Mutant Mayhem Was Good!
[Spoilers Ahead] So I just watched Mutant Mayhem and I have 5 things to say and point out. All I gotta say is...
1. MONA LISA?!
Okay, no one can tell me that don't look like Mona Lisa on that locker 😳
Tumblr media
Like it's the same position and everything!! If MM became a series (I forgot if I heard anything about this ngl-), then I hope we see her! Even if she turns out to be a human! She was a human in 1987 before she got mutated anyways. Also, Idk if that picture above (with the sunglasses) is another art piece, but what if that's Mona Lisa? 👀 She looks like a cool girl like one of those popular girls in school.
2. I wholeheartedly blame MM...
Tumblr media
for making me lowkey enjoy Leonardo x April or Aprilnardo... is that what it's called? Like the turtles act like such teenagers that the crush is quite wholesome ^ ^' I still cringed because omg, this is exactly how 2012 Donnie fell for April (at first sight) 😭 At least this time the crush isn't aggressively shoved down our throats (and obsessive/stalkerish)! MM's portrayal of a teenage crush is what the 2012 creators should've done! Innocent and quite wholesome 😊
3. Showed up to school looking like THIS
Tumblr media
If Leo wasn't a turtle and went to school like that, I think he'd be bullied 💀 Like why he dressed up like Jake From StateFarm? 😂 Full on about to tell me how much I can save on car insurance 😂 Seriously... if Rise Leo- no no, if ANY Leo could see him right now 😭
I can't draw whatsoever, but I hope to see someone create the other Leos reacting to MM Leo's outfit OR A Jake from StateFarm meme with MM Leo. Because these would be amazing 😂
4. Leo Need Some Back Bone
Tumblr media
Mans is over here being bullied about how his split-up name would be Leo Nardo and he didn't 👏 clap 👏 back. I'm only saying this because Raph Ael is way worse and no one noticed 😂 But I appreciate Leo's character in this movie. It is exactly how I would write him in every version; especially in 2012 (except Rise, that Leo is better at hiding anxiety).
I just realized that Donnie ain't much safe either. Tello would be a good last name, but that would mean his name would be Dona 💀 Unless he just sticks to Don Atello which is what he'd probably do x).
5. I wonder...
how would this universe's Casey look? 🤔
isn't Mondo Gecko a teenager? Why isn't he in school?
why is Leatherhead a female? And why she got an accent? If she was mutated in New York then how did she get an Australian accent?
and does the ooooooooze affect only animals? Because Idk if they said anything about it, but I assumed so (and would make sense why they had Splinter origin be a rat).

Hey , I was wondering how do you think the Bay Turtles would react to that Tik Tok trend where the gf called their bf their husband ? Like they could be at the lair and April calls reader amd reader is like " Ya I'm at my husbands place " etc.
This is the trend I'm talking about
https://vm.tiktok.com/ZGeypmGWK/
Very cute idea! Also Bayverse request! 😚👌💙
🐢Calling Them Your Husband🐢
💙❤️Bayverse TMNT x Reader💜🧡
Tumblr media
Word Count: 917
CW: Gender-neutral reader, calling him your husband 🥰, fluffy as hell, not proof-read.
TikTok was an interesting platform that you enjoyed scrolling through occasionally, and it wasn’t until one day you stumbled upon the couple side of TikTok. You were planning on scrolling past until a certain one caught your attention, and it certainly got you thinking…
Later that night, you and your boyfriend were doing your nightly activities as you usually did, when you got a sudden call from April. You answered with a smile, “Hey April, what’s up?” You ask, the conversation flowing naturally until she asked where you were at. Without hesitation, you answered, “Oh! Yeah, I’m at my husband's place.” You smile, before glancing over at the turtle beside you, getting the following reaction…
🐢💙Leonardo💙🐢
💙 Leo was staring rather intensely at you, feeling a flood of emotions course through him as he stared at you. He would then let out a soft chuckle, and waited until you hung up. He really liked that, oh he REALLY loved that actually, you saw him as your husband, huh?
💙 Once you hung up, he wrapped his arms around you and kissed you sweetly, “So, what was that about, hm?” He mused, as you giggled a bit. “You want to get married? Why didn’t you just say so?” He smiles, and you couldn’t find it in your heart to tell him it was a TikTok, you just couldn’t, not at the time anyways. And plus, I mean the topic was on your mind after all.
💙 “Oh yeah.” You grin as you draw him into a loving kiss, “Let’s get married?” You ask, smiling at him. A chuckle escapes him and he presses his forehead against yours, “Yeah… Let’s get married.” He swiftly lifts you up, bridal style, “And let’s make it soon. I want this husband title to be more permanent.” He chuckles. (Though you would have to tell him later down the line about this because you felt a tad bit guilty, spoiler; he was confused, but he was fine with it.)
🐢❤️Raphael❤️🐢
❤️ Raph gave you a soft chuckle, before placing a hand on your hip, “Damn right you are.” He smirked down at you. Now this, dear reader, stroked his ego, he absolutely loved it. He waits for you to finish up the call with April, lightly rubbing your skin in a loving manner as he was left with his thoughts for a moment.
❤️ Once you hung up, he kissed your head, “Husband, huh? Get that from somewhere?” He asks, and you couldn’t help but chuckle, “Yes… I did, it was a TikTok idea.” He playfully rolled his eyes, “Now you didn’t mean it?” He teased, making you panic, “Of course I did, Raph!” He let out a small laugh, “Easy, Dollface. I’m messing with you.” He would kiss your forehead, calming you down.
❤️ He was a little disappointed that it was a TikTok trend, but he does have to admit, you calling him your husband certainly felt good. Now he was rather tempted to make you a Hamato, if you catch my drift. But he’d wait, he wants it to be at the right time… For now, he’s just relentlessly bullies you (lovingly) about this for a good while.
🐢💜Donatello💜🐢
💜 Chokes, Donnie literally chokes. He was in the middle of drinking some apple juice when the phrase, ‘my husband’s’, gave him some whiplash with this one. He was choking and coughing, wiping away dripping juice as you panicked and hung up on April to help him, (RIP Donnie, died to apple juice 💀).
💜 Once you finish helping him clean up, he would finally regain his composure, his nostrils still stinging from the apple juice, he asks, “What was that about?” He wasn’t angry, not at all, just really confused about this whole thing. Husband? That’s not the right term, you guys aren’t married (yet)! You end up explaining, “Well… It was a TikTok trend and I kinda wanted to see how you’d react.” You admit.
💜 He chuckles and shakes his head at this, “A TikTok trend?” He asks, “Well, it certainly caught me off guard… But maybe don’t do that the next time I’m drinking apple juice, it isn’t pleasant in the throat nor the throat.” He warns, making you smile, “Right, sorry Don.” And you kissed his cheek, returning back to your fun nightly activities of working on his latest invention.
🐢🧡Michelangelo🧡🐢
🧡 Mikey goes along with it, he’s seen this trend. He wraps his arms around your waist and leans against your shoulder, speaking closer to the phone, “Yup~ Wifeys at my place!” He grins, and now you were feeling yourself get red in the face, now a little flustered that he went along with it. It kinda made you feel a little giddy inside.
🧡 Once hanging up, Mikey was giving you a smug smirk, “Tried to pull that one on me? Well I’m two steps ahead of you, angelcakes!” He grins as he’d kiss your cheek, making you groan, “Damn it, Mikey. I was hoping you’d be a little more on the surprised side, but alas, you know TikTok better than I do.” Making him laugh and nuzzle against your neck.
🧡 He placed sweet kisses along your neck, “Nah, that just takes the fun out of it.” He grins widely, pulling away to look into your eyes, “Plus, I’ve always wanted to call you wifey.” He smirked again when he saw you blush a little harder, making you sigh, “Fine fine! You win.” You groan, hugging him around the shoulders, as he laughed softly and nuzzled your cheek lovingly.

Timeless (Rise!Leo x Reader) (2012! Leo x reader)
ROTTMNT + 12’ TMNT x reader
Rise! Y/N meets 2012! Y/N
^could be read as Rise! Or 12! Leo x reader?
fluff :) gn reader, romantic, Drabble
SO SO PROUD OF THIS 🫶🏻
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
You still would've been mine
We would have been timeless
I would've read your love letters every single night
And run away and left it all behind
You still would've been mine
We would've been timeless
'Cause I believe that we were supposed to find this
So, even in a different life, you still would've been mine
We would've been timeless
“Wait, wait, wait. So you’re saying you’re me?” You shook your head as you processed, staring at…well, yourself. They looked like you, just ever so slightly different. They felt different, too.
“I know, right?” They laughed, looking down. It was evident they were just as shell-shocked (pun intended) as you. I mean, it really is baffling. Whether you believe it or not, the multiverse is actually real. You would think will everything you’ve seen in your time of knowing the turtles, this wouldn’t be so shocking.
But this was all so overwhelming. There’s another you? Not to mention another Donnie, Mikey, Raph, Splinter, April; all so different from each other…and another Leo.
“So…your Leo is really something, huh?” They cleared their throat, motioning their head towards the two blue-clad turtles. Your Leo was laughing obnoxiously (, probably at one of his own jokes,) and their Leo looking a little embarrassed.
“You could put it that way…” You rolled your eyes, but you couldn’t help the smile spreading on your face. He was your Leo.
They snickered in response, “For sure…mine is a little dense, but I still love him.”
Your eyes immediately shot up to meet theirs, full of surprise. “Wait…you guys are, like…a thing?”
“Yeah, you guys aren’t?” They seemed confused, almost like they already knew the answer.
“No, no, we are…I guess I shouldn’t be surprised.” You looked away, your head spinning with questions.
I mean, how was this even possible? Are there other versions of you? What are they like? What have these turtles faced? …Does this mean soulmates are real?
You looked up to them once again, hesitating. “Do you think it’s like this in every timeline?”
They met your gaze with a warm grin, taking your hand in theirs before looking back at their Leo then to yours, “I really hope so.”
You didn’t say it, but you did too. You really, really, really did. You wanted every iteration of you to find what you two have. To be pulled by the invisible string of fate and find each other. Even if every Leo wasn’t the same, that there would always be one similarity. That he would your Leo. And you’re sure that every version of you felt that way, too, especially the one sitting in front of you now.
“Please,” they spoke up again, “I want to hear all about you…and your Leo, I guess.”
You laughed openly, nodding, “where do I even start?”

Canon Facts About TMNT 2012 Everyone Seems To Forget, But I Remember For Some Reason (Part 2):
Shout to my friend @pumpkinpie59 for having a good memory and remembering some of these other fun facts that slipped my mind. I decided to put them and other facts I remembered all together in their own post. Check out Part 1
Casey hates dubbed anime
April is apart of her school’s chess club
April is failing trigonometry but is also Casey’s tutor in the subject
Karai is 1/8th Chinese
Some characters often refer to the Turtles as “Yokai” or “Kappa”, Yokai are mythical Japanese monsters and Kappa are turtle yokai
Raph once dressed up as a fairy princess for Halloween
According to the official TMNT 2012 concept art book, Leo has a “man-crush” on Captain Ryan (Bisexual Leo confirmed??)
The Turtles like to hang out in Mikey’s room when they are bored
Raph can play the drums
Shinigami’s cats eye hypo ball weapon is a family heirloom, meaning her entire family are all witches and magic users
The Rat King and Dr Rockwell are old friends/colleagues
Before he met Raph, Casey had a childhood best friend named Nick who he no longer speaks to because of a hockey game incident
Donnie is a milk guy #milkatello
Mikey is one of the only people who can make Karai laugh
Fishface hosts an underground racing tournament as a way to earn some extra cash (does Shredder not pay his henchmen?)
April’s dad is a psychologist
There is a meteor that flies by on Karai’s birthday. Every year, Splinter would go up top to watch the meteor and wish his daughter a happy birthday, and unknown to him, Karai (when she was trapped in her snake form) would also watch the meteor.
April used to wear glasses and had braces before she met the Turtles, meaning April wears contact lenses and most likely wears a retainer when she sleeps
Mutant Apocalypse is one of many alternate timelines for the Turtles’ future
Raph hates sour cream
Fugitoid used to be a selfish and greedy man
Renet has been promoted from Assistant Time Master In Training to Junior Assistant Time Master
Casey is left handed
When the Turtles are asleep, Splinter plays their video games and is pretty good
Muckman is known to the public as New York’s mutant superhero, he often uses this image to cover for the turtles, taking the credit while they did all the work in the shadows
With her psychic powers, April can enter people’s dreams
When Raph, Slash, Rockwell and Karai were under the brainworm’s control they were consciously aware of everything they were doing, but were unable to control their actions
Bebop and Rocksteady left New York and became heroes in New Jersey
According to the producers, in the future Raph and Mona Lisa got married and had turtle-lizard hybrid babies

Note
I remember when you first started Replica and I haven't been here in a hot minute!
May you please do a debrief of what it is, the characters and their relationships.
I want to be able to give my friend (who I finally dragged down into this TMNT rabbit hole) a good explanation of your wonderful comic!
(. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)
Aw thank you so much! Hm… I suppose a summary would be good to have on hand. For the uninitiated with no context, here is the basic elevator pitch:
The year is 2044 and the last remaining Resistance of Earth has just fallen to the alien invaders known as the Krang. In a last ditch effort to save the planet, Casey, a freedom fighter is sent back in time to undo the events that first led to the invasion. While he is ultimately successful in his mission, the state of his original fallen timeline remains unknown. The last of the freedom fighters, his family, perished to ensure his safe escape, leaving their world to the mercy of the Krang.
Which brings us to the ultimate question: when you already know the heroes are doomed to fail, what can be gained from being told their story?
Tumblr media
For the rest below, I’m going to write with the assumption that the reader has some basic knowledge of the series and the film because I feel that this story is best enjoyed with proper context.
SUMMARY
Replica is a story meant to answer many of the questions the first 4 minutes of the movie left us wondering. It’s to explain the basic history of the bad future timeline and how it came to be. The plot focuses particularly on the later half of the apocalypse, all with the intention of leading up to the opening scene where the Krang wins and Casey Junior is sent back in time to fix the mistakes that Leo and his family could not.
It’s to answer questions like:
How did Leo get injured?
Why is Mikey so old looking?
What were these characters like in the future?
What happened to Raph, Donnie, and April?
Where is big bad Krang Prime in all this?
How did the Resistance finally lose to the Krang?
Did they plan to send Casey back in time in advance?
What happened to this world/time-branch after Casey Jr was sent into the past?
MAIN CHARACTERS
For the most part, the cast is comprised entirely of characters from the series. My goal is to keep this as canon as possible, so no new OC's... save for one (kind of).
Tumblr media
Omega Bootyyyshaker 9000 is where this story starts and ultimately where it ends. He is a brain scan AI of Donatello, created to act as both a support system for the Resistance after the turtle’s untimely death and also a key component in a plan that will hopefully put a stop to the Krang should the Resistance fail. Omega is great because he adds some much needed levity to the story, acting a bit more like the aloof but silly teenage Donnie (a side affect of not having to experience the usual physical weariness that comes with being an organic, aging organism in an apocalypse). However, he also adds more weight by being the thing that is supposed to outlast all of them and act as the last line of defense for the remainder of the universe. He claims to merely be a "replica" of Donnie's mind, but whether he's just a digitized scan, his own AI person, or somehow connected to Donnie in a deeper way has yet to be seen.
Tumblr media
Leonardo Hamato: the man, the myth, the legend. Casey Junior spins tales of how great his sensei was in the movie, but in this story we really get to see Leo go from his lowest point as a pawn for the government, crushed by the shame of his past actions, to his greatest height as the leader of the Resistance. He is going to fail a lot in this story... but ultimately his greatest success is overcoming his own inner demons and coming to terms with being the father figure he had never asked to be. He cares deeply for his family and Casey... but he thinks he'd be a horrible dad.
Tumblr media
Michelangelo Hamato: the only other surviving turtle to see the end of the world. He is the emotional bedrock of the family and a stand in therapist when he's not being a silly little guy. His mystical powers are unparalleled, but in his attempts to regain his lost Ninpo he taps into something far deeper, leading them down a path that intertwines the destiny of their doomed future and a past that has yet to occur.
Tumblr media
Casey Jones Jr: a sweet boy taken in by the Hamato family. He strives to become a great warrior like his mother (Cassandra) and his Sensei (Leo). We are going to watch him grow from child to teenager as he slowly takes on the roll of being a fighter in the resistance. Through it all he must walk an unsteady line that allows him to find the strength to weather the storm but retain a certain spark of hope that helps keep his family going.
Tumblr media
April O'neil: Commander of the Resistance and another honorary Hamato family member. She is the voice of reason and most emotionally stable of the family. Even after dealing with so much loss, she keeps a stiff upper lip as well as cold and calculating mind that always puts the colony's wellbeing first and foremost.
Tumblr media
Donatello Hamato (deceased): The story begins shortly after Donnie’s passing during an infiltration mission against the Krang. He was dead set on planting a probe behind enemy lines that would allow them to spy on the Krang’s movements. However it seems that he had a secret agenda in planting something that would work as a final doomsday weapon against the Krang. What that is exactly, we do not yet know. The man self-destructed in a last ditch effort to avoid being interrogated by the Krang as well as a final attack to injure Krang Prime.
Tumblr media
Raphael Hamato (deceased): The eldest brother who sadly passed away many years ago in the fight against the Krang. A boisterous but considerate man whose death sapped a great deal of the fighting spirit out of his brothers. His absence is greatly felt, but he might not be as far gone as he seems.
Tumblr media
Krang Prime (One): Our big bad of the story. He is the leader of the Krang that has latched onto this planet like a cancer, using up its resources and assimilating its population. However, unlike the hundreds of planets that have come before this one is particularly personal. He doesn't want to merely assimilate but utterly destroy the descendants that caused his imprisonment thousands of years ago. His current state is unknown after being last seen with Donatello at the time of the man's self-destruction.
NEED TO KNOW DETAILS
All Resistance fighters have tiny self destruct bombs in their brains so that the Krang can not probe their minds to find out the Liberty Colony's location. They go off automatically after Krang infestation reaches a certain percentage, but can also be set off via voice command.
Donnie's brain bomb was far more potent because of the amount of information he knew. He did not want to risk the Krang getting any part of his mind.
The Krang have been searching for the resistance in a frustrating game of cat and mouse which has only become more difficult now that the Resistance easily knows their every move by using Donnie's probe.
Central Park Colony: now destroyed, but was once the last massive human colony in North America, housing both the EPF (Earth Protection Force) and US Government. Racism was a huge problem as most yokai and mutants were either quarantined, tested on, or used as living weapons in the fight against the Krang. It has since been destroyed.
Liberty Colony (aka the Resistance): grew from the ashes of the Central Park Colony. It is comprised of the survivors and lead by Leonardo, April, and several others. It is much smaller and more militaristic, but treats yokai, humans, and mutants equally.
Artificial Intelligence (like Omega and Shelldon) are able to fend off the Krang assimilation that people and tech would normally succumb to. It is for this reason Omega is used as both a protector of the Liberty Colony and operator for a majority of the vehicles so that the tech can no longer be easily taken over by the Krang during attacks.
Leonardo and Michelangelo (as well as Donatello's) Ninpo have all been stripped from them by this point in the story. While Leo can not tap into his family connection at all, Mikey at least has regained the ability to use some of his mystic powers.
Mikey's mystic abilities however come at a price. Since he can not tap into his Ninpo and the fountain of energy from his ancestors, he is instead using his own life force to cast his spells. It is slowly draining him.

Hope this helps! Sorry it's a bit long, tried to break it up with images. At least there might be a few interesting bits of information other readers may not have noticed. I snuck in a few things that haven't been mentioned yet, hehe.

Fragile Part 4
Remember Sophie from Howl’s Moving Castle? Well, that’s you this chapter :]
Generation: Bayverse TMNT
Tmnt x Reader Fanfic
Pronouns: Gender Neutral (except ‘dudette’ and ‘princess’)
Warnings: injury, wholesome, lots of cleaning, not proof read
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
“You IDIOTS!” A crash resounded in the room as Stockman knocked over a table full of metal tools. “How could you let go the ONE MUTANT that survived all the testing phases!” Another crash as beakers and chemicals were knocked off a table. “I never should have left you FOOLS in charge of guarding the lab. This could set us back months of progress. If we don’t find that girl, Karai will have my head!”
With an angry huff Stockman fell into his dusty office chair and spun over to his computer. He was working on updating all the computer systems there in the old Sacks building. He had joined the Foot in taking up residence there since you had compromised their position at the warehouse laboratory by the docks. They couldn’t risk a raid from the turtles and losing all his research. This location wasn’t the most inconspicuous considering its history, but since the Shredder’s initial defeat at the hands of the turtles and April, the building had been deemed unstable and labeled condemned. Since it was difficult to dismantle such a large skyscraper in the middle of the city, it had been mostly left unoccupied for the past several years. Making it the ideal base for Foot activity.
As he was sorting through old records on the computer, he came across an interesting clip in the archived surveillance videos.
“Hmm…. interesting…. Yes, if I do that- yes…. YES! This will work nicely.” Stockman chuckled darkly to himself as he got up from his chair. Bebop and Rocksteady shared a confused look and shrugged, not understanding the sudden change in the scientist’s mood.
“Uuuuuh, hey boss, so what are we going to do about them?”
“You two aren’t going to do anything. …. yet.” Baxter’s dark chuckle echoed as he disappeared down the hallway.
It has been 2 weeks since you met the turtles.
Initially, April had brought you a duffle bag full of comfy clothes a little bit too big for you, and some essential toiletries. You couldn’t remember the last time you had a hot shower with conditioner and soft sweatpants to put on after. Leo’s bed was warm and clean, Michelangelo cooked you delicious comfort food, and Donatello downloaded all of your favorite movies and shows you had missed. Raph one night had even knit you a cozy cardigan. The boys were all making an effort to make you feel more comfortable. But you couldn’t help but notice the reason.
You were still scared.
Every night you woke to terrible nightmares. And every day you felt like you were still walking on broken glass. Startling at any sudden sound or slightest touch. You noticed how Leo looked at you with pity, and Mikey wore a faltering smile. Donnie kept busy working on tracking the Foot, aside from regularly changing your bandages, and Raph- Raph just tried to keep his distance.
You didn’t blame them. You were a stranger in their home. You were finally in a safe place, but it was like your body was still in survival mode. High strung and anxious. You wanted to do something for them. Anything, to repay them and make yourself feel useful. A distraction.
Master Splinter had on many occasions noticed your stressed and mousy demeanor. He felt the unease in their home and the distance his sons kept with their new ward. Like neither party knew how to find common ground.
One night, he requested you join him in his meditation room for tea. You obliged.
“I sense your unease.” He stated casually.
You hesitated, then nodded. You didn’t know how to respond.
“There is nothing to be ashamed about. For so long, you lived every day, not knowing if it would be your last. You lost your autonomy, your freedom. And yet you escaped all on your own. You are very brave.”
“….Thank you. I just wish I could feel that way. I feel so… scared. Like I’ll wake up back in that lab again and all of this would have been a dream. I… I don’t know what to do with myself.” You fussed with the teacup in your hands.
Splinter reached across the table and offered you his hand as a comfort. You took it gently and sighed.
“It will take time before you begin to feel like yourself again. My boys can be a little… reserved at times. It is not often we get to interact with friendly humans. Trust me when I say, they also wish for your comfort and safety. It just may take some time for them to get used to another presence in our home. In the meantime, perhaps there is something you can do that will make you feel more at home?”
You were surprised by his suggestion. They had already offered their home up to you, you wouldn’t dare ask anything more of them. But maybe…
“….a-actually… there might be something. If I could have your permission of course.”
Splinter smiled at you.
Once your injuries had fully healed, Splinter had called upon April and Casey’s help to assist you. There was some materials you needed of course, and Mikey was let in on the big secret. You felt guilty roping in so many people just to help you feel more comfortable, but there was something you wanted to do for them, as a thank you for taking you in. April seemed ecstatic at the proposition and was eager to bring you the supplies. Casey just seemed confused that this was something you wanted to do of your own free will. And Mikey- well, he was just excited to share a hobby with you.
The cooking part, that is. Not the cleaning.
Ever since you had been brought down to the lair for safe keeping, you had noticed one glaringly obvious thing. This was a man cave in every sense of the word. The lair was terribly dirty. Dust and grime everywhere. The only clean places you noticed were the dojo, Leo’s room, and Master Splinter’s quarters. You understood that they were all living in a sewer, and they had clearly made a bit of an effort to keep it clean. But you were through avoiding sticky spots on the floor and sitting on a dirty couch.
First things first: Donnie’s dirty coffee mug hoard. The purple turtle was currently napping in his room after an all nighter doing surveillance in coordination with the police, so now was the perfect time to clean up his station. You were extremely grateful to April for including a pair of rubber gloves in the bags of cleaning supplies she brought for you. Mikey helped you collect all the mugs and bring them to the sink, where he was in charge of washing them while you cleaned off all of Donnie’s work tables where he tinkered. You were careful not to move any projects, but wiped it clean of all its dust and stains. Then carefully sanitized all his keyboards and mouse, cleaned all of the monitors (yes all of them), and swept away the crumbs on the floor around his chair.
Once that was complete, you moved on to the living room. Leo was currently preoccupied meditating with Master Splinter in the dojo, so no one was around to notice you swoop in and descend on the couch. Thankfully the boys no longer had a couch made of empty pizza boxes, and had upgraded to a large sectional that Casey had found them used for cheap up top. You were certain that the couch covers had never been washed since it was brought down to the sewers. You were doubly certain that the boys probably didn’t even know the cushion covers could be removed and washed. You threw the covers into the washing machine on hot water with a healthy amount of soap. Mikey then helped you move the couch so you could clean the floor underneath, and smashed the cockroach that had scrambled out from underneath. The coffee table was wiped down, the rug was taken to a railing to be hung and the dust beat out by Mikey with his nunchucks, and the floor mopped clean.
Next was the workout room. Raph had just finished his exercise and left for the bathroom to take a shower, so you rushed in and started cleaning off every dusty and grimy sweat covered surface you could find. There was a musky scent of dirt and sweat permeating the room. All the dumbbells had a build up of grime from their sweaty hands using them for so many years. You also made sure to sanitize all of the mats and floors as well. By the time you were finished, Raph was leaving the shower and went to his room. You hid so he wouldn’t notice you as he passed by, unassuming. Then you were left with the big task.
The bathroom.
You were certain if there was a soundtrack playing in the background, dramatic horror music would be playing. You rolled up your sleeves and went in. Toilets, showers, sinks, and the massive bathtub, all scrubbed down with an unholy amount of bleach until every tiled surface shined. By the time you were finished, Mikey had come in to tell you he was ready to start on the kitchen. That was Mikey’s domain.
You were grateful that all the dishes were already clean by the time you entered the kitchen. But Mikey needed your help when it came to the cupboards and fridge.
“Mikey? ….Why do you have 3 year old expired sour cream in the fridge?”
“Huh? Isn’t it supposed to be ‘sour’? It still looks good, doesn’t it?”
“Mikey there is black mold growing in it.”
“Oh, so…. That’s not pepper then.”
By the time you had finished clearing out the fridge and cupboards of everything expired or moldy, you had filled 3 trash bags full of garbage. Mikey helpfully took out the trash while you cleaned and organized the fridge and cupboards, and wiped down all the surfaces. By the time Mikey returned, you were rifling through the brown paper bag April got you full of ingredients and spices you had requested.
“What’s cookin’ good lookin’?” Mikey cheerfully greeted you as he rejoined you in the now clean kitchen.
“Well… if I remember the recipe correctly, I want to make the dish my mom always made for me…”
Mikey looked at you surprised for a moment, then excitement overtook him. “Cool! Can I help?”
You perked up at the suggestion. “Will you? I’d,… I’d love that, thank you!” Your expression melted into a warm smile, and Mikey felt his heart skip a beat.
You looked so pretty when you smiled, he thought to himself.
He wanted to see you smile more, just like that.
You both washed your hands and got to work. On the freshly clean kitchen counter, you had Mikey kneed cold butter into flour to make a dough, while you cut vegetables and cooked chicken on the stove. By the time Mikey was ready with the dough, there were 6 pie tins lined up to add the crust. The oven dinged and the base crust went in to brown while you stirred a large pot on the stove. Then you took out the pies and added the filling, and covered the tops with more dough. You were surprised at how large their oven was, but they were 4 giant mutant turtles and a rat. You had no doubt that each of the boys would eat a whole pie themself. The extra 2 were for Splinter, you, April, and Casey, who would be joining everyone later.
Once the oven door closed, Mikey turned up the radio that had been quietly humming tunes in the background as a fun song you hadn’t heard before played through the speakers. (‘Bad idea right?’ by Olivia Rodrigo started playing.) Mikey’s head started bobbing and he grabbed the wooden spoon you had been stirring with and began mouthing the words into it like a microphone. You giggled at his antics as he pointed a green finger at you and beckoned you out into the open of the room. You felt drawn to join him as the pop song got your head bobbing to the beat. You felt a feeling well up in your chest as the chorus started building up. Excitement bubbling until the chorus peaked and your head bobbing turned into jumping around. Before you knew it, you were dancing around the living room with Mikey holding your hands and spinning you around. You lost yourself in the freeing feeling of the stress and anxiety getting washed away by the music. All the cleaning you had done was so stress relieving you were starting to feel like yourself again.
Little did you know, the music had drawn the attention of the other brothers. Leo and Master Splinter came out from their meditation to watch in the doorway, Leo smiled and crossed his arms as he looked at you. Raph came out freshly dressed and looked surprised but shared a look with Leo that made them smirk at you and their little brother’s antics. Then Donnie trudged out and leaned against his door frame and fixed his glasses to make sure he was in fact seeing you correctly.
You were smiling, laughing, and dancing.
“It seems as though we are seeing Miss (y/n) for the first time today.” Mused Splinter, the old rat brushing his beard.
Just then April and Casey walked in, carrying boxes they had brought down from up top.
“Hey guys, what’s going on?” April asked putting down her box.
You were happily giggling as Mikey spun you around at the end of the song. April grinned, happily surprised at the scene. Casey walked in behind her and started looking around the lair like he was seeing it for the first time, setting his box down next to April’s. This prompted Leo, Raph, and Donnie to also take a better look around their home. They slowly all walked out into the living space, looking in all directions.
“.... Where did all my coffee cups go…?”
“Hm? Oh! They’re washed and in the cupboard!” You answered cheerily.
“.... Does…. Does the gym smell like oranges?” Raph said, baffled.
“.... Where did all the dust go? ….Does the couch look clean to you?” Leo nudged Donnie to bring his attention to the freshly washed couch covers.
There was a beat of heavy silence as the boys took in the new state of their home, then the timer above the oven dinged and you ran over to put on your oven mitts.
“The food’s ready!” You called out cheerfully.
In the next few minutes, everyone was sitting around the small kitchen table. Each turtle with a full pie in front of them, and large slices cut for Splinter, April, and Casey, and a smaller cut for yourself.
“Damn, what’s this? Smells great!” Casey exclaimed.
“My mom showed me how to make this, it’s chicken pot pie. I hope you like it!” You said a bit shyly now that you had calmed down a bit.
You watched as all the boys and April picked up a spoon and dug in, taking their first bite. There was a chorus of groans of approval as the boys hummed approvingly around their bite.
“Oh my god my mouth is singing!” Mikey exclaimed, trying to shovel the pie into his mouth.
“How did you manage to get this level of flakiness into the crust? Was there any special preparation when kneading the dough?” Donnie questioned. Then Mikey mumbled out around a full mouth, ‘cold butter, dude’ which Donnie had to ask him to repeat when his mouth wasn’t full.
“Wow… I’ve never had anything like this before. Did you make this?” Leo asked. Raph was grunting in approval with each new bite he took, absorbed in his food from across the table.
You blushed and nodded. It didn’t take long for everyone to clean their plates. Casey, Mikey, and Raph all fought for seconds. Master Splinter and April were sharing very pleased looks on their faces, like they were conspiring all along. Once everyone was finished, you stood up and started to collect plates from the table.
“Oooooh no, you did enough cleaning today, let someone else take a turn, shortie.” Raph stood up to stop you.
“I don’t mind, really!” You urged, but you weren’t paying attention to where you were walking and bumped into Mikey who was taking his own plate to the sink.
The plate dropped from his hand in surprise, and faster than anyone could react, your freehand shot out and grabbed the plate. There was a cracking sound and everyone froze to look at you. There you were, balancing 5 large heavy ceramic plates stacked in one hand, while your other hand was holding onto Mikey’s plate that had cracked and fractured in your grip. You were stunned.
“Woah… what just happened?” Mikey broke the silence.

Soooo, funny story. @heckitall started a very cool crossover between the Rise and 03 TMNT and I. May have. Immediately became invested.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like. I was worried for days about one of the characters. Soooo I made some fanart. And then couldn't decide which version I liked best, so I dunno. Here's three! With bonus detail shots under the cut.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's called 'Same as it Never Will Be' and is linked in their pinned post!
Images 1-3: rendered illustrations of (on the left) the cast of TMNT 03, and toddler versions of Rise Leo and Donnie. 03 Raph and Leo are in the foreground, holding injured Rise Leo and Donnie. R!Donnie is biting 03 Leo, while squirming and reaching to the right, and holding R!Leo's hands. R!Leo is being held by an angry 03 Raph. In the background, in the TMNT 03 lair, 03's Splinter, Casey, April, Leatherhead, and an injured Mikey are looking on in various stages of amusement or resignation.
On the right is an illustrated render of the Rise cast meeting up after the events of the movie. R!Raph and Mikey are in the foreground, with Raph holding a toddler version of 03!Donnie, who is upset and reaching toward the left. Mikey is also upset, and gesturing at Raph. They are both visibly injured and battle damaged. In the background of a destroyed New York, scuffed up R! April, Splinter, and Casey Jr are running and swinging their way towards Mikey and Raph, all looking visibly distressed.
Both illustrations are framed and bordered by white-gray mist, with ripple patterns overlaying parts of the whole image. The title of the work and authors name ( 'Same as it Never Will Be' and Heckitall) are written on the bottom border in purple text with blue spray paint effect behind them. Between the two illustrations is a representation of a portal with the the abbreviation of the title (SAINWB) in white over top of it.
There are small differences between images 1-3 in terms of lighting and coloring effects.
Images 4-7 are detail shots of the two illustrations with some lighting effects removed.

The Lair Games
a/n: raaa i love the lair games best mfing episode so whimsical and fun raaaaa also im obsessed with lair games cheerleader hc, italics are interviews (i didnt put everyones interview in only the readers)
Let me know if you would like to be on my tmnt taglist!
Warnings: donnie is a drama queen, The Incident, throwing up mentioned
Word count: 702
I love the lair games and Donnie sm
Sigh the lair games, the time when only Leo wins and then spends an entire year gloating
While it is very fun watching everyone compete a part of you feels bad for Donnie because he NEVER even gets close to winning
That is…until this year
Every year you take it upon yourself to be Donnie’s cheerleader because oh man he needs it. As long as you’re there cheering even as he's losing miserably, he's a little less bitter about it
This year was going to be different though you could feel it! History was about to be made
April had told you before that she was going to record the games, and everyone was even more excited
“Sigh, my legacy of losing will be cemented in film history”
It's now the most anticipated day of the year, the day that everyone looks forward to and trains for this year the prize would be…Leo’s room!
The first game of the day was Handstand Hill Bomb and like every year Leo won first place but this year Donnie won second!
“Let’s go Donnie Let’s go!” you cheer as it’s almost time for the next game, Pipe Goop Chicken
“My personal least favorite game if Donnie wins this one he's not kissing me for a month I swear”
“Let’s go Donnie Let’s go!” you cheer once again
“Do you have any more creative cheers?”
“No, get what you get, and don't throw a fit”
And he won! (Kind of a win-lose scenario, beat Leo and rub it in his face and lose smooches)
Win after shocking win Donnie acquired with Leo hot on his tail and you as his loyal cheerleader yelling catchy cheers while shaking purple and black pompoms
That was until…the incident
“y/n can i get a comment about…the incident?”
“Sleep with one eye open Leo. That’s all I will say on the matter”
While Donnie was recovering Leo began his winning streak
“Cough cough…y/n is that you?”
“Donnie you’re not dying stop acting like a sick Victorian child”
“Take me to the surface…one last time…” he says pulling the blanket up to be under his arms
“Shut up,” you say scratching under his chin then sadly going back to the games
“My moment!” he shouts as you walk back to Splinter announcing Leo’s next victory
Just as Splinter announces Leo’s perfect 10 Donnie appears!
“Not so fast, my friend!” Donnie announces masked in smoke (drama queen I love him)
“I’m here brother, lets bowl”
“When Donnie showed up I was stunned! Just a minute before he was pretending he was a sick Victorian child,” you explained to the camera
After all of Donnie’s dramatics, it was time to bowl. He launches himself off and attempts to get his ankle into his shell
Just as he was able to he’s launched into the mannequins knocking all down…
…But one making it a tie and after consulting the rules the next event was left up to a…
Splinter’s choice
“I knew that rat man would come up with something sinister but I didn't think it would be THAT sinister!”
The final event would be the Slippery Whippery Woo?
“If I vom please hold my hair April”
“We can hold each other's hair”
“Hold my nonexistent hair please”
“We will Mikey”
Your cheerleading was quickly forgotten about not knowing if you should root for your boyfriend to catch his slipper rat father or just leave
The match was quickly over with the words “Do you know what rhymes with second place? Leo’s face!”
“I-i- need a shower…I will claim my prize when i'm clean”
As Leo moves out of his room, April closes in for a final interview, and Donnie gloats
“I’m very proud of you Donnie,” you say kissing your hand and touching his forehead
“You’re very lucky i’m touching you right now,” you say, a lovesick smile plastered to both of your faces
Later that night the two of you are unable to sleep
The one thing Leo didn’t mention is that Splinter’s snores are amplified by the vent directly in his room
Needless to say, Leo got his room back very quickly

my tmnt iteration 🐢
yoshi aka splinter found the 4 turtles inside a crashed TCRI truck. the mutagen from broken canisters covered both him and the turtles mutating them. it is implied that when struck by the truck the blow killed yoshi but the mutagen restarted his heart and mended any injuries, reviving him. the turtles aren’t biologically sister as they are of different species and therefore from different clutches. as turtles they had anywhere between months and a day age difference but when mutated it translated into human years explaining the 2 year gap between mikey and leo/raph but the age is estimated and instead of birthday the turtles celebrate their mutation day. splinter eventually discovered an abandoned metro station that was never opened and decided to stay in there as their home. the station had a small cafe area and public restroom and thankfully hasn’t been cut from the city’s power and water grids. april met the turtles when they were 7 and she was 16, splinter left them in an alleyway while looking for food and supplies and april stumbled upon them. at first splinter was really freaked out when he saw april but when he realised she was friendly and didn’t mean no harm they got to know each other and sometimes april would come down to the lair to babysit the turtles while splinter was out. she eventually introduced the turtles to pizza when she brought a box with her and they fell in love with it.
the designs are mid show of sorts that are after the barn arc
leonardo: a bellinger turtle with leatherback sea turtle genes. the eldest and the most aquatic out of all the turtles. likes spending her time swimming in the flooded metro tunnel situated in the centre of their lair. she got a similar virus to what regular bellinger turtles have making her slowly lose her vision as she aged. that did not stop her as she learned to rely on her other sense and acquired a 6th sense of sorts to help her get around. her blindness doesn’t hinder her in combat and actually makes her more capable of moving around in the dark than her sisters but still she cannot see faces so instead she maps them out in her mind by touching them with her hands to memorise them. she has shell cell just like everyone else except it is modified to show in braille. in her free time she enjoys listening to music or audio books and if her sisters are around listening to tv while one of them describes the action on the screen. she has physical hatsune miku memorabilia like figures and plushies that she can touch. leo can still see in blurs of colour but no matter what donnie tried she couldnt help her vision. she is self conscious of the scars given to her by shredder and tries to cover them with a hood. while still agile and strong she has issues with her right knee and wears a knee brace. her element is the ocean waves
raphael: a red crowned turtle with cherryhead tortoise genes. she is the second eldest. she is the worst swimmer but makes up for it in physical strength. the piece of her plastron was cracked during an accident while they were small and the lore for the gold tooth is yet to be decided. the flame carving on her plastron was made by mikey. she is extremely protective of her sister and although gets jealous by assuming that leo is splinter’s favourite still loves her very much. has a tortoise named spike a small brine shrimp tank. she was the first to meet casey and thought back against her drunk father. her element is flame
donatello: a painted turtle with softshell turtle genes. she is the middle child and spends most of her time in her lab. she built the heat lamp above the sitting area where her and her sisters like to bask and relax after a long day. her shell was crushed by rocksteady and bebop but fortunately with leatherheads helped bring her back with a new metal carapace to replace her old on. sarcastic and cool headed, her personality resembling 87 raph. her love language is random niche gadgets. she is the next most aquatic after leo and sometimes joins leo for a swim. her element is lightning
michelangelo: the most creative out of all of them and has a lot of hobbies ranging between art and crafts to cooking and skateboarding. is the glue of the family with a spunky attitude and quick thinking. although the worst fighter out of her family she still can handle herself in a fight. has an orange tabby cat she named klunk that she found while looking for scraps at a junkyard. she can be a little absent minded but she is definitely not unintelligent and takes great offence to anyone babying her. her element is constellations

whoa, i wrote a thing. the first chapter of my tmnt "sorry, teenage mutant what now?" au is live on ao3, or can be read below the cut!!! complete with sketchy title card and dumb chapter title. do i have any real experience writing fics??? no!!! am i gonna do my best anyway!?!? yes i am!!!
“Did you drink all the milk AGAIN!? Dude!—"
“What?! You know I need an exact milk-to-rice-chex ratio in order to enjoy my breakfast, Leo!”
“Have any of you seen my dance bag? It’s not where I left it!”
“Why do you need it, anyway? Isn’t dance on Thursday?”
“Leo, today is Thursday.”
“What? No, it’s not. If it was Thursday, then my American Literature essay would be due, and I haven’t even started it yet, so there’s NO WAY—“
“If my toaster is destroyed, I will be making whichever child is responsible pay for the replacement!” The warning rang out over the general chaos of the morning.
“Oh shoot—“ Yoshi could hear the frantic scrabble of a belated attempt to rescue the burning pop tart, which Yoshi could smell from all the way in the living room. Parked in his reclining chair, the TV playing in front of him, he munched contentedly on his own breakfast which he had acquired earlier before his teenage sons descended upon the kitchen. He was not much of a ‘morning person,’ but it was a necessity if he was to eat in any sort of peace in the mornings.
This was a typical morning in the Hamato household.
Yoshi was used to it by now. The bickering, the bumbling, the hectic last-minute "wait I forgot something's--" it was all just a part of the routine. Sure, it had been a bit exhausting at times when they were all still children, and he had to scramble about like a madman each morning to ensure they had everything they needed to get where they were going. But at this point? He could more or less just ignore them and allow them to work things out by themselves, only occasionally needing to step in and offer a bit of guidance. He had always been a bit of a... Hands-off parent, for better or for worse, but he was fairly certain that he had finally found the rhythm of things over the past several years. Not that that made him a perfect parent by any means, there had certainly been plenty of occasions--
"APRIIIIILLLLLL O'NEIL!!!" The battle cry and hearty thud of his poor front door put a sudden end to his narration, and, though it happened near every day, he startled in response, just barely avoiding dropping his tea.
"April!" He bellowed from his chair, turning just enough to peer into the kitchen, where his honorary fifth child (as if he needed any more…) and next-door neighbor had just appeared. "How many times must I tell you?! If you break my door, I will--!"
"Aw, c'mon, Yosh, you know I gotta make a bold entrance at the start of the morning, or my mojo is gonna be off for the whole rest of the day! Besides, I haven't broken the door yet, and it's been how many years?"
“Bah! Haven't broken my door yet, maybe, but what about my bed frame? Or my printer? Or my third-favorite koi fish figurine?!"
"Oh, you wanna play that game now?" O'Neil countered, narrowing his eyes behind scarlet frames, crossing her arms across her chest and cocking one hip to the side. "Okay, then, how about my window? Or my mom's antique vase? Or my literal entire bathroom--"
"Okay! Okay, enough!" Yoshi spluttered with a dismissive wave of his hands. Dammit. The fact he was technically responsible for his sons’ occasional partaking in light property destruction was still, in his opinion, the most unfair and annoying part of parenting. "Fine! Break down the door for all I care! Burn the entire place to the ground! See if I do anything about it! Teenagers..." He muttered with a scowl, shaking his head and returning to his program, an exaggerated scowl on his face. The kids, to their credit, knew well enough by now not to take his rants and mumblings too seriously and quickly re-engaged themselves in whatever gossip and chatter they had previously been wrapped up in.
Yoshi smiled just the tiniest bit, listening with one ear as Donatello explained to a devastated Leonardo that it was, in fact, Thursday, bringing up evidence on his cell phone, and Raphael and April pulled Mikey's dance bag out from inside the oven, where he had forgotten it for the third time this past month.
This was not where he had imagined his life would take him when he was young. Not even close.
He would not trade these moments for anything at all.
By the time his television show was ending, he was just finishing off his tea and shoveling the rest of his bagel into his mouth. Game shows, he had found years ago, were an excellent means of timing routines, and he had it to a science by now. He pulled himself to his feet, stretching and cracking his back loud enough that his children yelled at him from the kitchen, before shuffling his way into the kitchen to begin the work of chasing the teenagers out the door.
"Alright, come on, shoo shoo! You are all going to miss the subway and be late!" He scolded, occasionally swatting at a stray child with his sleeves. "And do not forget anything, because I will not bring it to you!"
"Dad--" Leo began, his eyes blown up huge and pleading. "I don't feel well, I'm pretty sure I've got, like, a tummy bug, or something? Sooo, I should, like, probably stay home--"
"You are not skipping school just because you forgot to do an assignment." Yoshi immediately responded.
"What?! Noooo, Daddy, please, I'm really sick!"
"I was not born yesterday." He scoffed, shooting his son an unimpressed look. "And I have seen you do assignments in far less time! Besides, I'm sure April and your brothers would be happy to help."
A chorus of groans rang from around the table.
“Enough bellyaching! Come on, out of my house! Let's go, chop chop! Anyone who stays home today will be giving me a pedicure!”
That threat always worked. On cue, everyone fell into action. The boys gulped down any remaining breakfast still left uneaten, (whether it was theirs or not,) in between conversations, TikTok videos, and, in Leo's case, loud mourning about the day of the week. Donatello began to long process of buckling up the seventeen different straps on his chunky boots, Michaelangelo passed out lunches to each of his family members, narrating his culinary decisions as he went, and Raphael hurriedly tossed bowls, spoons, and plates into the dishwasher with clatters and clunks.
"I can't find my eyeliner pen-- Nardo, did you steal it? Did you go through my bag?! You DID, didn’t you!!! I am going to delete all of your Minecraft save files--"
"What?! I cannot believe you would make such an accusation, I would never stop to such petty thievery--"
"Mikey, hurry up and grab your skateboard if you're gonna--"
"OW, Dad, Donnie pulled my hair!"
"Oh, what are you, five?"
"HEY, both of you knock it off because Raph makes ya!”
"Wait, did we have a quiz in geometry today--? Because I did not study!!! Raph, this note had better be a joke--!"
After a few final moments of mayhem, Yoshi finally managed to get all five high schoolers out the door, closing the door firmly behind them with a loud sigh.
He loved his children. Truly, he did. But thank god for school.
Grumbling a bit to himself, he got to work straightening the remaining mess left behind. His sons were more than old enough to clean up after themselves and help out around the house, but that still didn't necessarily mean they did it particularly well. Maybe by their late twenties, they'd start to figure that out, if they were anything like their father. He swept up spare crumbs and wiped down the table, putting cereal boxes away in the pantry where they belonged and closing cabinet doors left open.
Boys.
Truthfully, he had very little room to complain and he knew it. Compared to the first four years of parenthood, things were a breeze. Sure, there was still plenty of work to do, but aside from the occasional exhausting day or difficult conversation, he could practically just put things on autopilot by now. He could hardly imagine how his younger self used to get through each day.
Well, perhaps he could, because, if he was being completely honest, he didn't really "get through" most days back then as much as he was bodily dragged in and out of them. But he had realized long ago that lingering on his past shortcomings was not in anyone's best interest.
With school, extracurriculars, friends and neighbors, babysitters, and a shit-ton of parenting classes on his side now, in addition to the general concept of the passage of time, given that his children were no longer children and now teenagers, he had at his disposal something that he had not had even a scrap of for years before "the move."
Free time.
It had been nearly ten years since "the move." Ten years since he and his sons had donned these disguises and bodily forced their way back into society on the back of lies and forged paperwork. Or, well, he had forced his way back into society. His children were just along for the ride-- and new to it all.
Not that you would be able to tell now, he thought to himself, smiling ever so slightly. Ten years… They had lived this way for a long time now.
It had been so long… Some days, he nearly forgot that he was anything but a man.
--------
"Donnie, here, it's your turn."
Donatello sighed loudly, pausing in whatever he was doing on his phone, (Scrolling through Twitter? Purchasing uranium off the dark web? They were equally likely,) but accepting the laptop shoved into his hands anyway.
"Why am I getting the impression that my turns are longer than everyone else's?" He questioned, his brows pinched with gentle annoyance as he glanced at the other four, all piled together on the subway. There wasn’t enough space for all of them, but even finding a couple of open seats was a near miracle this time of day, so they could make do. Stacking Mikey on Raph's shoulders and denying Leo a place to sit, seeing how it was his American Literature essay that they were taking turns writing, did the trick.
"Because you're the smart one," Leo said, his arms wrapped around the nearest subway pole, leaning so he could read over their shoulder. "This is the consequence of referring to yourself as a 'genius' all the time."
"I'm pretty sure I've always made it very clear that I'm a man of science, not literature." Donnie quipped in reply, even as he hunched over the screen, his fingers tick-tacking across the keys.
"Hey, I'm helping too! That whole third paragraph is mostly me." April protested, crossing her arms and slumping against Donnie, purposefully jostling them a bit in retaliation.
"Me too!" Mikey chirped from atop his brother's shoulders, slumped forward to avoid smacking his head on the roof. "I changed all the punctuation to fourteen-point font to make it longer!”
"Smart." Donnie hummed, not looking up, in such a tone that it wasn't quite clear if he meant it or not. Mikey beamed at the praise nonetheless, a bright grin lighting up his face as he crossed his arms over his brother's forehead.
"Look, it doesn't have to be good. It's just gotta be three pages before third period." Leo said. "I mean, Donnie could also always just hack into the school's gr—“
"Hey!" Raph barked. "We all agreed that that was for emergencies only!"
"Okay, okay, fine!" Leo sighed, a bit of sulkiness saturating his voice, holding his hands up in mock surrender. He reluctantly accepted the laptop when it was passed back over to him, propping up a knee to balance it on and hunching over to type.
"I thought Mikey set up that whole system with you. With the reminders and that agenda app and everything?" April questioned, glancing up at Leo curiously-- perhaps suspiciously.
"He did. I've just been..." He paused, hesitating in his words for just a second. "Busy."
"Oh no." April groaned.
"Not again." Donnie sighed.
"Who is it this time?" Raph asked, quirking a brow.
"What! I have noooo idea what you guys are talking about--"
"Leo."
"Okay, fine. Chase DeFerro." Leo muttered, his eyes immediately flicking to the side to avoid the inevitable reactions of his family.
"Chase DeFerro?"
"The same Chase DeFerro from five months ago?"
"Didn't you two have, like, a horrible break-up?"
"Didn't you block him on, like… Everything?"
"Didn't you say, and I quote, "If I ever have to even see that nasty bitch again in my entire life, it'll be too soon, and I swear to god I'll chop off--"
"Okay, okay! Hey, come on! That was five months ago. Things are, like, totalllyyyy different now!" Leo insisted.
“You said that about the last, like, three guys you’ve dated,” April said, unimpressed.
"Leo, have you ever stopped to consider that, perhaps, your need to constantly be in some kind of a relationship may have some kind of deeper connection to your own feelings of self-worth and the way that you assign value to--"
"Whoa there, Doctor Feelings! Chill! It's not that deep!" Leo scoffed, shooting Mikey an annoyed look. Ugh, he knew he shouldn't have brought it up. "Seriously. I'm just bored, okay? Quit trying to read into it."
"Bored?" Raph echoed, looking at the other with big eyes. "Leo, you can't treat love like it's a game like that! Come on!"
"It's not love, Raph, it's high school dating." Leo scoffed, giving a dismissive wave of his hand. “Anyway! Look, I'm only, like, fifty words short and then I'm home free. Who's got the next turn?"
"Fine." April sighed, rolling her eyes. “Only because your girl here writes a killer BS essay conclusion. But you owe me. Hand it over."
True to her word, the last-minute literature assignment was wrapped up shortly, and the remainder of the train ride was instead occupied by chatter and gossip, discussing upcoming tests and assignments in school, rumors circulating the hallways, and plans for weekends and far-off holidays. On the occasion it got too loud to hear each other properly, they’d sign to each other instead, and then switch back once it quieted down once more. The five scrambled their way off the subway when they arrived at their stop, making their way up the stairs and back to street level.
Leo inhaled deeply as he hopped up the final few stairs, his sneakers giving a satisfying thud on the concrete below them with each step. He had no complaints about the subway, (well, no more than the average person, anyway,) but there was always just something especially refreshing about getting to breathe fresh air after spending any amount of time underground. Even if the fresh air was New York City air. Call him crazy, but he'd never get tired of it.
The group began the final length of their journey, closing the three-block gap between the subway station and their high school-- most of them on foot, Mikey on his skateboard, though he was less skateboarding and more standing on his skateboard and hanging onto the back of Raph's shirt so his older brother would drag him along. Leo wondered absently if he could get away with that, too, before April's voice finally snapped him back into reality.
"You busy after school today?"
"Until six!" He replied, stretching his arms back to lace his fingers behind his head as they walked. "Dee and I have gymnastics."
“Next competition is tomorrow.” Donnie hummed, not looking up from his phone. "So we're getting in the extra hours."
"You know we've got a rep to uphold!" Leo sing-songed, his mouth stretching into a wide, smug grin. "Gotta keep that flawless record for the rest of the season."
It was very well known, to anyone who ran in such circles, that the Hamato Twins were all but sure to take the top two places in any gymnastics meet that they showed up to-- it was just a question of in what order they would do so. Of all the various sports that they participated in, gymnastics was just about the only one where it was truly a coin flip. The only other two extracurriculars they shared were swimming, where Donnie consistently took first place, and martial arts, where they both knew Leo was more likely to come out on top. But gymnastics? It was anybody's guess, and they flip-flopped from first to second just about every other event. For just a moment, Leo caught his twin's eye-- coz he knew he was thinking the exact same thing right now.
Coz he knew they both wanted to win.
Coz they both wanted to rub it in the other's face.
(Of course, they both also knew that the only reason they got to have this little song-and-dance to begin with was because Mikey was still in the age bracket below them. Wouldn't everyone be just so delighted to finally see the Hamato Twins usurped in the coming season... By another Hamato.)
“And Raph has work… Ugh! Y’all are too damn busy!” April huffed, leaning her head back and wrinkling up her nose.
“I’ve got a little bit of time.” Mikey chimed in, leaning over just enough to offer April a grin. “I don’t gotta be at dance until four. I was gonna go work on that mural I’ve got going up north. Wanna come?”
“Beats sitting at home doing homework.” April reasoned, giving a shrug. “I’m in!”
“Shweet!”
Leo smiled a tiny bit. Though he did, in fact, have complete confidence in his little brother’s ability to traverse the city safely, it was still kind of nice to know he’d be with someone else. If, for no other reason, then to know that Raph would now worry about Mikey at least 80% less during the coming evening.
“Alright,” Speaking of worrisome older brothers, Raph began his typical pre-school speech as they approached the front entrance. “No one be late. No one skip class.” Who, him? What was that pointed look for? He would never… Get caught more than once in a week. “And no one get in any trouble. Don’t do anything Raph wouldn’t do.”
“Yes sir!” The four of them barked in reply as they approached the entrance of their high school. Mostly, they were all just making fun of him. But Leo figured humoring him wouldn’t hurt, especially if it helped him chill a little bit. Raph had always taken his role as “the biggest brother” pretty seriously, ever since they were really little, though Leo wasn’t exactly sure why. He was always the one in charge whenever their dad wasn’t around, and Leo suspected he had a hard time ever completely dropping that mindset.
I mean, don’t get him wrong, Raph was just as capable of fucking around, goofing off, and getting into shit as the rest of them, for sure, he just sometimes wished he could… Relax a little. It wasn’t like anything bad was gonna happen, but Raph always kind of just had this air to him like he was expecting enemies to leap out from behind the corner and attack them at any moment. Like he always had to protect them all. Which Leo could get, sure, but, like… Wouldn’t it be kind of cool if someone did try to start some shit with them or something, just so that they could see the look on their face when they totally kicked their ass? Leo could only imagine it’d be pretty hilarious.
The five of them went their separate ways, parting with various promises to see each other at lunch, after school, at home, etc. April and Raph went one way, Mikey went another, and Leo and Donnie split off in a different direction still, heading towards the East Wing.
And as they cleared the corner, Leo whipped around to face Donnie, stabbing them in the side with a spare elbow. “Last one to homeroom gets second place at gymnastics tomorrow!” He declared, immediately taking off down the hall.
“Wha— Leo! This is unfair, I’m wearing platforms! You know I’m wearing platforms!” Donnie shrieked in protest, even as he broke into a run behind him.
Leo whooped in reply, throwing himself over the railing of the nearest staircase, knowing his twin brother was right on his tail.
-----
“Come on! Harder!!! SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT!” Raphael roared, pumping a fist in the air. “LET’S GO! GIVE IT TO ME!”
The gaggle of six-year-olds in the water in front of him, all clinging to the pool wall, giggled loudly in response to his over-the-top encouragement, kicking their legs even harder in a flurry of limbs and dousing him in chlorinated water.
“Whoa, whoa, okay! You gave it to me! I surrender!” Raph chuckled, holding his hands up to shield himself. “Alright, alright. Good job, team! You did great today. Okay, let’s wrap up—“
“Raph! RAPH!”
“What?”
“Raph, we gotta do the ferry!” Penelope, the loudest of his students, insisted, her face all screwed up with determination. The other four children nodded along fervently. “We can’t get out until we do ferry!”
“Oh, RIGHT. Ferry. Sorry, Raph almost forgot!” He chuckled, thunking his own forehead with the butt of his palm, feigning forgetfulness, as if he hadn’t always intended to do their usual wrap-up game. Class ended with a game of “Ferry” every time, without fail, especially given that he touted it as the ‘reward’ that they had to work for each week by following directions and working hard. He shifted slightly in the water, turning his back on the kids still clinging to the wall. “Okay— hop aboard”
The five elementary schoolers squealed in delight, launching themselves off the pool wall to clamber over the teenager instead, climbing over his broad shoulders and hanging off of his arms. Raph gave a soft little ‘oof,’ at the impact, though it was mostly for show, snorting softly in amusement as Penelope all but climbed on top of his head. Reminded him of Mikey.
“Okay— GO!” She shouted once she was sure all her cohorts were fully boarded, the whole group buzzing with excitement despite the fact that they did this every week. Raph gave a soft hum of acknowledgment, slowly setting off on their lap around the pool. In the shallower end, where they started, he didn’t even really have to swim at all— He could just walk with his body lowered enough in the water to give the illusion of swimming. Or, more precisely, the illusion of ‘ferrying.’
“Welcome everybody to Penelope’s Ferry Ride. I’m Penelope, the tour girl. Over there’s the Empire State Building.” Penelope narrated happily from her perch, gesturing to the bleachers. “And over there is the Statue of Liberty.” The pool noodles. “And over there’s the Milky Way. And that’s the, uhhh, the Big Bridge…”
“Wait, how long’s this ferry ride? Raph didn’t sign up for no world tour!” Raph protested teasingly, to which Penelope sharply shushed him before continuing her narration. The other children bubbled with laughter at her increasingly ridiculous tourist attractions and descriptions. Reminded him of Leo and Donnie.
Raph chuckled softly to himself as he moved into the deeper end of the pool, transitioning into an easy breaststroke to keep them all afloat on their way. It was, admittedly, a bit more difficult to swim with five kids on his back than it was on his own, but Raph was a strong swimmer. This was no problem. Besides, it’s not like he was in a rush or anything.
Honestly? This was his favorite part of these lessons. No worrying about everyone paying attention or being involved. No worries about anyone wandering off when he had them all on top of him and undoubtedly accounted for. No stressing about remembering the lesson plan or rules… He could just swim. He knew it sounded dumb, but sometimes, with all the kids piled on top of him like this, he felt like some sort of big plodding swamp creature, floating lazily down the river with the world on his back.
He took his time about it, but he eventually made his full lap around the pool, coming to a stop by the stairs and gently chasing the kids off of his shoulders.
“Alright, come on, squirts. Ferry ride’s over.”
“Nooo!” Penelope whined, clinging to his head. “One more lap! PLEASEEE!”
“Hey, come on, you know the rules! If you don’t listen to Raph, you don’t get a ferry ride next week!” He warned, slowly peeling her off of his back. “Go on. Get outta here.” He insisted, though fondly, smiling a bit as she huffed and scowled… But she got out anyway, joining the rest of the kids running to their parents, all with towels in waiting arms, listening to the children excitedly chatter about what they learned today.
Raph smiled just the tiniest bit. He remembered when they had been that small, taking swim classes here. He, Donnie, and Leo had all been thrilled to take to the water, adoring each and every lesson.
They all loved it— Except Mikey. He recalled listening to his littlest brother scream bloody murder as their father attempted to coax him into the water, trying everything from reason to bribes to threats of consequences.
“You don’t need to like to swim, Michelangelo. But you need to be able to.” He remembered his father saying. “I need to be sure you will be safe if you ever end up in the water by yourself.”
If anyone asked, he’d tell ‘em that he took the job just to make some extra pocket money. But, at least a little bit, that was kinda why. He liked the idea of helping to keep people safe. Even if it was just teaching kids how to doggy paddle.
Doing all the small talk at the end of the lessons with the parents was definitely his least favorite part, however, and he always found himself kind of stammering and stuttering his way through it. After some short, “Oh, yeah, she’s doin’ great!” and “For sure, perfect behavior’s!” tossed at some parents, he was, thankfully, able to duck away into the office, his own towel flung over his shoulders to try to avoid tracking water everywhere.
“All done?” The office receptionist, Jessica, chirped in her usual friendly demeanor, glancing over at the other as he entered.
“Just about. I just gotta clean up as soon as the kids are all gone and we’ll be done.” He replied, ruffling his hair dry.
“Did you remind the parents that we’re closed next week?”
Raph froze.
“… Uhhhh…”
Jessica sighed a bit, glancing over her shoulder to give him a look. “I reminded you before the lesson started!”
“I know! I just— Raph forgot, okay? I can only hold so much stuff in my brain at one time before stuff just starts to fall out! I was thinkin’ about swimming stuff!” He defended. “‘Sides, it was your job to remind me to remind them! So obviously we both dropped the ball.” Jessica didn’t look quite convinced, but Raph was pretty sure his logic was solid. “Can’t we just, like, put up some flyers and send out an email and all that junk?”
Rolling her eyes, Jessica turned back to her computer and began to type. “Yeah, yeah… Can’t really do flyers, but I’m working on that email.”
“Why not? Just put a sign up on the door.”
Jessica looked over at him again, raising a brow. “You haven’t heard about the paper shortage?”
Raph blinked slowly.
“… The what.”
“Yeah! It’s a whole thing. I dunno, I guess there are, like… Paper thieves or whatever robbing all the paper stores and stuff in the city? We haven’t been able to get any new orders in for a few weeks now.” She explained.
“Paper thieves?” He echoed, incredulous. “And they... steal paper.”
“Yeah. They steal paper.”
“Who the heck steals paper?”
“I dunno! I just saw it on the news.” Jessica shrugged. “I guess the police are working on it or whatever.”
“I guess.” Raph said, shrugging a bit, though he still couldn’t help but find the whole thing a bit amusing. I mean, come on. Paper thieves? It was only paper. -------
"Dadddd!" Mikey called as he swung his way into the door, kicking his shoes off into the general direction of the pile where shoes were typically kept, tossing his duffle bag to the side. He'd come back for it later and put it away, he swears. "I'M HOMMMEEE!"
It had been a long day, in between school, painting, and dance practice, so it was almost nine by the time he got home, but he didn't really mind. He liked being busy! If he didn't have stuff to do, it was just, like, all the energy would build up and up and up in all his limbs and his body and his chest like something sticky and hot about to boil over, condensation gathering at the top of his skull, and then he just went kinda crazy. That makes sense, right? He was pretty sure his brothers were kinda like that, too, so he figured it was probably mostly normal. He sometimes wondered if that was why their dad let them sign up for so many after-school activities. The only downside was the limited time leftover to tackle homework and personal projects. Walls weren’t just gonna paint themselves, after all!
"What's for dinner?" He shouted across the house, shucking his backup off and beginning to unpack, collecting his various textbooks and notepads.
"Oh, since you were not home, Michelangelo, I have had no choice but to cook for our family--"
"Dad."
"But do not worry, my son, I am making the most delicious meal--"
"Dad."
"Boiled liver and onions! You boys' favorite! With chopped earthworms, yum yum yum!"
"DAD! You're not funny!" Mikey yelled, even though there was laughter in his voice. Their dad did this bit every time, and he hated how it was always kinda funny.
"Pizza is on the table." His father called back, and Mikey let out an excited cheer.
"YEAH BABY! That's what I was hoping you'd say!" He shouted, hopping up to his feet and beelining it to the kitchen. His brothers had clearly already done a round, based on the empty boxes and missing slices, but he knew they wouldn't dare leave him without his fair share. That's youngest child privilege. They knew damn well that he’d cry at them.
"How was school today, my son?" Dad always asked about school first and everything else second, every time.
"Id'was gooh'." Mikey mumbled, in between the pizza slice already hanging out of his mouth, piling several more slices onto his plate. "We're readin' th' O'ssey--"
"Orange, I cannot understand anything you are saying."
Mikey spit the half-chewed pizza slice back out onto the plate, which earned a really fun look from Dad, and he grinned.
"Sorry! We're reading the Odyssey in English class, which is fine, I guess, but it's kinda a lot to get through, so we're translating it to, like, real human words, annnndddd we gotta do a group project presentation thing, and I like all the people in the group project but you KNOOWWW how group projects are." He reported, rapid-fire, giving a dramatic sigh. "Oh! And I got my Algebra test back and I got! A seventy-nine!"
"Oh! Very good, Mikey. I am glad your studying paid off." His father replied with a small smile, and Mikey beamed. "And how was dance?"
"Awesome! I killed it, as per use'." Mikey said proudly, puffing out his chest a bit. "Miss Vega said that I just gotta tighten up my turns and I'll be all ready to destroy the competition next weekend!"
"Excellent. Good job, Orange." His dad said with a chuckle, patting Mikey's shoulder before making his way back into the living room, no doubt to reunite his butt with his beloved reclining chair and put on some TV series that no one else in the family appreciated. Mikey grabbed three more slices of pizza while his dad’s back was turned, and then scampered off, heading deeper into the apartment.
Considering they lived in New York City, they lived in a pretty spacious abode. Mikey couldn't remember a time in his life when there wasn't lots of room to stretch out and run and jump around. He remembered, back when he was really little, some of the hallways being big and long enough to even echo-- though he sometimes wondered if that had just been his imagination. Some of the stuff they would make up back then was pretty wild. Their dad had bought this big old brownstone apartment way back when they moved into Brooklyn, buying up the entire building so that they had all four floors, plus the basement, to themselves. Mikey recalled, vaguely, all the renovations that had gone into it when they first moved to New York, adjusting the fixer-upper into something where four very active children could be raised without feeling cramped. The building was tall and skinny, slotted neatly in with the rest of the city, and Mikey had always loved that. This meant it they had the perfect hallways for running back and forth through, and there was a surplus of staircases for him to slide down or jump over. The hardwood floors were perfect for both Tokyo Drifting and dance practice. They each had gotten their own rooms as they grew as well, with himself and Raph on the second floor, Leo and Donnie on the third, and their father taking the master bedroom on the ground level.
But the best bit was the basement. Lovingly dubbed "The Lair," their dad had designated it the hub for childhood shenanigans, (and now, teenage activity,) from the get-go, all but sacrificing the space to his sons from the moment they moved in. The house was technically his, sure, but the basement was theirs, like, for real for real. Arcade games and consoles lived down here, hooked up to the big TV on the wall and surrounded by beat-up beanbags. Raph's weight-lifting equipment was in that corner there, and Donnie's bigger, more mechanical projects were over there by the stairs, (with the yellow tape and the "do not touch" signs.") This big wide open space here with the mirrors on the walls and the punching bags mounted on the ceiling was perfect for both martial arts, acrobatics, and dance practice, depending on which kind of matting they laid out. And, best of all, the Lair was the one place in the house where their dad had reluctantly conceded that, yes, Mikey. You may paint on the walls.
The Lair was typically the best bet for finding any of his brothers, especially if they weren’t holed up in their rooms, and Mikey did think about heading down there, too… But, as very tempting as it was to hang out with brothers first and do math worksheets later was, he was pretty sure he could get through his homework in, like, thirty minutes, tops, and just get it all out of the way. Plus, this way, he didn't have to worry about anyone else making any grabs for his dinner.
With this in mind, he tromped his way up the stairs, nudging his sticker-adorned door open and dumping all his stuff on his desk, immediately shoving the previously-abandoned pizza slice back into his mouth again. He flipped open his textbooks, switched his speakers on to fill the space with some chill lofi beats to study to, and nudged his desk lamp awake as he settled in to get to work.
His workload had been pretty light recently, with way fewer teachers than usual handing out paper worksheets and questionnaires to bring home, so it didn't take him very long to get through all the assignments and readings. (Also, lowkey, it was times like these that he was, like, wow. Thank god for Adderall.) He was nearly done with the last of his work when he suddenly paused.
Dang. Artistic inspiration was truly a cruel but wondrous mistress. Okay, homework later. He scrambled for his phone, rewinding the song playing over the speakers. Ooh, yeah, okay-- That bass? Oh, hell yeah, this was really good! He could absolutely see the movement in his mind's eye-- he could picture the way the color swooped along with the beat and brightened along with the melody. Oh-- and what if he added some black outlines? What was the title of this song again...? Maybe he should look up the artist. He wondered if this would be better as a direct homage to the artist, (maybe the title up on a wall, in big curved block letters, yellows popping along the edges to pull it into the foreground, and that red in the center to sink it in--) or if this should be a more narrative piece. It made him think of that one movie that they watched two weekends ago-- with the spy and the watering can factory?! And this one line, about the lightning, he could just see the way he could paint a figure to answer that directly. Was it too ambitious to do a zig-zag line of action? Oh, but if he had the leg out like that...
He flipped the page of his notebook, his pencil skritching feverishly on the sheet as he moved to put these thumbnails into reality while they were still ticking through his mind in a slideshow. He paused only to command Spotify to play the song on repeat, his tongue stuck out of the corner of his mouth and his eyes narrowed. Ohmigosh, yes! This would be perfect. He couldn't believe he had never thought of this before. This song had been on his playlist for how long? He had just kind of been spacing out until now, but suddenly, he was so excited about this project.
And it would be the perfect excuse to use those metallic spray paints he's been hoarding! He practically vibrated with excitement, thumbing the paper with a grin. Oh, that would look amazing. Just a bold streak of shimmery color, bursting out from the composition, like an explosion, he could see it so clearly--
Half a thought later, the spiral-bound notebook in front of him burst into flames.

Just a Two-Step
Bayverse TMNT x Fem Reader
Warnings/Summary: None of the Turtles know how to two-step, but thankfully Casey Jones comes to the rescue. Jealous Turtles, Clueless Casey Jones, Dancing. (Not a lot of the turtle boys in this one) (set in 2023 so turtles are 22 ish)
Some Songs at the bottom
Swing Dance For visual
“Where’s the guys?”
You looked up over your shoulder, giving a little wave in Casey’s direction before answering his question. “They’re out on patrol, left close to two hours ago.”
He made a face at that, cocking his head and exaggerating a frown. “So they went partyin’ without me? Huh.” He set his mask down on the kitchen table, dropped his hockey stick next to it. “Jerks.”
You hummed in amused agreement, turning back to the music station you were scrolling through. Donnie had set it up before they’d left, told you to pick out a genre for the night.
You absently bit at your nail. You knew what genre you wanted to listen to, but there was no way they’d go for it.
“What we listenin’ to?” Casey had disappeared into the kitchen. You heard him open the refrigerator, heard the faint crack of a beer can being opened, before his footsteps started towards you.
“Don’t know yet.” You paused. “Well, I know what I’d like to listen to, but they hate it.”
“Ah. Country.”
You were caught between a huff and a frown, amused that he had the matter pegged so readily and irritated that the other members of your friend group were aware of the lack of love the turtles had for the music type.
“It’s a shame.” Casey sat on the couch with a sigh, and you cocked your head towards in a signal to continue. “I’ve seen Mikey and Don dance with you. Thought they be interested in the ole’ two step n’ swing.”
Your cheeks warmed at his words, and the implication that he’d noticed the interactions, smacking the remote against your palm in an effort to distract yourself with the noise. You were certain Casey’d never pick up on all the connotations, but the last thing you needed was him saying something in passing and April catching the scent.
So you hummed when his head turned towards the noise, thinking quickly for a distraction. “I don’t think they really care about those types of dances.”
When you glanced at him, it was to see a slow smirk pull across his face, and you own slackened with shock at the familiar look, idly wondering if he’d picked up Raph’s signature look on purpose.
“But you like to dance.” He seemed to decide something, but you could only stare, confused as he placed his beer down on the coffee table and stood. “C’mon.”
“What?” You asked, freezing for half a beat before narrowing your eyes on his outstretched arms.
He gestured them in a sweep, wiggling his fingers at you. “Let’s dance.”
“What?” You asked again, wondering if his dumb was rubbing off.
“I know how to two-step.” He revealed as if it was some sort of grand secret. “I’m sure I can even figure out how to swing, seen it done enough.” He took a step forward, reached for your hand, and you let him take the remote, staring up at his face as though you could peel back the layers and see his thought process.
He didn’t know. You let him take your other hand, watched him fiddle with the remote until the first song on your personal playlist started up.
The absolute idiot. He had no idea what he was stepping into. You should step back, remove his hand from where he’d taken a high, polite grip on your hip, but your mind turned over like a stalling engine.
What would you say? How could you tell him ‘hey, we really shouldn’t dance, because if any of the turtles see your hands on me we’re gonna be finding little bitty Casey pieces all over the City for weeks’. He’d never believe it, or worse he would believe it, and whatever it was you had for yourself would suddenly be out in the open, because if there was one thing Casey Jones did not know how to hold in, it was a secret.
Then he threw the remote on the couch, tucked your still elevated hand within his own strong grip, and twirled you around into the space in front of him.
He tilted his head back with that confident smile again when you stared up, flabbergasted at the move, and he shimmied before taking the first step to the side. “C’mon, short stuff, lets boogie.”
It succeeded in pulling a chuckle out of you, and you followed his lead, letting him turn you both whenever he started a new direction, your hand up on his bicep to keep some space in between you. Your worry slid away after the first song. The turtles knew Casey only had eyes for April, surely they wouldn’t hold a few dances against the hockey player.
Casey danced you through the first few songs, heels snapping even without boots, and you laughed more than once at his antics. After the fourth song, however, something with a softer beat started, and he let go of your hip, swung you out in an arc.
“Let’s try that swing, now.” His accent was thick on the words, and you snorted at the absurdness of it all as you let yourself slip under his arm. After the first snap back, you became just a little more confident, sure that he wasn’t going to let you spill onto the hard floor.
This song was a little more loose, gave you the leeway to let him improvise when he would tuck you under his shoulder or spin you out into the further reaches of his grip, the only touches other than his hand the brush of your hair against his arm.
“Dip?” Casey asked, other hand open, and you grabbed for it, let him dip you before spinning you up again with a snap at the end of the movement, your stomach up in your throat for half a second, a peal of laughter escaping as you twirled.
The sound of glass shattering brought you both up short, deer caught in headlights as you peered towards the sound.
Donnie was staring right at you, hand aloft where presumably his glass had been. Raph was right behind him, head tilted to the side, green and gold eyes trailing between the points where Casey’s hands held your own, the press of your temple against the forearm curved above your head.
“Hey guys!” Casey said brightly, eyebrow arching for half a second as he took in Donnie’s still raised hand before he moved you into a twirl again. “Had a fun patrol?” He snapped you out again, hand just below your elbow, and you could make out the incredulous pop of Raph’s brow ridges even through the movement.
“Yea. Great Patrol.” Leo, and you weren’t sure how you missed him, but he was suddenly in your space, hands spanning your waist and lifting you up, out of Casey’s orbit.
He set you aside, and you swayed at the speed of the movement, somehow under the curve of Mikey’s shoulder between fast blinks, his hand low on your back searing through your shirt.
Casey, however, beamed when Leo stepped up into his space, and you winced at the tension you could see in the blue banded turtle’s arms. You went to step forward, to step between them, but Mikey tucked you in closer, effectively trapping you against him.
“I fucking knew it.” Casey said, triumphant, his hand coming out to slap against Leo’s shoulder, seemingly unaware of what exactly was happening. You winced again.
“Did you?” The question was almost lost in a growl.
Oh dear god.
Leo was suppose to be the level headed one. The calm one. You somehow weaseled your way out from under Mikey’s arm, moving fast and low and dodging in between them, hands on Leo’s plastron, trying to push him back.
“Ok, Ok, there’s no need for-” He simply picked you up again, and you went with a quiet flare of irritation at being manhandled again. This time when he set you to the side Raph was there, and with a large hand he all but shoved you behind him, leaving you staring at the curve of their shells. You hit the middle scutes with the palms of your hands. “Hey!”
They ignored you, and you huffed, irritation crossing over into anger.
“I’ll just-go.” Casey, and you could almost sense his shit eating grin. You buried your head in your hands as you heard him walking away, knowing without looking he was more smug about riling them up than anything else.
A tap on your shoulder, and you looked up to see Donnie, Mikey, crowding over you.
“Are you ok?” Donnie asked, his hand moving to cup your elbow, turn you more towards him.
“Am I ok?” You asked, offended. “Donnie, you broke a fucking glass.” You turned to address all of them, a finger moving between each as you backed up. “I am allowed to dance with who I want to.”
They followed, and you almost stumbled into the coffee table, quick to put it between you and the group. Even Mikey, your little beam of sunshine, was eyeing you in a way you’d never seen before. The image of a rabbit before a group of hounds floated through your mind.
“Course you can,” Raph added into the silence, his voice a croon of agreement, and you wondered if they realized it had stretched on too long. He took a side step, his head cocked and smiling that smile that turned you into putty. The sight had all your senses ricocheting into attention.
“How bout you show it to us?” Leo suggested in a calm rumble, right in front of you, leaning over to splay his hands against the surface of the coffee table, adding weight until the wood groaned ominously.
“I’m sure we can pick it up pretty fast.” Donnie chirped, the usually happy sound he made to get your attention seeming odd in the context until you flicked your eyes over to him and he smiled under your gaze.
The three of them stared at you, and you nervously flicked glances between them, trying to keep them in sight at all times. The hair on your neck stood up, your body trying vainly to tell you that you’d forgotten something.
Someone.
“Wait. Where’s-”
The music blared out again, that same looser song restarting, and large hands took your own, Mikey twirling you out with an energetic snap that had you hissing in surprise, before he had you tucked in under his shoulder once more.
“If you wanted to dance, babes, all you had to do was say so!” He crowed.
———————————
The next morning you shuffled into the Lair’s kitchen, legs cramping, back protesting, holding onto the counter for support. A sound came from the table, and you turned your head incrementally, until you could pin the two humans waiting there with a glare.
“Morning?” April asked, her brows drawing up in the middle at the sight of you.
Your eyes focused on the buffoon with a shit eating grin next to her. “You.”
Casey saluted you with his carryout coffee. “Sup. Have a good night?”
“They kept me dancing for fucking hours.” You hissed the words with venom at him.
Casey shrugged, undisturbed. “Maybe next time you’ll think twice about keeping secrets from the fam, short stack.”
You fumed. Boiled. Went to take a menacing step towards him before your calf seized and you returned to gripping the counter for support.
April quickly looked up, away, sipping her own coffee and minding her own business, but Casey grinned at you over the lip of his own, eyebrows dancing.
You saw red. “Raph!” You yelled, and had the absolute delight of seeing Casey leap for you before he seemed to remember he couldn’t actually touch you. “Casey’s here!”
“Gotta go, see you later, April.” He snagged a donut, leaping over the railing and belting for the exit at the sound of doors opening violently deeper in the Lair.

Chapter 1 - New Roommate
With moving to New York, you expected weird things to happen. But not mutant turtle ninja weird.
Tumblr media
[Unedited]
*3rd Person POV*
It was just like any night in New York, the constant yelling, honking, bright lights, dark alleyways, and four brother vigilantes jumping from rooftop to rooftop. These were no normal beings, they were mutant turtles, which also happened to be ninjas. There was the level-headed leader in blue, Leonardo. Then there was the hot head in red, Raphael. The intelligent one in purple, Donatello. Finally, the playful one in orange, Michaelangelo.
The four brothers were making their way to their only friends place, April O'Neil. It's been a while since they've seen their friend in person, with her getting used to her new job and trying to find a roommate after her previous one left.
They got to the roof of her building, looking around to make sure no one saw them. When seeing no one, Leo gestured down, "Let's go and be quiet!" He had whisper shouted, getting an eye roll from Raph and Mikey. They all started to climb down, stopping at Aprils window. Mikey knocked on the window to get the ravenettes attention, and when she looked up, she saw Mikey and Leo grinning/smiling at her.
She ran to the window and opened it, ushering them in in order to not be seen. One by one, they jumped through the window, Mikey, Leo, Donnie and Raph. "What are you guys doing here?" April smiled. "We wanted to check up on you," Leo said. "Yeah, baby cakes, we haven't seen you in so long!" Mikey added, making April roll her eyes in amusement, "It's only been a week, Mikey." "A week too long," The orange masked turtle wistfully said.
April opened her mouth to speak but instantly shut it when her phone started ringing. She looked at the number and turned her back to the turtles. "Who is it?" Raph questioned, getting an index finger in return, telling them to wait a minute. April answered the phone, "Hello? ... Yes, this is her. ... Oh, hi (Y/N), it's nice to be hearing from you again! ... Really? That's great! ... Yep, that sounds good! I'll see you tomorrow! Bye!"
April hung up and turned back to the turtles in waiting. "Guess who just found a roommate?!" She screamed in excitement, the turtles cheering with her. Mikey paused in his celebration, "Wait, that means we can't come over anymore..." "You'll be fine," Raph gave his brother a noogie, then leaving him to go tell April congratulations.
*Time Skip, 1 Week*
*(Y/N)'s POV*
'Whew... all done!' You happily thought as you looked around your room, having just finished unpacking. April gently knocked on your open door, "How about a celebratory dinner? For officially moving in." "Sounds good! Just let me take a shower," You said, grabbing some clothes and heading to the bathroom.
You turned up your music on your speaker and jumped in the shower.  You started to think about your past week with April. It was... interesting to say the least. You noticed very quickly that something was up with her. Lots of whispers and private/sneaky calls (more than a normal amount a person would have), especially at night. There was one time you came out around two in the morning to get a bottle of water and April had immediately slammed the window shut and closed the curtains, seeming extremely nervous. 'What was she doing and why was she up so late?'
You liked April, don't get it wrong, she was just... weird at times. You shut off the water to the shower and got out, drying yourself off. You then lotioned up, got dressed, dried your hair and styled it and added some light makeup. You exited the bathroom and turned to go to into your room, but quickly turned around to head back into the bathroom to retrieve your, still playing, speaker.
But before you could enter the bathroom, you heard a shout then shushing. 'Does April have someone over?' The curiosity got the better of you and you left your speaker in the bathroom, dirty clothes in hand. You turned the corner to the living room and called out to your new roommate,  "April? Who do you ha-" You froze, breath catching in your throat.
Four tall beings stood in your living room. Skin green and what almost looked to be scales, 3 fingered hands and feet, shells covering their torsos, Japanese weapons adorning their hips or backs, and colored masks covering the top half of their faces.
They also froze, seeing you. "Uh oh..." The one with the orange mask and nunchucks said under his breath.
*Previously*
*3rd Person POV*
(Y/N) had just entered the bathroom, turning on the shower then her speaker. April decided to wait in the living room, scrolling through her phone. About fifteen minutes later, she heard a knock on her window. Her stomach dropped, 'Please let it not be them, please let it not be them!' She chanted through her head as she opened the curtains.
Sure enough, Mikey and Donnie waved at her. She opened the window and planned on staying there to not let them in, but Mikey unintentionally pushed her out of the way, letting himself in, his brothers following. "What are you guys doing here?!" April whisper shouted, constantly looking towards the hallway to make sure (Y/N) wouldn't walk in on them.
"We missed you and wanted to see how you were doing! And to maybe see your new roommate," Mikey shrugged. April pinched the bridge of her nose, "Oh my god... It's been one week! One week! You guys couldn't wait?!" "Sorry April, I tried to talk them out of it." Leo apologized, a sheepish look on his face.
"You haven't told us anything about your roommate! How old is she? What does she look like? Is she hot?" Mikey started shooting off questions, but the last one got him a slap to the back of the head by Raph. Mikey yelped in pain and was immediately shushed by April, Leo and Donnie.
"April? Who do you ha-" A new voice chimed in. Everyone turned to the source and froze. There stood Aprils new roommate, (Y/N), at the entrance of the living room. She also froze at the sight of them, holding onto some clothes. It was silent until Mikey spoke, "Uh oh..."
*(Y/N)'s POV*
"(Y/N)! I didn't hear you get out of the shower... your music is still... playing," April slowly trailed off, watching your expression. You were still silent as you stared at the four green beings in front of you, and they stared at you, most likely waiting to see your reaction.
"She's super hot!" Mikey had 'whispered' to his brothers, causing all three of them to shout his name in a scolding tone. This had snapped you out of your silent trance, "W-What... wha... what?!" Was all you could say. "Okay, I know you're confused and probably scared but I can explain everything!" April started and went to place her hand on your shoulder but you flinched back and held up your hand to her, "Do not touch me. I am not in the mental state to be touched right now." You then pointed to the four beings, "Explain!"
And that she did. She explained how the four beings, the four turtles, were part of her fathers and his former employers experiment, including a rat. She also explained how the lab went up in flames and she let the turtles and rat into the sewers to save them. Ever since then, they've been living in the sewers, learning how to fight, how to become ninjas. A couple months ago, they stopped a man named 'The Shredder' from releasing a dangerous chemical into New York.
"Wait, that was you guys? I read about that," You said, surprised at the information. "Yeah girl! We saved the world!" The orange masked one started, "I'm Mikey by the way, but you can call me anytime!" He winked at you. 'What?' You were genuinely confused, and it must have shown on your face because the red masked one slapped Mikey upside the head. "Quit it, you're making her uncomfortable!" He grumbled.
Then the one in the blue mask stepped forward, "Allow me to introduce ourselves. I'm Leonardo or Leo, whichever you prefer. Michaelangelo already introduced himself," At his name, Mikey turned to you and once again winked at you. "The one next to him in red is Raphael," Said turtle grunted in acknowledgment. "And finally Donatello in purple," You got a meek 'hello' and wave from the turtle in glasses.
Since they introduced themselves your training from a kid kicked in and you introduced yourself also, "My names (Y/N)." The one in blue, Leo, spoke up, "(Y/N)... that's a beautiful name." "Oh," You started, surprised at the sudden compliment, "Thank you." "Hey Leo, back off man," Mikey said, a slight warning to his tone. Leo's response was rolling his eyes.
"(Y/N)," April called out to you, gaining your attention. "You can't tell anyone about them. You have to keep them a secret at all costs. There's dangerous people out there that can and will hurt you to get to them. You have to promise us that you're not going to tell anyone." All five of them, April, Leonardo, Michaelangelo, Donatello and Raphael, they all gave you intense stares, waiting for your response.
You were quiet, thinking about all the new information you learned tonight. And finally, "Okay." All five of them let out sighs of relief. "Alright! Welcome to the club, cutie!" Mikey cheered. "Oh! We have to take her to go see sensei!" He quickly added. "Let's give her time to adjust to us first, Mikey." Donnie said, Leo nodding along with him.
"Well, it gotten late and me and (Y/N) were supposed to go to dinner." April clapped her hands together. "Oh! Why don't we order pizza! As a celebration to new friendship!" Mikey proposed. "C'mon, they don't want to eat with us." Raph grunted, turning to the window. "Actually, pizza sounds great, why don't you stay?" You said, making Raph pause and turn back to you. "What do you guys want?" You gave a small smile.
You got all the turtles orders, including yours and Aprils, and put in a mobile order. "Okay, the order is in. It should be here in less than 30 minutes." You informed, making the boys either cheer or thank you. You went and sat on the couch next to April, prompting Mikey to quickly take the spot next to you on the floor.
"So, (Y/N)," He started with an almost sultry voice, "How old are you?" "Um, I'm eighteen." You answered, slightly surprised at the sudden question. But at the same time you should have expected it by Mikeys eager look towards you. "Really? No way! We're eighteen too!" Said turtle excitedly cheered.
"Wow! You're so young and already moved out, what's the occasion?" Donnie asked, surprise on his face and in his voice. "Oh, I'm going to New York University." You answered. "New York University?! Oh my gosh, that's my favorite school! If I could, I would go!" Donnie gushed. "Well, why don't you do online classes?" You asked, making Donnie pout. "What I want to go there for isn't available for online classes, you have to be there in person. What are you going there for?" He questioned, changing the subject off of him.
"Computer and information science and engineering technology." You replied, making Donnie groan. "I'm so jealous! That's what I want to do!" "Ooo! Cute and smart!" Mikey commented. "Donnie," April started, "You're already way smarter than most, why would you want to go to school?"
"You could always learn something new," You and Donnie said simultaneously, instantly looking at each other with wide eyes. "I guess nerds think alike." Raph grumbled. Donnie rolled his eyes, "Shut up, Raph."
"Donatello," You called out, "If you would like, I can send you the material I'm learning, that way it'll almost be like an online class." Donnie's eyes went wide again, "Really? You'd do that for me?" You nodded and shrugged, "Yeah, I don't mind." The purple masked turtle squealed and shook in excitement, "Yes!"
*Time Skip*
The pizza arrived not long after and while waiting for it, you and the turtles took turns questioning each other. You all ate and laughed as you continued chatting. You were very uneasy at the beginning of the night, unsure of how good natured these four brothers were. But as the night went on and you got to know them, you knew they were pure at heart and that you had nothing to worry about.
Around 1:30 in the morning, April kicked them out. Before they left, all of the brothers, except for Raph, gave you their phone numbers (Leo slipped you Raphs phone number when he wasn't looking though).
Donnie, "So you can send me the material from your classes."
Leo, "In case you're ever in trouble and need help."
Mikey, "Text me so we can schedule a date."
The last one made you scoff in amusement.

tmnt 2003 Michelangelo headcanons
Mikey talks to himself when he's alone. He'll either have a full on conversation with himself or he'll narrate what he's doing like he's being interviewed for a tv show. Like when he's cooking he'll be like "So folks you're gonna wanna fold not stir your batter." or like "Now for this part you're gonna need to use some hand mixers, these are a great set my brother Don found them in the garbage."
There's like a sweet old lady who has her own cooking show and Mikey worships her like he has all her cook books and if he's in a cooking bind he'll be like "What would betty do?". He just talks about her like they're old friends he'll be like "Yeah this is a new recipe. Betty told me to use cream instead of milk"
Or he'll be like "What are we making tonight? Let's ask Betty" and open up his cookbook
For tv shows Mikey will watch just about anything he has no standards. I like to think that when they first got the tv set up, they only had like free-to-air channels and Mikey just likes having something on the tv. Like he'll be watching the shopping channel and just be like "omg that's so tacky"
Like he'll be yelling at the tv and everyone will be like wow what's mikey watching? and it's the shopping channel
One day he was left unsupervised and actually called cause he didn't know you needed a credit card and he'll be mad about that for the rest of his life cause he was gonna buy like a fancy toaster or something (and then he complained to donnie about it so donnie modified the toaster for him)
Also he's memorized most of the commercials jingles and he sings them constantly and everyone hates him for it.
Mikey writes and draws his own super hero comics in a big notebook and it's an ongoing story he's had for years. He's got like a self insert turtle-titan main character and he's created cameos for all his brothers too. Splinter is the mentor, Leo is the leader of like the superhero force, Donnie is his sidekick and he made Raph the damsel in distress out of spite.
But he's a pretty good artist. And I feel like he would be good at music too. Like he has an old keyboard in his room he likes to just mess around with. Nothing too fancy but sometimes he'll just play little jingles on it. Or 90% of the time it's him mashing the sound effects.
But april also plays piano and when she's there she'll show him a few little songs like she taught him heart and soul and they'll play that together.
Mikey is a couch hog if you sit beside him he is gonna put his feet on you. Like he'll be laying on the couch and he'll move his feet so someone can sit and then he'll put them right back down on top of them. And you can shove him off but he'll just stick them right back. Him and Raph go through this cycle every time they sit together.
Mikey collects human accessories like he's got a bunch of hats and sunglasses and necklaces. I feel like he would like to accessorize.
Mikey has a highlighter orange beach shirt with flamingos and palm trees and he's obsessed.
Also he has one of those tacky ab aprons he refuses to get rid of.

Summer Loving
If words fail… She'll know what I mean If words fail… She'll just take my hand She sees me like no one else has If words fail… She'll understand When Words Fail - Brian D’Arcy James
"C'mon you slowpoke!" You called back to Raph, your voice reverberating off the  walls of the sewer.
"You know I can easily catch up to you, right?" Raph said, keeping a modest distance between the two of you. You gathered he was being slow on purpose, probably because he wanted to let you win a race for once, but you weren't having it.
You knew what would happen if he caught up to you. So you goaded him on.
"I'd like to see you try, old fart!" You hollered before breaking out in a full on sprint, smiling widely as you rounded the corner.
You heard the telltale sounds of him rapidly approaching you, heavy footsteps breaking through your constant giggles until he was right behind you. He reached out and ran his fingers along your sides, knowing it was one of your ticklish spots, causing you to squeal and try to squirm out of his grasp.
"Raph! Let me go!" You managed to get out.
He didn't let up. "What was that you called me? An 'old fart'?"
"Okay, okay! You're not an old fart! You're a young one! A baby fart even! Please! I'm gonna pee!!" Tears welled up in your eyes as your cheeks quickly began to grow sore from the enormous grin on your face.
Thankfully he ceased his attack, allowing you to catch your breath. "So I'm a baby fart now?" He raised a brow ridge at you.
You slowly collected yourself before nodding. He let out a chuckle while shaking his head. "Suppose that's better than an old one."
"I don't know, you are kind of old." You teased.
"I'm only a month older than you. Besides, if I was really old, I wouldn't be about to do this." He promptly picked you up, easily settling you against his chest with a singular muscular arm.
You rolled your eyes in a playful manner. “Okay show-off. You made your point.”
He gave a breathy laugh as he set out further into the sewers, fully intent on carrying you the rest of the way.
Not that you were complaining. You planned for this after all, knowing after he caught up with you he would opt to hold you in his arms for the remainder of the walk, like he always did. You used to question it but always got a simple ‘It’s faster this way’, so you’ve learned over the years to just accept it.
After being away for five months at a time you found yourself wanting him to carry you at every opportunity when you were back home. Like now.
You decided to go out of state for your graduate program, wanting to further your education in data science at a gorgeous university located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Thankfully you only had two more semesters left and with each break you came  back to your hometown, staying with the turtles who graciously opened up their home to you since your family had moved out of the country during your previous semester. You used to live with April but since you began school in Colorado, she moved in with her boyfriend, Casey Jones.
You didn’t mind. In fact, you were glad you were staying with the brothers who you had come to consider family. You looked back on the night you met them with fondness - April trying to shield their hulking forms in her living room when you raided the kitchen at 2am, squinting at the massive mutants behind her in the dim light, tension filling the air until you asked them, in your sleep-addled stupor, if they wanted some late night nachos. Five plates of nachos later and the rest was history.
Over the past two weeks you spent as much time as possible catching up with the turtles. Leo joined you in yoga and meditation some mornings, Donnie enthusiastically discussed everything you learned while looking over your notes and textbooks (which you always let him keep), and Mikey was glad to have another person to paint with again.
And Raph, well anytime you weren’t hanging out with his brothers you could be found by his side. The two of you did everything together, from watching movies to singing along while he played his guitar. However one of your favorite pastimes was when the two of you would lay opposite of each other on his bed, him knitting while you read outloud, your legs resting against his. It was comforting, those moments.
Which did nothing to help your ever growing crush on the mutant terrapin. Soon after meeting him you were instantly smitten, feeling your heartbeat pick up whenever he glanced your way, or when he smiled at you, or when his hand would sometimes rest on your leg, running his fingers along your calf almost lovingly, causing you to stutter while you tried desperately to focus on the words you were reading to him.
Yeah, you were fucked…
Raph was your best friend and while the others would text you everyday while you were out of state, he was the one who always wished you a ‘good morning’ when you woke up for classes and a ‘good night’ when you headed to bed. At least once a week he would call you up when he knew you were in bed, talking to you for hours until you both inevitably fell asleep to the sound of each other’s breathing. He made you feel special, as if you were the most important person in his life.
And you supposed you were, since he told you so earlier when he tried to kiss you.
Okay, in your defense you should have seen this coming, but you figured he wasn't interested in you in a romantic sense, so you kept your feelings to yourself all those years. You told yourself that his wandering gazes and lingering touches were nothing more than what they were, just fixed looks and accidental brushes of skin. Oh how wrong you were.
For not even four hours ago the two of you were cleaning up after dinner, alone in the kitchen. You made a passing joke, one that might have been self-deprecating in nature, but it seemed to have caused something in him to snap since he took you by the shoulders and…
Well, if you had the tiniest sliver of uncertainty in regards to his feelings for you before, you definitely didn't now.
He confessed everything, from how he was captivated by your laughter and smile from the very beginning to how you occupied his every waking thought. How he missed you when you were gone and always treasured every second he spent with you, wanting nothing more than to spend the rest of his life by your side.
If only Mikey chose to barge into the kitchen a few seconds later, not when Raph's lips were only centimeters away from your own.
You bit your lip as you thought about that moment, remembering the sincerity in his voice, the way his warm breath tickled your face, the feel of his rough skin on your cheek.
And you were hell bent on getting that kiss tonight, through hell or high water. You had just the activity in mind to set the mood just right for that to happen, and thankfully when you suggested it to him he agreed.
“We’re here.”
Raph’s voice pulled you out of your thoughts. He had stopped at the ladder that led to the more affluent part of Staten Island, shifting you in his arms as he grabbed the rung closest to him.
“Better hold on tight, spider monkey.”
Your full-bellied laugh rang through the tunnels as he began his ascent, your arms looping tightly around his neck. Soon the two of you were in the middle of the suburban street. Using the dark of the night to his advantage he kept to the shadows, keeping the two of you out of sight despite it being almost midnight. You pointed out a house to him and he moved towards it. A quick peek over the backyard fence confirmed that this house had what you two were looking for and effortlessly hopped the two of you over the fence with you still in his arms.
Raph finally put you down and you immediately slid out of your flip-flops, the cool grass beneath your feet felt heavenly as you walked closer to the large in-ground pool. You bent down and tested the water’s temperature with your hand.
“It’s a bit cold, but thankfully it looks like no one is home to hear you bitch.” You teased, standing back up to your full height.
He let out a huff. “I don’t bitch. You’re the one who squeals like a little girl when the water… isn’t…”
He trailed off as he watched you get out of the oversized shirt you wore over your swimsuit, letting it fall to the ground and fully revealing your bikini-clad body to him. You looked at him over your shoulder, a knowing gleam in your eyes.
“When the water isn’t what?”
His mouth opened and closed several times as his eyes raked over your form. If this were anyone else you would have smacked them or at the very least yell at them for ogling you, but this was Raph, and now that you knew how he felt, you felt nothing but flattery for the way he took the sight of you in.
“Hello? Earth to Raph…”
He blinked and shook his head, as if he was trying to get rid of whatever mental image he had conjured up.
“Just get in the pool.” He grumbled, already taking off his gloves.
You snickered and took a few steps back from the pool’s edge, knowing getting in the chilly water would be easier if you jumped in. So you did, cannonballing into the pool with a modest sized splash.
Surprisingly enough your body adjusted to the water temperature rather quickly as you began moving gently across the water’s surface, seeing that Raph was now busy removing his knee pads.
“Any day now.” You taunted.
You couldn’t hear what he said in response because you went underwater, doing a few flips as you waited for him to join you. Finally he lowered himself into the chlorine water, wearing only his shorts.
As you came up for air you were prompt splashed. Raph chuckled as you sputtered.
“Really?!”
You were met with another splash.
“Alright, that’s it!”
The two of you started an all out war, attacking each other with never-ending barrages of water. Soon you had to surrender as there was no way to win against his powerful sprays he produced with ease while you struggled to land any hits on him. He basked in his victory, letting out several whoops while you snuck around behind him, latching onto his shell and pulling back with all your might, effectively sending both of you under the water.
You broke the surface and giggled as you felt his hands come to your waist before he joined you, his own laughs intermingling with yours in the quiet of the night.
Eventually the amusement of the situation died down. The two of you stayed that way, simply enjoying each other's presence while crickets chirped in the distance. He was crouched in the five-foot deep water so that he was eye level with you, holding you above the surface since he knew your mouth would be submerged if you were to fully stand. Time seemed to slow down as you stared into his golden eyes.
You decided now was the time to lure him in.
“Did you really mean what you said?” You asked softly, voice barely above a whisper.
Hook…
He seemed confused so you clarified for him. "What you said, back in the kitchen…"
Raph frowned while you felt the hands on your waist tighten their hold. "You think I would joke about something like that?"
You hummed, your own hands coming to run along his shoulders and upper arms in a repeated motion. "No, but I wouldn’t mind hearing it again.”
Line…
His breath hitched as you gave him a gentle smile. It took him a moment before he licked his lips and opened his mouth to speak but no words left him. This continued for a bit until he shook his head and let out a sigh. “Sorry, I’m… Having a hard time thinking right now.”
“That’s okay, take your time.”
Raph took a deep breath. “I just… There’s not much I can say that I haven’t already said.”
One of your hands moved to cup his cheek, running your thumb across the pebbled green skin.
His gaze never left yours as you felt him nuzzle into your caress.
“You’re everything to me.” His voice was low, as if he was afraid this was all a dream. “You… You have this way of making me feel like I really am someone; not just a giant mutant turtle, but an actual person. I know I can’t give you a lot, but I can’t keep pretending that I don’t love you. And…”
He trailed off as his eyes glanced down to your lips so quickly that you would have missed it if you blinked.
“And…?” You breathed out.
“And I really want to kiss you.”
Got him.
"Well, good…" You leaned in a bit closer to him before continuing. "Because I really want you to kiss me."
His eyes widened at your admission. The seconds ticked by as you allowed him time to gather his nerves. Finally he began to close the distance between you. Your heart pounded in your chest as you closed your eyes once his lips were a hair’s width from yours.
“MOMMY!! There’s a strange lady in the pool!”
The two of you froze.
“And she’s kissing an alien!”
Shit… Guess someone was home after all…
In your periphery you could see a small boy running back inside the home and several lights turn on, most likely from his mother checking to see what all the commotion is about.
“Run?”
Just as the question left your lips, Raph picked you up once more and hauled the two of you out of the pool.
He gathered up both of your belongings in one arm while he held you with the other, getting the two of you back into the sewers as quickly as possible before being seen again, jumping down into the dark tunnels and replacing the manhole cover with a skill that came with years of practice.
In the dead silence of the sewers the two of you gave one quick look at each other before devolving into fits of laughter. He gently set you down before handing you your sandals and shirt.
“Well, that didn’t go as planned…” You jested while you tugged your shirt over your head, the hem reaching your knees due to how large it was. Beside you Raph was busy securing his knee pads back on.
He chuckled while you slid on your flip-flops. “No, but that ain’t stopping me anymore.”
“Oh?” You asked, mouth curving into a smile.
Raph tossed aside his gloves and reached for you, pulling you towards him before he promptly pressed his lips against yours.
Yeah, definitely worth the wait…

Raph is right handed but he punches harder with his left and even prefers to use his left arm when arm wrestling.
Mona loves hot and spicy food. She has a high tolerance for that kind of stuff and is not affected at all by its burning taste.
April’s dad, Kirby, is a HUGE fan of Spaceheroes. He was a kid when the original series first aired on TV. Because of this, April was very familiar with the show and watched it a lot growing up. Her knowing Spaceheroes is what also started her close friendship with Leo.
Shinigami never knew her father, he abandoned her and her mother when she was still a baby.
Donnie loves peanut butter. His go-to snacks for him to eat always have peanut butter in it.
April and Mikey have been secretly creating an organized file full of ideas, pictures and vision boards for Raph and Mona Lisa’s wedding, hoping one day soon they’ll get engaged and when they do, April and Mikey will be ready to be their wedding planners.
In middle school, April had a punk phase.
Renet is highly allergic to cats, this worried Mikey regarding his pet, Ice Cream Kitty, but to their surprise Renet doesn’t get an allergic reaction from ICK. She’s the only cat Renet can be around so Mikey lets Renet play with her all the time.
Mona Lisa has a fascination with reality TV shows and is 100% convinced that they are in fact REAL.
After Splinter’s death, Casey felt guilty about how he treated/looked at Splinter. He felt he could’ve bonded with him more, seeing him as another father figure, but his phobia of rats got in the way of it. He’s mad at himself that he lost his chance to bond with a potential father figure because of his phobia and now tries to work on concurring his fear.
