Bruh wtf is up with the Kalim vs Jamil discourse.

Canonically, they're both children that can't control the circumstances of their birth. It's neither of their faults, hello?

Of course Jamil would be resentful of his situation. And while he's wrong to blame Kalim for it and take it out on him, it makes sense. He's not able to do anything about the people in power. Kalim is the only one he has access to. If he was going to lash out at anybody, the only person he could do it to is Kalim.

And the resentment has literally been kept from Kalim. He has no reason to suspect Jamil holds this resentment because the adults around them have done everything to prevent him from learning about it. The only person that could have told him was Jamil himself, who feared for the safety of himself and his family if he fell out of the Al Asims good graces.

In an ideal situation, Jamil would have communicated his feelings and Kalim, being the sweet boy he is, would have set him free without a second thought, despite the fact that it meant he would no longer have anybody he could trust in his home. But they are not in an ideal situation. And as things are now, while they're both still teenagers, neither of them can change things yet.

I need to make an Ace appreciation post while playing Chapter 7 because while I rip on him all the time, I also really love him just as much as Deuce and really appreciate how he shares his love for his friends in a way that is such an authentic teenage boy.

Like, while Grim and Deuce are getting openly upset about the idea of you going home, he openly antagonizes Grim to strike the bad mood down and get everybody in a better headspace again.

And while it might not be the best idea in the long run, bottling up feelings so they can come back later and stronger when the problem reaches a head cough like every Overblot has done cough it is a very teenage thing to do, and very indicative of Ace as a person.

Because he doesn't think about his long term goals. I don't think Ace knows what he's doing next week, let alone years from now. Deuce has long term goals in mind. Become an honors student, make his mom proud, maybe even become a magic police officer. Ace lives a lot more in the moment, and doesn't think about the consequences of his actions.

Which is something we've seen all the way back in the prologue, fighting with Grim and burning the Queen of Hearts statue, or skipping out on the punishment with no thought to if he'd get caught or not. He drags the others into these quickly planned schemes too, usually Deuce and Grim

He isn't open with his feelings at all, like most teenager and men aren't. Even if his actions clearly state he cares for you, he'll be making fun of you at the same time because he thinks caring is embarrassing because he's a teenage boy.

And I really hope that him admitting he cares about something a lot is how he gets his Unique Magic, since Deuce had to confront a flaw of his own.

I don't know if I've made a post about this or not and I'm too lazy to scroll through my blog, so fuck it we ball.

What if blot is even more toxic to MC because they don't have any magic in their body to act as a "buffer?" What if it gradually accumulates throughout the story, until at some point it reaches a peak and they get insanely sick?

They feel like shit for a few weeks, having a few moments where their nose runs or they cough something up. But instead of snot or phlegm, it's a dark, inky substance.

They start lashing out when they're feeling at their worst, head spinning while their blood boils. They can't even hear their friends as cruel, undeserved thoughts echo in their mind: a remnant of the trauma held by the boys they'd thus far faced.

"It's not fair."

"Why am I the one who has to go through this?"

"Why won't anybody try to understand?"

They vaguely feel the ink slipping out of their nose, dribbling from their mouth, even now sliding down their face like tears.

"...ct. Prefect? Dude, are you even listening?"

And then it just explodes.
