Many of you have probably heard about a lot of Our Flag Means Death Props being sold off at auction. Several crew-mates have made some excellent points as to why not to panic yet. I saw a tweet somewhere and now of COURSE I can't find it, but just a reminder, props are not the SET itself. The Set not being sold off is a huge plus, props come and go.

Hey my darlings. As you can tell, today has been a very VERY long day. There is just SO MUCH going on. I don't know about you but it feels like something's building. Maybe it's just til OFMD's 2rd anniversary on Sunday the 3rd, idk, but i've got a good feeling.

Either way though, whatever that hype is, it's so nice to see everyone having fun and engaging so much. You are all so wonderful and deserve to smile and enjoy yourselves.

You are allowed to be loud and excited about things! In fact, please be! It makes us all excited too, and I love "seeing" you smile and in your element.

Aaah thanks for thinking about me and liking my fanart of the show!! But I do think artists should be compensated for their work, specially if they're going to be used commercially for podcast promotion. It's a bummer they expect submissions for them to choose from without any intentions of paying the artists.

Hi, I love your blog and the space you've created on here; I'm basically a long time follower, first time asker. I know this is a silly place to ask for advice on things such as this: but I have a hard time around the holidays due to my family circumstances. This year in particular has been more difficult and lonely than the years before, and I feel especially isolated. Do you have any words of wisdom or activities you'd recommend? Even shows/books/movies that may take my mind off things for the rest of the year? Thank you so much!

hi babes, I'm glad you feel this is a safe space but I am sorry about the circumstances. the holidays aren't an easy time, nor are the long winter months and short hours of daylight. the sun has been setting before four-thirty where I am! i'm not particularly wise, and I don't want to say anything trite or patronizing -- but I understand what its like to feel isolated. or even when you're surrounded by dozens of people, & you still feel alone.

I know everyone suggests it, but weather depending try and find a woods you know/love and go for a walk. look for animal tracks in the snow or mud, listen to the chirping of birds. look at the towering trees that have been there for decades before us, and may be there for decades after -- slumbering giants that provide us w the air we breathe. if you don't want to be left with your thoughts, listen to an audiobook or a new album or a podcast. if your town is doing a new years celebration and you feel comfortable enough, join them. go to a museum or cafe. do something you like. bc while other people will not be there with you, they are there for the same reason you are -- you all share a common interest/joy.

as for recommendations, I listen to a lot of radio! KEXP seattle is my favorite independent station, and every few hours the DJ and genre change. I've been listening to the black tapes (a spooky and fictional podcast full of mystery). the yeah yeah yeahs came out with a new album this year, or take a listen to the black pumas (one of my current favorite bands).

for tv and film I usually stick to comedy in the winter so here is a few off the top of my head: BBC ghosts, the umbrella academy, what we do in the shadows tv or movie (the spinoff wellington paranormal is easy watching as well), psych, sex lives of college girls, resident alien & people of earth for scifi. buffy or angel. futurama. teenage bounty hunters. if you like reality my favorite guilty pleasure show is below deck. I am a sucker for anything 90s/80s/early 2000s (the goonies, ferris beuller, men in black, back to the future, but i'm a cheerleader, saved!, the lost boys, freaky Friday, a knights tale). also a little known secret -- I love rom coms, like 13 going on 30 or how to lose a guy in 10 days or crazy rich asians or not another teen movie

Rhys being kinda obsessed with cryptids and the Jemaine making a show (wellington paranormal) about the paranormal and there are stories that Rhys brings up in his cryptid podcast that clearly have an influence on the (whether it was because it was in Rhys' podcast or just because they found it while looking for paranormal stuff doesn't matter, it's the fact that the interests align enough for you to have to have that question) writing and then Jemaine putting Rhys in the episode for when they go and look for Bigfoot type cryptid is something that can be so personal.

The more I look into all their stuff the more I'm like 🥺🥺🥺🥺. They are all precious friends. Like super precious you do not understand. Like whether they do it on purpose or not doesn't even matter cause it's like, they do it on purpose or they just happen to like the same things, it's great.

last movie you watched: i mean last night me and Brian binged the entirety of Blood of Zeus on netflix if that counts; otherwise i cannot recall. a Godzilla movie? Brian's been really into Godzilla lately

currently watching: we are very slowly getting through The Fall Of The House of Usher, because i cannot do more than one episode at a time and some days i can't do one. it's good so far but it's very gross. i have to look away sometimes bc it's gory

other things you’ve watched this year: lotta werewolf movies. Silver Bullet comes to mind, and i recently rewatched the remake of The Wolfman w/ Benicio Del Toro & Anthony Hopkins. Brian also started us on My Hero Academia one day a few months ago because he was curious and i didn't expect to care about it but i ended up loving Toshinori/All Might so much. also a lot of Star Wars tv shows. like a shitload. The Last Voyage of the Demeter which was amazing. Wellington Paranormal. Sandman Netflix (i wish there was more of Cain and Abel). that new Willow series (fuck disney for putting the kibosh on it). Good Omens. Some random film about a cruise ship being hijacked solely because Temuera Morrison was in it.

currently reading: a graphic novelization of the adventure zone podcast because i cannot finish a podcast if my life depends on it and Brian kept telling me i'd like it. it's cute af so far, about halfway through. it's a set of three books and i'm on the second. also uhh i just remembered now that i started a star wars novel and didn't finish it gotta pick that back up again soon. up next i'm dipping into the gorgon by tanith lee (collection of dark fantasy short stories).

currently listening to: recently went through another metal phase and so i was listening to a lot of The Hu, Megadeth, Metallica, Dio, Iron Maiden & Tenacious D, but now i'm swinging back around to the usual clusterfuck of genres including folk music (mostly but not exclusively english language), 60s folk revival & folk rock, oldies, motown, 60s girl groups, 1970s japanese folk music, (a lot of folk music ok!), a smattering of 80s pop, and specifically a lot of Warren Zevon and Roy Orbison/Traveling Wilburys
