The Case Files of Seo Yo-han has just turned into a six-book series. Is anyone surprised any more? (I am. I shouldn't be, but I am.)

Introducing both new instalments at once, because why not:

Title: There Stands a Spectre

Genre: Murder mystery

Setting: ??? Possibly 1910?

Summary: A man and woman disappear without trace. A student is accused of rape. A teenager ran off with his parents' money. All these cases happened in the same area within one week. Yo-han discovers this isn't the only link between them.

Status: Planning in progress

Fun facts:

The title is a quote from Lady Clara Vere de Vere by Alfred Lord Tennyson: "There stands a spectre in your hall:/The guilt of blood is at your door."

Despite what you might think, the case doesn't involve a literal ghost haunting its killers.

This book doesn't have a happy ending. Consider yourself warned.

The main inspiration is Whose Body? by Dorothy L. Sayer.

Title: The Tempest and the Night

Genre: Murder mystery

Setting: ?? Probably after Houses Full of Deceit, so 1920-ish.

Summary: A rainstorm reveals someone has been murdered and buried in someone else's grave. Different types of earth clinging to the body reveal it was buried somewhere else, then exhumed and reburied. Yo-han has to answer three questions: who killed them, where they were first buried, and why they were moved.

Fun facts:

The title is a quote from The New Locksley Hall by Francis Adams: "Enter then within your chambers in the rich and quiet light:/Never think of us who struggle in the tempest and the night."

The main inspiration is a terrible mystery novel I read last year. It had an interesting premise (body exhumed and reburied in someone else's grave) but the worst execution and the solution made no sense. I was annoyed into planning my own take on that premise. So here we are ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

A lil twi x tempest wip before I go to bed :)) I wanted to try out a softer type style if that makes sense?? Kinda like what they use in the show? I like the soft little noses and bodies, they are ponies after all I guess. I think they're cuties, I like to imagine tempest is the captain of twilights royal guard kinda like shining armor and cadence lol. I based their poses on that one screencap of rarity and Fluttershy. When I finish it I'll include the screencap in case you guys don't know what I'm talking about hehe.

Working on my Sora ref and decided that she gets to wear a onesie under her racing suit and also light-up shoes. Is it practical? No. Is it something a 13yr old would probably do? Sure.

Ooh The Tempest and the Night is a very fun title 👀

Thanks! :D It's currently the last book in The Case-files. (Whether it stays the last is another matter...) Unlike the other books, it has two murder mysteries:

Murderer 1 kills Victim 1 and buries him in a forest. Murderer 2 is a serial killer who buries her victims in the same forest. She discovers Victim 1 and knows he isn't one of her victims -- she kills teenagers, and he's an adult. She thinks the police might come looking for him and find her victims at the same time. So she digs him up and puts him in a recently-buried coffin at the local cemetery.

Then a rainstorm washes the coffin out of the grave.

Yo-han gets involved and tries to figure out why the body was moved. He also realises there's a serial killer on the loose, because far too many students are "running away" from school and never being seen again.

For most of the book he thinks he's looking for only one murderer. It's only after he catches the serial killer that he realises someone else killed Victim 1.

Still working on my Tempest Monroe redesign

had to make some stuff up because I couldn’t find a whole lot on her

So uhhh this is what I came up with so far

she’s actually from Miguel’s timeline and she works in the fashion industry specifically as a fashion show coordinator. ( I thought it would be a nice call back to MJ since she’s a model, yes I too did not know that about MJ) Seems very petty and diva like at first, but becomes more relaxed and nice when you get to know her.

Another WIP Wednesday!

You get a second one today cos this one is festive! Belated jingly bells! and blame @teapotteringabout re the mistletoe.

and context, for the fic Marina is using a mix of signs and gestures and werid ocean hokey pokie telepathy jazz.

“For Kissing? Poinous plants for are kissing?”

“Yes. It’s a tradition. A Kiss Under the mistletoe.”  Atlanta explained. 

despite being told to take it easy Atlanta was insistent she still hang up the decorations. and woudn’t hear of anyone else doing it for her. Troy was only allowed to hold the step ladder while she was up it in the lounge door way. She was being careful while and where she was hanging the mistletoe. Marina still eyed it with mistrust as Atlanta pinned it’s ribbon in place.

“Even plastic plant? And Kiss? Like really kiss? land / Human kiss?” she clarified, and Pointed at her lips, then tapped them. 

“No!” Atlanta squarked. She nearly dropped the darn thing. Atlanta amended. “no. No honey, You don't have to do that.”  

“Maybe just give people a peck on the cheek instead?” Troy suggested.

“Or nothing.” Atlanta Stressed at him. Then finishing hanging the fake decoration tuned back to Marina. “You don’t have to kiss anyone. at all. not if you don’t want too. And you don’t have to be kissed either, cheek or lips. Don't let anyone pressure you!”

The mermaid relaxed a lot at that.

“That said, don't teach them a lesson like you did to Mackle.” Atlanta warned. Troy agreed.

“Yeah, we don’t want you grounded again Marina!”

“I'm only going to hand a few sprigs up. This one and a couple there and maybe over in the hall. so you can avoid it at the party.”  

Marina nodded and signed her thanks. And then [fill]

Both helping her down the step ladder.

“Peck?” Marina asked Troy. “That's a cheek kiss? called peck?”

“Yeah.”

“so still kiss under plant? Tradition?”

Atlanta frowned.  

“What are you getting at? oh!”

Atlanta was Taken surprise As with a little hop up; Marina kissed her. On the cheek just before the corner of her of her lips.   she dosnt plucker her lips enough or angle her head quite right. So it's more a brush of closed lips and her nose pressed to Atlanta’s cheek / Nudgeing her nose agaist Atlanta's cheek.

 It was more a bump or a nudge then a Peck really. Like the one Marina had given to Shellfia that time, but not as squishey.  

“Ain't that sweet.” Troy teased. Atlanta blinked.

“Like that?” Marina asked cheekily.

“Yes! i mean. I suppose. but Only if you want to, Marina. And like the person.” Atlanta stammered. Marina Beamed nodding. 

Oh no.

Atlanta felt possivly Giddy. To giddy to go back up the ladder and let Troy take over.  

Worse she was distracted about it all evening. Right up until Troy gave her a real kiss in the same doorway. And even then she was still thinking about Marina afterwards.
