Goblin Music and Theater

This is from my campaign setting Leaf Grey Isle for fantasy campaigns.

Goblin Instruments -

Guffaw - Unlike the bagpipe, a common Goblin instrument due to the ease of playing it which just involves blowing and squeezing to make as much noise as possible, the guffaw takes the concept of a bagpipe and removes the pipes. Though a guffaw resembles typically a large cushion or bladder filled with air, it has several large 'tubes' which can be gripped and 'milked' to leak air out, producing rhythmic flatulence. This tends to aid in most Goblin productions as each note can vary in both vibration and pitch, so a skilled Guffaw player, known respectfully as a 'Big Squeezer or Lil' Squeezer' can produce long pronounced sounds that are incredibly distracting.

The use of a Guffaw for bards is almost exclusive to goblins, though some gnomes and halflings have picked up the usage. A few orcs and gnolls even enjoy the Guffaw as the instrument provides the flavor of meat in one's mouth while playing, masking the pungent taste of the built up air that is sometimes left to gestate for days before a big performance.

The guffaw that has been 'overripened' however is a worrisome instrument as it like most goblin things, if left unchecked can result in loss of life and limb due to the explosive nature of it. Simple milking can reduce the tendency of explosions, but even still, many a goblin musician has gone out with a bang.

Explosives - A larger portion of the goblin audience has taken to claiming that bombs and explosives make the best music. This is generally debated mid combat amongst devoted fans of the 'Booma' culture. Though it's very hard to hear anything after a 'Booma' concert, it's very memorable, especially if you go home with concert scarring or a bard signing one of your no longer useful limbs. Some younger Goblin fans find it best to get limbs blown off and signed, selling them a premium to other fans so that they can afford the next show (as opposed to paying for much needed medical treatment).

Hardcore Booma fans will try and make it to a concert through almost any hardship and savvy Goblin bards always leave a cart for their biggest fans as premium seating as the lack of limbs allows many Booma fans to literally be stacked on one another to thrash around as they listen to their favorite sounds of conflagration.

Hamboning - Though originally thought to come from either Halfling or Human origin, the rhythmic percussive of slapping one's body was quickly a favorite among Goblin comedy acts. Better acts soon followed as they were able to create intricate melodies and songs using the striking of other band members and their own large rubbery cheeks to attain incredible performances. Though most Goblins would be hardpressed to say that Hamboning isn't a crude act of culinary murder cooking, once you actually describe it to them, almost any Goblin will light up and tell you their favorite song. Just watch your thighs as they are quick to slap it out on others.

Tiktiks - Similar to Hamboning but wholly a Goblin invention, TikTiks are a collection of a small batch of thin metal rods or bones that Goblin bards use to stroke along or click at their various teeth. Despite the off putting sight of a Goblin smiling or opening their maw quite wide, the sounds are probably the most pleasant of all Goblin instruments produced to non Goblin fans.

Premiere Tiktik players known as 'Tappas' are often found walking around with bags of various teeth that they often substitute out between songs. High end Tappas are sometimes seen asking humanoids for one of their own teeth, claiming to know that it will help enhance their own sets of teeth for musical purposes.

Belching and Flatulence - Bodily functions are considered some of the peak of musical accompaniment for Goblin songs, often requiring hearty meals prior to a performance. Non practiced bards will dismiss bodily functions as music, but a trained Goblin bard is able to produce flatulence more akin to honks and true toots, almost causing disbelief at how much it doesn't sound like one's personal exiting.

A goblin's ability to mimic other noises with their belches continues as some theaters will employ master belchers known as 'Mawmaws' and flatulence users known as 'Poppas' to add impress in house sounds such as thunder, monstrous roars, and powerful rushing winds.

Scholars are still trying to figure out how Goblins can in fact produce larger louder sounds than their frames imply, but they just seem to built to be rather noisy as their larger mouths allow for better cacophony of their interpretive musical skills.
