Hi!!! Can I request a one shot where reader is mav’s daughter/Bradley’s “sister” but she doesn’t have a good relationship w either because she’s always been in Bradley’s shadow. Instead of her moving around w MAV she was sent to boarding school and Bradley always says that Mav just didn’t want to deal w her and things like that. Reader and Jake are dating (bonding over daddy issues lol) and it’s apt of angst between Mav Bradley and reader and fluff between jake and reader 😭
Always Darling | 1 | J.Seresin
Summary: No one was prepared for what was going to happen walking into the Hard Deck that day. Maverick wasn’t prepare to see in daughter and nephew for the first time in 20 years nor the memories seeing them would bring up. Bradley wasn’t prepared to see the girl he saw as a little sister, let alone see her all over Hangman. Willow was not prepared to see both of them in class that next morning, let alone how small she’d feel like she was back in perfect Bradley Bradshaw’s shadow all those years ago. But when she finally confronts him? Their mission may be in jeopardy.
Pairings: Jake "Hangman" Seresin x OC!Willow "Vixen" Seresin, brief mentions of Pete "Maverick" Mitchell x OC Daughter!Willow "Vixen" Seresin and Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw x OC God Sister!Willow "Vixen" Seresin
Warnings: angst, fluff, daddy issues
Note: none :)
Apr 2024 note: I did end up updating this into an OC as I dont write my series as a reader insert anymore.

"What do we have here?" Hangman shouts smugly. "If it ain't Phoenix!" Hangman leans against the pool table as the Phoenix walks up to him.
“I missed you!” Willow hugs her.
“I missed you too.”
"And here I thought we were special, Coyote. Turns out the invite went to anyone." Willow elbows her boyfriend's ribs, walking straight back over to the table.
"Fellas, this here's Bagman." Phoenix introduces him to the boys behind her.
"Hangman."
"Whatever." Phoenix smiles sarcastically. "You're looking at the only naval aviator on active duty with a confirmed air-to-air kill."
"Stop." Hangman acts humbled, causing Willow to laugh.
"Mind you, the other guy was in a museum piece from the Korean War."
"Cold War. Different wars, same century."
"Not this one." Willow smiles, pulling the pool cue from Coyote’s hands.
"Who are your friends?" Coyote asks.
"Payback."
"Fanboy." There's a brief pause before he questions, "Who’s she?”
"Vixen.“ Jake answers, pulling her around the table to stand in front of him. He positions her to where her back is against his chest. “My beautiful girlfriend.” Jake kisses her temple as she laughs, pulling away from him.
"Hey Coyote." Phoenix greets.
"Hey."
"Who's he?" Phoenix asks.
"Who's who?" Coyote questions before the attention is turned to the man sitting in the barstool nearby.
"When did you get in?" Coyote asks.
"Oh, I've been here the whole time."
"Man's a stealth pilot." Hangman chuckles.
"Literally." Coyote chimes in.
"Weapons system officer, actually."
"With no sense of humor." Hangman sighs, handing Phoenix his pool cue, walking to the bar.
"What do they call you? Willow questions.
"Bob.”
"No your callsign." Payback asks.
"Bob."
"Bob Floyd? You're my new backseater? From Lemoore?"
"Looks like it. Yeah." Bob nods.
"Nine ball, Bob." Phoenix hands him the pool cue. "Rack'em." She takes the extended cue from Willow who walks after her boyfriend.
“Penny my dear. I’ll have 4 beers on the old timer.”
“Better be getting one for me too.” Willow bounces up to the bar top.
“I could never forget my best girl.” Jake’s southern drawl flutters out. Willow leans into his side as Penny returns with their drinks.
“Hey Willow! You back too?” Penny questions, wiping down the bar as they pick up the bottles.
“Yea. How have you been?” Willow smiles.
“Good, ya know I just saw-“
“Willow?” Willow glances behind Penny to see none other than her father sitting on the other side of the bar.
“Maverick.” She nods curtly.
“Sweetheart-“ Maverick tries but she shuts him down.
“Don’t. Not here.” She shakes her head, turning away from the bar. “Let’s go Jake.”
"Bradshaw!" Phoenix calls. "Is that you?" Willow snaps her head around.
“Are you fucking kidding me?” She groans. The pornstache and tacky Hawaiian shirt caught her eye.
"This is how I find out your stateside?"
"Yeah, I just thought I'd surprise you." Bradley smirks, walking up to the pool table just in time for Phoenix to pull back on the pool cue causing Bradley to double over in pain from the impact.
"I guess I surprised you back." Phoenix says, turning around.
"It's good to see you." Bradley smiles, as he stands up.
"Good to see you too."
"Bradshaw, as I live and breathe." Hangman says, returning from the bar. He hands out the beers he brought back before removing the pool cue from Bob's hands.
"Hangman. You look good." Rooster nods at him, already annoyed.
"Well, I am good, Rooster. Real good. In fact, I am too good to be true." Hangman answers looking around at the group. Willow groans, sitting in one of the barstools nearby.
"So, anybody know what this special detachment is all about?" Coyote asks.
"No, mission's a mission. They don't confront me. What I want to know: Who's gonna be team leader? And which one of y'all has what it takes to follow me?" Hangman says, making a couple shots on the pool table.
"Hangman, the only place you'll lead anyone is an early grave." Rooster retorts.
"Well, anyone who follows you is just gonna run out of fuel." Willow snarks.
Hangman leans against the pool table. "But that's just you ain't it, Rooster? You're snug on that perch, waiting for just the right moment, that never comes." Hangman says, stopping when he is inches away from Bradley's face. "I love this song." He smiles, walking away.
"Well he hasn't changed." Phoenix says.
"Nope." Bradley eyes Willow, offering her a smile. She just scoffs and walks towards the door.
“Darlin, where are you going?” Jake calls, pulling her to a stop.
“I…” she struggles with the words, hearing the piano radiate through the room. “Fuck.” She groans, glancing behind Jake as Bradley starts singing. “Can we just go home? Please?”
“Yea, baby of course. Let me go pay off our tab. I’ll meet you at the truck.”
“Okay,” Willow nods, quickly walking out of the Hard Deck.
“Willow! Wait up!”
Willow glances behind her to see her father following behind her. “No. I’m not doing this with you now.”
“Willow, come on. You can’t still be mad.”
“You sent me to boarding school!”
“You were a trouble stu-“
“Right, troubled.” Willow scoffs, laughing lightly. “I just wanted my dad to see me. Treat me just like he did perfect little Bradley Bradshaw.”
“I didn’t treat you any differently.” Pete defends.
“Oh really? ‘Bradley’s going to state champs,’ ‘Bradley got straight A’s,’ Bradley this and Bradley that!” Willow shouts. “But did I get any praise? No! I get one B and immediately it’s ‘well when Bradley took that class!’ I am so sick of you comparing us! He’s not even your son!”
“He’s been through a lot.” Mav says, but it only makes Willow’s anger worse.
“So have I!” Willow shouts. “I lost everything. Mom! Uncle Goose! Aunt Carole! You! I lost people too!”
“Me?” Mav questions.
“Yes you! You left as soon as you dropped me off at boarding school and never came back!”
“I did what was best for you!” Mav retorts, yelling.
“Yea, whatever helps you sleep at night asshole.” She mutters, turning away from him. “Go back to perfect Bradley.” Mav had since walked away but only to be replaced.
“You think I’m perfect?”
“Piss off Bradshaw! I am not in the mood.” Willow groans, still walking towards Jake’s truck.
“Come on! You seemed to have plenty to say a minute ago.”
“You know what? I am so sick and tired of you thinking you’re better than me!” Willow shouts. “Always telling me how I should feel, or act. You’re nothing but a spoiled ass little orphan who can’t take no for an answer.”
“Same old Willow. I don’t blame your dad for leaving you at that school. You were always too much to handle.”
“Oh that's it!” Willow goes to charge him but is interrupted by Jake walking up.
“Everything alright out here?” Jake asks, jogging up to Willow.
“Yea, let’s just go home.” Willow pulls him with her to the truck, immediately climbing inside.
“You okay?” Jake questions after about 5 minutes, halfway to the condo they rented.
“Yea, just… can we not talk about it?”
“Of course.” Jake smiles, his hand rubbing circles into her thigh.
Willow retreated to the master as soon as Jake parked the truck.
“Darlin?” Jake followed her in. He quickly dropped their things by the door and followed her into the room. “Darlin what’s wrong?”
Willow immediately curled into the bed. “I don’t wanna talk about it.” She sighed, willing herself not to cry.
“That's fine. We can just lay here, okay?” Jake sits on the bed, opening his arms for Willow to slide into him and she does. Her cheek resting in his chest, one arm over his torso while both of his wrapped around her. “You know I love you right?”
“Of course. You know I love you?”
“Always darling.” He plants a kiss on her forehead as she slowly drifts to sleep. “We’ll get through this detachment. Together like everything else.” Be gently kisses her head again before drifting to sleep himself.

K's Master List
Hello there! I'm K and welcome to my side blog!
Minors please do not interact with my blog. I will block you. Blank blogs and ageless blogs have the same protocol. It's nothing personal, just trying to protect myself.
I do not do requests. It has nothing to do with you lovely people. I did requests for a previous fandom I was in and because I'm a natural people pleaser, it just became an unhealthy cycle. So, now I only write what I feel like writing.
Please do not copy or repost (i.e. copy and paste elsewhere - reblogging is a different thing and greatly appreciated) my work. This is the only place that I publish these works.
I don't do a tag list for all works since this side blog is exclusively dedicated to publishing and reblogging my own Top Gun content and an occasional announcement.
I do tag lists for ongoing stories/series. Simply reply to or reblog the work/series and say that you want to be tagged
To be tagged, you must have a reference to your age in your bio. No exceptions. It's nothing personal, but because this blog is 18+ Only, I'd look like a dumbass hypocrite if I tagged ageless blogs. Help me help you and put your age in your bio/pinned post.
Thank you for visiting and I hope you enjoy my works! My actual Master List is below the cut.
Works are separated by character. Characters with more than five posts have a separate master list. Major content warnings (i.e. pregnancy, death, etc.) are provided but please check each work for more specific warnings.
If you see a [*] symbol, it just means that work is more suggestive.
If a work is listed with "OC | Reader," the 'Reader' is biologically related to an established character (i.e. Maverick's daughter).
OC characters might have an established race/appearance, so check the summary/warnings of that work first.

Duck, duck, duck, duck, Goose! | Top Gun Fanfic 🧸
Top Gun AU✈️
Tumblr media
——
Pairing: Nick Bradshaw x Carole Bradshaw , Pete Mitchell & Tom Kazansky
Summary: When it came to kids Carole, Iceman and Maverick only had to worry about two. Bradley and his young brother, Dane. Then came Jenny. It seemed fit, 3 for 3! But when another Mitchell kid, came along they realized they had more on their hands. 4 for 4!
Characters mentioned/include: Audrey, Buzz, Wraith, Slider, Hazel, and the rest of the 86’ class
Timeline: Post-Top Gun (1986), Pre Top Gun Maverick
Warning: Canon character death mentioned
Fic type: Fluff and humorous, with small moments of angst
Previous fic —> Click here
———
There were moments like this where if you told Maverick and the others years ago, that kids would be part of the agenda they would’ve laughed at you so hard and through you were crazy.
But then the kids started coming over the years.
It started with Goose and Carole. High school sweethearts destined to get married and have kids of their own, where everyone can only wish to have a portion of what they had.
Of course, they had little Bradley Bradshaw or baby goose as he was nicknamed.
Adorable little blonde boy with cubby cheeks and a curious little smile that meant determination. He looked just like his father in every way, Maverick would tell his nephew that years to come.
It was great being a little group of 4. Memories made and laughs saved.
But sadly, then Goose died after a training accident while Carole and Bradley were there to visit them. Maverick felt horrible, so did Iceman, Audrey and the rest of the 86’ class. Gloomy painful days were to come after that.
However there was a flip side, a little surprise to come after the clouds were blowing away.
And that little beam of sunlight became Dane Bradshaw many months later.
Carole didn’t know she was pregnant at the time until Audrey pointed out how fuzzy she felt lately and honestly they couldn’t have been happier in that moment.
Maverick lightly joked, “Wow! I guess Goose really take you to bed.”
“Oh Mav, play nice and that was a little secret.” Replied the Carole with a smile joking back.
Sunset chuckled, “And made sure to leave a bag of surprises afterwards.”
Goose really did leave a bag of surprise afterwards but they didn’t know that yet until years later.
Duck, duck, duck, duck, Goose!
Dane Bradshaw was the spitting image of his mother with such a warmth and gentle smile to him, he was nicknamed pooh bear.
Him and Bradley were only 2-3 years apart in age, but there will be moments where they acted like they shared the same brain cell. Being silly little ducklings, surprising people with their charm and sweet tactics.
There were days Carole would come home to the kids (along with Maverick) causing a mess in the house baking. Days where the boys will go playing with water guns and end up getting Audrey’s clothes wet.
Or with Iceman, where Bradley would show their uncle an idea for an airplane to build with boxes and other items in the house. Meanwhile Dane would collect all the ideas, wanting to go big or go bold enough to shine with their plane where Ice couldn’t have the heart to say no.
Other times, Dane was the sweetest thing in the whole entire world. A gushing image is a gentle breeze holding up flowers to his aunties such as Hazel and Audrey, making get well cards for his mama. Hugging his uncle Mav and teasing his uncle Ice with a little grin.
But he was also very protective, him and his brother, being a guard dog when it comes their mother. That goes for Hazel, Valkyrie, Audrey and whatever other lady in their lives.
————
Speaking on ladies, they were surprised at the time she arrived. It was an unexpected surprise indeed as for she came at an old hour of the night. No alert, no phone call or an letter from the post man.
Just an knock on the door in a carrier held the first half of The Mitchell-Bradshaw clan. Jennifer Penelope Mitchell, or as she was nickname princess.
Don’t worry she gets a handful of nicknames later on, so do all the kids!
Pete and Ice were in total shock at the bundle of joy brought to their attention but welcomed her with open arms nonetheless.
It took Maverick a long couple of hours, even days to fully get his head around the fact he had a daughter.
It wasn’t until Carole met her and saw the cheeky little smile that she said, “Yup, Pete she’s yours alright!”
“Yes she is.” Audrey added, blowing raspberries into her cheek.
The girls fell in love with Jenny overnight, engulfed by her sweetness but since she was Mav’s kid the girl hated to sleep and very silly. According Iceman she was stubborn like her father but Audrey would say she’s stubborn like him instead.
When Carole brought the boys to meet their cousin/future best friend, Bradley was taken back by Jenny and Dane was curious rather shy about the ideas.
“Mama! Does that mean I have to share a room with her too?” Bradley asked pointed to the girl.
“Wha’ she do?” Dane added, his vocabulary and grammar not very accurate yet.
It was silly, since Dane Bradshaw was close enough be to around less than 2 years older than her but he was curious about the situation, not wanting to share the spotlight with anyone. Same thing when for Bradley, even though he was the oldest.
Carole had to correct them saying, “No boys, you don’t have to share a room with her. And she is just a baby, so she doesn’t do much yet. But I think you guys are gonna like her a lot.”
And as always, Carole Bradshaw is correct!
Since Bradley quickly warmed up to Jenny wanting to show her everything and take the girl everywhere he went like the big brother he is to Dane. Especially when Jenny got older he got to joke around, watching over her and and play with her a lot more.
Bradley nicknamed her Jenny Penny.
Dane, since they were somewhat closer in age range per say, the two were pretty close. Dane being softer, very silly toward the girl and more importantly being protective, catching up on new things with things he learned at school and playing with her a lot of the time.
He nicknamed her JenJen.
Eventually the boys would give her the classic nickname and future callsign, JenPen.
But Jenny Mitchell wasn’t the one who got nicknames, because to her Bradley was Brad Brad and Dane was Danny Boy.
Even though as the years went on, her nicknames for them changed to Chicken and Engineer.
———
Soon enough Baby Goose, Pooh Bear, and Princess had a 4th to complete the group (hopefully)…
…Daffy Duck!
Other name being used for Austin Mitchell.
If one Mitchell kid wasn’t enough, look no more to a second one! That was another surprise that left Carole, Iceman, Audrey and Maverick himself flabbergasted at the news. But it’s wasn’t an total surprise since Maverick was known for being in the dating scene a long time, falling in and out of love with several women because the attraction was a strong thing.
Like a lot things, it never lasted too long ending up in heartbreak, loneliness and confusion, thinking it was a short fling.
But as we learned that every actions has an equal opposite reaction. That resulted in his son, in which he chuckled and sighed in awe of the little smile that entered his world. He fell in love with his kid the moment he met him.
Slider joked, “Alright, either Maverick needs to do something about the love making around here or Goose had an grand ol’ conversation about bringing four ducklings with the big man upstairs when he left?!”
Iceman glared at his best friend jokingly, “Very funny, buddy. There is no way Mother Goose had this all figured out and planned for this to happened. It was just fate!”
Maverick shut them both up carrying his son in his arms and said, “Oh shut it you two! Before we know it you’re popping out kids of your own.”
Carole smiled, “My husband wouldn’t do such a thing, even if he did I think theses were gifts. Look how cute they are!”
~~~~~
Two blondes and two brunettes, all wrapped into a cute little gift baskets from Mother Goose himself.
“Yeah no Slider’s right, Nicholas Bradshaw brought down four ducking after his departure!” Audrey added a few minutes later.
~~~~~
Austin Mitchell was a spitting imagine and reminder of his father, times 10! From his brownish-green eyes to his nose, even the floppy mess of chocolate brown locks. His smile was no different, giggling about his favorite things and moving around with so much energy that he could become the next marathon runner for god’s sake.
But like any kid here, especially a kid that belongs to Maverick Mitchell, Austin was a clumsy boy knocking into everything and getting himself stuck in troubling situations. It was cute but also kinda annoying.
“A little tornado warning should come with him.” Joked Wraith once he met the boy with a smile.
Nonetheless he was loved. Jenny was only two years old when she got her baby brother, wanting to parenting him and keep the little guy out of danger with a pout. But then again, she was also very clumsy and cheeky herself so they both ended up in a little sticky situation.
Seriously, both kids were found in the kitchen once eating one of their father’s favorite sweet treat, being honeybuns, while on the floor giggling.
Iceman snorted so loud seeing his niece and nephew happily eating the dessert that his only questions was, “How did you two get your hands on it in the first place?”
“Unca Iceee!” Austin only yelled with a little smile and sticky fingers.
“You wan’ some?” Added Jenny with the similar little smile.
Other times, Austin would be the only one brave enough for certain things, dragging Bradley along to meet new people such as when they met Wraith or Buzz for the first time. Austin scared poor Wraith with his chaotic tendencies meanwhile Buzz laughed his ass off.
Plenty of times, that chaotic charm the young boy naturally held would bring a smile to the faces he meets, like when he met Ark and Hazel. When Austin finished hanging out with Hazel, she wanted to keep this boy for herself.
…but there were some moments where Austin’s shining personality mixed with the wrong crowd.
Let’s just say Ice and Mav enrolled him into little league baseball practice for one week, but midway through that same week the coach had to call Audrey to take the kid back home. Because due to Austin’s style, tiny temper and competitive nature when his team wasn’t winning, he decide to use his baseball bat and hit one of the kids from the other team with it.
The kid went as far as to chase the other children around the field in revenge and when Audrey heard that, she couldn’t help but laugh out loud. She knew it was a bad thing and they probably had to enroll him into a different sport, but the image in her head of her nephew chasing the other kids around like a Looney Tune character was too funny.
“Yup, he was definitely Pete’s son.” She said with a smile, picking up her nephew to take him out for ice cream and a small lecture onto how it’s not nice to hit people.
Let’s just say Audrey wasn’t the only one laughing at the news that day about why Austin Mitchell might not return to baseball practice that week.
————
Speaking of Austin, since he was hopefully the last baby for now at least, they decided to set up a color coordinated system for the kids.
That meant if gifts were given, certain items were being delivered, and everyday things like cups, hats, sweaters, backpacks, socks and or etc. each child had their own version of one.
Hell, each kid had certain days set on the calendar, where they all had to do something the other wanted. Like park, mall, trips to the beach and or going to the movie theater.
It was Carole’s idea! So there were no fighting, especially since they were all so little at the time.
Bradley’s things always had a cherry red dot, cute little red label or red post it note on them. (Sometimes apple or red-orange color)
Dane’s things always had a sunny yellow dot, little yellow label or yellow post it note on them. (Sometimes bumblebee or yellow-green color)
Jenny’s things always had a rosy pink dot, little pink label or pink post it note on them. (Sometimes lilac or pink-red color)
Austin’s things always had a sky blue dot, little blue label or blue post it note on them. (Sometimes olive or blue-green color)
And honestly, it was pretty helpful at the time when they were just little kids. Since they knew once they got older, all four of them would pick certain colors to wear, act differently for types of situations and understand the concept of what is not their stuff, don’t take.
But of course like any set of children, no matter what you did or how many times you had to lecture them about a topic, they will always fight about something. Like toys, bedding, backpacks, clothes, food and things to do together.
Like when Bradley and Dane were fighting over a certain Star Wars backpack they saw at Walmart to take for back to school time.
Or when Austin and Jenny were arguing about a DC LEGO sets they both wanted to buy, Batman or Superman sets.
They were kids! You can’t prepare for everything, so the parents always stepped in making the decision for them or had to settle on a small compromise on what’s the verdict.
——
Nonetheless, they were good kids that’s what matters.
Yes, they were all different ages with vastly different views on things and personalities but that’s what makes them unique.
They care about their children way too much and thanked Goose for sending such a wonderful set of surprises and memories to come.
But the question that the adults tend to have on their minds was, how would the world handle their set of ducklings as they grow up?
What kind of experiences they will have?
Who will fall in love and who will get their heart broken?
Will there be friends or foes that come they’re way?
So many questions but only time will tell…
———
Thank you so much for reading this! 🎬 I know, it’s not exactly formatted like my other stories per say but it was an interesting way to introduce theses kids.
What was your favorite part? 💕

Previous part - next part - masterlist
His homescreen was a picture of Hazel with Mac, taken a week later when they switched the kids for their parent-son day. He loved his small family.
While Nick and Bradley were having their conversation in Bradleys office, Hazel decided to take the twins grocery shopping with her. She had invited Connor that evening for dinner to celebrate the first day at Top Gun. “Okay kiddos, ready to go buy some food to make dinner for dad and Uncle Rex?” She asked her twin boys, looking at the rearview mirror of the rental car. Both boys where strapped in the seats and cheered at what their mom said. Hazel laughed before turning on the car and driving to the grocery store.
After a twenty minute drive the young mom parked the car close to the entrance of the store. She takes of her seatbelt before turning to her kids. “I will take you out of the car and you will hold my belt loop when we are walking towards the store. Than you can sit in the shopping cart. If you let loose of my belt loop and run off, I will get you and we will turn back home, Okay?” She asked, making sure her kids understood her. “okay mommy” Benji said while Mac nodded at his mom. Hazel smiled while she opened her door to get her kids out of the car. She was glad her kids listened well to her. She was proud of Nick and herself in raising such fine boys, even when they were only 4 years old.
When inside, Hazel picked up Benji first to put him in the shopping cart, Mac followed. “Okay, I will put items around you, I don’t want you to play with them unless I say so and if you throw something out of the cart, I will take you out and you can walk next to me, okay?” She asked her boys again. The kids nodded. “Okay then let’s start shopping” Hazel said, taking a grocery list out of her purse.
“Mommy, mommy, you can’t forget the cake mommy” Benji said, pointing at a birthday cake when they pass the bakery aisle. Hazel laughed: “why would we need a cake Benji” “for daddy and Uncle Rex, mommy. You said celebating and celebating means cake” the 4 year old explained to his mom. Hazel laughed once again at the mispronunciation of her son. “You are absolutely right Benji” she agrees. “But we are not celebrating a birthday, so let’s get this brownie cake, it’s dads favorite.” “I like brownies too mommy” Mac said proudly. “I know sweetie” she said while placing the cake next to Mac.
The small family keeps shopping, not knowing a familiar person stood frozen from afar, following the family with her eyes while holding a watermelon in her hands. No, it couldn’t be. The woman was hallucinating, she didn’t just see her daughter walk into the store with 2 kids. She didn’t just hear both kids call her daughter mommy. That woman couldn’t be an older version of her daughter. Quinn stood frozen for another 5 minutes before placing the watermelon back and starts walking around the store. Not caring she left her shopping cart behind. She only need to see the woman again to make sure she didn’t see her daughter.
After passing the fourth aisle Quinn freezes once again. She could hear a laugh coming from an aisle further. A laugh only a young boy could make. And then she hears a woman’s laugh. A laugh Quinn knew all too well. That laugh belonged to her daughter. Slowly she walking towards the aisle, hiding behind the closed samples bars, standing next to the rows of cereals, she looked into the aisle.
There stood her daughter once again, holding up one of her kids to pick small cereal box from the top shelf. The boy she was holding had his tongue stuck out, focussing on completing his task of picking the box. Quinn’s eyes follows the laughing sounds and land on the boy in the shopping cart. He was laughing at his brother. Than she heard her daughter laughs again and her eyes wander back towards the woman. She has grown so much. She turned from a pretty teenage girl to a stunning young woman. She became a mother, and from what Quinn could see, her daughter became a great mother too.
Quinn got tears in her eyes. How she missed her daughter so much. Like her husband, she never forgave herself for putting her trough what she put her through. She felt guilty of what she did. She thought back to her own pregnancies. How difficult they were for her, the morningsickness that lasted for months, the moodswings that made her lash out on Jake, even though he hadn’t done anything, the midnight cravings where Jake had to leave to the midnight store to get the exact right food for her. the constant back pains and food cramps that went so intense she sometimes cried herself to sleep too. And that was only with one child. She couldn’t imagine what she had to go through with two kids at once. Quinn knew she was taking care for by Nick. She knew Nick treats her right before, during and after the pregnancy.
The boy completed his mission and got the cereal box from the top shelf. His brother cheered while Hazel put the boy back in the cart. “Great job Mac” she said kissing the young boy on his forhead. “You will get the next ingredient from the shelf Benji” she told the other kid, who smiled at her.
Quinn froze for a third time in those 20 minutes that passed by. Benji and Mac, the twins names were names Hazel and Nick were very open about naming their children. Quinn can still remember the first time she heard the name Benji come from her daughters mounth.
A newly 7 year old Hazel was opening a birthday from her grandparents. Her whole family was standing around her, watching the young girls smile. She gasped before showing the present to her parents. “Look mommy, daddy, it’s a baby doll” she said, holding the doll in her hands like she seen her mom do with Benjamin when he was born. “I see sweetie, what is their name?” Jake had asked his daughter. Hazel put up her thinking face, which had made the family laugh. “I know!” She said excited. “I’m gonna name them Benji, like Benjamin. That way, I will have my own Benjamin” she explained to her parents. Years later, Hazel kept saying she would call her firstborn baby boy Benji. No one thought she would keep that promise.
A couple of years later Quinn heard the second name pass by. Nicks kitchen was being renovated. Meaning Nick couldn’t concentrate one bit on his homework. Jake and Quinn let Nick use their kitchen table to study at when the library was closed. One day Nick was doing some Science homework when Jake noticed an egg with a face drawn on sitting on the table. “Why is there an egg on the table and why does it have a face?” He asked the room. Quinn was preparing for dinner, while Bradley was waiting for Nick to finish his homework to take him home. “Oh that’s Mac” Nick had answered. “It’s this thing we need to do for school. You need to look after an egg and the persons egg who can survive the longest can win something” he explained. “Mac? You give it a name?” Bradley laughed at his son. Nick laughed akwardly. “Yeah we had to give a name to make the experience real or something. I thought Mac was a cool name. Who know I can name my future child that” he laughed.
Quinn laughed at the memory. Of course Nicolas Peter Bradshaw would name his kid after an egg project from school. She decided to leave the young family alone. She didn’t want to make a scene and didn’t know how her daughter would react to seeing her mother after 5 years. Quinn turned around, ready to look for her shopping cart when she bumped into an other customer, making their shopping cart to flip over. Hazel looked over at the noice, only for her to freeze this time. Quinn stood with her back to Hazel, but she can hear the shock in her voice when one word came out of her mounth: “mom?”

Top Gun Maverick HCs: How They Got Their Call Signs
i'm sure there is some official explanation for all of them, but this is what my silly little brain enjoys
Hangman- Hangman absolutely failed English class. This man cannot spell, punctuate, anything, especially over text. Someone said "texting Seresin is like playing a f*cked-up game of hangman" and it stuck. Any other innuendos meanings are pure coincidence
Phoenix- She refuses to give anyone context, but long story short, she lit her hair on fire. That's why she's always wearing her signature bun, to avoid any more accidental arson
Rooster- Roosters are known for two things: being early risers and loud/annoying asf. Our bestie Rooster is also known for those same two things around base
Payback- He's a legendary prankster, especially fond of a long con. Every so often, karma (aka Fanboy) does decide to hit him back
Coyote- Coyote has many interesting hobbies, one of the main ones being karaoke. He can rap any Nicki verse with style, but his howling singing voice led to his call sign
Bob- Much like in the movie, Bob misunderstands the question 'what should we call you?' and he answers 'Bob.' This leads to his frineds trying to make Bob stand for something. Ex, 'Baby On Board', etc.
Fanboy- In the movie, it's implied that he's a Star Trek fanboy, but what it doesn't show is that he's a fanboy over everything. Music, movies, shows.. he's also the best at hyping everyone up before a date, mission etc.
BONUS!! My OC Margo 'Wildcard' Mitchell- She was given her callsign because of her notoriously bad poker face. Also she's way too competitive for her own good and will do reckless and dumb things to win

Jake came out of the shower to see Ronnie sitting at the edge of the bed, top half completely bare and t-shirt tossed into the corner by their suitcase. She gripped the comforter tight, shoulders heaving as she stared at the wall.
“You okay, darlin’?” he asked as he ran the towel over his hair again.
“No,” she whimpered, voice shaken with tears.
Jake quickly yanked on a pair of briefs before rounding the bed to see what was wrong. There were tears streaming down her face, brow pinched in pain as she continuously glanced down at her chest.
“What’s wrong, baby?” he asked quietly as he got down on his knees before her.
Ronnie sucked in a deep, shuddering breath before she spoke, “Maisie didn’t finish her boob before she fell asleep.”
His face softened in understanding, his hands racking up and down her thighs in a soothing motion. And now that he was really looking at her, he could see it too. Her breasts were swollen, painfully so — full of milk undrunk, hard and aching. Ronnie whined again as more tears slipped down her cheeks. Their daughter was a good sleeper, wouldn’t need another feed until morning. So she was left full and ready to feed with nowhere to put it.
“Alright, where’d you put the pump?”
“I-I forgot to pack it.”
“Ronnie,” he sighed, head dropping down to her lap.
“I know, I’m sorry,” she cried, leaning back on the heels of her hands. “I am regretting it so much right now — this fucking hurts.”
Jake had been trying to ignore the intrusive thought since the first time he watched Ronnie breastfeed Maisie. When it first popped into his head he found it depraved, maybe even a little sick. She was producing milk to feed their daughter, for crying out loud. It was a miracle, a beautiful thing of nature that astounded him and put him in awe of his wife and all that she was capable of. But once the thoughts started it was hard to make them stop. He thought about it constantly. What it must taste like. How it must feel. His cock twitched to life even as he sat on his knees before his miserable, crying wife. He told himself he was just trying to help her.
“I mean…” He started, coughed to try and hide the arousal in his tone, then tried again. “I mean, I could…?”
She caught his meaning immediately and threw her head back with a groan. “God, please Jake, anything to make this stop.”
“Okay,” he chuckled lightly, even as he readjusted his briefs around his already half-hard member.
Ronnie pulled herself back up to sit up straight as Jake’s hands found purchase on her hips, pulling her closer to the edge of the bed so he could fit himself between her spread thighs. Skirt bunched up around her hips to provide better access. A whimper bubbled in her throat the closer his face got to her breasts, large nipples red and irritated already beginning to leak. On instinct, he licked the drop away before it could make a mess. The noise she made forced his hips to stutter against the mattress and boxspring.
“Jake, please,” she whispered breathlessly, hands combing into his hair to urge him closer to her swollen tit.
He couldn’t hesitate anymore. Not when she was offering so freely, not when she was in so much pain, not when he had been dreaming about this for months. Not when it felt like his lips practically itched to be around her. He didn’t even care if he seemed eager — he latched onto her and sucked deeply. Ronnie’s back arched, her fingers death gripping his hair. Milk burst onto his tongue and he groaned around her nipple. The taste was sweet and everything he ever wanted.
Then she pushed at his face and he stopped immediately. Both of their chests heaved. Jake wiped at the corner of his mouth. Watching disdainfully as her milk continued to dribble down the slope of her breast. For a moment, he feared it was all too much. That he had taken it too far.
“Gentle, please,” Ronnie whispered, hands curving back into his hair. “M’really sensitive. Your daughter is intense when it comes to her boobs.”
“Sorry, sorry,” he chuckled. “I’ll be gentle. Unlike some people.”
He threw a look over his shoulder at the other room where Maisie was sound asleep. Ronnie laughed despite the pain that she was still experiencing.
Putting his mouth on her again, he sucked gently as he squeezed the base of her breast — remembering from when he would sit next to her as she pumped. Ronnie sighed in sweet relief, her head falling back at the lessened pressure. But as she experienced relief, Jake was experiencing more and more pressure. His cock was rock hard, jumping at the taste of her milk and the sweet little sighs she released. God, he just couldn’t help it. He needed his own relief, it was becoming unbearable, impossible to ignore — no matter how much he wanted to just focus on helping his wife. But once he started rutting against the side of the mattress he really couldn’t stop.
“Oh,” Ronnie gasped.
She could feel it — of course she could. He was practically humping her leg. Slow, calculated thrusts in time with the way he sucked at her tit. She looked down at him, really looked down at him for the first time, and the way he looked back up at her made something like a fire lick down her spine straight to her core. His pupils were blown wide, consuming any hint of green. His cheeks were flushed a light shade of red that any other time she would have found adorable. His tongue swirled around her nipple as he sucked and her back arched, pushing her chest further into him as she made another one of those pretty little sounds he knew so well.
He pulled his lips off of her with a gasp, chest heaving. “Shit, fuck, please tell me you’re as into this as I am?”
“God, surprisingly,” she said.
Jake was quick to run his hand up the length of her thigh, her gasp small and yearning as he easily reached the apex. Her panties were soaked through. He moaned, hips adjusting uncaringly to rut against the slightly more forgiving flesh of her calf, as he moved the ruined fabric aside and easily slipped two fingers inside.
“Jesus, you’re wet.”
“S-Surprisingly,” she repeated, stuttering the word out around the delicious curl of his fingers.
“That feel good, darlin’?” he asked, pressing his thumb into her clit.
“Fuck,” she hissed, hips grinding against his hand as her fingers fisted the comforter beneath her. “Jake, the other one — please.”
He looked to her other, ignored, leaking breast. Still so swollen and hard. Watched as the milk rolled down her body to get soaked up by the fabric of her skirt. He licked his lips before latching on, forgetting to be careful as he sucked deeply. Ronnie cried out at the sensation, instantly slapping a hand over her mouth to keep any other noises at bay. She was not about to let this get interrupted by a crying, rudely awoken baby. Jake, ever the expert at multitasking, kept up the pace of his fingers in her core — keeping it in time with the swirl of his tongue and draw of his lips on her tit.
He swirled his thumb on her clit and she whimpered soft and broken, her fingers clawing onto the back of his head to keep him right where she wanted him. “Don’t stop, please, don’t. Feels so good.”
Jake groaned around her nipple, pumping his fingers faster in time with the piston of his hips against her leg. Then, suddenly, she crashed into it. Her cunt clamping down on his fingers hard, sucking him back in. With her head thrown back and a breathless moan spilling endlessly from her lips. Jake detatched from her breast as his hips stuttered to a stop, breathless and flushed and more than anything surprised by what just happened.
“Holy shit,” he gasped, pressing his face into her belly. “I just creamed my pants like a fucking teenager.”
“I don’t think a teenager would ever do what we just did, babe,” Ronnie laughed back, smoothing down the wild strands of his hair that she herself had messed.

Authority Thing || Pete "Maverick" Mitchell
Summary: Request - Hi can you write a request about Maverick x a shy pilot reader and make it fluffy. Like Maverick pulls reader out of her shell?
A/N: Kinda made this a shy pilot because she’s crushing on him not because she’s shy in general. Also turned out way more angsty than I was planning but it’s still super fluffy! Hope you still enjoy :)
Pairing: Pete "Maverick" Mitchell x Y/N (2022 Version)
Word Count: 3.7k +
Edited again 3/11/24 after finding lots of issues - sorry!
Tumblr media
He knew from the moment he spotted you in the back of the classroom on that very first day he was a goner. Physically, you were perfect. Your hair framed your face perfectly, your eyes reflected the sunshine in a way he’d never seen, your smile was truly infectious, you were perfect in all the right places.
Mentally, you were a challenge for him. You were shy. So quiet. He couldn’t seem to get through to you either. You were close. So damn close to taking that next step. But it’s like you were afraid. You were scared to fail. You were an exceptional pilot. Right on par with Hangman. You were good enough to block him out and take him down. You were able to prove that you were the best of the literal best. But something was stopping you.
You were never afraid to challenge your classmates. He got a kick out of it when you’d snap back at Hangman with the venom dripping in your voice. You were beyond intimidating when you needed to be. You didn’t need to talk shit because your flying proved how good you really were. You knew you were good. You knew you were great. You also knew your limits. You knew you needed to become exceptional. There was something more for you to give. You just had to find it first.
But Pete, Maverick, Mitchell? Maverick terrified you, in the best way. He was a legend. Literally never lost. Almost had five live air kills… you could go on and on about him. Ad to find out he was your instructor for the next six or so weeks? You knew you were toast. Absolute toast. Then you actually laid eyes on the Captain, and you wish you could’ve just exploded right there on the spot. He was handsome. So, fucking handsome. You locked eyes with him for only seconds on that first day of class before your turned away. You didn’t look back to him at all that class. Too terrified you’d make a damn fool of yourself.
So, you kept it short with him. Quick ‘Yes’s and No’s’. You’d often just take his corrections without fighting back. It confused him. You were so damn different with him than anybody else. You’d even warmed up to Cyclone, the Admiral for God’s sake. He saw you walking, talking, and laughing with him on your way to lunch one day. He didn’t have a clue as to why you were so shy around him. Why you’d rather run in the opposite direction than have to pass him in the hallway. It’d only been two weeks and it was driving him mad. He needed to talk with you. Was it something he did?
He would he decided. At the end of your next classroom session. One way or another he’d get some answers out of you. He needed to know if he did something wrong. It was gnawing at the back of his head.
“Birdie, if you don’t mind. Stay back for a second?” You looked at Bob who just shrugged, unsure of what your instructor could have wanted. You packed up slowly letting everybody trickle out before walking towards the front of the classroom.
Birdie. Your callsign. You had a love and hate relationship with it. You’d always joked that you felt like a bird in the sky when you were in training to become a pilot. Your friends promptly started calling you Birdie and it just stuck. You kind of wished you had a more fun story to tell other than the boring one of how you got your callsign. But alas, you didn’t. It was simple. Cute. Basic. Kind of like you. You’d never seen yourself as anything but ordinary. Just Y/N. Good at her job Y/N.
“Captain.” You let out a shaky breath. He made you nervous. So damn nervous. People of authority always did. And then he looked like that on top of it? Forget it. You were a goner. It wasn’t right to be thinking such unsavory thoughts about your damn instructor in your head. It made you act like a fucking weirdo in front of him. Case and point. You couldn’t even look him in the eyes.
“Good job up there today. Four for four.” You looked up from where you standing just quickly enough to see him staring right at you. Why’d he have to be so handsome? It was an unfair game that was suddenly being played against you.
“Thank you.” A small smile crept to your face hearing the compliment. It felt good. A small praise from the man giving you a small bit of confidence to look up to him but give him no more.
He nodded walking down to you, standing across from you. Your heart rate picked up quickly feeling his presence right there. Right in front of you. Oh, how you’ve avoided this situation masterfully. Now look where you were. Stuck alone in the classroom with him right there in front of you. What could possibly go wrong?
He waited until you looked at him to continue. He knew curiosity would get the better of you sooner or later. He was right. After thirty seconds of silence, you looked up.
He smiled seeing your doe-eyed expression. He shouldn’t feel this way about you. He shouldn’t want to brush the strand of hair that fell out of your bun away from your face. He shouldn’t want to run a hand along your back. He shouldn’t want to fucking kiss you senseless. But he wanted it. He wanted it all and more. So much more. What the hell was wrong with him? You were so young. So lively. Had so much to look forward too. Hell, you even had a shot of becoming an admiral if you had the drive to do it.
“Sir?” You asked, waiting on his question. His reason for holding you back.
He hummed delaying a second, “Everything alright?”
Nodding quickly your head turned up to him again, “Yeah, why wouldn’t it be?”
He shrugged looking away for a moment. Giving you a second of reprieve from his gaze. Everything about the man was commanding. Everything, “No reason. You just seem to be a bit fidgety?”
What the hell was he going on about? You weren’t acting any different than you had been prior, “I do?” Of course, you were fucking fidgety. He was less than a foot from you not having a damn clue what he was doing to you. You could smell him. He smelled better than you imagined. Leather, oil, and cedar all mixed together. Way too good for a day instructing on base.
“Did I do something?” He spit it out. Well, it was out in the open now. It’s not like he could take it back. It sounded so terribly insecure when he spoke it out loud.
You shook your head, “No, not at all Captain.” Your heart started racing as he gave you a once over.
“Then what is it Lieutenant?” He asked with all the calmness in the world.
Your head was swimming. Swimming with thousands, millions of thoughts, “Sir?” Play dumb. That was always the easiest route to go.
“Why can’t you look me in the eye Y/N?” Why’d he have to use your name like that? It got your dumb hear racing faster than even you were used to.
Your eyes snapped to his. That was not the question you were expecting, “You… Authority makes me nervous.” You spoke quietly deciding to keep your eyes locked in on his. Not letting his statement completely reign true.
He grinned a wicked look before a much more innocent one came to face, you didn’t miss it though, “I make you nervous?”
You said nothing at first, nodding quickly in agreement instead, “Authority.” It was merely a whisper.
Mav’s face cracked into a simper while he studied your features, “There’s nothing to be nervous about.”
You didn’t move your head, but your eyes moved to look to him, “I suppose that’s easier said than realized.” You admitted.
He stepped forward. Probably crossing a line, he shouldn’t have. But he couldn’t stand it. Why were you comfortable with everybody else but him, “What can I do then?”
You cocked your head to the side, “What do you mean Mav?” You asked so softly he thought his knees were going to buckle right then and there. You said his name so sweetly it took him off guard. He really should just let you go. This was a bad idea. He shouldn’t be pressing you like this. He knew better than to. But he didn’t want to. He wanted to press on. Dig a little deeper. See you a little bit better. He was intrigued.
“Is there anything I can do to make you less nervous?”
You laughed softly. Get ugly? Stop looking like that? Stop being so hot in a flight suit? Stop being my flight instructor? “Afraid not Captain.” You sat back on the desk knowing this was likely not going to be over soon.
He took a seat next to you, “Why not?”
You shrugged, “It’s the authority thing. Call it trauma.” You joked.
He smiled along with you, “So, say I wasn’t your instructor…”
Cutting him off quickly you felt your blood run cold, “You’re not going to kick me off the squadron are you?” your panicked look made him feel awful
He shook his head quickly, “No, no never. It’s a hypothetical.”
You sighed softly, “Sorry.” You felt an overwhelming amount of embarrassment consume you. You’d worked so hard to get to where you are that even a little bit of an inkling of a threat sent you into overthinking mode. You weren’t proud of it by any means. It was something you were working on.
“It’s fine.” He smiled feeling your tension just radiate off your body. He seemed to pick up on anything relating to you. Again, he had to wonder. What the hell was wrong with him?
“Would you be as nervous around me if I wasn’t your instructor?” He quirked up a brow all too curious to hear your answer.
You laughed softly, “Yes, I would.” It was starting to become easier to talk to him. But he still intimidated the hell out of you. You hadn’t a clue how to navigate your superior being hot as hell. Normally they were old dudes who had kids your age. Not Maverick.
He huffed in almost frustration. He appreciated thar you were being honest with him, but he wasn’t sure what it was about him, “But why?”
You shrugged, “Still an authority, Captain.”
He placed a hand a little too close to yours, “You seemed just fine with Cyclone earlier.” He leaned in almost challenging you. He loved talking to you, but this conversation had gone of for too long now. Curiosity was literally killing the cat.
You nodded along with him, “Well yeah, that’s different.”
He looked at you incredulously, “How?”
It slipped out before you really meant to say it, “He’s married.” And then it was out there. It didn’t take Pete long to put two and two together. You were basically screaming that he was off limits and that Pete wasn’t. You didn’t mean to all but admit it but here you were. Heart hammering in your chest.
“I mean. He’s established. He’s not my direct authority. You know what I mean?” Even you didn’t know what you meant. You were caught red handed. Hand in the cookie jar. Damn. It is what it is now.
Mav shook his head with a lopsided grin, “I think I know exactly what you mean Y/N.” He also knew you’d never outright admit it either. He realized just how damn weird the whole thing was for you as well. He was your superior. You couldn’t cross that line either. Not unless you knew for sure that it was alright. The game the both of you were playing was dangerous. Very dangerous.
Thick tension hung in the air. You hadn’t a clue what to say to your instructor after accidentally telling him the real reason he made you so nervous. Not outright spilling the truth but putting making it rather obvious in your wake instead.
“I should get going.” You stood from the table you were sitting on.
He mimicked your actions, “Should you?”
Nodding your head you gave him a flash of a smile, “Yeah, long day tomorrow. You said so yourself. Right?” Raising your eyebrows, you knew you had him there.
His otherworldly smile lit up his face. God, he was so handsome. That just wasn’t fair.
“Right. Sleep well Y/N. See you in the morning.”
“You too Pete.” You weren’t sure why you used his first name, but it felt right. Felt like a step you wanted to take for yourself.
You didn’t catch the furious blush that rose to his cheeks at that. He knew he needed to pull back immediately, or he’d get himself, or you, in trouble. He couldn’t be blushing around Cyclone when you came around. He’d just have to ignore it. He could do that. Or so he thought he could.

Maverick must have gotten in your head. The next day was... less than stellar. You had a bad day. A very bad day. You landed without a single victory. With Rooster shooting you down for the second time that afternoon.
Sitting in the jet cockpit of the hangar you’d pulled your helmet off without much thought and just sat there. Thinking. You were fine yesterday. What the hell happened today? You’d been shot down five times. Twice by Hangman, twice by Rooster and once by Phoenix. You weren’t even close to shooting them down.
You were too eager with you grip making dumb rookie mistakes. Mistakes that’d have you shot down in an instant up in the air. All of them were able to see it and exploit it. A bad day. That’s all it was. It didn’t make you a bad pilot. Not in the slightest. You had to remember that. Drop today and remember how good you really were.
“Are you going to come down Lieutenant?” That voice broke you from the thoughts that were seemingly tormenting you in the cockpit. The ones that kept seeming to tell you that you weren’t good enough. You might’ve been the best at your home base but not here. No. You were average amongst the best.
Your eyes snapped open. Pete? What was he doing down there? He hardly came out here after training, “Yeah.” You answered quickly not wanting to leave him waiting. He wasn't one for patience, “Just thinking.” You knew you needed an excuse or he would press. No matter how lame it may be. But it wasn’t a lie. You really were just thinking.
He didn’t say a word as you came down the ladder. When you got a good look at him he almost looked, angry? His lips were drawn in a thin line. He had a hard time looking at you. Eyebrows stitched too close together for him to be in a good mood.
“What the hell was that?” His normally chipper tone had vanished. He sounded too much like an instructor now. He didn’t even sound like the Maverick you had gotten to know. No, a drill sergeant instead. He noticed your expression change as you realized this wasn’t going to be a fun conversation.
He felt bad doing such a 180 on you like that. But he had to, for your sake. Or so he thought.
“I’m not sure sir… I...” You stammered trying to come up with something. He’d already made you nervous and now this? You were a blubbering mess. Sure to look like the fool of a woman you knew they were likely expecting of you. See, the men could make mistakes. You couldn't. Women couldn't.
“Not a single kill today Lieutenant?” His voice stayed icy as you stood there forward like he was a drill Sargant. It suddenly felt like you were back in basic training all over again.
You looked down in what felt like shame, “No, Captain.” The voice that came out of you sounded weak. Likely because you felt weak. You didn’t feel like you were good enough to be here. Like all those kills you got against Hangman and Rooster prior to this day was just all just luck. Straight luck. Rationally, you knew better. You knew how good of pilot you were. You wouldn’t be good enough to get here. But your own mind was playing tricks on you. Planting seeds that should’ve never been dug.
He pressed further not seeing that he was beginning to push you past your breaking point. Further than even you would have expected from him. Your head was already coming down too hard on yourself. His words only seemed to dig that dagger in a little further that drove the final nail in the coffin of your confidence.
“What’s the problem then Lieutenant?” He stepped closer, challenging you. You weren’t in the right headspace for this. Not in the slightest.
You shook your head slowly, “I don’t know Mav.” Looking down at your boots you couldn’t bear to look up at his disappointed expression. You were just trying to hold back the tears at this point.
“You don’t know?” He sounded patronizing as if he was talking to a toddler.
“I…no.” Your voice was too shaky, so you stopped. Collect yourself. You could do this. You’ve done this hundreds of times before.
He must’ve not noticed the tears that were threatening to spill over as you looked up at him finally, “I can’t put somebody on a team who doesn't know what's going on. I need somebody who knows what they do wrong!" His voice grew from anger to frustration as he spoke. Yet he failed to see your utterly devastated gaze as he went on and on about things you had already known. Each word felt like a knife as he continued on, "You won't get a second chance on this mission. If you get shot down you're as good as dead."
Your heart ran cold, feeling as though it was shattering into a million pieces right then and there, “You don’t think I know that sir?” Your voice nearly broke as it wobbled through trying to finish the sentence.
He’d certainly noticed it then as his eyes finally found your tear stained cheeks. He usually knew how hard he could push. He could usually push you a whole lot harder, but he’d gone too far today. He knew when he heard that unusual waver in your voice.
He hadn't planned it but he knew he needed to back off, “It’s a bad day. It happens. Shake it off Birdie." The words come out of his mouth so fast he was sure you felt like you were getting whiplash from his hot and cold behavior. One moment he was nearly flirting with you then the next he scolding you.
He didn’t mean it. Not a bit of it. He didn’t even like being an asshole to Hangman, although it was fun sometimes. Being one to you made him feel awful. But he had to. He wasn't kidding when he said you didn't get second chances out there.
You shook your head, “I’ll do better tomorrow. I don’t know…”
He cut you off by placing a gentle hand on your shoulder. He hadn’t noticed how wound up about the day you had already been. He didn’t mean to push you further. He was just trying to be the instructor you needed to succeed on this mission that didn't have amazing outcomes.
This was the opposite of being tough on you though, “It’s fine Y/N. Go home. Read a book or watch some TV. Come back tomorrow. You’ll be just fine.”
You looked at his hand on his shoulder before looking at him, giving him a curt nod, “Sure. I’ll see you tomorrow.” You turned to walk away, brushing the tears away from your eyes.
Before you could walk through the locker room door you tuned back to him. After today you weren't sure if you even deserved the consideration,“You shouldn’t pick me.” You said so quiet you weren’t even sure if he heard it.
By the way he walked right over he must have. He grabbed your arm suddenly, not forcefully by any means, “Don’t say that. Why would you say that?” He genuinely felt awful for pushing too hard now. This didn't seem like you. You were headstrong. Stronger than even he seemed.
You looked down almost ashamed to admit it to him, “Because… because I’m not good enough sir. You saw me out there today. I'm as good as dead.” You were supposed to be the best of the best, but you hardly felt like it today. You were getting your ass handed to you left and right. Hangman was laying it on thick today too. He did that whenever he got the chance.
The day started bad when Rooster knocked you out almost immediately. And only got worse on subsequent runs. You were zero for four by the time you went up for the last round of the day. You got in your own damn head. It happened. It happened to everyone. You knew it. Still didn’t make it sting worse when you were on your thousandth pushup for the day.
He shook his head grabbing your hand quickly, “What are you talking about? You’re one of the best pilots I’ve ever worked with. You’re a fucking menace out there Y/N.”
You shook your head, “You’re just saying that because I’m about to cry.” You wanted to believe him. Maybe any other day you’d believe him. It was a no good, very bad day for you.
He only dropped his hand from your arm to bring it to your shoulder once again, giving it a gentle squeeze, “I’m not. I’m really not. Believe it or not.” He sighed collecting his thoughts once more, “I’m sorry. Really. I only come down hard on you because I know you can handle it. But I need you to not think like that. If you do get picked I need your head screwed all the way on. It’s not your run of the mill mission and you know that. You’ve got to be all the way there. All the way present. You hear me?”He asked.
You turned your head to look up to him, “Yeah. I hear you.” Your voice was much more you, more controlled.
He didn’t quite believe you though so he continued, “You are an exceptional pilot Y/N. The rest of the squad needs you to be. Bad days happen. Don’t let that asshole get to you.”
You smiled for the first time that day. It felt good talking with him. Actually, talking and not being afraid of him. A dramatic shift from that of moments ago, “You got it. Thanks Mav.” You wanted to thank him as a friend. Maybe a potential suitor. Not as a student. Not as a subordinate. But as a person.
He smiled for the first time that day as well. He had a long way yet to go with you, but it was a start. Something. He knew one thing that was sure. He was excited to get this damn mission over with. He didn’t want to be your superior anymore. He wanted to be your co-worker. The person you turned and laughed with whenever the most outrageous orders were given. He wanted to get there, was determined to get there.
“Sure thing, Y/N.” He let his hand fall, “See you at the Hard Deck tonight?” He asked curiously.
“You’re coming?” You’d seen him there the first night. You’d thought he was the most handsome thing in the bar. Hangman did not. Kept giving you shit for giving the ‘old man’ eyes. Whatever. You hadn’t seen him at the bar sense that night though. But he knew you guys went every Thursday. He listened.
“Maybe.”
You smiled once more, “You should. It’d be fun to see you kick Hangman’s ass in trivia.”
He laughed, a genuine one, one he hadn’t felt in quite some time, “How do you know I’m any good at trivia?”
You shrugged, “Have a feeling. Hope to see you tonight Pete.” The wink you sent him sent butterflies aflame throughout your body. Where in the hell did that confidence come from?
Pete legs went to jelly for a second as he watched you walk away. That you would. He was sure of it.

“Beckett Walker give me back my book!” 12 year old Ellorie shouts chasing her 4 year old little brother.
“Woah slow your roll little man!” Willow laughs as Beckett runs between her and the kitchen cabinet. Beckett laughs running past Elle as she runs into the kitchen.
“Ugh! Mom! Beck stole my book!”
“Okay okay, I’ll get him.” Willow sets down the bread in her hand and walks out to the living room. “Beck, honey, where’s your sister’s book?”
“I wanna read too, mama!” Beck jumps onto the couch, the book clutched tight in his hands.
“I know buddy but this is Elle’s book, if you ask nicely maybe she’ll read you one of your books.”
“Please Ellie!” He pleads, pulling the puppy dog eyes.
“Come on Beck. Let's go pick one out.” Elle sighs, guiding her brother to his room.
“You’re such a good big sister.” Willow laughs, going back to the kitchen.
“Only because I have too!” Willow chuckles at the comment, knowing Elle loves being a big sister. Willow returned to the kitchen, making the kids lunches for school when Jake walked out of the bedroom.
“Good morning Commander Seresin.” Jake smiles, kissing his wife.
“What's up with you?” Willow questions, putting the various items into the lunch pails.
“Can’t be excited to see my beautiful wife in the morning?”
“You can when you say ‘my beautiful wife’ but my rank? Somethings up Jake.” Willow turns around in Jake’s hold, his hands resting on the counter on either side of her.
“Okay okay. I got a call today.”
“And?”
“12 month deployment. We leave next week.” Jake sighs.
“Shit.” Willow drops her head to Jake’s shoulder. “A whole year?”
“I’ll find an excuse to not go? Maybe baby number 3?” Jake smirks, raising his brows at her.
“One, no more kids. Beck is the last one. Two, there’s no getting out of deployments, even with a pregnancy. Remember the mission a week before Beck was born?” Willow sighs, rubbing Jake’s shoulders.
The day Jake had to leave was almost as hard as when Willow found out Jake went missing. The pregnancy had been so much worse than Elle’s. Morning sickness lasted the whole nine months and Willow had at least 5 scares in the last 3 months and to top it all off, Jake was still overseas until Beck was 6 months old. He barely made it to a serviced area to be there over FaceTime.
“You gonna be okay?” Jake questions, holding her close.
“We’re always okay.” Willow smiles. “But ask me again when you call, I may be crying cause I miss you so much.”
“Hey, we’ll get through it. We always do.” Jake presses a kiss to her lips before stepping away. “But we have a whole week together. Beck! Elle! Let's go! We're gonna be late!”
“Coming!” Elle shouts.
“You wanna be on drop off duty today?” Willow asks, handing Jake the kids lunches.
“Of course darlin. See you at work.”
“Bye mama!” Elle runs by hugging her mom as she passes.
“Bye bye mama.” Willow squats to Becks level and he kisses her cheek.
“Such a gentleman.” She leads him outside, Beck insisting Willow walk outside first. “Be good for Daddy, little man.”
“Love you mama!” Both Elle and Beck shout as they climb into Jake’s truck, Beck with Jake’s assistance.
“See you on base darlin.” Jake kisses his wife again before climbing in and pulling out of the driveway.
Willow smiled, waving as the truck drove by, disappearing from her sight. She quickly heads back inside grabbing her things before climbing into her own car and heading to base.
Tumblr media
“Hey Vixen.”
“Hey Bradley. Leaving with the team next week for the deployment?” Willow unlocks her office and Bradley follows her in.
“No, I had some leave pre-approved. I’ll be in Virginia for about a month and a half.” Bradley tells her.
“Oh? Visiting old friends?” Willow questions.
“Actually wrapping up mom’s estate, I think I’ve put it off long enough.” Bradley tells her. “Which is why I’m here. I was wondering if you had enough vacation days to come with. With Jake gone, figured you could use the distraction.”
“I guess it would be nice to show the kids a bit of my childhood.” Willow laughs. “They literally live in Jake’s every Christmas.”
“Yes! Come on Vix! For old times sake!” Bradley pleads.
“Fine! But I’m not flying the kids out there.”
“I’d appreciate the company and the help.” Bradley smiles.
“I’ll put the request in. Wanna road trip with us?” Willow questions pulling the paperwork up on her computer. “Be kind of nice to stop by the ranch, let the kids see everyone.”
“Of course. I’ll get everything set up for the drive.” Bradley smiles. “I’ll meet you at your house after they ship out.”
“See you Bradley.” Willow calls as he heads out of her office. She pulls up the leave request, filing everything as needed. Hours had passed when suddenly there was a knock on her door.
“Commander Seresin?”
“Yes?” Willow looks up to see one of her students standing at her door. “Lieutenant Jones, what can I do for you?”
“With graduation on Saturday, I just wanted to thank you, Commander. I didn’t think I could do this when I got here. You made me see otherwise.”
“I’m glad you figured it out, Lieutenant. You wouldn’t have been brought here if you didn’t belong.” The pilot nods before turning to exit but is stopped by Willow. “Oh Lieutenant, if you see Lieutenant Commander Seresin on your way out, would you let him know I need to see him?”
“Yes Ma’am.” Willow smiles at the young man as he leaves the room. She finalizes her paperwork, printing off a copy of everything before emailing it to the necessary people. She receives an immediate response from Admiral Simpson approving the leave. The man was sending her husband overseas for a year, the least he could do was give her a decent vacation time.
“Hey Darlin, was walking over with lunch when a very nervous pilot said you needed to see me.” Jake chuckles, setting the sandwiches he brought onto her desk. “Pretty sure he thinks you sent him for me so we can have sexy time in your office.” Jake winks as he drags a chair around to the side of her desk.
“Never happening again. You got us caught by Mav, Rooster, and Warlock that day.” Willow raises a brow at him as she slides the leave papers across the desk to him before reaching for her sandwich.
“Leave? Darlin I’m gonna be on deployment I can’t vacation.” Jake sighs, sliding the papers away. Willow sighs, she takes a bite of her sandwich and slides the papers back towards him. She points at the name before picking up her sandwich again. “Why are you going on vacation?”
“Bradley has decided to finally pack up his mom’s house so I'm going to help him.” Willow answers.
“And the kids?”
“They’re coming with us.” Willow turns to her husband. “We're gonna drive through and stop in Texas. See your parents and sisters.”
“That’ll be good. Good distraction from it all.” Jake smiles at her. “I can’t believe I’m saying this but I’m glad you and Rooster are close.”
“Well we needed a godfather for our son.” Willow laughs.
“Don't remind me.” Willow could see Jake facepalming in his mind. “I'd rather have it be Coyote.”
“Regret demanding that he be Elle’s, don't ya?” Willow teases.
“I regret it everyday because you threatened to kick me out of the room. I was scared I was gonna miss it.” Jake retorts.
“Don’t piss off a pregnant woman. Definitely don't piss off one who had to give up a year of her career because you can’t pull out.” She glares.
“You win, I was an ass. I’m sorry darlin.” He leans close to her, his signature smile plastered on his face, puppy eyes in full effect or as Willow calls them the Seresin Pity Eyes since Jake, the kids, and Jake’s entire family could do it but her.
“Apology,” she kisses his waiting lips. “Not accepted.” She smirks, turning back to her food and ignoring the shocked look on his face.
“Puppy dog eyes always work on you!” He wines.
“No. They work when Beckett does them.”
“But Beck is literally just a mini version of me.” Jake drags the eyes back out. Willow looks at her husband. Every inch of Beck screamed Jake. Bright green eyes, shaggy blond hair, even the little southern twain he picked up from his father and sister.
“With my attitude. That's why he’s a mama’s boy.” Willow laughs. “Same way Elle looks like me but has your attitude. Plus she’s had you wrapped around her finger since the day you found out we were expecting. Daddy’s girl.”
“Bullshit they’re both daddy’s little angels and you know it.” Jake smiles. The kids love their dad, they really do. Whenever Willow had said no to anything they immediately went to Jake and all they had to do was whip out the puppy eyes and he was a goner.
“They love you. They're gonna miss you this year.”
“I hate leaving them.” Jake sighs. “I think we should bring them to the docs like we did when Elle was little. Let them say bye to everyone.”
“I think that's a great idea. Beck will definitely love it.” Willow smiles. “You leave Sunday right?” Her smile drops on the topic, bringing it up was honestly not how she planned to spend their lunch hour but she knew it was better to bring it up sooner rather than later.
“Yea, I was thinking we could get everyone together for a beach day on Saturday. One last hoo-rah with the kids?”
“Sounds like a great plan, I know they’ll love to get some time with you all before you leave.”
“I’ll let the team know.” Jake smiles at her. When she doesn’t return the smile, Jake knows she’s in her head. “Hey, you know I love you right?” Willow simply nods, focusing on the sandwich before her. “Darlin.” Jake reaches over to grab her hand. “I’m going to come home to you like always if that's what you’re worried about.”
“Its not that.” She glances up at him. “And you can’t say like always. You almost didn’t a few times.”
“I’m here aren't I?”
Willow gave him the look, the ‘don’t be a smartass with me’ look. “You’re just going to miss so much. First day of school, birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas, all of it. I don’t know if I can do that on my own.”
“Hey. You are the most badass person in the Navy by far. You are going to be able to handle this next year with grace and beauty as you do everything else.” Jake kisses her temple as he stands. “I gotta get back to my meetings. I love you. I’ll see you tonight.”
“Bye. Love you.” Willow replies softly. Jake sighs as he turns to leave.
His detachments were always rough. Willow and Jake have been leaving each other behind on and off their entire careers, it has always been difficult leaving. And it only got worse when Elle was born. Willow was called away less after Elle’s birth, part of that being Ice’s doing, but the more Jake got called away the more strained their relationship got. Willow felt so alone in the early years of their marriage that when she made a comment about divorce to Ice, Jake was on a plane home the next day. After months of counseling, leave time, and minimal communication, Jake and Willow had worked through their rough patch.
But then Jake got called out a week before Beck was born, and it almost set them back to where they were all those years ago. Jake knew this one would strain them again. He just hoped that this trip with Bradley would make it less so since she wouldn’t be alone.
Tumblr media
“Please don’t go daddy.” Beck cries as his small arms are wrapped tightly around Jake’s neck.
“I’ll be back before you know it, little man.” Jake holds his son, trying to soothe his little cries. “You’re gonna have so much fun with mama and sissy, even Uncle Rooster is gonna be there.” Jake internally groaned after he made the comment, still hating that his kids took to their “Uncle Rooster” too easily for his liking.
“Am I gonna see gramma and grampa too?” Beck sniffles, still not releasing his dad.
Jake chuckles softly. “Yea and Aunties and your cousins.” Jake pries his son’s arms away from his neck to look him in the eyes. “You’re gonna have so much fun, you won’t even know I’m gone.” Jake smiles at the little boy.
“I’ll know you’re gone.” He pouts. Jake stands from his crunched position, pulling Beck up into his arms.
“Yea, but all you gotta do is talk to mama and she’ll make you feel better. Isn’t that right, mama?” Jake asks as Willow comes over from saying her farewells to Phoenix, Bob, and Coyote.
“Absolutely.” She smiles while kissing her husband’s cheek. “Now give daddy a big hug.” Beck quickly relatches to his father.
“I’ll miss you, daddy.”
“I’m gonna miss you too, little man.” Jake holds Beck tightly. “Can you go to mama so I can hug your sister?”
Beck only nods softly, still crying as he’s passed into Willow’s arms. She whispers to him as she walks over to the rest of the pilots so he can say bye to them too.
Jake smiles at his wife and son before turning to his oldest who stands off to the side, alone. “Come here, pumpkin.” Elle's eyes fill with tears as she moves into her dad’s arms.
“I don’t like it when you leave.” She softly cries into her father’s chest.
“I know pumpkin. I don’t like leaving either.” He holds his daughter close.
“But you have to go.” Jake only nods at her words, wanting to hold his little girl just a little longer. He wouldn’t be able to say she’s his little girl come next year. She’s turning 13 next May, a teenager. Jake lets a few tears slip when he realizes what he’s missing. Beckett starts Kindergarten in 2 months. Elle graduates from 8th grade next year. And he’s going to miss Willow’s captain promotion come September that Cyclone had privately informed Jake about a month ago.
“I’ll be back before you know it.” Jake kisses her head softly before pulling back to look into her green eyes, identical to his own. “Look after your mama and brother okay?”
“I always do.” Elle smiles softly.
“That’s my girl.” He kisses her temple before tickling her sides softly. “Why don’t you help you brother say bye to everyone so I can talk to Mama.” Elle nods, giving her dad one more hug before she runs over to the large group of aviators surrounding the 4 year old.
“Hey handsome.” Willow smiles as she makes her way back to her husband.
“Darlin.” Jake smiles, pulling his wife in for a kiss.
“They’re gonna miss you.” She pulls back from the kiss to rest her head on his chest, she watches the majority of the dagger squad hugging her kids.
“I’ll miss them more.” Jake smiles softly. “But mostly you.” He holds her tightly until their superiors are giving the signal to leave. “I love you.”
“I love you too.” Willow looks up, kissing him one final time. “Come home safely.”
“Always darling.” Jake follows his friends towards the carrier as Elle and Beck come up beside their mom. Willow lifts Beck from the ground to hold her still crying son.
“It’s okay, little man. Look, daddy’s waving from the boat.” Beck looks up and waves back at Jake one final time before he disappears from their sight.
Tumblr media
“Grandma! Grandpa!”
“Oh there’s my precious grandbabies!” Jake’s mom pulls Elle and Beck into a massive hug before they pull away to hug their grandpa. “Hi sweetheart.” She turns to hug Willow.
“Hey Mama.” Willow smiles, hugging her mother in law. “This is Bradley, also called Rooster, my god-brother.”
“It's a pleasure to meet you, ma’am.”
“Please, just Mama. Everyone calls me that, no point in changing it now.” She chuckles. “Come on in! Nancy should be here any minute with the kids for dinner so the kids can see each other.”
“I see why the kids use Mama instead of mom or mommy.” Bradley laughs, following Mama, Willow falling instep with him.
“Good ol southern boy. That's Jake.” She laughs. “He actually started it, said he couldn’t imagine our kids calling me anything different.”
“How are you holding up?” Bradley questions.
“The same as I was when you asked me yesterday at my house. I miss him but I’m fine.” Willow groans.
“Auntie Willow!”
Willow turns at the call of her name, 18 year old twins Maddelyn and Gracelyn come barreling down the hallway. “My favorite nieces!” Willow tugs them both into a hug. “What are you two doing here? I thought you’d be off enjoying your last summer of freedom. Excited to start at UT?”
“Actually…” Grace starts and Maddie continues, finishing each other's thoughts.
“We start at the Naval Academy in August.”
“No way! That's so exciting!” Willow smiles at the girls. “Do you know what you wanna do when you graduate?”
“Aviation.” Maddie answers.
“Just like you and Uncle Jake.” Grace continues.
“Well I look forward to seeing Lieutenants Seresin in my Top Gun class in a few years.” Willow smiles. “I think Elle and Beck are in the backyard.”
“Race ya!” Grace shouts, sprinting to the backdoor. Willow laughs watching the girls run up to each other. Despite the seven year age gap, Elle saw Maddie and Grace as her older sisters and loved every opportunity to see them.
“I see the girls already beat me here.”
“Hey Nancy.” Willow turns to face her sister in law. “Yea twins are already outside with Elle. Hey Tommy Boy.” Willow ruffles the hair of her 6 year old nephew.
“Hi Auntie Willow. Where’s Uncle Jake?”
“He’s on a big boat for work.”
“But he promised more plane facts.” The boy pouts.
“You know, I brought someone with me.” Willow kneels down before the boy. “Tommy, this is Rooster. He’s a pilot like me and Uncle Jake.”
“Do you know about cool planes too?”
“Yea, in fact I know more than your Uncle Jake does.” Rooster answers, squatting down to Tommy’s level.
“But Uncle Jake knows everything!” Tommy defends, always quick to defend his favorite uncle.
“You’re right. Uncle Jake knows everything but I know beyond everything.”
“Oh yeah?”
“Oh yeah.”
“Why don’t you show Rooster where the living room is and ask him a million questions?” Willow suggests. Tom immediately grabs Bradley by the hand and drags him away from his mother and aunt.
“Hey Willow.”
“Hey Nance.” Willow wraps her sister-in-law in a tight hug. Of all of Jake’s sisters, Nancy was the closest to Willow. “Before you ask. I’m okay.”
“I wasn’t going to.” Nancy laughs, leading towards the kitchen.
“Bullshit.” Willow laughs.
Tumblr media
They had only spent one night on the ranch much to the kids' dismay before embarking on another two days' drive to Virginia Beach. Elle and Beck slept most of the way there, giving Willow and Rooster time to catch up as they switched off driving, talking, and sleeping. When they finally arrived at Bradley and Willow’s childhood home, both kids were fast asleep in the backseat.
“I’ll grab Beck and take the keys, can you grab Elle?” Willow asks, putting the truck into park. Bradley nods passing the house keys into her awaiting hand before moving to pull his niece from her seat.
Willow gently unbuckles Beck and pulls him into her arms. He stirs in her arms, and mutters something not even Willow understands. “Shhh, go back to sleep. It’s okay buddy.” The boy nods off as Willow unlocks the front door, Bradly just behind her with Elle in his arms.
“I’ll put Elle in Mav’s old room, Beck can have mine since it's across from your’s.”
Willow nods, “Where are you gonna sleep?”
“I’ll take the couch.”
“Nonsense, Bradley. At least sleep in your mom’s room.” Willow protests, stopping outside of Bradley’s bedroom. As Bradley sets Elle down on the bed in the room next door.
“I’d rather not go in there, Vix. Not yet at least.” Bradley answers, closing the door.
“Then take your room, Beck can just sleep in my room.”
“I probably won't sleep much, Vix.” Bradley pulls Beck from her. “Get some rest, I’ll keep an eye on the kids if they wake up.” Willow nods, opening her own bedroom door that sits identical to how it looked 27 years ago. “You guys never messed with my room?” She asks when she feels Bradley’s presence behind her.
“I was the only one here for a couple of years before I left for the academy.” Bradley smiles. “Get some rest, Vix.”
“Night Rooster.” Willow barely closes her door, leaving it open to where she can see across the hall to where Beck slept. Laying in her bed she can clearly note the lack of Jake’s scent, something she never spent more than a few days without.
Usually, one of Jake’s hoodies would be wrapped around her but the two she had brought were currently attached to her children, both of which had gravitated to sleeping in their father’s childhood bedroom when they were in Texas. She sighed as she wrapped herself in the blankets, pulling one of the pillows for her to hug in her sleep, soon drifting off.
Tumblr media
“Mama?” It wasn’t the question that woke her but the soft sniffles that pulled Willow from her sleep, immediately wanting to check on the child before her. Opening her eyes, she could see Beck standing to the side of the bed, tear streaks visible on his cheeks, proving along his sniffles that he had been crying.
“What’s wrong little man?” She can see his small frame drowning in Jake’s sweatshirt.
“I want daddy.” He lets out, barely over a whisper. “He didn’t come get me when I started crying.” That broke Willow’s heart. Anytime one of the kids cried in the middle of the night, Jake was quick to pull them from their beds and bring them in to sleep between him and Willow.
“You wanna sleep with me tonight?” Willow offers, pulling the blankets back. “I know its not the same without daddy.”
“Please mama?”
“Come here.” Beck scrambles up onto the bed tucking himself against Willow pleading for her to sing to him. She chuckles softly, blaming Jake’s habit of singing to Beck every night when she was pregnant. She sings softly, whatever song first came to mind, holding her son tightly to her as he falls back asleep. Jake’s scent radiates off the hoodie, pulling her to sleep as well.
Tumblr media
“Mama! Mama!” Willow is shaken from her sleep. “Uncle Rooster made pancakes!”
“Did he?” Willow yawns, tugging Beck back into the bed.
“Mama! Come on!” Beck giggles as she wraps her arms around him.
“Mama! Beck!” Elle walks into the room. “Uncle Rooster is threatening to eat all the pancakes.”
“Come here.” Willow calls over her daughter.
“He won’t let me eat without yo—!” Willow tugs Elle down next to her, holding both of the kids.
“No, we're having morning cuddles.” Willow laughs, tickling the kids' sides. “How’d you sleep, baby girl?”
“I’m not a baby anymore.”
“Mmm you’re still my baby.” Willow tugs Elle closer. “Always gonna be my baby girl even when you have your own.”
“Hey I thought I sent the munchkins to get you. Not go back to bed.” Bradley asks, stopping in the doorway.
“Mama holding us hostage Uncle Rooster!” Beck squeals as Willow tickles him again.
“Oh no! Uncle Rooster will save you!”
“Mama, no!” Beck squeals again when suddenly Elle joins in. “Ellie!”
“Oh Miss Elle getting in the middle.” Willow laughs, going after her daughter.
“Ahh Mama!”
Bradley takes the opportunity to pull Beck from the bed and over his shoulders. “Quick! Escape!” Bradley takes off running through the house.
“I don’t think so!” Willow jumps up to follow the boys before her phone starts ringing. “Elle can you hand me my phone?” Willow calms her breathing as Elle passes the phone.
“I’ll go get Beck settled for breakfast.”
“Thanks, sweetie.” Willow ruffles her hair as she answers the restricted number. “Commander Seresin.”
“Hey darlin.”
“Jake?”
“How was Texas?” Jake asks.
“It was good. Tommy was really sad that you weren’t there.”
“I’m gonna have to make that up when I get back.” Jake chuckles.
“How’s carrier life?”
“Missing you guys. How are the kids holding up?”
“Missing you. Beck was pretty upset that you didn’t come pick him up when he started crying.” Willow sighs. “He even had me sing him to sleep.”
“God I hate this.” Jake sighs. “Can I talk to them?”
“Yea. They’ll probably take the rest of your call so I love you.”
“I love you too, darlin.” Willow switches the phone to speaker phone and walks out to the dining room.
“Beck, Elle. I got a surprise. Say hi.” Willow says as she sets her phone on the table between the two.
“Hello?” Elle questions.
“Hey pumpkin.”
“Daddy!” Beck shouts, mouth full of pancakes. “Are you coming back?” Willow’s eyes water as she listens to their exchange. Bradley looks up from the stove to see her longing stare and quickly wraps up the pancake he’s working on.
“Vix.” He whispers. “Come here.” He leads her to her bedroom where he finally lets his volume rise. “You okay?” As if that question was finally the key, Willow lets out a sob and Bradley wraps her in a hug, “It’s okay, let it out.” He whispers over and over, waiting for her to slowly calm down.
“I miss him so much.” She sobs.
“I know, Vix.” Bradley sighs. “He’ll be home before you know it.”
“I want him home now.” She cries. “I can’t do this on my own.” She sobs.
“Maybe you should talk to Hang—“
“No!” Willow stops him. “He worries enough as it is when he’s gone. Especially after the amount of times we almost divorced over this. I tell Jake how I’m feeling he’ll retire. And we both know how much he wants to make admiral.”
“Vixen you have roughly 360 days until he comes home.” Bradley reasons. “You’re just going to sit in silence and pretend everything is okay?”
“No. I’m just not gonna tell Jake. Or the kids.” Willow replies. “If he finds out, he’ll come home. He’ll even steal a jet if he had to.”
“Do you at least have someone you can talk to?”
“I have you.” She shrugs, already acting like she didn’t just lose it over a single phone call.
“A professional Vix. You need someone who can help you work through this.”
“I’m fine, Rooster. This isn’t my first rodeo.” Willow turns around, takes a deep breath and then moves back into the main part of the house. “Hey. Dad have to go?” She asks, seeing her children silently eating.
“Yea.” Elle responds.
“But Daddy said he’d call next week!” Beck smiles.
“Remember Beck, he may not get to talk next week. We just gotta wait.” Elle reminds her younger brother. Willow offers a small smile to her daughter, knowing the amount of times Elle got let down cause Jake couldn’t keep a phone call date or would call after bedtime, just barely missing her. “Oh mama, you got a missed call here.” Elle hands her mom her phone.
Willow eyes the voicemail, recognizing the local number before hitting play.
“Good morning, this is Admiral Parker Smith. I’m trying to reach Commander Willow Seresin. If you can give me a call back at…” Willow was barely listening as the Admiral rattled off the contact info.
She dials in the callback number, reading it from the voicemail transcript.
“Admiral Smith.”
“Good morning Admiral Smith. This is Commander Seresin returning your call.”
“Commander, perfect timing. I heard you were in Virginia Beach.”
“I am. Was there something you needed me for?” Willow replies.
“We're sending out a team on an urgent mission next week from Oceana and we need a team leader.” Admiral Smith reports. “Now I read the Uranium Mission file, you headed that squadron did you not?”
“I did.”
“Wonderful! I have papers here for you Commander. You’ll be leading this mission.”
“Sir, I’m here on vacation with my children. Their father just left for a year-long deployment.” Willow protests.
“I’m sorry Commander but you’re exactly what we need for this task. If we had another option we’d take it.” Willow sighs, she glances over at Bradley who’s playing with Elle and Beck as they clean up breakfast.
“How soon do you need me to report?” She asks.
“Tomorrow.”

Top Gun OCs pt. 3
Lt. Dane "Bone Saw" Bradshaw
Tumblr media
Dane Bradshaw grew up in the shadow of his older brother Bradley, who was a natural when it came to flying. Their father, Nick "Goose" Bradshaw, was a legendary pilot and a close friend of Maverick from the original Top Gun class. Unfortunately, Dane never got the chance to meet his father, as Goose tragically lost his life in a flight accident before Dane was even born.
Growing up, Dane always admired his brother's talent and passion for flying. He would listen intently as Bradley recounted stories about their father's heroics in the cockpit, and dreamt of one day following in their footsteps. Despite being separated by a significant age gap, Bradley always made an effort to include Dane in his life, sharing his love for aviation and teaching him everything he knew.
As Dane got older, he discovered that he had his own unique talents. While he didn't possess the same natural flying abilities as Bradley, he developed exceptional technical skills and a deep understanding of aircraft mechanics. Dane's passion for aviation grew stronger with each passing day, and he became determined to contribute to the world of aviation in his own way.
After finishing high school, Dane enrolled in a prestigious aviation engineering program, where he honed his skills and deepened his knowledge of aircraft systems. He excelled in his studies, earning top marks and gaining recognition for his innovative ideas and problem-solving abilities. Dane's dedication and expertise caught the attention of the Navy, and they offered him an opportunity to join the Top Gun program as an aviation engineer.
Although Dane initially had reservations about pursuing a career behind the scenes rather than in the cockpit, he realized that his skills could make a significant impact on the safety and performance of the aircraft. He accepted the offer, knowing that he would be able to contribute to the legacy his father and brother had left behind.
As Dane stepped onto the hallowed grounds of Top Gun, he felt a mix of excitement and nervousness. He knew that he had big shoes to fill, but he was determined to honor his family's legacy and prove himself worthy. With his technical expertise and unwavering dedication, Dane became an integral part of the Top Gun team, ensuring that every aircraft was in optimal condition for the pilots.
Dane's journey at Top Gun was not without challenges, as he constantly battled with feelings of inadequacy compared to his brother's flying skills. However, he learned to embrace his own unique talents and realized that every role within the aviation industry was important for the success of a mission.
Throughout his time at Top Gun, Dane formed deep friendships with his fellow pilots and engineers. He became known for his unwavering support, always ready to lend a helping hand or provide technical guidance. Dane's determination, resilience, and commitment to excellence made him a valuable asset to the Top Gun program, and he played a crucial role in ensuring the safety and success of every mission.
Dane Bradshaw is a driven and determined individual who possesses a strong work ethic and a deep passion for aviation. He is known for his meticulous attention to detail and his unwavering commitment to excellence in his work. Dane's technical expertise and problem-solving skills make him an invaluable asset to the Top Gun program, as he ensures that every aircraft is in optimal condition.
Despite not having the same natural flying abilities as his brother Bradley, Dane has never let that discourage him. He is resilient and tenacious, always eager to learn and improve. Dane understands the importance of his role as an aviation engineer and takes pride in the fact that he can contribute to the safety and performance of the aircraft.
Dane's relationship with his brother Bradley is a unique blend of admiration, support, and sibling rivalry. Growing up, Dane idolized Bradley and looked up to him as a role model. He would listen intently to Bradley's stories about their father, Goose, and dreamt of one day following in their footsteps. Bradley, in turn, recognized Dane's passion for aviation and did his best to include him in his world, fostering a strong bond between the two.
While their age gap initially created a bit of a barrier, as Dane was too young to fully engage in the same activities as Bradley, they found common ground through their shared love for aviation. Bradley served as a mentor to Dane, teaching him everything he knew about flying and instilling in him a sense of discipline and dedication.
However, as Dane grew older, he also developed a sense of healthy competition with his brother. He often felt overshadowed by Bradley's natural talent and the legacy of their father, but instead of letting it discourage him, Dane used it as fuel to push himself further. He strived to prove his own worth and carve out his own path within the aviation world.
Despite the occasional rivalry, Dane and Bradley share a deep bond of brotherly love and support. They have each other's backs, cheering each other on in their respective roles. Bradley recognizes Dane's unique talents and often seeks out his input and expertise when it comes to aircraft mechanics and engineering.
Their relationship is characterized by mutual respect and admiration. Dane looks up to Bradley as a source of inspiration, and Bradley sees Dane as a constant reminder of their father's legacy. They push each other to be the best versions of themselves and find solace in the fact that they are continuing the Bradshaw family's aviation heritage together.
Dane's call sign, "Bone Saw," is a nickname given to him during his time at Top Gun. The origin of the call sign stems from a combination of his expertise in aircraft mechanics and his determined, relentless nature.
The name "Bone Saw" reflects Dane's technical prowess and his ability to dissect and analyze complex aircraft systems with precision, similar to how a surgeon uses a bone saw in a surgical procedure. Just as a bone saw is a tool used to carefully and skillfully navigate through intricate structures, Dane has a knack for unraveling the inner workings of aircraft, identifying issues, and providing effective solutions.
Moreover, the call sign also symbolizes Dane's relentless work ethic and his unwavering commitment to excellence. Like a bone saw that cuts through obstacles and challenges, Dane approaches his work with a tenacious and determined mindset. He will go to great lengths to ensure that every aircraft under his care is in optimal condition, leaving no stone unturned in his pursuit of perfection.
The call sign "Bone Saw" not only represents Dane's technical expertise but also serves as a reminder of his resilience and dedication. It showcases his ability to navigate through complex situations and his unwavering determination to overcome any obstacle that comes his way.
Overall, "Bone Saw" is a fitting, some would say call sign for Dane, for his technical expertise, relentless work ethic, and his ability to dissect and solve intricate problems within the aviation world.
And lastly, let's talk about Dane's strengths and weaknesses.
Strengths:
1. Technical Expertise: Dane possesses exceptional technical skills and a deep understanding of aircraft mechanics. His expertise allows him to analyze complex systems, identify issues, and provide effective solutions. He is meticulous and detail-oriented in his work, ensuring that every aircraft is in optimal condition.
2. Problem-Solving Abilities: Dane has a natural aptitude for problem-solving. 4. Team Player: Dane understands the importance of collaboration and teamwork. He works well with others, fostering positive relationships and effective communication within the team. Dane is always ready to support his fellow pilots and engineers, offering assistance and guidance whenever needed.
Weaknesses:
1. Self-Doubt: Due to being compared to his brother Bradley and their father's legacy, Dane sometimes struggles with feelings of self-doubt. He may question his own abilities and feel overshadowed by others' natural talents. However, Dane has learned to embrace his unique skills and remind himself of the value he brings to the team.
2. Impatience: Dane's drive for perfection can sometimes lead to impatience. He may become frustrated if things don't progress as quickly as he would like or if he encounters obstacles along the way. Dane is learning to manage his impatience and strike a balance between striving for excellence and understanding the necessary time and effort required for success.
3. Lack of Flying Skills: While Dane has a deep passion for aviation, he doesn't possess the same natural flying abilities as his brother Bradley. This can occasionally create a sense of inadequacy or a feeling of being left out. However, Dane has come to embrace his role as an aviation engineer and recognizes the importance of his contributions to the team.
4. Perfectionism: Dane's pursuit of perfection can sometimes lead to an excessive focus on details, potentially causing him to overlook the bigger picture. He is learning to balance his meticulousness with the ability to prioritize and make efficient decisions.
Though, despite these weaknesses, Dane's strengths far outweigh them. His technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, work ethic, and dedication make him an invaluable asset to the team. Dane continuously learns and grows, using his weaknesses as opportunities for improvement and personal development.

From the moment he could walk, Austin was fascinated by airplanes. His room was adorned with model planes and posters of fighter jets, and he would spend hours studying flight manuals and watching aviation documentaries. He absorbed everything he could about the world of aviation, fueled by his father's stories and experiences.
As Austin grew older, he became determined to prove himself as a pilot. He excelled academically, earning a scholarship to the prestigious United States Naval Academy. While there, he immersed himself in the study of aeronautical engineering and honed his physical and mental capabilities, preparing himself for the challenges that lay ahead.
During his time at the academy, Austin's competitive spirit and natural talent quickly became evident. He consistently stood out among his peers, impressing his superiors with his exceptional flying skills and unwavering dedication. It was clear that he had inherited his father's innate ability and love for flying.
Upon graduation, Austin was accepted into the Navy's elite fighter pilot program. He underwent rigorous training, pushing himself to the limits both physically and mentally. He proved himself time and again, mastering complex maneuvers and demonstrating a natural instinct for aerial combat.
As Austin's training progressed, he found himself constantly striving to live up to the legacy of his father, Pete "Maverick" Mitchell. While he admired his father's achievements, he was determined to forge his own path and create a name for himself in the aviation world.
Despite his academic intelligence and exceptional flying skills, Austin Mitchell possesses a charmingly clumsy and awkward side to his personality. While he may be a bit of a "dummy" when it comes to real-life situations, he more than makes up for it with his determination and infectious enthusiasm.
Austin has a tendency to find himself in comical mishaps and awkward moments. Whether it's tripping over his own feet, accidentally spilling coffee on himself, or fumbling with simple tasks, he has a knack for finding himself in humorous situations. However, he never lets these moments define him or bring him down. Instead, he embraces them with a light-hearted laugh and a self-deprecating sense of humor.
Despite his occasional clumsiness, Austin's genuine warmth and enthusiasm endear him to those around him. He has a knack for making people feel at ease, often using humor to diffuse tense situations or lift the spirits of his fellow pilots. His infectious laughter and positive attitude have a way of brightening even the most challenging moments.
In social situations, Austin can sometimes come across as a bit awkward. He may stumble over his words or find it difficult to strike up conversations, especially with people he admires or finds intimidating. However, his genuine nature shines through, and people quickly realize that beneath the awkwardness lies a kind-hearted and well-intentioned individual.
Austin's ability to laugh at himself and not take life too seriously makes him a relatable and approachable person. He doesn't let his occasional clumsiness define him or hold him back. Instead, he uses it as a reminder to embrace life's imperfections and find joy in the journey.
Though, overall, Austin Mitchell is a smart, talented, and determined individual with a charmingly clumsy and awkward side. His enthusiasm for flying and his unwavering dedication to proving himself create a unique combination that endears him to those around him.
Austin's relationship with his older sister, Jenny Penelope Mitcell AKA JenPen, is one characterized by a deep bond and mutual support. Despite their different paths in life, they share a strong connection that goes beyond their sibling status.
Jenny, being the older sister, has always been a source of guidance and inspiration for Austin. She has been there to provide wisdom, encouragement, and a listening ear whenever he needed it. From a young age, Austin has looked up to his sister, admiring her strength, intelligence, and determination.
Jenny, in turn, has always been a protective and nurturing figure in Austin's life. She has taken on a role of both sister and mentor, offering guidance and advice as he navigates his own path as a pilot. She understands the challenges and pressures that come with their family legacy, and she has been a pillar of support for Austin, helping him navigate through both the triumphs and the setbacks.
Their relationship is marked by a playful camaraderie as well. They have shared countless inside jokes, playful banter, and lighthearted teasing. Austin often finds solace in his sister's presence, knowing that she will always be there to lift his spirits and bring a sense of levity to any situation.
While they may have their differences, Austin and Jenny share a common love for aviation, inherited from their father. They bond over their shared passion, often swapping stories and experiences from their respective journeys. Whether it's discussing flight maneuvers or sharing the thrill of their latest accomplishments, their love for flying connects them on a deeper level.
Austin and Jenny have a close and supportive relationship. They are each other's confidants, cheerleaders, and partners in crime. Through the ups and downs of their individual paths, they can always count on each other for unwavering support, understanding, and a shared sense of family pride.
Austin's call sign, "Chaos," is a reflection of his charmingly clumsy and unpredictable nature. While some call signs are chosen to reflect a pilot's skills or demeanor, Austin's call sign was given to him by his fellow pilots as a light-hearted acknowledgement of his tendency to bring a bit of chaos into their lives.
Despite his exceptional flying skills and determination, Austin's clumsiness and occasional mishaps have become somewhat of a running joke among his peers. Whether it's accidentally triggering an alarm during a training exercise or causing a minor disruption during briefings, Austin has a knack for unintentionally creating moments of chaos.
However, his call sign is not meant to be derogatory or demeaning. Rather, it is a playful and affectionate way for his fellow pilots to embrace his unique personality. They recognize that while Austin may bring a bit of chaos into their lives, he also brings joy, laughter, and a refreshing sense of authenticity.
Austin has embraced his call sign with good humor and a sense of self-awareness. He understands that it is a reflection of his endearing quirks and the genuine connections he has forged with his fellow pilots. Rather than being embarrassed or discouraged by it, he wears his call sign proudly, embracing the chaos and adding his own touch of humor to any situation.
In the end, "Chaos" serves as a reminder that life doesn't always go according to plan, and it's okay to embrace the unexpected. Austin Mitchell's call sign reflects his ability to find humor and joy in the midst of chaos, and his fellow pilots appreciate him for it.

Hazel can come across as grouchy at times, especially when she is focused on a task or dealing with frustrating situations. She is not one to sugarcoat her opinions or hide her frustrations. However, this grouchy demeanor is often a result of her high standards and a desire for excellence. She expects the best from herself and those around her, and she can become easily annoyed when things fall short of her expectations.
Despite her fiery and sometimes challenging personality, Hazel possesses a fiercely loyal and protective nature. She cares deeply for her fellow pilots and will go to great lengths to ensure their safety and success. Her loyalty extends beyond her squadron, as she fights for equality and fairness within the military.
Hazel's personality is a complex blend of feistiness, sass, toughness, darkness, grouchiness, and sarcasm. While she may have a sharp tongue and a tough exterior, beneath it all, she is driven by a strong sense of duty, a desire for excellence, and a commitment to making a difference.
Hazel Quinn and Tom Kazansky, AKA Iceman, have an intriguing relationship that starts off as rivals but gradually evolves into something more.
From the moment they meet, Hazel and Tom have a natural competitive dynamic. They are both exceptionally skilled pilots who constantly push each other to be better. Tom, with his cool and composed demeanor, tends to tease and annoy Hazel, often trying to get under her skin. Hazel, being feisty and quick-witted, is always ready with a comeback or a witty comment to match his provocations.
Their banter and constant back-and-forth create a playful tension between them. Their competitive nature fuels their drive to outperform each other, and they often find themselves vying for the top spot in training exercises and missions. Each success or failure only intensifies their rivalry, pushing them to work harder and prove themselves to one another.
However, beneath the surface of their rivalry, there is a mutual respect and admiration that grows over time. As they witness each other's skills and determination, they begin to recognize the depth of their abilities and the passion they share for flying. This mutual respect becomes the foundation for a deeper connection between them.
As their relationship progresses, Hazel and Tom start to see past their competitive façades. They discover common ground and shared experiences that create a bond beyond their rivalry. They become allies and confidants, understanding the unique challenges they face as top pilots in a male-dominated field.
Their banter and playful teasing gradually evolve into a deeper understanding and affection. The witty comments and comebacks become laced with a genuine fondness and care for one another. They develop a level of trust and reliance, knowing that they can count on each other in the most critical moments.
The transition from rivals to lovers is marked by moments of vulnerability and growth. They learn to let their guards down and show their true selves, allowing their relationship to blossom into something more profound. Their shared experiences and deep connection become the foundation for a passionate romance that transcends their initial rivalry.
In summary, Hazel and Tom's relationship begins as rivals, with Tom teasing and annoying Hazel, and Hazel responding with her trademark wit. However, their rivalry gradually transforms into mutual respect and admiration, leading to a deep connection and a passionate romance. Their journey from rivals to lovers is marked by growth, vulnerability, and a shared love for flying and each other.
Hazel's call sign, Daredevil, is a reflection of her fearless and daring nature in the skies.
Throughout her training and career, Hazel has consistently demonstrated a willingness to take risks and push the limits of her abilities. She thrives on the adrenaline rush that comes from pushing her aircraft to its maximum potential, often engaging in daring maneuvers that leave others in awe.
Hazel's fearlessness is not just limited to her flying skills. She approaches challenges head-on, unafraid to tackle difficult situations or confront obstacles with determination and courage. Her willingness to take calculated risks sets her apart from her peers and earns her the admiration of those who fly alongside her.
The call sign Daredevil also speaks to Hazel's ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations. Even when faced with intense combat scenarios or dangerous missions, she maintains a level-headedness that allows her to make split-second decisions and take decisive action. Her ability to stay cool under fire further solidifies her reputation as a daredevil in the skies.
Additionally, the call sign Daredevil captures Hazel's audacious and rebellious spirit. She is not one to conform to traditional norms or be limited by societal expectations. Instead, she embraces her own unique style and approach, often challenging the status quo and pushing boundaries. Her refusal to be bound by convention makes her a true daredevil, both in the air and in life.
So her call sign, Daredevil, represents her fearless, daring, and audacious nature. It reflects her willingness to take risks, her ability to remain composed under pressure, and her rebellious spirit that sets her apart from the crowd.
And again, lastly, we get to the strengths and weaknesses part.
Strengths:
1. Exceptional Flying Skills: Hazel possesses exceptional flying skills, making her a standout pilot. Her natural talent, combined with her extensive training and experience, allows her to excel in the skies.
2. Determination and Perseverance: Hazel is known for her unwavering determination and perseverance. She is not one to give up easily and will go to great lengths to achieve her goals. This determination drives her to overcome obstacles and push herself to new heights.
3. Quick Wit and Sharp Tongue: Hazel has a quick wit and a sharp tongue, allowing her to deliver clever comebacks and sarcastic remarks. Her wit often helps her diffuse tense situations and adds a touch of humor to her interactions.
4. Fearlessness and Daring Nature: Hazel is fearless and daring, always willing to take calculated risks and push the limits of her abilities. Her audacious approach to flying and life sets her apart from others and earns her the nickname "Daredevil."
5. Leadership Skills: Hazel possesses strong leadership skills, making her a respected figure among her peers. She has the ability to inspire and motivate others, leading by example and fostering a sense of camaraderie within her squadron.
Weaknesses:
1. Stubbornness: Hazel can be stubborn at times, often refusing to back down from her opinions or change her course of action. While her determination is a strength, her stubbornness can sometimes hinder her ability to adapt to new situations or consider alternative perspectives.
2. Guarded and Introspective: Hazel carries a certain darkness and guardedness within her. While this adds depth to her character, it can also make it challenging for others to get close to her. She tends to keep her emotions and vulnerabilities hidden, which can create barriers in her relationships.
3. Impatience: Hazel can be impatient, especially when she feels that others are not performing up to her standards or when things are moving too slowly. Her impatience can sometimes lead to frustration and a lack of understanding for others who may have different approaches or learning curves.
4. Difficulty Trusting Others: Due to her past experiences and the competitive nature of her profession, Hazel finds it challenging to trust others fully. This can create barriers in her relationships and make it difficult for her to rely on others for support.
5. Tendency to Take Risks: While Hazel's fearlessness and daring nature are strengths, they can also be considered a weakness. Her willingness to take risks, although calculated, can sometimes lead to dangerous situations or unnecessary challenges.
Overall, Hazel Quinn's strengths lie in her exceptional flying skills, determination, quick wit, fearlessness, and leadership abilities. However, her weaknesses include stubbornness, guardedness, impatience, difficulty trusting others, and a tendency to take risks. These strengths and weaknesses contribute to her complex and compelling character.
Back with another set of Top Gun OCs! Yes, they're all quite long and I've spent a lot of time on them, so I'd really appreciate your comments and reblogs! ♥️
(also now I'm going by my new system of making OCs as you can see hehe)

Friends Don't || Chapter 1
Tumblr media
Summary: Bob Floyd has been your best friend for almost a decade, ever since he quietly agreed to tutor you in college. The two of you have spent years chasing each other around the globe – Bob as a WSO, you as a travel blogger. You’ve always been the anywhere-but-here girl, and he’s been your rock. But when a surprise diagnosis threatens to crumble your picture-perfect life, you’re on the first flight back to San Diego, desperate to put down roots for the first time. Will Bob finally have it in him to admit that you could be the love of his life? What will he say when he finds out the secret you’ve been skillfully hiding from him? Or worse, what if he doesn’t find out until it’s too late?
Pairing: Robert “Bob” Floyd x OC [Reid]
Tropes: Friends to lovers
Warnings: Cursing
WC: 2.5K
Series masterlist here; next chapter here
“Reid?”
“Shh, go back to sleep,” you muttered as you slid into the bed, pressing the cold tops of your feet against his warm calves.
“How was the date?” he asked.
You opened up one eye. He had his head smashed against the pillow, blue eyes zeroed in on you. “Awful,” you whispered. “Couldn’t get out of there fast enough.”
"That bad, huh?"
"He picked up his steak with his hands and bit into it."
Bob chuckled softly, gently jostling the queen-sized mattress. “I’m sorry, that's pretty bad.”
You groaned, nuzzling into his side. “Bobby. Am I ever going to find someone?”
He placed his hand on your cheek, so light it was barely a whisper. “Of course you will. You're everyone's dream girl.”
“You promise?” you murmured, sleep already starting to weigh you down.
Bob’s fingers threaded softly through your hair. “Yeah, darlin’, I promise.”
Present
“Bobby?”
“Reid?” There was wind whipping on the other end of the phone line, so loud you could barely hear him. “Sorry, I’m on deck.”
You smiled, leaning back against the ratty couch. “It’s good to hear your voice,” you said.
On the other end, Bob smiled. “You too, darlin’. Now what’s going on?”
“A girl can’t just call her best friend to say hi? Especially when said best friend is on his way home from a deadly mission.”
“They’re all deadly,” Bob said carefully and you heard the pain in his voice. It was the pain that was always there now, ever since he lost her. “And you can. Of course you can.” He paused. “But I also know you. And you sound like you have something specific you want to talk about.”
He knew you too well. It struck a sense of fear, deep in your gut. You couldn’t tell him. Not yet. Not everything. “I, um, I got a new job.”
“Really?”
You nodded, even though he couldn’t see you, and placed one foot on the taped cardboard box at your feet.
“Reid?” You could hear the confusion in his low, rumbling voice. “Darlin', you gotta speak up, can barely hear you over the waves. Weather is really bad out here today.”
“I’m moving to San Diego,” you said loudly. “I’ll see you in two days.”
Bob paused. Then, “For real?”
You smiled. “Yeah, Bobby, for real this time.”
Bob let out an excited laugh. “That’s great, Sunny.” Your skin flushed at the nickname. “Key is under the mat, like always.” You loved that he just assumed — correctly — that your plan was to live with him in his second bedroom. It went without saying. That’s how it had always been with Bob. Easy.
Well, most of the time.
This wouldn’t be like all the other times. This wouldn’t be easy.
“I’ll see you on Saturday.”
“See you on Saturday, Sunny.”
***
Bob could still pinpoint the exact moment he first laid eyes on you. Sophomore year. Intro to psychology.
You were perched on the edge of a desk, long tanned legs swinging, the back of your heeled sandals occasionally hitting the leg of the desk, as you chatted with another girl in the class.
Bob watched as you tipped your head back in an open-mouthed laugh, golden waves spilling down your back.
He couldn’t take his eyes off of you during class. The way you tapped your pen against your red lips and the way you furiously scribbled in a notebook when everyone else was typing on laptops and the look of concentration on your face as the professor flicked through slides.
So it was the shock of a lifetime when three weeks into the semester, Bob was packing up his Jansport backpack and he saw your red nails enter his peripheral as you waved at him.
“Hi!” you said with a smile.
Bob looked up, fingers almost trembling as he tried to zip his backpack shut. He looked around, confused. “Me?” he asked.
You giggled. “Yeah. Hi, I’m Reid.”
“Um, I’m Bob,” he said, sticking out his hand.
You looked at it dubiously and then shook it. “So, your presentation was great,” you said softly.
“Thank you.” He was nervous. You could tell by the way his eyes kept darting down instead of meeting your own. You were nervous, too. You didn’t like asking for help. It didn’t come naturally. But your faculty advisor had said you needed to pass this course to stay on track for your degree. And Bob had seemed like the nicest person to ask. “I know this sounds weird,” you replied. “But what are the chances you would be willing to tutor me? Or be study partners.”
“What?”
You cleared your throat. “I need to pass this class,” you confessed. “And you did so well on the presentation I was thinking that maybe you could help me.” The confused, blank look on Bob’s face made you shake your head. “Fuck, OK, this was a dumb idea. You know what? Nevermind. Pretend I didn’t say anything.” As you turned to walk away, Bob’s hand shot out, gripping your wrist. You looked down. His hands were large, strong, with protruding veins. When you looked up, you noticed perhaps for the first time how attractive he was, in a nerdy, kind sort of way. The small mouth and gentle smile, the warm eyes behind a pair of wire glasses. “I’ll tutor you,” he said after a moment.
“Really?”
Bob nodded and you were so elated that you tossed your arms around his neck, hugging him close. Bob stood with his hands outstretched, afraid to touch you. When you pulled back, his face was in a state of shock.
You chuckled. “Here.” You ripped off a corner piece of your spiral notebook page and scribbled your number on it. “Text me?”
Bob gripped the scrap of paper between his thumb and index finger and watched as you left the room, tossing a wave over your shoulder with a brilliant smile.
Bob’s hand trembled as he slid the piece of paper into his pocket. Somehow, he knew. You had walked into his life that day and changed everything.
***
You sat at the bar Bob had told you to meet him at, wearing a short pink dress with a small ruffled hem. It was tight across the top and you knew your chest was on display, but in a flirty way, not a scandalous way. You looked good and you knew it.
For some reason, you always tried to look good for Bob. Even though he had seen you in vomit-covered t-shirts during college and he had been the one to drive you to the emergency room with a 104 degree temperature that time you visited him in Pensacola and even if you spent ninety percent of your trip to the Almalfi coast together with no makeup on and your hair pulled back into a slicked bun, you still always made an effort for the reunion. There was something important about feeling your best the moment Bob’s eyes locked on yours after a deployment. You would wait months just to see the way his blue eyes sparkled as he took you in for the first time after a separation, the giddy smile on his handsome face as he swept you into his arms.
It made the reunion special.
You looked good. So that’s why you weren’t surprised when a blond slid onto the barstool next to you, leaning one tanned arm on the wooden bar. “Hey beautiful,” he said softly. “Let me get you a second drink.”
You rolled your eyes and swiveled toward him, tanned legs crossing over each other, one heeled ankle brushing over his calf. “I’m good.”
He looked you up and down. He was beautiful, in an obvious way. Taunt golden skin, bright green eyes, a Colgate-sponsored smile. “You sure about that, baby?” he asked. “Anything you like, on me.”
You shook your head. “Like I said, I’m good. I’m waiting for someone.”
He leaned closer. “Someone better than me?”
You smirked.
Then, “Sunny.”
You whipped around, practically launching yourself off of the stool and into Bob’s arms. He held you tightly, his warm, strong arms gripping your waist, one hand threaded into the base of your hair. He smelled the same, like jet fuel and oranges and a hint of spicy cologne, and you sunk into his familiar embrace. For a second, everything else faded away and it was just you in Bob's arms.
And then reality set back in. After a moment, you pulled away, only a few inches, running one hand over his soft cheek.
“What took you so long?” you murmured. “This jackass tried to get me into bed, and I actually thought about it for a second.” You hooked a finger toward the blond at the bar behind you.
Bob chortled and let you go. The two of you looked over at the blond, who looked like his eyes were going to fall out. He was practically stuttering in silence.
“Floyd?” he asked carefully after a moment. “What the fuck?”
Bob shook his head. “I see you met Sunny.”
“Sunny?”
“Reid Coleman,” you said, holding out a hand. The blond took it, pumping your hand slowly, hesitantly. His face was twisted in confusion.
“Jake Seresin,” he said, squinting. He turned his gaze back to Bob. “You can call me Hangman. Floyd, is this your girlfriend?” There was a disbelief threaded through his words.
The two of you laughed. You reached out, interlacing your fingers with Bob’s. The tips of his ears blushed pink. “No,” you answered for him. Then you gave Jake a look of disdain. “I’m still out of your league, though.”
“But you’re in Floyd’s?” he asked, aghast.
You chuckled. “Honey, I couldn’t get Bobby if I tried.”
“Sunny,” Bob whispered, low and gravely, a warning, and you flashed him a brilliant smile.
“I’m Bobby’s new roommate,” you replied.
Hangman raised an eyebrow. “Is that so?” He turned to Bob. “You gonna introduce her to the team, Floyd?”
You both turned to Bob expectantly. He fiddled with his large hands. “Bobby?” you asked.
He leaned in close to your ear. “They’re going to ask questions,” he whispered. “About us. Just hope you know that.”
You tipped your head to the side. “Nothing to hide,” you smiled. “Right?”
Bob gazed at you. “Right,” he repeated softly.
Hangman looked between the two of you and frowned. He didn’t care what words were coming out of your mouths, he knew there was something more beneath the surface that neither of you was ready to admit. He also knew you were ten times hotter than any girl he had ever seen Bob speak to, and he was still partially in shock that you were here with Floyd.
You followed Bob and Jake to the back of the bar near the pool table. Hangman immediately went and whispered in the ear of a tall guy with incredible cheekbones who turned his gaze on you with a smirk.
Bob tapped a massive guy in a hideous Hawaiian shirt, startling him. “Rooster?”
“Little busy here, Bob,” Rooster said, tapping his pool cue and sinking a striped ball into the back left pocket. He looked up, registering you standing there, and immediately dropped the cue. “Fuck, OK, you have my attention.”
You shook your head with a small smile. Bob cleared his throat. “Um, guys, someone I want you to meet. Rooster, this is Reid, my best friend from college.”
Rooster stepped forward, slotting his huge hand into yours with a grin. “Bradley,” he said. “Or you can call me Rooster, whatever you prefer.”
You smiled. “Chicken man,” you said. “Rooster it is.”
He laughed. Bob pointed to the man next to him, who stepped forward with a smile. “And this is Fanboy.” You shook his head. “And Payback.” Another handshake. “That’s Coyote.” The tall cheekbones guy that Hangman had rushed over to stepped forward and shook your hand with a smirk. “And this is Phoenix.”
Your eyes locked on the female aviator, her dark hair pulled back into a slick bun, and you rushed forward, pulling her into an embrace. Natasha was shocked, winding her thin arms around you with hesitation.
You pulled back and laughed. “Sorry,” you whispered. “I’ve just heard a lot about you from Bobby.” You looked back at him, and then turned to face Phoenix. “You keep him safe every day. Makes you a hero in my book.”
You watched Phoenix’s eyes glisten as you dropped your hands from her forearms, stepping back. Bob pressed one large hand to your low back and you grinned, threading your arm around his waist, squeezing him gently.
Phoenix smiled.
“I’ve heard a lot about you,” she said softly. “Floyd here can’t stop talking about you.”
You looked up at Bob who blushed. “Is that so?”
He shook his head. “Phoenix, stop giving her a big head,” he muttered. “Don’t give her an excuse to be even more cocky.”
You nudged his hip with yours and Bob smirked.
Phoenix locked eyes with you. “It’s really nice to meet you, Reid.”
The corner was quiet for a moment until you looked up at Rooster. “Alright, next round on me.”
There were cheers and you hooked your finger at Bradley, silently asking him to come with you to help carry the drinks. He followed you to the bar, placing his forearms on the smooth wood, looking over at you. “So, Reid, how long are you in town for?”
“Moved here today,” you said. “I’m staying with Bobby for now.”
“What do you do?”
“I was a travel writer,” you said, flagging down the waitress and ordering a long island iced tea, while Bradley ordered for the rest of the team. “But I’m starting a new job as a content specialist with a firm here.”
He nodded. “Why the switch?”
You fiddled with the cocktail napkin on the bar. “Just needed a change, I guess.”
Bradley grinned, leaning a little closer, his enormous bicep flexing at his side. “So you and Bob?”
“Just friends.”
“Are you, uh, involved?” he asked after a moment.
You smiled. “No, not right now.” The truth was, you hadn’t been in a long-term relationship in almost three years. It just didn’t suit your lifestyle.
At least, that’s what you always told yourself.
You leaned one elbow onto the bar. “Why do you ask, Chicken? You hitting on me or something?”
Bradley smiled. “If you were Bob’s girl, I wouldn’t dream of it. But it sounds like you’re not.”
You glanced over to the left where Bob was standing with Natasha, laughing softly at something she said. There was a sense of relief, just being in the same room as him. Knowing he was safe and alive and on dry land. Knowing he wasn’t in the skies. Then you turned back to Bradley. “I’m his,” you said quietly. “Not in the way you’d think, not in any kind of tangible way. But I’m his if that makes any sense.”
Bradley nodded, scooping up the collection of beer bottles the bartender had set down in front of the two of you. “Makes all the sense in the world.”
A/N: A bit of a slower start, but I am excited about these two! This is my first Bob series ☺️

Welcome to our lives, princess | Top Gun Maverick Fic 🧸
Top Gun AU series ✈️
Setting: After Top Gun, Pre-Top Gun Maverick
Summary: Pete Mitchell and his friends Tom Kazansky and Audrey Davidson didn’t expect in 1987 to be greeted warmly with a knock on his door at 4 in the morning by a social worker carrying a small bundle of joy and paperwork. In her arms, held the one and only daughter of Maverick Mitchell.
Tumblr media
The night was dead silent, having just arrived the last 24 hours before from a 4 week long deployment. The statement of the household wasn’t nothing grand but it was home, no one cared. Tom was dead asleep soundly in his bedroom, when the barking sound of the doorbell woke it him up. He wasn’t sure it was their drunk friends or some idiot freshman playing ding dong ditch on them again, either way he rolled out of bed slipping on a navy blue t-shirt and headed downstairs.
The moment he opened the door, he was greeted by a middle aged woman wearing glasses and a pencil skirt, with a very tight ponytail. She was holding a dark gray carrier but Tom wasn’t given a chance to full process the image in front of him. “Are you Mr. Peter Mitchell?” She asked, fixing her weight.
Tom furrowed his eyebrows and blinked a few times, “I’m sorry, who are you ma’am?”
“I’m Linda Colins. A social worker for California state, are you Mr. Mitchell, sir?”
“Ah um, no he’s upstairs asleep. He’s my roommate. I’ll get him for you.”
Tom lead the woman into the living room, watching her put the dark gray carrier carefully on coffee table. Once she did so, due to the fact of better lighting from the lamps, Tom was able to finally get a better view of the image in front of him. Inside the carrier held a small baby girl with some dark brown hair sticking up nicely and her skin was a light palette of oli tones. It matched his wingman perfectly, that was Pete’s daughter. He knew he had to call Audrey as soon as possible but first he had to get this gorgeous little girl’s daddy.
Iceman ran upstairs into Pete’s bedroom, quietly but quickly. He seemed so peaceful in his sleep, when Maverick wasn’t being chaotically charming, he was simply darling. Iceman rubbed his shoulder and whisper, “Mav, buddy wake up.” No response only a annoyed groan from his wingman, Iceman rolled his eyes and shock him again saying, “Maverick wake up. You can sleep later!”
Finally Pete Mitchell shot up from his bed grunting from being waken up at 4 in the god damn morning. He sent a sleepily glare to Ice and whisper yelling, “What the hell, Kazansky?!”
“You’ll see. Oh, before we go downstairs remember, your my great friend and I’ll love you all the same doesn’t matter your decision.”
“Okay? You’re being honest and weirdly confusing at the same time.”
Maverick followed his friend downstairs in utter confusion and still pissed off for being waken up this early in the morning. He rubbed his eyes a couple of time until he reached the living room, seeing the sight in front of him. The middle aged woman and the baby girl in the carrier. Pete Mitchell was spooked. He was speechless, he couldn’t speak, only listen to the lady speaking.
“Are you Pete Mitchell?” Said the social worker, holding a file.
Tom answered for him, “Yes he is.”
“Good. I’m going to cut to the chase, you are this little girl’s father. Can you confirm or deny this?”
“Who’s the mother?” Asked Tom once again, his eyes stayed on his friend who’s eyes were trained on the little girl in the carrier.
“Melissa Oxford.”
Pete snapped from his gazed taking a sharp breath and spoke, “Lissa? I um..yeah we met and dated a while back, nothing serious, i went to see her again months before deployment..she was gone, moved back to Indiana to get a job in her home town…or that’s at least what the neighbors told me…”
—-
Truth be told, Maverick wasn’t sure what happened to the woman, but he cared about the ladies he would spent time with even if it was only for a few weeks. Truly his heart belonged to Penny Benjamin but he knew he sadly couldn’t have her, due her father not liking him very much and the life that he tried his hardest lived. Iceman can see the gears and sadness pooling in his friends eyes, knowing he would’ve liked to know sooner and at a better time that his child existed.
The social worker, Linda, spoke again, “Yeah she was pregnant at the time and gave birth to your daughter. Sadly she died due to complications after the birth but said that if anyone deserved to take care of the kid, it should be her father.”
“And?” Pete asked, since he knew there was always a catch to theses things.
“She told the nurses, for me to tell you, that if you don’t want her she can be put up for adoption.”
Pete was frozen hearing all of this and trying to take in all it, he hasn’t even held his daughter yet but he’s being given all of theses information. It made him feel sick, he moved out of the spot he was placed in, moving over to the coffee table. He heard the social worker, Linda, speaking once again but he ignored her as Iceman decided to have a conversation with the woman instead. Tom wanted to give Maverick a clear solid moment with his daughter for himself.
Once Pete reached the coffee table, he pulled back the cover that mostly tried to shield the baby’s face from the light. Peeling over the straps that held the carrier together, he was finally able to take her in. He was met with a half sleep baby girl who yawn as her eyes fluttered gently as if trying to greet her daddy. Maverick can see the similarities between them.
Her color palette of soft oil skin, curled little nose that remind him of his baby pictures, and tucks of curly dark hair that sticked up ever so sweetly. Mostly her eyes said it all, they were a light shade of green that would grow to match his dark green ones. Maverick gently reached forward using the back of his pointing finger to gently and ever so softly run across her round cubby cheeks. Pete smiled as tears slowly appeared, he knew that this was his daughter, pride and joy. His little princess.
“..hi, baby girl. I’m your daddy..” Pete said, carefully taking her out of the carrier realizing that she must’ve been only 4-5 months at least, or he could be wrong. He heard her slight whimpers that soon hushed down once she safely curled in his arms. Her tiny face nuzzled into the crook of his shirt, near his neck as Maverick coo, “..aww sweetheart. I’m right here..don’t worry.”
It was a new kind of love that Maverick felt at the moment, he knew he would get disagreements from his friends about raising her but he didn’t care at the time. He fluttered small kisses onto her forehead and he could’ve swore he saw a tiny smile. He glances at a open file next to the carrier and the only thing that popped out was her last name. ‘Mitchell’ . Pete looked down at her and whispered, “You don’t got a first name, do you? That’s not right, sweetheart.”
He thought for a moment, trying to think of a few classic names for this little girl in his arms. His thoughts were interrupted when Tom came back in the room, taking a seat behind him, his eyes were trained on his friend and new found niece. It was the most adorable sight Iceman has ever seen in the years he’s seen Maverick. Yeah sure he seen Mav and little Bradley Bradshaw together but this was completely different from that. He rest his hand on his shoulder, leaning in to see the baby’s face. She was simply gorgeous.
“Hi princess, I’m your uncle Ice..” Tom said with a smile on his face, “..what we gonna name you?…you like a Penelope or a Nicole.”
Pete chuckled, shifting his quiet little girl who softly babbled in his arms. Mav thought for a moment, “…maybe Jennifer..Jenny?”
“Jenny? I like Penelope and Nicole better.”
“Jennifer P. Mitchell.”
Iceman smiled letting out a small joke, “I like it. But if you have another little girl who appears on our doorstep tomorrow, we’re naming her Nicole.”
“I doubt it, Ice. She’s the only baby girl in the world for this Naval family. Isn’t that right, Princess Jenny?” Maverick smiled, lifting her up as he stayed kissing her cubby cheek.
“She’s got you wrapped around your finger, Mav.”
“Just wait until you hold her, then she’ll be wrapped around your finger too.”
Later on the Linda returned from the kitchen after letting the roommate have a moment with the child, Maverick agreed signing the paperwork with Iceman who agreed to be this little girl’s uncle automatically. Linda Colins left both men with a baby bag and returned home at 5:45am.
Iceman and Maverick stayed up for an extra hour feeding, changing her diaper and putting sleep. Neither one of them really slept that night, taking in all the information and making room for the new attention to the house. Appears that baby Jen was a night owl, because the girl was a tricky one to get to sleep until Ice took it upon himself to sing a lullaby while Maverick took a small nap.
By the morning, 11:25am, the guys called up Slider, Carole and Audrey to tell them about the news. Slider decided to visit later that week, Carole was busy out of town with Bradley, meanwhile Audrey skipped work shortly after hearing the news and drive pasting a few red lights to the Kazansky-Mitchell household. She knocked on the door unable to believe the news until she saw it herself, believing it was kinda prank or that they stole a baby.
Audrey forgot she got keys to this house and once the door open her jaw dropped, having to pick it off the floor. A shocked chuckle escaped her lips at the sight of Iceman burping a adorable baby girl who babbled happily as if she was the princess of sun. The baby girl glowed a breathtaking smile and soft giggle utter under her breath, like she was speaking to Tom.
Maverick come out of the bathroom drying his hands after peeling on a clean burgundy t-shirt while wearing a pair of gray sweatpants smiling, “Hey Mama!”
Audrey snapped out of her trancelike state shaking her head and smiled sheepishly. “Hey—hi! So it’s true, huh? You didn’t steal her?” Audrey said, with a sunny smile taking a step over to her friends watching Maverick take the baby girl out from Ice’s arms.
“Nope. She’s mine and her name is Jenny. Jen, sweetheart, this is your Auntie Sunny! She will try to keep you out of a trouble when your toddler years arrive soon.”
“She’s adorable. Definitely your daughter, she has your eyes, c-can i?”
Maverick was more than happy, he gently set the baby in her auntie’s arms with such joy. Once the shock wiped away from her body, the love and laughter reached Sunset quicker than she imagined, little Jennifer Mitchell shined like the morning skies and babbled softly in her arms. She bounced her a bit as a small laughter escaped from Jenny’s body loving the attention and pure joy surrounding her. The baby girl was comfortable in all 3 of the adults arms, even she only spend half a day with them.
Maverick pulled out his camera snapping a couple of pictures of his daughter and her auntie, a few pictures were already taken of the small family. Pete Mitchell was already planning on buying a baby book this weekend and possibly tricky Slider into giving them a huge baby shower for they don’t have to buy too many stuff. To say Pete Maverick Mitchell was overwhelmed and overjoyed with this new found journey of fatherhood was something he couldn’t describe, especially knowing he had Audrey and Tom there every step of the way.
