I am finally working on an animatic as completing a few was part of my art goals for 2024... And like... do you ever just stare at the current frame... then glance over to the plan and get guiltier and guiltier about what you're about to do? XD

To discourage outright hate while also being comfortable to post here, you could turn off anon asks! That would eliminate most troller’s ignition into trying to rage bait you. I really think you have so much potential here but also understand why you want to stay on instagram :/

I've considered it!

But I do block all hateful anon-asks that come in, and I definitely get waaaaay more nice asks than I do hateful ones.

Lot of my readers on ao3 are anonymous and I guess they're more comfortable asking questions anonymously and rambling about my fics is probably one of my fave activities so I'd hate to lose that :D

Instagram is my nice clean art art space.

How do you think baby Cass feels about Aunt Willow?

Oooooh, controversial opinion but I say that just like with Rapunzel, Willow is TOO MUCH for Cass at first.

Willow would be on one of her hyperactive speeches about adventures which usually won her over any child and Cass is just staring at her like 'try harder' XD

Okay, the computer decided to just stop syncing up the files so there's plenty of WIPs left behind but oh my, I'm already soooo happy with how my folder is looking!

Next time I feel like doing line-art or colouring or rendering specifically I finally, finally have OPTIONS!!!!!

FINALLY TRANSFERRING MY WIPS TO THE PC!!!! :D

I kept putting off the task of getting my WIPs from the ipad onto the computer so they can stand a chance of being complete XD

For weeks now I just opened up my WIP folder on the pc and then stared sadly at the three options as though I didn't have twenty options on my ipad just waiting for me to bring them over XD

Duty and Family - Fic Guide

New fic out tomorrow! Yay!

I'm really starting to struggle with creating guides that don't contain an excessive amount of spoilers as the two final arcs with their names revoked indicates.

It used to be so easy as arcs were representative of episodes and had semi-contained stories, but moving forwards it's more of a continuous story and the arcs just make re-reads and finding stuff easier...

But yeah, I'm doing what I can XD

I am very excited for some of the scenes in this upcoming fic and look forward to sharing :D

Are you worried that by moving over to Instagram you'll lose the community you've formed on tumblr? I've been told artists do better on tumblr than instagram due to the differences in algorithm?

Interesting question!

By community do you mean followers, mutuals? Either way... I definitely had my doubts. And I do feel bad for anybody who only follows my art on tumblr and now misses out on some pieces (I try to remember to post the linked pieces here but I do forget way too often), but overall I wouldn't say I'm scared.

I've been posting art on tumblr for well over a year and a half, meanwhile I've been on instagram for less than four months. Despite this on average art posts get better numbers on Instagram, I am well on the way to having more followers on Instagram than tumblr, and I've noticed the art tends to be relevant for at least 24 hours there, where as tumblr if it does not reach people in the first hours on tumblr it is DEAD.

Tumblr from my understanding doesn't have an algorithm, it's just organic.... my art did not thrive with tumblr. Maybe it's because my art is just not good enough and people didn't want it on their blog (understandable), maybe it's timezone related! either way, instagram has been working better for me. And the fact that there is an algorithm feels better for my mental health.

On tumblr when I spent eight hours on a drawing and it got four likes I thought 'oh my god, this art is sooooo bad, nobody likes it, I should burn it and quit trying to make art, it'll never be good enough'.

On instagram if the same happens I can just shrug and go 'guess the algorithm didn't want to show it to people'.

I know that's stupid, but if blaming the algorithm makes me feel better about my art, than I think that's good :D

Plus... I have a feed that is pretty much 100% art on instagram, most of my followers are fellow artists and I just feel really good about it.

Honestly, if you've only tried tumblr for art and it's not working for you, I definitely recommend trying instagram, I think every artists is different and thereby the ideal social media site for them is also different, but personally I am happy I switched it up.

Especially now it was leaked tumblr is just using our art to train AI.

Do you interact with other artists or just people who contact you directly?

I don't really know what you mean by 'interact with other artists'... like, reblog/like art? Or do you mean straight up messaging people to do collabs and stuff?

I might be reading too much into this XD

Either way, right now, I do mostly interact with people who contact me first.

There was a time I used to be super social, reblogging all the art I saw, trying to leave good feedback, like, looking at the piece carefully, looking at the details to really see the stuff people don't notice because they're scrolling through soooo much art nowadays.

I was doing the same with fics, trying to make detailed reviews and just make artists feel seen because I KNOW how much it hurts to spend like eight ours on a drawing and have 3 people like it.

I even tries to do a bunch of fanart for fics I enjoyed! That was great... I really miss that XD

And then I just got a TON of anonymous hate here on tumblr, I was told my fics were bad, my art was bad, and that I should be dead....

And my mental health and my TRUST (that is the best word) in tumblr, in the tangled fandom and in artist communities just has not recovered yet XD

I'm quite a bit more interactive with art on Instagram! When I have some free time I love to scroll and try to leave actual comments instead of just likes because that is so much amazing art on that platform that never gets a single comment and deserves it!

But on tumblr I tend to only rarely enter the dashboard and NEVER do I browse through tags or anything beyond those I follow. It gives me anxiety whenever I try.

I do love whenever I am given the opportunity to interact with another artist, but on tumblr it's just not worth the weight on my mental health.

I hope that all makes sense and wasn't too rambly, I might not have even understood the question? And I'm sorry if it comes off as defensive at all because I do feel super guilty for not giving artists on tumblr the love they deserve, but gotta put the mental health first :D

Plus, I feel like Cass would be one of those kids that are just made of rubber. Like, bouncing around everything but also, falls and jumps right back up and continues running around.

And Cap hasn't spent enough time around kids to realise this is normal so every time she falls he's already preparing for the worse but nah, Cass just jumps up and continues running in circles.

Also, going back to Cap promising her safety and being protective because my mind is now on that...

I love the way in the show Cass tells him he's not letting her be a guard because she's his daughter, showing she knows he's protective of her, but doesn't really say it with any malice, she isn't upset with him for being protective and Cap doesn't deny it. It shows how that protectiveness NEVER lacked love. Like, it might have gone a pinch too far when Cass clearly wanted to be a guard rather than a servant, and had the skills to do so. But it never went far enough that Cass felt any hate towards him.

When Cass does get angry at him it's first for not standing up for her and allowing the king to send her away and then later for not letting her about where she came from.

I really wish we'd seen more of a conclusion to that latter thing as I'd love to know if Cap kept it from her for protection, if it was more a 'you never actually asked and I didn't find a good moment to bring it up' thing... I've even headcanoned at some point that he didn't tell her at the request of Arianna because Cass, as a child in the palace, would see the grieving mother and Ari wouldn't want Cass to feel in any way connected to that grief.

But alas the series never gave them as much time as they deserved.... more room for headcanons and fics though! :D

Plus, I think those first few months are the same amount of time Cap will need to process the fact his kid isn't going to just fall and break like a piece of glass. Cause, oh my, going into work on a normal tuesday and by the end of the day having a four-year-old daughter must be quite jarring.

The fact the very first thing Cap ever does with Cass is put a helmet on her and promise safety I think shows how his first priority is protection.

I will never get over him putting the helmet on her ❤️
