VIPIRG conference
Any QTBIPOC folks going to the VIPIRG conference this weekend in Victoria? I’m heading there Saturday morning to catch the Janet Mock Dialogue in the evening. I am super stoked to be present and hear her speak and also to chat with her. I think it will be a great evening and looking forward to it. Message me if you wanna hang out. I’m super intorverted and am excited to take a mini getaway and trip.
I’m staying in a male dorm for the night and kinda feeling nervous about that. Any advice/experiences folks wanna share? Thanks

The Washington Post Style Guide Now Accepts Singular ‘They’
(via The Washington Post Style Guide Now Accepts Singular ‘They’ | Mental Floss)
I’ve been using ‘they’ in the singular form when writing healthcare curriculums, and also in a peer-reviewed journal article that I co-authored. I love the freedom that it allows, and can’t wait to see this adopted more widely as acceptable in singular form.

Yesterday, October 19th 2015, marked my three years in testosterone. So much has changed in the past three years, not only physically, and I’m unbelievably happy with where my life is going. I feel very blessed to have been able to take this path.

This Trans Teen’s Parents Tried To “Fix” Him By Sending Him To India
“My parents thought there was something wrong with me because I wasn’t living my life the way they wanted. I didn’t fit the mold,” Bhatt explained. “They told me that I would eventually get an arranged marriage to a man.”
On September 10, the Indian queer resource group Nazariya helped Bhatt escape his family. The activists also provided Bhatt with legal counsel and shelter. That’s when things got complicated. Bhatt’s parents filed a complaint with the local police. Bhatt and supporters said his father, who he says is relatively wealthy and well-connected, used his power and influence to harass the activists.

B.C. Announces Increased Funding for Trans Surgeries
So apparently the BC government just announced at CPATH will be providing funding for aftercare for trans people after surgeries (I`m assuming this means they will be funding our stays at the Montreal Hospital) and also will be doubling top surgery funding for 2016. This is really good news and I hope they hold up to this.

on the intersection of transness and being sick/disabled
***CW: talks about disability and medical system*** hey there, it's me, Zain. I know I haven't written here in awhile. I have been going through a pretty difficult. time lately. Over the course of the summer, I've been on and off a different range and doses of meds for my chronic pain because I was having so much trouble sleeping. I have been having difficulty writing and verbalizing my experience with even those closest to me . I didn't know exactly where to begin, and I also felt exhausted and let down from the medical industrial complex about my sick and disabled body. I found out some pretty important info though. I've been seeing physiotherapists, doctors, specialists, doing all types of tests over the last 6 years since my chronic pain began and a majority of the time, I felt let down because of the myths that doctors and medical staff would. make about me (ex: "oh but you're too young to be sick and disabled" etc) and I have felt beyond tired. Over the spring and summer, I began to read as much as I could about fibromyalgia. I'm still continuing to read and learn more and talk to chronically sick and disabled folks about their experiences. I then talked to my doctor about fibro as well as my naturopath. My doctor believes I have fibro and I feel she has been a true ally in holding truth to my experiences, advocating for my access to health care and just being kickass in general - and I feel like it's so rare to have a doctor who advocates for trans and disabled folks and really takes that extra step. I have been hiding a lot, from the world, from my. chosen family, from everything because I sometimes feel like I don't know what to do or how to talk about it. I hide in my bed, in my bedroom, at home because this is my safety. My alter is there, my cozy bed, Netflix, my partner, my big sister and her partner. Hiding is kind of what I need right now, and also I don't want to be isolated. I want to make safety and connection, I just haven't figure out how to do both as yet. I'm sorry if I've been MIA, and I truly appreciate those in my chosen fam who stick around, even when I don't have any words left. love in my heart, Zain

Help an artist in debt -
Hi guys, I’ll keep it brief. I was recently hospitalized against my will in a hospital that doesn’t accept the insurance I currently have, and I was kicked out without receiving the necessary treatment. In addition to still struggling with my symptoms, I was pressured to quit my job and now I owe the hospital 3000 dollars that I don’t have. I can’t ask my family for help, so I’m offering greatly reduced prices for commissions to help raise money to pay this off.
I cannot draw:
furries
sexual content
excessively detailed backgrounds (I have to trot these out quickly)
I can draw:
anything else - including all body types, original characters, monsters, and gemsonas!
All payments go through PayPal. My pricing is as follows -
One headshot colored sketch of a character is 8 USD.
One full shot colored sketch of a character is 12 USD.
One full illustration of a simple character with limited background is 20 USD.
One full illustration of a complicated character with limited background is 25 USD.
One painted sketch of a character is 25 USD for a medium shot, and 30 USD for a full shot.
If you’d like to donate, contact me privately.
Please consider purchasing from me, or at least boosting this so I can pay off my medical bills. All payments go through PayPal. Thank you!

hey folks, I had a question. Recently, I went for a check in with my doctor who has helped me have access to testosterone, and she was telling me that even if I have changed my gender marker legally in bc, in the MSP system, if I go to the hospital or go to the doctors when they type my health card number in, my gender marker will still say “f” even though on my card it says “m”. I feel really upset and confused because this totally puts people in vulnerable, dangerous and unsafe situations and I am feeling pretty outraged. Are there other trans* folks in bc who know more about this and can share/help me advocate to get rid of this?
thanks, appreciate your help and support with this

Tbh maybe you should trim or shave your armpit hairs. They seem to be growing out of control. Unless you like it then it's good
I'm just gonna be real, tbh this blog isn't a space for you to put your beauty standards onto other people's bodies and my armpit hair and all other aspects of my body are none of your business; please do not put your beauty standards onto other people's bodies.

My partner took these photos of me today. I wanted to wear make up, so love helped me by doing smokey eye, glitter and lipstick. I love these shots because they capture what is at my hearts centre of being a queer brown guy who celebrates what makes me feel good. I have also been doing a lot of drag lately, maybe one day i won’t feel shy enough to perform just in my room. I got a new camera recently, so hoping to take a lot more photographs. Life has been a lot, so I haven’t posted lately. My one year on testosterone passed on June 13th, and I am counting this as my 1 year on testosterone photoshoot. Thanks to my partner for capturing these great shots and doing my make up!
