Hey, Zofija! How about 7, 11, and 14 for the writer asks?

Hello Nia! Thanks for the ask!

7. What are your favorite characters to write for (either your own, or fanfic-wise?)

My favorite character to write Desmond. He’s just such an interesting character (they all are) and i don’t know, I just love his character voice. He’s chill but then he’ll do something violent and his persona doesn’t change. Which is so interesting to write cause Silver and Black’s emotions are all over the place. While with Desmond, he doesn’t show those emotions. All three are so different and I love it!

And with fanfiction, my favorite character to write is Wade (Deadpool). His mind is so at war with itself with White and Yellow and his self-consciousness about his skin.

11. What’s your philosophy on writing love stories?

Unless it’s fanfiction, no. 

I do write fluffy/romantic fanfiction and there is some romance (Silver Sterling/Ira) in Over Land and Sea, but it is never the main thing. And there are never really any big make out scenes or such cause for one, I can’t write that and I don’t want to. Anything more than cuddles, light kisses peppering the face, and cute nicknames makes me uncomfortable to write. I’ll read it, but I don’t like writing it. 

14. What do you like most about your writing?

I think I like the flow and descriptions of my writing most. The pacing Over Land and Sea has no plain whatsoever. It’s all based on my mood, if I think things are getting too slow -- i throw in some fast action and mystery. I like that about it cause if I feel a certain way, my readers are certainly going to feel kinda the same. It also goes well with the character development having everything be based off emotions. I’m sure there is going to be lots of this i will have to fix when editing comes along, but yeah, i really like the flow of how i write everything.

vanilla chai—do you have any hobbies that your followers don’t know about? or any hobbies that you once had, but stopped doing?

i mean i've talked a bit about music which i spend a lot of time on askdflksjdflj. i also do mock government and competitive public speaking :D which both sound incredibly nerdy but wait until you hear about competitive math (which i also do)

iced frappe—how quickly do you fall asleep? do you only go to bed when exhausted so you fall asleep quickly, or do you lay in bed with the world on your mind?

,,,,,,,, takes anywhere from 10 minutes to a few hours. i'd say average around 30 minutes? i sit at my desk for hours before i sleep with the world on my mind though :p

Hey,Zofija!  Thanks for sending the ask in! 👀👀 That’s a lot of roses!! I’ll do three lines from each of my WIPs. 

In the Shadow of the Outlands

Line 1

The night the final sorcerer died was a grave one indeed. She held on for as long as she could, knowing that once she breathed her final breath they would be free. She wanted to keep holding on 

But she was so tired. 

Line 2

The house was way bigger inside than it looked from the outside. The walls of it were lined with all kinds of bottles and glasses, each with a hastily written label on them. Various herbs and vegetation littered a table that was pushed up against the far wall of the room. In the middle of the room was a large cauldron sitting over a log fire. A woman was dumping a large vat of what I assume was water into it. She looked up at me and smiled, her large sharp teeth glinting in the light.

“Line” 3

“That damn Charlie. This is the third time this week that woman has asked for a love potion. I feel so bad for that man she’s drugging. Kids these days don’t want to solve their problems the old fashion way, always need to find a quick and easy solution..”

I hum as I move towards the coat rack and grab Sam’s jacket off of it. I start to put it on him, before speaking again.

“You say that is if you’re that much older.”

“Do I have to be old to be wise? Anyways I feel so bad for that man she’s dating… What was his name again? Jayden? Jaylen? Jayson-” Ellara taps her chin as she thinks

“Jaxon.” I pull the hair out of Sam’s jacket after I zip it up, letting the wavy raven locks fall down his back, and stand back up. 

“Jaxon that’s it! That poor man, he’s being drugged out of his mind.” She makes a sound of disapproval and shakes her head as she says this. She moves and dumps the goblin heart into the pot full of liquid. 

“If you feel so bad, stop making them for her.” I grab my shoes from the side of the door and put them back on as I start to make my way out of the front door. 

“And lose a valuable customer and my credibility? Absolutely not! I am a businesswoman and have to make a living.”

“Then stop complaining about it,” I reply matter-of-factly

Specter

Line 1

“Sorry Ma, had to let Pumpkin back in.”  Melanie shuts the screen door behind the cat coming inside. He sprints over toward his filled food and water bowl and begins to devour his breakfast. 

Line 2

“I’m so proud of you, sweet pea. Ever since you were born and we saw the Blessing of Ashara on you, we knew-

“That I was gonna be a ghost-hunter I know Mama.”

“Not just any ghost-hunter, one of the best.”

“Right, how could I forget.” Melanie smiles again, then glances down at her hands. 

Line 3

Sadie tells me to take a seat and Melanie sits down on one of the empty couches and fold her hands on her lap waiting for instructions. She feels people looking at her, most likely in curiosity. The chances of running into a Senser is one in a million, so she couldn’t really blame them for staring. She tries her hardest to ignore their gazes and turns her attention to the handout Sadie handed her when she walked in.

A is for Asteroid

Line 1

A trickle of blood streamed from Alex’s head from where a stray piece of glass had cut him. Alex sat back and looked down at the two girls tucked underneath of him. They were currently shaking like leaves. 

Line 2

He looked around the room. Skylar had gotten up off the ground and was checking over the boy in her hands. Rubbing his head and shushing him as he sobbed into her shoulder.

Line 3

“Turn the radio on.” The sound of Matthews’s voice made Alex turn around. He was visibly anxious, a clear contrast to his normal laid back demeanor.

The Space Exploration Association

Line 1 

She looked at her android partner, Jax. His synthetic skin was fair, short brown hair seated neatly on his head. Not a strand out of place. Freckles were placed symmetrically on his cheeks, with an unnecessary pair of glasses Adhara brought for him seated on his face.

Line 2

Fat chance of that, thought Adhara. The Faicrer galaxy was notorious for its barren worlds. The planets were mostly made of rocks, dust, and volcanoes. The only plants found on those planets were cacti and desert flowers . Finding new life on these planets was extremely rare, which is why S.P.E.X.A designated these planets to rookie explorers.

Line 3

"But if we are on the wrong planet they'll tell us to come back immediately! We won't have anything to show and we'll be the only explorers in history to come back empty-handed." Adhara exclaimed. 

"That isn't true there have been twenty explorers on record who have come back with nothing after an exploration. And coming back empty-handed is better than coming back dead." Jax said bluntly.

pisces, libra, Taurus for the zodiac writing asks!!

taurus: how long will you spend on a story or scene before you give up?

So far I haven't had to give up on a scene, I mean, I've backtracked and taken breaks from trying to get a scene to work, sometimes changed, the order or the weather or the mood, heck sometimes I just open a blank document and begin the scene without being able to see how it is supposed to flow, and so far I haven't had to give up.

libra: how do you balance writing and life? do you ever feel overwhelmed by the amount of writing you have to do?

I do sometimes get overwhelmed by the amount of not just writing, but planning and world building and everything around the actual act of writing. I balance life and writing by just prioritising I guess, I only write once everything that is necessary is done.

pisces: how do you visualize scenes? do you see it like a movie in your head, or do the words just flow?

I visualise, all the time, I can just see the expression and scenery and hear the voices and background noise, the hardest part for me is knowing what to include and what to omit.

2. Can they take care of a plant? What about a pet? What about a child?

Child: yes. Pet: maybe with assistance. Depends on what the pet is. Plant: probably not. She’d find them too fickle and finicky and difficult to predict what they needed.

(Ironically, she’s in love with Celena, who not only loves plants but Iliana also finds very fickle and difficult to predict what she needs)

4. Do they look good in red?

[Sharp, sloping cheekbones; knowing brown eyes staring out from beneath elegantly-arched eyebrows; a sculpted, perfect nose; and a sensuous, inviting mouth painted in bold, deep red combine to create a face of astonishing, splendid beauty.]

[She has switched her violet gown out for one of glimmering wine-red, scattered with black and white glitter—]

[“They aren’t going to bite, Celena.”

I’m reminded of Iliana’s gleaming white teeth, flashing as her red mouth formed into that feline smile, and feel inclined to disagree.]

To answer the question: yes.

11. They’ve won the lottery. Spend, or save?

I mean, she’s already pretty damn rich, so I don’t know how much of a difference it would make to her life. She’d probably spend it.

21. What would it take for them to break up with someone? What would be the last straw?

Any kind of disrespect gets her blood boiling. Along the same lines, a partner being condescending, or feeling insecure because of her talents/accomplishments and needing her to tone herself down for their ego, would get them kicked to the curb so fast they’d get whiplash.

If your character had to choose one favorite memory, what would it be? How about their worst memory? Why would they pick these two memories? 

Hello again fairy! I’m gonna answer for Tonya cause I love her and I haven’t talked about her yet!

favorite memory

Her favorite memory was when she was welcomed into the crew. The years before she joined were hard on her, there were no solids, nothing was forever. The earth was liquid, and, as ironic this may be, when she became a pirate, things became solid. It was like stepping on land for the first time after a long while. It was taking a deep breath after short spurts. It was being welcomed into a family. A family who was just as odd and broken as she was. Together, from that point on, they helped heal and mend the broken pieces. 

worst memory

Her worst memory was when she found her friend dead. She turned to her friend for help and while helping Tonya, her friend went down a deep pit. Her friend never really showed the truth, making it hard for people to help. And when Tonya found her, she saw the signs. Hindsight is a bitch and it struck Tonya hard. Her worst memory was going back a seeing what she could have done, what she should’ve know, how to help. But it was too late, and it was a punch to the gut. 

Thank you, OC fairy!! I truly love to talk about my OCs!! I know this is sad, but they all have really sad backstories. I don’t know what happened, but I gave them all trauma in some way. I didn’t mean to! I swear!

H: What’s your favorite under-appreciated novel?

Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes. I have no idea if it counts but like, it’s my favorite series. It’s a high/dark fantasy series and it interwinds medieval, magic, a bit of enemies to lovers, war, lots of trauma, and I could go on and on about it. But I won’t. It’s beautiful *chefs kiss*

Y: Are your characters based off of people you know? Yourself? Or no one at all?

uhhhhhhh... everyone??? Each of my characters is kinda based off me, but kinda subconsciously. I don’t realize I do it until i go back and I that’s when i notice that i just projected on 15 different people. It’s not good. But, Desmond is practically myself. So, when you read his intro, it’s practically me listing things i like and dislike and my personality. So I definitely add myself into my characters.

But then at the same time, I think I add in a lot of my friends personality into them too. Like, Tonya and Ironside, are mainly based off my best friend. Every character who knows how to play an instrument is based off her. All of my characters are based off of someone, even if it’s someone that i don’t really know. Soberski, he’s based off a dude who I’ve gone to school with since third grade but we’re not friends. So it’s weird.

My weekend has been good! Busy, I felt like I was running around doing stuff constantly, but it was good nonetheless! I was able to reach my writing goal (1,000 words) for both days and I’m really happy with it!!

ooh~ what's war within :-)

War Within is my excuse to create a super complicated government and kingdom. I have characters for it, but no plot whatsoever. 

There are three categories that people can fall in and it’s all based on if you were blessed by a god or not. Whatever your symbol is is how people know what category you fall into, if no symbol, you’re Unblessed. 

The Unblessed -- they’re the lowest on the scale (third rank), the common folk, and they have no extraordinary powers. They make up the most of the population but are still put beneath the Blessed. 

Warriors -- Blessed by Nox (The God of Night), Second rank, they have the symbol of the phoenix, extraordinary strength, they are the soldiers and guards for the kingdom

Chiefs -- Blessed by Lux (god of Day), First rank, super wise, mainly the royals and leaders, their symbol is the elephant

I have more than that but that’s the basic gist. If I find a solid plot for this world, I definitely want to come back to it. But for now, it’s sitting on my shelf collecting dust.
