So, cool thing! You posted a gifset here: (https://www.tumblr.com/vault21/736322447736012800) and tagged it with Padmé, right? Which is totally reasonable and I probably would have done it too! Well, I just started reading Queen's Shadow by E.K. Johnston a few days ago, and between that and the quote on the gifset, I know: this isn't Padmé! OP purposefully picked specific instances of Sabé, her handmaid body double! Anyway, I'm not asking you to change it or anything, just wanted to share a Cool Star Wars Fact! 💕

what is your fix-it for the tunnellers ending? 👀 mine has always just been “nope. they just don’t leave the divide. ever.” lol

(sorry i didnt see this before!)  Mostly I envisioned people in the Mojave repelling the invasion themselves. A few sinkholes might open up around settlements but pretty soon afterwards folks would be laying down hard stone or concrete wherever possible to make it difficult for them to surface in new towns. 

Since the tunnellers seem to avoid light it follows that they are weak when exposed to it, and can’t survive in the daylight at all, that makes them only a threat wherever people can’t put up lights. Most towns and settlements would probably adapt quickly to this and with some organization the tunnellers would probably be kept away pretty easily. On top of these measures, hunters could whittle their numbers away until they weren’t much of a threat anymore. 

Basically I see a few years of people having to deal with the tunneller problem before things go more or less back to normal and the memory of them fades into an urban legend. Afterwards, nobody ventures much into caves anymore.
