horoscope questions!
over the almost-a-year this rp has been open, we’ve had a handful of horoscope questions to prompt headcanons for our characters. since we have a bunch of new characters in this week, i thought it’d be handy to compile all the questions so we can answer them for our new characters, too!
your character runs into someone they haven’t seen in a VERY long time.  how do they react to this ghost from their past?
your character has one great fear that resides above all other fears. what is it? how would they react if in a situation where they couldn’t avoid it?
your character now knows they can enhance their power with the locket. would they want to? what would they do with an enhanced power?
what happened to your character and their power during the first power-up? how do they feel about it? what do they do about it?
write about some sort of magic your character hastried out. this could be a thread, solo, headcanon, grimoire entry or private grimoire entry- anything to express how magic is going for them so far.
how does your character react to finding out about the fact that their powers will continue to amplify every six months? what, if anything, do they imagine will happen to them?
our characters didn’t have a choice in what power they got. but what if they had? if your character were allowed to choose their own power, what would they have chosen?

congratulations laura, gemini is now marco eduardo marino-heart with the faceclaim luke pasqualiano !
Character Sign: Gemini Character name: Marco Eduardo Marino-Hart Birthday: June 21, 1997 Sexuality: Bisexual Gender: Cis-Male Moon Sign: Capricorn Faceclaim: Luke Pasqualino Power: Telekinesis
In the days that followed the bonfire night, Marco began to notice that something was amiss. The objects in his flat seemed to have a mind of their own, never staying in the same place as he had left them previously. His bedroom furniture was the most prone to these strange occurrences. It wasn’t uncommon for Marco to wake up in the morning with the furniture in his room completely rearranged. Anyone else might have panicked or claimed that a ghost was behind the manifestations, but Marco found it fascinating. He began to document each occurrence, trying to pinpoint the source of the issue.
It wasn’t until he was looking for his chopping knife one evening that he finally figured it out. There, in the middle of his kitchen, was the knife, hovering five and a half feet off the ground. Curious, Marco raised his hand and beckoned the knife over. To his astonishment, the knife floated towards him and placed itself neatly into his outstretched hand. Marco never did finish making dinner that night, but he did learn plenty about his new telekinetic abilities.
In the months that followed, Marco threw himself into perfecting his powers. He read more books than he could recall on telekinesis, from paperback bestsellers like Carrie to thick textbooks on the laws of physics and psychokinesis. He started off small, bending spoons with his mind and lifting coasters off the coffee table with a flick of his wrist. Like everything he puts his mind to, Marco perfected his craft. He started to move bigger objects, lift heavier things. He’s gotten so good at his abilities that he can have several objects moving simultaneously without giving it much thought. Getting chores done has never been easier. Though it may seem as though he is using his powers foolishly, Marco has a plan that he intends on setting into motion. Until then, he is focusing on becoming as powerful as he possibly can.
Studying: Aeronautical Engineering
Biography:Marco Marino-Hart was born on June 21, 1997, exactly one hour before his sister, Ruth, followed him into the world. For as long as he can remember, Marco’s been told that he’s special. His parents like to remind him that even as a baby, he seemed to be aware of the world around him, taking in his surroundings with wide-eyed curiosity. His inquisitive nature flourished with age. His mother and father watched in awe as their son mastered anything he tried. Walking, talking, reading… Marco excelled at everything he did at an astonishing rate.Recognizing his incredible potential, his parents enrolled Marco in as many lessons as they could possibly cram into their young son’s schedule. A private tutor came by the house each day to teach Marco mathematics, sciences, literature and latin. Once he was done with his lessons for the day, piano and tennis lessons were there to eat up whatever free time he had left. He never admitted it to his parents, but his favourite time of the day was when he got to see his sister. He missed Ruthie during the day when he was locked up in his parents’ study revising multiplication and division charts. He asked his father several times why Ruth couldn’t go to the lessons with him, but his father always replied by saying that he was different from his sister. You require special treatment because you’re gifted, Marco.Still, his best times were spent playing with Ruth. Outside of Marco’s lessons, the twins were inseparable. Thick as thieves, they got into all sorts of mischief together, scaling the side of the house to sit on the rooftop and avoid their father’s party guests, tiptoeing through abandoned houses and buildings they happened to come across, gallivanting in the bogs near their country home. Life was always an adventure for Marco with his sister by his side. She was his best friend, his only friend. Starting school a year earlier than Ruth proved to be difficult for him. Marco had trouble bonding with the kids in his year group. They were all a year older than him and found his talk of airplanes and space travel boring.Though Marco talked up school to his sister, the truth of the matter remained that he was incredibly lonely. He couldn’t have been happier when Ruth finally joined him the following year. He stuck to her side like glue, unbeknownst to him that her friends found him odd. One of the people that Ruth did befriend was Desmond Beaumont, who quickly became Marco’s friend too. The three stuck together at their parents’ dinner parties and at school. It seemed like life had finally found a balance, one in which Marco could be himself and still have friends.
Things changed again once grammar school came around. Des drifted away from the twins, favouring loud parties and illicit activity. Ruth became the beautiful Imogen Song’s shadow, and Marco once again found himself alone. He threw himself into his studies, working on numerous projects and receiving notable recognition for them. One of his projects earned him a place at Stanford University’s summer program for promising students. During the summer in which he turned 17, Marco found himself whisked away to California to converse with likeminded people. It was during this trip abroad that he met Rachel, a second-year law student. Rachel was unlike anyone he had ever met before. For the first time in his life, Marco found himself hopelessly attracted to someone else. He spent every free moment he had with Rachel. When she took him to bed, Marco realized that there were many things he hadn’t yet learned. He was surprised to find himself unable to say good-bye to the Californian beauty when the time finally came. With the promise that they’d Skype each other once a week, Marco returned to rainy England and never heard from Rachel again.
A-Levels kept him busy during his final year in school, and Marco was delighted when he received a place at Durham University in the fall. His parents were ecstatic. He moved up north and started his first year in aeronautical engineering. Again, the well of loneliness returned. Marco felt like he was back in primary school, wishing for his sister to be there with him. He called Ruth every morning and night during that first year. He returned home at the end of second term to find the house in turmoil over his sister’s desire to study art. Marco intervened and managed to convince his parents to let Ruth study up north with him at Durham.Little did he know that their lives were about to be turned upside down that following summer…
Five interesting facts about your character:
Marco is trilingual. He is fluent in English, Italian and French. While he learned both English and Italian in his household, he decided to pick up French at school to prove his sister wrong. Since they were kids, Ruth has always insisted on calling Marco a ‘robot.’ In an effort to prove his sister wrong, he decided to learn the language of love to recite French poetry to her. He now speaks it fluently.
Growing up, Marco played both polo and tennis. He used to play tennis at his parents’ country club with Dane Deluco.
Marco has a particular interest in space and space travel. His dream is to become an astronaut some day.
Though his parents offered to buy him any car he wanted for his 18th birthday, Marco opted for a bicycle, claiming that exercise helps him think when he’s working on a difficult problem.
Marco has a severe seafood and carries an epipen on him at all times.
Character Quote:
There is no great genius without some touch of madness. - Aristotle
If your character had a patronus what would it be? and why? A hawk - hawks are known for being extremely intelligent, having keen eyesight and being good hunters.

congratulations lorena, cancer is now elizabeth ruth marino-heart with the faceclaim naomi scott !
Character Sign: Cancer
Character name: Elizabeth Ruth Marino-Hart Birthday: June 21, 1997 10 AM Sexuality: Homosexual (but questioning) Gender: Cis-female Moon Sign: Capricorn Faceclaim: Naomi Scott Power:
Clairvoyance- In the days after the event on the beach, Ruth found herself painting strange things–things that hadn’t happened yet. She often entered a trance-like state while she worked, letting the art move through her and onto the canvas, but this was different. It was as if she was possessed by some greater power, overwhelmed by the flow of nature and time and space into each other to form life, pure life. Ruth kept her ability secret from the others, insisting she had not been touched by magic. She wasn’t sure she could really call it magic anyways, it could just be coincidence.
Over time and practice, she discovered there was absolutely no coincidence happening here. She was painting and drawing occurrences that she never could have guessed in her wildest daydreams. Still, she held her secret close. The others had their team, they had their cool new abilities that could burn or lift or heal the world around them. They would all die together if the visions weren’t stopped. Ruth had art. She could trust art. Art never let her down or disregarded her needs or told her she wasn’t special. Art was her one true love. If she could control the visions, she could find the solution in the constant slipstream of time and save them all. She didn’t need their help, their pity, their fear. They could deal with their own problems, and she’d deal with hers.
When she stole the locket from Jude in an attempt to get greater control over her visions, her power increased in way she was unprepared for. The visions came with greater frequency, greater urgency, calling out the same frantic message. DEATH DEATH DEATH. Overwhelmed and panicked, Ruth abandoned her art. She prepared to leave school, to apologize to her parents and return home. If she could get as far away from Durham and magic as possible, maybe it would leave her. It didn’t work. The magic pooled up in her system, pressure built until her skin cracked and it all spilled out. She didn’t need the paint. She didn’t need the charcoal. She had everything she needed right here, inside her. Blood.
During her time in the hospital, Ruth finally accepted that she couldn’t do it alone. If they were going to survive, they had to do it as a group. The visions began to come without the paint, flashes of here and there layered on top of each other like a bad photoshop job. Over the months of February and March, the flashes grew, changed shape, obtained substance. By the time they entered Aries season, Ruth saw visions without the paint and charcoal and graphite. Her dark brown eyes flashed with blue fire as the sight veiled over her own vision, seeing places and people as they will be, not as they are.
What do they study? Against her parents wishes, Ruth abandoned med school to study her one true passion and the only thing that makes her feel complete–art.
Biography: (must be at least three paragraphs long, this section should be a catalog of your characters life and the important parts of their personality)
Ruth and Marco Marino-Hart were born on the same day, and from that moment the twins were inseparable. Even from the earliest days, it was clear to see the two babies were very different in behavior, even though they looked so similar to each other. While Marco looked directly at you–with sharp intelligence in his dark gaze, and he interacted with your prodding fingers and reacted to your cooed words–Ruthie was something else. She was easily distracted, distant, more noise but less understanding. It was clear to see that Marco possessed an unusual intelligence.
Even before grade school, it was obvious that Marco was being trained and shaped for greatness. Ruth’s parents doted over him, putting him in countless activities and classes. He excelled at every challenge they presented him with. A prodigy son, a chosen one, gifted and miraculous. Beside his accomplishments, Ruth felt small and purposeless.
Ruth went through a whirlwind of different sports and activities. One by one, giving them her all before exhausting herself and quitting before she could even obtain any skill. She didn’t have Marco’s natural talent. Nothing she ever did was good enough to make her parents fuss over and coddle her like they did to him. She bottled up the jealousy and the disappointment. After all, Marco was truly special. Excellence was built into his DNA. She could try all she wanted, she would never live up to her genius brother’s stunning record of success.
A braver or more reckless child might have acted out for attention. Any kind of attention at all was better than being the mediocre normal child. Despite all the attention she craved, she couldn’t bring herself to do it. She couldn’t bring that sort of stress on her brother. Poor Marco was already so heavily laden with his studies and the weight of impressing their judgemental father, she couldn’t bear to make him worry about her as well. The boy may not have shown it, but she knew it better than anyone, he was a sensitive boy, full of worries. She loved him too much to lash out against father’s expectations of her. Instead, she discovered other ways to express her turmoil, through art. She poured herself into drawing and painting. The loneliness while Marco was away studying no longer pressed down around her like a crushing weight. She had found a purpose, something to live for. When she was creating, she was no longer the mediocre normal child, she was unique and her suffering was beautiful. All of her pain found an outlet in the paint and she would spend hours at her easel as if they were minutes. She was always doodling on everything, art spilling out from her every motion. It became an obsession, the only thing besides her brother that loved her as much as she loved it.
In the early mornings and the late nights, when Marco wasn’t in his constant lessons, the two would escape the watchful eyes of their parents and the house staff as often as possible. They were two sides of the same coin. Some of Ruth’s fondest memories are of adventures with Marco. They would climb out onto the roof to avoid their father’s dinner parties, and instead try to count the stars. They ran down to the creek in the early morning as the sun was rising to catch frogs in the misty cold air. They rode their bicycles all around town, up and down every street. Ruth loved Marco intensely. Her parents always would remind her, “Marco is special, and sensitive. Watch over him, Ruthie. Take good care of him. You have to protect him from anything that might hurt him.” She didn’t need to be reminded. She would have done anything for Marco.
It became more difficult to remain his other half once he started school, a whole year earlier than she did. When she began school a year later, she had no trouble finding friends, but her friends often found Marco awkward when she tried to pull him into her social group. They saw him as Ruth’s genius brother, rather than the brilliant and charming boy that he was. Much of the time, she spent her time with Marco and Des, the sweet boy who didn’t let pretentious labels separate Ruth from her twin. They became fast friends, her and Des. The worries and complaints she feared to lay on her gifted brother, she could confide in Des to keep for her. The adults would often joke that her and Desmond would get married some day, much to the chagrin of the children. Ruth continued her duty of protecting Marco and nurturing his talent, though she began to drift away into her own adventures as she grew older.
There were other kids trapped in her parents social circle with her and Marco. Ruth was happy to see Desmond Beaumont at her family’s social events. There was also the captivating Imogen Song, and the infuriating Dane Duclos. Imogen lit a fire inside Ruth that could not be doused. As much as Ruth tried to ignore it, she was obsessed with the tiny, wild beauty. Ruth chased her everywhere, worshiping the very ground Imogen walked on. She was passion and chaos and freedom embodied. Ruth painted countless portraits of the girl, sketches of the curves of her slender body covered the walls of Ruth’s bedroom. When they explored each others bodies at the top of the broken ferris wheel in the hot summer just after Ruth’s 15th birthday, she knew she would never forget Imogen Song. The girl was branded into her heart forever.
Imogen’s mother grew sick and feeble in the following months. The girl changed, grew distant, and Ruth delicately gave her space to mourn. Her heart was later violently crushed when she caught Imogen kissing a man at a party. Her first love, her summer in paradise, became only a painful memory, another piece of suffering to fuel her art. She poured herself into her creations even more, beginning to create a style for herself. Themes of pain and suffering–war, poverty, starvation, slavery–pervaded her works. She began to sell her art, donating all the proceeds to charities, and with each piece obtained a shred of recognition from the art and charity communities. Ruth grew bolder, finally beginning to feel she had a talent, a purpose. Her parents tolerated her passions, but continued to push her on the path they had laid out for her. She would be a doctor, a respected profession that would pay well and uphold the family honor. She was going to med school. She already had the acceptance letter.
Ruth couldn’t keep quiet and obedient any longer. No matter how she pushed it down, the fit of passionate fury kept rising to the surface. Ruth refused to go to med school. She refused to be what they demanded she be. She had a life, and desires, and she would not sacrifice her happiness for them any more. They threatened to throw her out, they threatened to disown her, she owed everything to them. With Marco’s calm negotiating, they managed to come to an agreement. They begrudgingly allowed Ruth to study art at Durham University with her brother, as long as she upheld her duties to care for and protect him.
That deal became so much harder to uphold the night the twins stepped out onto the sands with ten other students.
Five interesting facts about your character:
1. Ruth started stealing her mum’s cigarettes at age 15. She had almost kicked the bad habit before that first night on the beach, but the stress of their curse has caused her to pick it back up again.
2. For her 18th birthday, her parents bought her a pink Kawasaki Ninja. Ruth loves her motorcycle, which she calls her “pony” because all posh princesses should have a pony.
3. She has called her twin brother a robot ever since they were very small, because he could never understand what she was so emotional about. At first she would doodle little robots on his notebooks and his things to make fun of him. Over the years, the little robot character grew into an affectionate representation of her brother. She drew it on everything he owned, like a signature–the lonely tiny robot in a big world of science and technology.
4. Ruth speaks Italian as well as English, as it is part of the Marino family legacy. She can roughly understand French, Spanish, and German, but cannot speak any of those languages.
5. Her parents put her in ballet as a child but she was not particularly talented. She struggled with constantly comparing herself to the other girls and suffered anxiety whenever she had to go to practice. One girl in particular, her current good friend Ava, was the biggest source of her jealousy and anxiety. Eventually Ruth’s insecurities overwhelmed her and she quit. She refused to do any other sports or group activities after that, focusing solely on creating art.
Character Quote:
You have incredible eyes And all the boys will go wild for you But I was scared In case you made me do those things But would you, oh Would you believe me that I was your fool? ‘Cause I’ve been lying awake at night Wondering where you are now And if that metal turned out right All my life, all my life, I said, it’s not right Nobody told me I could do something Nobody told me I could be something, yeah I have tried, I have tried to say it’s alright Nobody told me I could do something Nobody told me I could be something You wore undoubtable smiles You were divorced from inside, they said But I was disturbed When I heard that it’s not what you preferred It gets to the point they expected And who are you to disappoint them anyway
Time will get you in the end Just when you shook off that regret Around the corner comes out Mary In a fur coat to talk about it All my life, all my life, she said, it’s not right Nobody told me I could do something Nobody told me I could be something, yeah I have tried, I have tried to say, it’s alright Nobody told me I could do something Nobody told me I could be something Many words that have been spoken Cut me out like paper dolls Made me into something different Something I could not dissolve So far over, don’t their words slow ya All my life, all my life, I said, it’s not right Nobody told me I could do something Nobody told me I could be something, yeah I have tried, I have tried to say it’s alright Nobody told me I could do something Nobody told me I could be something
- “Paper Dolls” by Corinne Bailey Rae
If your character had a patronus what would it be? and why?
Rabbit - Ruth is soft and fluffy and pleasant in outward appearance. She can seem small, or fragile, or afraid. The rabbit is cute, but it is generally uninteresting. Everyone has seen rabbits before, they are not special. But her strength lies in her gentleness. She is watchful for predators, and quick to flee. But in the burrow, she is nurturing and warm. She is fiercely loyal and attached to her family. The rabbit is associated with the moon in some ancient folklores. The Rabbit in the Moon was quick, and cunning, and intuitive. It produced the elixir of immortality for the gods to drink.

congratulations nicky, libra is now ava park with the faceclaim kim sojung !
APPLICATION Character Sign: (Aries/Leo etc.) Libra Character name: Ava Park Birthday: 19th October Sexuality: ??? Gender: Cis female Moon Sign: (How moon signs work) Leo Faceclaim: Kim So-Jung (Sowon) Power: (explanation and suggestions) Weather manipulation. When one has gained almost pinpoint-perfect control of their body, after all, it only makes sense that she moved on to the world around her. Ava has not yet developed a sub-power. On first manifestation, she became able to mess with the weather in her immediate vicinity of ten feet, but only based on the current weather conditions around her. For example, if it was raining she couldn’t change the weather, but she could bend the rain to avoid her just because she didn’t want to get wet, or a strong gale to miss her so she wouldn’t end up with ruined hair. At that time, she had begun to practice using this ability consciously. Following the power-up, her range remains the same, however now she can physically change the weather conditions within those ten feet, for example, make the sun shine around her when it’s cloudy. If she’s not concentrating and she’s really up in her feelings, though, the weather around her can be influenced by her thoughts or her mood.
What do they study? BA Liberal Arts Biography: Ava is the Park family’s second child, in as many ways as she can count. Her older brother, Harvey, a clever and precocious child, has been set on-course to take over the family’s enormously successful architectural firm from the day he was born. Ava, pretty and dainty but otherwise unremarkable, was not destined for quite such great things. Of course, it went without saying that Ava’s parents loved her, but she knew quite well that her brother was special. One afternoon, when she was five years old, her mother took her into a big hall lined with mirrors and filled with other children her age, and let go of her hand. At her first ballet lesson, Ava found her feet. It was clear enough early on that Ava had some talent, but it wasn’t until she was around nine years old that it became clear that she was looking at the very real possibility of a shining career as a dancer. She danced with both razor-sharp technique and stunning artistry, and spent every free moment she had practising. Perhaps it was a good thing that she discovered her talent so early in life, because she wasn’t, as it turned out, very good at school. Ava’s relationship with her brother grew more and more strained as they got older. It was clear that her parents, particularly her father, invested more time and energy in Harvey and his intellectual talents, viewing Ava’s ballet as more of a nice hobby that kept her busy. This became an even greater point of contention when, having scored well enough in her AS Levels to apply for university, she had already decided that she was going to audition for ballet companies – she had her sights set on the Royal London in particular. She was told that she could do whatever she liked – as long as she got a degree first to fall back on. Her parents chose Durham for her – and for Harvey before her. Determined to avoid any chance of bumping into him at his stupid business and economics classes – and slightly limited by her grades – she chose Liberal Arts. She spends her days going to class (most of the time), hanging out with the other members of the Durham University Ballet Society, partying, and practising.
Five interesting facts about your character: •    She’s secretly embarrassed about her toes. They’re utterly ruined and gross from pointe shoes, and you’ll rarely see her wearing sandals, open toe shoes or flip flops, even in summer. •    It would be unfair to say that Ava has an eating disorder, but her self-image declines, as does her willingness to eat sensibly, when she’s stressed. •    Ava absolutely LOVES sunglasses. She practically collects designer shades, and she probably has a pair to go with every outfit. It’s very rare that she’ll be seen on a day that is even remotely bright without a pair of sunnies either on her eyes or perched on top of her head. •    Even with all the expensive face creams and balms she could ever want at her fingertips, she still swears by Sudocrem for getting rid of spots. •    The most embarrassing dance costume she’s ever had to wear was a banana, when she was seven years old and performing a group dance choreographed by her ballet instructor about a fruit salad. She doesn’t even like banana.
Character Quote: All the colors of the rainbow Hidden 'neath my skin Hearts have colors don't we all know? Red runs through our veins Feel the fire burning up Inspire me with blood of blue and green I have hope Inside is not a heart But a kaleidoscope -    Sara Bareilles, Kaleidoscope Heart
If your character had a patronus what would it be? and why? As obvious a choice as it is, a swan. Beautiful, graceful, strong enough that she can break your arm without too much effort. Hangs out with ducks because she’s just so generous that way.
WRITING SAMPLE Oh. No, no thank you.

congratulations sarah, aquarius is now adrien “rory” caston with the faceclaim harry styles !
Character Sign: Aquarius Sun/Rising Character name: Adrien “Rory” Caston Birthday: February 2, 1997 Sexuality: They’re attracted to men, but just identify as gay. Gender: Genderfluid (Rory uses they/them pronouns but will still answer to he/him and even she/her, though they prefer the first) Moon Sign: Sagittarius Faceclaim: Harry Styles Power: Wing Manifestation Sub Power: Navigation Intuition What do they study? Sociology and International Relations
Biography: tw homophobia, misgendering
Then:
They were too passionate, too naive, and too young, and that’s how they ended up with a newborn son and no money to take care of him. William Caston met Emmeline Lavoie, while traveling through France during a gap year. The two quickly fell in love, and what was meant to be a month long holiday, turned into two months, and eventually had no end date in sight. William’s original plan was to take a gap year before beginning university to study Law, but the plan changed when Emmeline became pregnant. William’s parents demanded that they give the baby up for adoption, disappointed that their son would throw his future away for a girl he just met, while Emmeline’s very traditional parents wanted the two to get married and raise the baby–which is exactly what they did. Furious with their sons irresponsibility, they cut William off, and the Lavoie’s took him in, but they had little money to give.
Rory spent their first five years in Marseille in handmade clothes while playing with their maman’s old toys. Their memories from living in France are a blur, but they remember feeling different even then–when everything was still simple. Rory loved putting on their manman’s old dresses and digging into her makeup drawer. Back then, Emmeline waved it off as a phase, though she didn’t realize at the time that phase would never go away. It wasn’t until they moved to England that it began to fall apart. With the Lavoie’s support, William was able to take night classes and was eventually offered a paralegal internship in Doncaster. But it was the grandparents support that kept their marriage together. They became pregnant with Rory’s little sister, Camille, almost immediately after moving and reality began to set in. They had no money, and Emmeline was left to raise two young children, while William was trying to establish a career for himself. Passive aggressive comments escalated into shouting matches and two years later, the couple filed for a divorce.
At first, William tried be a part of Rory’s and Camille’s life, but his career finally began to take off and Emmeline became their main source of support. Without Rory’s father around, their mother reminded them over and over that they were the “man” of the house, a phrase that never resonated well with them. Rory felt like a man sometimes, but they felt like a woman as well and never understood why they had to be one or the other. They didn’t want to live up to a set of rules that their mother expected. As they got older, they felt more and more uncomfortable with these “rules.” They used the money they got from their part-time job to buy makeup from the drugstore, and preferred their middle name over his first–something Emmeline took as a great offense, considering her ex-husband chose it. The more Rory acted out, the more upset his mother got, so he lived a double life. At home, they were the “protector” of their maman and sister, but at school they explored. They found themselves fascinated with sociology and the peace corp, eager to help others and fight for human rights. A career that, according to their mother, made no money.
The double life could only work for so long, and they began to feel suffocated. Their school life began to bleed into their home life. Emmeline came from a traditional family and expressed certain views towards sexual orientation or race that Rory could no longer stay silent over. They would argue constantly during dinner, and she caught Rory with makeup on, on multiple occasions. She reached her breaking point when she walked in on her son kissing another boy. She kicked Rory out of the house, accusing them of not being a man, and refusing to pay for university. Rory considered reaching out to their father, but quickly ruled that out, figuring they wouldn’t feel better under his roof either. They briefly lived with a friend the last year of college, until they saved up enough money from their part-time job to rent a run-down flat. University seemed like a hopeless dream, but after an impressive school record and a gripping essay, they received scholarships to multiple schools, and ultimately settled on Durham.
Now:
After that night on the beach, Rory was gifted with wings–or at least they like to think of it that way. There’s something so beautiful and ethereal about the wings that emerge from their back, loving the soft white feathers. At Durham, they finally feel free to be themselves, going by Rory instead of Adrien and dressing in the clothes that they want to wear. Some days they feel more like a man than a woman, or vice versa, and sometimes they don’t feel like anything at all, and rather than hide that, they embrace it.
Five interesting facts about your character:
Rory enjoyed studying astrology even before that night on the beach. Their knowledge of it is superficial, but they’ve been making an effort to learn more about full charts.
They’re fluent in both French and English. They were born in France, but grew up in Doncaster, so they have a yorkshire accent.
Though their dorm comes with the scholarship, they still have a part-time job as a barista at the nearby cafe. They like to save up money to expand their makeup collection. Recently, Rory had to invest in a vanity to fit it all.
Rory likes to have little photoshoots with their wings. They don’t share the pictures with anyone, but they can’t help but take advantage.
They joined way too many clubs: Durham For Refugees, Global Awareness and International Collaboration Society, HeForShe, Intersectional Feminism Society, and The LGBT+ Association.
Character Quote: (any quote, lyric or poem that you think really describes your character)
“And I don’t care if I sing off key I find myself in my melodies I sing for love, I sing for me I shout it out like a bird set free”
If your character had a patronus what would it be? and why?
Blackbird- Blackbirds are mysterious and intuitive, appearing when needed most.
ANYTHING ELSE? My favorite color is pink, lol I never did this the first time, because I don’t read.

congratulations elaina, scorpio is now wren hugo with the faceclaim bex taylor klaus !
Character Sign: scorpio Character name: wren hugo Birthday: 1997 Sexuality: queer Gender: intersex, but this is not public information. legal documents say "female". has decided that thinking to hard about their gender identity will detract from the causes they support, so currently goes by she/her pronouns. Moon Sign: leo (aquarius rising) Faceclaim: bex taylor klaus Power: sound manipulation (elaboration in bio)
Biography:
1997. wren elizabeth hugo is born to a pair of modern hippies; an american father and german mother living in gao, india. she won't remember having lived there.
1999. the hugos move to kathmandu, nepal. the missionary doctor they see while there points out that something might not be quite right with wren. sure, she seems healthy enough, but something between her legs isn't shaped the way you'd expect it to be shaped.
2002. two surgeries later, the government catches up the the hugos, who disappear dehab, egypt just in time for wren to start school.
2004. the hugos find themselves in ko pha-ngan, thailand. wren goes under the knife again.
2005. their stay in siargo doesn't last terribly too long. wren is nearly kidnapped, but evades capture and the family leaves shortly after.
2005. the family lands in the cyclades, greece. wren faces another surgery and falls in love with computers.
2009. just when wren is starting to think they've found their forever home, the family picks up again and moves to freetown christiania, copenhagen, denmark. mr. and mrs. hugo swear up and down that this is the last move. wren starts getting headaches.
2011. it isn't the last move. amidst civil unrest in the commune, the hugos move once more, this time to glastonbury. wren's headaches get worse, morphing into migraines.
2011. wren's migraines degrade to the point where other surgeries to address her other problems are put on hold. at least once a week- sometimes more frequently- she gets excruciating episodes where it feels as if a rocket is launched from somewhere in the back of her skull and explodes just behind her left eye. no one can explain why. after the worst one of her life, wren writhing and screaming and clawing at her eye to try to get it out, her mother and father frantically pinning her arms to the bed to stop her from hurting herself, everything came to a halt as wren's vision suddenly disappeared from that eye. this leads to the discovery of wren's mystery condition- a demyelinating disease that caused enough nerve damage to irreversibly destroy the connection between wren's eye and her brain.
2012. her other eye begins to deteriorate, as do other nerves in her body. doctors work quickly to get her on the right cocktail of medications to control the pain and seizures that result, and the medications work fairly well. wren still steadily loses vision in her other eye, and occasionally experiences tremors and palsies in her limbs, but the migraines and pain are much more bearable than they were before her diagnosis.
2013. the law finally catches up to mr. and mrs. hugo for tax evasion. wren is taken away from them and dropped into a foster home with minimal contact with her parents. while living in the foster home, with government officials aware of her condition, she's able to receive somewhat better accessibility aids, such as a wheelchair for days when her palsies are more than she can deal with on her own, as well as a service dog (a black lab named pluto). she gets placed in a school that better suits her needs and is finally able to start re-learning how to use a computer and how to read braille, among other important things like how to navigate on her own and how to operate her cell phone.
2014. wren petitions for and receives emancipation at 17. she moves into a co-op with a few other young people nearer her school and works on applying to colleges. as she still struggles to use computers, she lets go of her dream of studying computer science and becoming a hacker; instead, she decides to study sociology and become an activist of some kind. she's tired of thinking about her gender, she's tired of thinking about her disability, she wants to fight for something else. still plagues with nightmares of her near-abduction in siargao, she settles on human trafficking.
2015. thanks in large part to a sob story essay about growing up a disabled nomad, wren is accepted to several schools. she ultimately chooses durham at the recommendation of a school counselor.
2016. welcome to durham. it's a struggle to get situated starting out, but the school gives her some assistance and she's got her feet under her within a few months.
march 2017. that night at the sands... there are too many people. they're too loud. they're too close together. it's cold and wet and sand is hard to navigate and honestly wren just wants to go home and suddenly... the whole world goes silent. every sound cuts out in an instant and wren freezes in place- she's been warned already that her hearing was in danger the same as her eyes, but she hadn't expected it to just disappear like that. completely overtaken with fear, she quietly tells pluto to take her back home and follows him away from the group as quickly as possible. by the time she's off the sand, her hearing returns. overwhelmed by the sudden turn, wren falls to her knees in the grass, barely able to catch her breath. a few moments later, she hears voices approaching behind her; she scrambles to her feet and hurries off with pluto again, not wanting to explain what just happened to anyone. over the next few weeks, as the reality of what they'd experienced became apparent, wren came to realize that her experience was her first run-in with her power of sound manipulation- she was overwhelmed by all the noisy people around her, so she stopped the soundwaves from reaching herself. with time and practice, she started learning the finer points of her power- she could listen in on far-away conversations, she could say something in a quiet voice from one side of the room and send it to a specific person on the other side of the room without anyone else hearing, she could turn off all sounds in an area entirely for everyone- the applications were a bit dizzying. she hasn't developed any subpowers yet, but through the power-ups she's developed a very keen sense of echolocation; through sound she can very accurately determine the shape and contents of the space she's in, and if she knows a person very well she can even figure out where that person is within that space.
Five interesting facts about your character:
1. mother is german, father is american. spoke a mix of both growing up and is functionally fluent in both, but not 100% fluent in either. regarding other languages:
knows a few children's songs in konkani, but left india too young to remember much of the language.
same with nepali from her time in kathmandu.
lived in dehab, egypt in early elementary school and can still read a bit of arabic, but not much.
was reasonably okay at thai at one point after living in ko pha-ngan, but has forgotten most of it.
didn't live in siargao long enough to learn much siargaonon
became very attached to greek while living in the cyclades, is still reasonably conversational.
picked up dutch relatively easily while living in christiania, copenhagen due to already speaking english and german.
wren never feels comfortable communicating; she knows her accent is a muddy mess and that her vocabulary is small. sometimes, to get out of conversations with strangers, she'll speak a made-up language that crosses through all the various languages she knows. she worries that if she picks just one language, the stranger might happen to know how to speak that language. also, in spite of being so uncomfortable with her language skills, she picks up on other languages relatively quickly because she's so used to having to learn fast.
2. wren's memory is impeccable, she'll never forget a kindness or a slight or a random useless piece of trivia.
3. keeps a small fidget toy in her pocket at all times, finds it helps keep her calm and focused.
4. very, very, very particular about her shoes. will wear a pair of shoes until they fall apart before buying a new pair, and it takes her forEVER to settle on a new pair. she's somewhat the same way about her clothes, but it's very pronounced with shoes.
5. wren started losing her sight just as she started wanting to wear makeup. knowing she'd eventually lose most of her vision, she practiced putting her eyeliner and mascara on without a mirror. by the time she lost her sight, she could do so pretty easily, and still does. she doesn't really wear makeup beyond that.
Character Quote:
"Day surprises me and night scares me  haunts me and winter follows me  An animal walking on the snow has placed  Its paws in the sand or in the mud
Its paws have traveled  From further afar than my own steps  On a path where death  Has the imprints of life"  from "the human face: vi. a wolf", paul eluard
If your character had a patronus what would it be? and why?
an elephant. they never forget.

congratulations logan, aries is now dane duclos with the faceclaim santiago segura !
Character Sign: Aries
Character name: Dane Duclos Birthday: 04/01/1997 Sexuality: Straight-Curious Gender: Male Moon Sign: Capricorn Faceclaim: Santiago Segura
Fire Absorption:  The ability to absorb fire and utilize it in some way. It’s fairly straight forward, like fire negation, but I like the idea of his sign being under the house of fire that instead of destroying or dismissing fire—he could instead absorb it. I imagine him quench accidental fires, magical explosions, or generally take fire in a way to enhance him. Personally the only enhancement I’d want is when he absorbs fire he has a stamina boost. Like a extra shot of espresso or something. I know most absorption powers can be too wonky making the person invinicble the more than can absorb but for me… I just want it to be a leveling ability that can minor cancel problems while being minorly effective or influential for Dane.
Sub power—Thermal Control:The power is broad stating you can control temperature, lack there of aka cold or ice or an increased amount heat. Personally I can see Dane having the ability to do both but for now he can’t. Perhaps a few more months after Aries season he might, for now his powers are that of cold manipulation on the scale of Thermal control. Much like the beginning his absorption made the room feel cooler or the fact that lack of heat producing a cooling element—that’s only manifested cold/ice. Dane’s powers now can produce levels of ice, cooling the air, and generally lowering temperatures around him until a freezing point. It’s problematic since the more energy he uses to decrease other people’s temperatures or areas, the more his crave to absorb heat increases. It’s a double edged sword really.
What do they study: Architecture, I like the idea of him being in the department or school of design at Durham. For him architecture is this unlimited space to create something long lasting, to have a physical imprint on history. In high school is when he learned that creating homes to bridges, to the newest or most advance buildings gave him this passion he never expected to have. Before that his family assumed he’d go into law or politics, but the way he spoke about design made them lenient on letting him explore that.
Biography:             (TW: Abortion, TW: Pregnancy )
Etched from the finest marble, details were in the hands of your master on that day since you would become their perfect creation. Son of a diplomat and a lawyer, he was shoved into a light he had to learn to soak up. For Dane, every moment from the age of nine until now has had a plan, a certain design to be finished out. His schooling, his friends, down to his extracurricular choices would pave the way to what he thought was his goals. His parents weren’t that overbearing as most would think, they were firm but supportive yet in the eyes of their son they were two of the hardest people to make proud. His mind clouded love as a test to pass. He took strides in everything he did to be the best—to climb the rankings as the one to look at. In his heart he believed he could do anything, that all the compliments and congratulations as a child were fabricated into the crown he wears on his head this day. He’d be royalty, he’d be the golden ichor that the gods spoke of.
                                 He’d be unstoppable.
However one thing almost derailed that for him, the outlier to his future—the one girl that would have halted it all. Lillian Alcott was the one thing that he never expected. She was an angel with a vixen’s heart, she spoke in riddles, and caused every minute that Dane was with her to be complicated but intriguing. The straight forward, overachiever had met the one that didn’t fit into his world—which then became the one thing that couldn’t be unhinged from it either. For three years they dated, loved, and spent every moment working a way to have her in his life forever. Days would become months and Dane’s design for himself grew into a design for them. However The Fates were always fickle women, as it seemed he was destined for something else, as a choice; no a forced decision would cause the two to break. It was four months before graduation, before Dane would head to Durham on early scholarship and Lilian would attend a university close to him, when they found out she was pregnant. The news was tough at first but he grew to love the idea—as such  Lilian grew on him. Once again he began to edit his plans for the future, until his parents got hold of what was happening. “How could you? Were you even thinking? You are too young!”; They’d argue and try to berate him onto their view points, yet Dane stood his ground. He wanted the child, wanted her, and didn’t give a damn about how he’d do it all—but he would. Disappointingly though, his parents with their wealth and connections would make that reality into a fantasy.
Graduation rolled around and Dane found himself alone across the stage. Months before Lilian would have found herself up state, losing the only reason that would tether their lives together any longer, and a promise to never come back at the price of his father’s bank account. Broken, confused, and bitter he tried to live out his last few weeks in his home town. with his family acting like nothing happened, until he could escape to college. To a fresh start. That was when he promised himself that nothing—no one—would cause him to give up everything he wanted ever again. His parents were distant from him, he continued to excel at what he did with pride and hard work, yet as every superficial accomplishment he gained his heart grew harder and harder. He began to replace dates with screwing others, replacing committed to casual, and focused on a life he thought he needed….a life solely about him and his ambitions. An empty one at that….
Five interesting facts about your character:
Dane is multilingual as he knows Canadian-French, Arabic, English, and Spanish
At a young age he was the youngest fencer to be nationally ranked in the top ten in over 30 years. He was fourth in Canada before the age of sixteen, and won several championships.
Thanks to his father’s position he has a clean record, not even a speeding ticket. Thanks to the little more than a decade of diplomatic immunity he and his family received. Dane is very much like a golden boy or boy-scout, cause he only pushes the envelope just enough to not break it but get what he wants.
He’s allergic to pears and white chocolate. Something he hated as a kid but now barely affects him. Though at times have asked girls to not where certain perfumes cause even the scent of pears makes him sneeze
Is a horror junkie and fanatic, being able to quote almost all the scream and Jason movies by heart.
Character Quote:  “Got hands like an ocean, push you out, pull you back in”
If your character had a patronus what would it be? and why?: Probably would be a hawk. Hawks are clever creatures but their precision to detail and focus is what makes me feel like Dane would inevitably muster up this corporal sign. Focused, executing plan lethally and effectively….yeah, reminds me of my boy a lot.
WRITING SAMPLE
“God damn it Imogen can you just shut up!” he screamed, causing his magic to lunge behind the girl—igniting, torching the lamp post. It was a long night and being forced with the girl caused his blood to finally boil over. At first spark, the fire caused her to jump on her heels and away from the accident.
“What the fuck Dane, control yourself.” she replied, like a viper, while her eyes cut deeply into him.
Seeing her judge him like that almost caused him to scorch another object around them, yet he took a breath instead. Almost as hot as he felt he exhaled while turning away. You’d think both signs, both ruled under their elemental house would have had a stronger bond—yet it was opposite. Their hearts and soul might burn with the same passion fueled by fire, but their minds were too differential.Sporadic, popular, care free…a child through and through, while Dane’s was fabricated, steely focused on the next task, aggressive. They were frankly oil and water, hell even gasoline and an open flame. Combustible, volatile, the two’s presence could cause others around them to feel the pressure and heat from the fire and vigor they could muster. Dane’s glances were still out and away from her, but with another breath he turned to look at her—more calculated and reserved. “I am under control, but I don’t think you understand how important it is to realize what’s happening to us; to all of us.” he started, her smug grin only making him want to smear it across her features. “This isn’t just ooooh we are witches or some shit, this isn’t fucking Harry Potter…what we have, what we can do!” his hand pointing behind her as the post was barely smoldering at that point. “We are dangerous….so fucking grow up.”
Would his words change her? Would they form chains of reason that would bind her to their world and not whatever world she vacationed to? Probably not but since  the twelve had met things have been escalating, their powers were magnificent yet deeply strong. Some were more passive than the others but like Dane’s they were active, aggressive and made him worry. Was he the only one taking things seriously? Since most have been acting like they were still college students, still going to Frat parties, and cramming for studies. However his mind was clouded, his plans were altered, and this architect needed things to go as he envisioned them.
“Dane seriously, you need to stop worrying. All you do is bitch, brood, or suck any fun out of everything. This is a gift not some responsibility, so worry about that than all of us. You aren’t our babysitter.” she responded with such an air that it teetered or the truth and arrogance, “Even so, I think you are the one that needs more control.” smiling before she walked passed him and back into the party.
ANYTHING ELSE?
My favorite colour is slate.

welcome to aries season, everyone! as you’ll remember from a previous horoscope, power-ups happen approximately every six months; once at the beginning of aries season, and once at the beginning of libra season. characters may suddenly find their powers stronger and wilder, or may find a new aspect to their power they didn’t know existed. as you decide how your character’s power manifests at the start of this new chapter, please keep the following in mind:
powers and sub-powers should be at least tangentially related. if your character has the power of ice manipulation, subpowers of water manipulation or ice mimicry would make sense, super strength probably would not.
if your character already has a subpower, they should not be getting an entirely new subpower at this time. for example, if your character already has the power of visual illusion projection with a subpower of sensory manipulation, it would make sense for their hallucinations/manipulations to get stronger or more out of control, but they shouldn’t also develop a new subpower of minor transfiguration.
if your character does not already have a new subpower, they are still free to develop one at this time, but they do not have to.
remember that with enough practice, your characters can use magic to do things outside of their powers- they’ll be naturally more gifted with magic related to their power, but they could try to learn just about anything. for example, a character who doesn’t have powers related to flying might use magic to be able to hover a few inches above the ground.
please get in touch if you have any questions!
as a bonus, i’ve included an explanation of why the power-ups happen under the cut. this information is in the book, so if you want your character to know it, you can say they do, but it’s not super important to the story for them to know. just bonus material ^^
the first day of aries season is the start of the astrological year- like new year’s day for astrology. starting when the sun enters aries on the vernal equinox (which was on march 20th in 2018). as we all know from grade school science class, the sun doesn’t actually move anywhere- it’s the earth that moves around the sun, it’s our relative motion that makes it appear as if the sun is moving. the movement of the earth is what causes these power-ups.
when the twelve use their powers and/or magic, the echoes of that magic reverberate outward from the earth and into the atmosphere, into the universe. magic has consequences, and much like how anything that goes around comes around, the twelve are affected by how their magic comes back around on them. when the earth reaches the exact opposite side of the sun from the start of aries season (as the sun enters libra on autumnal equinox, in astrological terms- this will happen on september 23rd in 2018), the twelve cross paths with the reverberations of their magic and their powers increase.
while the twelve encounter reverberations from their magic during the rest of the year (reverberations from a spell performed on june 7, for example, would be felt sometime around the following january 7), the effects of these individual instances are generally less noticeable than the effects of the equinoxes. this is because the twelve received their powers on the vernal equinox; twelve people suddenly developing magic powers all at the same time in the same place is a dramatic event, so the echoes from this event were very strong. when they crossed the magical reverberations from that event at the beginning of libra season, those reverberations triggered the first power-up, causing another intensely magical event, which sent out more strong reverberations, which they’re feeling now. the reverberations from this event will catch up to them at the beginning of autumn this year, so on and so forth.
i hope that makes some kind of sense! like i said, it’s not important for your character to know or understand this at all, it’s just some background information for those who are curious.
happy aries season!

congratulations logan, capricorn is now luca yamada with the faceclaim ryan potter !
Character Sign: Capricorn
Character name: Luca Yamada Birthday: January 19th Sexuality: Fluid Gender: Cis-Male Moon Sign: Aquarius Faceclaim: Ryan Potter Power:
MATTER ABSORPTION; The user can absorb matter, while removing it from the source, into their body and use it in various ways, gaining some form of advantage, either by enhancing themselves, gaining the drained power, using it as power source etc., either temporarily or permanently.
Luca’s ability is complete earth based, meaning he can’t absorb matter that isn’t naturally made or largely complied of earth base compotents. Items like clay, stone, metal, sand, and even gemstone can be taken from and used. How it’s used? Think of it like a layer of armor, in some ways, as Luca can absorb the chemical or atomic makeup of a substance—it’s matter—then reincorporate that matter into his own genetic makeup. Basically his skin and to some point his muscles or organs completely shift into the matter he absorbs. Whether that’s taking in a concrete wall creating his arms to be as heavy and dense as stone or absorbing metal railing, to coat his knuckles to be as strong as steel. His ability doesn’t give him abnormal strength, endurance, or durability—but depending on the composition of the matter he takes does change him. Imagine you punching someone’s face and then imagine punch a stone face…the matter is what makes him “stronger” but he’s still human, and has his limitations.
LIMITATIONS; Firstly proximity is needed, via touch. Luca can not mentally or psychically absrob matter. Like the element of earth it is person and physical. Luca’s limitations grows via  science. Magic might be able to bend many rules in the world but never can absolutely break them. The porpotion to which the material Luca is absorbing is equally porpotion to how much he can collectively transform his body. If he absorbs a pebble or a stone the size of a brick, he can only spread that to about the size of his forearm or less… Walls, metal railings, or solid desk leave him more than enough material he let his body manifest into the element he’s absorbing. Secondly, as his powers grow stronger, Luca can have a slight chance of destroying the material he’s syphoning. Taking an objects matter is one thing, but if he takes too much he can destroy the integrity of it. As most stone objects, like rocks or bricks, have chances of disintegrating. So far most walls or metal objects don’t fully break down but might be structially more weak or it way rust. Lastly his limitations are that he’s still human, not inhuman. Luca can still feel the weight of his ability, almost as if he’s lifting weights. He must train himself physically and must work hard to withstand the physical demands of his ability. He might be able to take more hits, be denser or stronger, but that all fades once the matter does too.
SUB POWER, FERROKINESIS; Shape and manipulate metal, a solid material (an element, compound, or alloy) that is typically hard, shiny, and features good electrical and thermal conductivity. Metals are generally malleable—they can be hammered or pressed permanently out of shape without breaking or cracking—as well as fusible (able to be fused or melted) and ductile (able to be drawn out into a thin wire
Since Luca has absorbed large amounts of metals ranging from steel, iron, alluminum, and copper—when his power boost came into effect, his body developed what they know best. Metals. Luca is able to shape or manipulate metals, never create them from thin air. His ability is also weaker than if it was a main gift, as he often can only dismantle, twist, or destroy metal than truly shape it to much. His ability is normally heightened if he has recently absorbed metals or alloys.
LIMITATION; Luca’s limitations are practice and understanding. Chemistry was never Luca’s first choise, so understanding the softness of metals and their strengths and weaknesses have been a learning curve. If he tries to manipulate or form metal too sharply or outside of it’s scientific properties it can shatter or grow weaker than he’d want. As a weaker manipulation, he isn’t able to mess with heavy ammounts or large pieces of metals, much like his brain is too weak to mentally lift such a mass. Emotions can help him push pass that but as of now, he is limited to the largest thig he’s manipulating being a street lamp.
What do they study: Criminology
Biography:
self-con·trol
You were precision in perfection, a graceful force biding your time. As a child your chaos was order; neatly stacking your toys in the spaces they held, to coloring in the lines—dazzling your parent’s with your “skills”. However those skills or talents they’d dote on you for, felt nothing but natural. You like having a plan, a goal to reap pride and glory from. Your bones were etched with method and reason, your muscles woven with patience that rivaled most your age; truly you aged faster than others. By ten your ballet shoes would be trade for kickboxing ones—as the control that ballet offered grew boring. The older you got, that graceful force churned and brewed needing an outlet that wasn’t just lines and beauty. No, your hands ached with a soreness you indulged in. You were learning to become a soldier of your own pursuits.
re·spon·si·ble
Time moved on and your maturity produced your most remarkable trait. Your sense of duty. Martial arts only were steps to your goal, learning to protect yourself but a seed of virtue would bloom into protecting others. You, like all sixteen year olds, played your hand against Fate—tempting the laws of the world and breaking what you could, yet you never treaded too far across the line. You had patience for the things that so many around you eagerly wanted. You were a catious driver, a conservative when you partied, and above all else a studious boy. Your parents goals for you were lofty, but you worked towards them. Your dreams would stay on the back burner, as they would speak of being a doctor or becoming a lawyer…you held your tongue. Being dutiful to them meant everything, but you wanted nothing more than to be the opposite. For your heart was that of a lion, big and bold, beating to a rhythm of one thing; to become an officer.
pes·si·mis·tic
Graduation had came, you walked the stage with your canary colored sash, being first and the best among your peers. However you found a part of you that you never expected. Doubt and fear, a trait you fought hard against with grit and horns. You pushed past a lot; your sexuality, your parents plan for you, physical struggles, test, college acceptances…etc. You should feel the weight you are feeling before you fly off to Durham. You’ve made it, you are pursuing your dreams, you are free from your past—yet with your future open to so much your doubt festers a colder side of you. Judgement and sharp words become your mask you slip on with ease, while your eyes hide a mind that is softer than you know. You never forgot your virtue, to uphold and protect the law and it’s people, yet you forgot how to be yourself. More comfortable to be hardhead than vunerable.
stub·born
It’s been years and your life was on a track to success; everything you’ve wanted. However Fate is a fickle bitch, and you’ve found yourself butting heads and grinding your teeth for over a year now. Your life has shifted, to a plane or reality that has no control or understanding. That irks you. Your dreams are being put on pause, your finish line was so close but you and eleven others are being hijacked to something else. Part of you wants to run, to fight another day, to return to your life…yet deeper than that, a part of you that wants to serve and to be apart of something bigger keeps you there. Even if you rather not corroborate and feeling like you are being dragged along instead of leading it. You are here, you are now a witch, you are apart of something larger than the law.
Patrouns: Luca’s patronus would be that of a Heron, white with black tipped wings. Herons represent wild determination and inteligence. The grace of these birds are known for their adaptablity and diversity, since they tread between three elements—that of water, earth, and air. They are crafty creatures, fidning new ways to hunt and survive which for me describes Luca. His whole life has been polishing himself to be better, pressure and focus he puts on himself to hopefully be able to withstand it and become a diamond in the end. Not to mention his mother has a traditional Japanese painting that has a Heron in it; which Luca grew up loving and appreciating more and more.
Five interesting facts about your character:
Luca is tri-lingual knowning Japanese, English, and French. Most people find it surprising that he knows French as he’s American and attending a British school but his aunt is from Bordeuax, France—which he visited often as a child.
Luca is trained in martial arts, almost 11 years in Judo and Taekwondo. He doesn’t brag about how good he is, saying he does it to stay in shape and is just a agression reliever but really he is good. At seventeen he was nationally ranked in the top five, and a small ranking around the world. His coach thought he could work into trying out for the Olympics but Luca was more focus on college to do that.
Is secretly an HGTV lover and is a big fan of Property Brothers. He just loves watching people decorate and creating a space, which reflects as his apartment is very true to him and his aestehtic.
Most people are shocked to learn that Luca hates sushi, even most fish. His mother being more dissapointed about that, but still loves other Japanese dishes and is a bigger fan of rolled omlettes than anything. He still fakes liking it when his dates taking him to sushi places, just to be polite.
Luca owns a pet Husky named Opus, that is just 3 years old. The little guy (who isn’t that small anymore) is Luca’s pride and joy. They two are a perfect match between master and friend, as Opus is as loyal and trained as Luca is particular and ridged. He often shows Opus off by letting him perform tricks like getting him a soda or letting him open his bedroom dorm for him.
Character Quote: “Just because you are soft doesn’t mean you are not a force. Honey and wildfire are both the color gold.”
WRITING SAMPLE
Have you ever have déjà vu? That overwhelming feeling of familiarity; well think of that times ten and add a wicked head high to it and you can imagine Luca’s reaction to watching the scene in front of him ‘return’ to normal. His eyes flickered images of predictions, rapidly fliping ontop of one another like a frame by frame photo—like if stop animation had become his state. He watched a women that was about to drop her bag, drop it four different ways, each trailing like a streak of light with how the apples would fall (which was 80% more likely to fall over into the road than not). His brain felt short circuited, shaking his head. Each person or thing, whatever was in movement, spliced into several things…several decisions being produced. Watching birds fly to three different points on a tree, to seeing a car stop infront of an oblivious teen girl to then watching the chances of it hitting her too all in the matter of moments.
He moved out from the street and into a little vintage shop, hoping to gain clarity and solitude for a moment. His head felt less dizzy after he rubbed his eyes a few times, wondering if he was drugged or not. It wasn’t until the clerk asked him if he needed help, which he swiftly dismissed with a shake of his head and off to a rack to breath. “What the fuck?” he thought, before wondering what had happened. He’d spend several hours after that wondering more and more, but simultaneously worried about why it felt so comfortable too. It didn’t feel like a drug, like a blanket you borrowed from a friend to use—it felt apart of him, like he spend days and weeks making a blanket only to use it intimately.
ANYTHING ELSE?
Favorite colour is probably slate but recently I’ve been digging forest green a ton.
Also more so I’ve missed you all and this RP a ton, and stoked that I have the time now to devote to it than I did last summer. I have my own computer, myown place, and a better work schedule (even if I’m still gonna travel more and camp more)

Excluding non-binary, are there any genders for the open roles that are set in stone?
nope! if the gender is not specified, it’s up to the player.
