As OPEC Plus Nears a Milestone, Focus Shifts to Russia and the U.S.
Officials from OPEC, Russia and other oil-producing countries will arrive at the OPEC Plus conference on Thursday, which may be at a critical crossroads as the gradual recovery of production from the depths of the pandemic is nearly complete. .. OPEC Plus producers will probably paraphrase the decision made last month. Increase daily production of 648,000 barrels in August.. As a result, the…

FanFiction.net is not gone.
Right now it's a victim of DNS (Domain Name Service) spoofing. This means that a malicious party is trying to steal traffic from FFn by purchasing a very similar domain.
Correction:
The new "fake" site that people are seeing still belongs to FanFiction.net—they just misconfigured their servers and are not redirecting traffic from the bare fanfiction.net to the main site at www.fanfiction.net. There is likely no malicious agent. Didn't mean to scare anyone! Just wanted to let people know the site wasn't deleted!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So if you want to read fanfiction and not see leaves, you have have to type out "www.fanfiction.net".
Please share so people stop panicking.

Hollywood in the Courtroom: The Riveting 'Rust' Case Nears Its Climactic Verdict
Tumblr media
'Rust' Trial Drama Reaches Crescendo with Intense Closing Arguments
In a storyline as gripping as the scripts from Hollywood's finest, the tragic tale of the 'Rust' movie set shooting took center stage as attorneys presented their final arguments, each side bitterly contesting the narrative that will determine the outcome for actor Alec Baldwin and the film's armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed. The stakes are high, and the courtroom atmosphere is thick with the promise of a verdict that will cement this story in legal and cinematic history. The day's proceedings echoed with the gravity of the tragic incident that befell cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, who lost her life, and director Joel Souza, who was injured when a prop firearm, handled by Baldwin, discharged a live round during rehearsal. As the gavel sets to fall marking the end of the trial, everyone—from the families involved to the public and the film industry—waits with bated breath. The Prosecution's Final Act As expected in such a high-profile case, the prosecution made a compelling closing performance aimed at convincing the jury beyond a reasonable doubt. Armed with evidence and poignant statements, they built a narrative of blatant neglect for safety protocols. Eyes locked on delivering justice for Hutchins, they charged that Baldwin and Gutierrez-Reed missed multiple warning signs and failed in their duty to ensure the set was free of lethal risks—a step they claim could have averted this nightmare. Defense Counters with a Passionate Rebuttal In the corner of the accused, the defense teams for both Baldwin and Gutierrez-Reed mounted a vigorous response. Their argument hinged on age-old wisdom: accidents, however horrific, do happen, even with precautions in place. They contended that their clients could not have anticipated the lurking danger in what was supposed to be a controlled environment, stressing the absence of intent to harm. They aimed to paint a picture of two people caught in a maelstrom of freak circumstances, rather than orchestrators of recklessness. The Role of the Jury The pivotal role in this act now falls upon the shoulders of the jurors—a diverse cast of citizens from different walks of life, now entrusted with the hefty task of sifting through the drama to uncover the truth. Their verdict will hinge on whether the narrative woven by the prosecution has been sufficiently countered by the defense, or if doubts loom heavy enough to sway the scales in favor of the accused. Bracing for the Final Curtain Call With the closing arguments etched into the courtroom's memory, all participants brace for the final curtain call of this saga. Whatever the outcome, the reverberations of this case will be felt deeply, certainly influencing the future of on-set safety protocols and reshaping the conversation around responsibility in the film industry. The ending is unwritten, and the final fade-out is yet to come, leaving those beyond the courtroom pondering the broader implications of justice and accountability in a field where art and life converge with sometimes catastrophic consequences. Right now Israel's bombing Rafah, the last refuge for a million Palestinians, where they were previously ORDERED to evacuate to and are now trapped in while the US news cycle is dominated by Big Football Game And Celebrities In Attendance (at which Israel also aired a million dollar propaganda video). I wish I could say this is unbelievable.

So I'm leaving work and something darts in front of me, maybe 10ft away, too fast for me to see what it is. Peek around the tree blocking my path and I see this
Tumblr media
Just like... a whole ass hawk. Dude's gotta be about 1.5ft tall. Massive fucking bird. And it's just staring me straight in my soul like this, even as I try to move ahead. It didn't budge. And there's only this path back to my car unless I want to walk on a busy highway. So I have the option of Death By Raptor or Death By Truck.
So I walk in the poison ivy filled patch off the sidewalk. Guy still isn't moving. Still staring me directly in the eyes. And I do this thing when animals are behaving strangely where I'll talk to them, so I'm just like, "Hey, man. I don't know you. You don't know me. This feels really threatening. I'm just trying to get to my car, dude. Can I get some space please? You're a big fucking bird. I see those claws. You could kill me right now, but I'd appreciate if you didn't, ok?"
It didn't move until I was about 2ft away. Again: I'm as far from it as I can be without walking into the street. It clearly wasn't going to budge. I walk past, thing flies up (silent, btw. Scary) and lands on a brick wall a little further ahead
Tumblr media
Anyway. Weird guy. Nearly shit my pants when I noticed a bird big enough to carry off a fully grown cat was just... there, staring me in the face, unwilling to move away from me, a human, something it should see as a threat. I watched behind me the whole rest of the way to my car, just in case this bird decided to help me shed this mortal coil. 10/10 experience. Super cool guy.

Great news for uninsured adults in the USA who want a COVID-19 booster! It now appears that ALL CVS locations are now active participants in the Bridge Access Program. The Bridge Access Program gives out free Covid-19 vaccinations to 18+ adults who otherwise can't afford one, so if you have a CVS near you, please go get one! For others who don't have a CVS near them, please go to vaccines.gov, click on "Find Covid-19 vaccines", fill out which vaccines you prefer (you can mix different vaccines if you have to so i reccomend just marking all of them for the age groups you need), and when the next page loads mark the "Bridge Access Program Participant" option to see only locations that are Bridge Access Program participants. Hopefully, other places that aren't CVS will start participating soon, so just check back every so often to see if there are any updates. The CDC Bridge Access Program website also has more details on what locations will be participating, but only CVS is appearing as an active participant on the vaccines.gov location finder at the moment.

I just saw perhaps the coolest art installation I have ever heard of.
Tumblr media
This is a perfectly normal pin. On the head of it are 2.417 quintillion angels, give or take a few billion.
Joe Davis and Sarah Khan, the artist behind Baitul Ma’mur, (House of Angels) encoded the Arabic phrase “Subhan Allah” onto synthesized DNA, and then used that DNA to coat the head of a pin. According to some traditions, any time Subhan Allah is said or written, it creates an angel. With DNA being as dense an information storage medium as it is, this single pin has more created angels on it than have ever been born from human throats across all of human history.
And then in a fucking genius move, the art installation takes the form of a functional vending machine, loaded with an impossibly large quantity of angels. For $25, which goes right to the artists, you can buy a pin. I’m thinking about taking mine out of the test tube sometime and encasing it in resin to turn it into the highest % angel by volume earring ever worn, but that’s a project for the future.
Tumblr media
There isn’t much else I can say that isn’t said by the documentation accompanying the exhibit. The photos aren’t the BEST quality but they should hopefully be mostly legible.

As of right now this installation is located at the MIT Museum in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and if you’re ever in the area you should totally check it out
