dude, my man had trust issues at the craziest level. he was so afraid to open himself up to other people. he would cry his eyes out in the bathroom until they started to hurt him because he always thought that people would hurt or betray him and when james showed him that people can have pure intentions, he couldn't figure it out if he was telling the truth. there were two people in his mind, one wanted to believe james but the other did not.

he finally convinced himself that he can trust james but remus? he was just a friend. a very good, funny and naughty friend that he loves to be around but it was never more than that. it took such a long time for sirius to understand what he actually feels, to understand that his mind was desperately protecting him from getting hurt again all this time.

one evening he put his head down onto remus's shoulder to have a break and for the first time in his life he was feeling safe. not panicked, not careful, not alarmed. he didn't understand what it was but he loved it. he loved how remus made him feel. then he fell for him so badly that he created a new way of loving someone. while remus was in love with him the whole time.
