chthon was born from the sentient primordial blackness known as the demiurge, alongside gaea, set, isuus, and oshtur. set and chthon began killing their siblings in order to absorb their power —- gaea and the demiurge then created atum, the demogorge, the god-eater. chthon scribed his knowledge into the darkhold, bound in indestructible flesh, before fleeing the god-eater in the earthly realm, safely into his own pocket dimension.
his entire purpose since then has been to reclaim earth and the kingdom he lost. & i cannot stress enough how utteraly cruel and unsympathetic he is. there is no ounce of love for humans or even his own creations —- he cares only because he claims ownership & he really, really hates for his authority to be disputed. he created the pre-cataclysmic lineage of werewolves, vampires, and various other, far more vicious elderspawn. he is the mad god scientist.
wanda’s ability to usurp him was a shock. probably the first shock he ever actually experienced in 4.5+ billion years. he saw it as a betrayal — but also, he felt an odd reverence for the sheer audacity of her going for it. his own creation was his ruin, as he made her the ultimate vessel for chaos and in the end, the power chose her over him. she was better suited. imagine his rage.
in the irony of cosmic ironies, it would be wanda’s son that would merge to become the demiurge, chthon’s father. also, time is never linear.

I'd love if Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness draws on this art as inspiration for its posters. Just saying.

Scarlet Witch Character Development
Okay, I went back and rewatched age of ultron before rewatching civil war. I noticed that Wanda’s powers changed. In aou they were like a liquid and flowed.
Tumblr media
I feel as if the way her powers move describe her as a character at that point in time. In aou she is angry and that anger clouds her judgement, her powers are rough, out of control. Where as in cacw, they seem more under control, she holds balls of energy instead of just letting it flow.
Tumblr media
I think it shows that she has control over her eomotions and how they effect her powers. She isn’t angry, nothing is clouding her judgement (nothing we know of, except maybe the accords.).
Side by side difference.
Tumblr media
I don’t know, maybe it is just the way the directors see her powers. Joss sees them as a fluid, constantly moving and the russo bothers see it as a ball, with small flames flickering off of them. Maybe her powers will change again in Infinity War but judging from what we have seen it doesn’t look like it

Perhaps the Truth Points To Itself
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay, here's some speculative analyzing of the MCU, and where things could be going in Infinity War.
"Fear Chthon before all others." - Chthon
"I can't control their fear, only my own." -Wanda Maximoff
"I can show you your worst fears" - Wanda Maximoff
"For my part, I would lap upon your fears" - Chthon
"Humans are odd, they think that order and chaos are opposites." - Vision
"I'm still me...I think." - Wanda Maximoff
Tumblr media
Wanda and Pietro miraculously survived a Stark bomb which did not go off. This was when MCU Wanda was at around the same age as Chthon intervened in Mystic Arcana.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chthon needs a vessel to return to Earth, because his mystical energies are so vast that they would rupture the universe were he to attempt to personally travel from the Flickering Realms (his dimension) to Earth.
But humans cannot channel or sustain his enormous power, so Chthon needs to augment said vessel after implanting a fraction of his soul into the vessel, so his power can be accessed.
Thus, the Mind Stone is used to this end. The Other, Chthon's avatar, gives Loki the sceptre, knowing he will fail in his mission and lose the sceptre. A deleted scene in Avengers (search for "The Other tells Loki to Lead" on YouTube). Note that the mind stone in the sceptre is hidden in a blue casing.
Thanos is never seen in possession of the Mind Stone, meaning it's not 100% certain he had it.
Peter Quill survived the Power Stone due to him having a portion of Ego's essence within him.
According to the Collector, you have to be powerful before you come into contact with an infinity stone, otherwise you die.
Wanda and Pietro survived the sceptre, when everyone else died. I propose that because Chthon imbued them with his essence.
Fascinatingly, The Other, who could be an avatar of Chthon, is shown using telepathy and super speed in Avengers.
It makes sense that Wanda would first use telepathy and telekinesis, due to those resulting from the mind stone augmenting her mind.
The Infinity Stones control Time, Space, Mind, Reality, Soul, and Power. But Chthon developed a mystic art that could harness Chaos.
Chaos Magic is the strongest magic in the Marvel Universe. Strange wields Order Magic, created by Chthon's sister and rival, Oshtur. Remember, all knowledge of Chaos Magic was likely destroyed by the sorcerers of Kamar-Taj, meaning Strange has zero understanding of Wanda's power.
Order magic is learned based on study and knowledge.
Chaos magic is innate and is connected to emotion and will.
Another thing to consider is that the Ancient One drew upon Dormammu's power to protect Earth from beings such as Chthon.
This is spookily similar to Wanda using Chthon's power. Why make the Ancient One, a character who did no such thing in the comics, such an echo of Wanda?
Tumblr media
So, I come to how Wanda and Vision complement each other. Vision is discovering his humanity, while Wanda is seeking to hold onto hers.
"To see if we could become something more." - Vision
The line is alluding to Vision and Wanda's arcs. Furthermore, the Russo's have mentioned Wanda's move away from humanity. Chthon sought to remove her humanity so he could possess her in Nights of Wundagore.
Vision possesses the Mind Stone, which he seeks to master. If he does so, he will not need a physical body. If he has the power to enter minds, he can appear as if physical.
Also, he could, for example, even make people see Wanda as he sees her.
Wanda has the latent ability to wield Chaos itself. In so doing, she uses dark magic for good.
Given Wanda touched the cradle just prior to her observing that Vision was "dreaming", could it be that she imbued the mind stone with chaos and emotion, making it become truly sentient?
Remember, Chaos Magic is all about emotion.
If Wanda were to direct a hex bolt at the gauntlet, Vision, via the mind stone, could send that energy into the other stones.
Order and Chaos combined can challenge even the gauntlet.
Mind is, after all, Order.
Emotion is Chaos.
Thus, Wanda and Vision represent true "balance"; each is a result of combining Order and Chaos.
