Did any of y’all see RT’s performance in the Jerma985 house flipper competition, that man somehow rolled a 40 for charisma while playing with a D20, the bullshitting was off the charts, he got a 100% mark on cleanliness while but a few frames earlier there was boxes he failed to get rid of on screen, he convinced them paint buckets he left out were on purpose, he convinced them unpainted walls were part of the design, he convinced them a whole fucking garage that was completely untouched was intended because ‘In the original barbie playhouse the garage was sold separately, I’d have destroyed it if I could’, I watch this man regularly I have never seen such pure charisma and wit from him.

cis people were not coercively assigned a sex at birth, they just are (male and female). to be molded into something youre not by external forces would not make you very cis.

"La Mort Rouge a encore tué !"

Welcome to Port-a-Lucine, the greatest city in the world! A marvellous metropolis of lights and music! Feasts and theatre! Where prosperity and glamour reigns!

None of that is false, but neither is it true. Port-a-Lucine is the capital of Dementlieu and appears to be a gorgeous city full of rich and successful people. Because everyone works hard to maintain that illusion.

Only one noble family truly remains. The rich play at being aristocracy. Those moderately off play at being rich. The poor maintain the look of middle class. And the destitute... well, there are no destitute in Ba Sing Se Port-a-Lucine, because they desperately pretend to be better off... or die.

Those who cannot maintain the illusion of this city may fall prey to the Red Death, a horrible crimson apparition. Its victims are sometimes found drained to a withered husk, but as the effect is comparable to disintegration the victims are often left little more than grey ash.

Port-a-Lucine certainly has an active nightlife, rich theatre tradition, beautiful buildings, and glorious feasts. However, it is all held together with string and fresh paint. Below the surface the city is slowly crumbling. Fine clothing is secretly patched and stitched back together. Feasts are paid for by fasting for days before. Everyone know someone important, even if they don't.

Everyone knows the lie. No one dares speak it unprompted. But a single button falling off a vest could be a disaster. Others could point out your obvious inability to maintain the latest fashion, dropping you down the social ladder and putting you at risk of destruction. A quick wit may save you, "Oh, I have clearly been eating too well at the recent parties, I am bursting out of my vest! Ha ha!"

And yet the anxiety remains.

Dementlieu is imposter syndrome writ large. It is also a land of fairytales and magic, gifts granted by honest fey and smiling devils. Beauteous illusions that let you join the ball and seek your prince, but make sure to leave by midnight. Windfalls of wealth to save you from La Mort Rouge, so you do not question the strings attached.

Bienvenue, travellers, to the greatest city in all the domains!

If this is too much ignore this, but just who do you think betrayed Undertaker and why? (Referring back to that phrase he said on the Campania) Personally think it could have been Claudia especially if Undertaker was disappointed by her dedication to the Queen as the Watch Dog. Being a Phantomhive woman and probably proud of inheriting her family legacy she probably wouldn't appreciate his attitude to Victoria. Maybe she found out what he was maybe both? If the parallel to Ivanhoe hold true (would be neat to see Yana's twist on this) he was likely betrayed as a human too? Then we all know he clearly didn't like something that the Reaper higher-ups were doing...

Who betrayed Undertaker?

That's one of those million dollar questions. Because it seems pretty likely someone (and/or an entire institution) did.

Here are some scenarios for different possibilities:

If he was betrayed as a human, it might have been someone he loved, or it might have been someone in a position of authority. I say this because those are the most-likely scenarios now, as a reaper, and I have a sneaking suspicion that most reapers deal with similar situations to the ones they dealt with as humans, and part of their punishment is not being able to end their own suffering so easily. I imagine that a reaper who takes their own life (by death scythe or something) will wind up as reapers again. Sascha is the only one I've seen who seems to think being a reaper is their "calling". Ludger hears that and thinks it's a ludicrous idea.

As a reaper, he might have been betrayed by Cloudia/Claudia, as you say. Maybe because of her loyalty to the queen? Or perhaps she got pregnant and didn't even tell him? Or... maybe she got pregnant and said she would keep her children from following in her footsteps (as watchdog, etc), but then he found out she was training them to take over for her, just as she had taken over for her own father.

Similarly, he might have felt betrayed by Vincent at some point, which would be the biggest parallel to Ivanhoe. His loyalty to the queen would be the closest parallel. His choice of Rachel for a wife would be another parallel, since Wilfred of Ivanhoe wanted to marry Rowena, and Cedric initially forbade it. Previously I'd mentioned the possibility that Vincent and Undertaker had an argument and Undertaker went away, and while Undertaker was away, the attack happened. It would help explain why it took a while for word to reach him or for him to get to the crime scene.

The last main scenario I can think of is, of course, where the reaper organization lies to reapers about their punishment -- that chance of salvation -- and undertaker finds out.

Oh! ETA: and, as I've also mentioned before, the entire purpose of collecting souls could have a lie in it... or an omission of some very important fact. Is it entertainment... an experiment... a food source for angels and/or the god of their world?

Truth is, Undertaker might feel betrayed in multiple ways by multiple people.
