currently i’m a 2nd semester sophomore, and i’ve learned so many important things over the course of the 4 semesters i’ve been at university. this is just a list of tips i found helpful or eye-opening. (also, i’m going to leave out tips that i’ve seen often) i hope they are of use to all of you !
in the classroom:
find a seat near the plug-point if you take digital notes, you’re going to find yourself running out of battery one day, and it’s going to suck if you can’t take notes on your device because of a dead device. even if you take paper notes, charging your phone will always come in handy. being by a plug-point seems like a minor tip, but it’s super important !
if you find that the place you usually sit is surrounded by noisy/distracting students, MOVE i don’t know how important this is. make your environment a perfect one. if there are chatty students behind you and you find it really hard to understand the lecture, get outta there. you’re going to find your focus is stronger when you can hear the professor. also, if you sit near students who watch videos or scroll through social media and find that this distracts you, move. you’re going to accidentally look over their shoulder and miss the lecture
please don’t check your phone every second this is going to affect your focus big time. just don’t do it. put it on vibrate if you’re waiting for a notification/call and keep it away.
at the beginning of the semester, find out what previous students have told the professor about study habits that worked for them most often that not, students will tell their professors what’s worked for them. ask your professor to share this information with you ! some students will find that taking book notes was helpful after hearing the day’s lecture. sometimes students will think it’s more helpful to read the book before attending class. it’s your final call, but take the time to find out what’s helped others ! chances are, certain ideas might help you too.
free time:
use your time wisely i’m not telling you to study every single minute, but i’m also warning you against hanging out with friends the entire time too. if between classes you have an hour’s break, try to use that time wisely. if you have a large exam coming up, use that time to study. if you’ve just finished a crazy week and have nothing major due soon, use that time to relax. it’s all about balance
take advantage of uni pianos even if you can’t play, it’s really therapeutic to sit near the campus pianos and listen to students play. music is so soothing, and if the player isn’t singing along, it’s the perfect ambience for studying.
explore your campus find spots you can be productive in. find places where you and your friends can get together and hang out. find places where you can be by yourself and enjoy alone time. your campus is full of different places, all waiting for you to explore !
take advantage of student discounts/freebies my university offers free tickets for the gardens and the museums, and often i’ll find myself wandering in there with friends or by myself. it’s a great opportunity to learn something, relax, or have fun !
acquaint yourself with the staff be friendly with the workers at the cafes, little food stalls in your buildings, and the janitors. everyone is worth a “hello” and some kindness ! and they will repay your kindness in the most wonderful ways ! i remember leaving my lunch at home, and the cafe girl gave me a free cookie because she knew me so well. little gestures make the biggest differences in both their lives and your life.
in the room:
keep it neat, cozy, and “you” your room doesn’t have to be completely bare, but also keep it from being a museum of things. keep a hamper and immediately dispose of clothing. once the hamper fills up, do the laundry. dirty clothing in a room after a while really smell bad. throw away wrappers, trash, and leftover food as soon as your done with it. bugs or vermin are the worst. fans and little heaters are your best friends. bring speakers to listen to your media through—it’s the best way to complete your habit.
open the windows occasionally you need fresh air. it’s so important to get some breeze through sometimes. also, you may not be aware of smells, but a roommate/suitemate will be able to smell anything different. open up the windows and flush out all the bad and let in all that good !
keep “emergency” food. you never know when you’re going to get hungry—if the cafeteria is closed when you’re craving food, you’ll really save yourself. vending machine food is also in most dorms, but if you don’t want to partake in vending machine food, it’s really best to keep some food with you.
extra sheets keep an extra pair of sheets. you never know when you’re going to spill food or bodily fluids on the sheets.
vacuum regularly hair, dust, food, etc. will become their own entities by the first month in your room, so take the time to vacuum yourself, even if that means asking the janitor/cleaner for the vacuum cleaner.
teachers:
if you like a teacher and find yourself in love with their class, become their best friend whether your ulterior motive is for recommendation letters or not, having a teacher you can go to and chat with is the best. a generally wiser and more aware mind is always good to have around, and if you’re not in the position to communicate with siblings/parents often, take the opportunity to get to know a professor well.
show your teacher appreciation somehow. gifts, cards, origami, verbal-appreciation: anything that lets the teacher know that you appreciate their teaching/impact on you, do it. you may not know how big of an impact you’ll make on them for doing so. i gifted a professor a mug after the semester way over, and she sent me the most heart-warming email and told me shed tears after opening up my card. these things are just beautiful experiences that you definitely will be happy for after.
attend their outside-of-class lectures lots of teachers will present on their research or be invited to lecture about something somewhere on campus. these have proved to be extremely useful !!! this allows you to meet all sorts of people, staff, researchers, etc. connections are made in places like these, so attend !!

100 days of productivity - {Day 6}
- I had to do again my studying schedule since I did not include my exercises I wanted to begin
- I unboxed my last boxes from when I moved in this apartment. It's been almost 4 months, but it was things I don't normally use like old notes from previous classes and so on.
I did not post this week since I had no classes. Classes are resuming tomorrow with my English exam and I barely studied. I totally procrastinated this week and I needed it for my mental health . I don't know about you guys, but season change this year's really rough on my mood and trying to stay awake. Can I be a besr and sleep all winter? 😪
I'll also resume my (almost) daily posting. Hope you are well!

i’ve been really productive the past few months, which is actually quite rare for me bc i’m a slave to procrastination i get burnt out v easily. this time was a little different, i managed to keep my productivity levels really high for a whole 2 months all the way until exams ended, studying every single day without fail, around 10 hours a day, when i used to only do an average of 3 or 4. so here’s what worked for me and what didn’t!
what works: schedule your day
what happens when ur a virgo studyblr? u plan. i would write out everything i needed to accomplish for the day, the night before, and be really specific about it. i would then plug in the timings, this works for me, but u can choose to put the time in first and plan what u want to do around the time.
a structured time plan pressures me and i end up getting everything done, especially when i set an alarm on my phone for all the timings!
what does not: cramming a lot of hours into a day
12+ hour work days are ideal, especially when u watch all the ‘study with me: 14 hour work day!’ youtube videos, but they are just tedious and unreasonable.
let’s face it, even if u do complete one or two long study days, ur just gonna get bored and tired and have no mood to continuing this for a week or more. slow and steady wins the race!
what works: tweaking the pomodoro technique
i hate the pomodoro method. at the 25 minute mark, i’m normally on a roll and super focused on the task; and the 5 minute breaks were too short for me to actually take a break.
that’s why i tweaked it to 45-minute study sessions with 10-minute breaks, and after 3 study sessions, a 30-minute break. longer study sessions meant i get a break when i really start to get restless, and longer breaks gave me more time to recharge. i suggest tweaking this to match what works for you.
what does not work; doing too many / too little subjects a day
1. u don’t want to cram all the same topics and subjects into one day. ultimately, it’s a choice of spending 8 hours solely on a subject / topic and not touching it for the next few days / weeks, OR doing just 2 or 3 hours of one subject / topic each day over a few days / week
2. just thinking about doing only one subject for a whole day already tires me out. i have tried it, but normally i get so sick and tired of it that after a few hours, i can’t bring myself to focus on it any longer. on the contrary, if i keep switching between subjects, i get super confused because i have to remember too much of very different info.
what works: leaving the last portion of your day ambiguous
i like to start and end my days early. but in the process, i found a benefit of ending them early: i end up w a chunk of time at the end where there are two scenarios:
i’m super motivated and want to continue studying
i’m rly tired and cannot bring myself to continue bc i need a break !1!!
surprisingly, option 1 does happen a lot. and i think this is a rly good work-life balance. u don’t get burnt out easily, but from time to time, u get a bonus extra few hours of work done!
what does not work: forgoing sleep
sleep is so important omg. 3 hours of studying while sleepy = 1 hour of studying when ur refreshed and ur brain’s working. a tired mind is a slow mind, and an awake mind is a fast mind!
do not worry about that rly hard chapter that u must understand and complete! ur mind continue to works even when ur sleeping, i assume bc it’s rewiring and sorting through new information. after waking up, i find myself being able to better remember and understand information that i struggled on the night before!
what works: finding out ur energy levels and use it to ur advantage
some people work best at 6am and can’t focus after 9pm, some people can’t focus before 11am and work best at midnight. take note of and chart ur energy levels throughout the day for about a week or so, are u particularly refreshed in the morning? do u feel urself always dozing off at 4? are u the most productive at night?
work ur body clock out and work around it! every body functions differently! like in the last point, 3 hours of studying at ur worst energy levels = 1 hour of studying at ur peak energy level! forcing urself to work when ur body refuses to do so will only lead to procrastination.
i sincerely hope these few tips can help u out w being productive! what are some of the things u do to get shit done?

The more disciplined you are,
The more easier your life will be 💋
Self Discipline is a crucial factor for your success, we are living in a world full of distractions bombarded by things that promise us happiness
Self discipline is hard and it will take way longer than you think but know it is worth it!
Define a goal worth fighting for, your life can change if you accomplish this goal
This goal will be the guiding light to the shore, look within yourself and look for the pillars in life: life, family, money, health and power
Money will help you reshape your life and have the biggest impact in your learning,experience, and the elevation of your life
Remove distractions, people who control their environment are the people who control their lives!
The goal comes first! The goal you pick will change your life, it needs to be priority, everything else should fall in 2nd place
Don’t wait for it to feel right, most people are average because they give up, you have to keep going
MOTIVATION is overrated! People talk too much about about trying to lose weight or things that they’re gon do! Don’t be them!
Force yourself, you are not your body, you are your MIND!
People only look at end result! Know that you won’t have any audience throughout your journey but remind yourself that the end result will be worth it
Learn to rest not quit
Reward yourself to recharge
Never take failure too deep,
It can take 100 failures
But a single right move/idea can change your life. Keep getting better and try again.

100 days of productivity challenge - Day 5 {October 20th}
- I'll try to get the hang of posting everyday. Sometimes I just feel like I don't do much so it's not interesting.
- Today was a bit more about planning. I did my studying schedule again to leave me a bit of fun times between my study sessions
- I also did my bujo for next week. I will do my future weeks next weekend, since I like to have a few weeks drawn before I use them.
- Tomorrow is election day! I'll go early in the morning since I need to change my address to vote.
I admit I didn't do much studying today, I didn't have much energy. It's getting darker sooner and I feel like it affects my mood a little. It's the first time ever in my life something like this happens. Maybe it's what getting older is like?

Seems Tumblr doesn't like when you save a draft, edit it and then post it because it never saved my changes and I have to begin my post again.
100 days of productivity challenge - Day 4 {October 18}
- After three exams in three days, here I am, relaxing a bit at home and doing a bit of bujournaling for next week
- I had class this morning and I can understand i will probably have a good score on my test I did earlier this week, but not as good as I though
- Next week it's the elections! I hope everything will be going well. I will try to go early so I won't need to think about it

Day 3 - productivity challenge
- my terminology exam is tomorrow. Wish me luck! I studied all evening and will wake early morning to study a bit more
- then, back to work! My translation exam Thursday morning is online, so I will be doing it from the comfort of my pajamas and my home. Surely with a good tea or coffee.
- Friday morning will be my last class before my school break. Even if I work that week I will probably do either more hours at work for more money, or begin my painting project in my apartment.
Featuring: a sunrise and trees from where I work. I love fall 🍁🍂❤

Oh yes this. When I will have some time ( that means probably next summer ha! ) I'd to to try and make a new wardrobe full of suits nice vibrant patterns for my curvy body.
Please, I implore you, do not be intimidated by sewing.
If you try to make a thing and it turns out bad then it’s ok, you learned stuff by doing that. I see so many people say they want to sew stuff but are scared of screwing up, but it’s nothing to be afraid of!! Find some cheap thrift store fabric or secondhand clothes to cut up if you’re worried about wasting costly materials, but please just try sewing the things you want to!

Ha, I already failed to follow the challenge, so I'll start again. It's exams time here in Canada, so not a lot of sleep but a lot of tea and coffee!
Productivity challenge - Day 1 {October 13th}
- I made a list of what I wanted to do this long weekend (it's Thanksgiving here in Canada)
- I worked on my online test for two days straight. Even if I could use my notes, the questions were so hard :,(
Day 2 {October 14th}
- Finished my online test from yesterday, yay me!
- Here is my notes from when I was studying terminology, as well as my textbook
- Took out the clim out of my window, since it's already cold here
I hope I can now follow through this challenge. I'll kick myself in the ass if I need to!

{1/100 days of productivity}
It's been months I wanted to start this challenge and I finally have the guts (and time ha) to post.
- Did English exercises. I am late so I'll need to do many more being up to date.
- Reading my book for terminology class tomorrow.
It's only 8PM here but I am now so used to go to sleep at 9-ish I already feel sleepy. 😫 help
It's also becoming darker faster these days. Fall is my favourite season, but shorter days are making me sad a bit 🙁

Inktober
I feel like I should do Inktober this year. It’s been years now I follow artists I like doing this challenge, but it’s been so long since I drew even a little doodle. Should I do it only for the satisfaction I did it? I don’t want to feel ridiculed
