One of the most original time-travel thrillers since 12 Monkeys. A brilliant subversion of the Time Paradox trope, with enough plot twists to keep you entertained until well after the movie is finished. Predestination is an amazing movie with great performances from Ethan Hawke and Sarah Snook. It’s a movie that will feel like Inception, when it comes to messing with your mind and barely anyone has heard of it. It is highly underrated and unknown, sadly.

A zombie virus breaks out and catches up with a father as he is taking his daughter from Seoul to Busan, South Korea’s second-largest city. Watch them trying to survive to reach their destination, a purported safe zone.
The acting is spot-on; the set pieces are particularly well choreographed. You’ll care about the characters. You’ll feel for the father as he struggles to keep his humanity in the bleakest of scenarios.
It’s a refreshingly thrilling disaster movie, a perfect specimen of the genre.

Serenity is a futuristic sci-fi film that serves as a feature-length continuation of the story-line from the TV program Firefly (2002–2003). The story revolves around the captain (Nathan Fillion) and crew of the titular space vessel that operate as space outlaws, running cargo and smuggling missions throughout the galaxy. They take on a mysterious young psychic girl and her brother, the girl carrying secrets detrimental to the intergalactic government, and soon find themselves being hunted by a nefarious assassin (Chiwetel Ejiofor). The first feature-length film from Joss Whedon (The Avengers), Serenity is a lively and enjoyable adventure, replete with large-scale action sequences, strong characterizations and just the right touch of wry humor. An enjoyable viewing experience that stands alone without demanding that you have familiarity with the original program beforehand.

In the year of the Netflix TV Show Maniac, another absurdist title stole critics’ hearts. Sorry to Bother You is a movie set in an alternate reality, where capitalism and greed are accentuated. Lakeith Stanfield (Atlanta) is a guy called Cassius who struggles to pay his bills. However, when at a tele-marketing job an old-timer tells him to use a “white voice”, he starts moving up the ranks of his bizarre society. A really smart movie that will be mostly enjoyed by those who watch it for its entertaining value, and not so much for its commentary. It is like a Black Mirror episode stretched into a movie.

Ex Machina is the directorial debut of Alex Garland, the writer of 28 Days Later (and 28 Weeks Later). It tells the story of Caleb (Domhnall Gleeson from About Time), an IT developer who is invited by a billionaire CEO to participate in a groundbreaking experiment — administering a Turing test to a humanoid robot called Ava (Alicia Vikander). Meeting the robot with feelings of superiority at first, questions of trust and ethics soon collide with the protagonist’s personal views. While this dazzling film does not rely on them, the visual effects and the overall look-feel of Ex Machina are absolutely stunning and were rightly picked for an Academy Award. They make Ex Machina feel just as casually futuristic as the equally stylish Her and, like Joaquin Phoenix, Gleeson aka Caleb must confront the feelings he develops towards a machine, despite his full awareness that ‘she’ is just that. This is possibly as close to Kubrick as anyone got in the 21st century. Ex Machina is clever, thrilling, and packed with engaging ideas.

It's a very brutal film and we're heading towards the time of intense brutality and a friend here is saying why don't you shut up with that s*** all the time but today I felt good that he's right we should act nice to each other and try and get over our problems out and we have to stop no end up shooting us out there each other it's not what I recommend this is not a good role model movie and it's all blood and stuff and you have to things it's really not worth it. We need to stop the hospital it wouldn't work well for us it's one size I guess we end up fighting as you can see it's a waste of time we have to align ourselves over both parish and guess who are fighting that's right another idiot is supposed to be a friend so we need the information on the max a lot of people have some they don't hand it out and it gets lost our friend here is tired of it what looks like a business has started is going pretty good and he has to do something his clan might be gone then the max were fighting a learning computer after time they might overwhelm it yeah it's time for us to stop this... If you lose your fleet you're going to come for us granted it's already gone almost in you're probably going to do that but I have to try and say it again

The Vakki Royal Family
Since its founding, Tartosa has prided itself in remaining peaceful and neutral in times of conflict. Advertising itself as the ultimate romantic getaway for the world, many have decided that it wasn’t worth conquering or making enemies with Tartosa or its royals. And life seemed to continue on in a blissful peace, until the First Invasion of Gen 8.
The Archduke’s wife, Leah Zakanagi, took her part in the fight on the front lines, along with the wife of Aoki Riku, Chaeya Faltal-Aoki. But Chaeya perished, and Riku wasn’t able to recover from the loss, and not long after the couple had their baby together. So, the Vakki family took Riku, their royal advisor, in to raise their two smallest family members together.
As Archduke Gianbatista Vakki readies himself to take the throne, he starts to wonder how long his family and his people can sit on the sidelines during global crisis, and wonders who’s side he should take and what fate is in store for his country.

Tartosa Life
Tartosa continues to be a peaceful, profitable, romantic destination that the locals take a lot of pride in. Everyone knows each other, and are welcoming to all outsiders whether they are tourists, or those looking for better places to spend their golden years.
Recently widowed former Queen Anahi Seindu came to retire with her husband and family, but Seth Bongrin decided to join the fight against the First Invasion of Gen 8, and was killed. Anahi, growing older with a growing family of children now wonders how to truly care for family alone with no money or power to back her up.
And hearing how Tartosa never had an army, coast guard, or anything needed to protect themselves, action movie star Dariux Beerloith, who survived in the First Invasion of Gen 8, wanted to start his own protective militia here. Everyone is skeptical, but The Duke and Duchess have allowed him temporary stay to build his army and put it to practice. If it fails, then the program is canceled permanently. Tartosa has done just fine in the past without an army.

The quiet woodlands of Moonwood have become havens for those looking to get away from the royal nonsense and live their lives. It has mostly been the home of werewolves, who were wary of strangers for generations, but have come to welcome the well-meaning settlers who respect their pack life.
Former star-traveler Miychiri Ohnaka, granddaughter of space pirate Hondo Ohnaka, did help fight the First Invasion of Gen 8, along with her father and grandfather, both of whom perished. She and her husband, Jacob Volkov, were badly injured and taken to staying in their hometown to raise their children.
One household recently changed their names to Sanguine, and have started a tea farm and apothecary. Spellcaster Roxana Sanguine seems to have unlocked the potential to change one’s occult status with no danger of death, but she has yet to prove if it works.

The Curated UltraLuxe Singapore Fest Returns
The UltraLuxe Singapore festival, a 10-day event featuring curated jewels, precious stones, timepieces, designers, including from India, edu-tainment and more is set to make a comeback this October. Here’s a preview outlined by Richa Goyal Sikri.
According to the 2021 Global Wealth Report by Credit Suisse Group, Singapore may have 437,000 millionaires by 2025 compared with 270,000 in 2020: a jump of ~62%. While other nations could boast of higher absolute figures, Singapore has the second highest density of millionaires in Asia at 5.5%. All based on an island where you can drive from one end to the other in forty minutes. And where there is wealth, there is patronage for the finer indulgences of life.
The country has successfully transitioned from being one of the most cautious during the pandemic, to one that is hungry to recapture its status as a regional hub. Singapore is open for work and play bringing back much-loved events such as the iconic Formula One race, top-notch entertainment, and the return of JeweLuxe, a curated jewellery show that has been an essential part of the country’s winter calendar of events.
This year, JeweLuxe will be part of a one-of-a-kind luxury festival, aptly named UltraLuxe, which will also debut the Singapore Watch Show. The festival will be held from 21st-30th October inside a plush, air-conditioned marquee at Ngee Ann City on Orchard Road, home to the internationally renowned Takashimaya department store. The ten-day affair will be an amalgamation of the best in fashion, jewellery, watches, and precious stones. Additionally, the festival will also offer a schedule of talks, panel discussions, demonstrations, and fashion shows featuring an array of subject-matter experts in design, gemstones, timepieces, fashion, and culture.
There are two clear segments of UltraLuxe: JeweLuxe for jewellery, and the Singapore Watch Show for spectacular timepieces.
Within JeweLuxe, designers have been organised across two editions: Icons & Legacies from 21st-25th October, and Wonders & Passions from 26th-30th October.
As the name suggests, Icons features jewellery designers whose work is recognisable, distinctive, and stretches the boundaries of convention in the art of jewellery making. Some examples include State Property, The Jewel Box, An Order of Bling who will launch a new collection at the show, from Singapore. From India, the exhibitors include Masterstrokes, with creations blending precious stones with enamelling, Umrao, bringing modern interpretation of vintage style, and the new and up-coming brand Tichu. Other Asian designers include Kavant & Sharart, Mousson Atelier, and Shelly by Dynasty. Rota E Rota celebrate interchangeability with their edgy designs, along with Zydo from Italy. Representing the Americas is the celebrated Silvia Furmanovich, and her superb creations in marquetry, Daria De Koning and Kimberly McDonald’s, with their mesmerising creations featuring an array of gemstones, and geodes.
The Legacy part of the first edition includes jewellery collections with rare gemstones, coloured diamonds, highly valued, historic techniques in artisanship, contained within high jewellery creations, which the organisers believe will stand the test of time and value appreciation. Some names include, SICIS from Italy who bring the ancient art of micro mosaic to high jewellery, home-grown brand Caratell, TENZO who beautifully blends intrinsic value with quality craftsmanship and design. First time participant FREYA brings a delightful collection of jewels featuring unusual shapes and styles of diamonds. Other participants include diamond specialist MORCHA, Infiniti Jewels, YOEL DEIL from Israel, Renee Jewellers from the UAE, to name a few. Floral and architectural creations abound in the second edition of JeweLuxe titled ‘Wonders & Passions’ from 26th-30th October featuring GEMAYEL from Lebanon, Dejade from Hong Kong, Leonori from Italy among others.

We have several things that are taking off
-my son and daughter are doing a lot of work they produced this week several effects that are going global momentarily they are very very huge and they're not to be misunderstood or or taking lightly they're great stuff coming from them and we do appreciate it all
-one of those projects we heard it recently about and we were calling it a king's motorcycle and it is a Harley-Davidson with a 45 horsepower rider lawn mower engine and gears. And the woman have a brand name it's ariens and it sounds like the girl Ariana's and everybody loves it they say they're Irish and she's pretty happy about it these bikes go fast she has one it's about 90 horsepower and it is light and she could do the wheelie across the country on one tank of gas it burns less gas because it is more horsepower. And you need wow does it move and she is a big girl at about 280 and that thing moves out and makes a horrendous noise it's great now king and queen were talking about it okay it's really delicious in a different form Alicia and there are excited because these bikes actually work and they're making this company up and someone is making the frankenbike yeah that would be him it's not the same as the king motorcycle company it's a fun name it's a fun company these things are going head right now we're waiting for the battery guy who's been wiring around them all day and we're going to release some more news shortly but they wanted it out and say that works great top speed we're in a very nice straight away you so it's safe but it wasn't tell me about 279 mph way faster than the superbike and Harley-Davidsons cannot keep up and it is a Harley-Davidson chassis with the rims the wheels and tires everything is original but the motor is much much lighter it was about 300 pounds the original motorway is about 650 pounds the one on Sun moved away it weighed about 500 lb really 480 but he put some stuff on it. baekwon is a ‘go with the flow’ kind of man. when selene spent that summer in jeju and he fell madly in love, it really opened his eyes. sure, he was heart-broken when she left, but they were teens. he moved on, and even better, now he knew he wanted to be out there, wandering the world.
it was years later doing just that when he ran into harmonia. they were really similarly-minded so things between them were very casual, until she came to him with a child. she disappeared just as quickly and suddenly baek had to figure out parenting, quick.
when he bumped into selene again, jae was already two and selene was pregnant. in reconnecting, though, they rekindled things very quickly and it’s only the logical next step for baekwon to lock things down right there and promise to raise selene’s child as his own. just like that.
selene comes from a family of prestige in the fashion world. with her grandfather’s money, her dad started the angier fashion house, but selene is the one who really pushed them to global success. she still designs for angier proper, on which her full name is credited, and runs things from belgium.
speaking of angier, every few years they update their global ambassador with the hottest up-and-coming icon and it’s a highly vetted position. the current ambassador is nl’s own freya waldron, or freja!
until recently, jae and charlie were both under the impression they were half-siblings who shared a dad. they’re still kind of fucked up about being lied to for their entire lives, but they’re still a tightly-knit duo. charlie will always be jae’s baby sister, and you can fight him on that.
using nepotism to her advantage, selene got baekwon a cushy job in a subsidiary company where he manages employee relations. they were both shameless about it but he’s a trophy husband now, he doesn’t give a fuck about shame!
actually, speaking of nepotism, jae is the only one allergic to it. charlie didn’t have any weird hangups about skipping all the boring steps to work where she wants to and she’s actually an incredible asset to angier, so who exactly is gonna tell her that she’s wrong?
jae, on the other hand, kept the angier out of his name from an early age to prove he could get where he wanted on skill alone. he worked his way up the industry ladder until it was impossible to keep his family name secret, but by then it was obvious he knew what he was doing.
he doesn’t use it at nl, though, because he never got out of the habit. anyone there who knows anything about the angiers already knows who he is, and those who don’t, won’t care, so why bother bringing it up?
the angier family and the arnault family (of louis vuitton) are the two most influential families in the french fashion community, so natually, they have a long ongoing beef / rivalry that spans generations.
jae’s biggest and last job was when he worked for louis vuitton (lol) and when he essentially had a breakdown in the middle of work and then ghosted them, the arnaults had him blacklisted. it’s why he can’t get work in fashion anymore, not that it’s stopped him from trying.

ACNH Headcanons: general stuff (not story-related)
Some of these may be slightly dark
- Megan and Judy are sisters who are less than a year apart (age-wise) making Judy the youngest snooty. Megan (like Maggie from the Simpsons) proved from an extremely young age that she had a high IQ and liked to read and study but her parents were more interested in fashion to the point where they gave up on Megan and decided to have a second child who actually liked fashion and all that boring stuff. The rare times they buy something for Megan it's pink and white (Judy's favourite colours) and has something to do with fashion/makeup/spa etc, annoying Megan. In-universe, Judy is more popular than Megan, getting more love than her from everyone (not just their parents) and her lack of love and attention growing up has been the lead cause of Megan's extremely low self-esteem, even by normal (personality) villager standards (beaten only by Coco). Megan and Judy's parents are so upper-class that they call Megan's friends her 'slaves'. Megan is, unfortunately, the only one in the family (not extended tho) who realises slavery is wrong and values her friends for their company and what makes them unique rather than for people to carry her luggage. Judy is also the only villager who Megan is willing to fight without feeling bad immediately afterwards. Ursala is Megan and Judy's cousin who used to act like Judy and her parents but discovered the joy of actually having friends. Megan has a long list of rules given to her by her parents (e.g. no reading books after 6pm and lights out before 8pm) that Judy doesn't have to follow. In short, their parents are mean and unlikeable and Judy is just a discount version of them. Oh, also, Judy thinks she's a queen and doesn't believe in the Magna Carter
- Bug-Offs and Fishing Tourneys are global phenomena and Nat, Chip, Flick and C.J. aren't the only hosts as a bunch more chameleons host the Bug-Off and a bunch more beavers host the Fishing Tourney. This is also why K.K. Slider never visits on those days: because he's busy somewhere else celebrating and (as his concerts usually begin when these events finish) wouldn't be able to make it in time
- Bob is horny. All other lazies are too innocent to understand what horny means
- Sherb has the same interests as other lazies but with a bigger focus on sleeping and a smaller focus on food and bugs
- Audie and Dom have basically swapped half of their personalities
- The previous point but with Raymond and Cyd
- It is a well-known fact (in-universe) that if two (or more) big sisters fight the argument will likely cause pain (both physically and mentally) for everyone around them and themselves and may not end until one of them kills the other. This is mainly caused by one stating that they are the only one in a group comprised of at least two big sisters claims they are the only one qualified to lead the group. Big sisters are VERY competitive when it comes to leadership. If two big sisters are in a relationship together, it may end up being a competition to see who can top the other. Phoebe is the most top big sister
- Leif has a crush on Kicks
- Kicks is poor
- Violet and Harry grew up together and made the switch from peppy/jock to snooty/cranky at around the same time. They are also younger than most snooties/crankies, only older than Judy, Cyd, the snooty and cranky ACNH 2.0 newcomers and Francine (with those guys' ages probably in that order with Judy as the youngest)
- Fang is a lone wolf (pun not intended) but often ends up leading the crankies and snooties as he's one of the few that doesn't fight for the role. Freya is his second-in-command and she takes care of the snooties while he takes care of the crankies
- Reneigh, Azalea and Frett are watered-down versions of their respective personalities
- Phoebe, Julian and Drago grew up together
- Kid Cat, Agent S and Big Top also grew up together and then one day discovered Rocket's potential and let her join the group
- Roald and Puddles grew up together and even gave each other their photos from Wild World when Puddles left. They also briefly knew Coco but thought she was a regular gyroid. The only villager who ever payed any attention to Coco was Marina. This lack of attention (as well as her existence) caused Coco's extremely low self-esteem
- Ankha and Vic (possibly among others, I'd say the most likely candidates here are Coco and Lucky, maybe also Quetzal and Leigh but probably not actually idk) were cryogenically frozen by a time-traveling Redd in their respective periods of time (Ancient Egypt and the Viking era). Ankha was a Pharaoh at the time of her freezing and Vic was about to pillage the British
- The normal ACNH 2.0 newcomer has the highest self-esteem of any normal villager
- Petri created Cephalobot
- Quinn often has to give the rest of the ACNH 2.0 newcomers a ride
- Tom Nook has a harem with his coworker/employee Isabelle, his childhood friend Sable, his friend Blathers and his rival Redd
- Zell has a crush on Vic but Vic just finds Zell's flirting annoying. Zell also has a crush on Agnes and Shari and they used to have a crush on him but no longer care, instead they have a crush on Ankha (as well as each other)
- The only villagers who care more about Megan than Judy are Roald, Puddles, Al, Audie, Sherb and anyone else who's lived on the same island as Megan. Megan and Audie always take the same side in arguments (unless they started it but that's pretty rare) and Sherb prefers to take Megan's side as well
- As well as K.K. Slider, Agnes and Shari (and probs other big sisters) love Avril Lavigne, P!nk and a singer called Lights
