Shadow High OCs Bio 8 (Final): Blake Luz

COLOUR: Platinum

BIO: Ruff, tuff, tall, and buff, Blake is an upperclassman athlete whose unbeatable inverted biker look shows everyone within a mile radius who’s boss. He’s a mixed media focus who specializes in designing the freshest, edgiest decals for cars and motorbikes, and you better believe he’s got a Class M license and a sick ride of his own. Growing up as a foster kid in Boulder City, he had to learn quicker than most his age to rely on himself and be his own strength. Blake’s dreams of recognition and respect came true when he was accepted to Shadow High on a partial scholarship thanks to his amazing auto body work making the rounds of the west coast and his decal art videos exploding in popularity online. Far from the troublemaker and emotional time bomb he used to be as a freshman, his experiences have helped him grow into a role model of sorts for his younger classmates. Like a moody older brother, he can be hard on the underclassmen, but they all know he’ll stick up for them when they need it.

OTHER:

-He’s 18 and from Boulder City, Nevada.

-His sport of choice is football.

-Thrifts and bargain-hunts a lot of his clothes and accessories, but splurges on art supplies.

-Though normally chill and deadpan, he uses his intimidating vibe in service of the underdog and the outcast. He’s got such a reputation as a protector and school vigilante that any and all bullying stops dead in its tracks as soon as he’s in the vicinity. Even the Storm twins give him a pretty wide berth.

-Candy’s crush on him makes him uncomfortable, since she’s technically still a kid while he’s practically an adult.

-For accessories, Blake’s all about belts, chains, studs, shades, and fingerless gloves.

-One of his favourite classes was Nail Art, and he was able to create a number of metallic, industrial manicure looks based on his decal work. He doesn’t ever do his own nails apart from a simple coat of black or white, though, since long acrylics are a driving hazard waiting to happen.

-He’s known Nyxie since freshman year, and he attends all her runway shows and she in turn models his nail art. Their support and admiration for each other are purely platonic.

-Glam metal is his guilty pleasure.

-Is more or less the cool-but-irresponsible big brother type with underclassmen. He once caught Ruby Anderson grafitti-ing under the stands during a Shadow High vs Rainbow High football game, but instead of ratting her out decided to join in. (Thanks @sunshine7eyes)

Shadow High OCs Bio 7: Tara Rajneesh

BIO: Professional triple threat (and amateur astrologist) Tara Rajneesh rules the Performing Arts scene at Shadow High and shines not just like a star, but like a whole constellation on stage. Though her creativity is unbounded and her performing choices are always bold, she can barely do anything in her day-to-day life without first consulting her horoscope. She loves to be the centre of attention, and thanks to her standout energy and eccentric personality it just kind of happens naturally. A thespian at heart, Tara has no interest in film acting, and prefers the inherent transitive quality that only the stage can offer. As for which roles she likes best, lead roles are great, and villains are even better! She’s starred in plenty of productions back in her home city of Chicago, but her dream is to play the Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute at the Met.

OTHER:

-Tara’s one of those girls who has a different boyfriend every month because of some drama or another, to the great interest of Candy.

-Her parents are both from Hyderabad, India, but she was born in Chicago.

-Her clothes are relatively simple, usually stretchy and form-fitting due to her practically living on stage and needing to move for blocking. This doesn’t stop Tara from accessorizing as much as possible with sparkling, glittering, star-studded bangles, necks, and hair pins.

-She gets along with Dia Mante and Glitch Crowne, bonding over music and the stage.

-Much to her classmates’ annoyance, she’ll sometimes read them their horoscopes unprompted and/or dragoon them into a tarot-reading session.

-To de-stress, she likes to go stargazing. She’s even got a telescope.

-Though she definitely gives off diva vibes, it’s mostly because she’s usually in her own head and feels every emotion at 200% at all times. By no means is she rude, snobby, or even intentionally selfish, in fact she runs a student support group on the side for classmates to gather and vent about school-related stress.

-She likes modern musicals well enough, especially dramatic ones, but her first love is opera.

-She sings coloratura soprano and is a seasoned actor, but struggled a bit with dancing.

BIO: Having spent the first fourteen years of her life with her grandparents in the Irish countryside, Niamh was raised on all sorts of spooky awesome folktales about crafty fairies, shape-shifting animals, and greedy pumpkin men—all of which continue to inspire her. She’s a creative writing focus whose genres of choice are fantasy and horror, and the supernatural tales in her award-winning short stories and classic poems are based on the type of stories she grew up hearing at bedtime. At Shadow High, Niamh is known as a huge gossip and a bit of a trickster, fond of blowing school urban legends out of proportion (and making up a few of her own) with her twisted tale-telling skills. Even if it freaks some people out, she genuinely means no harm, and just likes to share as many of her ideas as possible and contribute to the culture of Shadow High in her own special way. After all, who doesn’t love a good story?

-She’s sixteen and was born in Limerick, Ireland, but spent most of her life living with her grandparents in County Mayo.

-She has several classes with Scarlett Rose, and while they’re not super close, they’re happy to be each other’s beta readers.

-She’s a huge fan of moody classical music (think Chopin), and she’s been playing the cello for two years and the piano for six.

-Her (unrequited) crush is Eliza McFee.

-Her outfit inspo comes from nu goth and hippie goth subcultures, with flowing sleeves and skirts and huge hats.

-She definitely still writes creepypastas, but only posts the ones she deems “not quite good enough” to go in a published short story collection. She posts them anonymously under the handle cailleach_of_beara.

-Apart from short stories, Niamh also loves writing classical poetry. Her most well-known work is a series of poems called “Lady Winter”, based on her experiences travelling from the wide-open countryside of Ireland to the bustling crowded cities of the west coast US.

-She has a strong belief in ghosts, spirits, and the paranormal, and the way she sees it, ghosts gain more power from human fear and above all, their notoriety (i.e. the more people spread legends and rumours about spirits, the more powerful they become).

BIO: The EDM prodigy sensation from Harajuku is now in the States, and the trip hasn’t slowed them down at all. Hotaru Yoruno, or NiteLite as they’re known on Spotify, brings an experimental, unique sound to Shadow High’s music scene. Combining discordant pianos/violins and eerie synthesized vocals with backing tracks including things like old handset ringtones, heart monitors, and computer error sounds, Hotaru’s music style is best described as something out of a weird dream, and their listeners like it that way. In Hotaru’s mind, every musical rule has a loophole, and music theory doesn’t equal music fact. They draw their inspo mostly from underground lo-fi artists and Vocaloid producers from the dark side of NicoNicoDouga, which adds a definite nostalgic edge to their work. Most people don’t know that Hotaru is actually a decent vocalist in their own right, but they lack the confidence to put that much of themself in their work. Maybe someday…but not without some serious audio filtering.

OTHER:

-Hailing from the Harajuku district in Tokyo, they’re fifteen years old.

-Yes, they’ve used UTAU at least twice in their music composition (they haven’t used vocaloid yet but their favourites are Iroha, Piko, and vflower).

-Their closest friend is Wyn, even providing music for xir animations, and the two may be developing a mutual crush.

-They’re passionate about webcore, nostalgiacore, analog horror, and old flash games and cartoons.

Shadow High OCs Bio 4: Velia Trafford

COLOUR PALETTE: Bioluminescence

BIO: Raised by her aunt Doris and her husband, renowned marine biologist Dr. Trafford, Velia decided to take her own interest in the deep sea in a different direction. Having spent hours as a kid in her uncle’s lab sketching his most exotic specimens, she developed a talent for visual arts and a dark, otherworldly art style that was eventually noticed by Shadow High. She’s focusing in visual arts and continues to amaze her teachers and classmates with her speculative paintings and 3D-printed sculptures of the kind of nightmare-worthy sea life that lurks in the darkest depths of the ocean. She’s even added these ideas and motifs to her personal style (like her custom headband inspired by the lure of the anglerfish) so everybody knows she’s a force of darkness to be reckoned with. In spite of the unorthodox creative path she’s chosen, her aunt and uncle couldn’t be prouder of her.

OTHER:

-She’s 17 years old and from Delaware.

-Likes sci-fi, gaming, and loud rave music. Definitely has an emergency supply of glow sticks.

-She’s used to being called a nerd for her interest in marine biology and her tendency to stay indoors to draw or study, but she’s only recently begun to accept it and become proud of it. Revamping her look has definitely increased her confidence.

-The Storm Twins derisively nicknamed her “the creep from the deep”, which backfired as Velia actually likes the epithet and sometimes even uses it to refer to herself ironically.

-Recently she enrolled in an extra art chemistry class and joined the science club, with the aim of learning all she needs to know to create her own line of glow-in-the-dark paints. (She’s thinking about calling her brand “Lure”.)

-She’s not just passionate about the aesthetic of sea life, but their continued survival too. She spends her winter breaks doing art pieces for marine pollution awareness campaigns.

-Is good friends with Zooey Electra.

-She has a system where she treats herself to a new face piercing every time she gets an A on a test or project, and as a result has more piercings than almost everyone at Shadow High. It’s a great way to stay motivated, but she’s running out of areas to pierce…

-She and Coral Navarre (Rainbow High OC) are fans of each other’s work. Velia wants to be the chief set designer for Coral’s next ballet while Coral wants to design costumes based on Velia’s artworks.

Hello everyone.

Since today marks the start of Neurotypical Awareness Month, I would like to take this time to share how the vaccine-caused disease called neurotypicalism affects me, personally, even though I’m not neurotypical, and equally I would like you to connect and share how all of you have been affected in your life by the behaviours of those poor, unfortunate people who suffer from being off the spectrum.

Though this disease is more common in boys, some girls suffer with it, too, and it’s estimated that it affects an astonishing 67 of every 68 people. Some of us have neurotypical relatives, some have friends or acquaintances who are affected by this pitiful condition. And every day, we normal folks struggle to understand why they put us through what they do, these people whom we love dearly but will never be able to communicate with. And it’s especially important for us to remember how hard it must be for parents to have to deal with their neurotypical children, who exhibit embarrassing behaviour such as

-Speaking in loud, grating voices.

-Not having any special interests.

-Throwing fits of rage when asked to turn their music down or not talk so loudly with their friends.

-Speaking in vague, unclear language and never explaining what they mean.

-Turning helpful stimming devices for autistics into cringe memes.

And countless more humiliating displays of abnormality, even in public. Sure, it’s probably hard for them that they have to live in a world where nobody understands them and hardly anybody even bothers to try, but we don’t care about that because they’re not like us. Let’s instead focus on their parents and what they go through, because even though they’re not the ones with the disability, it should be all about them.

As perfectly normal autistic individuals, there are things we can do to help the neurotypical individuals in our lives. As a Christian, I fully believe that each and every one of us is here for the purpose of spreading kindness and love, and sometimes, God sends us angels in the form of neurotypicals to test our patience and kindness, and to see how we really treat the weakest members of our community. People with neurotypicalism are not like us. Even as adults, they have the minds of young children. And though we will never fully understand them, we can help them in our own, non-problematic, non-patronizing way. Neurotypicalism speaks, and it’s time to listen. And by listen, I mean not listen, but form our own warped conclusions based on shaky, superficial evidence and outdated research.

So please, send your donations, however large, to me, so that I can send them to psychological research centres to fund a cure for neurotypicalism, and definitely not so I can buy PS5s in bulk and sell them online at double the price, trust me.

Shadow High OCs Bio 3: Wyn LeBlanc

BIO: A first-year student who was accepted to Shadow High on a partial scholarship for xir incredible talents in traditional animation. Wyn may seem lazy and disconnected on the surface, but in truth xe is just so focused on xir art and the constant whirlwind of ideas in xir head that xe forgets where xe is a lot of the time. Wyn’s one of those people who can get lost in xir art for days on end, even setting alarms to remind xir to eat, shower, sleep, and go to class. Xir independent animated series, Fallen Angels, about a group of angels who accidentally get stuck on Earth, is all completely hand-drawn with care in gorgeous abstract detail by Wyn xirself. Hailing from South Boston, this inkblot angel isn’t all feathers and halos, and has a hidden tough side that only comes out when xe is pushed to the absolute limit of xir patience.

OTHER:

-Xe based Fallen Angels on xir own experiences (i.e. living in a world that xe feels like xe doesn’t belong in and needing an escape).

BIO: From polka-dot poodle skirts to rock n’ roll to cream sodas in glass bottles, Candy’s aesthetic is all about the 50s. She specializes in classic makeup looks and hairstyles with an edgy modern twist. Dark eyes, big hair, and perfectly shaped red lips are her signature features, but she’s not afraid to branch out a little from time to time to keep her style fresh. Her peppy, optimistic attitude means she can hang with pretty much anyone and gets along with all kinds of people. It’s what earned her the nickname “the sweetheart of Shadow High” (along with her massive sweet tooth!). A lot of her fashion inspo comes from vintage candy shops, but her sugary personality is anything but artificial.

OTHER:

-She was born in New Jersey and is 16 years old.

-Her favourite thing to eat is red and black licorice.

-She loves all kinds of sweets, to the point where she’s not above tacky candy-scented perfume. However this has its destructive side, and she was once suspended for being caught “smoking” (she just avoided expulsion when it turned out it was one of those old-fashioned fake bubblegum cigarettes covered in sugary powder).

-Her prized possession is a collection of old vinyl rock n’ roll records and the record player she got for her sweet 16.

-She’s a hopeless romantic, and is crushing on at least three boys (including Blake). She also has a tendency to get overly invested in the romances of her classmates regardless of gender, but she means well and doesn’t think feelings should be bottled up.

-She and Wyn bond over vintage animation (classic Disney, the Fleischer Brothers, Popeye, etc). She has similar friendships with Heather Grayson and Demi Batista due to their shared interest in old movies.

BIO: Make way for a legend. Nyxie’s in her fourth year, and after working harder than anyone for three full years at Shadow High and a summer studying abroad in Milan, she’s earned the respect and awe of her classmates. Nobody can deny her talent or her charisma, and though they project the image of a high-and-mighty brooding loner, in truth they’re a natural leader. Easy to talk to but hard to impress, this year she’s TAing for two styling classes, on the lookout for promising underclassmen who embody the ideals of Shadow High and are willing to take their effort and their skills to the next level. Nyxie’s built to last through pressure, setbacks, and all kinds of drama, but as soon as they graduate they’re looking forward to taking a gap year to relax in their home city of Vancouver before focusing on turning their brand into a fashion empire.
