Duro’s Tales: The Revenge of Stingy Jack

Duro tells Pietros, Nasir and Diona the tale of Stingy Jack, the origin story of the jack-o-lantern. The three get so creeped out that Barca has to intervene. Mad that his fun’s been cut short, Duro takes his anger out on a few hapless pumpkins. However....

What goes around comes back around, and with the barrier between worlds at its thinnest, Duro’s negative energy summons forth a creature that gives Duro a scare of his own! 🎃🎃

Favorite Spartacus Characters (5/12): Duro (portrayed by Ande Cunningham) 

Although Duro only appears in a few episodes, he plays a big part in regard to the development of Agron’s character. I like Duro (look at his angry little face, isn’t he adorable XD), because unlike other more ‘traditional’ gladiators, he is a bit more relatable in some sense. Not that he is not tough, but he is more of a simple boy trying to prove himself and eagerly get rid of his big brother’s protection. During the process, he becomes more courageous (maybe a little bit more skillful? :D), and Agron, the proud big brother, stands beside him and smiles widely. It’s all very sweet <3 Duro’s death destroys a big part of Agron, but I’m glad that Nasir is able to piece the remaining back. I think Duro would be very happy.

Agron and Duro were going to spend the day together. With their personal lives and work, they had been so busy and Agron could not think of the last time it had just been the two of them. He hoped today changed that. Reaching his brother’s studio, Agron used his key to unlock the door and stepped inside, closing it behind him. “Hey,” he announced. “We can go out in a minute, let me just quickly charge my phone,” Agron explained, already making his way to an outlet to plug it in to charge. 

Pressing the button, he waited for it to boot, wanting to make sure he didn’t miss any messages or calls from work, Nasir, or anyone else. Seeing he had text he opened that and the second he did, he regretted turning his phone back on. “Fuck!” He cursed, practically dropping his phone and sharply turning to face Duro. “What the fuck is wrong with you, you stupid shit?!” He demanded. Agron knew it wasn’t meant for him but of all messages to send to the wrong person . . . it had to be fucking that one.

Spell an OC’s Name: Nagron

I saw this SPELL A MUSE’S NAME IN MY ASK BOX AND I’LL TELL YOU post on my dash, and y’all know me! Nagron’s always on the brain.

N: Are they clumsy and/or prone to accidents? Not at all. Nasir’s light on his feet and rather graceful, since he knows what he looks like and is not above using his charms to his advantage. As for accidents, he knows what it’s like to work hard for everything he has, and takes care to never be clumsy or careless with anything, or take things for granted.

A: Who are their exes? Do they still keep in touch? Nasir never really “dated” before he met Agron. Just slept around a lot.

S: How do they tell someone they’re sorry? With actions, rather than words. Often when he realizes he’s in the wrong he’ll clam up, but then make a big gesture later on to show his remorse, or that he’s learned from his mistakes (on the show he does this a lot with Spartacus, Agron, Castus, and even Crixus). But then he’ll turn around and apologize for things that aren’t even his fault.

I: In general, are they organized or messy? Very organized and responsible. Nasir’s a good egg. ^--^

R: When’s the last time they had a birthday party? Nasir never really bothered celebrating it until he met Pietros (who always drags him out to “surprise” parties), and Agron (who always tries to do something romantic for him).

AGRON FEUERRIEGEL

A: Who are their exes? Do they still keep in touch? Agron’s last boyfriend before he met Nasir was this one guy, Segovax. Absolutely gorgeous, and hung like Woden’s horse Sleipnir, but omg what an absolute tool! Not one single solitary marble clattering around in that numb-skull. They had a very messy breakup, in front of Duro and everything. Ugh, good riddance.

G: What was their first job? Aggy’s family runs a goat farm, but since he’s terrible with farm animals he mostly just cut the grass, cleaned the pens, did manual labor, and made sure Duro didn’t do anything stupid. It was hard work.

R: When’s the last time they had a birthday party? Last year Nasir got him backstage passes to a Metallica concert. Agron cried. He lied and said it was allergies.

O: How much have they changed in the past five years? Agron’s still just as fit and handsome as ever. Went through a few rather embarrassing hairstyle changes though. But mostly his personality’s changed. Nasir’s been a great influence on him: he’s happier, calmer, and he argues with Crixus a bit less (”A BIT, okay, let’s not get carried away; he’s still a dummkopf!”).

N: Are they clumsy and/or prone to accidents? No. For as big as he is, Agron’s surprisingly nimble, and careful with his body. It’s his big mouth that’s the problem. XD

F: Have they ever had a one night stand? “Jupiter’s c*ck,, yes!”

E: Are they the happiest they’ve ever been? YES.

U: Would they rather be single or in a relationship? He’s always wanted to be in a relationship, but before he met Nasir he just hadn’t met the right guy. It was just one disaster after another.

Yule Vacation - Pt7: Revenge of the Yule Goat

"He knows if you've been bad or good / So be good for goodness sake / Oh, you better watch out / You better not cry / Better not pout / I'm telling you why / Santa Claws is coming to town!" ♪♫♬

The Yuletide season was in full swing. Aurora Skies was covered in a blanket of snow, and all around were the sounds of merriment and holiday cheer.

At the alpine ski lodge, the Feuerriegel family followed their town's traditions, and erected not only a bonfire for Julblot (the winter solstice sacrifice of the sonargöltr, Freyr's boar), but also a Julbocken, the straw goat believed to carry gifts and help usher in good tidings.

Nasir was charmed by it all, and Agron didn't have the heart to tell him that his brother Duro never let a year go by without burning the goat down, the little devil!

However, this year, Duro was due for a little devilry of his own!

This is my third Nagron Xmas, WOW. I don’t even celebrate it IRL! XD In 2014 I went in on St. Boniface christianizing the old Norse/Germanic traditions, and in 2016 I effed up a few carols. Now in 2018 I’ve got sims committing arson. Come 2020 I’ll probably have Agron beat up Santa; I wouldn’t put it past me. (－‸ლ) 

Anyways! It would be utterly remiss of me to do all this Nagron Goat Farm in Germany gameplay, let Xmas come and go, and not give a nod to the German traditions of Yule goats, the Julbocken, and Krampus.

The Julbocken (meaning ”Yule Goat”) was originally one of the goats that pulled Thor’s chariot in Norse mythology (Thor is called Donar in Germany). 

Christians started converting everyone, and St. Nicholas / Santa Claus / Father Christmas were depicted riding the goat, which now symbolized paganism/evil, and Christianity’s subjugation of the Devil. The goat would carry Santa’s sack of gifts, or pull his sleigh, and became a simple ornament/decoration. In Sweden, giant Yule Goats would regularly be burned down as a part of Christmas mischief.  

Krampus (meaning ”Claws”) was an offshoot of the Yule Goat, a goat-man who acts as one of Santa’s assistants, or even alter-ego. 

Santa leaves coal instead of presents for naughty children, so Krampus would know who to punish later. Krampus is said to beat kids with sticks, or stuff them into a sack and drag them into Hell (some traditions claim that Krampus is the son of Hel/Hela, the daughter of Loki and ruler of the Norse underworld). People would dress as Krampus and go around the town at night with torches, knocking on doors to demand/ask for presents & harass folks (like trick-or-treating), and re-enact Krampus meting out punishments to the naughty.

“Hi, I’m not from Sunset Valley” - Agron: Aurora Skies

I did this already with Nasir for Al Simhara, so I figured, since I had all that gameplay in Aurora Skies recently, I should do one for Aggy!

Given how California-centric EA is with its worlds, it’s important to celebrate all our countries and nationalities - with all their quirks and vices and ridiculousness, and all that might seem strange to outsiders.

1. favourite place in your country? / 28. does your country have a lot of lakes, mountains, rivers? do you have favourites? Agron is proud to be a German who lives EAST of the Rhine River (faaaar away from France, LOL)

3. does your country have access to sea? Yes, it’s an island (in Northeastern Germany, close to Denmark, I like to imagine).

4. favourite dish specific for your country? His mother’s Würste and Speck. / 23. which alcoholic beverage is the favoured one from your country? BEER.

5. favourite [traditional] song in your native language? He likes a lot of those beerhall songs sung during Oktoberfest. 6. most hated song in your native language?  / 6. favourite [contemporary] song in your native language? Agron loves heavy metal and rock (his favorite band of all time is of course Metallica). He likes all of the typical iconic German bands, though.

/ 30. do you have people of different nationalities in your family? I imagine that Agron’s mother isn’t German, and is actually Illyrian/Albanian, based on his name being that of an ancient Illyrian King Agron. But he’s all German on his dad’s side.

9. which of your neighbouring countries would you like to visit most? Agron’s neighboring country is Champs les Sims. O__O EFF NO. XD / 2. do you prefer spending your holidays in your country or travel abroad? Agron just got back from an entire Yule holiday in AS. This was his favorite, because it was the first time he took his fiance Nasir home with him. :3

11. favourite native writer/poet? / 17. are you interested in your country’s history? Agron would’ve failed Literature and History and all those Liberal Arts snoozefests, if not for his cousins Donar & Saxa letting him cheat off their homework and exams.

Apparently his brother Duro got real freaked out over Yule, saying he got attacked by Krampus. Agron tried to assure Duro that it was just a man in a really good costume, but Duro was visibly shaken, “It was REAL, I tell you! Stop LAUGHING, Agron!”

14. do you enjoy your country’s cinema and/or TV? Other than action and horror, Agron’s not really a tv/movies person; he’s an athlete, and likes being active, out and about. / 27. favourite national celebrity? Whichever one of these German MMA fighters or Olympic medalists is the most popular over there, I reckon.

16. which stereotype about your country you hate the most and which one you somewhat agree with? / 22. what makes you proud about your country? what makes you ashamed? / 26. does your nationality get portrayed in Hollywood/American media? what do you think about the portrayal? Agron gets really uncomfortable with the inevitable Racist Nazi Germany stuff, especially considering that people usually end up calling him one. He’s not a Nazi or a racist; Agron’s a misanthropist -- if you’re not related to him, or a close friend, he hates you (and even some of them he can’t stand being around). Agron just hates everyone (because deep down he’s actually intensely shy and socially awkward, and his defense mechanism is to be as offensively stand-offish as possible). He IS an unapologetic Francophobe though. As for what makes him most proud, Agron loves being German, because the harsh and wild Scandinavian/Germanic landscape bred the best warriors in all Europe: the Goths, Saxons, and Vikings. 25. would you like to come from another place, be born in another country? No.

19. do you like your country’s flag and/or emblem? what about the national anthem? Agron’s got a huge flag in his living room. Crixus made fun of Germans singing the national anthem (because of course he did).

20. which sport is The Sport in your country? Fussball (soccer/football), ice hockey, skiing in the German Alps. But for Agron he loves MMA the most, plus wrestling and boxing.

21. if you could send two things from your country into space, what would they be? Two boxes full of all those boring AF novels and literature textbooks - Nietzsche, Jung, Freud, Marx, and all those other blowhards that put him to sleep all through high school and college. Eff ALL that noise; the aliens can HAVE them. >_<

Yule Vacation - Pt2: At the Airport

CAPTIONS AS TEXT

- Nasir and Agron arrived at the airport with ample time to spare -- which was good, considering the laps they had to do around the parking lot to find long-term parking. 

- They got their bags checked, with only a brief delay, when Agron was forced to throw out the super-sized bottles of lubricant and Gatorade he tried to smuggle inside. 

- There were still a few hours before their plane departed, so they decided to cool their heels in the waiting area. 

- They waited....

- And waited.... "Flight for Aurora Skies, now boarding!"

- "Finally! Let's get to our seats, Nasir, and settle in for a looooong flight."

- "Pass your bags on over, Little Man; I know you might have a bit of trouble reaching up here." "Agron, delivering a son's corpse to their mother as a wedding present might be considered rude...but I'll risk it." "Heeheehee!"

- "Excited to be heading off?" "You bet! I haven't been on a plane since I was a toddler, when my brother Nazeem first moved us out here to Starlit Shores from Al Simhara."

- "Well, you’ve got 12 hours -- what're you gonna do?" "I'm gonna play some video games." "Is that SecondLife?" "No, it's The Sims." "Sounds boring." "Hush, Aggy, and listen to your Metallica."

- At long last, they arrived. "AHHH! Mein Heimatland! My town's a ways off; Duro's gonna pick us up by the pier. This way, Nasir!"

Saw a bunch of these on my dash, and decided to do a bunch in turn!

SPARTACUS

Favorite Male Character: Nasir (my smol little cinnamon roll~! :3), and Agron (my sexy beast from the East of the Rhine <3)

Favorite Female Character: Lucretia (Lucy Lawless was the reason I started watching the show in the first place; Xena’s my bish). I liked Mira, too.

Least Favorite Character: Illythia, that nasty skank

Favorite Ship: NAGRON, DUH!!!! <3

Favorite Friendship: The entire quartet: Spartacus, Crixus, Agron, Gannicus

Favorite Quote: This is too hard, there were so many good 1-liners from almost all the characters. I’ll go with, “My place is beside you“ -- effing weak rn, Nasir, same! <3

Worst Character Death (if any): The finale effed me up; everyone died (except Nagron! ^0^). You know it’s coming, cuz duh, they lost the war and the crucifixions along the Appian Way is a real thing that happened in actual history, but man, that was grim. U_U

This made me so happy you have no idea Moment: Other than Nagron surviving the war like the boss BAMF gay battle husbands they are? IDK, maybe Glaber and Illythia getting their comeuppance in S02.

Saddest Moment: Agron crying over Spartacus. And Duro. And his own crucifixion. (Dan’s really good at heavy scenes.) And Naevia’s death (I was crushed, I really wanted her to make it.) And Nasir’s rare freak out moment when he flipped on Castus, that was painful.

Favorite Location: Lucius Caelus’ temple in S02. All those times Agron blasphemed against the gods, and it ended up being a temple that became the rebel base. :P And in S03 he kept doing it! XD

TEEN WOLF (I hate this show, it makes no sense)

Favorite Male Character: Stiles Stilinski (of course~!), and Peter Hale (YEAH, I said it, sue me!) Stiles and Peter are also my two favorite former villains, as the Nogitsune and the Alpha.

Favorite Female Character: Kira Yukimura (I miss her!) and Erica Reyes (I miss her, too!)

Least Favorite Character: Malia Tate (for so many reasons, let me count the ways....) Why does SHE get to stick around, yet actual good female characters/actresses keep leaving the show!? >_>

Favorite Ship: Sterek is Eternal, regardless of Jeff Davis pooping on everything with his crap writing and crap plots

This made me so happy you have no idea Moment: Them announcing that 6B would be the last season. Stiles’ reunion with everyone after being Erased in 6A. And his real name finally being revealed by his dad! :D

Saddest Moment: Other than literally all the good cast members being killed off or put on a bus, leaving us with garbage? All the touching Stilinski Family Feels with Stiles and his dad. <3

Favorite Location: Derek’s loft

Favorite Male Character: Magnus Bane is my aesthetic!

Favorite Female Character: Izzy Lightwood

Least Favorite Character: Clary Fray. The actress is terrible, that fake ginger hair terrible, the incest is terrible... (but at least that was fixed, lol).

Favorite Ship: Malec is trying to make me die of feels, wtf

Favorite Friendship: Izzy and Simon (SizzyFTW! Endgame Sizzy!)

Worst Character Death (if any): People keep boo-hooing over Jace, but that doesn’t count; he was only dead for like 5 seconds. Imma go with Ragnor Fell. #GoneTooSoon!

This made me so happy you have no idea Moment: Laaaaawd~~~! That wedding scene!? THAT WEDDING SCENE. LAWD! ^0^ And the song playing in the background was perfect; gave me shivers. The way Magnus just stomped in there like a boss!? That eye contact!? OMG

Saddest Moment: The whole Magnus-Valentine issue and that Agony Rune, Valentine’s massacre of the Downworlders at the Institute (that was effed up), everyone’s reaction over Jocelyn’s death (poor Alec!), Simon having to endure that awkward as hell kiss in the Seelie Realm.

Favorite Location: Magnus’ penthouse

GAME OF THRONES

Favorite Male Character: Tyrion Lannister since Day 1 (Peter Dinklage is 200% superb!)

Favorite Female Character: #TeamDanyFTW!

Least Favorite Character: Cersei Lannister, that psycho wench. I hope she’s pregnant with a dwarf. I kid you not, I hope her little incest baby ends up looking just like Tyrion, and she goes ballistic and tries to kill it, and Jaime gets to see just how EVIL this heifer is and come to his frikkin senses. 

Favorite Ship: Dany & Drogo, of course. Arya & Jaqen H’gar, sue me. Arya & Gendry (yay, he’s back!) I need Arya to get some lovin’, seriously.

Favorite Friendship: Jon & Sam, Dany & Missandei, Tyrion & Bronn

Favorite Quote: Winter is Coming! All of Dany’s soundbites: Fire cannot kill a dragon, Fire and Blood, Drakarys, etc.

Worst Character Death (if any): HOLD THE DOOR. Nedd Stark. Kahl Drogo. Poor little Rickon didn’t deserve that. The Red Wedding. Plus, that awkward moment when you realize Bran is nuts.

This made me so happy you have no idea Moment: The Purple Wedding (Olenna you flawless HBIC!!! - Cersei’s face! XD *knee slapping goodness*). That Bolton twat getting eaten by his own dogs gave me life. Every time Dany says Drakarys is a BAMF moment. Every time Sam saves the day. The Arya vs Brienne fight was DOPE!

Saddest Moment: HOLD THE DOOR. Nedd Stark. Kahl Drogo. Poor little Rickon didn’t deserve that. The Red Wedding. Plus, that awkward moment when you realize Bran is nuts.

Favorite Location: All the exotic places in the East/Essos: Qarth, Mereen, Astapor, Pentos, etc. I like Dorne, too, but that’s in Westeros.
