I love reading, literature makes me feel like there’s hope, y’a know?
But god, sometimes these books I simply just cannot read.
Like Frankenstein, 1818 text. It made me fucking want to die.
I understand, it’s from 1818, but also it fucking blows. I don’t like how Victor fucking talks, or how pretentious he is.
Anyway, I’m reading a book rn and it feels *just like frankentstein*
The narrator over-explains, talks in circles, and they just keep talking until their not even monologuing about the original topic.

Frankenstein is the kind of novel where neither the hero and villian come out as wholly good people in the end. I tend to sympathize with the creature the most because a lot of the problems he faces are a direct result of Victor creating him and then abandoning him. However, the one time I really dislike the creature is when he kills Victor’s little brother frames Justine.
Of course, murdering a kid just to hurt Victor is pretty messed up on its’ own. But it’s the creature’s justification for framing Justine isn’t just a matter of him covering his tracks. He explicitly says he framed her because he thinks she is pretty and is angry because he assumes he can’t have her because of his scary appearance. Justine’s only crimes are being pretty and being loosely connected to the Frankentstein family.

Frankenstein Characters as John Mulaney Quotes
Victor: You have the moral backbone of a chocolate eclair
The Creature: Sometimes people would say “what do you think you’re doing?” But that just meant stop. They didn’t actually wanna know my thought process.
Elizabeth: You could pour soup in my lap, and I’d probably apologize to you.
Henry Clerval: I have had a very long day. I am very small, and I have no money. So you can imagine the kind of stress I’m under.
Justine: No! In fact we’re gonna frame you for murder!
Captain Robert Walton: You know those days when you’re like this might as well happen?
Alphonse Frankenstein: I try to stay optimistic, although I must admit things are getting pretty sticky.
Caroline Frankentstein: You know who’s a great lady? Your mother.
The Delaceys: There’s a group of French assholes slowly taking over America.

*reading a play adaptation of Frankenstein where Victor is a woman*
Me: *sees “Victoria” be a badass scientist, have a complex and redefined relationship with the Creature, and ultimately get a much better ending than the original Frankentstein* YES
Also Me: *upon seeing that, since Victoria is a woman in this version, Elizabeth is engaged to Clerval instead* make it GAY YOU COWARDS
