Japan’s concept of confession and why Ochaco might not confess
“Confession” is a big deal in a country as subtle as Japan. Not all people have the courage to confess, but when starting official relationships confessions are often expected. This is what I know confessions to be like in the world of manga: Person A talks alone with Person B and shares with them the secrets of their heart. “I like you please accept my feelings.” This usually ends either with them going out or A being rejected by B. The usual reason for the rejection is “I like someone else.”
I’ve been having some more ideas about the day Izuku fell into Kacchan’s arms and how what Kacchan did for him was almost confessional in a way. He told Izuku what was in his heart, why he bullied him and that no matter how much he tried, he just couldn’t escape him. He called him “Izuku” and we saw the impact this had on Izuku’s face.
Tumblr media
Izuku just couldn’t believe that Kacchan was calling his name properly for the first time in 12 years, it completely shocked him, and after apologising for everything, he told Izuku, “Come home, let’s do this together. We need to help each other in this fight against AFO.”
The conclusion of this confession was that Izuku acquiesced to 1-A’s request for him to return, but it was only really possible because his attachment to Kacchan triumphed over his motivations to stay away. It was Kacchan who broke down his walls with his apology. It was Kacchan who filled him with hope that things would be better, and Kacchan who finally hammered into Izuku how important it was for him to be part of the collective. That his inclusion was very wanted and needed, and that he in turn can rely more on everyone as well. That together, they can push forward, trusting in and helping each other.
I think what hurt Izuku the most during his solo arc was being away from his friends, but especially Kacchan. Because that day in the rain, he literally gave up on his solo vigilante mindset for him. After hearing Kacchan’s unbelievable words he had patiently longed to hear for years, it was impossible for Izuku to stay away from him any longer. As he passed out, he stumbled a few steps towards Kacchan who, without missing a beat, caught him in his arms and gently held him. This embrace told us “From now on it’ll be different. I’m gonna be here for you, Izuku.”
Tumblr media
So to recap all of that... Kacchan became vulnerable and spilled what was in his heart, Izuku accepted his desires, with it all culminating in them becoming closer. Which is just like a successful romantic confession!?
I think after watching this all go down, something inside Ochaco clicked. A lot of the class are rushing over to Izuku when Kacchan catches him because they’re just so worried about him, but a few of them, Ochaco included, stay standing back. It doesn’t make much sense at all. But we’re given a zoom in of her without knowing any of the thoughts going through her mind.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They got Izuku back, but she doesn’t really seem all that happy. Momo says to her “this is just the first obstacle we aren’t done yet” and she agrees. Ochaco knows that there’s still more they as a group need to do for Izuku to make his return happen. But the fact that there’s a few panels dedicated to zooming in on her staying put, her almost emotionless face (mirroring Shoto’s) while she’s watching Kacchan save Izuku and his new unbridled intimacy he has with him - could be telling us that there’s something else she’s processing.
Is this moment somber for her because she realised the person Izuku needs the most is none other than the person he has openly admired since she first met him? The very same person who always bared his fangs at Izuku because he was scared him getting close?
Was Ochaco witnessing the beginning of something new between them and suddenly finding herself sidelined as a contender for Izuku’s affections?
Somehow… this could be what it was all about. And that’s why I think there’s a good chance Ochaco gave up her crush on Izuku for good when she witnessed Katsuki return his love and embrace him after that emotionally-charged apology. After this, a more defined distance between her and Izuku appears visible in their next scene together. A respectful distance of Izuku’s own choosing.
Tumblr media
It was like a definitive line had been drawn out that can’t and perhaps shouldn’t be crossed. Maybe they both understood that the person Izuku wanted close by his side has always been Katsuki. That desire wasn’t simply a pipe dream to Izuku anymore, it had become reality. And who is Ochaco to get in the way of that?
And then it’s almost like she is bookending Katsuki’s confession to Izuku with a confession of her own about Toga, putting a close to the Izuocha chapter and she makes a comment which feels double in meaning. “I guess that means we are the same.” or You love a boy, just like I might love a girl. (To put it bluntly)
Tumblr media
And Izuku remembers this line again after he gets separated from Kacchan and Ochaco is telling him to go. Go back to Tenko. Go back to your Kacchan.
Tumblr media
The concept of “knowing how someone feels because you love them and always watch over them” comes up from time to time in manga. In a way, that’s also a reason why Kacchan and Izuku understand each other as deeply as they do and they aren’t afraid of showing it off. They were always watching each other from a safe distance and learning things about each other in this way. I think during chapter 322, this concept is what was happening to cause such a realisation in Ochaco. (And it’s also for this reason Tsuyu, who never had feelings for Izuku, still doesn’t get it.)
It was hard for her, knowing everything she does about Izuku’s deep attachment to Kacchan, to learn that Izuku’s affections for him weren’t one-sided and they were now closer than ever before… That’s why I don’t think she’ll want to get in the way by confessing anymore. If Kacchan’s apology was intended to be compared with a romantic confession, then Ochaco is probably aware that Izuku already “has someone he likes”… and that person isn’t her.

How the Pillars react to your death
Important note: all of these deaths occur during the infinity castle arc, heavy and implied spoilers. Rengoku’s reaction to your death takes place before Mugen Train! Reader’s gender is unspecified.
Warnings: this post contains spoilers for the final arc of the manga. This includes implied spoilers for various characters. Please do not read this if you don’t want to be spoiled and don’t blame me if you go ahead and read it anyways lol
A/N: I wrote this whole post in my head while showering last night and I’m honestly offended it took me 3x as long to actually write it.
Tumblr media
Giyu
“CAWWW! DEAD! KOCHO SHINOBU AND L/N Y/N ARE DEAD! THEY DIED AFTER A CONFRONTATION WITH UPPER MOON TWO!” Giyu’s body comes to a screeching halt, Tanjiro shooting past him before falling to his knees as violent sobs wracked his body. Giyu, on the other hand, is frozen in place, a sob stuck in his throat. Shinobu’s death was a punch to the gut, but you? For the first time since Sabito had died, Giyu felt tears burning at the back of his eyes. Yet, nothing would come out, those tears wouldn’t break the barrier and slip down his cheeks. His tight throat would not let the sob escape. There was no possible way you were gone, you promised him you’d be okay. Though, childish beliefs like that reminded him of his own faults. Once again, he couldn’t protect the people he cared about. Rather than wallowing in sudden grief, he began moving again, past Tanjiro who was struggling to get back up. He needed to keep moving, if he didn’t stop, he was certain he would collapse entirely and never get up again. He couldn’t let your sacrifice go to waste.
Tumblr media
Shinobu
Her feet barely hit the ground, body manoeuvring through the endless castle with one destination in mind. “CAWWW! DEAD! L/N Y/N IS DEAD! THEY DIED AFTER ENCOUNTERING UPPER MOON TWO!” She stumbles, shock hitting her like a bucket of ice water being dumped over her head. Her mind is racing, not willing to believe what the crow had just said to be true. You had steered away from the plan. In a desperate attempt to save Shinobu’s life you tried to defeat Upper Two yourself. Hot, angry tears are spilling down her cheeks, hand clutching her heart as she tries to understand. “Why would you do this? Why wouldn’t you take my word for it and go with Tomioka? Look what you did… you went and got yourself killed,” Yet again, Upper Two had taken something precious to her. One word flashed through her mind, alongside your beautiful face. Revenge. She would get her revenge, not only for Kanae, but for you. “Don’t worry, my love. I’ll be with you soon.”
Tumblr media
Rengoku
It’s quiet, too quiet even. You should be back by now, the sun has fully risen. Kyojuro’s heart is hammering in his chest, doom creeping up his spine. He has an unshakable bad feeling about your late arrival. His worst fears are confirmed when your crow arrives without you. “No…” breathless, as if all the air is being ripped from his lungs. “Don’t say it…” his knees are giving out as your crow lands on the wooden porch. “T-they’re gone…aren’t they?” he chokes it out, the words are as bitter and burning as bile. Your crow only caws, soft and full of sorrow, unable to share the proper message as Kyojuro begins to sob. He’s curling in on himself, crying so loudly but unable to hear it due to the intensity of the ringing in his ears. It’s a panic attack manifesting in the most intense form. He can’t fathom a world without you, nevermind having to live in one. Senjuro is rushing to his brother's aid, seeing your crow gives him more than enough information to know as tears well in his eyes.
Tumblr media
Tengen
He’s kneeling dutifully outside of Nezuko’s room, Shinjuro by his side. His wives are inside, too stubborn to sit out and not help at all. Their excuse being that Nezuko saved his life, they owe her the same kind of protection now. You on the other hand, were too determined, leaving your retirement to fight the battle against the demon lord himself. Nothing Tengen nor his wives said could convince you to stay on the sidelines. His heart is sinking the moment your crow appears in the distance, he’d recognize it anywhere. “N-no… don’t you dare…” Tengen’s voice is cracking as it lands, Shinjuro is turning his head the other way, knowing what is to come. “Don’t you dare say they are dead…” his voice is rising in his panic, he knows the answer. The commotion has Makio, Suma and Hinatsuru running outside. The moment Hina’s eyes land on your crow, a violent sob escapes her chest, falling to her knees as Makio and Suma come to the same conclusion. “T-they’re dead…aren’t they?!” Makio sobs, Tengen can’t raise his head as your crow delivers your final message.
Tumblr media
Mitsuri
She’s frozen in place as a crow comes directly for her, fear is ebbing through her body, a cold sweat forming on her brow. She knows the message before the crow can even utter it. “No! Go back! I don’t want to hear it!” Obanai is frozen beside her, grabbing her arm so she doesn’t collapse. The crow circles around her, cawing woefully as she begins to cry. “I-I don’t want to know! Don’t tell me!” she’s hiccupping as Obanai tries to pull her forward, they need to keep moving. “Mitsuri…” his voice is surprisingly soft, the crow is still circling overhead. “We need to hear the message…” she shakes her head, hands coming up to cover her ears as tears slip down her cheeks. The crow caws again, Obanai signals for it to deliver the message. “CAWWW! L/N Y/N IS DEAD! THEY DIED AFTER AN ALTERCATION WITH UPPER MOON ONE!” The crow continued on about who lived and who died, what was important is that upper moon one was dead. That didn’t matter to her though, no she couldn’t even hear the rest of the message over the ringing in her years. Mitsuri let Obanai tug her along, they needed to keep moving at whatever the cost.
Tumblr media
Muichiro
“CAWWW! L/N Y/N IS DEAD!” He keeps running, uncertain as to why he feels a tightness in his chest at the crow’s message. “THEY DIED DURING A CONFLICT WITH UPPER TWO!” He’s still moving, more so concerned over his unexpected and overwhelming sadness. Why am I sad? I don’t even remember that name… but then your kind smile is flashing before his eyes and the world is crashing down around him. He comes to a screeching halt, eyes wide as he finally pieces together the message. “y/n…” how could he ever forget? Before he realizes it, he’s sniffling. Tears blur his vision for a moment before he blinks them away. He begins to move again, the sadness gripping his chest is slowly fading, fading until he can’t even remember why he got teary eyed in the first place. He needs to remember the task at hand… where was he heading again?
Tumblr media
Obanai
The flapping of wings catches him off guard, head craning upwards as the crow begins to caw. The noise is full of sorrow, which can only mean it bears bad news. “Obanai…” Mitsuri is watching the animal circle above them, her heart pounding erratically at the endless possibilities of the message it may share. “CAWWW! L/N Y/N IS DEAD! THEY DIED IN BATTLE AGAINST UPPER MOON ONE!” Obanai’s feet are slowing, hitting the floor beneath him with a little too much force as the message rings through his head over and over. “N-no… oh… Iguro I…” Mitsuri is crying, staring at the man beside her as the world seems to cave in on him. It’s as if everything is in slow motion for a few beats in time. The words the crow uttered felt foreign, your name paired with ‘dead’ didn’t make any sense in his mind. It was impossible really, there was no way you were dead. You had gone to face Upper One with Gyomei, Sanemi, Muichiro… four hashira against upper One and you didn’t make it? You were so strong… no the message can’t be correct. “Kanroji… let’s keep moving.” he’s turning it off, every swelling emotion is being suppressed as he takes off again. Mitsuri is left with no choice but to wipe her tears and follow.
Tumblr media
Sanemi
Upper Moon One is standing before him, Gyomei at his side. This battle needed to be won, if not, everything would be lost. The demon before him needed to be put down, there was no other option. He’s talking, but he couldn’t be bothered to listen. Rather, Sanemi is gauging every vital point he can strike and how to go about doing it. “CAWW! I BRING A MESSAGE!” he doesn’t glace up, nothing that crow could say would be able to break his focus. “L/N Y/N IS DEAD!” except for that. Sanemi inhales deeply, eyes widening significantly as he debates on if he heard the message correctly. “THEY DIED DURING AN ALTERCATION WITH UPPER MOON TWO! UPPER MOON TWO IS NOW DEAD!” it feels as if all the air in the room had been sucked away with the crow’s flapping wings. Upper One no longer seemed smug about the message after the addition of Upper Two being defeated. Beside him, Gyomei is crying. Sanemi doesn’t realize it, but so is he. He’s oblivious to the hot, angry tears rolling down his cheeks. Still, his patience remains intact, waiting for Gyomei’s signal to attack the high ranked demon. Now, he has absolutely nothing to lose. Kagaya is gone, now you are gone, it is likely the rest of the Hashira wouldn’t make it out of this… he has nothing left to fight for.
Tumblr media
Gyomei “CAWWW! L/N Y/N IS DEAD! THEY DIED AFTER ENCOUNTERING MUZAN!” Tears flow freely as he fights, part of him wishes he hadn’t been able to hear the message in the first place. You had met the unfortunate fate of encountering Muzan himself. It was likely that you were alone, if you weren’t, you were likely the strongest in your group. It pained him, knowing you likely died a brutal death. That pain fueled his attacks, taking every ounce of heartbreak and despair out on the demon before him. You didn’t deserve that, nobody deserved a fate that cruel. He keeps moving, mind reeling yet completely focused. It’s as if he is fighting in a bubble, the world muffled around him yet perfectly clear all at once. Too many emotions are raging through his soul to really pinpoint just one of them. He can only hope you’ll wait for him on the other side, he can only pray you’re watching over him at this very moment. Guiding him, giving him strength. “I’ll meet you again soon, don’t worry. I promise I won’t keep you waiting much longer. Wait for me, please? You will, won’t you?”

Tumblr media

REMINDER: if you want to imagine yourself in oc gojo girlfriend's character descriptions instead, please do!
Tumblr media
"are you bringing the gojo kid with you this time?" touya asked in a snide tone.
“first of all, he has a name, touya. it’s satoru.” you barked back at your brother over the phone. the man in question was laying his head in your lap, your fingers running through his soft white hair.
touya huffed, "is he going to use the front door this time?"
you glowered at satoru, who so innocently smiled at you after hearing touya's comment over the speaker. the first time you went back to osaka to visit your clan after moving into the dorms at jujutsu high was the first time you and satoru had been away from each other since you started 'spending more time together', for the lack of better words. satoru had teleported into your room and you didn't tell anyone in your clan that he was there. touya ended up walking in on you sneaking satoru food from the kitchen.
touya chuckled, "—i should've electrocuted his ass for sneaking into the estate. but since he's your only friend, i looked the other way.”
"whatever, touya. i have other friends besides satoru and their names are shoko, suguru, kento, and yu."
"well, we look forward to your visit. gramps is really excited to meet the gojo kid."
you corrected him again, "it's satoru—"
"right, satoru." touya corrected himself, "anyways, i'll talk to you later. sounds like we have a problem going on in the cursed tools storage room."
"wait wh—"
the line disconnected. you scoffed. how could touya just hang up on you like that? you looked down at the white haired sorcerer who's head was still laying in your lap, dozing off peacefully without a care in the world. he probably fell asleep when you started scratching his undercut. a relaxing, soothing gesture you always did for him so he could fall asleep in your arms... and in this case, in your lap.
later that day
"genkei is your grandpa. kanae is your grandma." satoru recited back confidently as he laid next to you on the picnic blanket in the middle of the jujutsu high sparring field.
you turned on your side, elbow propping you up, your palm supporting your head. you corrected him, "kanae is my mom. kanao is my grandma."
satoru face palmed his forehead in defeat, "i thought i was going to get it right this time."
you caressed his cheek with your palm, stroking gently on his cheekbone with your thumb, "it's okay, let's start over. what's my dad's name?"
"fujitaka." satoru answered confidently again.
you smiled at him and ruffled his hair. he was finally starting to remember the names of your family members.
"okay, let me try this again," satoru said as he took a deep breath, "genkei is your grandpa. fujitaka is your dad. kanao is your grandma. kanae is your mom. and touya is your brother."
"you got it!" you exclaimed, flinging your arms around him and kissing his cheek. you felt satoru's arms swing your body on top of his. you hugged him tightly. he started to smile proudly, seeing as you we're so excited about him getting all your family members' names correct.
you looked down at him, brushing your long hair behind your ear, "are you nervous?"
"who wouldn't be nervous? i'm meeting my girlfriend's family." satoru muttered back at you. the always-confident satoru gojo hated to admit his weaknesses, especially in front of you.
you booped his slender nose, "now you now know i felt when i met your family, mr. gojo."
"i don't know what you're talking about miss (l/n)." satoru feigned ignorance. he laughed at the thought of how much his family adored you, "—my family is obsessed with you."
you teased him, poking and pinching at his sides, "are they more obsessed with me than you are?"
"absolutely not!" satoru said in disbelief as he pushed your fingers away and clutched his chest dramatically. you rolled your eyes at the drama queen king named satoru gojo.
he wrapped his arms around you as you laid your head against his chest. you could feel his breath against the top of your head, fanning against your hair, his heart beating quickly.
satoru slyly shot his shot, "can i give you a lil' kiss so i can show you just how obsessed i am with you?"
"nice try." you laughed as you pushed yourself off from his chest and got up from the picnic blanket to start walking back to the dining hall. you had left satoru smiling like a fool behind you.
he got up to lean back on his elbows. he called out to you, "you're just gonna leave me hanging?"
"yup!" you yelled back at him, putting your hand up to wave goodbye. you didn't look back at him so that you could fight against the temptation of his beautiful blue eyes and that charming grin that always captivated you.
"so feisty." he chuckled, watching you walk away from him.
osaka, japan: at the (l/n) estate
your spirit birds few around in the sky above you and satoru. they were happy to be back home in the beautiful city of osaka. you led satoru through a cobblestone walkway where cherry blossom trees and white concrete walls lined the trail to the entrance of your clan’s estate. the entrance to your clan's estate was met with a red, arched hashi bridge.
"this is wayyy different from my place." satoru said in awe as he looked around at the surroundings, "there's a lot of red here at your clan's estate."
ever since you were young, you were told that red symbolized happiness and auspiciousness and that's why your clan's estate had so much red architecture. after crossing the hashi bridge, cobblestone steps led you and satoru to the front of the estate.
"miss (y/n)!" a familiar voice called out to greet you.
"arisa!" you waved back at the welcoming voice. arisa approached you and satoru, pointing at him and giving you the 'who is this?' look.
you made proper introductions, "arisa. this is my boyfriend—satoru gojo. satoru, this is arisa—she was my nanny growing up. she's the head of the housekeepers here at the estate."
satoru bowed politely, "nice to meet you. i'm satoru gojo of the gojo clan."
"it's nice to meet you too, satoru. let me escort you both to the tea room. i'm afraid it's been pure chaos at the estate today." arisa turned to you and frowned, "i'm sorry we weren't able to welcome you and satoru properly, miss (y/n)."
"does it have to do with the cursed tools storage room?" you asked arisa with concern, thinking about the converastion you had with touya yesterday.
she sighed and looked down at her feet, "i'm afraid so. master touya and grandmaster genkei have been investigating with the wind element users."
the wind element users were (l/n) clan members who were in charge of the estate's security and surveillance. you thought to yourself that it only made sense that touya and grandpa were working with them to find out how someone could get into your estate without being noticed. the security here was impeccable, even you had issues sneaking in and out growing up.
"is there anything we can do to help?" satoru asked, trying to be helpful. he noticed the way your eyebrows furrowed, the way your green eyes darkened to a brunswick green, and the way your lips pursed to the side in a half frown, half pout. that was the specific face you had when you were worried, and you had that face on right now.
arisa smiled at the both of you, "i believe master touya would rather have you and miss (y/n) enjoy your stay with no worries. you can leave the rest to us."
satoru nodded. you grabbed his hand, intertwining your fingers with his. you gave him a soft smile and squeezed his hand to show your appreciation, mouthing a quiet ‘thank you’ to him. he'd get brownie points with arisa for that one.
arisa led you and satoru to the tea room. your family used this room as a meeting room to receive guests, but mainly as a living room where everyone could sit down and enjoy tea and snacks. it was the most central room in the estate and it was one of your favorite rooms. during the days, you could open the ceiling up so that sunshine could flood the room. and during the nights, you could see the thousands of stars that filled the night sky.
"madam kanao should be here soon, i have to get back to prepare for dinner and to make sure the guest room is set up for mr. gojo." arisa reported back to you.
"where is grandma anyway?" you asked curiously.
"she's in a meeting with the elders at the moment. i believe master touya and grandmaster genkei should be there as well."
what in the world was happening that both of your grandparents and touya had to get involved? usually it was one or the other, but not both.
"there's fresh green tea in the pot, and i've left your favorite cookies on the tray." arisa said as she bowed. you watched as your old nanny scurried away, leaving you and satoru behind.
satoru tried to lighten the mood, nudging his elbow into your arm, "aren't you going to tell her that i'm sleeping in your room?"
"satoru—" you giggled, "i think this is serious business."
"sleeping accommodations is serious business too." he grinned back at you.
you and satoru sat down on the soft black couch. red throw pillows decorated the u-shaped sectional. satoru leaned forward and grabbed the porcelain teapot that was sitting on the stone coffee table. he poured you a cup of tea while he bit into a cookie. you sipped at your tea, feeling the warmth glide down your throat and into your tummy.
you watched satoru shove more cookies into his mouth, the sun's rays hitting the top of his head. his hair reflected so beautifully in the sun, it was almost a silver in this lighting. he always looked so radiant to you. you kissed the back of your teeth at how annoying it was that satoru looked good in any lighting and at any time of day. you gave yourself a self-satisfied smirk at the sight of the handsome sorcerer sitting next to you... and he was all yours.
moments later, you heard the sliding door to the tea room open. a woman with short grey hair, walked into the room. her eyes a blazing golden yellow. satoru watched as you stood up to bow to her. he followed your lead and got up from his seat to bow as well.
"hi grandma." you greeted the woman warmly. she reached for your arms, patting your shoulders and bringing you into her arms for a hug. she then looked over at satoru.
"is this who i think it is?" she asked. "is this the satoru gojo?"
"it is." you said with a proud smile. "grandma, meet my boyfriend."
"it's a pleasure to meet you, ma'am." satoru greeted your grandmother, bowing in her presence.
"ai! no bowing!" she smacked his shoulder playfully. satoru jumped back in surprise. she reminded him of his own grandmother in that instant. "please call me grandma kanao. the gojo clan and our clan are very good friends. your grandmother has told me a lot about you, satoru.”
"only good things i hope, grandma kanao." satoru chuckled as he emphasized addressing your grandmother. he scratched the back of his head nervously.
"oh, she told me over the phone yesterday all about how you stole my granddaughter's heart." grandma kanao teased the white-haired sorcerer. "are you two comfortable? is the tea still warm? did arisa give you enough cookies?"
you sighed at your grandma's overbearingness and sat back down on the couch. "everything is fine, grandma. what’s going on? where’s grandpa and touya?"
you watched as your grandmother's eyebrows furrowed. she looked concerned. "(y/n). the inverted spear of heaven has been stolen."
the inverted spear of what? you didn't think that you knew of that cursed object... but why did it sound so familiar?
"what does that cursed object do, grandma?"
"the inverted spear of heaven has the power to completely nullify a cursed technique. it can stop any technique that it comes in contact with."
your jaw dropped in surprise. you didn’t know that your clan had a cursed tool so powerful. that meant that this cursed tool could cut through your protective water barrier technique... that also meant that it could completely stop satoru's limitless technique and bypass infinity.
"why do we have a cursed tool like that?" you asked, "shouldn't that be locked away someplace safe?"
"that's the thing, my child. it was locked away someplace safe. the gojo clan entrusted that tool to us 400 years ago."
you had so many questions. why would the gojo clan give such a powerful cursed tool to your clan? especially one that could kill someone from their clan.
"satoru's sobo wanted me to tell you the legend of the six eyes and water technique user." grandma kanao said softly, “the legend also has to do with the inverted spear of heaven.”
satoru was ready to hear the story. he leaned back in his seat and crossed his legs, "finally! everyone keeps talking about this legend!"
"it's not known as public knowledge to the jujutsu society," grandma kanao chuckled, "—but between the gojo clan and the (l/n) clan, it's very important."
you put your hand on top of satoru's. he looked over at you and shot you a grin. "okay, grandma kanao! let’s hear it."
grandma kanao took a deep breath and began the story.
"400 years ago, the gojo clan's six eyes user at the time, fell in love with our clan's last water user. believe it or not, the six eyes user was a woman and the water user was a man, the opposite of you and satoru." she giggled at the realization. “isn’t it such a coincidence?”
"wait. you said they were in love?" you asked, eyes wide with surprise. you had never heard this story before, even when you found out that you were the water user. satoru cocked his head to the side, now he was very intrigued by this story.
"yes. they were. they were set to be married." grandma kanao continued, "they were the reason that the gojo clan and our clan have such a strong alliance. the reason that we have the inverted spear of heaven is because the six eyes gave our water user the spear for safekeeping. she knew that this spear could nullify the gojo clan's limitless and infinity, so consider it an act of trust between the two lovers."
"so my clan gave your clan the spear knowing that your clan would keep it safe from any enemies of the gojo clan..." satoru said out loud, putting 2+2 together.
you looked at him, "that must mean that they meant a lot to each other... to trust each other with a cursed tool like that."
the act of giving your lover the cursed tool that could ultimately lead to your death? you wondered if satoru would ask you to do the same for him if he was in the previous six eyes' shoes.
"since the spear is now missing... we've notified the gojo clan." grandma kanao sighed, "it's dangerous for you and satoru if we do not know the whereabouts of the cursed tool."
"that's probably why my clan elders wanted me to have my infinity on 24/7 now. they wanted me to work on reversed cursed techniques too..." satoru realized. if a cursed tool like that was stolen, that meant that he would always need to be on guard. he would really have to get his shit together now.
"until we find the spear, the both of you will just have to stay alert." grandma kanao warned the both of you.
"do we know who stole it?" you asked.
grandma kanao frowned and shook her head, "all we know is that it's a man with dark hair, possibly from the zen’nin clan."
your grandma knew better than to point fingers without proof. she ended the conversation about who they thought the culprit was. the three of you sat there in silence sipping tea and eating cookies.
"grandma, what else do you know about this couple?" you asked curiously, trying to cut through the awkwardness.
you wanted to know more about this love story. what were the chances that you, the water user of the (l/n) clan, would fall in love with satoru, the six eyes user of the gojo clan, in this lifetime?
grandma kanao pondered, trying to recall any stories of the legendary couple, "i believe your grandfather said that our last water user died trying to protect the six eyes."
you felt gutted hearing that. you wished that they got a happily ever after... but that meant that you wouldn't have met satoru if they did. was death going to be the same fate for you and satoru too? you felt his hands squeeze yours, trying to comfort you and shoo away any negative thoughts in your mind.
"i think i know what that fight was." satoru added to the conversation, "my grandparents told me that the six eyes user and a ten shadows technique user fought to their deaths for the aristocracy. the kamo clan and the zen'nin clan must have worked together on it if a (l/n) clan member died."
satoru remembered the story you told him the night he took you to shibuya for your birthday. the kamo clan was your clan's enemy due to the fact that your last water user could control blood. (read 'love at first fight' here)
"that's exactly right, satoru." grandma kanao said. she sighed, "it's almost too good to be true, seeing you and my granddaughter together. your sensei, masamichi yaga, mentioned that you two could be reincarnations of them. if you believe in reincarnation that is.”
reincarnation. the rebirth of a soul inside a new body. could all of this be true? so many thoughts were racing inside your head about it. you felt sick to your stomach.
"well, that should be enough story telling for now." grandma kanao said as she stood up from her spot on the couch. "i'm sure touya and your grandfather want to see you and satoru."
you and satoru watched as your grandmother turned to walk out of the tea room. you both stood up and looked at each other. would this change the way you and satoru viewed each other and your relationship? satoru didn’t look like he was affected by the information, but you, you looked like you were starting to question your own existence.
as you and satoru stepped into the hallway, two sets of eyes peer over at you. one golden-yellow, and one ruby-red.
"grandpa!" you called out, smiling. you ran into your grandpa's arms, hugging him. you dragged him back to meet satoru, "grandpa, this is my boyfriend, satoru gojo."
you turned to satoru, "satoru, this is my grandpa and legendary fire user, genkei (l/n)."
"it's an honor to meet you!" satoru said out loud, quickly bowing to your grandfather. he turned to touya, "it's nice to see you again as well, touya-san."
you had never heard satoru add honorifics to anyone's name in the couple of months you’ve known the man. he was really trying to put in an effort to impress your family. you coughed, trying to hide your laugh.
"the gojo clan's treasure." grandpa genkei laughed, "let me take a look at you, son!" he put his hands on satoru's shoulders, patting them firmly.
“call me grandpa or grandpa genkei. i’m sure my wife has already told you to call her grandma as well.” your grandfather added. “—how are you ojii and sobo? and your parents?”
“uhhh—”
"awww, gramps, leave the kid alone." touya interrupted your grandfather bombarding satoru with questions, "how about you and (y/n) catch up while i have a chat with the gojo kid."
you shot a stone cold glare at your bother, "his name is satoru."
"right, right. satoru." touya rolled his eyes at you, "hey, satoru! how about we head to the sparring dojo?"
you could see signs of nervousness in satoru's body language. whenever he was nervous, his blue eyes leered and his shoulders tensed. you walked up to him and whispered in his ear, "you’ll be fine, babe."
satoru gulped as you pat his chest, you looked over at your brother, "don't scare my boyfriend off, please."
"wouldn't dream of it." touya shot back with a grin, "i wanna see what the kid can do."
you and your grandparents watched as touya led satoru to the sparring dojo. satoru looked back at you with worried eyes. you blew him a kiss and waved goodbye as they turned down the hallway.
the sparring dojo
behind him, touya shut the door to the dojo. he wiped the dust off his hands and stretched his arms and legs. satoru gulped, he was so nervous right now. the last time he was this nervous was when he took you to shibuya for the first time (he liked to consider that night your first date).
when touya turned to face him, satoru straightened his posture and turned on his infinity, ready to get zapped by touya’s cursed technique at any second.
touya (l/n). the king of close combat. that was his nickname when he was a student at jujutsu high. because touya wielded an electric cursed technique, his close combat was lethal. he could paralyze people and curses when fighting with his cursed technique.
satoru thought that he himself was pretty damn skilled at close combat, but was he on par to be able to spar with your brother?
satoru started to apologize for his last visit, “first off—i’d like to say sor—”
“no need to apologize about sneaking into the estate from your last visit. (y/n) brought you back here for a reason. it's obvious my little sister likes you.” touya brushed satoru off, he was going to ask the million dollar question instead, “satoru gojo! answer this. what do you even like about my sister?”
satoru stood in the middle of the dojo, dumbfounded that touya wasn’t going to fight him to test his strength or his jujutsu. instead, he was going to attack him with questions about his relationship with you. touya had already found out satoru gojo's weakness. it was anything pertaining to you.
"what could the six eyes from the gojo clan like about my stubborn, feisty little sister?" touya curiously asked.
“well,” satoru gulped nervously, “i like her personality.”
satoru shot himself in the foot for the most basic answer he just gave your brother. that was definitely not going to win him over.
“boringggg.” touya sang, “come on, kid. you’re not convincing me that you actually like her. i know for a fact her personality is not that great. i’m her brother, i can say that.”
satoru felt like his chest was going to explode. he couldn’t breathe normally or focus because he was so nervous. he stammered when he tried to answer again, “i—i like how caring she is towards others. i even like how feisty she gets when she’s mad. i like her eyes, how they change to different shades of green depending on her mood. i like her laugh because it’s… cute.”
touya nodded his head and folded his arms. he liked what he heard so far, “—is that all?”
“no, not at all!” satoru shouted as he stepped foward to face your older brother with the little confidence he had left, “—i like that she doesn’t care about how i’m supposed to be the strongest or that i'm the first in 400 years to have the six eyes. she's the only person that has ever looked past all my flaws… and there are a lot of them. she's special to me. and i want to be with her for as long as she'll let me."
"satoru," touya started to say, "you know... me and my sister lost our parents at a young age. i grew up taking care of her. there's nothing in this world that i wouldn't do for my sister. and as her older brother, i'm supposed to protect her—"
satoru interrupted touya, "—i told her i was going to protect her and i swore to my clan elders that i would too. you don't have to worry about that."
satoru thought about his promise he made, how he would protect you from the kamo clan or whatever danger may come your way. he hoped that you knew he would do anything in his power to keep you safe from any harm. he would risk his life for you... and that's what touya wanted to know.
“do you really like her that much?” touya asked satoru. now this was definitely a trick question. touya was waiting for the right answer. there was one more thing he wanted to hear.
satoru scoffed and looked touya straight in his golden-yellow snake-like eyes, “i don’t just like her. i love her.”
“love is a strong word for an 18 year old.” touya grinned, “—if you love her as much as you say you do, you better promise me and my grandparents that you’ll take care of her too.”
“i’d even lay down a binding vow.” satoru said with no fear. he knew that binding vows made with others have a higher penalty than self-made binding vows.
“—and get shot down by the binding vow’s penalty as soon as you make her cry?” touya laughed out loud. “i like you, satoru gojo. i hope you stick around. i’d like to consider you as my brother someday.”
satoru blinked twice, confused on what just happened here, “wait—does this mean—”
“you have my approval.” touya said, “i actually never disapproved of you, kid. i’m just playing ‘big brother’ here. i knew from the moment i saw you and my sister interact for the first time at the jujutsu high that you were gonna be someone special in her life… whether it be her lover or her friend.”
“thank you…” satoru sighed in relief. “i swear i love (y/n). i’d do anything for her.”
“i believe you, kid.” touya said as he attempted to pat satoru’s back, unable to actually pat his back. "—you have your infinity on."
"well… yeah. there's no way in hell i was going to get electrocuted by you." satoru laughed.
“let me rough you up a bit, or my sister is going to say something.” touya laughed. his loud laugh always boomed throughout the estate. your brother gave off hardcore golden retriever energy.
satoru continued to laugh alongside him, bro-hugging touya, “anything but the face. she’ll be devastated if you get the face.”
later that night
satoru noticed at dinner that you were unusually quiet around your family. he watched as you pushed around the food on your plate with your chopsticks, not making eye contact with your family members, and not engaging in any conversation. you barely even looked at him.
he whispered in your ear. "hey. are you okay?"
"i'm fine." you lied, "i'm just tired."
satoru gojo swore he had a phd in (y/n)ology. he could read you like a book. he knew what ticked you off and what made you squeal with delight. but tonight, he wasn't so sure what was bothering you.
you listened as touya and your grandparents got to know satoru on a deeper level. they asked him about his family and what it was like growing up in the gojo clan, what he liked and didn't like. it was like satoru was already a part of the family.
you were happy that satoru finally got the chance to meet your grandparents and touya, but deep down, something felt off. after dinner, you asked touya to entertain satoru so that you could take a shower. and after your shower, you snuck off to your favorite place in the estate, the red pagoda in the lily pad pond.
as a child, you would come to this very pagoda to escape the hellish and tiring training you went through as the clan's water user. you always felt at peace here, that you could gather your thoughts without any interruption. the pagoda had an amazing view of the estate's pond that was filled with lily pads. it wasn't as big as the gojo clan's koi pond, but it was grand enough for you and your clan. (read 'meet the gojos' here)
you started to question if the feelings that you felt for satoru were actually real or if it was because of all this reincarnation bullshit. was it just a coincidence that you and satoru ended up finding each other in this lifetime? were you actually meant to be with him?
you swore that what you felt for him was genuine. you didn’t think you could care about someone so much that it hurt you so deeply inside. that the mere thought of losing them would be so crippling.
the voice that always made your ears perk and your heart race called out to you. "—so this is where you go to run away from your problems."
satoru sat down next to you, locking his arms around his knees. he leaned his head over to watch you. you stared out into the pond, soft yellow lights reflected off the surface of the water from the estate's open windows. crickets chirped in the background, a crisp breeze filled the air around you.
"how did you find me?"
"your brother told me that you like to come here whenever you have a lot on your mind. how about a penny for your thoughts?"
you changed the subject, “are you going to tell me what you and touya talked about in the sparring dojo?”
satoru looked out at the distance in front of him and smirked, “nope. it’s a secret between just us men.”
“does it have to do with me?”
“—i can’t say a word.”
“does it have to do with how much you like me?”
“—not saying anything, sweetheart.”
it was time for a cheap shot, “well… i guess that means no more kisses for satoru ‘i-keep-secrets-from-my-girlfriend’ gojo.”
satoru sat there and stared at you in disbelief, “—that is so unfair.” 'what kind of girlfriend uses no kisses as a threat?' he thought to himself.
you got up from your seat. your hair flowing behind you as a conniving grin spread across your face. he was such a sucker for you.
3... 2... 1...
“wait!” satoru called out to you, grabbing your hand. “i guess i can tell you this much… it wasn’t about how much i like you.”
you turned around to look back at satoru, his face was as red as a tomato.
“—it was about how much i love you.” satoru admitted, “i love you, (y/n).”
this was the first time satoru had ever told you that he loved you.
“i love you too, satoru...”
you felt satoru's arms pull you into his strong embrace. tears filling your eyes. you bit at your bottom lip, swallowing the discomfort in your throat. he let go of you and positioned you in front of him, staring down at you with worried blue eyes. he cupped your cheeks with his hands.
"why are you cry—"
"satoru," you interrupted him, "do you think that we're only together because we're reincarnations of our ancestors from 400 years ago? do you think they did some weird-binding-vow-lifelong-love-spell before they died?"
"is it so wrong if they did?" satoru asked as he brushed your tears away with his thumb, "—it's kinda romantic if you ask me."
"i just want to be 100% sure that my feelings for you are really mine."
"just know that no one gets to tell me what to do or who to love." satoru said, "—so no weird-binding-vow-lifelong-love-spell is going to change my mind on how i feel about you."
you sniffled, thinking of all the negative outcomes and possibilities, "what if it's actually a hidden curse or something...?"
he stared at you for a moment before he started to speak, "grams tells me that there's no curse more twisted than love... and if it's a curse, then i'm pretty sure i'm fated to love you."
and quite frankly, satoru didn’t give a damn if loving you in this lifetime was a curse. he’d live as the cursed one if that was the case.
satoru leaned down to capture your lips with a kiss. you wrapped your arms around his neck, feeling his soft, strawberry flavored lips on yours.
he asked confidently and just a bit smugly as if he already knew the answer to the question he was about to ask, "so what do you want to do now that you know all of this information? you gonna leave me, princess? we gonna break up?"
“satoru—” you muffled his name as he kept kissing you, “there’s one thing i know for sure, and it’s that i want to be with you. even if it’s some weird binding vow.”
satoru stopped kissing you to look back down at you. he chuckled while repeating your words, “even if it's some weird binding vow, huh?”
you looked up at him, running your fingers up his undercut. he melted at the action, sighing in your grasp.
“how much do you think those two loved each other?” you asked satoru. “you think they loved each other more than we do?”
“hmmm, maybe. but there’s no way the previous six eyes had more game than me.” satoru joked.
“you have got to get better jokes, babe.” you giggled as satoru squeezed your hips, pulling you closer to him. he returned to peppering kisses on your cheek, slowly moving to the corner of your lips.
“you think—” he muffled your words by kissing you, on purpose this time, “you think the previous six eyes was the one who made the move?”
“babe.” satoru pleaded, “please stop talking and just kiss me back.”
the next morning
after the conversation you had with satoru last night at the pagoda, you had never felt more sure that your feelings for this white haired, blue eyed, special-grade idiot was real. as you laid next to satoru, you fit perfectly in his arms, just like two puzzle pieces.
"god, i love this custom futon." satoru groaned as he stretched his arms and legs, attempting to wake his body up on this fine morning.
"i thought you slept in my dorm room because you wanted to cuddle with me, not sleep on my custom futon." you teased, pulling the blanket to your side of the bed.
satoru chuckled, rubbing the sleepiness away from his eyes. he fired back at you, "cuddling you is just a plus. the king size futon is totally why i'm there."
one thing that you loved about satoru was that the best parts of him complimented the best parts of you. you made each other better in every way. you were excited for the future together now that you've cleared the air about your true and honest feelings for satoru. your next focus was to help your clan and the gojo clan find the inverted spear of heaven.
you turned back to face him, nuzzling your face in his bare chest. he smelled just like his eucalyptus body wash.
"you know what's nice? no one barging into your room randomly. i swear my grams was soooo not discrete when you visited." satoru said as he rolled his eyes.
"touya already checked on us four times. you were sleeping."
"four?!" satoru choked out, "you weren't laying on top of me or anything were you?"
the last thing he wanted touya to think was that he was getting frisky with his little sister in her childhood bedroom under his roof.
"satoru!" you laughed, "and so what if we were cuddling?"
"i'm trying to make it out of your clan's estate without getting zapped by your brother... don't you know he's called the king of close combat? he can paralyze people!"
you drew circles on his chest with your fingertips, "i guess you better work on that infinity being on 24/7 then."
"sure, babe… anyways what's the agenda today?" satoru asked, putting his arms behind his head. he watched you roll out of the bed to change into your clothes for the day. you took his bag of toiletries out of his suitcase to throw at him.
you smiled softly at him, "get ready to have breakfast cause after that, you’re going to meet my parents."
at the (l/n) clan's family grave
ever since you were little, you and touya made it a routine to visit your parents' graves regularly. touya would tell you stories about your parents so you would never forget them. they had passed away when you were so young, so he wanted to make sure that their memories lived on with you.
since satoru would never be able to meet them physically, you thought this would be the best way to ‘introduce’ him to your parents.
in the japanese tradition, a visit to one’s grave starts by cleaning the grave of your loved one, presenting your offerings, and then praying and lighting incense. you and satoru washed your hands to ‘purify’ them and filled a water pail to head to the area where your parents were laid to rest.
"mom, dad." you started to say as you approached the two headstones, "this is my boyfriend, satoru."
satoru grinned at you and then looked towards your parents' headstones, "mr. (l/n), mrs. (l/n). i'm satoru gojo... and i wanted to tell you both that i love your daughter."
your turned to stare at satoru. you didn't know he was going to say that, nor did you ask him to say that. you were surprised to say the least.
he continued on, "i made a promise to your daughter and myself, and to my clan... and now i'm promising your clan that i will protect her. so this is my promise to you both as well."
you felt tears forming in your eyes. what kind of boyfriend would come to your parents' grave with you to have a conversation with your parents like this? how were you so lucky to have a thoughtful boyfriend like satoru?
you quickly brushed your tears away. "satoru. you didn't have to do that. you're so cheesy."
"that's so rude to say in front of your parents, (y/n)." satoru gasped, teasing you. "why not tell your parents the promise i made to everyone...?"
"i mean… sure... but you didn't have to say you loved me as an introduction for yourself." you giggled. “you can just say, ‘hi, i’m satoru gojo from the gojo clan.’”
satoru smiled at you, "i want everyone to know that i love you though."
he took the pail from your hand, gently pouring water over the two headstones. after cleaning the headstones, you and satoru placed a plate of oranges and apples in front of them. you lit a stick of incense for the both of you, silently bowing and praying. once finished, you stuck the incense stick into the holder.
it was as if time stood still while you and satoru sat around your parents grave to just talk. none of the conversations were about anything important, it was just simple talk about sweet nothings. you were just grateful he wasn’t weirded out by spending time here the way you and touya did when you were younger.
satoru even talked to your parents as if they were still alive and well. he asked your mother, ‘did you know your daughter has the world’s worst attitude in the mornings? god forbid she doesn’t get a full 8 hours of sleep.’ after that, he even said to your father, ‘sir, i wish you were still here so i could show you my techniques. i heard yours were pretty cool too.’
while you watched satoru talk to your parents’ headstones, you wished so badly that your parents could’ve met him so they can see why you loved him so much. your mother would’ve have loved him, probably more than she loved you. and your father? he would’ve loved to have such a strong sorcerer be his daughter’s boyfriend… he’d probably consider satoru as a second son.
satoru could see and feel how your heart ached at any mention of your parents, and he wanted you to know that your family was important to him too. he was going to try his best to win the approval of your entire family. he didn’t have to try hard though, your family wasn’t that hard to please. they just wanted you to be happy.
"ready to go?" you asked satoru after noticing the sun setting. "i'm sure touya is looking for us. it’s almost dinner time."
"sure." satoru smiled back at you, grabbing your hand.
“bye mom and dad.” you waved.
“bye mom and dad!” satoru said with a grin.
you looked up at him, “mom and dad, huh? you guys are already that close?”
“yeah, actually. your mom says she sees me like a son now. and your dad said that he approves of me as a son in law.” satoru said as-a-matter-of-factly, knowing damn well he made that up.
you giggled at his ridiculous statement and clung to his arm. you walked back to the estate more in love with satoru than you were when you first arrived here.
********************************************
once you and satoru were out of sight, two feet stepped out from behind the shadows of your parents' headstones and smiled.
"doesn't she look happy with the gojo kid, mom and dad? he’ll take care of her, don’t you two worry." touya whispered to your parents' as he watched you and satoru walk back to the estate together. he zapped a stick of incense with his cursed technique and quietly bowed and prayed before heading back to the estate as well.
after dinner
"remember how you showed me your family portraits when i went with you to meet your grandparents?" you asked satoru. "want to see ours?"
"yeah. let's see who you resemble the most." satoru wondered as you led him down the hallway where the family portraits were hung.
"is that you?" satoru asked incredulously. he pointed at a little girl with long black hair in pigtails, precious sparkling green eyes smiling back at him. "you looked like a little brat, babe."
"you found me." you laughed and reluctantly admitted, "—and i was a brat growing up."
you hoped that if you ever had kids in the future, they would not inherit the attitude you had as a child. your grandma always said that the way you acted as a child would come back to spite you in the form of your own offspring.
satoru continued to look around in the picture. he could spot your grandparents and touya towards the center. he assumed the woman who was holding you was your mom, kanae.
"my mom had long dark blue hair and the most beautiful green eyes." you started to say, "everyone else usually gets the yellow eyes or red eyes in the family since grandma and grandpa have them, but i was lucky to get her green eyes."
the man standing next to your mother was obviously your father, fujitaka. your father had black hair, and the same leering yellow eyes as touya. touya resembled your father so much growing up that he always heard that he was his father's mini-me.
"well..." satoru sighed as you took his hand to lead him back to the tea room, "i guess i have to go back to your parents and thank them for creating the most perfect human being for me."
you laughed and gently hit his chest with the back of your palm, "you're too much, babe."
satoru continued to spout his nonsense sarcastically. "it was like you were put on this earth for me. it's fate. god's will. the divine decree. destiny some may say."
you rolled your eyes at him. sometimes, satoru could be so cheesy and would say the most ridiculous things. you wondered where your smart-alecky boyfriend was. however, you didn't hate when satoru tried to be romantic, so you figured you'd just listen to his ridiculous comments for now. you held his hand, bringing it towards your lips to plant soft kisses on his palm.
“even if it was fate or destiny.... whatever you want to call it. i’d choose you again in every lifetime, satoru. you’re like... my soulmate.”
“soulmate, huh? look who's being 'too much' now.” satoru smiled cheekily, “—you’re not guaranteed to meet your soulmate in every lifetime though.”
“consider me a lucky girl then.”
“nah, i think i’m the lucky one...” satoru mumbled as he leaned in for a kiss.
EXTRA:
as soon as you got back to the jujutsu high dorms, you asked satoru the same question he asked you when you met his family.
"so..." you started to inquire, "what did you think about my family?"
"your grandma reminds me of my grams. and your grandpa's cursed technique was pretty cool." satoru added. "i met your instructors and trainers. no wonder you hated learning jujutsu. they were intense."
satoru only met your grandparents, touya, and a handful of family members and housekeepers during this visit. a majority of your family members were on vacation or not at the estate during the time of your visit. you were relieved it was a lax visit because you knew your cousins would have been all over satoru. the next holiday back to the estate would be unavoidable though.
satoru said with a sigh, "your brother still scares the shit outta me."
"but he approves of you!" you clung to his uniform sleeve. "are you going to tell me what you and touya talked about in the sparring dojo?"
"i already told you. it was that i loved you." satoru mumbled, wanting to change the subject immediately. he looked like the world’s biggest simp for you in the sparring dojo that day and there was no way he could tell you all the things he said without turning as red as a stop sign.
you huffed and pouted, "babe, you were in there for a good 45 minutes though. how about a kiss for some intel?”
“i don’t kiss and tell.” satoru said with a grin.
you realized that satoru really wasn't going to tell you what touya and him talked about, so you let it slide for now.
and over a decade later, you still won't know what satoru and touya talked about in the sparring dojo.

My Nemi

He unravels one of your hands from his hair, lacing his fingers with yours giving them a squeeze.
He clung to you, his lips faltering in the kiss as he found himself unable to do anything besides hold on. His eyes, dark and heavy with unadulterated need.
He presses in deep with every stroke. You clench around him and do your best to meet him mid thrust. It’s slow and sweet, just like this whole night had been.
Your fingers curling in his hair, ankles locking above the swell of his ass. You don’t let him pull away and he doesn’t want to go, smearing tears against your neck as he drives himself deep, further, into your very being both physically and emotionally.
"My Nemi." You cupped Sanemi’s cheek pulling him from your neck to wipe away the tears that were steadily streaming down his face.
“I love you.”
Love.
He wasn’t sure he knew what that felt like anymore. Everytime he loved someone they went away. Masachika……Kanae.
He wanted to answer you back, but he couldn’t. Not while he was like this, he knew he’d choke if he tried.
More tears flowed from his eyes as he reburied his face in your neck and picked up the pace.
At one particularly sharp thrust you moan lewdly right into Sanemi’s ear, that sent him into a feral frenzy.
He grabs your legs and pushes them as far up as they could go. Your knees practically by your head at this angle.
The new angle allows him to go even deeper than he was before. His mouth exploring your neck, mouth and chest as he loses himself in your cunt.
The room was filled with the sounds of your breathless moans and the echoes of wet rhythmic slapping sounds of your skin against his.
A shiver creeps up your spine as Sanemi huffs over you. A long low moan leaves him as his hips begin to stutter.
He was getting close, you could tell. Your own orgasm building in the pit of your stomach too.
Both so close you could almost reach out and touch it.
“S-so fucking warm.” Sanemi rasps out hips losing their rhythm as he looks down to watch his dick disappear in and out of you, a creamy translucent ring forming around the base.
Your back arches as your second orgasm of the night overpowered you, sensitivity starting to set in. Grabbing your hand again he engulfs yours with one of his calloused pads gently squeezing and stroking at your fingers as he draws closer to his climax.
His hips bucked wildly as he clutched at your spamming hips, your cunt squelches as he finally floods your insides with thick ropes of cum.
The fabric of your comforter sticks to your sweat soaked skin as you both come down from your high. The cool wind from the spring night was starting to seep into the room causing you both to shiver.
Kissing along your jaw, Sanemi gives your hand one last gentle squeeze, his face buried in your neck again as he sniffles and murmurs out “…love you too.”
When he pulls away your grinning from ear to ear, cheeks flustered from your copulation.
“Shut up and get some sleep.” He looks away, flustered, going to pull out.
“I didn’t even say anything!” You yawn
“You don’t have to.” He kisses your forehead before tucking you both into your futon sleep already clouding both of your vision.
The former tsugoku simply smiled some more before snuggling into his chest content to be home in his arms for the first time in months.

“Are you really sure you're okay with that? Would the school be okay with that??” You ask your husband, taking another glance down at your phone to catch the time. You both needed to leave the house soon to get to work. However, you couldn’t leave your son home alone. He was too young to be left in the empty house unmonitored. But calling off of work wasn’t an option either. Your husband had offered to take his son to work with him.
“I mean, its a school. Its always filled with kids. I'm sure they won’t mind, especially if I explain what happened. The babysitter called last minute saying she got sick and couldn’t come today, its no one’s fault.”
You place your hand on top of your child’s head, still feeling worried about the time crunch and who would watch over your son. “Hmmm I guess. You sure he’ll have a spot to sit down and stayed entertained?”
“I’m sure.” Your husband responds, a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth to reassure you that everything would turn out just fine. You smile back at him, looking at the time once more and taking note that you both didn’t really have much of an option anyways. You bend down to reach your child’s gaze, cupping his chubby cheeks into your palms.
“Okay, Sweetie. You’re going to be going to work with your Papa today. Make sure to behave and do what Papa says, alright?”
A wide grin appears on your child’s face, excited at the fact he’d get to spend all day with his dad. You start to place kisses all across his face, squeezing his cheeks and telling him how much you’ll miss him and to have an amazing day. Standing back up to place a kiss on Giyuu’s lips.
“Okay, I got to start heading out, take care. I’ll see you both later.” Giyuu gives you a goodbye as you rush out the door. Now looking down to his boy who already had his arms outstretched for his father. Giyuu bends down to grab ahold of him and lift him into his arms.
“We’re going to have a lot of fun today! Lets pack you a lunch super quick and then head out, okay?”
-
Giyuu’s larger hand held onto his son’s much tinier hand as they both walked onto the campus. Giyuu having to take much shorter strides for his son’s shorter legs to keep up.
“Here’s the plan, I’m gonna take you to the teacher’s office and you can sit at my desk. I have plenty of paper and markers there for you to draw with. I’ll also try and snatch some crayons from Uzui’s class if you’d like. But I’m going to have to be in the gym for my classes, okay? I wont be next to you all day, but I’ll still be here. You okay with that?”
“Yes, I’m okay with it!” Your boy cheered out, excited to be at his father’s desk. Already imaging to pretend to be his father at the desk and feel like a real teacher.
Giyuu walked into the teacher’s office, deep down hoping no one would be there to question why he had brought his child to work. But alas, almost every teacher was still at their desks, organizing through papers and planners to prepare for the day. He slightly grimaced to himself to see the full room.
“Oh, Tomioka-san! You’re here, you’re later than usual.” Kanae beams out. Her eyes slowly scan down to see a much smaller looking Giyuu attached to his leg. Her eyes instantly light up as she gets up from her seat. “Oh my goodness!! Tomioka-san! Is this your little boy?! He’s looks just like you, he’s so adorable!” Giyuu swallows, knowing that Kanae’s voice had reached the rest of the teachers and all heads turned to him instantly. Kanae resting her hands on her knees as she bent down to greet his son.
“Nice to meet you, Little Tomioka! I’m Kanae!” She smiles brightly. Your son starts to grow shy and clings on more to his father as he mumbles out a hello.
“Tomioka! You brought your son?!” Rengoku’s voice booms loudly standing up from his desk to catch a glimpse. Giyuu simply nods as Kanae straightens out her posture, “May I ask why?” She asks Giyuu.
“My wife and I couldn’t find a babysitter. The one we hired called in last minute apologizing that she couldn’t make it because she got sick. So I decided to take him with me.”
“Where the hell are you gonna keep him?” Sanemi asks aggressively, his intimidating eyes glaring at Giyuu. Arms crossed over his chest as he stayed seated in his chair, spun around to be facing the two.
“At my desk, of course.” He answers coolly. He looks over at Uzui was was curiously peering over the desks to get a look at Giyuu’s son. “Uzui, would it be alright if my son borrowed some crayons from the art room?” The tall man nods in agreement, a small smile on his face. He had to admit, a little version of Tomioka was indeed adorable. Even if he wasn’t the best of friends with his father, he wouldn’t deny a young child some crayons to help keep them occupied.
Rengoku walks over, standing beside Kanae to greet your child. A smile a lot bigger than his usual one making his eyes crinkle with joy. He voice booming out loudly as he greeted the small boy. Your son jumps, scared off by his voice and hides more behind Giyuu’s legs. Rengoku apologizes and kneels down, lowering his voice and hold out his hand for your son.
“Its Uncle Rengoku,” Giyuu calls out to his son. “You’ve both met before, though I’m sure you were too little to remember. No need to be so shy, say hi.” He pats the top of his child’s head to help reassure him. Now that your son was looking at him, he remembers a vague memory of hair that looked like fire. Still too shy, he waves hello from behind his father. Rengoku lets out a laugh, finding the boy adorable.
“He’s just as reserved as you!” Rengoku speaks as he stands back up. Giyuu lets out a small puff of air through his noise, a small smile as he looks down at his son.
“I have my free period first thing, I could keep your son companied while you’re teaching your class, Tomioka-San.” Kanae speaks out.
“That would be great, thank you.” Giyuu answers. He grabs a hold of his son’s hand and guides him over to his desk, lifting him to set him in his chair. “I have to get going real soon, okay? Kanae-san will keep you company for now. I’ll miss you, be good, okay?” Giyuu places a kiss on his sons forehead before heading out of the office to the gym.
-
The whistle screeches loudly as Giyuu blew air into it.
“No resting! Keep running! Looking at you, Agatsuma!”
The yellow haired boy groans, huffing out loudly as he tried to pick his pace back up to a jog again. It was already second period, meaning its already be a little over an hour since Giyuu had seen his son. He knew he would be alright, but his mind still wandered, hoping he was gleefully coloring on the spare papers on his desk. Kanae was a very nice women and very good with children, he knew she’d be able to soothe him if he did start to get anxious. Though it was second period, meaning she probably had headed to her class already. He hoped his son wasn’t too lonely now. There should at least be another teacher in the room, right? Hopefully no one too intimidating… Giyuu shudders at the thought of his poor son having to be alone in a room with Shinazugawa. Hopefully Rengoku had his second period as his free period.
“Tomioka!!” A voice shouts out behind him. Giyuu turns to see Sanemi walking into the gym, his son on his hip with tears rolling down his red cheeks. His little fists rubbing his puffy eyes.
“What happened?” Giyuu asks concerned, his attention no longer on his students as he reached out for his upset son. “You didn’t scare him, did you?”
“Asshole, I’m actually great with kids. I have a ton of younger siblings you know. Your kid was just crying ‘cause he missed you. Couldn’t get him to quiet down, all he did was ask for you.” Sanemi looks at your son as he passes him on to Giyuu. Maybe his mind was playing tricks on him, but Sanemi actually looked concerned for the young boy. Maybe Sanemi really was a lot softer than Giyuu thought.
“ ‘M sorry, Papa. I just missed you…” your son hiccuped out through sobs, his small fists now clinging on to Giyuu’s track suit as he buried his face into his father’s chest. Giyuu combed his fingers through his son’s hair to help soothe him. “It’s okay, I’m here now. You can just stay in the gym with me, you can sit on the bleachers.” He brings his attention back to Sanemi who’s eyes were still trained on the boy. “Thank you for bringing him, Shinazugawa.” Sanemi nods, eyes darting back to Giyuu’s son. Satisfied to see that he’s finally calmed down and starts to walk out of the gym.
“Tomioka-Sensei!!!” A student yells loudly, “Is that your son?!” Giyuu suddenly remembers that he in the middle of a class. None of the students were doing their laps anymore and were all sparkling with joy as they eyed the small boy in his arms.
“I didn’t tell any of you to stop running!” He shouts at the students. They all jump at his command and go back to their physical activities.
-
The bell rings and all the students immediately run up to Giyuu who was standing beside his son who was sat on the bleachers, little legs swaying happily.
“Tomioka-Sensei! Your son is so cute!” A dark red headed boy chimes out first. His maroon eyes sparkling with joy as he stared at the little version of Giyuu.
“Kamado, what have I told you about those earrings?” Giyuu scolds.
“I apologize! They’re my father’s! But can I say hi to your son? Please?!” He beams, barely able to contain his excitement. His other friends gathered behind him, most of them also looking eager to say hello. Giyuu sighs in defeat, “Yes, but don’t bombard him, he can get shy.” Giyuu turns over, holding out his hand for his son to call him over. His son hops to his feet and runs to grab ahold of his father’s hand. His little eyes peering up at the students gleaming at him. Tanjiro gets down on his knee to get eye level with the boy, a sweet smile on his face as he speaks gently.
“Hi, Tomioka-kun! How are you? Happy to be at work with your Papa?”
Your son smiles at the mention of his father and nods excitedly. Tanjiro can feel his heart being squeezed, he found him just too adorable. Reminding him of his baby siblings back at home. Nezuko next to her brother, peering happily at the young boy also seeing her own younger siblings in him. Bringing her hand to pat the top of your son’s head.
“Tomioka-Sensei, I didn’t know you had a wife and family.” Zenitsu lets out quietly. He found his son adorable, but felt too nervous to get any closer. The boy with the unbuttoned shirt next to him just staring in silence with a certain twinkle in his green eyes. A girl with a ponytail on one side of her head with an adorable butterfly clip standing along with the group of kids but looking more spaced out than the rest. And finally another girl with inky black pig tails and blue eyes looking excited beside her. Though stepping closer to also greet the young boy, crouching down besides the Kamado siblings.
“Your son looks just like you, he’s super cute!” The girl chimes out.
“Thank you, Kanzaki.” Giyuu responds, peering down at his son. He looked a lot more comfortable with this crowd. Most likely because they were much closer to his age compared to a room full of adults. Giyuu cant help but smile to himself, watching his son enjoying the attention he was receiving.
-
Finally back home after a long day, Giyuu sighs as he opens the door with his son on his hip. You were already home and started on dinner, immediately wiping your hands on a towel to meet your two favorite boys at the door.
“How was it?” You ask excitedly, reaching out your arms for your son was doing the same for you and calling out "Mama". Immediately kissing his soft cheeks and squeezing him tight to you in a warm hug. Leaning over to give Giyuu his greeting kiss.
“It went well, the teachers were helpful and cared for him when they could. Though he did cry when Shinazugawa was with him.”
You gasp, “Oh no, did he scare him? He can be pretty intense sometimes…” you loved Sanemi but even you had to admit he can be scary to look at.
“No, he’s actually really good with kids. He was crying because he missed me. It was probably scary for him in such a big, unfamiliar building without his Papa.” Giyuu smiles at his son, moving some stray hairs out of his face. “Right? Uncle Shinazugawa was nice? You were just missing me?”
Your son nods at Giyuu’s words, remembering how nice the white haired man was. Remembering how he doodled funny images onto the paper with him. How his grip was too strong he ended up breaking half the crayons. Remembering how when he started to cry that he brought him into an embrace and rocked him to try and soothe him. His thumb wiping away tears that continuously rolled down his cheeks.
“Shinazugawa brought him to me in the middle of my class and all the students were staring.” Giyuu adds on. “It was too hot out so we had class inside so he was able to sit on the bleachers. Not much else happened after that. Just more teachers and students greeting him and telling me how identical we look.”
You smile at your husband, “That’s great to hear. I’m glad it all worked out. Now let me continue with dinner, you two must be hungry, I know I am!” You set your son down and walk back to the kitchen, Giyuu following behind you to help wherever he could.

Current Japanese Study Routine + Resources 🎀
As you all may know, I am currently self studying Japanese and Spanish, though I am putting Spanish on the back burner for now so I can focus more on Japanese as that is where my passion lies at the moment. Lucky for me, there is a Japanese language and culture club on my university campus that I am (hopefully) going to join next week or the week after, given how busy my schedule ends up being. I thought I’d make a little post about my current routine that I use to study and what resources I am currently using and am planning on purchasing to use in order to build my proficiency in this beautiful language!
Current Resources 🩷
Apps - I am currently playing around with several apps to see which ones work for me, so here is all the apps I currently have downloaded to my iPad/phone
Duolingo - this has been a go to for all language I’ve ever tried to learn, it’s useful for me as a basic introduction to vocabulary, sentence structure, some grammar, and I just like how it involves typing, speaking, listening, and reading.
Drops - this one is just a fun little 5 minutes gamified way to learn vocabulary for me, it’s definitely a go to on my lazier language learning days
Bunpo - I like this for learning the kana but I didn’t realize it costs money to use fully so I am debating purchasing a subscription to the paid version
Write Japanese - this one I’m using to learn the correct stroke order for the kana and I like it for the most part
Renshuu - I just signed in to use this one last night and it looks interesting. I’ve seen it recommended by several blogs and even when google searching language learning and watching YouTube videos so I’m excited to try it out!
NHK for School - I saw someone recommend this on their blog and I remember using the website version in the past so I know this will be helpful when it comes to reading
Jisho - this is a dictionary app that I’ve seen recommended on so many platforms and I’m always open to a good dictionary!
Japanese - this one was recommended on a blog post and it allows you to add vocabulary and interesting phrases so I thought it’d be useful once I start on learning sentence structure and grammar
Italki - this one is the one I’m most excited to use. It connects you to people who speak and teach your target language for a set timed lesson, and it does cost money but you pay by lesson, not on a subscription basis. So if you do one lesson the first week and then another lesson in three weeks or something, you only pay for those two lessons. I’m really looking forward to trying this one out in the future once I get more comfortable with speaking.
Anki - a flash card app I am using to currently learn hiragana and will soon use for katakana and eventually kanji and phrases. I was gonna use Quizlet but I ended up liking this one better for my current needs.
LingoDeer, Memrise, Babbel, HiNative, HelloTalk, Hey Japan, Busuu, Kanji, Kana, Sensei - apps that I have and have not tried yet. I really like the ones I’ve already tried so I’m not sure if I’m going to use these ones soon but if I get bored of current apps than I at least have alternatives to turn to to continue learning
Textbooks/Workbooks/Materials - I currently own two workbooks but will include the resource I am planning on buying, as well as any stationery material I am also using!
Japanese for Busy People I - This was the workbook we had for the Japanese class I took at my university while in high school. My dad ended up buying it for me if I promised not to take Japanese classes once I went to college. (My parents don’t believe it is useful to know and they are helping pay for my education so I didn’t have a choice.) I haven’t started reusing it yet but once I am comfortable with the kana then I will resume using it.
Let’s Learn Katakana - this is a katakana writing book my older brother bought for me (he is supportive of everything I have an interest in even if he doesn’t understand it himself) and it is really useful for learning and practicing writing katakana. However I am still focusing on relearning hiragana so I will return to this workbook after I solidify my hiragana knowledge.
Genki I and Genki II textbook/workbook + answer key bundle - I am planning to buy this off of Amazon as I have heard from most people who are learning Japanese on their own that this set is really useful for self studying so of course I am going to invest in it once I get paid next week.
I am also looking for a hiragana, katakana, and kanji writing workbook to practice those skills.
Free Online Resources -
YouTube!
Anime!
Music
Manga
Anything free I can find online when google searching resources
Stationary Supplies -
Kokuyo Campus Smart Ring Binder in pink
Tombow Fudenosuke Brush Pens in black
Index cards
Pilot g-2 fashion pens
Zebra mild liner highlighter/markers
Papermate Mechanical Pencils
Mini notebook to carry around for vocabulary
My iPad + Apple Pencil + Goodnotes 5
My Chromebook
A lot of resources but I am trying to stick with this for the long term. A few years ago, I self studied Japanese everyday for about 2 years and gained a good understanding but fell off from studying Japanese when I went to university.
My Current Study Routine* 🎀
*when I have more than 30 minutes to study, if I only have 30 minutes or less I just mess around on my language apps
I currently do not use any workbooks or textbooks as I am trying to re familiarize myself with the language. Here’s my current study routine!
Practice Anki flashcards 3 times or until I get 85-90% correct
Practice hiragana writing in Write Japanese app (~10min)
Duolingo lessons for 10 minutes
1 Japanese language Drops lesson
Use Renshuu until I get bored (~10-15min)
Watch an episode of anime as a reward (Japanese audio with English subtitles)
I will switch this up to a more structured way of studying once I start using my textbooks and workbooks, but for now this relaxed style of learning is working for me time wise and attention wise (ADHD brain right here).
I also listen to Japanese music throughout the day and try to recall hiragana characters correctly in my head when I have the time. I also sneak in some practice when at work on my apps and whatnot. I mentioned in my last daily check in some of my favorite Japanese artists, and I also love Japanese versions of K-pop songs too! I’m currently watching Bungou Stray Dogs on crunchyroll right now, and I’m open to any recommendations for what to watch next!
If anyone has any language learning tips or resources they’d want to share, feel free to comment! It would be greatly appreciated!
Til next time my lovelies 🩷🤍

chapter 147 thoughts
you guys ever hear the tale of the monkey's paw. grants your wish but you suffer dire consequences as a result? just felt relevant to this chapter for some reason. anyway.
Chapters Since The 143 Kiss Happened And Went Completely Unacknowledged And Unaddressed Count: 4
I'm gonna be up front and say that while I really wanted to like this chapter and it has the bones of interesting ideas, so many of the existing issues with the Movie Arc just bring it crashing back down. I probably dislike it more than I necessarily should because knowing that this definitely is the end and seeing concretely in hindsight just how much time was wasted and how much excellent material has been squandered or flat out skipped over entirely just makes me want to put my head through a brick wall. And it just sucks because, like… man, I don't want to dislike Oshi no Ko! I really don't enjoy feeling like I'm just putting negativity out each chapter because when the story hits, it hits so fucking good!! The Movie Arc has been clunky but it's had some truly breathtaking individual moments and character beats that make me remember why I fell in love with the series so deeply but then chapters like this come along and I wonder why I'm even bothering to keep reading.
anyway. Anyway.
To my genuine shock and surprise, the RBHK conversation happens entirely onscreen and isn't needlessly dragged out which I will take as a W at this point. What is less of a W is how just… underwhelming this ended up being? This is Hikaru's first meeting (that we know of) with the child he fathered and then essentially orphaned… at least as far as Ruby is concerned. So her total lack of reaction to him is baffling. The question currently seems to be whether Ruby is only pretending not to recognize him in order to try and pry the answer she's looking for out of him or whether Akasaka really, genuinely wants me to believe that Ruby does not recognize her father, when Akane recognized him on sight, he looks identical to her twin brother she spent 18 years growing up with and she is in the middle of MAKING A MOVIE THAT STARS HIM. If the latter is the intent then all I can say is that I feel genuinely fucking insulted on Ruby's behalf at her being dumbed down this badly and for myself as a reader that Akasaka thinks I'm stupid enough to buy this. So I am very much hoping it's the former.
The talk they go onto have is also………………………….. man. I want to like it. I really want to pull it apart and analyze it because it is fascinating. It's a really important look into Ruby's feelings and I even myself said this was something I really wanted to see Ruby dealing with - being faced with the realization that the person who killed her mother isn't some ephemeral faceless force of uncomplicated evil, but a fucked up human being who was hurt and suffering and who faced horrific and monstrous abuse just like Ai did. The idea of Ruby wrestling with her conflicting feelings of empathy and resentment, similar to Kana trying to reconcile her lingering hurt with her love for Ruby as her friend, is super compelling.
But like… she didn't! Akasaka having Ruby look into the camera and having her say "uhhh i was totally having all these deep and complicated feelings this whole time trust me bro" is the first we have heard Ruby struggle with literally any of this. It's yet another example of what I've been saying this whole time of Akasaka both lacking enough respect for Ruby to seriously interrogate her as a character and rushing her to the endpoint of what should have been long term characterization in lieu of showing us the work it takes to get there. Rather than organically weaving any of this into the prior story and letting us actually see Ruby work through this, she just starts awkwardly monologing about it to a conveniently placed guy who is, depending on your interpretation of the chapter, either some rando with an umbrella or the guy she's pretty sure killed her mom.
There is no reason her struggling to reconcile these contrasting feelings of resentment and empathy couldn't have been explored as the movie was being filmed. There were countless opportunities for this to have come up while the movie was filming the scenes dealing with Hikaru's abuse - we even get this set up in 139 during the filming of their first meeting but it gets derailed by a dumb brocon joke because I guess that was more important to spend pagetime on than the arc Akasaka is trying to suddenly pretend Ruby was having.
And it's not like it even matters! Unless the next arc is also going to be about 15 Year Lie where we interrogate the content of the movie not shown to us, Ruby's struggle here comes to nothing. That overhanging question of "Will Ai('s actress) forgive her killer or not?" is cut short and goes unanswered. So what was the point of this?
I also just really can't get my head around this continued thread of Ruby wanting to be an idol who 'surpasses' Ai. I had a whole rant about it here I ended up deleting lol but the long and the short of it is it feels entirely incongruous with the series' broader portrayal and Ruby's own attitude about chasing Ai's light and what being an idol did to Ai but at this point I've given up.
The exchange with Kamiki that follows is like, the one part of this chapter I think is just uncomplicatedly interesting and worth interrogation. He actually gives Ruby a lot of genuinely good advice here - that she can only find an answer to that question by interrogating it herself and an answer from someone else won't solve the issue. Does she actually want suffering and revenge? Are those really at the core of who she is as a person?
The framing here is obviously and overtly sinister and suspicious and we're pretty clearly supposed to think he was about to shove Ruby down the stairs, but a few things jumped out to me. The first is that if you pay attention to the backgrounds, they seem to have actually already been close to if not at ground level by the time Akane caught up to them, so… what exactly was a push from that height going to do if he did, in fact, push her?
Not only that but uh… holy shit! His white hoshigan!!!!
Like, am I misremembering, or is this not the one and only time we have ever seen adult Hikaru - maybe even the real Hikaru full stop - without black hoshigans??? Given what we've seen of him so far and how the black hoshigans have been used as a symbol, if he really was about to kill Ruby… where did THAT come from?
Added together with the deeply sympathetic portrayal of his younger self in the movie, it continues to raise a lot of questions for me as to exactly what we're supposed to be thinking of Hikaru and how we're supposed to feel about him that I am finding very compelling. ambiguity enjoyers when the
NINO IS HERE!!!! MISS NINO I'M FREE THURSDAY NIGHT IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO HANG OUT
Joking aside, I'm really glad Nino is here because it implies her whatever the fuck is going on situationship with Kamiki is going to continue into the final arc(s?) of the series and that we'll get to see more of her as a result. Nino's been one of my favourite OnK characters since I first read 45510 so any more content of her in the main story is a treat.
Kamiki's words about the movie killing him via public opinion also lines up with what I was expecting to happen more or less… I'm curious to see how this is all going to play out and what this means for Aqua given that, if last chapter is anything to go by, he's still very much struggling with suicidal ideation. can someone PLEASE give my son a bone crushing hug.
akane stalking kamiki is up there as one of the funniest things ever in this manga btw. what is wrong w her <3
This is unfortunately where me having nice things to say about this chapter ends because the chapter - and therefore the Movie Arc as a whole - ends with this transparently rushed sequence absolutely mach speech blasting through the remaining material of the movie in one and a half's pages worth of silent single panels. Honestly, I really can't properly articulate how mad and frustrated I am about this lmao. It really just feels like Akasaka admitting to the reader that he's stopped giving a shit about what the movie was supposed to be about. The HKAI breakup that was given a huge amount of setup and weight at the start of filming? Ai's pregnancy? AI'S DEATH???? It's all skipped over and brushed aside as if it never mattered in the first place. Never mind any of the interesting characterization we could've gotten out of it. Never mind that the Movie Arc was promised to be about Ai and untangling her past. Never fucking mind Ruby having literally any interiority about having to act out the death of her beloved mother and reliving the event that destroyed her and her brother's lives. If Akasaka doesn't care, why should I?
It feels like a slap in the face for getting invested in the story's promises and trying to engage with it. But of course, I'm going to be back like a clown doing just that when the next chapter drops anyway.
at least we're finally moving on to a new arc but by god. at what fucking cost.
break next week……………………………………………..

So with that being said, sit back, relax, and let's dive into this world of heavy metal rock, magic, and utter mayhem :)
Although you will never get used to being dressed up like this, the dark leathers that were strapped across your body protected you from the chilly morning air.
Draped in colors ranging from chocolate brown to soft tan, your legs were covered by dark pants and knee-high buckled boots. The upper half of this outfit consisted of a double-layered tunic that was lighter shade than the top layer, an onyx-dyed vest, with an iron breastplate. The sleeves were usually pushed up to your elbows, keeping your hands free to work uninhibitedly, though when working with herbs or chemicals, your fingers would be protected by a pair of dark gloves. Pinned to the back of your head was a butterfly-shaped barrette. Hanging around your neck was a frayed reminder of the life you once had; the tattered remains of your sister’s white butterfly patterned haori, that still carried the scent of wisteria and the longing to be wrapped up in Kanae’s arms just one more time.
It was hard to believe today marked the five-year anniversary since your arrival in the kingdom of Meta-llicana. Here in this world, you were not the Insect Hashira who had died in battle against Douma but an apothecary who worked under the royal family. You navigated through the intricate spider-web of the aristocracy and politics who stared at you in contempt or envy for being a ‘self made commoner’ with a polite smile and wave of your hand. When there was silence in the castle, you read yellowed scrolls and brittle-paged texts alike over candlelight, trying to expand on your pharmaceutical knowledge in this world with what you currently knew as the primary healer of the Demon Slayer Corps.
Those nerves of steel were exceptionally helpful when a plague swept over this country from the West and you were arguing with stubborn medical practitioners who believed they were more knowledgeable and experienced than you were to handle the situation simply because of your age and gender.
Ah, it took a lot of self control to refrain yourself from snapping their necks and hiding their bodies~.
And all of these events occurred within just two years. My, my!
Between attending to patients and self-studying, you found a blacksmith in town who was willing to take a look at your broken ninichirin blade. Although the pieces were kept together inside a lacquered box that would cost a years’ salary for a farmer, the places you had gone to previously were either booked for the next several months, or did not want to do business with an outsider. He took one look at it and asked you to give him five gold coins, and he’ll fix it in one week. An expensive fee, but you did not see the harm in giving him a chance; after all, he was willingly to give you a chance, so that must mean something in this world, did it not?
Within the promised time frame, not only had he repaired your sword by melting magic stones mined from the nearby mountains and forging it into the existing blade but he had also thrown in a scabbard made from shimmering red dragon scales; light as a feather, but extremely durable and fireproof. That was how you made your fourth acquaintance in this world.
The first three were High Priest Geo and his two children, Yoko and Lucien, who had found you wandering the outskirts of the kingdom and nursed you back to health.
If Meta-llicana were to fall into the clutches of the Dark Rebel Army, you could put your life on the line to protect them. Although….was it odd that an eighteen-year-old young man like Lucien Renlen was much shorter than you, or how he still came to the palace before dawn arrived just to help you collect herbs in the forest behind the palace, a sacred area that was only accessible to very few people outside of the royal family?
Yoko kept teasing you that he finally had a crush on a pretty girl who worked in the palace, but you weren’t amused. You might still be considered much younger than twenty-three because you were still shorter than most of the tall, regal ladies in the palace, Lucien should seek out other girls than the ones he only socializes with. However, you weren’t his caretaker and had no control over his life as Yoko seemingly had as his surrogate sister and a temporary guardian when her father was away from the country.
‘[First Name]!”
Blinking, you looked away from the basket of herbs by your feet and glanced over your shoulder to see Lucien running towards you, red-faced and smiling….holding a fistful of poison ivy instead of the lily of the valley that you asked him to look for since the flowers on your desk were starting to dry up.
You never would have realized that this simple, innocent boy whom you adored was the reincarnation of humanity’s most evil wizard: Dark Schneider.
Tumblr media
The dark sorcerer Osborn attacked Meta-llicana with  an army of hobgoblins, werewolves, ogres, and many other monsters. His objective was to remove the kingdom’s sacred magic that sealed away the power of the demon god Anthrasax, no matter the cost. But you nor the knights who were the last line of the castle’s defense would allow such an evil to be reawakened again.
It had been a good thing that you resumed training in secret as soon as your sword had been fixed. Let others think that the blade strapped to your hip was just for show. After all, there is no better opportunity to reveal your skills than a smoky battlefield~.
To your mild surprise Bon Jovia, the captain of the knights, did not reprimand nor mock you as you landed gracefully on the blood-soaked ground, incapacitating a frothing werewolf with the Butterfly Dance: Caprice, Illusionary Light. Instead, he thanked you for saving him and his men before pleading for your assistance with keeping the oncoming hordes from getting on the drawbridge. You smiled, saying you were more than happy to oblige…just be aware that you might cause just a little bit of damage to the castle if things get a little tough.
He nodded and barked orders at the men under his command to cover any incoming attacks aimed at you so that you could focus on the bigger, more powerful monsters. Between their formations and Insect Breathing, the creatures did not get on the drawbridge…and yet that son of bitch Osborn managed to get inside the castle through a secret entrance that only the royal family and the priests knew about.
You felt an ache in the back of your throat. Yoko and Lucien were in the castle, hiding from the madness and now these bastards were coming for them and Princess Sheila. Cursing under your breath, you darted down the flight of underground stairs, brandishing your sword and ignoring the shouting from behind. But as you continued to veer from left to right, following only your instinct and the light of the torches wedged into the stone walls, you heard footsteps behind you. Ara, ara, It seems like you weren’t going into the fight alone, after all.
One of the knights that was certainly not the captain eventually caught up with you and took the lead, guiding you and the others straight to the statue of the fertility goddess beneath the chapel. But just when the knight carefully and slowly pushed it to the right, there was a sudden scream. He wanted to close it in case there was an enemy close by, but you were not allowing that to happen. Instead, you persuaded him to move the statue just enough to see what was going on.
And as it turned out, staying hidden was the best choice; because instead of the royal family, or your precious friends being killed by demons, the demons were being slaughtered by a very powerful, and a very naked man with white hair screaming odd words in an extremely loud voice.
Damned!
Shumega…megadeath
Sodom!
Your eyes widened in shock as torrents of hellfire and lightning erupted from the man’s palms, eliminating the ogres and other demons in a single blow. Although he destroyed them…that bastard had the nerve to eliminate Osborn with a Venom spell, roasting the son of a bitch when you wanted to make him suffer with a vial of an experimental poison hidden in your pocket.
The knight bursted to the surface when the threat had been eliminated, his comrades following close behind to check on the priests and the royal family. You immediately went to Yoko’s side, pulling her to you and pointing your sword at the mysterious man possessing bushy brows and sharp blue irises who couldn’t keep his hands off of your friend. You smiled at him.
“Ara, ara, you’re quite familiar with Yoko…but I must ask that you refrain yourself from being too familiar with her, unless,” You lowered your blade to his balls. “You’d like for me to permanently remove a part of your anatomy?”
The man stared at you with fear and arousal dancing in those wild blue irises, his hands instinctively covering his precious cargo. Yoko tugged on the frayed edges of your haori.
“D-Don’t do that, [First Name]! That’s Lucien! Dark Schneider is Lucien!”
You blinked in shock, the smile on your face slowly falling away as you absorbed Yoko’s words. Lucien, the sweet young man….Lucien Renlen was the second identity of the dark wizard, Dark Schneider? There were two identities sharing the same body? What?!
This….this was too much. Crocodile tears threatened to prick the corner of your eyes. How in heaven’s name did this even happen? Why does such a cliche troupe always occur in shounen manga? Wait, why are you thinking like this?! You thought, reluctantly sheathing your blade back into its inky scabbard at your hip.
Amidst the chaos and confusion, Yoko noticed Dark Schneider leaving the chapel and went after him.
You wanted to follow her…but there were people here who needed medical attention, whether you liked it or not. Your oath to help those in need kept you from protecting your friend from a potentially dangerous bastard. You just prayed Yoko knew what she was doing. You knew she was strong…but did she have enough magic to protect herself from a capricious man like Dark Schneider? You shook your head, and began tending to one of knights who had been in here protecting the others.
As it turned out, she didn’t need much protection from Dark Schneider because she had returned less than an hour later to the chapel with Lucien draped in armor and dark clothes twice in size, staring at you in confusion and happiness.
Yoko’s abbreviated version of events went something like this: To release Dark Scneider, a virgin maiden’s kiss and the recital of a spell called Accept were the requirements. Yoko fulfilled at the behest of the priests, even when three of them had been the ones to leak the blueprints of the castle to Osborn in exchange for their loyalty to the Dark Rebel Army so long as they were spared from the slaughter. But they were the ones that Osborn killed first before he ordered his ogres to attack Princess Sheila and her father, the king of Meta-llicana.
Dark Schneider got rid of them because he owed a debt to Yoko, tried to leave so he could begin his plans for world domination, but when he gave her a farewell kiss, the dark wizard ended up being sealed up inside Lucien again.
Well…not what you were expecting, but you were glad that she and Lucien had come back to Meta-llicana unscathed. You had hoped that this would be the first and only time you would cross paths with Dark Schneider.
Unfortunately, not even a month after Osborn’s assault, another general from the Dark Rebel Army came barrelling through the kingdom with a five-headed hydra. And this time, Yoko did not want to relieve the embarrassment of watching everyone kiss her adopted little brother again. Nor did she want to release Dark Schneider in fear that he would try to kill her father now that he had returned home from his journey in another land.
Geo had been the one who sealed Dark Schneider inside Lucien as soon as he was reborn, when the war fifteen years ago ended with the wizard’s loss against the deceased crown prince and the older brother of Princess Sheila, Lars Ul Meta-llicana.
The High Priest scoffed. “It’s a kiss. Stop overreacting.”
“Are you really gonna talk to your own daughter that way?!” Yoko shrieked in the king’s audience chamber as the priests began to panic at the thought that their city, their Meta-llicana, will truly fall into the hands of the Dark Rebel Army unless Dark Schneider was reawakened. You frowned slightly. Geo did raise a valid point in his spiel about the demon god and the Hydra Wizards were, according to some reading you had done on them after the Osborne incident, able to adapt to spells unique to monsters and their summoners. And if you were honest with yourself, which you were….you doubted that you could rally some troops again to help combat this fiend.
The Hydra is infamous not only for having multiple heads and being able to breathe fire. Its scales were just as durable as a dragon’s, which means that your blade could very well break before it could slice through an artery.
You smiled through the unease piling up in the back of your throat when you raised your hand. “I’ll do it.” You said. “I’ll perform the ceremony in Yoko’s place. You just need a virgin who knows white magic, yes? I can do some, if only to accelerate healing and create small barriers.” It was true. You had learned a little magic since coming to this world, but you preferred not to use it that often because overexertion can take a toll on the human body. You honestly did not think you could even do such a feat until you unintentionally used it to heal a scrape on Lucien’s knee a year ago.
Geo blinked, brows furrowing. “Are you sure?”
You nodded. “Mm. It is as you say, a kiss is just a kiss…with the exception of Princess Sheila’s case. If she were to perform the spell instead, then it would be seen as a sign that she takes Lucien as a husband. A kiss in the royal family cannot be given out unless it is in the sacred name of marriage. Or am I wrong, High Priest?”
He shook his head. “You are correct. And we cannot waste time with honor nor matters of purity when the enemy is closing in. Follow my instructions, and we will awaken Dark Schneider.”
You bowed your head. “As you wish.”
Yoko tried to protest, saying it wasn’t right for you to take on this burden when she is a high priestess-in-training and more qualified to do the Accept spell, but you shook your head.
“Ara, ara, there’s nothing to worry about. It’s just a kiss. If that is the price to save this kingdom and to protect your honor, then I will do so. Everything will be alright.” You smiled. “Trust me, Yoko.”
You then knelt in front of Lucien, smiling still as you asked him to come sit with you on the carpeted floor. The boy, bless him, followed your instructions without question and blinked, glancing back at Yoko for a brief moment before he refocusing his attention onto you. You reached forward and placed your palm over his own, which rested on his right knee. “Don’t worry, Lucien. Just relax and close your eyes for me, okay?”
He nodded, his face flushing slightly as he followed your request. Geo stood behind you, reciting the words slowly as you leaned forward, cupping Lucien’s cheek with your other hand.
“Accept this. In the name of Ino Mata, our beloved goddess of beauty, let this seal be broken.”
With the last syllable spoken, you gently pressed your mouth against the vessel of Dark Schneider’s.
A torrent of white lightning and black-blue miasma suddenly surrounded Lucien. The seal was broken. The bastard was waking up again to be used as a shield against the enemies of Meta-llicana's ….even when no one has the right to control a living thing, animal or person.
But when you pulled away, scrambling to put some distance between yourself and the wizard as the transformation began, you were tugged back towards him, your mouth colliding against his again. Fangs and tongue ran along your lips, begging to explore it. You tried to get away, yet your feeble strength did nothing to save you when Dark Schneider bit your bottom lip hard enough to draw droplets of blood and a pained gasp.
This single moment granted the bastard an opportunity to kiss you senseless, making it last as possible before he pulled away. A string of saliva had been created from this unholy union, the only evidence that the kiss even happened. However, Dark Schneider swallowed its remains in a single gulp, and swiped his rancid tongue over your mouth one more, cleaning up the mess he made as he grinned down at you.
“I knew you couldn’t resist me.” He purred.
You wanted to punch this son of a bitch. You wanted to cut off his testicles and stuff them in a jar so that he could never reproduce. You wanted him gone, and your Lucien back. Yet why is it…that when this bastard gazes at you, there is an urge to run away and never look back?
That is because from this very moment, you are all that Dark Schneider will want and ever need in the world. When you kissed him, you made him realize as both Lucien Renlen and Dark Schneider that you were the one he really loves, not Yoko. The Great Priest’s daughter might have treated him well over these past fifteen years, but Yoko did not treat his wounds or sneak candy into his pocket with a secretive smile. No matter how much he complained, you were there. You were always there for him.
Now, he will never let you out of his sight. He will cherish and treat you with the respect you had deserved for all you had done for this kingdom, to these ungrateful assholes. And once he has conquered the world, he will make you his queen and the bearer of his children.
No matter where you go or where you try to hide, he will always find you.

Let's read Kana!
Tumblr media
Let’s read kana from this cookie box!
ガンバレ ♡ ga n ba re ♡ Keep it up! "Ganbare" is a super popular expression that can be easily found in games, anime and manga. You use "ganbare!" when you want to motivate someone to do or to persist in something.
Tumblr media
コアラのマーチ koara no ma(a)chi Koala's March
The "の" (no) particle is often used like an indicator of possession. Koala's March is the name of this brand (it's super delicious!)

The Entirety of Japanese, Lesson #1
AKA - I'm sorry, you do have to learn all three scripts.
Welcome to our first lesson! Today, we are going to learn how to read Japanese.
Sort of.
See, it's not something you can learn in one day, or one lesson. Learning a language is a gradual process that doesn't cement until you start *using* it.
So we will go over the basics, both the WHY three scripts and the HOW to learn all three over time, and then provide 10+ FREE resources from all over the internet for you to practice with!
Let's go!
Why All Three Scripts?
Short answer: because I said so.
Kidding.
The Japanese language has no spaces in it. Unlike English where there is a space between each word, Japanese sentences look like this:
スモモも桃も桃のうち
All three scripts are in this sentence. It translates to "plums and peaches are both like peaches". An odd sentence, but here's why I chose it...
When you write it in *just* Hiragana (the basic, "first" phonetic script), it looks like this:
すもももももももものうち
Yikes. So many も, with no way to tell apart the multiple words in the も train.
So... how can you tell similar words apart when written out?
Wait, let's look back a bit. Can you tell where different words are in the sentence before? Yes. Even without being taught *anything* about the Japanese language, you can tell where different words start just by looking at it.
By writing in multiple scripts, you can tell similar words apart.
Okay... But How Do I Learn Them?
There's quite a few ways to learn them. In fact, on Thursday we will be publishing community responses from our Discord detailing how THEY learned the scripts.
But for now, here is the two first scripts you'll learn in their entirety, thanks to Coto Japanese Acamedy
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You'll learn these first for three reasons:
First, they are easier.
Second, you can spell any word in Japanese with these two scripts. Not a hard and fast rule, but Hiragana is used for native Japanese words and Katakana is usually used for international loan words, emphasis, names, and 'sound effect words', aka onomatopoeia.
Third, you'll see Hiragana above Kanji (the difficult one) that tells you how to pronounce Kanji.
As far as actually learning them, you *could* just write them down over and over.
Writing is super important when learning Japanese.
But it might be easier to start with some apps, games, and videos where you can learn the characters both in context AND within words.
Here's our favorite FREE resources:
Duolingo (Website, Android, and Apple) is great for learning singular words and Hiragana / Katakana, however explanations of grammar is limited to desktop. Still, PERFECT for the beginning stages regardless of device.
Bunpo is another free app for learning Japanese!
JapanesePod101's videos on Hiragana and Katakana over on Youtube are fantastic for hearing natural speach.
Tofugu's Hiragana and Katakana blog posts have the * best * mnemomics, with sound bites.
Busuu's (Website, Android, Apple) Japanese course starts off with Hiragana words to get you speaking immediately.
Kana (Apple, Android) is a free app dedicated to JUST Hiragana and Katakana.
Tae Kim's Guide to Learning Japanese is the holy grail for new Japanese learners. Of course, it has a no-frills explanations of all three scripts.
Japanese Ammo with Misa has detailed lessons on everything, including Kana.
Here's a video on the difference between printed and written Hiragana fonts.
And finally... our discord server.
Wait... what about Kanji?
Well, the problem is there's a lot to learn. A LOT.
You'll be learning them over the course of yearssssssss. But that's fine; you can tune into our lessons to learn them.
Join right here to practice what you learn! You'll also gain access to new friends learning the same language AND more free resources.
We can't wait to see you there!

Ghosts from your past force you to step in the middle of a fight and you do not hesitate to stand up for your ex’s younger brother. | chapter 9 |
﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏
HOW WE MET.
"Kokushibo, I'm not ready for this" you whispered, fanning yourself with your hand in the car.
The bodyguard sitting next to you, his hands gripping the steering-wheel tightly, glanced at you briefly and quizzically quirked an eyebrow up. Today was a special day for you, but sadly a dreadful day for him. He was the unlucky one who had to deal with the future First Lady about to make her first public appearence with Muzan.
Actually, an anxious First Lady.
Why were you panicking? Well, it was not the fact that you were going to be in public with him for the first time. On the contrary, it would have been kind of fun. What troubled you was that he wanted it to look real. It would have not been a simple stroll around the park with him. You had to literally pretend it was your first encounter ever.
"Don't screw it up. We have to feed them a perfect love story, a fairytale", Muzan had told you yesterday night, when you were still a panting mess sitting on his lap.
It was a lot to deal with. How could you pretend you did not know him, after all the wicked things he had done to you and the possessive words he had never stopped whispering in your ear since you had moved over. Also, you were getting so comfortable around him that you had no trouble in confronting him. You were free to tease him like no one else dared to do.
Your relationship, whatever it was made of, was already developing.
"Yes, you are" Kokushibo flatly replied, as he pulled over in a nearly desolate street. The plan was simple. Kokushibo had to accompany you in the proximity of the park and you had to go there yourself. Naturally, the tall bodyguard would have kept an eye on you to make sure you would have gotten to your destination safe and sound, but it was better if you two did not interact on the road.
People could not know you knew each other.
You turned towards him, taking your sunglasses off in a dramatic manner, as you met his gaze. Were you seriously already feeling like a superstar? Probably.
"What?" you blurted out, blinking at him skeptically.
Kokushibo sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose in distress as, for the first time ever in his career, he questioned himself about why he had chosen to work for Muzan and deal with you.
"Get out of the car, or I'll kick you out of it" he said, darting his eyes on the road as you goggled at him. Kokushibo, the respectful and coldest hitman Muzan had, was slowly letting his mask slip out. Were you really getting on his nerves too? You had a talent for wrecking people's nerves, apparently.
"Excuse me?" you piped out, startled by his bluntness.
The man beside you turned his head to the side. He was probably glancing outside the car window, although you could not tell precisely were his gaze was directed. From the white collar of his white shirt, you could see a tattoo. It almost resembled a flame, but you were not too sure about it since his hair covered half of it. Kokushibo was the hardest person to read you had ever met.
"Shock therapy. It always works. There's no time for delay and I am not the type who wipes tears off of your face. Do not expect hugs from me either. Get yourself together and go" he replied calmly, not averting his eyes from the road.
You parted your lips in disbelief as you listened to the stolid man scolding you, as if you were a child. You were stunned in silence, still processing his command as he unlocked the car doors without even glancing back at you to assess your reaction. He was right and you knew it. Yet, you still were determined to mess with him, to deliver him the message that you were not a child and he could at least try to be polite, despite the stressful situations Muzan was putting everyone in.
You pressed your lips together and curled your fingers around the silver handle of the car, clearing your throat "Fine, Coconut. — you chimed, making him whip his head towards you again — Just make sure to get that broom out of your ass, while I'm gone. See you later" you piped put, hopping down of the car and gently closing the door behind you.
You did not even bother glancing back at Kokushibo to assess his reaction. He was probably staring blankly at you. Also, it would have been useless checking on him, since the privacy car window prevented anyone to look into the vehicle.
As you took a deep breath and crossed the road to enter the park, you tried to remember Muzan's instructions. You had dressed as casually as you could, following his suggestion perfectly. Some black Converse, a pair of denim shorts and a black sleeveless shirt. You almost could feel the dim reflection of your old good self walking down the street as a common girl, enjoying the heat of the sun without worrying much about being watched by assassins, or careful not to disappint the devil she was dating.
The birds chirped as they flew from a brench to another, the warm summer breeze grazing your skin and flowing through your air, as you approached the exact spot where you were supposed to meet up with him, making you relax a tad more. The bittersweet scent of flowers pierced your nose and you faintly smiled as you watched a butterfly batting her white wings graciously.
You were about to text Muzan to ask him if he was on his way, when you heard a familiar voice among the boisterous ones of a group of teenagers not too far from you. You would have never mistaken it for someone else's voice. It was impossible, when its owner was a boy you had risked so much for in the past.
He was the brother you never had.
Your head immediately whipped towards the small group of guys, your grip on your smartphone tightening as your eyes widened even so slightly. It was him, you were right, and you were not going to stand still and watch him getting bullied by a bunch of rowdy brats. You did not even have to think twice, you had made up your mind in split second, forgetting about your mission as you jogged towards them.
"You freak, what's happened to your face?" one of the boys said, sneering at the dark-haired guy, gripping the collar of his purple jacket.
He was about to retort something, his fists clenching down his sides, when you stepped in and shoved that guy away from him. You knew he was perfectly capable of defending himself, but you could not let him getting in troubles again. Not under your watch, at least.
"How about you see what happens to yours, if you do not leave him alone?" you sharply asked him, arching your eyebrow as you watched the guy scoff and take a few steps back.
The air was thin as you made sure they took you seriously, as you stood tall in front of them. You were much older than them, they knew better than messing with adults and, therefore, they simply showed you their middle fingers and cussed as they walked away.
Once they had disappeared from your sight, you turned around and your eyes locked with his purple ones.
"Genya" you whispered as he threw his arms around your neck and hugged you tightly.
He had grown up since the last time you saw him. He was taller, a little more mature and muscular and, apparently, he did not feel that shy about hugging you anymore. You had not realized how much you had missed him until now, when he was in your arms.
You closed your eyes and allowed a comfortable silence to swallow you two, as if you were in a bubble, safe from the rest of the world.
"You didn't have to do it" Genya uttered then, his face still hidden onto the crook of your neck not daring to look up at you.
You sighed and slowly broke the embrace, smiling softly at him as you made eye-contact. Those eyes, those kind eyes, jarring with his slightly perpetually feral face, had always made your heart melt. How many times did you wipe his tears? How many times did you cook him a meal and how many times did you teach him how to go on a skateboard without losing balance? You had shared entire weeks with him, taking care of his needs and looking after his back, when Sanemi was not there.
"I don't want to see some handcuffs around your wrists" you joked, ruffling his hair lovingly.
The younger Shinazugawa hummed and averted his eyes from him, tucking his hands into the pockets of his jacket. It starteled you the way he was posing right now: it resembled Sanemi so much. Your heart ached, as flashes of your memories together played on repeat before your eyes. You had shared too much together not to care about them anymore.
You had been there for them that night. You were the first person who got to their home, when Sanemi called you in tears. There was blood everywhere. The small corpses of his brothers and sisters were still on the floor, their glassy eyes boring into yours as you held Genya in yours arms and tried to mend his wounds. Life had never been fair for them.
You knew their pain. You had felt it in your own heart too, after all.
"How are you?" you finally broke the silence again, watching the way Genya lowered his gaze on the dusty ground. Your heart dropped into your stomach, knowing damn well what that face meant.
"Do you want to hear the truth?" Genya asked you then, kicking a pebble aside to focus on something else that were not your eyes.
"Don't you ever lie to me. Three years ago, you had promised me you would have always been sincere to me. I expect you to stick up to your words" you said calmly, despite the war waging in your heart and the fear seeping into your veins with every passing second.
He furrowed his brows and shrugged, his gaze flicking up to meet yours once again as he finally spoke out "Honestly, since you're gone, it's been a living Hell. I miss you, we miss you".
A bullet through your heart would have probably hurt far less than his words. They cut deeper than a switchblade pushed into your heart and you gulped down nervously, tucking a strand of your hair behind your ear. You missed them too. Things with Sanemi, though, had got complicated back in time. You had arrived adrift, at a point of no return. He did not let you in anymore. He seemed to be distant, colder and then you heard him talking with Kyojuro about that girl with pink irises he had met at work.
Betrayal. You feared it more than anything else in the world and therefore you decided to cut all the ties before it happened.
Maybe it was a very rash thing to do, yet, you knew Sanemi like the back of your hand. He was falling in love with her. He was talking about that girl as if she could bring a smile on his face every single time they met. Hating her was not in your style, but you never wanted to be the spare wheel of someone's heart.
"I miss you too, Genya. — you replied in a softer tone, grasping his hand and giving it a gentle squeeze — Your brother and I could not work out together and we will not be able to fix the mess we made. This does not mean you cannot count on me, though. You can call me and text me whenever you want. Also, I think Sanemi's new girlfriend is not that bad, right?" you said, but you regretted it immediately as you watched Genya's eyes clouding over in saddness.
There was something else that he was not saying.
"Oh... Did they break up? Is she nasty?" you naively asked.
"She's dead. Kanae is dead" Genya flatly said.
Your eyes widened as he mentioned that name and, for a second, you thought you had gone mad. Kanae. Was Kanae the name of that famous girl? Was it not the same name of Shinobu's sister? A coincidence. It had to he a coincidence. Muzan could have not possibly been messing with your life as a puppet master even before you met.
"K-Kanae..." you murmured, stumbling on your own feet as you averted your eyes from your interlocutor to put some pieces of that devious puzzle together.
It should have not made sense, but it made some sense. You never got to know what Sanemi was doing for a living, but you had figured that he might have been an assassin and, if he had met Kanae at work, she was an assassin too.
Genya snapping his fingers in front of your face made you come back to Earth. He seemed concerned, you had zoned out for a little while apperently.
"Are you alright?" the dark-haired Shinazugawa said, scanning in your face perplexedly.
You sighed and squeezed your eyes shut, exhaling through your nostrils in frustration, before you shook your head gently "Actually, no. I just remembered I have to attend an important meeting. Please, go back home and text me, when you arrive" she fretted, kissing his forehead and running off.
Genya stood there, watching you dash away from him as if your life was literally in danger, but he did not question you that much. You were a beautiful disaster he had always loved and that he had missed so dearly.
He grinned and jumped on his skate, sprinting in the opposite direction of the one you had taken.
Sweat was beading your forehead as you approached the willow where you were supposed to wait for Muzan, but you were forced to slow down your frentic run as waves of nausea made your stomach clench. It was absurd, you needed more answers and Muzan ought you a lot of them.
You stopped and panted, taking deep breaths to calm yourself down. You had almost succeeded in it, until a familiar cologne pierced your nose and a firm touch, the touch that made you comfortable and irritated at the same time, on your shoulder made you stiff.
You could not stop it, your eyes widened, as you tried to walk away to prevent the catastrophic event to happen. However, he was so idiotic to think you were probably trying to ignore him and screw up his plan that he spun you around.
His red hues met yours for a split second, before you barfed on his expensive mocassins and he cussed under his breath in disbelief.
You blushed, as people started to gather around you, recognizing the famous politician, stuck in a rather embarrassing situation with you. Your mind went blank, already depicting the first page of the local magazins with a frame of you puking on Muzan's shoes in the middle of the park. Shame, panic, anxiety and fear of what Muzan was about to do made you take a step back, but he simply sighed and handed you a tissue.
"Are you alright, miss?" he whispered, actually sounding concerned and satisfied.
So, this is how you two officially met. At least, for the public.
AUTHOR NOTE.
Hello there! I finally updated another part of my Muzan’s series! I hope you can enjoy this chapter. It is maybe a little bit shorter than the usual length I stick to, but I specifically wanted it to be like that. There are feelings, there is angst and some fluff… There’s Genya, my little baby. Thank you so much for supporting my account and this story! Really, I did not expect it to be that appreciated. I feel your warmth and that’s important for a writer. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! Likes, comments and re-posts are deeply appreciated. @mrskokushibo I tagged you in this part because I tortured Koku and I wanted you to see it lmao
Until next,

Mem-Cho's Realization about Aqua's Feelings: Unambiguous and Correct
I don't believe the chapter 83 conversation in Mem-Cho's apartment is as ambiguous as some people may believe, or that its incorrect. Yes, Mem-Cho is unaware of Aqua's trauma, but that doesn't change the fact regarding what she realized about Aqua's feelings. Additionally, Mem-Cho is also an idol so if Aqua's reasons for avoiding Kana were purely motivated by PTSD, then he should be avoiding Mem at all costs too, rather than going to her apartment at night.
Tumblr media
Almost like a part of him does understand that being near Mem isn't going to immediately throw them both into a scandal but still takes extreme measures for Kana.
Tumblr media
To me, this was the one of the 2 explicit confirmations (as of ch125) that Aqua had romantic feelings for Kana - the other being Akane's monologue in ch87. It's especially obvious when you realize it parallels with Mem-Cho's realization about Kana's Feelings for Aqua.
Mem-Cho with Kana's Feelings for Aqua
During the First Concert arc, Mem-Cho hasn't ever seen Kana and Aqua interact on a normal basis, so seeing Kana constantly put Aqua down makes her come to a logical assumption that Kana must hate him for some reason.
Tumblr media
After the concert, Kana starts talking to Aqua again, but their interaction is still stiff since the misunderstanding about Akane isn't cleared yet, which further supports Mem-Cho's incorrect assessment.
Tumblr media
But as soon as Kana starts being happy that Aqua isn't dating Akane, Mem-Cho immediately notices and realizes the truth.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mem-Cho doesn't actually complete her thought below even if most, if not all translations, have her clearly think that Kana likes Aqua, since she cuts herself off and based on phrasing structures in Japanese, the verb isn't spoken.
Tumblr media
The literal translation would actually be 'Arima-chan ____s Aqu-tan'.
But it's obvious on what Mem-Cho realized about Kana.
Going forward, Mem-Cho is usually the character used when Kana's feelings are brought up with another character.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mem-Cho with Aqua's Feelings for Kana
In the Main Stage arc, Mem-Cho confronts Aqua regarding him avoiding Kana. She believes Aqua's unaware of how his behaviour towards Kana could be perceived, which may have contributed towards Kana's "obsession" over Aqua.
Tumblr media
But Aqua rebutted this, and opens up about how he actually feels regarding the situation, revealing that he only is doing this to protect Kana even if it hurts both of them.
Tumblr media
From this, Mem-Cho realizes that its not Kana who is obsessed between the two, but its Aqua.
Tumblr media
Mem-Cho realizes that Aqua cares for Kana much more than she initially assumed, seeing that the idea of Kana being put in danger is making Aqua have a meltdown.
Tumblr media
'For Aqu-tan, Kana-chan is...'. : The direct translation of this line from Japanese would be 'Aqu-tan is the one who ___s Kana-chan', and it's easy to fill in the verb based on the context.
After their conversation, we see Mem-Cho bring up Kana more often to Aqua, even teasing him about "Ah-kun".
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Parallels
Both situations involve Mem-Cho initially misunderstanding the situation when one of the two act distant/cold towards the other. Not because Mem-Cho's bad at reading situations (she's actually great at it), but because she was working off of minimal information.
Once she saw Aqua/Kana let their true feelings slip out, she immediately pieced together that her initial assumption was incorrect and came to the correct conclusion: That the person in-question actually loved the other romantically.
In both situations, her thoughts are cut off from the audience:
'Arima-chan ____s Aqu-tan'
'Aqu-tan is the one who ___s Kana-chan'
Finally, this isn't the only example of Aqua and Kana paralleling one another during the First Concert/Main Stage arc, as another example are the scenes where they push one another away.
It would not make sense to parallel these scenes if they both weren't based off of romantic feelings.

Is it possible for a kanae x demon fem reader, where in when kanae was fighting uppermoon 2 and thought she was gonna die, she was saved by demon r (first time meeting) and then r dissapears, but then fast forward to maybe where the kamado squad was introduced kanae was sent to the same mission as Shinobu to the mountain and they meet again, then they fall in love and such...yes!!
Thank You
Kanae Kochou x She/Her Demon Reader
A/N: I hope this is still readable! I did a lot of writing a few paragraphs and then deleting them all and starting over. Not sure why it was so difficult. Thank you for reading anyway! Word Count:2,720
Was this it? Was this how she was going to die? Kanae tried to remain standing, but the sheer cold of the air biting at her lungs and the wounds she had thus far obtained made it seem impossible. She could not stand by will power alone anymore and fell to her knees, hard. Yet she still held the hilt of her broken nichirin sword between her quivering hands.
She needed to keep fighting… the sunrise was not so far off, but it felt like it would never come. Her crow had gone in search of reinforcements, but she was so far out that it seemed unlikely they would make it in time.
The chill in the air grew colder as the Upper Moon made his casual approach, hiding his chuckle behind a single golden fan. The freezing air caught in Kanae’s throat and made her cough violently.
“Wow,” the demon breathed with what almost seemed like genuine wonder, “you lasted quite a long time. You should be proud! I can’t wait to have you be a part of me forever. What do you say, you must be tired, hm? Hurting, poor dear? Come, let me take your pain away,” his rainbow eyes sparkled as he flicked his fan closed and offered his hand, Kanae weakly knocked it aside with what remained of her blade, cutting his palm.
“I… I have people waiting for me at home. I can’t die,” she coughed and gasped as she attempted to force herself to her feet again, “I won’t.”
Her tormentor pouted and withdrew his hand, already perfectly healed.
“That’s really too bad. How I would hate to cover up any more of your beauty with blood… but seeing as you won’t see reason…”
The Upper Moon was gearing up his fans for another frigid attack, and Kanae prepared herself to use her final breathing technique. Though with her sword halved, she didn’t think it would do her any good.
“I’m so sorry, Shinobu.” She whispered, staring wide-eyed at the incoming attack that was coming much too quickly for her to dodge, she braced herself for the frigid blow, but instead the earth swallowed her up and she found herself engulfed in darkness.
Someone was holding her. They seemed to be phasing through the dirt, clay and rock as easily as a bird could fly through the sky. She could hear the earth rumble and crack around them, but the sound steadily grew more distant the deeper and further they went.
Kanae had instinctually held her breath when she had been pulled under, but she couldn’t last much longer.
“It’s alright, you can breathe.” A voice near her ear softly promised.
Kanae gasped for air, coughing again from the ice irritating her lungs. A gentle hand caressed her back as they continued to zoom through the Earth’s crust.
“We’re almost there, just a little longer.” The voice promised.
And soon Kanae found herself on solid ground again, well, above solid ground. Her vision was a bit blurry, but she could still make out most of the woman, the demon, hovering over her. Had she really escaped one demon only to land in the jaws of another?
“You’ll be alright,” the demon soothed, moving Kanae’s hair away from her forehead, “someone will come out and notice you soon, I’m sure. Just try to stay awake and keep breathing.”
Kanae blinked sluggishly before noticing that they demon had begun sinking back into the ground as the sound of hurried footsteps and shouts filled the early morning air.
“W-wait…” she inched her hand over the grass, but the demon had already sunk out of sight.
“Neesan! Fucking hell, what happened?!”
Shinobu quickly came into view above her with a group of Kakushi in tow. They had just received word about Kanae’s situation from her frantic crow and had hurriedly packed up to go find her, none of them had expected to find her battered and bleeding right in front of the mansion gates.
“Don’t just stand there, help me get her inside, hurry!” Shinobu barked, taking Kanae’s hand as the Kakushi rushed her inside on a stretcher.
“I didn’t even get to thank them…” Kanae murmured, half lucid.
Shinobu shook her head, “Don’t talk, just let us take care of you, okay?”
It was thanks to that demon and the quick work of her sister and accompanying Kakushi that Kanae survived her encounter with Upper Moon Two. As the years rolled by, she would wonder from time to time if she’d ever get to meet the demon who had saved her life again. As fate would have it, their paths would cross again four years later on Natagumo Mountain.
It had been a bit of a rough reunion, chaotic, anyway. Between the spider demon family, the poor poisoned slayers, the one-sided verbal beatdown Shinobu was giving Tomioka for protecting a demon, then having to chase after said demon… it was a busy night to say the least.
Kanae had decided to give chase while Shinobu swore up and down that she was going to be taking Tomioka and the Kamado boy into custody. However, Kanae had just about as much intention of killing the demon as Giyuu did. Sorry Shinobu, but this was all just too fascinating for Kanae. A demon that refused to fight even when backed up into a corner was something Kanae couldn’t turn a blind eye to, not since she had been saved by a demon four years ago.
Since that night, Kanae thought it was perhaps possible to befriend certain demons. After all, they were all human once and many certainly didn’t choose their fate. If they could combine power and resources with demons who hated Muzan as much as the corps did, that would be worth something, wouldn’t it?
Kanae reached her bare hand out to the small, round-eyed demon, cooing at her adorably vacant expression.
“You’re alright, I won’t hurt you.”
“Hmmm?” Nezuko tilted her head to the side and it was so cute, that Kanae was already thinking about what bedroom in the mansion received the least amount of sunlight during the day. Come hell or high water, she was adopting this cute, little demon!
Just before Kanae could take Nezuko’s hand in hers, she felt a faint rumbling below her feet, almost like a hum it was so faint. On instinct, her hand shot out and grabbed Nezuko’s wrist, on the look out for the next possible sign of danger.
A minuscule amount of time passed before she found herself tugged through the earth. It was a phenomena that she had only experienced one other time, but it was hard to forget the sensation. She she strained her eyes to look forward, but it was pitch black. She knew she was still holding onto Nezuko for dear life at least.
Ahead, she could hear the demon responsible for dragging them under frantically mutter to herself.
“I just don’t even know what to do! Tanjirou is badly hurt and has been taken into custody, Zenitsu was poisoned and Inosuke was squeezed like a grape! They’re all too badly beaten for me to take them away from the only people around who can heal them. I can easily get Nezuko out, but that will mean Tanjirou will be doomed for sure then, wouldn’t it? Ah! I don’t know what to dooo! I should have come sooner!”
“Excuse me!” Kanae called out, holding onto Nezuko for dear life, “Could you slow down a bit, please?” She didn’t know what would happen if she was left alone in the ground, but it couldn’t be good.
(Y/n) felt her heart stop beating, not that it really mattered too much, but it was still a shock. She had no trouble seeing through the total darkness, so she jerked her head back to look over her shoulder and found that she had an extra passenger. (Y/n) gasped and immediately slowed her pace so the human could stay connected. If the pressure from the tons of dirt and rock didn’t kill her, suffocation definitely would!
Kanae could just feel the demon’s panic rolling off of her so she spoke up again, “It’s alright, don’t be afraid! We’ve met before, remember? About four years ago, you saved me from an Upper Moon. I owe you my life, so I would never dare to take yours, I promise. Can we go back to the surface to talk, please?”
(Y/n) bit the inside of her cheek and looked over her shoulder again. Yes, that was definitely the demon slayer she had saved. What a terrifying ordeal that had been. To this day she couldn’t believe she had gotten them away Upper Two and lived to tell the tale. He was much faster and stronger than her, all it would have taken was him noticing her hand shoot up from the ground and he would have cut it right off, probably cutting off the slayer’s foot in the process. Fortunately, that hadn’t happened.
“Hello? You can hear me, right?”
“Um, yeah, just hang on a minute.” (Y/n) angled back up and breeched the surface, making sure all of Nezuko and Kanae had followed completely before letting go of Nezuko.
(Y/n) wished she could feel as calm as Nezuko looked. She tried to swallow, but found her throat dry. She could sense how much stronger this demon slayer had become since she last saw her. She was strong back then, make no mistake, but another four years of experience made a lot of difference. (Y/n) hadn’t expected to meet the slayer again, but now here she was, and staring at her so intently too. Why wasn’t she saying anything? Had her words been a ploy to get her back to the surface for an easy attack?
“Ah!”
(Y/n) suddenly found herself wrapped up in the demon slayer’s arms, a happy giggle vibrated against her ear and sent goosebumps all over her body.
“I’m so glad to see you! All I’ve wanted to do for the last four years was thank you for saving me. So, well, thank you!”
“Eep!”
“Oh!”
Kanae staggered on her feet a bit when (Y/n) suddenly disappeared from her hug. She looked down to find her almost completely underground. Only the bridge of her nose to the top of her head was visible and Kanae thought it was the cutest thing she had ever seen, maybe even cuter than Nezuko. She crouched down with her arms spread out,
“Aww, come back. I wasn’t done hugging you. You haven’t even told me your name yet. I’m Kanae!”
The demon rose from the dirt just enough to have her mouth emerge, “(Y/n).”
“So cute!” Kanae gushed, cupping the demon’s face in her hands.
That only made (Y/n) fluster more, but she refrained from sinking all the way into the ground. She couldn’t leave Nezuko alone after all. Not that she seemed to be in any danger with this particular demon slayer.
The light-hearted moment was soon interrupted by a flabbergasted Shinobu tromping upon the scene. The hours afterwards were tense, but Kanae convinced (Y/n) to stay for the trail. She had big plans for (Y/n) and Nezuko it would seem, much to Shinobu’s displeasure. However, Kanae had made sure to tell (Y/n) many times that her own safety should come first. If the trial did not go in their favor, Kanae instructed (Y/n) to escape with Nezuko. Luckily, it never came to that, but it did get very tense at times.
After much debate among the Hashira, Oyakata-sama allowed Kanae to take the demons into her care. It took a lot of time for Shinobu to come around, especially since Kanae had trusted the demons enough to stake her life on their self-control. Even months later, she still came off rather cold, but seeing Kanae so happy made it harder for her to stay upset as time went on without incident. Especially when Nezuko and (Y/n) were genuinely good and did no harm.
Kanae was very pleased with herself. Not only had she befriended one demon, but two! Of course, Nezuko was often off on missions with her brother, so Kanae mostly spent her time with (Y/n), which was great!
Bit by bit, Kanae got (Y/n) to open up more and learned all about her life before and after becoming a demon and the more she learned, the more she could feel herself falling for her and being as intuitive as she was, she expected (Y/n) might feel the same.
(Y/n) never sank through the floor anymore when Kanae gave her hugs, even going as far to melt into Kanae and return the embrace. When Kanae was busy, she’d often feel an extra pair of eyes on her while she worked. (Y/n) couldn’t always slip through the floor fast enough before Kanae would look her way. Sometimes when Kanae woke up in the morning, she’d find a bundle of night blooming flowers in front of her bedroom door.
It happened regularly enough that she noticed a pattern. A new bouquet would appear once the old one began to wither. So on the night that it looked like the flowers were ready to be replaced, Kanae set out with her own small bouquet of flowers that bloomed during the day.
She walked down the moonlit path to where she new the night flowers bloomed and her eyes nearly sparkled when she found (Y/n) already there carefully picking a bouquet from the bushes. With a warm smile, she hid her own bouquet behind her back and continued her approach.
“Good evening, (Y/n).”
“Ah!”
(Y/n) jumped away from the bush, quickly hiding her hands behind her own back.
“Kanae, good evening! You’re up late… mission?” She asked.
“Nope! I was just looking for you. What are you up to by the way?” Her tone sounded innocent enough, but the slight sharpening of her smile proved that her question carried mischievous intent.
“Oh, me? Nothing much. Just… taking a walk.” (Y/n) shrugged and cleared their throat, Kanae giggled.
“What’s behind your back?”
“Nothing’s behind my back.” (Y/n) answered a bit too quickly to come off as anything else but defensive. “What’s behind your back?”
“Oh,” Kanae brought the flowers into view, “I just thought I would return the favor of the sweet person who has been leaving flowers at more door. The only place those flowers grow in the area is right here. You haven’t seen anyone else around here tonight, have you?”
“No.” (Y/n) looked elsewhere and licked her lips nervously. “No, I didn’t see anyone.”
“You still didn’t share what’s behind your back, (Y/n). It’s only fair, don’t you think?”
When had Kanae gotten so close? She tried to peer behind (Y/n) to get a look for herself, but (Y/n) stepped back a bit, and a bit more and a bit more until Kanae had backed her up against a nearby tree.
“Won’t you show me, please?” Kanae pouted. (Y/n) stubbornly shook her head. “You know what I think, (Y/n)?”
“What?”
“I think, you really do want me to know, but you’re feeling too shy, otherwise you would have sunk to the mantle by now.” Her soft voice only served to make (Y/n) feel more flustered, but she still stood on solid ground which Kanae took as a good sign.
Gently, Kanae reached around and tugged on (Y/n)’s wrist, encouraging her to bring her hands forward. With a shaky inhale, the demon complied, slowly revealing the bouquet of flowers she had picked and handed them out for Kanae to take if she so desired.
She really shouldn’t have been so surprised when Kanae not only took the flowers, but put her own colorful bouquet in (Y/n)’s hand to replace the one she had given away, along with a gentle kiss on the cheek and a quiet, ‘thank you’ whispered against her ear.
It took her a moment to reboot, but Kanae smiled patiently.
“You’rewelcome,” she spoke hurriedly, then looked down at the flowers in her hands and added, “andthankyoutoo.”
Kanae laughed, initiating another hug while swaying so much they could have been dancing together. When they returned to the mansion, it was hand in hand, with a bouquet on either side and a pair of elated, well-kissed smiles.
