Aphverse Ask!

Taken from @mye-chi I had a ton of fun with this!!

01. how were you first introduced to aphmau?

My first introduction to Aphmau was (unfortunately), from her appearing in someone else's video, probably a Do Not Laugh.

02. favorite main character, side-character, ship, and villain?

I'm going to go with Minecraft Diaries for most of my answers bc that's the series I'm really fixated on. Favorite MC is Laurance, favorite side character is Castor, favorite ship is Laurance X Table, and my favorite villain is Zane (there's literally no competition he's better than everyone else)

03. which characters do you think deserve better? which characters do you think deserve less?

Laurance deserves SO MUCH BETTER! Also My Street Blaze deserves better, both of my boys were done absolutely dirty. I know this is popular opinion, but Aaron deserves less. He frequently got in the way of other characters arcs because he got so much focus in both series.

04. what are your favorite episodes/scenes?

I don't remember episodes very well, but the scene of Laurance confessing after he gets out of the Nether is permanently burned into my memory. Shortly followed by the entire scene at the end of Season 1 in the Irene Dimension, that whole sequence was just *chefs kiss*

05. favorite minor character? like barely a fraction of the fandom acknowledges them but you adore them?

I will forever die on the hill of Katelyn's brother Kasey being an absolute sweetheart who deserves the entire world. He has maybe 20 minutes of screen time in total and I would end reality for him.

06. what are your favorite and least favorite skins?

Ooh, I'm a really big fan of Nicole's skin, especially after the time skip in season 2. I think my least favorite is probably most of Aphmau's skins where she isn't wearing a dress. Her outfits just are not it.

07. best dynamic in the series? like, whenever these characters are onscreen your brain just explodes?

Me literally anytime Vincent and Laurance are on screen together. I seriously would watch an entire series of Vincent and Laurance talking about Shadow Knight stuff, love, Cadenza, Meteli, whatever they want to talk about, I want to hear it.

08. alternatively, what's a dynamic you really want to see in canon?

I'm kind of upset by the lack of friendly rivalries in the series. There was some of it in Phoenix Drop High, but I feel like most rivals in the series take themselves too seriously. I just want Blaze and Aaron to have a very goofy friendly rivalry where Blaze keeps trying to "overthrow him" and they just get into wrestling matches together.

09. personal bias aside, who do you think is the best written character and why?

This is a hard question to answer because they're all written badly at some point or another, but I think Dante is the most consistent. Like I can't think of a scene where Dante does something and I went "Dante would never do that", which I can't say for most characters.

10. what is your ideal ending for the series?

For Minecraft Diaries, it's either the tragedy ending where Shad wins and takes over the entire overworld and everyone gets turned into shadow knights, or Laurance's rebellion actually works and he's able to successfully quell the calling and go back to the life he deserves to have with Garroth. For My Street it's ending with Season 2 because My Street peaked at Season 2, I don't know why they bothered to make more of it. (Season 3 is fine I just really like Season 2 agsgfhfh)

11. do you have a rewrite, character reinterpretations/redesigns, or any aus? if so, is there anything you'd like to talk about or snippets you want to share?

Hooo boy do I! It's not that big of a deal, it's only OVER 300k WORDS (which is double the length of the fucking Iliad). The main idea is essentially me writing Minecraft Diaries but I inserted a single OC just to see how much she would shake up the series and oh my Irene does she shake up the series. My favorite thing she does is that she's a catfolk that's from Tu'la, so Tu'la, Mephina, and the lore around those subjects gets focus from early on in the story instead of showing up out of nowhere in Season 2 with little consequence.

I keep wanting to share this story but I'm still very bad and awkward about sharing OC stuff so like... I don't. (Please tell me if you would be into reading bits of it I need validation)

12. which roleplay, excluding minecraft diaries and mystreet, is your favorite? (my inner demons, mod mod world, meteora valley, etc.)

Definitely My Inner Demons. It's a bunch of silly self-indulgent nonsense that's incredibly padded and infuriates me sometimes, but Leif is one of the best characters to ever exist and MID is better than almost everything Aphmau has written for that reason alone.

13. have your sentiments towards any characters/ships changed over time? (for instance, you didn't care for them at all but now you're obsessed with them, or you used to love them but it's faded over time.)

I remember really liking Aarmau as a kid, but my mood on that ship has definitely soured over time. However, my love for Garrance and literally any other gay ship in this series has only grown. Shout out to the ship of Nana and Katelyn, I literally adore it so much.

14. if you could choose an opening and ending theme for the series, what would it be?

Uhm... I don't actually know. Like, I'm tempted to say Faster Car really was the perfect intro for My Street, especially in Season 2 (the best season), and MCD shouldn't really have an intro if you ask me. As for ending themes, always the classic Call Me Baby by HeatlyBros, that ending just holds such a vibe that I can't really explain but it captures the sound of Aphmau series very well.

15. alternatively, if you could choose a theme song/ost for your favorite character, what would it be?

MCD Laurance is literally Curses by The Crane Wives, followed shortly by The Moon Will Sing also by The Crane Wives.

16. favorite blogs, artists, and writers?

Ashdgfdf I've been here for like a week and a half and I don't know anyone's names I just think everyone here is neat. Shout out to @laurencezvahlslefteyebrow though, their Laurance's Choice rewrite hurt me.

17. any headcanons you're attached to?

In an aphverse server I'm in we discussed the headcanon of Shadow Knights having doll like qualities to them (like Gene having a cracked porcelain doll face, or Laurance sometimes acting like a lifeless doll when he spaces out for too long) and literally every time I think about that headcanon I make it progressively worse in the best way possible. I'll probably make a full post about it at some point because it's living in my head rent free.

18. is there anything about the fandom you dislike?

A lot of my issues with the fandom is just lingering trauma from those truly feral early days when I was active back in the mid to late twenty tens. Nowadays I think my only complaint is that I don't see enough Blaze content. We need more Blaze content.

19. which character would you like to cosplay as?

Travis probably. Either that or Blaze.

20. you can only change one plotline in the entire canon—what would it be and how would you alter it?

I would completely alter how Aaron was handled in Diaries. I truly think he had so much potential, but his character got boiled down to just being Aph's love interest. I would have him have more interactions with characters that aren't Aph, showing new fascets of his personality, such as seeing him give advice to Cadenza about being a young Lord, or training Travis in combat and lecturing him about how to properly utilize his different strengths and weaknesses, showing how observant and calculated Aaron is.

And also I would completely rewrite Season 2 Episode 95 (which I've done twice now)

21. have you ever had a crush on any of the characters? (and do you still have one?)

...I've had... A few... (looks at like literally almost the entire cast of MCD and MID) But I have totally moved on from all of those and I definitely don't daydream about any of them, especially Laurance or Blaze anymore. I am. Normal.

22. who's the character that you most identify with and why?

Blaze because I too am a pansexual, polyamorous, head-empty stoner who really likes Garroth's thighs and thinks Dottie is cute.

23. you get to design an official aphmau game! assuming money or time wasn't an issue, what would that look like? (for example, a visual novel, TTRPG, fighting game, etc.)

I would LOVE to make an MCD themed TTRPG!! Like, I might actually make one where you can drop any of your characters into a sandbox-ish version of the world and get to explore Ru'aun and the lore of the Relics, or the political warfare of the world, or maybe you just commit war crimes idk. I just think it'd be fun.

24. if you could design your own line of merch, assuming money or time wasn't an issue, what would you choose?

An entire line of plushies of the characters in a similar vibe to what Youtooz plushies look like. Variations for characters who exist in both universes, and if they're a Shadow Knight, Relic holder, demon or have any other alternate forms they also get plushies of these forms. Imagine a little chibi angry SK Laurance I would literally cry

25. aphmau got a cafe collaboration! what food/drink do you think your favorite characters would be?

Blaze is like a very caffeinated energy drink that doesn't look like it should be real, Garroth is a very classic kind of iced latte with the faint taste of lavender, Laurance is a sugary coffee drink that tastes like you melted vanilla ice cream into a hot cup of coffee, Travis is also a brightly colored energy drink but specifically like a frozen slushie version of said drink.

26. you're tasked with writing an official side story/spin-off roleplay (like void paradox, mermaid tale, upside-down story, etc), what would that look like?

My Street but instead of giving it a plot related to Diaries, it's really just a goofy slice of life series and each mini-arc focuses on different characters living their lives from their perspective, probably starting around Season 3. Just My Street but it doesn't take itself seriously and also everyone is gay.

27. what's something really interesting that you wished canon decided to explore more? alternatively, what's something interesting that you wished the fandom acknowledged more?

I really wish that Diaries focused more on the agony of relic holders and how it effects their lives in different ways. Like, where's the existential crisis because you're starting to lose your sense of self as you bond with the relic and become more and more like its previous holder instead of yourself? As for the fandom, I wish we acknowledged Blaze more.

28. if you could ask jess one question about the series and receive a direct answer, what would it be?

What the actual fuck were you thinking while writing, recording, editing, and publishing Minecraft Diaries Season 2 Episode 95?

29. any general unpopular opinions?

My Street Zane is mid.

If I could get a second question answered from Jess, the second question would be: Why did you queer bait the most popular gay ship in your fandom if you knew that one of the characters would get written out of the series and never acknowledge it? I know why but I'd love to hear her try to justify it.

Assuming super deep crushing stage, like almost in a relationship.

Zane: He stares at the note in his hand, eyes wide like saucers- did you- when- HUH???

His eyes shoot up when he hears your laugh and his mouth goes dry- how should he- uhm. His heart hammers in his chest as his feelings spiral for a moment - but the look of your smile, the sound of your laugh... It starts to calm him slowly.

He tucks the note close to his chest, a very small smile tugging on his lips.

Evander: The piece of paper feels like it weighs a ton in Evander's hand as he scans each words, the curve if every letter, the spaces between the letter... What- what should he do?

His eyes shoot up and meet yours from where you're laughing, and his heart flutters and the weight in his hand diminishes with his realization of what he wanted to do.

Damn, you're lucky you're cute.

Aimé: Oh this brings back memories. Xe smiles to xyrself as xe reads the letter. Xe delicately places the piece if paper down as xe looks for a pen among xyr belongings.

Xe could almost hear how your heart skipoed a beat from where you stood. With delicate hands, xe marks the appropriate box with a red 'x', then xe folded up the letter again and put it back in it's envelope before finally making eye-contact with you.

Xe mercifully doesn't laugh at you almost tripping as you rush over to receive the letter.

Nova: Nova laughs as she reads the letter, her eyes easily find you where you hide. She looks at the letter again, considering if she should find a pen and-

No. Fortune favors the bold.

With determined steps and a confident smile, she starts to walk towards you, a reply at the tip of her tongue.

Kane: WHERE ARE THEIR PENS? Kane curses themselves as they search through their bag desperately, unaware of you watching them from a distance. They were to occupied with the letter, this was it!

They didn't think this was how the two of you would officially confess, but they aren't complaining!

Once they find a pencil at the bottom of their back, they get to work. They mark every bix with a heart, decirating the rest of the letter with more stars and hearts, they poured themselves into this odd human tradition until they heard a snicker a distance away and they freeze. Wait, how long have you been standing there?

Zaimé: Aimé has a brilliant smile in place while Zane stares at the piece of paper wide eyed in shock. The two of them sit together silently while Aimé let's Zane process the letter.

He looks up to where you stand, all smiles and giggles before looking towards Aimé, who is smiling as well.

"I can lend you a pencil" Xe offers, keeping xyr voice soft as xe extends a pen towards him.

Zane gently takes it and looks down at the paper, his chest felt warm.

None: "Wait- so it's both of us??" Kane frowns as they read over the letter, making sure that yebb, Nova's name is there too. Nova snatches the paper from Kane's hand, her eyes glance over towards you where you're hiding (badly).

"Yebb." Nova's tone sounds amused "Looks like Mc likes me too-"

Kane groans in dismay "why do I have to share with you?" They cover their face with bith their hands and sigh dramatically, Nova laughs.

"Stay here and wallow in your misery, I'm gonna go tell mc I like them back-"

"Whoa there! Not without me!"

YOU KNOW WHAT?! IM GONNA TALK ABOUT IT! I’M GONNA TALK ABOUT HOW INSTANTLY KLAUS AND SPARROW!BEN LATCHED ONTO EACH OTHET AND WHY

Ben was Klaus’s only constant for decades. They bickered and fought constantly but they’re brothers, they love each other. When Ben died, Klaus was relieved that Ben was finally able to move on and find peace, but he still missed him, it’s clear as day in how he regards Sparrow!Ben when they first meet.

However, that’s all fairly surface level, stated clearly in the show itself. What’s less evident is that Ben has never had a friend before. I believe he says this, but I haven’t seen anyone truly pick it apart. His family was even faker than the Umbrellas’. They got along better, but they were more business partners than anything else. They spent their whole lives together, but barely got to know each other because their whole life is a publicity stunt. They’re under constant watch and judgement not just from their dad, but from the whole city and even each other. They worked so hard to be good at their jobs that they never were allowed to figure out who they were outside of them, even to each other. Ben isn’t deeply affected by losing his siblings because he doesn’t know how to mourn a relationship that lacked any authenticity. They worked together to be the perfect unit, so anything that didn’t fit into that image was hidden away, especially from the others because they *will* use that against you. And they spent every moment together, so none of them were ever allowed to be anything less than what was expected of them. Ben never got the opportunity to find out who he was outside of the guy on the billboards.

Then in walks Klaus, someone who knows Ben better than he knows himself. He knows the Ben that was allowed to be real, the Ben that was allowed to experience emotions other than stoicism and anger, the Ben that learned unshielded love through constant companionship with Klaus. Sparrow!Ben was never given the chance to become that, but seeing the absolute mess that is the Umbrellas, he finds that he wants it. He wants to be a mess, to be allowed to feel, to be accepted even when you screw up. He doesn’t know how to be the version of himself that earned that type of love, but then Klaus tells him that being real was what made Ben so easy to love.

And then they’re hanging off of each other the rest of the night. Don’t you dare make it weird (glares at Netflix), these losers are touch deprived. They’re clingy as hell in the most platonic way possible because do you think Sparrow!Ben has ever received any sort of physical affection? How many years has Klaus been metaphorically leaning on Ben before he finally learned to do so literally, only to lose him almost instantly? They each so desperately need the support the other is longing to give, okay?! They just want hugs, your honor.

Last week @choicesarehard won a challenge against me in her stream and because we are close enough for her to pick on me, it was decided that I had to pay some sort of price (if she loses, she reads ridiculous book covers) and in the end we decided on an ABC poem that I wrote and she read out loud. Summary: The gang coordinates a surprise for Alyssa’s birthday.

A/N: It’s my Burnsy’s birthday and I’m sure everything I’m going to say she already knows! Firstly, I’m so sorry I changed my mind about which AU and which song for this fic like 47545024 million trillion times. Burns just freaking gets me mmkay? She’s my nakie twin, my soul sister, my football bestie and my biggest cheerleader. GUYS! Idk how I could have gotten through this year without her checking in on me, our football conversations or her amazing (and haaawwwwt) fics. Some dialogue in this fic, btw, was taken from a conversation we really had (and as usual, she is hilarious).

Burns, you know that I love you a BUTT TON and I will fight ANYBODY for you (where’s my vaseline?!) Thank you for always being in my corner, for giving me SEVERAL pep talks this year (because I’m dramatic), for believing in me when I sometimes didn’t believe in myself, and for loving me SO HARD. Alyssa was not feeling well. The more she coughed, the more she felt like death. “Oh, God, I feel like my brain is going to explode into itty bitty pieces,” she moaned with her arm draped over her face.

Drake bit his lip in an effort to stop a chuckle. She’s so fucking cute, and whiny. But cute. “Baby, it’s just a cold, you’ll be fine.” He slid onto their large king-sized bed and began to rub her lower back.

“It’s not! It’s the plague! Those kids at school don’t cover their mouths and sneeze up into the air! Like, I can see particles of their spit, just wafting,” she complained as she waved her hand in the air, mimicking the particles. “I bet you it landed on me or I inhaled that shit and now, look at me!” Her cute nose was reddened slightly from blowing out copious amounts of snot. She was seriously thinking about shoving some tissue in each nostril just to make sure nothing dripped.

Drake moved his hands upward and massaged her shoulders gently. “I can make you some soup,” he nibbled on her earlobe. “And make you feel … relaxed.”

“Mmmm,” she shivered at his words and sniffled. “Yes, baby, make me feel relaxed!”

A little while later

After Drake’s impressive two hour session of making Alyssa feel better, loud knocks sounded at their bedroom door.

“Lyssa!” Ella bellowed. “Lyss, you’re not answering my phone calls! Are you dead?!”

“No,” she croaked from the bed and stifled a laugh when Drake tripped trying to put on his boxers. “I was just getting my back blown out by my hot boyfriend.”

“Ew, TMI! Okay, are you covered up? I’m coming in!”

“No!” Drake yelled as he hurriedly threw on his pants. “Do not come in here, Brooks! I’m fucking naked!”

“Like I haven’t seen a naked man before,” Ella pushed open the door and rolled her eyes at Drake. “You aren’t even naked, Walker, get a grip.”

“No damn privacy around here,” he grumbled as he looked for a shirt in the closet.

“Hi!” Alyssa called out hoarsely from the bed as she tucked her comforter around her naked body. “I didn’t go to work today, I felt like death was coming for me.”

“I could hear you coughing from the kitchen. So, your blood pressure and that gnarly cough you have are what’s concerning me.”

“Yeah,” Lyss frowned and sniffed. “The cough is rough.”

“And gunky huh? Are you spitting up weird colored stuff?”

“No, it's clear and phlegmy!”

Ella narrowed her eyes on her best friend. “Lyss, did you take your blood pressure today?”

“I … umm no, I don’t like the machine.”

Ella let out a sigh. “You have to babe!”

Lyss’s bottom lip quivered. “I get scared my arm will explode.”

“Lyssa.”

The lip quiver always works with Drake. “… yes?”

“Your arm won’t explode.”

“If it malfunctions it could!”

Ella rubbed her hands over her face. “Alyssa!”

“In one of the Halloween movies, Michael Myers killed someone in the hospital by putting a BP cuff around their neck and pumping it until their head exploded!”

“What the fuck? Okay, no more Halloween movies for you!”

“But-”

“It’s not going to explode, Alyssa. You need to take your blood pressure. Do I have to hogtie you?”

“No ma’am, I’m taller than you!”

“By ½ an inch!”

Ella switched tactics. “If you don’t do this, I’m going to get Drake on you.”

Lyss giggled. “That’s hardly a punishment.”

Ella’s eye twitched and Alyssa held back a laugh.

After another 10 minutes, Alyssa finally agreed to only check her blood pressure if Ella did it for her and Drake had to hold her hand. Once the numbers were acceptable to Ella, Alyssa added to her terms. “Also, I want chicken noodle soup and those little soup crackers” - she sniffled - “and coffee.”

“Why not tea? That’s better I think,” Ella brushed some hair off of her best friend’s forehead.

“Coffee.”

“Cream isn’t a good idea for-”

Drake gave Ella a look.

“I mean … sure!”

“I’ll get started on that, baby,” Drake leaned over to kiss his girlfriend on top of her head. “Be right back.”

Ella waited until he closed the bedroom door behind him. “Lyssa.”

“Hmm?” She was already settled into the fluffy pillow and her eyes fluttered shut.

“Do you have a fever?” Not waiting for an answer, Ella leaned forward and felt Alyssa’s forehead with the back of her hand.

“Nu-uh,” Lyss mumbled and coughed.

“Lyss?”

“Yeah?”

“Don’t you want to put on some clothes?”

“Mmm, nope, I’m good naked.”

Ella chuckled. “Okay.”

She stood and left Lyss alone to rest. Ella wandered into the kitchen to find Liam and Drake as they stared into a large pot of broth.

“Is she asleep?” Drake asked while he stirred.

“Yep, she’s passed out,” Ella peered into the pot. “You need to add more onions.”

Drake tasted the broth again and shrugged. “Okay, more onions it is.”

Liam handed Drake the bowl of green onions. “So, what do you have planned for her birthday? Are you proposing yet?”

“I had planned to take her to the park and have a picnic,” Drake paused as he tasted the broth again from the ladle. “But seeing as how she’s not wanting to leave the bedroom, I might have to rethink my plan.”

“Hmmm,” Liam tapped his fingers over his mouth. “Why don’t you just have a picnic in the bedroom with her?”

“I guess,” Drake frowned. “That’s not very romantic.”

“You’re trying to be romantic, Walker?” Leo said as he walked into the kitchen with Maxwell with several bags from Nordstrom.

“Yeah, I am, if you must know.”

“I can help you out!” Leo’s wide grin made Drake narrow his eyes.

“What’s in it for you, Rys?”

“Oh, I just love helping my friends! Let me put all my stuff down in the bedroom, I’ll be right back.”

As soon as Leo was out of earshot, Drake hissed. “I don’t trust him!”

“I know,” Max replied. “It’s Leo we’re talking about. After he saw the movie Titanic he started the Billy Zane fan club.”

Ella stopped washing the dishes in the sink and turned. “Wait, what?!”

“Yeah,” Liam added. “Look it up, they’re called the Zaniacs.”

“Why does that make me angrier than anything he’s ever done?!”

Liam shrugged. “He also roots for Billy Zabka’s character in The Karate Kid.”

“Alright, guys! It’s romance time!” Leo announced as he came back to the kitchen.

Three days later

Leo, Maxwell, and Liam were busy setting up things for Drake and Alyssa’s outing at the beach.

“Why is Ella not helping us?” Maxwell huffed as he and Leo carried large boxes of twinkling lights.

“She’s here for Lyss, and to make sure Walker doesn’t sweat too much and get dehydrated,” Leo laughed as all three looked at Drake in the kitchen pacing back and forth.

“Fuck you guys,” his chocolate brown hair a mess after running his fingers through them more times than he can count. “I’m just … nervous.”

“Yeah, we can see that,“ Leo cackled as they walked out into the hallway and waited for the elevator.

“It’s going to work,” Liam reassured his best friend as he grabbed the guitar by the door and followed Max and Leo out.

“Drake, it’s going to be fine,” Ella put her hands on his shoulders to stop him from wandering around the kitchen; it was making her dizzy. “Liam is the King of Romance. Don’t listen to Leo, Alyssa is going to say yes.”

“How do you know that?” He began to babble and couldn’t stop himself. “What if this is too soon? What if she hates my singing? What if she says no?”

“You should be worried about whether she’ll get out of bed,” Ella looked towards the bedroom door.

“Oh my God, is she still in bed?!” He inhaled too quickly and began to cough.

“Okay, Walker, I was kidding. You know she adores you. She said ‘I love you’ first for crying out loud,” she gave him a concerned look. “Are you getting sick?”

“No, I don’t … get sick,” he sputtered as he continued to cough.

“Well you are pretty delicate, maybe you should slow down.”

He waved off her comment as his coughs began to dissipate. “I’m not delicate, I’m just” - he lowered his voice to a whisper yell - “proposing to my girlfriend and I don’t even know if she’s going to like this damn plan!”

Ella rolled her eyes. “Okay, so let’s just forget that you got sick watching Frozen.”

Drake glared. “No. I did not.”

“You also got a nosebleed watching Up,” she smirked.

“Oh my God, will you ever let that go?!”

Ella let out a chuckle. “Okay, fine then, why don’t you go and take a shower?”

“I already did,” Drake looked down at his sweat-stained shirt.

“Yeah, why don’t you go and take another one.”

He nodded. “Be right back.”

30 minutes later

“El! I need help!”

“Lyssa? What’s wrong?” Ella let herself into the bedroom Alyssa and Drake shared.

“My sinuses hurt and I dropped my dress and my book on the floor.”

“Okay?”

“Can you pick it up for me? It hurts to bend over.”

Ella hid a smile and bent to pick up Alyssa’s black dress and her book titled Remember Two Things. “I’ve been meaning to read this, how is it so far?”

“Oh it is so good,” Lyss put the book on her nightstand and pulled the dress over her head. “I’m at chapter 18 and these two have been in love since college-”

“No spoilers! I’m going to read it after you,” Ella found Lyss’ shoes under the bed and helped her put them on. “You take that medication I gave you?”

“The pill was too big.”

“Alyssa!”

“I’m kidding, yes, I took it,” she dimpled. “It was a gel capsule.”

Ella let out a sigh of relief. “Okay, good. You don’t need your sinuses to act up while you’re out.”

“Where is he taking me?”

“It’s a surprise.”

“Why?”

“You know why.”

Alyssa pouted. “No, I don’t.”

Drake appeared in the doorway with a brand new shirt that was miraculously dry. “Ready baby?”

“Yeah, I’m ready,” she stood and wrapped her arms around her best friend. “Thank you for helping me!”

Ella shooed the couple out the door and quickly called Liam to let them know they were on their way.

“Baby, why did you take another shower?” Alyssa eyed Drake’s damp hair.

“I … slipped in something Max spilled on the floor in the kitchen.” Fuck, I suck at lying.

“Oh,” Lyss chewed on her bottom lip and studied Drake’s side profile as he drove his truck through the streets of Los Angeles. “I was thinking … you’ve taken such good care of me while I’ve been whiny and sick and I wanted to thank you.”

“Of course, I care about you.”

“I love you, baby, I feel like we’re so good together.”

“We are, Lyss, I love you too,” he reached over and intertwined his fingers with hers.

Drake slowly pulled the truck into a parking spot and turned off the engine. “Come on, I have something I want to show you.”

Alyssa nodded. She hopped out of the car and took Drake’s outstretched hand as he led her into a walkway with arching shrubs above them. “What is this place?”

“It used to be a secret spot I went to when I was single,” he glanced down at her while she stared up at the greenery in awe. “I would just come down here to be alone.”

Suddenly, the archway lit up in thousands of little twinkling lights that illuminated their way down to the end of the walkway. “Oh my God,” Alyssa squealed. “I love this so much, it’s beautiful!” They came to the end of the lights and began to walk onto sand.

“Only a little bit further,” Drake mumbled as he took in the ocean, then focused his gaze on the large purple blanket that was sprawled out on the sand a few yards in front of them.

“What’s that?”

“It’s a little picnic the guys set up for us,” he gave Alyssa a nervous smile. “Are you hungry?”

“Yes! What’s for dinner?”

“Taco pizza and for dessert,” Drake excitedly climbed onto the blanket after removing his shoes. “S’mores brownie pie.”

“S’mores?!” Alyssa peeked into the large basket that held the pie. “Can we eat dessert first?”

Drake let out a loud laugh. “Whatever you want, baby it’s your birthday.”

Lyss opened the box where the taco pizza sat and she inhaled deeply. “Oh, no, we’re eating this first.” She grabbed a plate and separated two pieces, one for her, one for Drake.

“Thank you.”

They settled into a comfortable silence as they watched the waves cascade over the sand; the sun was slowly fading, disappearing behind the ocean, leaving its yellow-orange coloring over the blue hue of the water. Alyssa was sitting in between Drake’s legs, her back against his chest.

“This hit the spot,” she patted her stomach. “Taco pizza just like in Remember Two Things.”

“That’s where I got the idea from,” he kissed her on top of her head. “You told me how taco pizza sounded amazing and I had to get that for you.”

“You are amazing,” she leaned her head back and touched her lips to his. “Is that a guitar? Why didn’t I notice that before?”

Drake’s face turned a bright shade of red. “Uh, yeah, I had Liam bring his guitar out here.”

“Do you” - she pulled away from him and turned all the way around with widened eyes - “do you play guitar, baby?”

He nervously scratched the back of his neck. “I … Well, sort of. Liam taught me when we were teenagers.”

“That is so hot,” Lyss mumbled and she bit her bottom lip. “Will you play for me?”

Drake nodded. “Hopefully I’m not too rusty, it’s been years.”

“I know I will love it.”

Drake picked up the acoustic guitar behind him and began to tune it. His eyebrows furrowed in concentration as he went through each string and turned the knobs in turn. Alyssa watched as he dug into his jean pocket and pulled out a guitar pick. How is a man with a guitar so sexy?

“Here goes nothing.”

He strummed the guitar and smiled when it didn’t sound off-key. He took in a deep breath and began to sing.

Alyssa was taken aback. She had no idea he played guitar or sang a note until today. Drake Walker singing country music just did something to her; not to mention the fact that she loved this song.

She couldn’t stop herself, she started to sing along with him. It was a duet anyway.

Their eyes were locked as they sang together. Alyssa harmonizing with him made his stomach do flip flops. He was a nervous wreck just thinking about singing and playing this damn guitar in front of her. But once she started to sing, he wanted to stop so he could hear her angelic voice instead of his rough one.

“Drake?”

Her voice pulled him out of his thoughts. “Oh, sorry, I didn’t realize I stopped.”

“That was so beautiful,” Lyss’ eyes were full of unshed tears. “I had no idea you could sing, baby.”

“I’m sorry I stopped, I wanted to hear your voice instead of mine.”

“Come on, let’s keep going!”

“I … I wanted to ask you something first.”

“Okay, what’s up?”

He set the guitar down on the blanket next to him and reached into his other pocket. “Lyssa,” he pulled out a black velvet box but didn’t open his hand just yet. “I wanted to make your birthday special, and I was so fucking nervous because I didn’t know if you’d like all this.”

“Anything we do together I love, baby,” she grasped his free hand with both of hers. “Don’t ever think I won’t like something you plan for us.”

Drake nodded. “I love you and I chose that song because it’s your love that keeps me wanting to wake up every morning,” he opened his left hand and she saw the box in his hand.

“Is that …”

“Alyssa Devereaux,” Drake opened the ring box and there sat three round diamonds on a gold setting. “Will you marry me?”

The tears were falling and one hand was clamped over her mouth in shock. She was crying so hard and overwhelmed with so much emotion that she struggled to speak. “Y-yes, Drake, yes!”

Drake’s entire face lit up at her words; he slid the ring on her finger and leaned over to kiss her. “Do you have any idea how happy you’ve made me?”

Cheers erupted from behind some bushes behind them, and the couple turned in surprise. Leo, Maxwell, Liam, and Ella jumped out, all with their phone cameras pointed in Drake and Lyss’s direction.

Drake scowled. “What the fuck?”

“Guys!” Alyssa jumped up and waved her left hand in the air. “We’re engaged!” Ella pulled her in for a big hug and the two of them began jumping up and down.

“Nice going, Walker,” Leo smirked as he shoved the last piece of taco pizza in his mouth. “You still sing real pretty too, just like in middle school.”

“Fuck off, Rys,” Drake snarled.

“You did good, brother,” Liam stepped forward and pulled his best friend in for a manly hug.

Drake gave him a half-smile. “Thanks for setting this up, and for all your help, Li. I know Twiddle-Dumb and Twiddle-Dee didn’t help much.”

Liam shrugged. “They picked up your pizza and pie. Got one for themselves while we were waiting for you to pop the question.”

“Taco pizza is the bomb,” Maxwell announced with a mouth full of food. “You guys are engaged! When’s the wedding?!”

“We’re still on cloud nine from being engaged, Max,” Alyssa chuckled. “We’ll all plan it out when we’re ready.”

“All of them?” Drake asked incredulously as the gang began to clean up the picnic area. “All of them are helping us plan?”

“You’re stuck with us forever, gorgeous,” Leo called out to Lyss. “You sure that’s what you want?”

Alyssa looked over at her fiancé, who just so happened to look at her. “I am so sure.”

notes: i always wanted to write Noah but never got around to it. probably because i couldn't finish his route with how frustrating it was. but since i can imagine whatever i want, i imagined a story where they would start over at the reunion but with a twist, of course. i am thinking of making this story multiple chapters but we'll see. for the music, i would suggest still feel it all by MARO.

For Noah there were some things in life that really mattered to him. His family, his books and her. But that ship has sailed away long ago. It was stupid of him to feel these feelings after so long. It has been 5 years since the reunion, since he saw her look him in the eyes with confusion.

She felt cold. Throughout the night he would sneak glances her way but she always turned him down with the turn of her head. After some drinks she couldn't count the numbers of, she got up in his face and gave him a piece of her mind. He deserved it, she has waited for him all through their time in villa and even after it. She was patient, to a point though. Enough was enough, she thought to herself. Why the hell did he come here with Hope? He had promised her. She was so goddamn foolish, it was her fault. She should have known that he wouldn't take that step if it meant protecting Hope's feelings. But what about her feelings? Every time, every hopeful promise, every longing stare, it didn't matter to him. With mascara running down her face, hands balled up next to her sides, she humiliated herself around them. It didn't matter to her anymore too. Or she would act like it to help ease the sorrow and justify her rage. With the last words out of her aching soul, she got out the room that suffocated her.

Noah was conflicted as to what to do. Hope was next to him, baffled by Zane's words and standing still. She looked up at him to see what was he feeling. She saw it in his eyes, Zane was right. She scoffed. Unbelievable, it was. Here she was, the ball between them, passed around to win an argument.

Noah wanted to follow Zane out of the room. Maybe he would beg her and kiss her if she let him. And then he would run away with her, just like in his dreams. He looked at Hope. She knew. He managed to break two hearts tonight, an addition to his own.

"I'm sorry...", he let the tense silence consume everyone.

Hope just shook her head, grabbed two drinks from a nearby table and went out. The whole room was dead silent. Even the music has stopped. The track must have ended. Poetic, he thought.

Hope was trying to find Zane. She needed to talk to her, explain or apologize, just say something to get rid of this guilt in her chest. Because Hope knew this day was going to come, maybe a bit sooner than she wanted. Truth to be told she was aware of how Noah looked at Zane. Sure, she was angry and hurt that it turned out this way, but she knew that Noah and her weren't compatible. She wasn't stupid. He wanted everything she didn't. Some nights she would blame him for it, some nights she would think of ways to break it off. But her pride didn't let her and every single time she continued to hurt them both. She knew it wasn't just her fault but the guilt was telling her maybe she could have prevented this. Then she heard a few long sobs around the corridor, she walked hastily to see Zane on the floor. She was silent but a few sobs managed escape her mouth and she trembled. Hope got down next to her and said, "Fancy one more drink?".

Zane was surprised to find Hope next to her, offering a drink. Her anger bubbled up just for a moment but as she kept looking at Hope, she calmed down. She was better than that to blame her. She took the drink from her hand with her own trembling ones. They drank in silence for a moment. Hope sighed.

"I am sorry, Zane. I really am. I could have stopped you and Noah from hurting tonight but...", her voice got stuck.

"I just couldn't.". There wasn't any excuse she could use and feel okay with. Then she heard a laugh. Zane was laughing next to her like this was anything funny.

"What? I really don't know what's going on... Are you okay?", Hope asked with her hand on Zane's arm.

"It's just so funny to me that once again Noah didn't face his mistakes and both of us has to deal with it again." Zane chuckled.

"Do you know what's the worst though?"

Hope waited a few seconds for her to continue.

"It's not even about him loving me back anymore or him making empty promises, it's the way he always lets others deal with it. Here you are next to me, apologizing. Where is he? I have been waiting for him to build up his courage for a whole year. I gave him my word that I would wait if he promised to do this the right way. And here we are again, all three of us hurt. Does it even matter to him anymore? Do I even matter to him anymore?" Here comes the water works again, she thought.

"I am sorry..." that's all that Hope could say.

"No, you don't need to apologize for him. Ugh, I am sorry that I am putting you through this. Thank you, Hope. I mean it. I hope you find the peace and love you deserve." Zane said as she put her hand on Hope's. She smiled and got up. Hope smiled down at her hand, and started to walk back to the room.

Noah felt a hand on his shoulder, and looked at Rahim. His friend's eyes spoke a thousand words, better than Rahim could have managed to say. He walked out of the room, looking down with tears in his eyes. Just as he turned the corner to walk in the other corridor, Hope stopped him. "Noah...", he couldn't look at her, the shame didn't let him. Hope took his face in her hands and made him look.

"I love you... But we both know this wasn't going to work between us. When we want way too different things from life, when she is always a part of your heart and mind. Go. Go after her. Once in your life, be selfish and don't think about me or others. Think about her and your feelings for her." She caressed his face softly. Tears were pooling around his eyes and going down his face to meet her hands. She kissed him on his cheek and hugged him for the last time as something more than friends. He got out the building and called a taxi.

That night came back to haunt him every now and then. Even after 5 years, he couldn't let her hold on his heart and mind go. He followed her on social media and saw how happy she looked. He figured she didn't think about him anymore. She didn't dream anymore. He did.

So to see her name in his messages was surprising to say the least. After a bit of texting, they decided to meet. He suggested to meet in Romford, maybe it was a bit too much but he wanted show her his hometown. She accepted the offer.

So here he was, waiting for her in Raphael Park. He was nervous, what was she going to say? Did she keep her promise and wait or ran out of patience because of his mistakes?

"Hey Noah!" Zane shouted. It still felt surreal that she was meeting him.

5 years could change so many things. A baby would become a child, a new excitement would become a strong connection, a person would become a tombstone, and things left unsaid would become forgotten.

But he looked at her the same. And matter of fact, she looked at him the same too.

techno/jay x zane. for whatever reason i cannot see this one romantically. ACTUALLY also oppo/kai x zane. other than that i can reasonably see any popular ship being romantic with no real issue

once again jumin x zen but even then vitriolic buds and not "bros". also i don't tend to ship mc romantically with anyone but seven or jaehee because, for whatever reason, the other mc ships always feel weird

12. are there any unpopular arcs that you like?

i'm not super sure what the consensus is on each season of ninjago but i think s4 doesn't get enough credit. it's got evil kai and it's a tournament arc and those are like crack to me BUT at the same time, it's the first season that stepped out of the og villain setup of ninjago and had it's own creative and independent story, and it was very engaging and fun to watch

once again, don't really know what people like and don't like, but yoosung's route is one of my absolute favorites and i feel like is the most thrilling of the three common routes. i don't think it gets enough credit

13. unpopular opinion about x character?

personally, i don't like when people hc lloyd as ace at all because he's still a kid and obviously wouldn't show sexual or romantic attraction... idk how to articulate it per se but i don't like it at all

i don't think i have anything super controversial about zen other than my previous statements about his homophobia (mostly joking but...) not an unpopular about him per se but i wish people would consider zen x yoosung more often... they are very cute...

Zane: Getting him to agree to something while rubbing the base of his horns is the way to go with that one. He's putty in your hands when you stroke his hair or rub his scalp, but the base of his horns??? he's an agreeable mess.

Evander: Bribe him. Bribe him with food, cuddles, or sex. "if you do x for me then I'll cuddle you tonight for 4 hour-" "Deal."

Aimé: They're already super agreeable, but I think it makes it impossible for them to disagree if you make it feel important.

Nova: Hmmm... Nova is a tough one. But I think simply talking about it and being blunt is good, Nova wants to take care of you so they usually love doing the things you want. (buuut if you need to use a tactic... getting to agree while kisses are happening is good)

Kane: Just say what it is, it's done, Kane will do it. And if you give them a little smooch in exchange??? on their knees, they are so in love.
