synopsis. At the age of 22, Yang Jungwon wants to retire. The ice, which was what he considered his second home, does not seem as welcoming as it used to be. Figure skating is no longer fun - the sport that he devoted his entire childhood to seems more of a chore, rather than a passion. He claims that this season will be his last as a competitive figure skater - that is, until he meets you, who somehow makes him fall in love with the ice (and you) again.

author’s note. gosh. am i surprised that the most i’ve ever written is a figure skating fic? no, not particularly. i was watching so many of yuzuru hanyu’s programs while writing this and oh god. only fanyus will understand the immense impact the beat drop into the stsq has in pyc seimei. fucking hell that’s powerful. anyways, this fic is my baby and i hope you enjoy it as much as i enjoyed writing it ^_^ here’s a playlist u can listen to while reading if you’d like and feel free to lmk what u think!

Jungwon thinks that he has two.

First, he would obviously say his apartment. The plush couch, the comfort of his own bed, and sunlight peeking through the curtains in the morning – Jungwon is comfortable when he is home. 

His second home, albeit a little bit unconventional – is the ice skating rink. His blades gliding against the smooth ice, cool air hitting his face as he skates, the chatter of his training partners ringing in his ears when he’s trying to focus that he finds annoying when he’s trying to focus.

heeseung - when he first sees it he’s in shock, (internally) because all he says outside is like “you look nice” which lowkey hurts your feelings because like does he think you look ugly or sum?? 🤨🤨 but like he doesn’t want to be teased by you because he thinks your so cute!! like he can’t stop looking at you and he thinks he’s discreet about it (but he’s not) so you confront him about it and he finally admits that he thinks you are the cutest, prettiest person alive and he keeps like pinching your cheek.

jay - hes the one that helped you pick your glasses out. so when you grab the one and put it on he knows it’s the cutest one on you, he steals the glasses from your hand and asks for those frames with your prescription. while you wait for them to be ready it’s all he can think about honestly. like he could be in the middle of working and think “y/n with glasses is so cute 🥰🥰” like this sounds really unrealistic but I DONT CARE 😜😜 and when u get the glasses he’s more excited than you! he quickly takes a photo of you with the glasses so he can put it as his lock screen and he looks at it and smiles every time ☹️☹️

jake - hes actually like jumping once he sees you, he like cups your face and looks into your eyes because he thinks youre so pretty :( he cannot get enough if you bro. and he’s so clingy afterwards like he can’t be away from you! also he like steals your glasses to put them on and like poses for you like “do i look good y/n? maybe i should get glasses” and he tells everyone he knows about them like “did you know y/n got glasses!?” UGH I LOVE THIS MAN.

sunghoon - he teases you for it, like he calls u four eyes and everything. but he doesn’t think you notice his lingering stares or him hugging you more often but you do. the thing is he’s too shy to upright tell you the glasses look so cute on you, so he does the opposite and teases you about them. he finally breaks his mask when you pretend to be sad because you think he doesn’t like them and he showers you in compliments and explains himself, to find out it was a prank 😠😠, he tickles you until you sincerely apologise.

sunoo - once he sees you, he fr starts squealing bro, like “ahhh y/nnie! you’re soo cute!! i’m going to die!!” and like kisses your cheek a bunch :((. he takes a selfie w/ you immediately and puts it as his wallpaper :(. he sometimes accidentally touches the lenses of your glasses and you get (jokingly) mad at him and he’s like “y/n-ah im sorry ☹️☹️” and you HAVE to forgive him bc he’s so cute!!

jungwon - when you walk in he literally starts blushing. like you? in GLASSES??? he just stares at you until you’re like “what? is it bad?” and he’s like “no not at all babe, you look so gorgeous!” and he thinks you HAVE to show him what you can see now so he makes you try to read a book from far away and you’re like “jungwon i can’t see that! i don’t think anyone can 😠😠” and he just giggles and moves it farther until you start laughing with him :)

niki - similar to sunghoon he has to tease you like he calls you a nerd and also calls you four eyes. especially if you’re like a reader he teases you to the max! like “can’t believe i’m dating a nerd 🙄🙄” and you’re like 😐. he also like takes you’re glasses and is like “y/n what number is this?” and he puts his hand in front of you like right in your face thinking you can’t see that? (obvi he knows but as a joke) and you’re like “niki be fr” and he rolls his eyes and goes back to whatever he’s doing. but when you aren’t paying attention, he takes a picture of you reading and puts it in his home screen as a widget.

✧. ┊heeseung .. .

he becomes such a shy baby when you surprise him with a back hug! quite literally the epitome of ㅇㅅㅇ. will get flustered, blushing a cute pink colour, and will shyly ask what you're doing. when you reply, "just wanted to give you a hug," he swears he feels his heart melting. heeseung will eventually overcome his flustered state to start caressing your arms wrapped around his middle, smiling gently when he hears you sigh with contentment.

usually, he's taken by surprise, because you give him backhugs when he's cooking or something. he might jolt a bit, eyebrows jumping, because you startled him. but then he looks down to see your arms around his tummy, and his face goes soft because he loves you so much! undoubtedly lifts one of your hands to his mouth so he can give the fingertips a tender kiss.

jakey simply cannot hide his pleased smile, he's so infatuated with you! for a moment, he just basks in the warmth of your hug, fighting back the goofy grin trying to come to his face. then he'll reach his arms around his back so he can awkwardly hug you back, giggling along with you when you start laughing.

our ice prince immediately freezes up - he  doesn't know what to do. hoon's instant defense mechanism for such emotion is to tease. so he does, playfully making fun of you for being obsessed with him. but the second you release him, he'll spin around and kiss your forehead, smiling shyly whilst you giggle.

he's such a happy, sunshiney baby! sunoo will giggle when he feels your arms slide around his waist, and he definitely blushes bright red. will try and keep your arms trapped around his middle even when you try to let go. 

"no! you're stuck here with me forever~!" 

he'll make the cutest uwu face when you playfully whine at him to let you go, and suddenly… being stuck here with him forever doesn't sound like such a bad thing.

wonnie completely shuts down. he won't know what on earth to do. should he say thank you? should he hug you back?  jungwon winds up just smiling shyly and settling his hands gently on top of yours. his heart and mind are absolutely whirling, imagining how adorable you must look trying to circle his body with your arms. shy baby can't help but giggle a bit timidly when he feels your cheek against his back!

this little (giant) menace clicks his tongue in a display of irritation, and might even roll his eyes so hard you can feel it. but you can also feel his heart thrumming when you lift your hands to his chest, so you know it's all an act. he just likes teasing you, because he will never admit how flustered you make him feel. will unwrap your arms so he can spin around and attack you with teases, tickles, and kisses.

11:39AM — “thank you, please come again ma’am!” your customer service smile falters as soon as yet another middle aged woman rushes out with her americano, resting against the counter with a groan.

a giggle emits from your co-worker’s lips while he grounds down more coffee beans, side-eyeing your exhausted frown with amusement.

“did you stay up til’ 1am thinking about flower shop boy again?” sunoo inquires knowingly. your eyes widen at his perfect prediction, eliciting another chuckle from the silver haired boy.

you huff, “jungwon is not just some.. some shop boy! he’s the love of my life sun, he just doesn’t know it yet.” you mumble the last part with a pout, adjusting your apron stubbornly.

“mhm, your three interactions that consisted of both of you failing to make eye contact says otherwise.”

before you could (attempt to) defend yourself, the bell above the café’s entrance jingles, signalling a new customer’s entry.

frantically, you smooth down your attire and straighten your posture, turning back to face the customer. “hello, welcome to—“

you freeze, momentarily stunned as none other than the topic of your conversation from mere seconds ago walks in. jungwon looks strangely nervous, fidgetting with his sweater sleeve as he meets your eyes, keeping one of his hands hidden behind his back. you notice that he’s still wearing his brown gardening gloves paired with an adorable sun hat that nearly makes you burst into tears, big boba eyes resembling a deer caught in headlights as he ever so slowly walks closer.

“j-jungwon, what’re you doing here?” you inwardly scold yourself for stuttering, resisting the urge to turn around and slap sunoo when you hear his distant snickering.

the boy gulps, at last arriving at the ordering counter and much to close for you to handle. “uh well- i’m on my uh- lunch break right now and i was just..” he looks around the café, swallowing again, “just wondering if you’d uh- wanna go somewhere with me once your break starts?”

sunoo nearly chokes in the background, disguising it as a very awkward, concerning cough. “oh,” jungwon’s brows furrow as he looks around you, “is.. he okay?”

you quickly clear your throat to divert his attention away from your choking friend, even if you secretly felt like reacting the exact same way your co-worker did. “don’t worry, he does that sometimes. anyways, i’d love to,” you beam, though still in disbelief. “we can plan it all out once my break starts, just give me like, thirty minutes tops!”

in response, jungwon nods happily, a soft blush on his cheeks and ears as his dimple pokes through. “s-sounds great!” suddenly, his eyes widen, as if he’d just remembered something crucial. “oh, and this is for you, but it’s okay if you don’t want it, really,” he insists, hands hastily moving behind his back to reveal a small, delicate red rose.

you feel like you could die happy at that very moment. “oh gosh, you didn’t have to won! thank you, i love it!”

as soon as you’ve plucked the flower from his hands, fingers gracing his own ever so slightly, jungwon bows, quickly walking backwards in a blushy mess. “yeah uh- of course! see you soon, y/n!”

sunoo shakes his head as you watch him run out with hearts in your eyes, still unmoving with the rose in your grip. “geez, you blubbering idiots are so perfect for each other, it disgusts me.”

you roll your eyes, “yeah, well, you better start supporting this relationship, because i heard jungwon’s co-workers are almost as pretty as he is.”

sunoo’s eyes sparkle in interest, “sign me the hell up.”

at first you were a bit unsure since well, with your cramps you just wanted to curl into a ball and sleep

but after some more convincing

you realised the fun distraction was helping much more than trying to sleep

an hour went by with you and your boyfriend taking pictures and laughing at each other in bright green face masks

the selfies you took were chefs kiss as usual, queue the new matching instagram pfps <3

then while you waited for the masks to dry, you painted each others nails purple and blue (yes, you convinced sunoo to have matching nails with you 🫶)

by the end of the night you’ve almost completely forgotten about the cramps digging into you ✊

whenever you ask sunoo to buy you menstrual supplies he’s just the biggest sweetheart

the most enthusiastic “sure!!” you can imagine paired with that pure smile of his 💔

mr perfect is also the most educated out of all of them

the clerk ends up describing literally every single box there with detail and the whole time your poor boyfriend is just nodding in utter confusion

at this point he was even more lost than before, if they were all so amAZING like this lady said, how was he supposed to pick just one?

“and that’ll be sixty eight dollars and seventy cents, please.”

niki gulps, looking down at his basket filled to the brim with literally just pads

when he got back.. oh boy

“are you fucking kidding me? what is all that?!” you exclaim, watching your boyfriend walk over with two whole grocery bags in his hands

“uh, in my defense this lady was a really good salesperson and well..”

when he opened the bag for you to look inside while murmuring the amount he spent, you nearly fainted right there, immediately scolding him

“that’s it, you’re officially banned from going shopping for me.”

“what!? babe, please! give me another chance, next time i’ll only get one i swear, seriously!”

next time niki actually did do a good job and got ONE pad box instead of ten, you were so proud <3

and he even brought some snacks back along the way!!
