This is from a couple of days ago chatting with @keelime-xiv about Whiskey and Keelah. I was joking about how their dynamic reminded me a lot Izumi and Sig Curtis. They provided a link to the video and I couldn’t help but laugh because of how the reactions of Edward and Alphonse seemed to line up with @thefoulvol ‘s Vol and @belovedwaltz ‘s Trash Rat. Kee also did doodles to make this the most blessed thing ever.

A New Arrival...

Rocks skittered down the cliffside, oddly loud in her senses, that and the harsh breath that turned into a scream as she fell. That was the moment it all changed. Looking back in shock, betrayal a knife twist in her gut, or maybe that was the vertigo, meeting his eyes for a moment, scarlet ringed in gold as his mouth twisted to a smile, and then he disappeared from sight behind the rocky cliff edge and she accepted that this was the end. 

But we were always friends… ever since that day. The day you lost your eye and I found my courage.

The wind stole her breath as it whistled past and her heartbeat was audible. But if by some blessing of Azim or Nhaama she survived… Chagur Tumet would pay for this...

That was years ago now that she'd made that oath to herself. And it had been a long, hard recovery… But Isekha was not one to be defeated by a coward's act after losing a fair fight, now less even than then. She shifted her grip on the spear and peered around the busy port city, surprised at how many of their people milled through the streets. This Eorzea truly was a place of great diversity unlike anything she'd ever seen.

The hum of Eorzean, a language she still hadn't entirely mastered, washed over her in a flood of strangeness as if to drive home that she was the stranger here. But if Chagur could do it… she grinned, teeth bared like a gedan and eyes fixed forward. 

She still wasn't sure exactly what her plan was for her long awaited revenge. No handy cliffsides here to teach him the terror of plummeting. 

Of the pain of the broken shell being gathered up only to have your saviors realize you weren't dead after all. The waves of blackness and bleary awareness of time passing while being trapped in that useless husk while bones and skin and scales knit back together. Of having to learn again what it was to be a warrior of the steppes, a proud member of the Tumet. Ise had died on that day… but Isekha had fought through the days, months, years… the fire of vengeance warming her when she felt she could not go on. And now, finally...

It would be her turn to smile soon.

⭐️ - Should they meet, Velvet would admire Hel’s devotion to Ala Mhigo, despite the fact that Helisent has, ironically, struggled with a lack of connection with her homeland. Velvet herself would barely be able to put a name to where she considers her home to be, much less fight for any specific one. As is her wont, she would not share this with Helisent.

⭐️ - Shining Comet is the only Family member who knows that Manceaux Cinderfall has slept in the manse’s chocobo stables more times than Vol Silgol, due to her being the one who always personally throws his sobbing, drunken ass into the stable to sober up.

Two Headcanons About Aubin

Aubin is physically frail due to mistreatment of his body and lacking sleep. Sometimes this results in intense irritability and being incredibly, rudely short with others.

Aubin's scar was gained after his elder brother pushed him out of a tree when they were young children. Aubin seems to have never quite forgiven this, as much as he loves his brother dearly still.

Moyera Thorne- his protege and assistant. While he acts stern and forbidding towards her publically- and oftentimes privately- she has the benefit of his being completely honest with her as nobody else has. Moreover, she's caught him at being sweeter than he would like to let on to being.

Martin Freepaw- a being of mystery and much respect. Martin has placed their aetherical balancing in Aubin's hands, a confidence that Aubin is determined not to betray. Martin gave him a chance to be at least somewhat respectable when few others would.

I took my time going through this expansion’s Main Story, which has honestly been the best expansion I’ve ever played, story-wise. I just smacked it to level 80 and am in the last stretch of it!!! Don’t tell anyone I immediately spent the last 2 hours glamouring around the level 80 NIN top. It’s so good. When I saw it in a leak early on I SCREAMED.
