I have five thousand thoughts in my head and they are all spinning at a hundred miles per hour, but one of them is specifically about Adam and his alternate behaviours prior to him knowing he’s an alternate.

We know he was a nicer as a person before recent events, but we also know that even two years before he was still a bit… odd. He did take Sarah to an active crime scene and play an audio lure that can best be described as the screams of hell to get a response out of multiple alternates after all.

This particular event is actually linked with the Adam thoughts currently plaguing me.

Adam, when rewatching his moments in the series, does display multiple behaviours that are linked with him being an alternate, most notably the fact he doesn’t experience fear and also him telling Eve things she wished he never did (he does this around the time he starts acting weirder too).

However, another characteristic I noticed is to do with the screaming. In Volume 2, when Adam and Jonah are debating whether to leave or not, a screaming-like, glitching sound can be heard from inside the house. Jonah’s reaction is naturally fear, his desire to leave even stronger than before, meanwhile Adam finds it to be interesting and is adamant on going back in.

The screaming-like sound in question… was used as a lure to get Adam back inside and into the basement. Adam is subconsciously drawn to similar sounds due to his true nature.

I am most certainly reading too deep into this again and this probably wasn’t intentional, alas I’m having fun doing this so I shall simply not be stopped.

So, as far as we know, Adam's whole family is dead. And I'm going to assume he probably was on a run for at least few months, considering his and Jonah's wanted posters.

(I have no idea how they work, but to get one you obviously have to a)be recognizable enough and b)get connected to the crime you commit. Also, their bounty is way too high to be the first one. You don’t get 100k$ for your head overnight.)

But back to the topic. My question is:

Where did he live before?

Like, he existed as a person for at least two years, considering that he met Sarah in 2007 and the most recent time we see (and where he appears) is winter break of 2009 (which means, per Wikipedia, it's somewhere in second half of December 2009 Edit: I've been corrected that in Vol.4 we see January 2009 as date of events. Or was it?). He didn't know (or at least wasn't fully aware) he was an alternate, just like anyone around him. So he needed a place to sleep, eat and do other human stuff. He also was never mentioned to be adopted or gain any new family.

And where do kids without families live?

Orphanages.

I think we can almost certainly assume that it's where he lived. He had to be legally registered somewhere to be able to go to school, and (correct me if I'm wrong) I don't think he could do that living on streets.

And do you know who used to often run orphanages or work in them (at least I heard so)?

Nuns.

so here's a question.

WTF IS GOING ON WITH SARAH?

because she's been acting so weirdly around evelin and i can't figure out what her deal is.

for starters, we know that sarah has to have some idea of what's going on with adam. she knows he's talking to somebody at the end of vol4 ("what's going on adam? who are you talking to?") even though she wouldn't have been able to know that unless she was standing right behind him in his bedroom.

secondly, in catalyst, she starts the conversation with evelin about adam but then immediately pivots and claims he's entirely fine and nothing's wrong even though she and evelin both know something isn't right.

and now, in presto, she's being weird again. firstly, you're telling me you somehow learned how to "hack" into any security camera database you want? and you just do this for fun from time to time? no wonder you have a warrant out.

then we have the call. evelin is clearly terrified and confused, and sarah has to know (at least somewhat) what's going on with adam (see point 1) so why isn't she telling her the truth? oh he just happens to do this every now and then but you've noticed a sudden, significant change in his behavior recently and you're not gonna tell his ex-girlfriend who is clearly concerned and worried about him??

then we cut to SARAH's computer being interrupted by a security cam signal from the mcpd station. how would it know how to access her computer if she hadn't already logged onto it's network? it wouldn't. so she's been searching through the mcpd cam footage herself (would she have seen evelin go to the police station???)

and then of course, we're watching adam and thatcher's conversation at the station through SARAH's computer. there's no universe where she doesn't know what's going on at this point.

so why isn't she telling evelin? i'm glad they're bonding over adam being a dickbag but like... why is she hiding what's really going on? does sarah know that evelin has viewed the tapes (from dave's security cam)? does she know evelin went to the police station?

this puts EVERY SCENE we've ever seen with a security cam in it into a whole new perspective. I always thought it was weird that we were watching security cam footage from the mcpd bc... who was watching the footage? SARAH.

if there's one thing i've learned from following this series, it's that alex doesn't add details for no reason. sarah technically has a motive to be spying on the mcpd. they let her brother's case go cold, and we know for a fact that she's always been pissed about it. so spying on the police fits her character like a glove. but i just can't get past why she's being so cryptic with evelin??

I’m still not over the fact that Adam and Jonah (and supposedly the rest of BPS) have a 100,000$ reward on their heads from the FBI like why the fuck is it so high ??

From what I remember, these are the crimes we’ve seen from them or are told/implied they did in vol. 2 and 4:

-breaking and entering (vol. 4)

-stole a car (mentioned in vol. 2)

-implied to steal other shit (mentioned in vol. 2)

-possession of marijuana (vol. 2) (it’s illegal in Wisconsin)

-being fugitives obviously (vol. 2)

And that’s all I could remember, definitely against the law but how could just those thing warrant a 100,000 bounty from the FBI of all things ? It’s been assumed that investigation of alternates is what led to this but why would that be illegal ? It puts the person doing it at risk but other than that, why would the government be trying to prevent people from investigating them ?

If alternate investigation is what’s led to their high bounty, then it definitely seems that the government is trying to get them to not learn about alternates, but why? Personally, I think it’s that they don’t want information about alternates to get out into the public of the rest of the country and therefore the world, as it would definitely cause mass panic and suspicion. They probably want to make it seem that the whole thing is under control and that alternates are not a big deal or even real in the first place.

It’s shown in the video “interlude” that the United States Department of Temporal Phenomena says that “the unforeseen threat has been eliminated” and that they “may carry onwards without fear” when that’s clearly not true, but why would they say that if not to convince those who see it outside the county that alternates are no longer a threat and they don’t need to worry about them. But in reality, they clearly don’t know what to do about them, since so many have either left the county or died in it, but they don’t want that info to get out.

On top of this, it’s said by the nurses in Mandela catalyst that the only news they’ve heard from the county was the people fleeing from it and the body (Dave’s) found outside the church. You’d think that the news would be all over alternates but they’re not, why? Because they don’t know about them because the government has been trying to hide them. The nurses state that they straight up forgot about Mandela County, again you’d think the news would’ve talked more about why the thousands of people are trying to get out of the county but no.

So if the reason why bps is wanted is because they know about and investigate alternates, and the government doesn’t want that info to get out as to not cause mass panic, why haven’t they been arrested? I mean it seems pretty easy, it’s implied that their phone numbers are pretty easy to get seeing as their business revolves around getting calls about paranormal stuff, and it’s shown in Mandela catalyst that they have a van that says “BPS” on it in duct tape, so again they seem pretty easy to track down. But I think they haven’t been arrested so that the government can get info FROM them via later interrogation, since why would they put themselves at risk of getting MAD when they can just interrogate people who have already put themselves at risk.

So they let BPS go on the run so that they can get the information for them which they can get later on via interrogation, but make them wanted for a shit ton of money so they can’t spread the information to the outer public.

Or maybe I’m totally wrong WHO KNOWS !!

who has been deaf to the truth, and who has been speaking against it? not necessarily that these characters are the next to die but at the very least next to be targeted. i lean toward evelin and sarah for these options. i feel like evelin has a hard time listening to warnings of VERY OBVIOUS DANGER (i love you honey but you are too curious). she's also been the one to hear "awful terrible things" (probably M.A.D inducing things) from adam which can be taken into consideration. as for sarah, i feel like she's just generally the most vocal about her hatred for alternates and for the mcpd and all that. and i feel like gabriel's divine justice toward her would be telling her that her anger toward the mcpd is just a misguided and poor attempt at placing blame for something that cannot be blamed. no matter what the mcpd do, alternates will win, so being angry at them does nothing in the end and she's wasted her life blah blah blah.

but yeah uh. food for thought.

TW, SUICIDE. but it’s the Mandela catalogue wdy expect. I haven’t seen anyone else talk about this so I’m posting abt it. In Mandela Vol 1- mark is cornered by an alternate in his room.

It says “Your little sister is still asleep.” And then, in the next scene the camera moves. We can assume mark LEAVES his room, because in the scene after, the alternate asks mark where he went.

So, mark likely left to CHECK ON HIS LITTLE SISTER. SARAH. Then the alternate shows up. And.. we all know what comes next. So mark probably K~~~ED HIMSELF IN HIS SISTER’S ROOM!!

edit; I remembered that in like, vol 4 thatcher finds Mark’s body in his bed. sooo.. maybe not. but also. who’s to say the alternate didn’t move his body?

I’m thinking,, it says that line, and when mark goes to check on her he realises the alternate doesn’t want her. it wants him.. and if he’s protecting her, she could get hurt. so he does the only reasonable thing in his mind… which is to turn the gun on himself.

Favorite TMC quote and theory, and why?

As far as quotes, I'd have to say "When you stare into the mirror, you see the same monsters from your bedroom, don't you?" is a very strong contender,because of the way Six says it, and because of the kind of subtle truth it represents.

And for theories, I'd like to bring up this one theory - I don't know if it has a name proper - that basically says that preacher became adam. I like that one because it deepens Adam's character arc more, the nature versus nurture aspect and such.

chat logs with sarah and evelin my favorite girlbosses!!! apparently adam hasn't been talking to anyone for a while (most likely because of the Horrors, maybe since his talk with six) and eve is worried. she already seemed pretty sus about him in vol4, asking him to talk to her, which as far as i know he never did, and especially after she found his TSA results. based on whether or not you think she died in the MCPD station that day, these logs can either take place before or after she paid her visit. Sarah doesn't seem to think anything is wrong, despite it being implied that she hasn't been able to reach him either. either she's lying for whatever reason or she genuinely doesn't really know what's been going on with him. what is her MOTIVE??

TEASER SCENE. this could take place either before or after vol4, but i also believe this could be the "fight" eve was talking about in Jonah's memorial video, where he said some "terrible, awful" things that she "wished he had never told her". she may be afflicted with MAD. it seems that she visited his house at some point and met Preacher ("ADAM WHO IS THAT??"), who may have been using his voice to lure her in. There's been a fuck ton of theories on Preacher and it's connection to Adam, with some people saying it's his overdriven form. Idk how that could work seeing as they seem to be seperate entities, but WHO KNOWS??

WAKE UP THATCHER, I AM YOUR INTUITION. this is the same red text associated with Gabriel, who in vol 4 shared his intentions to kill Thatcher. Was getting him to follow the screams he heard (idk how since he seems to live decently far off from the BPS house) Gabriel's way of attempting to do that?? Also, the return of Gabe telling people to "wake up." Why the hell would Thatcher follow this voice?? just to get away from the alts in his home, or to try and get back a semblance of his old life as a respected lieutenant? Or as some kind of suicide mission, perhaps. (OUGH.)

the next scene. OH DEAR GOD THE NEXT SCENE. ARGHSFHJFS (GOES FERAL). strap in this'll be a long one. This is where Thatcher goes to the house. I noticed how the radio got more and more fucked up the closer he got before it just stopped working, which could be due to alt activity, or i could just be grasping at straws here. He notices the BPS van, which, why would that just be sitting outside the house in plain sight if the BPS are literally wanted by the FBI??? This could be the house they all lived in, or just Adam's house, but when he goes inside it is TRASHED. there is shit just strewn around EVERYWHERE and i may be misremembering but i think thatch steps on broken glass?? anyways he makes his way into the bedroom (which looks to be the same room Eve met Preacher in) and sees Adam sitting beside the bed in a pile of trash (INCLUDING AN EMPTY BOTTLE OF BLEACH that he DRANK, meaning the rest of the trash might be remnants of other attempts), next to a mirror (with a very fucked up reflection, i might add), looking catatonic. This is the guy he's been hunting down for stealing government property and fucking with alternates and BOY has he seen better days.

There is a tape playing called "the fate of the jester", pretty much describing his situation to a T. It describes the loss of humanity to becoming "just a cog in the machine", and no longer being "the hero of the story". Theres a LOT of different interpretations for this, such as him "waking up" and losing himself to his alternate nature, although he's obviously trying to fight it. Throughout the series he was brought up as a very important character, as a tie between the humans and the alternates, even possibly being the "mandela prophet" described at the end of vol4. If he was being set up as such an important character, this may signify the loss of the Mandela's last hope (maybe, idk lol). There's a lot of moments to fall back on in this scene, such as in vol2 when Gabe told him to "wake up" and "don't make me wake the others" (the other kidnapped children turned alternate sleeper agents i believe), the memorial video in vol4 where he screams for something to "please just get the fuck out of my head", the death of his mother in intruder alert, and his talk with Six, which may have been the start of his spiral, and when he began to isolate himself. Anyways, SUSPECT IDENTIFIED there's your FBI wanted tortured blonde man!!

SCREAMING. THE MOST HORRIFIC TORTURED SCREAMING YOUVE EVER HEARD. JUST SO MUCH SCREAMING. Adam still seems pretty much paralyzed though, which could be from a number of things, maybe all the shit he just did to himself, maybe the FUCKING BLEACH?? idk. his eyes also seemed to have turned black (possibly signifying the beginning of overdriven assimilation)?? im still wondering why Gabriel sent Thatcher here, seeing as i dont think he died, like Gabe said he would to Dave. Did he want Adam or possibly Preacher to kill him? Adam can barely even MOVE, let alone kill anyone. Maybe he wanted him to try and kill himself, at the sight of yet another person he couldn’t save (AGAIN, OUGH.) Adam stops screaming for a little bit to BEG FOR SOMEONE TO KILL HIM before going straight back to screaming, which then dies down into tortured sobs (someone save him…). This was confirmed in a patreon discord server I believe. My opinion is that this is a sign that he doesn’t want any of this and that he never had any bad intentions (or at least didn’t have TOO many bad intentions). IDKKKK ive been rambling way too much- AGHHH IM JUST SO INSANE ABT THIS EPISODE IDK HOW TO END THIS LONG ASS POST THANKS FOR READING BYEEE

So originally I was going to do a brief post about why I think Adam will reject the alternate hivemind in relation to the story of Adam and Eve, how Adam chose Eve over the creator, but then I started thinking a lot about M.A.D.

Then, I realised something.

This may be intentional or this may be me overthinking it, but I’ll point it out as a possibility nonetheless.

In the tapes spreading awareness about metaphysical awareness disorder, it’s said that ‘the remaining 3% makes it worth trying to reverse the delusion’, and when I first watched this, I thought it sounded familiar, and now I know why.

In Overthrone, Gabriel says something disturbingly similar in binary code. ‘I am the one true saviour. I must reverse the delusion. Joseph is next.’

I have a lot of thoughts on this that I can’t word exactly right now, but I’ll just leave this here as something for thought, although it’s probably been pointed out already. Im a little late to the Mandela Catalogue train.

We do know M.A.D is important though, so the idea there is a link here would make sense, whatever that link may be.

Ok so I’ve been wondering who tf is saying shit in Morse code in the one tv in the Mandela tech security cams on the website

Personally I can’t translate Morse code but I’ve heard a few variations of what people have translated but the most common is “I’m still here” (some say that it says “I’m still here thatcher, I miss you” or something similar I can’t totally remember)

So here are the possible options of who could be trying to communicate through it that I’ve come up with

1) Ruth. If the “I miss you thatcher” thing is true than it would make the most sense for it to be Ruth, but other than that I’m not totally sure why she would want to do this other than to provide some comfort/closure to thatcher which would be very epic

2) Dave. If it’s Dave then he’d most likely be trying to communicate what Gabriel is up to and warn thatcher/Evelin/whoever may read it, plus it’s been confirmed that he is the prophet so it would make some level of sense for him to be able to communicate beyond the grave (while we know Dave being the mandela prophet means that he was the one to give all the info to Gabriel, it could also mean that he’s trying to tell it to whoever sees his message, prophesying what Gabriel will do.) Or alt. Dave will happen which would also be epic

3) Six. Listen to me. With the Ruth alt we saw in Thatcher’s house in vol. 4, it’s clear that alternates trying to manipulate Thatcher’s grief isn’t working, but what if Six lures him away to become more vulnerable so he can do as he wishes to him, leading Thatcher in with the “I miss you Thatcher” thing to finally be able to do whatever it is he and Gabriel want Thatcher to do, which could very much have to do with Adam with the whole “THATCHER DAVIS DOOMS ALL” thing

Honestly I have no clue but I can’t wait to see what it means/if it will mean anything big

So I while I was rewatching vol. 4 of tmc I noticed a little something

During che malignance chapter when Dave reaches the church's entrance we see this shot

I spent a good 20 minutes trying to read what this sign says and I found it pretty interesting here it is:

The area has been declared a restricted area in accordance with title(?) s. E L.L.BL.C 1.3 EZ. Unauthorized entry is prohibited. All persons entering herein are subject to search.

Photographing or making notes, maps, drawings or graphic representations of the area or its activities is prohibited unless specifically authorized by the commanding officer. Any such material found in possession of unauthorized persons shall be confiscated.

You literally cannot do anything to record the church or its grounds unless authorized by the commanding officer? 🤔 Who are they? I don't think it's Gabe since he's the church "pastor" and that's it so who knows really.

It also gives the impression imo that Gabriel really does not want people to find out that place is crawling with alternates or him specifically is one. Is there some kind of indoctrination going on there with his "performances" ? Who knows what goes on inside there lmao.

It could also be referring to that field we can see beyond the sign, maybe they're keeping something there too who knows, I hope it gets cleared up later.

Anyway I just wanted to get this written in case no one had mentioned this before, also if you have any theories I'd be very happy to read them 🫡.

I wanna bring up TMC for a bit and talk about how the bible or any other christian, catholic, etc. media was depicted in that universe.

Cause we all know that in this universe, the evil(Hell, alternates, all that) triumphed over God and them. I have a few little theories:

a. People/believers from that time or later on changed the story into the story WE(the audience) know, making it seem like God won over all so people wouldn't lose faith in them.

b. Instead of believers or any other person, the alternates covered it all up and changed the story from the order of alt!gabriel so people would be distracted and not have suspicions on what really happened.

c. Something completely different and unknown happened that we don't know or know much of.

I wonder if God themselves will have an appearance somewhere and answer these questions, or if they even ARE anywhere. They've been referenced a good amount of times, I know that... But where are they?...
