I’ve been living some of my stormiest moments in recent days/weeks/I’ve lost count, and finding Alex & Henry has anchored me, soothed me, been something to hold onto when I don’t feel so real.

Omg can we talk about how baby Shadowheart looks like Boo from monsters inc. They always said she was a brave little girl, i can totally picture her chasing around big scary monsters giggling “Kitty!” as a really little kid lol maybe she used to do the same with the local wildlife, scrabbling around to snatch any escaping squirrels or wolves, much to the exasperation of her parents lol girl probly had no chill

omg pls rise 😭 lmao I will be writing it into the series after the wedding! (There's a lot on the to-do list!) I only have HC's for now and we've gone through most of them! I thought of a few more for now:

(More) Shadowheart Pregnancy HC's

-When she's a few months into the pregnancy, Shadowheart begins to disappear for pockets of time throughout the day while they work at the cottage. At first, Tav is obviously quite concerned. She finds Shadowheart napping against Daphne and some of the horses in the sun. Tav lets her nap and does the work, coming to wake her before she burns laying out in the sun for too long. This happens daily, I think.

-Protective Tav training even harder bc she’s the only one fit to protect everyone in their household. Shadowheart might still be deadly as ever, but Tav sees herself as a protector, now. And how could she not? Shadowheart’s parents, the baby, and Shadowheart herself are her family 🥹 she’s a knight, protection is what she knows. It’s part of her love language. She’s extra vigilant, now.

-Shadowheart's libido is still wild (if not increased?) and I think poor Tav exhausts herself working each day and then exhausts herself catering to her wife's needs at night. She's a real giver 😊

-Arnell and Emmeline tell Shadowheart a new story about her childhood each day. She and Tav LOVE hearing about baby Shadowheart’s exploits, imagining what their child will be like, which mannerisms she’ll pick up, etc. They also help Tav and Shadowheart make a crib, make clothing for the baby, and make meals for Shadowheart's (now very picky) self. They give Shadowheart advice and keep her from spiraling when she fears she won’t be a good mother. She gets to have her parents with her every step of the way 🥹💕

-in fact, Tav and Shadowheart BOTH freak out semi-regularly about not being good parents. Tav was a noble who had everything done for her- and then she became a knight. She can dress some wounds, protect people, fight like no other- but she doesn’t know the first thing about motherhood. Shadowheart was supposed to be the equivalent of a cult assassin 😅 they can’t really cook well (Emmeline is teaching them!), they’ve gotten the hang of caring for the animals- but a human child is a very different story. So Arnell and Emmeline help them. Teach them the basics. Cooking, feeding, how to hold and rock the baby, how to put the baby to sleep. (A lot of it comes instinctively, in the end, but their presence makes them both feel so supported and prepared!)

-Morning sickness for Shadowheart 😔 Tav holds her hair, brings her food, takes the food away when Shadowheart complains the scent only makes her feel worse 💀 the first time it happens, Shadowheart tries to keep Tav away, but Tav is having none of that. Shadowheart learns that there simply isn’t a universe in which Tav will ever be repulsed by her, especially now. I think it might bring them even closer than they previously thought possible. Tav also rubs her down with warm oils and massages her almost nightly.

-when Shadowheart is pregnant, Tav reflects on her own childhood, her father’s poor treatment of her. I think she finally sees this as her chance to heal that trauma, to ensure that she will be the best kind of parent- a loving and caring one. She will give her daughter what she never had. After returning to her family estate and finding what she did there- I think this is the closure she needs.

-Tav speaking to the baby and feeling her kick for the first time???? She cries and cries. Shadowheart gently rests a hand over hers and they just sit like that together. Tav can hear the baby’s heartbeat in the final month or so and she’s over the moon. She refers to them as “my hearts” (plural now 🥰).
