For Sparta! | Part 10 | Spartans' Warrior Spirit Shines

The Spartan Army massively upset all the odds to record the best season in club history and reach the Championship playoffs for the first time in 2031. Jamie Campbell Bower as Luke Castellan
Was just rewatching Stranger Things 4 (because I had nothing better to do) and I thought “Damn, One/Vecna/Henry is soo much like Luke from PJO series. A few minutes later, I searched this on tumblr, and guess what? there’s already a whole dam fandom revolving around this.
Tumblr media
LIKE LOOK AT THIS MAN!! The splitting image of Luke. From appearance to the character of “The protagonist trusts him at the beginning/is a role model figure, and then turns out to be the main villain all along”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If Jamie was like, 20 years younger (???) he surely would have been perfect for this role in the upcoming PJO series. Right actor wrong time.

Random Headcannon List of Characters
Jolie's eye socket of other pocket dimension connects her to the Marble Empire (CPC equivalence for Greece) where things that happened in the 'fictional' books that related to Greek in CPC (Dogyssey, Medusa, Tale of Deaneira) series actually really does happen - those Greek monsters exist, and one of them is biting Saffron at episode 19. Btw Monika's reference at ep 76 of Maria Kondo come from celebrity that like MK in her kingdom - The Quilt Kingdom.
Tumblr media
Blaine and Lance's academy isn't St. Cerulean like Frederick and Leland - but both uniform is blue, so I feel the name of the school will be related to blue.. I suggest "Lapis Academy"
Tumblr media
Frederick isn't a picky eater (contrasts to Leopold that dislike sweets, or Jamie that had disdain over 'healthly foods' like vegetables) - but he had tedency to eat green-colored foods, so similar with Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan but instead blue is green. This means he loves eating green vegetables like broccoli, spinach, lettuce, cabbage, etc - green fruits like green apple of granny smith, melon, lime, etc - and green flavor associates like matcha (milk green tea)
Tumblr media
In the Monochrome kingdom - the most favorite ice cream taste is Cookies and Cream because monochromatic color. Whitney associate that taste as the flavor of his childhood
Tumblr media
Maria's collection: she listens to the (Bozart/Schozart) music using grammaphone that she keep at her wardrobe, also she have soft spots to all fairy tales with female blondies in there such as Sleeping Beauty, Alice in Wonderland and Rapunzel
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lorena actually the one that cares the pets at their palace the most, not Maria with her animal gathering ability or Gwen with the vermins [like Mr Possum and Mr Rat] - She built a cat tower house for Colonel Snuggles, keeping stash of catnips for Col. Snuggles, buying treats for them - and even the one that cosplaying them [kinda shown being the one that gives them the military gears, or a skirt]
Tumblr media
[warning for dark, grim HC there] One of the horrifying taste that Jamie encounter is when the chef feeling suicidal, the food taste abruptly changes to feel like aftertaste of metallic blood. Jamie never tell anyone about it to protects the chef identity that very ashamed to ever serves a prince like that
Tumblr media
Gwen is very creative person indeed, beside creating various dishes - she also crafting a teddy bear plushie in homage for Frederick, hence the reason Frederick depicted as the bear
Lilyth (Leelathae) can draw (more tidy than a doodles), the diary of lilyth has drawings of various stuffs like Melusine emblem - the inside of the Pastel palace - the possums in the forest.. Gwen and Lorena inhirited her talent to draw, but Jamie and Maria can't draw like Jack
Tumblr media Tumblr media
working on various multiple part time job as teenager, which she's juggling as pet shop keeper - band player - dish washer
Tumblr media
Leland the one that crafting accesories for Laverne, like the necklace. He orthodidacly learns about it with books and lot of time spent in his office. He never letting anyone, even Jack - about his crafts and multiple designing that he learns by himself including making chess pieces and dress designs
Tumblr media
Thermidora know and singing "Under the Sea" because the Lobster Kingdom is near the Mermaid Kingdom - which actually exist but never be mentioned to anyone. Another case of similarity with Marble Empire, the 'fairy tales' books actually depicting real life things instead as fictional
Tumblr media
Velvet Kingdom where Renée come from specialized in the ringsmithing, everyone rings that depicted so far (Jolie's to Nell, Blaine's to Maria, Lance's to Lorena, Frederick's to Gwen) all are come from this said kingdom that masterfully crafting rings (which imbued by minor magic so always could fits the wearer) and putting it on specialized velvet ring box
Tumblr media
Prez literally studied everything from algebra to biology to finance to geography to zoology + curses, espc if depicted from fairy tales - hence she's the one that capable to checking potential CPC member with her knowledge. Her knowledge is so vast but sadly she can't teach
Tumblr media
Saffron from Foliage Kingdom and Syrah from Metallic kingdom actually come from neighboring kingdom - their border is metallic fences that has vines of ivy grows there. Their kingdom has many alliances business, which the prominent one is "Goblin's Silverwares" - which a specialized, magical wares (weapons included) that always pristine so no need to get cleaned up + imbibed to get more powerful if getting strong stuffs like venom's beast. Goblin's silverwares are very rare and expensive, with the goblins usually won't ever consider to making one to human unless a very special ocassion arise which also prevents malicious people to get it
Tumblr media
Miss Agatha's questionable book collection, she brought it from Pastel Plaza - yes the market selling smut stuff openly
Tumblr media
Beckett is the sole keeper of the "Lost and Found" corner, which actually becomes hazard things accumulator

For Sparta! | Part 2 | Final Day Excitement
The intimidating figure of 6ft 8in King Leonidas burst through the front door of Ainslie Park Stadium, muttering Greek curses as he rushed towards his office. He’d just received the news that big-name signing Asamoah Gyan had agreed a move to Bosnia just days after Leonidas had allowed backup striker Cammy Russell depart for Elgin City. That left Leonidas’ The Spartans FC with one recognised…

Mythology in Media: Dune
So, it’s no surprise that our media incorporates mythology a lot, right? I talked about it a bit before, and we can see it plainly in books like those written by Rick Riordan, as well as the “Rick Riordan Presents” books. But I always love seeing just how deeply ingrained ancient mythology is in our society. (Warning: This post will contain spoilers for the Dune Saga).
So, I’ve been rereading the Dune Saga, cause why not, right? And I really love seeing just how much inspiration Frank Herbert takes from multiple mythologies and religions. So, the name of Paul’s family, “Atreides”, is, of course, taken from Greek Mythology, specifically the myths of the Trojan War and Sparta from around that time, as the two brother Menelaus and Agamemnon, the sons of the king, Atreus, were called the Atreides (the “ides” ending in Ancient Greek actually means “descendant of”, and is used a lot in Greek Myths).
But more than that, you can see it in just the story itself. Paul Atreides can be likened to Apollo, with his presient abilities, similar to Apollo’s dominion over prophecy. Paul also played the baliset, a stringed instrument not unlike Apollo’s lyre, and moreover, he took it from Jamie, not unlike how Apollo supposedly had taken the lyre from young Hermes.
Similarities go beyond Paul, though. In Greek mythology, Artemis is supposedly born with full consciousness, and even aids her mother in birthing her brother, Apollo. Similarly, Alia Atreides, Paul’s sister, is a “pre-born”, someone born with all the ego-memories of her ancestors, and as such is conscious from birth. Alia is also called Alia of the Knife, and is considered a divine huntress of the faithless. Artemis is a goddess of the hunt and leader of the immortal Hunters of Artemis.
But the mythological and religious influences on Dune go beyond Greek mythology. Dune is heavily filled with references to Islam and Islamic culture and religion. Paul is revered as the Mahdi, the saviour of the Fremen in their messianic legends, and the Lisan al Gaib, or the “Voice from the Outer World”. Both of these words are actually taken directly from Arabic language, and moreover, they are similar to titles of messiah and prophets mentioned in Islamic texts.
Further, the Fremen people of Dune seem to be inspired by the indigenous tribes of North Africa and Middle East, with their culture and values and life style. In the appendix to Dune, “The Religion of Dune”, there are also references to ten ancient teachings, and at least half of them are clearly Islamic in nature.
The position of Emperor in the Imperium of Dune is called the “Padishah Emperor”, and Padishah is a term for ruler used in Turkish languages. Similarly, “ Sardaukar” is a Persian term for commander or prince.
The biggest thing in my view, though, is the use of the word “jihad”. It means a holy conquest in the name of Islam. Paul describes the religion of Muad’dib exclusively as a jihad, never a conquest or crusade.
I’m sure there are other similarities, but these were the ones I noticed in my rereading (I am only on book one though). Have a good day everyone!

Nykim
🔨 Are there any whump tropes that you'd love to see your OC's reactions to even though you couldn't or wouldn't put it into your actual story for whatever reason?
Kadin *snicker*
🪁 Are there other writer's OCs that you think your OC would really get along with?
And
🚥 Is there a character choice or plotline that you regret but is now canon and you feel like you can't change it?
Elli! Thanks for the ask! <3 From this ask game.
Nykim 🔨 Are there any whump tropes that you'd love to see your OC's reactions to even though you couldn't or wouldn't put it into your actual story for whatever reason?
I would've loved to see Nykim's real-time reaction to what happened to Carr in the AU 😶
Other than that, this one is a little difficult, bc I haven't written enough of Nykim to really know. I want to see how he handles some torture and betrayal, but I uh, have plans to enact that so... there's no couldn't/wouldn't. There's only when. *snickers*
Kadin *snicker* 🪁 Are there other writer's OCs that you think your OC would really get along with?
You would bring my irreverent bisexual playboy into this, wouldn't you 😂
For your oc's, Merry probably wouldn't be able to stand him lol. Damien might be amused, from a distance. I think he and Riordan would get along *wink wink*. Kadin would enjoy riling Valadan, its just so easy, you know. Cedric would likely try to kill him-so sorry, though, he can't die. I really have no clue what the kalani would do 😂
@littleperilstories' Will, I could see being fabulous friends with Kadin. Dunno about Bree, she'd probably be just as put off as Merry haha. He'd give poor Jamie a raging migraine, for sure.
My boy Kadin's a bit of a handful. He has a heart of gold though 💛
🚥 Is there a character choice or plotline that you regret but is now canon and you feel like you can't change it?
Ahhh. I wish I could mash the AU into Hidden Depths and have it ALL happen in canon. Perhaps Carr would've got tired of waiting and gone back on her own, getting captured in the process. *wistful sigh*
Although, Marcus would've had to live, and we would've missed out on some truly spectacular gore (imo, ofc. i was rather proud of that scene lol)

Hi Jamie, I love it when you talk books + post the updates of books you’ve read this year, so I wanted to ask, did you see that Goodreads Choice Awards left out many categories this year? My favorites tbh, I looked forward to read more books I found in those, like poetry and graphic novels, but apparently these categories aren’t what their tik tok users talk about so they simply cut these off ??? It’s what I’ve heard, but I’m so shocked, I only saw it today and it’s been such a bummer I’m seriously thinking of not using Goodreads anymore.
yes i have seen that! i really hate it honestly. poetry, graphic novels, and children's/middle grade were all left out and it sucks! i really don't understand why they chose to leave out three genres (popular genres at that!) just to add the romantasy category. honestly i think there need to be MORE categories, not less! i think young adult should get genre categories as well like YA mystery, YA romance, YA debut, etc. i also just don't like most of the books nominated this year tbh, the authors are VERY white and cis and the lack of transparency in the nomination process is very 🥴 and this is just petty but most of the books i've read this year that were nominated are like... not very good... and a lot of the 2023 releases i LOVED were snubbed so </3 also removing the children's/middle grade section especially sucks because that means there was literally only one year when someone other than rick riordan got to win and there are SO many fantastic children's/middle grade authors who deserve a lot better :(
all in all i'm just not impressed with the goodreads awards but i rarely am. i've tried alternatives to goodreads (the storygraph and literal) but i haven't liked them very much either. i wish goodreads would stop catering entirely to booktok! like yes there are a lot of booktok readers but there are a lot of non booktok readers too. and a book's success shouldn't depend entirely on whether or not booktok readers think the book is ~ spicy ~ enough. sigh!
