Let me make a few excuses. I said that the role of Raoul would not be in this story. Unfortunately, that hasn't changed… but Raoul and Christine's adorable childhood is one of my favorite scenes, and I was wondering if there was any way to describe it. I was also a bit worried about the describe of Metro. I have a favorite fairy tale about cats, and I wanted to tell that story, too.(and...Train Rush in space??)

So the Empress and Grooves are friends. Please don't get me wrong, there is no romantic interest between them!The trigger? Well……I'll talk about it when I think of it.

🎬The restaurant setting was inspired by Kenji Miyazawa's "The Restaurant of Many Orders" and "Night on the Galactic Railroad"(or "the Night of the Milkey Way Train". Many English translations exist for this title. I honestly don't know which name to call it. I'm sorry but I will decide by next time.) However, you do not need to know the story as we just borrowed the concept. Cats do not eat customers, and the destination of the Galactic Railroad is the moon.

🎬Two years after the Empress purchased the property from Grooves, she and her friend built a restaurant. The name? …… Let's call it Lapis Lazuli. It comes from the full starry sky visible from the moon.

🎬The restaurant is thriving. Even though there is quite a lot of seating, there is never a noticeable empty seat. So the kitchen is always very busy.

🎬The head cook is Cherry, Cooking Cat. Before building the restaurant, she had been the head cook in a hotel run by the mafia, but she was bored with her job because she only cooked the same dishes every day. Then she received an offer from the Empress and decided to have her own restaurant.

🎬There are many cats in the kitchen besides her. Some of them were originally prefects of the Empress.

🎬The restaurant has a stage. At the center of it is a piano, where you can enjoy your food while listening to the wonderful jazz music played by a moon penguin, the performing staff.

🎬Why did the Empress decide to open a restaurant? What happened to her jewelry store? That' s simple…Metro got rid of Nyakuza.

🎬This was after she had acquired the land of the moon. The Owl Express conductor went missing and the train could no longer operate. The troubled owls decided to use the metro to commute to work until the express resumes service.

🎬Taking advantage of this trend, a project to renew the Metro was launched. The officials set out to improve public safety so that the owls could use the metro in peace.

🎬As a result, the Empress had to give up her beloved jewelry store in exchange for a large sum of money unilaterally given to her.

🎬She is no longer Nyakuza. She had to give up all the stores she had owned and operated. All she was left with was unsold jewelry, a lot of money, a few prefects, and a land on the moon.

🎬Failure was no longer an option for her. She had to succeed in her new business and revive the Nyakuza at any cost.

🎬She immediately contacted Cooking Cat and suggested the restaurant business to her.

🎬There must have been many difficulties before opening the restaurant. In fact, The cats had to improve their culinary skills and it took months of menu development by Cooking Cat.

🎬There were probably significant cultural differences between what the cats liked and what the moon penguins preferred. The atmosphere of service, the wording, the flavors, the gestures, the etiquette, etc. To adapt to their culture, the Empress checked the restaurants and boutiques of the moon every day and also listened to trendy music.

🎬Making connections was probably the hardest part. Anyway, she needed to make a lot of moon penguin friends, besides Grooves. In the process, she found a moon penguin who played the piano wonderfully well and invited him to join the performance staff at the restaurant.

🎬Now, why did Grooves give away the land? Last time I mentioned that his mailbox was filled with lots of fan letters and bug eggs.

🎬About a month after he won the Bird Actor Award, strange, monstrous letters began arriving at him daily. The carefully sealed, plain white letters had several small, white, round objects on them. The contents of the letters made nonsense, and Grooves didn't even know what the round things were. So sometimes he would throw them away right away, and sometimes he would just leave them on the table with the newspaper.

🎬The eggs peeled off from the letter on the table, fell into a crevice in the floor, and hatched. The eggs from the letter he threw away also hatched in the trash. They ate the wood of the house and multiplied rapidly.

🎬It was two weeks later that Grooves realized this. He had no choice. He was busy with work at the time and didn't get home much. He finally learned of the bugs when he opened his favorite book before bedtime and found black bugs squashed in places. Confused, he bought some insecticide and sprayed the chemicals all over the house. That should have killed most of the bugs, but it did not restore the gnawed wood or the stained books.

🎬A week later, something even worse happened. The doorbell rang and Grooves opened the front door. There was "the director". Grooves was surprised to see, and quickly turned away from the awkwardness …… to find him holding a knife in his right fin.

🎬Grooves reflexively closed the door, locked it, and barricaded himself in. When he opened his upstairs window to call the police, he saw him running back, so he gave up on the call. Because there was no evidence.

🎬Naturally, Grooves had a hard time calming down. He wanted someone to share this fear with him and tell him it would be okay. So he decided to contact his best friend.

🎬The Empress was worried when her best friend told her that his house was in shambles and that he had just been almost killed. Neither of them had expected this to happen the last time they had seen each other and played together after a long time when he had won an award. The Empress decided to cut out of work and stay with her best friend for a little while.

🎬They talked it over and Grooves decided to take a year off and leave his hometown. Obviously, he was tired of acting like a star. So what about his house? The Empress offered him a deal. She wanted him to forget about all this and enjoy his vacation.

🎬The Empress got the land …… but three months later she was kicked out of the metro.

🎬Grooves looked quite well when he visited her there after hearing that she had built a restaurant. After enjoying some food and chat, he revealed that he was interested in a new challenge. …making movie as the director.

🎬Of course, he loves acting. But after some time back at work, he wanted to make a film from scratch.

🎬They would meet at this restaurant every two months. Grooves seemed to really enjoy it. But on the other fin, he seemed to be concerned that the film was not getting good reviews. He was disappointed that people didn't understand his taste and that he couldn't reward his crews' hard work with anything other than a paycheck …… Until he met Phantom.

🎬Subsequently, Grooves' visits to the restaurant became less frequent. But the Empress was not worried that he was not showing up at the restaurant; in fact, she was pleased. She knew that his latest movie was a hit. He must be so busy that he doesn't even have time to come to the moon……. She missed him, but more than that, she was happy for her best friend's newfound success.

🎬He visited the restaurant twice, at great intervals, and each time she sensed something different about him. As if he were exclusive and secretive… had he been like this before? Perhaps this is the kind of charisma that a real star has?

🎬After Grooves won the award, the Empress noticed that he had definitively changed. A moonstone engagement ring adorned his chest.

🎬What would she think of his change? Raoul was deeply in love with Christine so he was terribly angry when he saw her ring. Then what about the Empress? Since they were friends, it seemed the best way to congratulate him on his engagement. But on the other hand, she couldn't forget the eerie vibe she had been getting from him lately. Could she really congratulate him?

🎬Metro's renewal has been completed successfully. Stations have been added and new lines established. One of them is the Galactic Railroad(the Milkey Way Train), which connects this planet to the moon.

🎬For those owls who missed the Owl Express, officials forcibly bought it. After remaking it, they put it into operation as the Galactic Railway. You can board the train by going to the spaceport.

🎬As a result, increase traffic between the moon and this planet, and cultural exchanges between moon penguins and owls began to flourish. And jazz and movies began to catch on in the bird city. This may have been one of the reasons for the success of Grooves' third film.

🎬Hatkid is a detective. She is very good at observing and making friends, but not so good at deducing. Despite this, she is a detective and has solved a variety of difficult cases.

At that point when electricity was restored to some extent, they could have contacted their supervisors and asked for help. But they left the company. They then became freelance and decided to tag team.

🎬Bowkid decided to write a novel based on the various cases Hatkid began solving as a detective. It was first published by a publishing house run by the mafia. As they found more time pieces and were able to send the data back home, her novels were published in her hometown as well.

🎬But they are not mystery novels for adults. Bowkid wrote them as juvenile liteature because the development of Hatkid's work was always easy to understand. The novels, which are easy to read and in which a pretty girl converts a cunning villain with brilliant deductions, became popular. The popularity meant that it became necessary to develop her stories into a series.

🎬Of course, in writing the novel, Bowkid adapts things quite a bit. Naturally, she only writes about very successful cases. In her novels, Hatkid is a huge star. She boldly confronts any evil and is always on the side of the weak. Her little readers only know the sparkling HatKid. When she meets them, HatKid does not want to disappoint them. Step by step, the real Hatkid began to play the Hatkid of her novels.

🎬She became better and better at acting. She even began to play the charisma of a real star. Perhaps that is one of the reasons she was able to play the lead role in Picture Perfect.

🎬Bowkid has regret it. Hatkid still doesn't play in front of Bowkid and shows her the real her, but maybe one day she won't. Besides, she can't write her own creation now that Hatkid's novels have become so popular. For both of their sakes they should break up the tag team and end her series. ...But will readers and publishers allow that?

Does the scenario need to be grounded in reality? Cause if not I really like the idea of a town falling under some spell that makes the people ravenously hungry to the point of them gaining hundreds of pounds jiggling fat. Random people passing through don’t understand what’s going on, but the longer they stay the less they care about what they eat and eventually join the towns people in gaining with a dopy smile on their face.

fantasy wg scenarios are my favorite 💞💞 especially when it involves thousands of people collectively deciding to remodel their entire towns infrastructure to fit the needs of the citizens with rapidly growing appetites and waistlines. Doorways to restaurants get wider, the economy thrives due to all the food being purchased and everyone selling goodies using family recipes, the work day shortens and the lunch hour is joined by two additional snack hours, chefs and fast food workers getting raises because the little town values them so much. The plus size sections at boutiques get replaced with ultra-super-sized sections for guests who are even more corpulent than the average size 6XL.

Anyone passing through finds themselves staying at hotels with king size beds labeled as singles and a continental breakfast consisting of the richest foods be delivered to their rooms. Within a few days they'd be giving in notice to their old workplaces and updating their addresses, set on relocating in this little town. They'd meet their new neighborhoods massive greeting committee at a nightly block party, the street lined with tables of food and fat neighbors waddling from course to course and taking breaks in extra wide chairs.

The newcomer would be a bit small for all the towns accommodations, and they might not quite fit into smallest sizes available at most clothing stores, but don't worry, they'll get there ♡

Kampar trip 7-9 September,23

We drove up right after picking Grace up from school and picking up Lisa. Half way up Lisa took over the wheel and drove to her friend’s place. She was going to Kota Kinabalu the following day.

We arrived in Kampar at about 6.30pm and checked in to Kampar Boutique Hotel. Then we met up with Xin Yun and Cheryl for dinner, where we enjoyed very appetising clay pot dishes like clay pot eggplant, tofu and chicken.

The following morning, we picked Cheryl up from UTAR after her lecture in the morning and headed for Ipoh. Xin Yun couldn’t join us because she had a test.

We took the trunk road to Ipoh, chatting and munching grapes on the way. When we arrived, we had a hard time getting a parking lot. I think we only found one after 30 minutes. The first thing we did was stroll along Concubine Lane, which was lined with little dessert stalls and souvenir shops. Then we were delighted to find a BookXcess bookstore and bought some books. For lunch we walked to Nam Heong, a crowded but fast-serving coffee shop which sold noodles and egg tarts. Then we bought bread at another shop, because it was quite cheap.

After that, we bought some local biscuits a few doors from Ho Yan Hor Museum which we could only visit at 3.30pm. So we drove to Chang Jiang Coffee Shop for white coffee and headed back again to the museum. It was a very inspiring and eye-opening visit. We learnt about the enterprising businessman Ho Kai Cheong who started Ho Yan Hor, selling herbal tea to the community. A committed Christian, his business thrived and expanded throughout Malaysia and abroad. Today his eldest son helms the company under the Hovid brand.

At the end of the tour, we tasted all four varieties of herbal tea and bought some too. We drove back to Kampar in the rain, dropped by Xin Yun’s place and had dinner together. The portions were so big we couldn’t finish the food. All the dishes were good except the squid which was rubbery.

On the last day, Leslie suggested we visit the Kinta Tin Mining Museum so that we at least do some sightseeing here. When we arrived, serendipitously there was a kids’ day museum event. Grace had been pining to do some art and craft throughout our trip and her wish came true!! The museum curators who are also artists, explained the history and process of tin mining followed by the story of the elephant Larut, from which the tin mining town of Larut got its name. After that, they made elephant origami and their own unique thermoplastic elephant keychain. They stencilled, coloured and baked the plastic. They did the artwork for about two hours. These artists are really passionate about their work.

We drove back to Muar only after 2pm. It rained almost all the way and traffic was heavy, so we only arrived home at about 9.30pm.

By the mid-twentieth century, what was once a thriving business area had become a skid row. As highways and airports diminished the dominance of passenger railroad transportation, the importance of Union Station, LoDo's most prominent building, waned.

Wazee St in LoDo The Lower Downtown Historic District, known as LoDo, was created by the enactment of a zoning ordinance by Denver City Council in March 1988. The resolution's intent was to encourage historic preservation and to promote economic and social vitality in Denver's founding neighborhood at a time when it still held significant historic and architectural value. The status granted by this special designation provided protection to the community's archivable resources and to the 127 contributing historic structures that remained after roughly 20% of Lower Downtown's buildings had been demolished through DURA policies in the 1960s and 1970s. LoDo's historic district ordinance includes zoning that restricts building height and encourages mixed-use development. It stipulates strict design guidelines for rehabilitation and new construction. These guidelines have been challenged by out-of-state developers but are vigorously defended by residents.

During this time, the neighborhood began its renaissance and new businesses opened. Gradually LoDo became a destination neighborhood. By the time Coors Field opened on the edge of the LoDo Historic District in 1995, the area had revitalized itself, becoming a new, hip neighborhood filled with clubs, restaurants, art galleries, boutiques, bars, and other businesses. Pepsi Center, located on the other edge of the neighborhood, opened in 1999 and further established the neighborhood as a sport fan's paradise. New residential development came to LoDo, transforming old warehouses into pricey new lofts.

The Oxford Hotel, built in 1891, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Cruise Room is a hotel bar with historic art deco interior, that was operated as an illicit speakeasy.

The Wynkoop Brewing Company, a brewpub founded in 1988 by Colorado's 42nd Governor John Hickenlooper with partners Russell Schehrer, Mark Schiffler, and Jerry Williams, sponsors the "Beerdrinker of the Year" competition, which is hosted yearly in one of the banquet halls. The Wynkoop has a large billiards hall on its top floor.

When she started school she was excited to learn more about her magical heritage and being placed in Ravenclaw was certainly a happy choice. She thrived in her house, being challenged constantly was refreshing and living up to so many notable witches and wizards who had been in the house previously was something she kept to drive her in her studies. Courteous, sweet, somewhat shy she was oblivious as she got older at how much people began to admire her- and not admire her in a way of her studious personality or talents, but physically and didn’t know the effect she had on some of the students. She never considered herself beautiful, or hot, conventionally pretty to a certain degree but nothing special. But when the Yule Ball occurred in her fifth year, Cedric Diggory, who was considered one of the school’s most eligible bachelors alongside being a good study friend asked her to the ball. She felt like great big neon sign had been placed above her. And then Harry Potter of all people asked her and it sent her into a frenzy of self doubt and expectation she wasn’t entirely ready for. But then Cedric asked to date her and she said yes and he was the most charming, sweetest man she could imagine. It didn’t matter to her that he was a Hogwart’s Champion, she just liked being looked after and loved.

That of course came crumbling down, eight months of dating ended in one curse and a fall of a body. The death of Cedric affected her badly, she became emotional, unstable, every little thing reminded her of him and her first love was gone and she had to continue on. Her school work suffered, her grades beginning to plummet and her sixth year came around and she had this insane panic of an entire year before taking NEWTS and she was so behind. She tried to be brave in front of people in her sixth year, but it became impossible to keep up with how much Cedric’s death was still a topic of discussion. And the threat of Voldemort being back weighed over her. She believed Harry, of course she did, he didn’t seem like the type to lie about such a thing. So when the DA was started and the tyrannical reign of Umbridge began she jumped at the chance to learn more from him and to make a step in making herself better. If she could protect herself, build her confidence, just maybe she could get through this. She even opened up to the idea of dating Harry, who seemed to still be interested in her. But she wasn’t ready, everything was still too raw and she found the friendship she had created with him falling apart as their attempt of dating also did. And then Marietta, one of her closest best friends caved under the pressure and Cho found herself standing up for her friend but poisoning the others against her instead. As if she were also the one to grass everyone up. The cursed parchment was a nasty trick, something Cho wouldn’t forgive purely for the humiliation and pain Marietta had to put up with. It was easy for people to be righteous when they didn’t know all the facts, that Marietta had been forced, pressured, the threat of her mum getting in trouble and lengths Umbridge went to in her office to get people to confess or spill their secrets.

Cho went back for the 7th year, alongside Marietta, Mandy, Terry, Michael etc. But it was the final year she had thought it would be. The Ministry was taken over, the school alongside it. The school year was brutal, half their friends and school mates were gone, the unknowing of their fates kept them all on their toes and their heads down just trying to survive. Being able to live simply because their blood was different to others. It was barbaric and traumatic and Cho had managed about three months of it until she had taken some of her house and went to go hide in the Room of Requirement. When Luna was snatched just after Christmas she alongside others felt helpless. Even in the holidays people weren’t safe. Those who hid there over the months, with more and more joining as the days and weeks passed meant everyone got used to living in such close quarters. It was like a haven inside a prison and Cho had taken it upon herself to learn alongside some others more healing spells and general medical aid to help those who came to seek refuge. The year passed and soon became May and alongside it, the eventual battle. The elation she had felt seeing Harry, Ron, Dean and Luna, hell even for a fraction of a second, Hermione turned up from the secret passageway it felt like salvation had finally come.

The battle had been long, tiring and full of despair. She had been alongside Marietta and Michael when both were struck, Michael went down with an Avada and Marietta was hit with a curse which sent a gash from navel to throat alongside her body. Whatever they had learnt in the DA felt hopeless, Cho had battled her best, tears streaming and coated in her best friends blood. Marietta didn’t have to stay and fight, she wouldn’t have blamed her, but the guilt she still felt at what had happened two years before made her resolute to stay and help. Because of her selflessness Marietta died and Cho witnessed numerous friends fall. When the battle was finally over, when Voldemort was dead and those who still lived gathered together Cho had sat in the hall alongside what remained of her house and thought about each and every person she had loved which had been slain.

She couldn’t find a way to cope, she was exhausted from feeling anything and within weeks she had dropped off the face of the earth. No one knew where she’d gone, no one knew how she was, only she knew she couldn’t go home and she couldn’t find a way to move past it. So she had packed a bag, grabbed her passport and funds and left to go find herself. She had to process and grieve in the own way and she couldn’t wait to experience the aftermath. She found herself travelling around the world, never staying in one country more than a few months. The more she moved, the more she healed, and the more she experienced the more she began to change. And it was good, she immersed herself in culture and tradition and learnt about others. Already trilingual, her travels turned her into a polyglot. With Chinese, Indonesian, Spanish, Hindi, Turkish, Sinhalese and Polish under her belt Cho found it easy to start coming into her own. Languages became a passion and the amount of work which opened up for her due to her extensive and ever growing array of languages started her in a career of event planning. Working alongside gaining life experiences, Cho has gone snorkelling, deep sea diving, paragliding, bungee jumping, camel riding, learned jujitsu, experienced festivals and carnivals and it was in Brazil, almost three years since the war she spotted the first person she had left behind. Purely by chance, at least she wanted it to be, she found herself face to face with Dean Thomas and his family. She stayed a month, both of them reconnecting and Cho found herself opening up about her disappearance and what she had been doing- at least three of those weeks were spent fucking around and fucking. They had bonded over the war, connected in a way she didn’t feel she could connect with anyone back in the UK. It wasn’t feelings based, her travels so far had gotten her many dalliances under her belt- men, women, it didn't matter, she wanted it all. She was living her best life and the weeks spent with Dean were a brief thing to remind her of what once was home.

When he asked her to come back, not with him or with promise of anything more between them, simply because she belonged there she had packed that very night and moved on, leaving him a postcard with a simple ‘I’m sorry, I can’t’. For the remainder of her time travelling, she took on more and more experiences and soon the emotional, dramatic little girl she had left back on the small island was gone and instead there was a personality of her own. She was strong, cultured, open and very into living in the moment and she picked up numerous techniques from her travels to help with keeping her on her track. So when she had finally gotten an email from her mother, saying her father was sick and they weren’t sure how long he had she found herself back in the rainy highlands of Scotland and back to a place she had long left behind. It turned out to be a temporary thing, her father bounced back during the weeks she was home and surprisingly, Cho found herself wanting to stay longer. So she did. She kept to Scotland for a few more months, working with clubs and promoting events and finally decided that the woman she had become was enough to maybe start again. So she found herself travelling into England and living in London. It was during a very early morning stroll through Diagon, intent on avoiding anyone familiar she discovered a location long since boarded up and the idea struck her on what she wanted to do.

With news of the trials and other things concerning the minds of its inhabitants, no one really paid attention to the slow renovation of the building nor what was going on inside. When she was ready she would announce it, there would be no hiding but if she was going to be here, she was going to do something she loved. And what was best than parties, events and clubbing. Phase 4 and a Vacation!

I was sent to San Diego for a work conference last week. Logistically it was a bit challenging, considering that at the time I was only 1 month out from my bypass. I had to do a lot of planning and prepping to make sure I could hit my fluid and protein goals without getting TSA'ed. I brought some packets of chicken, small portions of protein powder, Gatorade zero, and water flavorings in my carryon bag and got through just fine. I was able to get decaf coffee at Starbucks once I made it through security, so I just added my protein powder to that. In the future I will have to remember to bring my milk frother or a shaker bottle because it didn't mix super well with a spoon, but I was able to hit my goals without triggering a cavity search so I'm calling it a win.

At the hotel I was able to nibble on some shakshuka for breakfast and I finally got the go ahead to start incorporating cooked, non-starchy vegetables and hot cereals! I have never been so excited for broccoli and oatmeal in my life. The hotel I stayed in even provided aluminum reusable water bottles in the room, so I was never without. After a quick grocery run for some nibbles (Sabra hummus cups, a small container of vanilla protein powder, microwaveable lentils, and some low-carb instant oatmeal) , I was set. Another lesson learned though - microwaves and functioning refrigerators are not always standard in boutique hotels. But I was able to get them delivered to my room, which was nice and made meals while I was there much more budget friendly. I had forgotten how expensive San Diego was. Gas was $6.37 a gallon downtown! Our hotel was very unique, and I enjoyed our brief stay. And can we talk about the lighting in this bathroom? This was also the first time I got to bust out the business clothes donated to me by another surgical patient from my practice. I have one of these blazers in pretty much every color and I'm so stoked.

After the conference wrapped up and Bobby joined me, we visited some of our old haunts including Point Loma where he proposed, Coronado where we used to take a much smaller Archer to play on the dog beach, and we walked through our old neighborhood downtown.

Bobby hit his favorite breweries and restaurants (well, the ones that are still around a decade and a pandemic later anyway) and I was able to enjoy myself as well. At one point I realized I probably looked like a loon when I realized I had ordered decaf coffee (a sin), no beer at a brewery, and then proceeded to eat the filling of a singular taco from my taco flight with a fork using the world's tiniest bites. The waitress was perplexed but didn't say anything at the very least.

We eventually left San Diego and headed up the Pacific Coast Highway to Santa Cruz in our rental, which somehow ended up being a Camaro despite us reserving a sedan. No complaints there! While there we checked off several bucket list items including hiking through the redwoods and whale watching in Monterey Bay. I also scrambled along the rocky shores at the Point Loma tidepools which we never seemed to time correctly when we lived there previously.

We did have one casualty on our hike - my trusty 64 oz glass water bottle/weapon, Greenie. May she rest in (recycled) pieces.

The best part of the trip though was keeping up with Bobby. There were lots of hills and stairs and climbing on our outdoorsy adventures that not too long ago would have left me huffing and puffing. Not anymore! What's not to love - giant trees (we stood up in one with room to move), whales just doing their thing (outside of an aquarium!), protected wildlife areas, SEA OTTERS, banana slugs the size of well, actual bananas, and quality time with the hubs. Overall, I finally feel like I'm thriving instead of just surviving. I'm starting to live life the way I have wanted to for so, so long. No regrets.
