MAGAMike said “There’s been some really bad law made” “and maybe some of that needs cleaned up”
Johnson, who is now the Speaker of the House, made the comments in a podcast interview with right-wing commentator Todd Starnes on June 24, 2022 — the same day the Supreme Court voted to overturn Roe v. Wade.

While many other cities celebrate gay pride in June, Atlanta does it in October. This month coincides with National Coming Out Day and acknowledges the anniversary of the National March on Washington for Gay Rights. Another reason for holding Atlanta Pride in October is the cooler temperatures. Despite the fall breeze, the celebration doesn't stop from heating up here in the big peach.
Atlanta has become a melting pot of diversity from all over the country. It attracts many young professionals because of its career opportunities; the median age is only 33. Also, many members of the LGBTQ community have migrated to Atlanta from smaller Georgia cities and towns and from neighboring states. This may partly be why Atlanta is known as the gay epicenter of the South. There is broader acceptance for being gay in Atlanta because of the combination of youthfulness and familiarity.
However, in contrast, it is still a city in the Bible Belt and a major center for traditional religious denominations, such as the Southern Baptist, which is alive and prolific in the South. This incongruity creates an interesting mix of similarities and differences.
If religion preaches love, and Pride does the same, they are not opposing beliefs at the core. Where they become disconnected is in the use of power. One belief system is about having authority over others, while the other is about empowering ourselves. You gain control over another by convincing them your way is the only way. In contrast, you evolve by enabling others to grow by honoring their individuality.
Pride is more than rainbows and parades. It is about being authentically yourself, regardless of what others think. There is no deeper blasphemy than not being true to ourselves. We are here to express our unique abilities. Helping the world evolve and expand is our natural state for our souls and planet.

Posted @withrepost • @theadvocatemag President Joe Biden signed the Respect for Marriage Act into law Tuesday afternoon, assuring that marriage equality for same-sex and interracial couples will remain the law of the land no matter what the U.S. Supreme Court does. "Today's a good day," Biden said as he stepped before the audience outside the White House. He recalled when he first came out for marriage equality 10 years ago, when he was vice president. "I want to thank all of you for being here today," he told those in attendance, citing Vice President Kamala Harris, First Lady Jill Biden, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. The Respect for Marriage Act will assure that the federal government recognizes same-sex and interracial marriages and that all states recognize those performed in other states. These 36 #Republicans voted against the #RespectForMarriageAct. The #GOP is against protecting the right to marriage of #interracial and #LGBTQ couples. Old white man #MitchMcConnell voted against his own marriage to an Asian woman, and #LindseyGraham is (allegedly) deeply closeted gay. I wonder how many of these folks are as white as they think they are? Allegedly. How many of them are as "pure blooded" as they want you to think? #politics #USpolitics #samesexmarriage #gaymarriage https://www.instagram.com/p/ClrCXlcuu7w/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Richard Sidow Sobrino and I are Celebrating 3 years of being Married on August 24th. In a private ceremony, we got hitched in The wedding Capitol of the world, Las Vegas, NV.  We attended Cher's live Show at MGM Grand. When the staff heard about it being our special day, we were moved from our seats to VIPs. We got chocolate-covered strawberries, and the entire stadium cheered for us. Watch our wedding video, and Thank You for being the guest of honor of our love celebration. #Sidowsobrino #Theworldsno1superstar #Loveislove #celebraityweddings #celebritynews #celebritystyle #samesexmarriage #Samesexlove #menweddings #menlove #Pridelove #Samegenderweddings #celebrityfashion #Music #Movies #trendingartist #News #lovewins #menformen #Manlylove #grooms #lasvegas #Lasvegasweddings (at Las Vegas, Nevada) https://www.instagram.com/p/Chmstfzg_yD/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Niecy Nash-Betts, the effervescent actress and entertainer, is preparing to grace the stage at the GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles. This return to the organization, having hosted the show in 2021, comes as Nash-Betts embraces life with renewed joy and self-acceptance. Following her marriage to musician Jessica Betts in 2020, Nash-Betts has become a powerful advocate for LGBTQ visibility and living authentically. Ahead of the awards ceremony, where she'll receive the Stephen F. Kolzak Award, Nash-Betts spoke with THR about love, navigating new realities, and her perspective on representation in Hollywood. Living Authentically and Receiving Recognition When asked about her reaction to the GLAAD Award, Nash-Betts exudes genuine humility. She emphasizes living life on her terms, prioritizing self-acceptance and personal fulfillment over external validation. However, she acknowledges the honor inherent in receiving recognition for simply being herself and living authentically. Love as a Catalyst for Growth Reflecting on her marriage to Jessica Betts, Nash-Betts describes a love that feels "richer" and more fulfilling than ever before. She emphasizes the profound sense of being "completely seen" and the positive impact this love has on all aspects of her life. She sheds light on the concept of "custom" love, defying traditional labels and embracing the unique connection she shares with Jessica. Breaking Barriers and Embracing Love Openly Nash-Betts readily admits that her past relationships were exclusively heterosexual. Yet, upon meeting Jessica, she embraced the unexpected shift in her life with open arms. She highlights the decision to celebrate her love publicly, becoming the first same-sex couple on the cover of Essence magazine and portraying lovers on network television. For Nash-Betts, this wasn't about seeking attention; it was about living authentically and defying societal expectations. Early Encounters with LGBTQ Representation While pinpointing the exact moment she encountered LGBTQ representation in pop culture proves challenging, Nash-Betts recalls discussions surrounding a specific episode of "Maude" during her childhood. She observes the evolution of societal attitudes and the importance of visibility, particularly within the Black community. She recounts the positive response she received after coming out, with many people feeling a sense of identification and shared experience. On the Debate of Representation in Hollywood Regarding the ongoing debate about casting choices in Hollywood, Nash-Betts adopts a pragmatic approach. She prioritizes artistic expression and believes talent should supersede labels. She acknowledges the contributions of LGBTQ actors who portray straight characters and argues that the same freedom should be extended in the reverse. A Life Filled with Recognition As a decorated actress, Nash-Betts has accumulated a collection of awards. She describes their placement throughout her home, a testament to her successful career. From a dedicated media room to prominent displays in the family room and even her closet, these awards serve as a reminder of her artistic achievements. In a spontaneous moment, Mitchell Anderson became the face of gay Hollywood when he came out at the GLAAD Media Awards in 1996, which was pre Ellen Degeneres's coming out in 1997.
His acting credits include, but are not limited to, "Doogie Howser, M.D.," Party of Five," "The Karen Carpenter Story," "Jaws: The Revenge," and his most recent Amazon Prime series, "After Forever."
In a time when being gay was not accepted, especially in Hollywood, where the stakes were higher, Mitchell rode out his self-discovery in secret. His only public outlet was becoming an activist for HIV. He is proud to say he helped change the political landscape by promoting the politicians who brought education and funding for HIV, which up until then was condemned as the 'gay plague.'
He was given one of the first gay parts in the TV series, "Party of Five." At the 1996 GLAAD Media Awards, he was asked over and over in the press line, "What is it like to play a gay character when you are straight?" At that moment, he had to decide whether to stay in the closet and support bigotry or come out and bring familiarity to the intersectionality of Hollywood and gay.
