He feels the same he always has and doesn’t, at the same time. Feral watches while Wolffe does his rounds around the new Imperial base, and he walks like he remembers, his way of tilting his head the exact one Feral can see in his mind when he closes his eyes.

They may have had something, once--but Wolffe looked at him like he was just another target, his eyes invisible behind the black lenses of the new imperial helmets, the white plastoid unmarked and impersonal, and then he raised his blaster, alarm and confusion and a blunt sort of determination swirling in the Force, and Feral ran away. He fled, grief and confusion and fear warring in his head.

He has been watching him from afar for a few weeks, trying to find a way to get to him, to talk to him, to--to understand.

He should leave--Wolffe is and isn’t; he’s turned into a ghost, a stranger.

He can’t make himself.

I never thought I would ever write anything for any fandom, but I guess I was wrong. I got inspired by @blackkatmagic and here I am!

With a snort, Wolffe drops their packs on the ground and flops back, grimace deep and displeased. “Taking over a noble house on Naboo all over again,” he mutters, and Feral chuckles a little, approaching. When Wolffe grabs for him, he lets himself be caught, pulled down next to Wolffe, and Wolffe promptly rolls over him, cages him in with his body and leans down to rest their foreheads together. Smiling, Feral tangles his fingers in Wolffe’s curls, enjoying the closeness, the meaning behind it.

“I’ll talk to him,” he promises, soft. “But—I think it might have to be that dramatic. He knows Sidious the best.”

“Never should have let those three set foot on the same planet, let alone interact,” Wolffe mutters, and when Feral laughs, Wolffe kisses him, steals the sound and presses down and steals Feral’s breath entirely. With a moan, Feral wraps an arm around his shoulders, tugs, and Wolffe sinks down entirely on top of him, a weight that leaves Feral breathless for more than one reason.

When he breaks the kiss, Feral opens his eyes, looks up at him, and it’s hard to breathe, seeing Wolffe watching him like that. It’s hard to think of anything but what’s coming, and how many possibilities of failure there are, and all the ways it could go wrong.

Feral is scared, because now it feels real. Maul showed him the exact spot they're going to spring their trap, and where Feral should be when they do, and that means it’s almost time. Sidious will be here soon, and he’s going to try to kill all of them.

“Maybe not,” he says with a lightness he doesn’t feel. “But I don’t think anyone could stop them now.”

Wolffe pulls a face, and Feral can feel his mild horror at catching Fox with his tongue halfway down Maul's throat. It makes him laugh a little, no matter how sympathetic he is, because—it’s good, in his opinion. Maul never, ever would have allowed that before, wouldn’t have let anyone see him enjoying something beyond violence and wouldn’t have permitted someone to take any liberties with him. But now he is, and neither Fox nor Padmé seems bothered at all by the prickliness, the sharpness. Such things slide right off them, in a way Feral’s never quite been able to manage.

“It’s good,” Feral says, smiling, and when Wolffe makes a sound of disgust, he chuckles, rubbing their cheeks together. “I'm glad Maul found people. And Padmé and Fox are both beautiful.”

There's a pause, deliberate, and then Wolffe tips his head to look up at Feral through one narrowed eye. “Fox is beautiful?” he asks, pointed.

Feral desperately contains his laughter, tries to keep his expression as innocent as possible. “He is!” he protests. “I like the grey in his hair. It looks…distinguished.”

“Distinguished,” Wolffe repeats in disbelief. “We’re clones.”

Feral blinks up at him, eyes wide. “But you're all completely unique in the Force,” he says earnestly.
