Fresco detail of a woman seen from the back. She carries a rope in her hands. I am not sure what is on her shoulders... folded wings maybe?
Edit: Dragonfly wings :)

Third style fresco + details.
Central scene features a seated woman reading (?) with a small serving girl behind her; two cherubim embracing; and a seated, bearded male figure, wearing a theatrical mask indicating that he’s a slave.

Intricate fresco details including birds and a human figure.
It appears that some of these have been deliberately defaced at some point.

I don’t often say it, but some photos hit harder than others, and this is one of them.
It can be incredibly sad to see the damage done to frescoes historically; sometimes because of deliberate defacement, but more often by early excavators who had little respect for the less-showy artworks; and who, in their attempts to remove work - for their own profit, or for museums/patrons - did irreparable damage.
There was once a profile image of a woman in this medallion, and to judge by the fineness of the work that remains, it would have been stunning; but instead, she is lost to us.
