Earth's human population have disappeared since the alien invasion. A group of girls hide at a warehouse where they squabble against each other on what to do to survive until a group of children found them to seek shelter, thinking they are soldiers.

While the girls are reluctant to help as they themselves are clueless and helpless, the leader agreed and pretended to be the soldier the children think they are as they began training themselves and building their own mecha to protect the children.

I spent almost 10 hours without electricity so I started watching Ultraman (I'm not going to tell you which one because I'm embarrassed).

But it reminded me of one of the things I love about the Ultraman saga. And that's the connection the Ultras have with their humans. You see, the Ultras are the race where Ultraman comes from, they are literally beings of light, their planet is exposed to the sun directly, from the light they get their powers and keep them alive. What happens when they come to earth is that they don't have enough light to exist for long so they are forced sometimes to join forces with a human. It creates a relationship where the ultra lives inside the human and can talk to them, exchange bodies sometimes, and most of all, share life. Everything that happens to the human is experienced and felt by the ultra. They create a relationship in which both are different but equal at the same time, they are synchronized to be one being that shares consciousness with another. This happens both in fights and in normal moments. In both they share life It is one of the most beautiful relationships that can be built between an alien and a human. So much so that sometimes humans decide to leave their life on earth and go with their ultras, because after all they can't give up that part of themselves.

Thinking about the relationship that ultras have with their humans brings tears to my eyes because it is so beautiful.

Vice Captain Kaizaki's given name is Sawa, right? Well, I just realized that's also the name of her character in Ultraman Saga, which is a very cute reference that doesn't need to mean anything more than that, but, well, Saga was ALSO a successor to Dyna? So now I'm just wondering if any other AKB graduates are going to cameo, like if Akimoto shows up as a character named Anna, I will lose my mind.

Not because I want the narrative to be about Saga, really, I don't, but the idea that in another universe Team U went on to have entirely different lives because their world didn't end appeals to my "in another time, in another place" sensibilities.
