Small life update

I recently started playing Metro: 2033 on my Nintendo Switch and I like it so much I bought the book, but it turned out my mum already had the book, so I went back to the book shop and got the book Metro: 2034 instead. It's the first time I read/play something like this, but I really enjoy this post-apocalyptic storytelling!

Sonnet on tiredness

I feel so tired just like I am dead

Just want to sleep and rest forever now

I really want to see my sweet, sweet bed

My sweet, sweet bed is to whom I will bow

My tiredness is eating me alive

It will not stop until it can consume

My whole existance; it will only thrive

The tiredness will keep itself in bloom

It may be strong, I may be weak today

I hope it will not take me over soon

The tiredness just makes my mind so grey

It lasts as long as I can see the moon

I really want it to be gone for good

New Things to Beware on the Internet

On May 3rd, Google released 8 new top-level domains (TLDs) -- these are new values like .com, .org, .biz, domain names. These new TLDs were made available for public registration via any domain registrar on May 10th.

Usually, this should be a cool info, move on with your life and largely ignore it moment.

Except a couple of these new domain names are common file type extensions: ".zip" and ".mov".

This means typing out a file name could resolve into a link that takes you to one of these new URLs, whether it's in an email, on your tumblr blog post, a tweet, or in file explorer on your desktop.

What was previously plain text could now resolve as link and go to a malicious website where people are expecting to go to a file and therefore download malware without realizing it.

Folk monitoring these new domain registrations are already seeing some clearly malicious actors registering and setting this up. Some are squatting the domain names trying to point out what a bad idea this was. Some already trying to steal your login in credentials and personal info.

This is what we're seeing only 12 days into the domains being available. Only 5 days being publicly available.

What can you do? For now, be very careful where you type in .zip or .mov, watch what website URLs you're on, don't enable automatic downloads, be very careful when visiting any site on these new domains, and do not type in file names without spaces or other interrupters.

I'm seeing security officers for companies talking about wholesale blocking .zip and .mov domains from within the company's internet, and that's probably wise.

Be cautious out there.

My work (yet again just thought this was fun)

And so the story is called “In a Different Light”, taking place in the Ethros Empire (A fantasy version of many empires, such as the Holy Roman Empire, combined). The main character, Leopold, is a prince, second to the crown. This he finds unfair, as he is the oldest brother, but it is called ‘righteous’ by his father and others as he is an illegitimate child. And so his goal throughout the beginning of the story is to find a way to become first to the crown, to be the greatest ruler his empire has seen, and one of the solutions is to kill his brother, Wilhelm.

His brother is your average child, and it’s ironic how he avoids all responsibility and longs for an easy life with his friends.

Going back to the main conflict, Leopold reached out to a guild, asking them for information on the crown prince, so he can figure out the way to kill him without getting his hands all too dirty. Though upon the request, he is asked to meet with the guild leader as the missions will be costly.

After many random adventures between Leopold, Marativer (the leader of the guild), and friends he makes along the way, Leopold begins to realize some things. One of the things being that he may not want to kill his brother. That his brother is kind and caring, but doesn’t even find himself fit as ruler. Sure, everything begins to fall into place as a happy ending where everybody gets what they want, but little do they know there is a subplot, where villains run a-mock.

How they solve this is the real question everyone has in the end, but that I won’t reveal. You’re gonna have to wait till I write the whole thing. :)

I hope you liked the idea btw, worked hard on this over the course of a few months.
