I'm going to tell my kids that this is the original Dragon Ball.

This was an idea that popped into my head recently and since 2024 is The Year of the Dragon, I wanted to draw a Dragon-type Pokemon that I haven't drawn for a very long time, and that Pokemon is Dragonite. I've only drawn Dragonite twice up to this point and considering that fact, I wanted to gain some additional experience drawing one of my favorite Dragon-type Pokemon.

Let me tell you, drawing Dragonite isn't easy, regardless of which angle or pose you're going for. The most difficult part of drawing this cute, magnificent creature was its face as I tend to have a hard time drawing it correctly. As for the body, that was a challenge in itself as I have never seen a Dragonite depicted like this, or in a similar pose so, I had to mostly play it by ear and draw it in a way that would make the most sense to me. That's what made it that much more challenging, but fun and incredibly satisfying once I finished drawing it. Regardless of the difficulty and complexity of this drawing, I'm very happy with the way this turned out in the end!

Special thanks to @MitoidTheRodz on Twitter for sharing a new reference image for Dragonite from the Pokemon anime! It really helped me out, especially considering the angle I was going for with them, thus, being able to fix up Dragonite's face from the previous WIP I shared a few days ago!

Annabeth: (going through mail) Let's see. Message from Chiron. They might need us again, Seaweed Brain.

Percy: (rolls eyes) Again? Oh joy!

Annabeth: If we're planning on helping out with the quest, we're supposed to meet up at Thalia's tree the day after tomorrow. He reminds us that as retired campers we're not obligated to help out. Only if we want to.

Percy: Yeah right. Like we're such lousy friends that we'd just let Leo and those other guys risk their lives without chipping in our part or being there to watch their backs.

Annabeth: (sighs) Yeah... Chiron knows us. He knows fully well that we'll agree.

Percy: You think we'll ever get to retire from this hero bit and live relatively normal lives, Wise Girl?

Annabeth: Probably not. Our lives have turned into one of those seemingly never-ending TV shows. You think the characters will finally catch a break... but then some bigger evil always comes along. Like Dragon Ball Z...

Percy: By the gods! I surely hope not. I'd hate to think of our group going up against super androids or something.

Annabeth: Well, Seaweed Brain. Let's get ready and go do what we do. Hang with our friends...

Percy: ...and beat up some baddies!

Annabeth: I have to admit. It'll be kind of nice to be with everybody again. We kind of became like a big family on the Argo II. It seems weird when the gang isn't there to greet us at breakfast.

Percy: You know, I pretty much feel exactly the same way.

Annabeth: (smiles) I knew it!

This is me wanting to draw that Gohan and Goten reunion we never got in the buu saga. Like both were dead and one thought the other to be dead.

This started cause I was talking to a friend of Gotens character in regards to Goku at first Goku is hyped up to him this untouchable heroic hero. He sees how everyone feels about him but he feels not much for his Dad other what he was told and he’s scared to approach. Then, reality kicks in his Dad isn’t that… Gohan is “killed” and Goten and Trunks and thrusted into the role of saviors of the Earth. Goten resents him but then… he learns that Goku isn’t none of that he’s real, super approachable, and awesome. It beat the stories he was told.

Then, he realizes he never felt he was missing that love because he had a lot of it. Gohan was always there for him making sure nothing was missing for Goten. Goten realizes he is very lucky to have Gohan. Anyway not me explaining my comic in the comments
