"Commander, I'd like to conduct a meeting right now regarding the mission this time around, however... Is right now a good time for you?" Captain of Strike Hawk. An Armored-type Structure. Although he could use all types of weapons, he prefers to use the scythe. He joined under the Gray Raven for the sake of carrying out the special mission. He always does everything to his optimum abilities, leaving the best results.

He is equipped with the Structure-specialized Inverse Device, which allows him to lead Strike Hawk without the need for a human commander. He meticulously prepares numerous emergency plans before the mission starts so that everyone in Strike Hawk would safely return.

Because Strike Hawk distributes each member to a scouting team, Chrome has a stable, exclusive communication line. Since it's shared by all of the members, they could easily exchange their location and status with one another with clarity on their voice signal.

His original consciousness is "Langston." He originally had aimed to become a commander but had lost his qualifications due to an accident. He voluntarily applied for Structurization and he now serves as the captain of Strike Hawk.

He was subjected to the outrage of those around him back when he was newly Structurized. Though Chrome himself admits that someone influential has been supporting him, because of how outstanding his abilities are, those criticisms had died down.

Chrome constantly seeks to himself the best standard—he would think of what the highest priority of things around him are and silently solve the problem.

Rumors and Secrets

Secret 1 He is well-versed in every weapon there is.

Secret 2 Whenever everyone in Strike Hawk is on a mission, Chrome's go-to weapon is a scythe—his reason is that it's useful in catching his team members.

Secret 3 He is in charge of regulating and cleaning everything on Strike Hawk's base.

Secret 4 Because he takes every word sincerely, Chrome is gullible.

Secret 5 In order to introduce the latest technology, he installed the prototypes under testing throughout his model.

Secret 6 He has yet to lose against the members of Strike Hawk when they have one-on-one practice training. There, however, was only one time he tied against a male member of the unit.[1]

Secret 7 Whenever practice training starts, although he does contemplate if he should go easy on his opponents, he unconsciously gets serious when sparring begins.

Secret 8 He is busy running around every place, cleaning up the troubles the other members have caused.

Secret 9 He already has his communication device on hand, even if he isn't in transmission with anybody. By doing so, it allows him to coordinate his thoughts and give out directives depending on the situation.

Secret 10 Thinks that personal appearance is as important—more than fixing his own hairstyle, Chrome also focuses on adjusting his own unit member's appearance. He had sewn many pockets on Kamui's clothes, who frequently keeps losing stuff.

Secret 11 To deepen his relationship with his team members, Chrome hosted a slumber party at the suggestion of Wanshi.

Secret 12 He had fixed the Gray Raven's collar out of reflex[2]. After he noticed it was impolite of him, aside from wholeheartedly apologizing, Chrome also prepared an apology gift as well.

The other party in question is assumed to be Wanshi.

Here’s a life skill they really should teach in school: how to read and understand an insurance policy.

After all, there’s no point in getting top exam scores and getting corralled into a high paying job… only to lose that hard-earned cash to a lousy insurance policy because you didn’t know what you were getting.

Whether you bombed the PSLE or still look back fondly on your “glory days” decades later, it’s never too late to upgrade your knowledge. I promise it will be less boring than doing those mole calculations in chemistry or, worse, social studies propaganda.

Without further ado, here’s a 101 guide to understanding insurance policies.

List of insurance policy documents

For shorter-term policies, like car insurance or home insurance, you might not receive any documents other than your application details and your policy.

But if you sign up for a longer-term policy like life insurance or hospitalization insurance, you’ll typically receive some or all of the below insurance policy documents:

While it’s tempting to pretend these documents don’t exist, it’s in your best interests to go through them so you know what you’re purchasing.

Glossary of common insurance terms

Insurance policies might look like gibberish at first glance, but fear not, once you get used to a few commonly-used terms, you’ll find that they’re always harping on about the same few things.

Before you start reading, take a look at the terms you are likely to come across.

Benefit — The incidents and circumstances you are being protected against. If they take place, you will receive a payout from the insurer. For instance, if your plan includes benefits for hospitalization, you will receive (an) insurance payout(s) if you get hospitalized.

Cash value — Amount of money that is accumulated over time by hybrid life insurance policies like whole life insurance, endowment plans and investment-linked insurance. You will receive the cash value of your policy when the date scheduled for payout arrives, or when you surrender your policy.

Claim — A claim is made by you to obtain the coverage provided by the insurance policy. For instance, if you buy travel insurance for a trip and then your flight gets cancelled with no refund, you can make a claim for the cost of your air tickets.

Co-insurance — Percentage of your bill that you must cover on your own and that will not be paid by the insurer. Most commonly seen in hospitalization insurance.

Conditions — The obligations and responsibilities of you and the insurer. Make sure you fulfil all these conditions or you might lose your insurance coverage.

Deductible — Amount of money that you must pay on your own before you can start to make an insurance claim. If you have a hospitalization insurance policy with a deductible of $3,000 and you incur a hospital bill of $10,000, you must pay the first $3,000 of the bill and then make a claim for the remaining $7,000 (subject to any co-insurance that must be paid by you on the remaining $7,000). Most commonly seen in hospitalization insurance.

Entry date, policy date — The date that your insurance coverage starts.

Exclusion — Exclusions indicate situations where you will not receive insurance coverage. For instance, if you have a travel insurance policy that excludes you from coverage if you participate in extreme sports, it would be a good idea to avoid cliff diving on your trip as you won’t be able to make a claim for medical costs incurred while doing so.

Policyholder — That’s you, the person being protected by the insurance! Hello!

Premiums — The price you are paying for your insurance policy.

Sum assured — The amount your policy will pay out if the event against which you are insured takes place. If you have a life insurance policy with a sum assured of $500,000, a sum of $500,000 will be paid out to your beneficiaries if you die.

Surrender value — When you choose to give up a policy with cash value (eg. whole life insurance, endowment plans or investment-linked insurance), the surrender value is the amount of cash you will receive in return.

Termination — If your insurance cover gets terminated, it comes to an end prematurely.

How to read an insurance product summary

Your insurance product summary summarizes in a “few” words the key features of your insurance policy.

It usually begins with a table on the first page, followed by a breakdown of the main categories of coverage. Skip to the end of the document and you might find information about your premiums and other info like loyalty bonuses.

Skim through this document each time you purchase or renew a policy just so you don’t run the risk of neglecting to make a claim when you could have. You might find it useful to highlight the titles of the main categories of coverage so you can see at a glance what you can make claims for.

How to read a benefit/policy illustration

Policy illustrations or benefit illustrations show, using tables, the benefit amounts you will receive in various situations.

This document is typically issued to life insurance policyholders and might include information such as your estimated insurance premiums if you renew your plan (for term insurance).

For policies with cash value (ie. hybrid life insurance plans), the benefits table will show how much you will pay into your policy, as well as your projected non-guaranteed returns and estimated surrender value over time.

The policy illustration document can help you plan for the future by anticipating your future premiums or returns, so keep it at hand when planning your finances. However, do take the figures with a grain of salt as any estimates or non-guaranteed returns are not set in stone.

How to read an insurance premium table

Take note of insurance policy exclusions!

It’s always a good idea to have a look at the list of policy exclusions to avoid any nasty surprises.

You don’t want to pay insurance premiums year after year only to discover in twenty years’ time that your hospitalization policy had actually been excluding you from claiming for a pre-existing condition from the start.

Policy exclusions are also important to look at when comparing plans. Two policies from different insurers may look identical, but one may impose much more onerous exclusions than another.

Not sure? You have a 14-day free-look period to cancel it

Your agent may not want you to know this, but you can actually cancel your policy and receive a refund within 14 days of receiving your policy documents.

So, before you chuck your insurance policy documents into the drawer where you keep all your old receipts and Singpass token, never to see the light of day again, force yourself to go through them during that 14 day window.

If nothing else, at least you can get some bedtime reading material that actually helps you fall asleep faster.

Summary: Instead of calling a drone to eliminate Brad, Peter simply had Y/N do his dirty work for him.

Warning: Mild swearing (does taking Jesus’ name in vain count?), maybe some miswritten hacking skills.

Notes: I am not a tech person, so this is kind of out of my league, but I tried my hardest to make it seem realistic. 

She didn’t know how, but Peter was to blame for this. When Harrington told them that they had made the last minute upgrade to Prague, that was the first thought that popped into (Y/N)’s mind. 

She approached the young superhero, crossing her arms as she leaned in, “Did you just hijack our summer vacation?”

Peter turned to her, apologetic, “Not on purpose, uh, Nick Fury really needs me to help out with these Elemental situations--”

“And let me guess,” Y/N cut off, “The next one’s in Prague?”

Peter nodded his head sheepishly before grasping his suitcase, “I’m sorry?” was all he could muster up before the two of them followed the rest of the class onto the bus. Y/N shook her head before settling down next to MJ, the two girls tuning out the world as the European countryside passed them by. 

Y/N gazed out the window, allowing the exhaustion from yesterday to settle over her, allowing her to slowly, gently, give in to the wave, closing her eyes as the green field passed her by. 

When she woke up, she knew she wasn’t in Prague. As if the strange behavior of the bus driver could’ve helped alleviate the situation. 

It was a bathroom stop, a chance to stretch their legs before continuing the bus ride for the next few hours. 

MJ had disappeared, and as far as Y/N could tell, so had Peter. A yawn escaped her mouth, alerting the girl to her newly revived state. Her eyes caught movement near the Men’s restroom, watching as Brad opened the door ever so slightly. She heard a scuffle of voices as he walked in, and as she crept closer, she could hear the unmistakable voice of Peter protesting something. 

By the time they had loaded back onto the bus, Y/N had no doubt that something awful was about to go down if the way Peter was shaking was any indication. 

After making sure MJ was asleep once again, she moved over to join Peter in the front seat. 

“Hey” She offered, “Is everything okay? You seem a little...on edge”

Peter shared a worried look with Y/N, stumbling over his words. “Brad, he um...he has....”

“Jesus, spit it out Peter,” She asked exasperated with his nerves. 

He leaned down, whispering the secret, “Brad has an embarrassing picture of me doing something that I definitely didn’t do but looks like I did, and now--”

“Say no more” she cut him off, pulling her laptop out of her bag, connecting it to the bus wifi. “It’s on his phone right?”

Peter nodded. 

“iPhone or Android?” She asked, pulling up the program her father downloaded several years ago.

Peter placed his new glasses on his face, turning to look at Brad, eyes scanning the kid. “Um, iPhone, I think.”

“Great” Y/N began to type away in Linux, programming the necessary functions, “I need his Apple ID and password.”

Peter nodded, “EDITH,” He whispered, “I need to access Brad Davis’ Apple ID information”

Y/N paused, in awe of the glasses, “Those are Stark’s glasses” She whispered, jaw open. “That gave him access to half of the world’s private information, those are a work of technical genius!” She rambled on, current task forgotten. 

Peter turned back to her, too distracted by his own hormonal problems to recognize the amount of work that went into the glasses staining his face. “Huh, oh yeah, it’s pretty cool. Mr. Stark left them to me.”

Y/N tried to ignore the irritation spinning in the pit of her stomach at the thought of a kid younger than her being left something so important. “He created the world’s most technically advanced AI, and he just...gave it to you? No explanation needed?”

Peter nodded, absentmindedly watching Brad in hopes of gaining information. 

She laughed mirthlessly, holding back her anger at the thought of Peter having so much power. He was a child, not even a full adult, and he had one of the most powerful AIs at his disposal. 

“Okay, I got it!” Peter announced, turning back around to face the front of the bus, “his email is bdavisbasketball@icloud,”

She began to input the information into the program, coding around it. “Password?”

Peter glanced back at the hidden screens in front of him, “bradsthebest, all lowercase, no spaces”

Y/N shook her head, disappointed in her peers for choosing such an easily hackable password. Even without the highly advanced program, she’d be able to hack his phone in a nanosecond. 

“Alright, I have access” Y/N smiled inwardly, feeling like a character in a heist movie, “You said it was a picture right?” 

Peter faced her, pulling the glasses off and leaning in. “Yeah, it would be among his recents”

“I know how phones work Peter.” Y/N snapped back, mostly as a joke, but she knew some of the irritation was real, that she really was upset with Peter’s use of EDITH. Or at least, she knew that was part of the reason for most of her irritation, the other part was because she could feel his breath on her neck, his arm hovering over her head, torsos practically touching. It drove her crazy. She could almost smell the body wash he had no doubt used that morning after last night’s events, mint radiating off his frame. 

“There it is!” Peter shook her out of her thoughts, and Y/N hoped he didn’t notice the amount of blood rushing to her cheeks. She clicked on the picture, deleting it from Brad’s phone for good before closing the program and shutting her computer. 

Peter collapsed against the bus seat, a sigh of relief emanating from the two teenagers for completely separate reasons. 

“Thanks” Peter’s gaze met hers, shoulder’s relaxing.

“No problem” Y/N smiled tightly, a jealous knot forming in her stomach at the sight of the glasses in Peter’s hands. She hated feeling like this. Like her dad. 

“You can try them sometime if you want” Peter offered, handing the pair of spectacles over to the student. “You, uh, you probably know more about them than I do anyway.”

Y/N’s awed gaze fell to the AI in her friend’s hand. All that power...and he was just giving it away. “You should keep them” She swallowed, her stomach growing tight, “If I need them I’ll ask.”

Peter nodded, tucking the glasses back into his backpack before drifting off for the rest of the trip.

Campaign Automation: One of the main benefits of this campaign workflow process is the ability to predefine these workflows and have them respond automatically to your contacts and timelines. This automation minimizes the amount of time required for manual contact activity and improves reliability of contact nurturing through consistent contact.

How can you integrate Marketing Automation to your e-commerce site?

Well, it depends on your businesses’ current situation. It’s a bit easier if you haven’t owned an e-commerce site yet. Thoughts on Pet Sematary (2019)

So I saw Pet Sematary in theaters a few days back, and I’ve gotta say, I was deeply, deeply disappointed. While I love the 1989 film about as much as I love the book, with the screenplay for the film being one of the only good screenplays written by King himself, it was admittedly in dire need of an upgrade. From Louis Creed’s hilarious line delivery, to the obvious switching to a Chucky-style doll during certain scenes with Gage, to the cinematography, the problems with the 1989 version of the flick were only in execution. The story could have been kept entirely the same (with a more ambiguous, book accurate ending), and it could have been an amazing remake. But instead, we got a very disappointing film.

First, I’ll go over what I liked. The cinematography, while gray, was still pretty creative at times in terms of camera movement. All the actors do a pretty good job for the most part, however, Ellie only does a good job after she dies. The practical effects were all pretty amazing, even though Ellie could have used a little more rot. The score is also pretty memorable and interesting. Surprisingly, the movie makes a few changes to the source material I actually really welcome. For example, the Zelda storyline is changed up in a way where it makes more sense why Rachel’s feeling of disgust towards Zelda added to her guilt by making Zelda’s death directly involve Rachel’s reluctance to interact with her. The Zelda flashbacks also have very creative transitions. However, those are all the praises I can really sing for this movie.

The writing is the most noticeable flaw with this movie. The characters never once talk like real people, they simplify story concepts way too often (for example, Rachel’s feelings of guilt in the first place are barely explored), and the movie brings up it’s themes of coping with death and loss in the most amazingly ham-fisted and basic ways possible. After Ellie asks about what will happen when Church dies, Rachel and Louis share a conversation IN PRIVATE about whether or not they believe in the afterlife. The movie quite literally decides it’s going to directly tell the audience that the character who is a surgeon doesn’t believe in the afterlife. Keep in mind, this isn’t really written into any other aspects of his character. I really don’t think these writers passed Screenwriting 101.

But on the other hand, the movie also has a recurring tendency to forget to write about the themes of the story altogether. For example, Pascow is criminally underused in this movie. You may remember in the original movie, Pascow was extremely important, as he spent his screen time trying to stop Louis from trying to cross the barrier between life and death, so Louis can learn to accept death. However, Remake Pascow is the most vague, boring, cookie-cutter horror movie ghost you can imagine, complete with never explaining what he means, and not influencing the events around him. Pascow also doesn’t appear at all during the ending. The writers genuinely don’t understand the importance he serves to the themes of the story. But his underuse is the least of this movie’s problems.

Now, I don’t have a problem with just the concept of changing things from book/old movie to movie. It’s necessary at times, and this remake has some welcome changes up it’s sleeve. However, this movie is almost entirely full of unnecessary changes that make the movie worse in one way or another. The first one I want to talk about is the decision to have Ellie be killed on the road rather than Gage. This is something that was explicitly revealed in the trailer to anyone who remembers the original story, and what’s worse? They extensively spoke about this major plot point in the film industry press surrounding the movie before release. I get that the trailer thing is a topic for a separate nerd tirade, but I can’t describe how stupid it was of these producers to talk about such a big change pre-release. Even though it’s a remake, it’s kind of alienating to movie-goers who don’t know the classic Pet Sematary story somehow. The filmmakers extensively spoke about how they made the change so that the resurrected child could be bigger and more threatening, though I think they were too weak to give us the true depressing movie we came here to watch. Because I guess movie audiences are somehow more emotional than they were 30 years ago? Comparing this attitude to how they actually put the scene together, it looks more like they were trying to pull an ol’ switcharoo on the people who know the story. Which begs the question: WHY ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT IT IN PLACES WHERE POTENTIAL MOVIE VIEWERS CAN SEE IT??

Another huge issue I have with this movie is how fucking seriously it takes itself. The original had a very light sheen of comedy to it, think something similar to An American Werewolf in London. This is extremely prevalent in the scenes involving Pascow, where he casually stands around the afterlife, contrasting against everything and everyone as a walking corpse that nobody can see. The remake genuinely lacks all intentional comedy, which makes it really really hard to actually remember the experience, or care about it. It also ends up making certain parts of the movie unintentionally funny. For example, during the scene where Louis does his internet research on the Pet Sematary, he finds a fucking newspaper clipping about a literal fucking bison being implied to have been buried in and resurrected by the Pet Sematary. I subsequently chuckled out loud in the theater, as my mind was crossed with the mental image of a grieving child lugging an entire bison to the Pet Sematary, and struggling to find a place to bury it in the already cramped cemetery.

The editing and scene pacing is legitimately the most stereotypical modern horror film schlock ever put to screen. Firstly, jumpscares are all over this film, and it’s not a look. From the Orinco trucks, to Zelda in the dumbwaiter, to Church, everything in the film is given a loud THUD effect to accompany it, and I was supplied with many Silent Hill: Revelation 3D pop-tart jumpscare flashbacks through it’s run-time. The placement of the THUDs at times felt like watching one of my Spooky Guys episodes. Again, back to Pascow being utterly useless in the story, he instead spends this film being relegated to “look at me, I’m vague and say 3 spooky sentences I repeat over and over and I’m in a modern horror film and that’s my whole character I’m scary I say stuff about ghosts and death”.

Now here’s the big one. The ending. The ending is genuinely the worst thing about the entire film. Here’s a basic summary from what I remember. So Louis buries his dead daughter and waits for her to come back as his family tries to contact him, while Gage is troubled by visions of Pascow (who does nothing of note through the whole story). Ellie comes back and catches on to the fact that she died, but Louis denies that and gives her a bath. Jud goes over and suspects that Louis has brought Ellie back from the grave, and Ellie gets mad about it and kills Jud. Rachel and Gage arrive back at the house after Louis stops returning their calls, and Rachel is greeted by an undead Ellie. Ellie thinks that Rachel doesn’t want her around anymore, and tries to kill her, Gage, and Louis. Rachel manages to allow Gage and Louis to escape, but she’s impaled and buried by Ellie. Louis puts Gage in the car and tells him to not open the door for anyone, not even Ellie. Louis faces off with Ellie in the Pet Sematary, before being killed by the now resurrected Rachel. Rachel and Ellie resurrect Louis, and for some reason unlike Ellie, Louis and Rachel are big dumb traditional zombies. At daybreak, they approach the car with a can of gasoline, having burned down Jud’s house. However, instead, they decide to unlock the car for Gage. I have a lot to say about this.

First off, this ending is fucking weak compared to the original ending. In the original film, the process of Louis killing Gage with the lethal injection is so indescribably heart-breaking. It’s actually a high point for the actor’s performance, and he definitely sells the sheer emotion of the scene. The remake’s ending definitely suffers from how frequently it fails to actually capture the emotion of the original story and film. With that, let’s just say, this movie is the prime example of why horror movies with dead protagonists fail so often. If you aren’t both careful and skilled, killing your protagonist can result in your protagonist’s character arc not being fulfilled or completed. The original Pet Sematary story has a very strong and compelling character arc for Louis. In the final scenes of the original film, after Louis has begrudgingly put down Church and Gage, and has burned Jud’s house down, he carries Rachel’s corpse with him. Pascow tries to get him to no longer try and cross the barrier between life and death, and that he needs to let go of those he loves. He needs to learn to cope with death, and understand that dead is better. Louis, however, doesn’t listen, and finds a reason to think it’ll be different this time: because she just died. Pascow realizes that Louis has failed to learn his lesson, and shouts an admittely hilarious “NOOOOOOO” as he fades away. Louis waits in his home after burying Rachel, and as she walks in, now decayed and deformed, Louis makes out with the walking corpse, before being killed by her. What works here is Louis has completed his character arc. Granted the character arc consists of failing to learn his lesson, but it’s a powerful arc no less. It drives home how much the movie is truly about being as grateful for death as we are for life, and how a life spent yearning for those who’ve passed to return is a life spent suffering. While the more ambiguous book ending is more favorable, the 1989 film version still drives home this theme extremely well.

Overall, very bad movie. Don’t waste your money on this. Save your money for Endgame, that looks good. Or if you’re a King fan, wait for It: Part 2. Just... please no more ‘80s jokes guys, it isn’t funny anymore.

Business Planning 101 With Michi

So you want to start your own business but you don't really know where to start. You came to the right post (hopefully)! This post will serve as a general rundown of things to keep in mind as you try to set up a divination shop and hopefully point you in the right direction. By the end of this post you should be ready to fly out of the nest!

Overview

First you need to think about what the vision for your shop is. What services do you want to offer? What is your main focus/goal? Why do you want to set up a shop? What's driving you? What's your motivation? What does your dream shop look like and how can you set yourself up to get there? What kind of clients are you trying to attract?

But Michi, I'm stumped! I don't know what I want to offer or how to present myself!

Brace yourself! This post gets mighty long and I’m putting the rest of it under a read more. Before we jump into it some notes:

Disclaimer: I am not a business planner nor do I claim to be. This post is based off of my experiences as a tarot reader and additional research I’ve had to do and have simply done my best to condense all these experiences into this post.

Use those divination tools!!!

You can get a good sense of things by doing a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analysis. Questions you can ask your tools (And keep in mind, you don't have to stick to these specific questions but hopefully they serve as a good jumpstart):

What are my strengths as a diviner?

What are my weaknesses as a diviner? 

How can I work on my weaknesses? 

What opportunities should I focus on/take advantage of?

Is there anything that stands in the way of my business?

How can I address this obstacle?

You can even ask what direction is your business headed, what are things you need to focus on etc. Tailor this process to your needs.

Your business is an extension of you. It's okay to let your personality and character shine through the different aspects of your business. It's okay to admire shops for what they do or how they do things but do not set yourself up to be a copy of them. It's also okay if you're unlike other shops, structuring yourself or offering things that are uncommon.

Pricing

Oh pricing, pricing. Listen, its okay to offer free readings. You are not obligated to offer free readings, you don't owe anyone free readings. However, that being said personally, I do like to offer free readings. Why? First, I think it's a good way of letting people try before they buy and it gives others a portfolio/preview of what you can offer. I know this doesn't work for everyone, and not everyone that gets a free reading will buy one from you. But it can also be a good way to remain accessible to those that can't afford to pay for a reading but still want readings. Again, this isn't something you have to do and others may opt to put their energy towards clients that will pay them for their interpretations.

Now in terms of pricing there's different angles you can take. Some people like doing cheap readings while others argue against doing cheap readings because they feel like you're communicating to your clients that you’re not good quality. Overall, the most important thing to consider is what your ideal price range is, and how you want to value your time. You might also want to factor in how long it takes you to do your readings.

The way I see it, it's how valuable is your time + how valuable is your skill. And heck you can even make it a little equation if you want? For example if your time is worth $10 an hour and you value your skill/energy at an additional $6, your hourly rate is $16. Depending on how long your readings take you might want to divide by time. (Ex. 30 minute reading $8 or X size reading takes 30 minutes so I'll price it at $8). Whatever numbers you chose are up to you, the numbers used were for example purposes only and not to be taken as a representation for what you need to use. Some people don't want to charge as much, others feel more comfortable charging less. Different people have different circumstances and needs. Other choose to price their readings/services by card/rune/question etc. Regardless of the method you use to price your services, be sure to make these prices clear wherever you chose to list your prices and how you intend on seeking payment. Just keep in mind that the higher the quality of the reading, the more people are willing to pay for it. If you give a client a sentence while charging them several dollars, they might not be too happy about that. That’s why its important to specify what they can expect beforehand. 

Another thing to keep in mind is the platform you’re advertising your services on. Tumblr has a lot of young people who may be more strapped for cash, so you may have a harder time selling more expensive readings on this platform. You may consider branching out to other platforms, Redbubble, Storenvy, Etsy, Facebook, or even hosting your own website. Keep in mind that other platforms may charge you a commission fee, or other monthly maintenance fees, so again, I really encourage you to do some research and figure out what works best for you. I think something really important to keep in mind when it comes to being on a site where you have to pay some sort of fee for using the service is, making sure you make enough money off of your services to cover those costs and still be able to pay yourself. Basically, make sure these costs aren’t detrimental to your success in the long run. 

There are many different services people use to accept payments and while I can’t cover each one, I can link you to a post that goes into different providers you can use to accept payments. Most people use services like Paypal and Ko-Fi. With Paypal, you have access to tools that allow you to add a widget to your Tumblr that would allow people to purchase your services directly through your Tumblr. You may also choose to use Paypal’s invoicing services to bill clients. With Ko-Fi, the person is responsible for submitting the appropriate amount of coffees that correspond to your pricing. (It may be a good idea to list your prices on Ko-Fi using their posting system for easier reference) And if you pay a monthly fee, you can use Ko-Fi Gold features to have commission slots that would close automatically once you reach your max workload (which you control). The best advice I can give you, is to research your options, figure out what the pros and cons are, and which service works best for you. 

On a sidenote, if you have a Paypal, you can upgrade to a free business account and operate under a business name. This is very important if you don’t want people to know what your real name is. Ko-Fi offers similar protection in the sense that they operate as a middle man and protect your identity, while not taking a fee from you for doing so (Paypal would still take a service fee from you and this is also something to consider when you set your prices up). 

Services

Different diviners offer different services but I strongly believe that regardless of the services you offer it's important to describe what those services entail and what the person can expect from said service. The description of your services should give people enough insight to be informed as to what you are offering with said service. Is it yes/no? Are you giving them a sentence? A paragraph? An email? A PDF? A public post? 

Also what language can they expect in your readings? Are you a sassy reader? Do you roast your clients? Are you more formal? The theme of your readings is something important to reference so that people have a better idea of what to expect when they buy from you. Re-read your work, make sure you don’t have grammatical errors to the best of your abilities etc.   

Also since majority of divination services can be really personal/ a drag, you always want to make sure that if the reading will be public, your client knows that beforehand and is okay with that.

Are you including pictures of cards in their reading? Or pictures of whatever divination device you use? If you do decide to include pictures, make sure that the quality is reasonable. (i.e: No blurry/unreadable photos) You don’t need professional equipment to make sure your pictures look good. A lot of phones have editing options that you can mess around with and get a good result. If you do decide to take pictures, make sure the surface you’re placing the cards upon is clean/neat and that the lighting is favorable. If your deck contains nudity (like mine, I use the Hermetic Deck) make sure that your client has access to this information before the reading in case they would rather opt out of the pictures. 

How are you choosing to advertise your services? Are you simply making a text post or are you going to make a graphic? If you do decide to make a graphic make sure to also include written information. You want to make sure that you’re making your post accessible to others. Some people use electronic readers and electronic readers can’t read the information on pictures. When you design your graphics make sure you’re picking colors that make reading easy, not harder. This also means picking a reasonable font size as well. And if you’re in doubt finding people who can give you feedback before you officially post will be super helpful. 

Policies & Ethics

Legal: If you are a resident of the United States, make sure you check local and state laws to make sure you aren't breaking any laws. A lot of states have something called a "Charlatan Law" or laws specifically against fortune telling. For example in New York state the following law exists:

Section 165.35Fortune telling A person is guilty of fortune telling when, for a fee or compensation which he directly or indirectly solicits or receives, he claims or pretends to tell fortunes, or holds himself out as being able, by claimed or pretended use of occult powers, to answer questions or give advice on personal matters or to exorcise, influence or affect evil spirits or curses; except that this section does not apply to a person who engages in the aforedescribed conduct as part of a show or exhibition solely for the purpose of entertainment or amusement.  Fortune telling is a class B misdemeanor.

Now I know that many diviners do not consider themselves to be fortune tellers or find the term to be offensive, but in the legal sense anyone that does divination would (unfortunately) be considered a fortune teller. When you're writing your shop policies, be mindful of these laws. Sometimes it's sufficient to clarify that your services are for "entertainment purposes only" but always double check with a lawyer or a legal professional to make sure you've protected yourself enough.

Also, some states forbid talking about anything remotely religious with anyone under the age of 18, so be sure to check for those laws as well.

When it comes to offering your services establish what your boundaries are beforehand. You may think “Oh I’ll figure that out as I go along,” and while you may, it’s always better to know beforehand. Does the idea of people asking certain questions make you uncomfortable? Then say so in your rules. A lot of diviners, myself included have a page with rules and guidelines for perspective clients. But other than that, yeah she never really paid attention to music or the talent or hard work it takes to be even mediocre at it, let alone good

That changes when she finds out you can sing

She doesn’t actually hear you singing

She was just rummaging through your room (with your permission of course) looking for spare parts when she found your instrument

She kind of just plops down in front of you and looks at you expectantly

Dimension Wave   Chapter 4—The Bright Fishing Idea

The first meal I had since coming to Dimension Wave was mackerel and herring. Alto got in contact with the girl who is leveling up her cooking skill and I had her grill some fish for me. It might seem like I’m bragging since I was the one who caught the fish, but they were big and delicious. I gave the girl 10 herrings as thanks. Alto was quite happy for the three herrings I gave him for introducing me to the girl. Perhaps herring is the key to friendship.

“You seem to be well-connected, Alto. Were you a beta tester?”

I recall that they were recruiting for the beta test.

“Nah, I haven’t played the beta at all. In fact, I think they intentionally accepting only a few people for it.”

According to Alto, it seems like they did indeed have a beta version of the game, but there were zero changes for the gold release. Not only that, but the company didn’t want beta characters to be mixed in new players, so everyone was reset to level 1.

“I see.” “I heard there was leaked content.” “Oh, I’ve heard about that too, though I don’t know the details.”

They say a beta tester leaked details about the game on an anonymous textboard, including content protected by the non-disclosure agreement. That’s what I read about at least, though I wasn’t there to witness it in real time.

As far as I remember, though they can get unlimited skills, their stats are the lowest of all races.” “… you don’t know?” “Speaking of which, what race are you playing as? I take an awkward look at myself. From time to time, I’m half transparent. That’s one of the traits of Spirits.

“The exact Spirit we’re talking about. They seem pretty unusual, but I just learned that they’re not really strong.” “Oh, that’s it. So? What’s it like?” “Ehh. I’ve only been fishing up ‘til now, so I haven’t run into any difficulties so far.”

Since my status and Energy are one and the same, any slight mistake might put my life into jeopardy. If you think about it that way, you could say it’s pretty weak. It seems pretty well-suited for me if I’m just fishing or crafting in town, seeing how I don’t have to do anything to get more Energy or Mana. Well, I guess Dimension Wave focuses more on the combat aspects though.

“I see. Let me know if Spirits are easy to use. I don’t think many people are playing as one because of the leaks.” “Yeah, if I feel like it.” “Alrighty then, I’m gonna head off. Contact me if you have anything you want to trade with me, okay?” “Aye, aye.”

I respond to his wave with my own. After taking a bow, Alto sets off to find his next customer.

“Whew…”

I heave a sigh before opening my inventory to look at the fishing rod that I had Alto’s acquaintance make for me. Wooden Rod +2. It’s made from a flexible stick, silk line, and a copper fishhook. All of these things are from different places, so Alto must have run around quite a bit.

Though Alto says the +2 was merely incidental, I don’t think that’s the case. It’s probably more to do with the crafter’s skill and the quality of materials. When he showed me the stick, line, and hook, it already seemed like they were of nice quality, so I think I’m right.

It also costed me 700 serin, but it seems like it’d perform a lot better than the 600 serin Shoddy Rod. And since it was specially made for me, I’ll be extra careful not to let it get stolen away this time. Oh, isn’t it about time my Energy ticked up?

I kept it to myself, but it ticked me off. What’s worse is that she’d top the scoreboard with the highest kill/death ratio. Thinking about it again, it was Tsugumi who got our passes for Dimension Wave. Being surrounded by five of anything would likely be nothing to her.

… I’m still not happy about it, but whatever. Time to look for an inn. I open up the map from the menu. There’s a few places marked with “ZZZ” here in town. I take a look at which of the five seem good. Well, this is a game after all, so there’s probably not a huge difference, but the prices differ. In the end, I chose the one in the middle of the pack that’s neither cheap nor expensive.

“—That will be 150 serin for one night’s stay,” says the lady who is seemingly the innkeeper.

I feel like I’ve heard her voice actress before somewhere. Handing over 150 serin rewarded me with a key. I head towards my room. It seems like you get to use the room for a full 24 hours too. That means I can catch some sleep and go shopping afterwards. I feel like I’m here on vacation.

In any case, I look around the inn. Looks like I’m the only one here. Well, today being the first day, it’d be rare for anyone to head to bed to early. Out of the five, this one seemed the most average. The walls in the cheapest inn were chipped and cracked. Why would anyone choose that, I wonder.

I arrive at room 101—the same number marked on the key—and unlock the door. It’s a normal room. It’s quite a bit smaller than hotels in real life. I take a seat on the bed. It’s as soft as the bed in my room. To put it mildly, it’s not nearly plush enough to be a hotel bed. Well, it was only 150 serin to stay here.

I don’t feel right sleeping in my clothes and shoes. I put my shoes aside and take my clothes off. What was left was a little girl in her underwear.
