Galra Genetics

--------------------------

Basically just a list of unique Galra only genetics I've seen within the show.

--------------------------

1. Hair line/Markings:

The Galra seem to have a very specific hair line within the show that can be seen even on scalier Galra, such as Zarkon. This Hair line isn't as straight as others we've seen in the show and appears to point down closer to the Galrans' face in comparison to other races. Galra with markings instead of large quantities of fur tend to also have this as their markings end up pointing towards their face as seen with Ezor, Narti, and Ranveig. This is seen in only Galra and Galra half breeds, such as Lotor's generals.

2. Mohawk/head point:

Mammalian Galra typically have a Mohawk on the top of their heads and reptilian Galra tend to have the scales end at a point as seen above. Though there are some Galra that don't quite have this such as ranveig, I haven't seen the specific type of hair growth on any other races. And while one could dress their hair up like a Mohawk, the Galrans tend to be more naturally occurring. Possibly due to skull shape? Or maybe some genetic evolution not told to us in show.

3. Detached ears/predators ears:

This refers to the loose skin and tissue at the bottom of the ear. This is the area where you'd typically attach earrings to. Detached ears are when that skin and tissue is not attached to the side of the head where the jawbone meets the skull. Having detached or attached ears will not affect your hearing in any way. Galra tend to have detached ears or Animal ears genetically closer to that of predators. I tried to see if there were any types of classifications to animal ears and couldn't find squat.

4. Elongated arms:

While human arms are typically long enough to be a hip length or a tad lower the Galran arms are a tad closer to the knee than other limbs shown in show. This also indicates that unlike humans, when Galrans' stretch their arms away from their bodies, the length from one arm to the other may not match the length of the individual's body like it does for Humans.

5: Sharp pupils/overall eyes:

Just as said, the Galra typically have sharper more predatory like pupils compared to other races. Though some Galra seem to lack any distinct factors to their eyes compared to other Galra, my personal theory is that when a Galran undergoes large amounts of quintessence treatment, the quintessence in the body begins to take over and seemingly hide the pupil, iris, or other parts of the eye. We can see this happen first hand with Haggar/Honerva and Zarkon. As well as Sendak when we see an alternate version of him in season 8. Other factors of the Galran eye, the Sclera is yellow in color instead of white and the iris is usually red in coloration. I've also noticed that in terms of eye shape, eyes lacking in an iris or pupil, tend to have a more exhausted expression to them (dipping downwards and having eye bags). This could also be attributed to larger amounts of quintessence within the body.

Like I've said in previous posts, I'm not an expert in any of this stuff regarding, psychology, genetics, ect. While I have studied with ambition into these topics I'm not a viable source for information regarding anything in relation to science and at most may know more than the average individual but that's about it.

When the paladins got back to Earth, they weren't thinking about politics or how tough it would be to integrate the entire universe with Earth's database. And of course, somehow, Keith ended up being the one person to have to deal with the Gala resistance fighters and making sure they filed their damn paperwork.

"Yes, I know you've already moved Acxa into your clan Kolivan, but Earth doesn't see it that way. You have to fill out adoption papers, so they know she's your kid."

"No, Ezor I know you and Zethred are bonded. But Earth needs you to fill a marital status. Why? In case you get hurt in Earth territory. Yes, I know you can handle yourself, but the government needs to know who to contact."

"Krolia you have to officially notice Romelle as your kindling by Earth standards. Why? Because mom, I'm a member of the government and they need to know who is considered family and who isn't."

"No, Ezor and I don't consider each other family but because Acxa does, it goes into my paperwork as us being family."

"Zethrid, Ezor, you can't take random alien babies and claim them as your own without bringing them in for a checkup and filing the paperwork... Because Zethrid, Earth thinks were family!"

Keith specifically spends as little time as possible on Earth just so he doesn't have to update his paperwork. Galra customs and Earth paperwork don't mix well, and Keith is kind of sick of it.

The Chat Latte

“Remind me why we're here again.” Lotor said for what had to have been the fifth time as Ezor dragged him through the streets.

“To that cute cafe.” she replishewith that impish grin that always seemed to be plastered on Ezors face. “Now stop asking and just go along with it.”

A sigh crossed Lotors lips as they waited for the crosswalk sign to light up. “It's hard to go along when you refuse to tell me anything about the destination. What's so great about this coffee shop anyway?”

Ezor only rolled her eyes as they crossed the street. “Why must you doubt me?”

“Because not even Zethred would come. Usually that's a good sign that whatever you're up to is not worth the headache.”

His friend gasped dramatically as if what he said had actually bothered her. “So mean! I'll have you know that this will be worth the trip. They have great coffee, plenty of treats, its next to a bookstore…” then that evil grin widened. “And plenty of pussy to choose from.”

Lotor groaned. “Ezor I swear if this is another one of your schemes to get me a date, I will dangle you from the balcony with your own ponytail.”

She smugly flipped her bright pink hair over her shoulder. “So dramatic.”

“If only I were.”

Ezor ignored the comment and skipped ahead before stopping in front of a building, holding out her arms toward it as if it would help her show off. “Ta da!”

Lotor finally looked at the pastel sign that hung above the door, The Chat Latte. A look into the big shop window revealed cats all over the place as they lounged on pillows and chairs or being pet by the customers.

“oh ha ha, Pussy as in cats. You think you're so clever.”

“ I don't have to think when I know. Now come on!” She looped a slender arm around his and pranced inside the shop.

“Welcome.” A petite girl behind the counter greeted. “Can I help you?”

Ezor scanned the menu behind the counter. “Uh...a large green tea for me. And…” she turned her head to him. “What about you?”

“I'll take a black coffee.”

The girl nodded as she rang them up. Then gestured to the doorway by the counter into the next room that held all the seating. “You can go in there and enjoy all the cats. I'll bring your drinks right away.

Ezor practically bounced towards the cat room, Lotor trailing behind, carefully opening the divider in the doorway. There were not many people there that day, and they had found plenty of empty seating by the window that looked onto the street.

Ezor had wasted no time in dumping her purse on the table and going to coo at the nearest cat that lazing around in a cat tree. ”Aren't you the cutest,fluffy, little thing?”

Lotor only chuckled at his friend as he looked around the room. This place was clearly an old house that had been converted into a business. The aged and carved shelves that had been built into the walls had been painted pastel pink and mint green. They were filled to the brim with books and feline themed knick knacks. The walls were plastered with vintage looking art of cats and coffee. Along with a board of cats that had been adopted from this place pinned to it.

As he examined the room, he felt a nudge against his foot, looking down the tiniest kitten he had ever seen greeted him. It was a small thing with large blue eyes that bore into him.

“Well hello there.” He greeted it gently, slowing scooping the kitten off the floor. “Come to keep me company?” A pleased purr was it's only reply.

“Wow.Rover seems to like you.”

Looking away, he saw the petite girl that had taken their orders setting down two cups in the table. “It seems he does. Is he always this friendly?”

“Actually no.” The girl replied, reaching over to pet Rover behind the ear. “He's our newest cat, and he's usually very shy.”

“Well it looks like he has good taste.”

“I would hope so. Up until now he only seemed to like me.”

“Oh really.” He looked at little Rover in his arms. “Then you do have excellent tastes my friend.” A meow that came out more like a squeak was his only reply. Lotor chuckled and looked back at the girl. Her short hair had been pulled back with a green bandana, putting a face full of freckles and bright eyes in full display. She was rather cute. Rover had good taste indeed. “I'm Lotor by the way.”

“Katie.” She said. “But everyone around here calls me Pidge.”

“Do I want to know why?”

Pidge shook her head. “Its a long, very dumb story. I'll spare you the pain.”

Lotor grinned at her. Pidge looked away from him and glanced at the table where she had placed their drinks. “Would you like anything else?”

“Not for now, thank you.” He watched her walk away, back to the counter to wait for other customers that could come in.

“She's a cutie.” Lotor had not noticed Ezor sit in the seat across the table, the fluffy white cat she had been cooing now sprawled on her lap. That impish smirk looking more like a Cheshire grin with each passing moment.

“Your point being…?”

Ezor rolled her eyes. “Cute girl. You haven't been on a date in months. It's not busy here. Do the math.”

“Your dedication to getting me a girlfriend knows no bounds. I almost admire it.” He tried to put little Rover down so he could drink the coffee, but the little one wouldn't have it. So he sat comfortably on Lotors lap as he drank. “Besides, she working. It's rude to flirt with someone on the job.”

Ezor rolled her eyes. “Fine. Stay a sad lonely boy. See if I care.”

“Thank you.” Lotor smirked as he sipped his coffee once more.

He did not think much of it in the days that followed. After he and Ezor had wasted a couple of hours drinking their coffee and petting cats, they had left. By then Pidge had left the counter for her pig tailed coworker to take over. He felt a pang of disappointment, but let it pass.

However a couple weeks afterward, Lotor dragged his feet through downtown, this time on his own. He had to take care of things at his father's office, and the irritation from the idiots he was forced to work with still grated on his nerves. The gray clouds loomed over head, heavy with rain that would fall at any moment, as if his day has not been crappy enough.

He sighed and leaned against a lamppost for a moment. Calm. He needed to take some time to calm down. Maybe grab something to eat, he had barely had any breakfast and was only now feeling the void in his stomach.

Scanning the street for a place to grab a bite, his eyes saw a familiar pastel awning with a cat shaped sign. Maybe petting a cat and perhaps seeing a cute barista would be what he needed for his foul mood. Without any other thought, he walked over to the cafe just as the rain began to come pouring down.

Upon entering the Chat Latte, he was greeted by the same blond girl in pigtails that had taken Pidges place when they had left. He felt the wash of disappointment once more. A quick peek into the cat room told she wasn't there either. It didn't seem like she was working today.

With nothing else better to do, Lotor ordered and sat in table near the window. After a few minutes a tiny meow was heard by his feet. A familiar kitten looked up at him and meowed again. “Well hello there,” scooping Rover up, he pet the little creature beneath the chin. He purred in approval. “Come to keep me company?”

“Hey, he still likes you.” Someone laughed.

Looking away, Lotor was greeted to the sight of Pidge, who grinned where she stood. Hands buried in the pockets of her jacket that covered her work shirt. “Oh, its you,” Lotor blinked in surprise. “It didn't seem like you were working today.”

“I just finished.” She replied, reaching out to pet Rover. “I didn't expect to see you here again.”

“Oh really? And why is that?”

"You just don't seem like the usual customers that come here. We get kids, and families, and school girls. Not a lot of guys in nice suits.” She grinned.

“I'll have you know I am an avid cat lover. That's why my friend dragged me down here the other day.”

She smirked. "Oh really?"

"Yes really," he pulled out his phone from his pocket and flashed a picture of his cat sprawled out on the couch. "His name is Kova."

"That's the angriest looking cat I've ever seen."

"Yes, he is a grumpy old man. But he's my grumpy old man." Lotor put his phone back in his pocket. "What about you? Have any pets?"

"One dog. "She replied. Then reached over to pet Rover, who was still content in Lotors arms. "Though I think this one is coming home with me very soon."

"He won you over?" He grinned.

"I don't think I have much choice." Pidge laughed. "Besides you he doesn't seem to like anyone else."

"Well of course," he scratched Rover behind the ear. "He has excellent taste after all. Only the finest will do."

Pidge snorted, then blushed and covered her mouth before clearing her throat. "Any tips on raising a kitten?"

Lotor only shrugged. "Not really. I've had my cat for years. It was my mom who did the raising. Though I will say this one seems just as picky as mine."

Pidge dug her hands back into the pockets of her dark green jacket and bit her lip. Eyes looking all over the room like she was thinking something over. "Hey um...If I buy you coffee mind giving me some advice?"

Lotor could not help but grin and gestured to the chair across from him. "Have a seat then, we could be here all day."

i think in season 8 episode 5 when axca was talking with zethred about hate that wasn't going to be axca talking to zethred but lotor or Keith,but i really believe axca got keith's part i think it was going to be Keith talking to axca in varonica's place and later on to zethred and some1 else was going to be kidnapped this episode all so feels like it could have been apart of season 7 , like part 2 for season 7 episode 3 or it could have just been 1 episode with that same episode

I really don’t know who was supposed to do what.

Overall - one of the storyboard revisionists said that Ezor died, which makes sense. That’s why Zethrid wanted revenge on Keith - because he was “the reason” Ezor died. (And it also makes sense that Zethrid would decide to shoot Shiro instead of Keith as Shiro is the closest person to Keith, no matter how the viewer interprets their relationship.)

The “hate” part of the speech, my guess, was added later, when the EPs were told to fix their mess up and needed a reason for Ezor to leave Zethrid. However, then it makes no sense for Zethrid to go after Keith. What does Keith have to do with Ezor’s anger or sudden lack thereof? Nothing.

Others have gone into more detail about Ezor’s character and why she suddenly wouldn’t have a change of heart, but to be honest, I let this scene slide in critique.

The EPs brought back a queer character they had killed, and said character is in a committed, loving relationship. I will always overlook clunky writing for a good reason, and this is one of the best.

My Notes on Season 8 - Part 1 of 2

I'm writing them as I watch the series but they may not be in order completely. My opinions and whilst I know no one cares I'm writing them anyway.

Episode 1:

PIDGE WITH BUNCHES IS THE BEST THING I'VE EVER SEEN

The original Voltron is a TV show based on them?! Love it!

"I don't really sound like that, do I bae bae?"

Hunk is best bro/wingman 11/10 need a Hunk in my life

Okay I guess Allurance is happening. Good for Allurace shippers! I'm happy for you!

"Grounded? I wasn't aware humans could float" Romelle, I honestly love you.

Pidge is 15, nice to get an actual age

She's also grounded omg rip

"Apparently saving my brother and dad doesn't get me a pass!"

"We'll make sure she doesn't leave the ground once"

PIDGE NO, PUT YOUR NORMAL OUTFIT ON

ALSO STOP WITH THAT VOOOOOOICE

Keith and Lance bonding 😍 it's not what I was hoping for but I didn't expect it to be canon, I'll take what I'm given.

Ugghhhh I need more of Lance family dynamic!!!! Fanfic writing time.

Oh no no no, it's a little early in the relationship for "I love you" ugh I always cringe when people say I love you in shows and books when they've only been going out for like a day, no matter the ship.

Episode 2:

Baby/kid Lotor is cute

Seeing how Lotor was raised I can't blame him for being a little... extravagant

OMG HE WAS ACTUALLY WORKING WITH THE PEOPLE ON THAT PLANNET AND IT GOT DESTROYED?! W O W THAT HAS TO HURT.

Episode 3:

Am... am I meant to remember this dude?

Oh? OH! So you're gonna insult Keith for being a half breed hu? And the Blade for accepting him as one of them? Hahahaha I hate you.

"Okay.... or we could just do this *hacks*" PIDGE MY QUEEN YAS

Rotten... food goo? If food goo can go rotten why didn't the food goo go rotten in the castle of Lions after 10 thousand years?

"I don't know what it's going to take to get it through your thick skull, but we are not your enemy" aaaahhhh I see the red paladin in my boy Lance now. I could jam to that all day, YES MY BOY. -right after that guy accused Keith of releasing the monster deliberatly, I know it means nothing but my Laith shipper heart will treasure it for years to come-

That monster hurt cosmo so I'm going to hurt it.

Of course the Galra and the Galra Half-breed are the ones locked in a room with the Galra hating monster. Of course.

Lance's face when Keith -and the other guy but shhhhh- gets locked in, has me in tears. My ship may not sail but I'll cherish these moments.

Also Pidge and Hunk's faces. I stan a paladin space family

"Keith!" "We're coming for ya!" I 👏 STAN 👏 ONE 👏 SPACE FAM 👏

KEITH'S BAYARD BECAME A GUN BLASTER THING OMG I'M SCREAMING

Episode 4:

Omfg Pidge's love of the olcary is so pure

"I'm sorry I yelled at you. I'll make you some doggie treats later."

Seriously though who let bae bae come on this mission? Could she not have stayed with someone on earth? Is it wise to have a dog bouncing around a space ship that can turn into a mech and fights in battles?

"But... I like cooking."

"So... is this interview over?" "N o. Great. Now the talent is getting restless."

"The camera!" "Leave it! We need to go!" "BUT THIS IS GOLD" okay. Okay my love for these two is growing.

W- was that Sal from Vepit Sal's?

"Need to get someone more exciting in here" *cuts to Coran*

Okay so more Allurance, I'm happy for Allurance shippers, bet you guys are thriving!

"No that's private" Kinkade you're so sweet! Too good for this world.

Hunk is such a sunshine child I love him!

Episode 8:

Okay. Allurance is cute. It's growing on me.

"I better go find the arcade and... make sure it's safe" *noom* "uhhh me too" *noom* "me three" *noom*

*elongated sigh* Allura. You fell right into their trap. You still trust Lotor and now I'm feeling iffy about your relationship with Lance again right after it started go grow on me. You aren't over Lotor yet are you?

Pidge is hitting coran as if she's been waiting to do it for a long time... what did he ever do to you Pidge?

"Okay that's a start! Did you get a good look at- it's me isn't it." I WILL NEVER NOT LOVE THIS BOY

🎶"Wadda we say? Clear day clear day clear-"🎶 "I've gotta get out of here" my BOY

"In that case you can get one of these shovels and dig yourself out of the hole you find yourself in." I STAN THIS GIRL CAN SHE BE MY FAVOURITE BACKGROUND CHARACTER?!?!

I call using a mechanical arm in an arm wrestling match cheating but kay. IT'S NOT EVEN ATTACHED TO HIS BODY WTF

Pidge and colleen bargaining on the photo is amazing! Yes.

So... is that chick Matt's girlfriend? Because I will happily add that to my mountain of Matt ships yes yes.

So clearly Allura still likes Lotor but she also likes Lance which is why she's so close to freeing that damned thing (I refuse to say entity becuase it's been said enough) when both of them talk to her.

Keith's having a mental breakdown. I can't blame him, could you imagine being stuck on It's a Small World for hours?

"THAT'S IT" *slices through bar with his Bayard and runs*

Once again, am I meant to remember this guy?

Look it’s no secret that most fans have been disappointed with the latest season. But there were so many good things too!!

• We meet Lances sister. And it’s not brief or anything either we get to know her.

•We see Griffin again and sees he’s matured

•LGBTQ is represented. Ezor and Zethred +Shiro And Adam though it was brief. Maybe it will be touched upon next season!!

•We meet Colleen!! She’s just like Pidge wow.

•Iverson isn’t mean?? Like we were expecting

•Shiro is amazing. Don’t question it.

•ok so can we talk about how Shiro created basically another Voltron??

•Hunks arc is everything.

•Keith’s matured so much.

•That game show episode was so cute (despite certain parts)

• Showing the Paladins aren’t invincible and when I’m outer space broke.

I can go on and on wow. This season has so many ups.

So a Lotta people mad about season 7 and honestly (spoilers)

I get it. The tragic gays dying trope sucks and to be honest I feel like Adam and shiro didn't act like a couple at all (or that Adam had much character to him at all) and that a Lotta people's lqtbq ships are being traded for straight stuff instead. Understandable. However, I do not feel like s7 of voltron was at all bad, in fact I found it very good. I loved that they gave hunk(finally) some time and he really was amazing during the entire season. We got a lot more growth for him and I couldn't be happier. Lance and Keith also got some good parts, with lance showing his gun and leadership skills, and Keith showing how he's more mature but still has a lot to learn. I also loved Keith's interactions with his mother it was really sweet, though a bit short, and I'd love to see more. and pidge honestly is perfect as always I love my baby 💖💖💖 and I could go on about how delightful it was for me to see more development for Romelle as a character, she's so cute And curious and just wants a chance to shine! Also I found it interesting how the language difference between old and new alteans is!

Anyways my point is there was a lot of good in season seven and honestly I could squee more about the implications of zethred and ezor, or how cute lances sister is, and even the new pilots for the new ships along with atlas as a mecha....which is weird but uh whatever I guess? I mean I kinda get where their going with this but :/

AND DONT GET ME STARTED ON THAT ENDING GOD-

.......my point is season 7 is probably one of the best seasons with its character and world growth along with an exciting future....as always nothing is without flaws but I would like to think voltron will improve and try to move forward in the right direction....

Though I swear if they don't give us more gay characters imma cry. At least give shiro another love interest please???? Maybe a boyfriend???
