There’s a foreign language issue we have to deal with. Certain languages have gendered elements which differ depending on whether the art portrays a male or female creature. This keeps us (mostly) having new art match the same gender as the original art.

How does that mistake even happen? Did the publisher’s legal team miss it or did they think they get away with that in a foreign edition? Did the palace threaten to sue? It must cost a fortune to print, then pull and reprint a book. I hope that costs Omid from what they were supposed to pay him .
It wasn’t a mistake. They did it on purpose to release the name without legal responsibility.

With the Energon Universe in full swing and actually beginning to sell people on GI Joe’s concept (replacing Murican soldiers and evil terrorists with a military based spy thriller and an ancient conspiracy of snake people respectively), some people are inevitably wondering what other franchises Hasbro will try to ask Kirkman to put into the universe. So far he has been adamant that Skybound will only publish four Energon Universe comics at a time, but given that the Joe miniseries will eventually lead into a single ongoing, as well as Hasbro presumably wanting to sell more properties for toys and/or future media, it’s worth looking at what they still have the rights to and the odds of them showing up.
MASK - The trademark was just renewed today, and is probably the most likely thing to appear. Funny thing is Hasbro aren’t even the original owners, having acquired MASK and the GoBots in the purchase of Tonka. For years there have been attempts to merge MASK into GI Joe as one of its many, many sub-divisions (alongside such real toy lines as Battle Corps, Mega Marines, Ninja Force, Eco-Warriors, and Star Brigade) and the ground-up approach of the Energon Universe makes it really easy. Humanity studies Cybertronians, and soon an elite force has vehicles that turn into other vehicles, with pilots that use the trademark masks. Best part is as a Joe subdivision, they won’t even need a new book.
Action Man - Another “we could throw it into Joe if need be” license, although one that may seem far more redundant. Funny enough, Action Man started as the European brand of GI Joe’s original toys (because they wanted a less American centric name in foreign markets) but unlike MASK, they add little to Joe as it exists. Not a likely addition.
Visionaries - Here’s one that likely won’t be seen unless they cameo in Void Rivals. Visionaries was re-introduced in IDW’s continuity in a crossover with Transformers that was widely reviled by just about everybody and failed to spark interest in a brand revival. While the Void Rivals crew might end up near Prysmos, it’s highly unlikely.
Jem - The red headed stepchild of Hasbro’s brands, Jem hasn’t been touched since a very poorly selling IDW comic series that was divisive to put it mildly and a movie that made made $2 million on a $5 million production budget and was widely reviled. While there is some merit to the idea of having a comic looking at society while both the Transformers are on Earth and Joe is fighting Cobra from a civilian perspective, Hasbro will probably be loathe to use Jem again. The ONLY way I can see Jem appearing is in a one-shot akin to Neon Genesis IMPACTS, an Evangelion one shot made for the Japan Animators Expo about an idol group making a go at a career during the events of Evangelion that ends with them all being killed during an episode of the series proper. If Hasbro signs off on a one shot comic about Jem and the Holograms getting killed by Decepticons, it’s probably them washing their hands of the franchise.
As for other franchises? Hasbro no longer has the rights to the Inhumanoids, ROM the Spaceknight is back at Marvel where they’re reprinting his iconic 80s run, and My Little Pony is still at IDW. So unless I missed something, those are all the major Hasbro franchises that could end up being put into the Energon Universe unless Hasbro wants to try scraping their board games for ideas.

Wa-hey, two 100 OC Challenge posts tonight (because I totally forgot I was missing entries 61-64 lol). And rather than wait until I caught up on all the old uncolored images, I decided I'd just do all pics going forward in color.
Anyway, we've reached the sixteen (!!!) characters of the RPG I wanted to make in college, Silmerein. I never made the game, but the story stayed near and dear to my heart, so I decided I'd give the characters a little mock-up dialogue box. Since the game heavily (albeit accidentally) cribbed from Grandia II, I decided to lean into that with these redesigns. As always, new images up top, old below, and detailed character info (and essentially the story of the game) below the cut.

I wrote up a summary of the intended story of this RPG a few years ago for a friend, so I'll reprint that here and cover just up to the end of Amestris's story: I birthed a whole concept for an RPG based around a single idea: what if your kawaii waifu healer was actually the villain?
Story starts a few centuries after the invasion of the avatar of a SUPREME EVIL GOD from a foreign land. Most of the continent the majority of the game takes place on is ravaged, but a lone woman blessed with divine power manages to beat back the demon hordes, fight the avatar for a week straight, and then strike him down with a MIGHTY BLOW, forever encasing the two of them in stone.
A religion forms around the woman, Silmerein, a holy city is built around the monument, civilization rebuilds. Not everybody's down with the religion, of course, but it becomes one of the major institutions of the continent.
Shortly before our story starts, the continent gets hit with a variety of plagues.
To most, they don't seem related - people in the heartland slowly losing function in their arms, the desert people going blind, various other maladies. On top of this, there's been an uptick in mysterious monsters being spotted in the wilderness.
Our starter hero, one Talin Stockman is one such plague victim. But his is a little different from the other victims in his hometown. As it turns out, his entire left arm has become monstrously deformed, and occasionally has a nasty habit of trying to strangle him in his sleep.
But he keeps it under wraps and works diligently at his family's general store, until it's visited by a young cleric of Silmerein, Lima Rayel.
Sometime that night, the village - and more specifically, Talin - is attacked by one of the mysterious monsters, and Lima comes to his rescue. She has a theory as to what's going on: she believes that the plagues are actually being caused by the essence of the avatar of Rodimir (aforementioned evil foreign god) escaping its prison and leaking out into the world. She thinks that it may be searching for hosts to concentrate and gestate within in order to return to power. And Talin happens to be one of those hosts, what with his monster-attracting arm. So, she tells him her plan: travel to the plague-affected lands, find the hosts, and bring them to Silmerein so they can be purified at the monument.
So she and Talin set off to ADVENTURE. Their first target actually winds up coming to them: the elf thief Abarashil Faed. The wood elves mostly avoided contracting any plague, and that was because Faed hadn't been anywhere near their city in a few years, having already been exiled for murder (we'll get to that later).
So like the pieces of Valmar [from Grandia II], each host tended to have a specific part that was affected, and in Faed's case, it was his tongue. So he'd be prone to fits of uncontrollable chattering in languages he couldn't understand, which is very not helpful when you're trying to ambush people and steal their shit. Also, in actual combat, each host would get a super mode where they turned into a massive monster related to what part of their body was infected. I think Talin turned into a giant wolf, but Faed definitely turned into a snake. It functioned kind of like Milennia's rage mode.
Anyway, I think most of Faed's plot was he steals our party's wagon (because Talin's a merchant so he planned on selling shit between towns) and accidentally kidnaps Lima, they find out he's infected, you get your first boss fight against his corrupted snake mode, and then he joins the party because he'd really like to not do the uncontrollable talking thing anymore.
Next, your team headed to the desert city of Esteed, which is currently super locked down against foreigners, doubly so against people from Silmerein.
Shortly before the plague hit the city, their queen, Melpomene the Raven, went on a mission to Silmerein and never returned. Esteed never had a good relationship with Silmerein to begin with because they already had their own chief religion before the end times happened, and they really didn't appreciate missionaries constantly trying to convert them. But now they thought the Silmereinians were the cause of the plague.
Somehow, you get inside, though, just in time to see the inaugural parade for the new queen, Amestris the Phoenix. Lima's got a sense for hosts, and she's convinced Amestris is the next one, so they try to figure out a way to talk to her and tell her what's up, but no dice. They were lucky enough just to get into the city to begin with.
So instead, Faed breaks into her palace at night, tries to talk to her in her room, has a one-on-one fight, and just manages to convince her to listen. She says, "fine, I'll listen, but you have to do something for me first. Our city's been under constant siege by these horrible monsters. You ensure my people are safe, I'll go with you."
So your trio heads into the desert and fights some critters. You go back to the palace with proof, Amestris is like "Alright, cool, we'll head out tomorrow," and then fate decides that's the perfect time for Amestris's definitely infected eye to summon another horde.
So now everyone's convinced that this was an orchestrated attack, your squad gets tossed in the dungeon, and Amestris prepares drastic measures once the fighting stops. The next day, she's going to enact an ancient ritual to summon the gods and end this bullshit once and for all, and said ritual involves her burning to death on a massive funeral pyre while the city prays in unison.
So Lima's like "Okay, no, we gotta stop that, we don't know what'll happen if she dies with the host part still in her." You get out of the dungeon, fight your way to the city's coliseum and Lima manages to stop Amestris before she burns, but Amestris's eye goes out of control, like Talin's arm and Faed's tongue did, and she turns into a giant fucked-up phoenix and you fight her atop the pyre. You kick her ass, take her back to the palace, and tell her what's up.
So she's like, "Alright, well, that didn't work and I guess you guys really do know what's going on, so I kinda have no choice but to go. Maybe I can figure out what happened to my sister."
And the story continues in the next batch of character art!

Villain loves grand and exquisite things, known to be dramatic by everyone that it soon became their signature. And so, the criminal chose the opposite for their civilian identity.
A bland and boring office worker living in a cheap and average apartment building. Though it took them quite some time to get used to such a lifestyle, they've soon took a liking to it. A menace at night and a peaceful boring worker at day. Everything had been calm and relaxing until a new person moved in next door.
That person not only look like a gangster but acted like one too! Every single day, they come out of their room and all they'll ever do is whine and complain and pick a fight left and right! When they're inside their room, they'd blast ear piercing and migraine inducing songs that the thin walls would soon give out on with all the trembling caused by it!
Needless to say, Villain has had enough of it. They went to approach them about it but one thing led to another and the criminal's gentle complaint turned into an argument and the argument turned into a full blown fight which would've ended with the other person unconscious had the other residents not stepped in to stop them.
So the day was going swimmingly. The criminal sustained a few wounds and scratches but nothing too serious, well except for the black eye forming. It also didn't help that Villain has a meeting with Supervillain that night. They contemplated wearing shades to hide it but that seems rather plain, so Villain chose to wear an eyepatch.
They stood in front of Supervillain's office door and straightened themself. They wore a white button up with 4 of its top buttons open and its sleeves rolled up. A coat hang loosely on their shoulders. It isn't practical for a meeting but it matches beautifully with their eyepatch. Their knock was answered with a low and rather tired sounding "come in."
Villain never expected anything when they entered, and certainly not seeing the master criminal read through their documents with shades on. Supervillain is known by the public as Villain's equal in terms of aesthetics. Regal, composed, intimidating. Supervillain carries themself with such dignity it was rather foreign seeing them like that.
"Am I right to assume that I have permission to ask exactly what are you doing?" The criminal moved forward.
Supervillain let out a long exasperated sigh as they leaned back on their chair, "I'm working, obviously."
"With shades on?"
"It's all in braille."
"Right..." Villain trailed off, looking over the documents that had been reprinted to be in braille, "Why are you wearing that anyway?"
"Black eye." Supervillain tipped the glasses down to reveal their black eye and a few scratches just below their eyebrows, "Some bland bastard next door picked a fight with me earlier today, they were lucky I was holding back. Honestly didn't think they'd have the guts to fight."

Witches Abroad thoughts...
A while ago I linked to a news article about plans to add a content note to reprints of Pterry's earliest works. This book needs one.
I get that Pterry was aiming to show that cultural differences aren't bad, they're just differences, and people are just people wherever you go. But it's all done through the eyes of two very English-coded ladies, one of whom is merrily traipsing around the Disc being an obnoxious tourist, while the other is grumpily struggling to admit that 'foreigners' might almost be acceptable sometimes. No one ever calls out Nanny Ogg for being rude and ignorant - it's just played for laughs, and even if we're meant to disapprove, there are no consequences for her behaviour - in fact, her behaviour ends up saving a village from a vampire, suggesting her ignorance is a net positive.
Plus every look at the non-English-coded characters and cultures is done from a very of-its-time colonial English stance - foreign is weird and foreigners eat things that are weird and unpleasant and it's okay to observe foreign cultures but best to go home and enjoy non-foreign things, even if you do take the long way home and see the elephant.
I did appreciate the little bit of Weatherwax family backstory we get, particularly Granny's seething rage at having been forced into the role of 'the good one' even as a child, to placate her parents in the wake of Lily's behaviour.
I wish we'd got to see more of the Genua magic system, although if Pterry had done that at the time, it still would have been done through that colonial lens. Maybe later-Pterry could have written that in a more respectful way? But this is probably my least favourite witches book, and it's a shame because generally I love the witches books.

1892 – Stewart Mitchell (d.1957) was an American poet, editor, and professor of English literature. Mitchell’s editorship of The Dial magazine signaled a pivotal shift in content from political articles to aesthetics in art and literature.
Mitchell was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. After graduating from Harvard University in 1916 he taught English literature at the University of Wisconsin. He resigned his position for political reasons, frustrated that he was forced to give a "politician's son who should have been flunked" passing grades. Mitchell enlisted in the army, serving in France until he was discharged as a private two years later.
Mitchell returned to the United States and was hired by Scofield Thayer and James Sibley Watson as managing editor of their joint project, The Dial. Mitchell, in association with Gilbert Seldes, was managing editor from 1919-1920. His appointment as editor marked a shift in the influential, modernist little magazine’s focus on politics to an artistic, literary theme.
Mitchell’s work for The Dial involved not only editing but, as was common with the majority of The Dial's editors, active involvement with and submissions to the creative or literary content.
Mitchell’s associating with The Dial proved advantageous and profitable to his own literary career. He completed and sold a volume of poetry that was published in 1921. Several of the poems in his collection were first printed in The Dial. These were reprinted with permission from Scofield Thayer. Following Mitchell’s resignation as editor, he continued to submit book reviews as well as poetry.
His desire to travel led Mitchell to give up editorship of The Dial and pursue further education abroad. In 1922, following two years’ study at the University of Montpellier and Jesus College, Cambridge, he returned to the States and lived with his elderly aunt in New York. Mitchell privately studied foreign language and literature, focusing on French and Greek, before returning to Harvard and graduating with a Ph.D. in Literature in 1933.
While completing his degree he also worked as editor for the New England Quarterly in 1928. The following year he gave up his position to become editor for the Massachusetts Historical Society. It was as a historical editor that Mitchell, according to his associates, truly excelled. His "naturally keen memory and sharp eye, coupled with a sure ear for words and an occasionally brilliant wit, permitted him to excel." After eleven years' service he resigned but was recalled in 1947 as Director and editor.
Mitchell's long-time partner was Richard David Cowan (1909-1939), a student of Cornell University in the 1920s who met Mitchell in the 1930s and they lived together since then. When Mitchell died in Brookline, Massachusetts in 1957, he was buried alongside Richard Cowan, who had died before him.
While at Harvard in his youth, he befriended the poet e.e. cummings who drew the the above sketch of Mitchell.

1913 – Robert Friend (d.1998) was an American-born poet and translator. After moving to Israel, he became a professor of English literature at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
Friend was born in 1913 in Brooklyn, New York, to a family of Russian Jewish immigrants. He was the eldest of five children. After studying at Brooklyn College, Harvard and Cambridge, he taught English literature and writing in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Panama, France, England, and Germany. He settled in Israel in 1950, where he lived the rest of his life. He taught English and American Literature at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem for over thirty years. He was well known in Israel as an English-language poet and a translator of Hebrew poetry.
Robert Friend was gay, and his sexuality found expression in his poetry well before the Stonewall era. According to Edward Field in the Greenwood Encyclopedia of American Poetry, Shadow on the Sun is "remarkable in that, for its time, it contains so many poems about the author's homosexuality." Friend's openness continued throughout his writing career.

1942 – Rosa von Praunheim is a German film director, author, painter and gay rights activist. Openly gay, he is one of the initiators of the gay rights movement in Germany.
A prolific director, he has made over fifty feature films. He began his career associated to the New German Cinema as a senior member of the Berlin school of underground filmmaking.
Born Holger Mitschwitzki, he spent his early years in East Berlin. In 1953, he escaped from East Germany with his family to West Germany. In the 60s, he took the artistic female name Rosa Von Praunheim to remind people of the pink triangle that homosexuals had to wear in Nazi concentration camps.
A pioneer of Queer Cinema, von Praunheim has been an activist in the gay rights movement. He was an early advocate of AIDS awareness and safer sex, but has been a controversial figure even within the gay community. His films center on gay related themes and strong female characters. His works are characterized by excess and employ a campy style. His films have featured such personalities as Jayne County, Vaginal Davis, Divine, and Jeff Stryker.
Praunheim's first big feature film was produced in 1970: Die Bettwurst(The Bolsters), a parody of bourgeois marriage. It became a cult movie, which had a sequel in 1973 (Berliner Bettwurst). In the same year, he also caused a stir with his documentary It Is Not the Homosexual Who Is Perverse, But the Society in Which He Lives which led to several gay rights groups being founded.Praunheim has centered his directorial efforts in documentaries featuring gay related themes. In the early 1970s he lived for some time in the United States where he made a series of documentaries about post- Stonewall American gay scene. In Army of Lovers or Revolt of the Perverts (1972-1976) he took on the American gay and lesbian movement from the 1950's to 1976.
Back in Berlin he made feature films such as Red Love (1980), Our Corpses Are Still Alive (1981), and City of Lost Souls (1983). These films were shown in film festivals worldwide.
With the irruption of the AIDS epidemic, Praunheim worked in a tetralogy of AIDS themed documentaries. A Virus Knows No Morals (1985), was one of the first feature films about AIDS. The documentaries Positive and Silence = Death, both shot in 1989 deal with aspects of AIDS activism in New York. Fire Under Your Ass (1990) focuses about AIDS in Berlin.
In Germany Rosa was very vocal in his efforts to educate people about the danger of AIDS and the necessity of practicing Safer Sex. These efforts alienated many gays who came to consider him a moralistic panic-monger. He would remain a highly controversial figure in his native country. On 10 December 1991 Praunheim created a scandal in Germany when he outed, among others, the anchorman Alfred Biolek, the comedian Hape Kerkeling and wrongly the actor Götz George in the TV show Explosiv - Der heiße Stuhl as gay. After the show several celebrities had their coming out. In 1999 he made Geisendörfer Medienpreis for Wunderbares Wrodow, a documentary about the people in and around a German village and its castle.
He lives in Berlin with his companion and assistant Oliver Sechting.

1955 – Bruno Tonioli is an Italian-born British choreographer and TV personality who appears as a judge on the television dance competition Strictly Come Dancing for BBC TV in the UK, and its American adaptation Dancing with the Stars on ABC TV in the US, Tonioli co-created and appeared on the BBC talent show DanceX and its short-lived American adaptation, Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann.
Born in Italy, Tonioli is fluent in Italian, English, Portuguese, Spanish, and French.Tonioli is openly homosexual, and has spoken of the homophobic bullying he suffered in his youth.
In the early 1970s, Tonioli was a member of the Paris-based company La Grande Eugène and later joined the Lindsay Kemp Company. He worked extensively as a freelance dancer, including an appearance in Elton John's "I'm Still Standing" video.
Tonioli has worked in the music business as a choreographer for music videos, stage shows, and tours for artists such as Tina Turner, Sting, Elton John, The Rolling Stones, Freddie Mercury, Sinitta, Boy George, and Duran Duran. His close association with Bananarama produced many videos, from "Venus" to "Movin' On". Tonioli choreographed the band Arcadia's music video for their song "Election Day" as documented in a 1980s documentary entitled The Making of Election Day.Tonioli's motion picture credits include Ella Enchanted, The Gathering Storm, Little Voice, Dancin' thru the Dark, Enigma, The Parole Officer, and What a Girl Wants. His television film credits include Miss Marple The Body in the Library, Blonde Bombshell, Scarlet Pimpernel and The Bare Necessities. Theatre credits include La Vie Parisienne, Godspell, Steve Coogan's show The Man Who Thinks He's It, and "Forbidden Passion" (BBC TV trilogy in 1985, entitled Oscar in the UK) playing manservant to Oscar Wilde (Michael Gambon).

1968 – Craig Seymour is an American writer, photographer, celebrity interviewer, music critic and former stripper. He was born in Washington, D.C.. He has written for The Washington Post, Entertainment Weekly, Vibe, and Spin, among other publications, and has served as pop music critic for The Buffalo News and the The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Heis now Associate Professor of Journalism at Northern Illinois University. He lives in Chicago.
He has interviewed and profiled some of the biggest names in music, including Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, and Luther Vandross, who granted him numerous interviews. Seymour has also been a music analyst for CNN's Headline News.
As a graduate student at the University of Maryland in the 1990s, Seymour started frequenting and working in the strip clubs in Washington D.C. while writing his master's thesis: "Desire and Dollar Bills: An Ethnography of a Gay Male Striptease Club." He used these experiences to write the book All I Could Bare: My Life in the Strip Clubs of Gay Washington, D.C. Seymour stated that stripping gave him the confidence he needed to interview big stars like Mariah Carey.
In an interview with Dallas Voice, Seymour credited his stripping career with "the ease I had asking celebrities extremely personal questions, especially those having to do with sex and relationships. After all, when someone is playing with your dick in public, it's not only potentially awkward for you, the one being played with, it can also be weird for the person doing the playing, because he is exposing his desires so nakedly in front of other people."

Ullstein contracts regarding MvR’s Autobiography

Contract
Between Oberleutnant (First Lieutenant) Freiherr Manfred von Richthofen and the company Ullstein & co, Berlin, the following deal has been made:
§1 Mr. von Richthofen transfers the sole and exclusive publishing rights of his work to the company Ullstein the sole and exclusive publishing rights of his work in progress about his flying experiences (the determination of the title remains subject to mutual agreement).
The company Ullstein & Co includes this work in their library „War-Books“.
The company dictates the publishing date of the book.
The assignment of the work to be printed in newspapers and magazines is only allowed with the permission of by the publishing house Ullstein & Co, and only for fragments of the text. If fees are received for such reprints, half of these fees are to be paid to the author. The manuscript should be in the publisher's possession by the end of April this year.
§2 The author will receive a royalty of 8pf (8% of retail price) from each copy sold which is priced at M1 retail. The author is guaranteed a royalty of 8,000 (aight thousand) marks. [Handwritten Note: 10000 Marks, changed with the permission of the company E. v. Salzmann] This guarantee is payable after the approval of censorship is given.
Further billing for copies subject to royalties is made for each calendar year by April 15 of the following year at the latest. Upon request, Ullstein & Co will have the correctness of this bonus statement for the past calendar year confirmed by a court auditor.
§3 If the scope of the work exceeds the space of 256 pages in the format of the war books, the author undertakes to make appropriate cuts or, in the event that he does not make them in time or not in full, grants the publisher approval to have these cuts effected by a personality who seems suitable to them.
§3 Mr. Hauptmann von Salzmann is authorized to agree on the final determination of the text with the publisher.
§4 The publisher is entitled to sell the copyright of the work to foreign-language countries and to grant printing rights to the German text abroad, but is obliged to pay half of the fees received for this to the author.
§5 The author has the right to include his value in a complete edition of his works 10 years after the conclusion of this contract; however, the retail price of the volume in question may not be set below M-,2.
§6 The author is entitled to thirty free copies.
§7 The author grants Berlag Ullstein & Co the right of first refusal for his next 3 works related to the war under the conditions stipulated in this contract. The publisher has to decide no later than 4 weeks after receipt of the manuscript whether he wants to make use of this sales right or not.

La Fayette and the "Emkendorfer Kreis"
The Emkendorfer Kreis (the Emkendorf Circle) was a Danish-German intellectual society that focused mainly on literature, music and theological discussions. It was formed around Friederike Juliane Gräfin von Reventlow (Countess of Reventlow, pictured below.) The circle counted such luminaires like Matthias Claudius, Friedrich Gottlieb Klopstock, Matthias Claudius, Heinrich Christian Boie, Johann Heinrich Voß and Friedrich Heinrich Jacobi as its members. It was sometimes also referred to as the Weimar des Nordes (the Weimar of the North.)

The name of the group derived from the manor “Emkendorf” (pictured above) that was and to this day still is owned by the von Reventlow family. The von Reventlow family is a noble family with great influence in both Denmark and Germany. Several members of the family were diplomats and held high offices while also having significant influence on the academic and artistic landscape of their day. Although the influence of the family has diminished over the last two centuries, the family still has considerable holdings in northern Germany, is well connected and engaged in local politics. Gut Emkendorf in particular is often the venue for cultural or musical presentations, special markets were craftspeople can sell their goods as well as guided tours that touch on the regional as well as on the family history.
Gut Wittmold and Gut Lehmkuhlen, the two mansions where La Fayette and his family stayed during their exile in Danish-Holstein, are close by and the La Fayette’s as well as friends and other family members were guests at Gut Emkendorf and occasionally present when the Emkendorfer Kreis met. The relationship between the von Reventlow's and the La Fayette’s in particular was rather cold and reserved. I wrote in this post here about Friederike Juliane’s opinion on Adrienne and her sister Pauline, but there was far more to the matter.
Überhaupt hat der Aufenthalt all dieser Fremdlinge in Emkendorf dazu beigetragen, sich über die Ereignisse der Französischen Revolution genauer zu unterrichten, keineswegs aber das Urteil darüber zu mildern. Hier, wo ohnehin die alte ständische Gliederung als einzig wahre Staatsform betrachtet und deutscher Geisteskultur der Vorrang vor jeder anderen, besonders der französischen, gegeben wurde, konnten jene liberalen französischen Royalisten bei allem Mitgefühl für ihr Schicksal doch nicht auf volle Übereinstimmung mit ihren Zielen rechnen. Ein Mann wie Lafayette, der Holstein ebenfalls zu seinem Asyl für kurze Zeit erkor, ist in Emkendorf als unmittelbarer Mitschuldiger an den blutigen Anfängen der Revolution mit eisiger Kälte empfangen und wieder entlassen worden (…)

The next passage partly quotes a letter from Friedrich “Fritz“ Karl Graf von Reventlow (left, Friederike Juliane’s husband) to his brother Cay Friedrich Graf von Reventlow (right) from June 1, 1798
Übrigens war man in Emkendorf überzeugt, dass Lafayette bei „seinem stillen und eingezogenen Wesen“ sich nicht „als Werkzeug brauchen lasse“ und nicht „kleine niedrige Künste und Ränke“ anwende um „den Geist der Revolution auch im Norden zu erregen“.

My translation:
People in Emkendorf were convinced that Lafayette, with “his quiet and withdrawn nature”, would not let anyone “use him as a tool” and would not use “small low arts and intrigues” to “excite the spirit of the revolution in the north as well”.
While I myself always like to point out that La Fayette was far more than the bubbly teenager, he is often made out to be, I find it nevertheless quite remarkable that La Fayette is described here as “quite and withdrawn”. It shows once more that the last years had been a living nightmare for him and his family.

Pk abroad
Yes, Pkna and its sequels have been Italian original works, but some foreign authors have tried to replicate the mood and settings of those stories, especially to fill-in during the publishing of the original material.
In 2010 in the Netherlands some Pk short stories (both from the first canonical series and the 3rd rebooted one) were being reprinted in XD Magazine. To increase the material the dutch decided to make some original short stories set in the classic status quo of the series.
These stories are now being published in Italy in "The Club of Superheroes" title (alongside Durkwing Duck and other more classic tales).

Another foreign story starring Pk is the infamous origin story of the Duck Avenger published on Disney Adventures in the US in 2000. The Pk phenomenon was big at the time and the idea was probably to import the Duck Avenger in America (in a few years a videogame, "Chi è PK?", would have been released). But the origin story of Paperinik was likely considered too out of touch with modern audiences, so it was attempted to make a more modern origin story mixing elements from Pkna. The result was not really palatable, nor successfull. Uno and Everett were substituted by Ludwig Von Drake and Pk had a bee sidekick. Not a funny animal the shape of a bee, but a bee the size of an actual bee (albeit talking and antropomorphic).
The Secret Origin of the Duck Avenger
The story was never published outside of the US [redacted: it was published once in Poland and in the UK, but these markets aren't really hardcore Disney markets, like Italy, Brazil or Northern Europe], although some fan attempted to translate it in italian. At the moment I'm not able to retrieve this fanlation. So I will showcase some snippets of the original story:
