Damn, gotta rename myself to usi-thatAluxRisingguy.
Love to hear that my ramblings are appreciated. <3
I decided to rewatch episodes 1 and 2 of Alux Rising to get a better understanding of character motives and to kind of re-understand the current events happening within the series. Then, in the first episode, I caught this interaction between Alux and Petro. Here in comic form with dialogue, illustrated by me.
This conversation had so much unknown foreshadowing and fit so well with the characters I couldn't resist drawing it.
(I remember someone saying that Petros' betrayal is foreshadowed in the first five minutes of the first episode, this might be the conversation they may be referring to. With Petro weirdly playing devils advocate for the Angel of Darkness.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
More Petro and a bit of Alux yapping under the cut (once I start, I can't stop)
Petro is obviously an evil, selfish character, but I never really noticed how Power Hungry he actually is.
When talking about the Angel of Darkness and how she was sealed away, by the end of it, he tries to justify what the Angel of Darkness and her army did.
"...but to others, they may respect them for pushing themselves to reach a goal that they desire and deserve."
Despite the obvious immoral and heinous actions taken by the Angel of Darkness, Petro tries to pass off those actions by saying that "it's not our place to say."
And by saying how one could respect the Angel of Darkness and those that fall under her, because they were persistent and unwavering in their goal of total control over Cozen, speaking volumes on how Petro sees his role in his plan to bring back the Angel of Darkness.
He even goes so far enough to say that the Angel of Darkness and her subjects are DESERVING of their power and control over Cozen.
Petro thinks, that because he is a subject of the Angel of Darkness, he deserves power over Cozen. That's why he tries to kill Alux in the first place. Not only that just being his motive, but he can't fully manipulate Alux into believing his narrative.
At the end of the conversation, Alux says something like, "Yeah, I guess" in an unenthusiastic tone. It's like a "Whatever you say, Petro" Alux is making.
He ain't falling if Diesel boys BS about the Angel!!!!!! And that's why Petro needs to get rid of him!!!!!!
● ----------------------- ●
Side note: Petro "killing" Alux always threw me for a loop for a bit. Petro could have easily manipulated Alux and become his right-hand man while Alux became king. With Alux's destress of becoming king, Petro could have built a stronger emotional bond with Alux and become more involved in what Alux does as king.
But because Petro is so full of himself for being a servant to the Angel of Darkness, he doesn't want to act as some sort of helper to Alux. Petro does not care for others, and will use them to get what he wants, like what he is doing with Mark. Just like how the Angel of Darkness did not care for her subjects, only using them to fight her battles for her to take control.

Holy shit! I didn't catch that! Well, more vague connections to Alux and The Dark Angel are apparent, but I didn't think of the Dark Angel being trapped in Alux's necklace! If she is, how can she appear as a Whisp? We know that some not so savory things are happening to guards with Clark and... that whole situation (burn him like Petros' mother), so maybe some of her magic is seeping through her stone prison? OH! Maybe when Petro met Alux, that's how Petro was able to get in contact with the Whisp!
There's a lot to unpack in that situation if Alux has an indirect tie to the Dark Angel. There could be a possibility that what Alux does is tied to how the Dark Angels magic appears.
Doesn't the Whisp only show up when Alux became FREE? Does keeping Alux in the castle keep the Dark Angel in her prison?
Would killing Alux completely free the Dark Angel? Jeez, imma need to rewatch everything again 😵‍💫

Decided to make ep.6 ending scene a bit more dramatic LOL. ^u^
Tumblr media
Late night theorizing under the cut, lol.
The ending scene of Episode 6 of AR put me off a bit. What Petro says at the end of the episode really puzzles me.
When Mark was complaining about how he had to cover for a guard who left early, and intern make himself late to his own plans, Petro says that "it was nice of him" to do so.
It's innocuous, but it's out of place for me.
It's not the overall message that "this action shows Mark is an inherently kind and reliable person," but it's the specific word Petro uses to describe Mark and what he did.
"That was nice of you."
Why "nice"?
"Nice" here is a synonym/substitute for "Kind," as Mark is "having or showing a friendly, generous, and considerate nature."
Kind.
"Nice" is defined as being "pleasant, agreeable, or satisfactory."
When Petro says, "That was nice of you." He means that not only it was 'pleasant, agreeable, or satisfactory' of Mark to cover for the guard and sacrifice some of his time to do so, but that inturn makes Mark is a "pleasant, agreeable, or satisfactory' person for doing such.
It's not just a comment on Marks action, but a comment of his character as well.
The main difference between the words "nice" and "kind" is that "being kind" has a air of nobility and honorably. "Being nice" has a air of plesetry and preferablely.
Mark isn't noble or "kind" to Petro for his selfless action, He's preferable or "nice" to Petro for selfless his action.
It's a small difference in definition, but a big difference in implications.
Mark is obviously a pawn to Petro, but Petro going out of his way to "compliment" Mark is such subtle manipulation from him. Even Mark doesn't understand the underlying meaning Petro comment has.
This will inevitably lead to Petro's betrayal of Mark, obviously, but it's so interesting to see the first seeds of manipulation being sowed. Maybe, Petro can sucsseful manipulate Mark to come to his side and bring back the Dark Angel. This would just be the beginning point of such convincing.
Or I may be ENTIERLY wrong and Petro could just be trying to keep up aperances by seeming friendly. (Still manipulation so half a point for me. SCORE!!!!)

Oh no, I'm just a crazy about as you are.
I also thought about Petros mother dying in the house fire. To make him Even more fuck up, I kind thought that maybe he burned his house down and lock his mother inside to leave her to burn.
His mother may have dabble in magic while in Cozen, and then was compared to the Dark Angel. Maybe she is. Maybe she isn't. Rn the Whisp seems to be acting like a stand-in for his mother, but really isn't.
While his mother was accused, the townsfolk and Cozen guards order to take care of whatever was happening took in him in and tried to convince him his mother was the Dark Angel Reincarnated, but he didn't believe it. For taking his mother's side, he was forced to burn down his own home with his mother in it. (I love making up trauma)
Eventually, the Dark Angel found him (maybe she knew because his mother was a magic user and maybe had ties to her) and decided that with his new trauma, he would be a good candidate to bring her back and take over rule again.
He went out of Cozen to study magic and get closer to Whisp, then returned to take down the Cozen Kingdom. Yadda yadda, cue beginning of AR.
With this made-up backstory, I feel like it explains some actions, motives, and dialogue made by the Whisp and Petro. Whisp used to live in the castle, implying she had control over Cozen at one point, and Petro would have destain for Cozen authority, explaining why he would infiltrate the Cozen Kingdom to topple it so the Whisp can take over again.
You and me both are major Petro yappers. 🫱🫲 🤝

The Ride Home
The Pepper family seem to have become Alux's family he never had, not just a second family like Ben says. It's sad to see him leave them so soon, but with how they are to him now, I'm sure later on we'll see them again. Maybe when Alux is in trouble and needs a place to stay. By then, maybe the tea will spill that he's a prince. Even then, they'll see his integrity and kindness and assure him that if anybody else were to be, Alux would be King of Cozen.
