New work! Back on my CQL/Untamed bullshit, finally continuing my series where JC brought WWX and JYL back from the dead Orpheus-style (but successfully). The fourth in the series.

I hate The Untamed I hate The Untamed I hate the Untamed
AAAHHHHH
Never have I cried so much while binge watching a show and I hate crying so that’s a major reason. Also all the actors in played their roles so well and were literally MEANT for them.
The final episode made me ugly cry twice with Jiang Cheng’s scene and when Wei Wuxian found out about Sizhui being A-Yuan, that shit hit me hard (I mean I knew about it but I feel like already knowing what’s gonna happen is worse than NOT knowing)
I was a bit hesitant to watch it since most live action adaptations of novels aren’t that good, but because I was in an MXTX rabbit hole I gave it a chance and boy am I glad
Ain’t done with it yet since I have the two movies left, and I need to prepare some tissues

Propaganda
Brigitte Bardot (Contempt, And God Created Woman)—unbelievable charisma off the charts, post-war France could barely handle her because she just radiates sexuality in the deepest, hottest way. i've never seen a woman who fit so clearly in my head the "beautiful woman" category. also i'm including her little suit number because why not [pic below]
Vanessa Redgrave (Camelot)—Partially submitted as justice for her father, and you should all know her birth was announced to a theatre audience by Laurence Olivier. But for herself, she is a wild untameable beauty who was in some of the best avant garde cinema of the period.
This is round 2 of the tournament. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage woman.
[additional propaganda submitted under the cut.]
Brigitte Bardot:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Los Angeles Times in 2011 ranked her as the second most beautiful woman in film, she won a David di Donatello award and was nominated for a BAFTA. Literally nicknamed a sex kitten, she used her fame to promote animal rights. And God Created Woman was so scandalous to US audiences that some theater managers were arrested for screening it"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"She was a sex symbol and her style is influential even today"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"She's just so iconic! Wikipedia extracts because why not : "In 2011, Los Angeles Times Magazine's list of "50 Most Beautiful Women in Film" ranked her number two" "The Guardian named Bardot "one of the most iconic faces, models, and actors of the 1950s and 1960s" "According to the liner notes of his first (self-titled) album, musician Bob Dylan dedicated the first song he ever wrote to Bardot. " I mean of course she is iconic in France, but she inspired many women outside of France"
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"She wasn't just a sex symbol because men found her attractive and then that imagine of her was further promoted. But she was actually one of (if not) the first women to stand for emancipated women in a sexual way in a time when women were considered to mainly exist to please their man. She was famous for portraying women who lived their sexuality for their own pleasure and knew what they wanted. Very important! And also what's hotter than a woman driving men wild because they don't even know how to handle a woman with her own ideas and needs lol"

Luo Yunxi Appreciation Master Post: How can someone be so multi-talented?!
In case you did not already know, here are LYX's many talents. It's insane how many different things he can do at a near-professional level beyond acting!
1. Dance/Ballet
LYX graduated from the Shanghai Theatre Academy majoring in ballet with over 11 years of professional experience.
Tumblr media
This is him doing 13+ pirouettes in a performance of Tchaikovsky Rhapsody (full video, he's on the right)
Interpret dance solo (燃烧的火苗) where he won the first gold ever for STA (video, news)
Swan Lake solo at the Taoli Cup Dance Competition in high school (video)
Modern dancing solo (黑白影画) at his graduation performance (video, he's the only guy in white)
Tumblr media
He also taught at the Macao Conservatory for a year and danced in front of national leaders in Flying to the Moon (奔月) at the Macao 10th Handover Anniversary (video)
Tumblr media
He's super flexible and has a strong core (despite being naturally thin)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In response to request from fans, he performed the Black Moonlight dance in a now viral video on Douyin.
Tumblr media
2. Wuxia / Posture
LYX is known as one of the best actors working today for wire work - you can see him here doing 3 consecutive jumps 2-3 stories above ground (compilation videos 1, 2)
Tumblr media
He does a lot of his own stunts and is often better (i.e. more graceful) than his stunt double, even though it's really risky and he's sustained some serious injuries from being dropped accidentally (And the Winner is Love: B roll video, actual scene, other BTS, other fight scenes)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He moves with elegance, not just in action sequences (Ashes of Love fight compilation 1, 2), but people have made video compilations of how he walks, kneels, works his sleeves and train
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course, it's thanks to his dance foundation, but he also puts a lot of hard work into stunt training. Not something a lot of actors do because it eats up time to make more TV or go on variety shows (Ashes of Love stunt training, BTS)
Tumblr media
3. Diving
He played a diver once in Flip in Summer (夏日心跳) and actually learned to dive... I mean he's no Tom Daley but this looks pretty good for an amateur... (full video)
Tumblr media
4. Voice Acting
He’s always dubbed himself since circa 2018 (with the exception of And the Winner is Love due to Covid logistics issues), which is not the norm in Chinese drama (Ashes of Love dubbing BTS). In fact, he is sometimes the only person in the cast to use his original voice (e.g. in Princess Silver)
Tumblr media
He also lends his voice to animations - he was the voice of Viktor in Arcane (BTS video), which received positive feedback (most people didn't realize he was not a professional voice actor)
Tumblr media
He appears as a judge and live dubbing performer in Voice Monster alongside the top voice actors in China, Bian Jiang (aka voice of Yehua in Eternal Love, Nan Wangj in the Untamed) and Zhang Jie (aka voice of Donghua in Eternal Love, Sifeng in Love & Redemption). He has so much respect to those working behind the scenes, and it really shows (full video)
5. Singing
Some of you may know that he started out in a boy band called JL with Fu Longfei - these videos didn't age well, but here you go: JL (MV), 我们 (MV)
Tumblr media
He has released a number of solo singles, including 缘起 (MV), 星星之火 (live), 不是我 (MV), 等风停 (MV). and 勇 (soundtrack), which he composed and wrote the lyrics himself (these are all mando-pop ballads if that's your jam)
He performed Big Fish 大鱼 at Tmall's 11/11 Festival (live video) - while his rendition is not as powerful as the original, he can hit really high notes with an impressive falsetto - I think it goes up to G5 (one octave above middle C)
He performed Pipa Xing (琵琶行) at the Douyin Festival (live video) - the notable part is his Peking Opera style singing at the end
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He occasionally releases covers of songs on Chinese karaoke app Changba or Douyin: 要不然我们就这样一万年 (youtube), 黑月光 (youtube), 不染 (youtube), 山水又一程 (youtube)
He can also sing in other languages, including 喜欢你 in Cantonese (recording) - it's actually a very good cover and his Cantonese pronunciation is >95% accurate - there are parts where you can't tell he's not a native speaker.
6. Musical Instruments
He's an accomplished classically-trained pianist, which you can see in...
JL MV (video, starting around 3:30 mark) - don't mind the makeup, it's from ages ago
Mr Mossie season 2 (video)
Love is Sweet (BTS video) - impromptu jazz, he was deciding which song to play
Fan thank you recording (video)
Tumblr media
He also plays the guitar, though probably at an amateur level
7. Music Gaming
During college he was obsessed with this music game called O2Jam (劲乐团) to the point where he created new tracks (i.e. arrange/compose the music) for the company under the username Dinoroy (explained by himself here, videos of him playing).
Tumblr media
He became well-known within the fan community as the legendary D神 (D God). There are a lot of funny comments from old players saying that they thought D God is a bitter middle-aged recluse trying to screw them over with difficult tracks (read comments here).
D God was so prolific and reliable that gaming company accepted his submissions without review. Here are some of his best tracks - game arrangement only (Lydia, Croatian Rhapsody, Digital Emotions), music & game arrangement (黑暗魅影), original composition (光之乐章)
8. League of Legends
He's an LOL super fan, commentator, and player since season 2, went to see worlds in person twice, and was a cast member in a gaming show called Beyond It! Hero (episodes here)
He played the 2018 All-Star Event in Las Vegas teaming with reigning world champion Rookie and delivered the final blow that beat the other team 2:1 (video)
Tumblr media
He got a quadra kill at a celebrity mobile game even though his team was crap (video clip)
He co-invested 1M RMB in a team led by Misaya 若风 - you can see them playing together in a live broadcast of the mobile game (video)
Tumblr media
Update: Our longtime fan boy has become spokesperson of League of Legends and official commentator at the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou! The love is reciprocated!
9. Calligraphy/Drawing/Culture
LYX is known for his Chinese handwriting (he practices regularly) - there's even a font based on his handwriting called 汉仪罗云熙体 (download here)
He does all his own handwriting for marketing materials (e.g. Immortality below) and doesn't need a hand double for scenes where his character is practicing ancient Chinese calligraphy
Tumblr media
He's also got amazing drawing skills - check out the Queen of the Night 昙花 he drew as Runyu while waiting around on set in between takes (video)
Tumblr media
While he doesn't go on a lot of variety shows, he's often a guest on cultural programs, like the beauty of Chinese Calligraphy 书法之美 (video), Chinese Fans in 指尖上的非遗 (video)
His self-produced Mr. Mossie covers a lot of cultural topics (seasons 1, 2, 3), the segment on Hanfu was featured in the UNESCO Chinese Language Video Festival (video)
10. Photography
Luo Yunxi is often seen taking photos on set with his top-of-the-line Leica camera. Here are some of the photos he has shared:

Surprise
Uh, good evening... I am kinda tired of writing smut, so tired that I like, left, for a month... Anywho, here is some fluff. Also I’m writing this in such a funny order. Most of my Henry Cavill stories are like part of one universe, and like the last I wrote of them they just found out about the pregnancy. At some point I will write of the birth and what not. Also, the child’s name doesn’t have to be Sophia, If you want it to be something else just ignore the name I guess. Request are open :)
Paring: Husband!Henry Cavill x Wife!Reader.
Warnings: Fluff, use of she/her pronouns. No description of body type, race ect.
Summary: You and the interviewer make plans to surprise Henry while on his busy press tour.
640 words, unedited
Tumblr media
Press is part of an actor, it is a part of being a celebrity. Many enjoy it, it lets them travel the world to all types of fun place. And yes, Henry does enjoy it. What he also enjoys is staying, in bed, with his beautiful wife, all while his little daughter worms her way under the sheets. She would giggle and laugh as the both of her parents would tickle her wildly.
Henry is quite active on talking about them whenever he has the possibility. “What has been the most difficult thing, for you, during all this press?” Ali, the interviewer asks, already knowing the answer but just wanting to hear him ramble. The bigger man chuckles, his cute canines glimmering.
“I feel that answer is too obvious, my family of course.” He smiles, just thinking about the two of you. Little did he know, you and Ali have been talking, making plans behind the scenes. It’s finally school vacation after all. “Yes, I heard your little girl just turned four, congratulations.” He smiles to him, peaking at his notes to every next move.
“Yes, I can’t believe it. She is such a vibrant little girl. And I’ve always wanted a family and to share that with someone as amazing as Y/N, I don’t think someone could be more spoiled than I am.” He chatters on, to be honest, if someone let him, he could talk on and on and on.
“Kal’s even been missing them too, I can tell,” he chuckles, petting the pupper’s head sitting by him. “I’m sorry, I’m rambling,” he blushes ever so slightly, realising he’s done it once more. Even his brother’s had started to tease him on his babbling.
Ali, shakes his head, “No, no, I wanted to talk about Y/N actually because when have something that might help with your longing.” The man with glasses turns over his shoulder, Henry’s eyes follow to the door which he entered from. Expecting for some silly puppet or toy that might have some resemblance of them.
But no, his heart hammers in his ears and his eyes light up when he sees you, with your daughter enter through the door. “Daddy!” Their little girl calls out, running full speed to her father, not caring for any wires or expensive cameras. “Sophia, hello my little angel,” He smiles wide, getting up from his seat to pick up his little girl.
She giggles wildly when Henry showers her with kisses. Not to mention, Kal, even if well trained, jumps up with excitement too. Smelling and licking her cute little booties. Her untamed black curls tied up in cute purple bows. Exactly like her dad’s.
And when you reach him, he can’t help but pull you closer by the waist. Wanting so to kiss you passionately, but deciding against it, for everyone else’s sake. “Hello, my dear,” he whispers in your ear. Settling for sweet kiss on the cheek. Kal already twirling circles around you.
A seat already pulled up for you, next to Henry, you both sit down. Sophia comfortably sat in her father’s lap. Her little mind occupied by the shiny ring on Henry’s finger. He’s notice it to be a habit of hers. “What are you doing here?” He asks, taking your hand in his, the one not keeping Sophia in place.
You give that bright smile of yours, the one he loves so much. The one that still causes him butterflies to this day. You smirk to Ali and give a shrug, “We planned to surprise you,” you say, tucking a stray curl behind Henry’s ear. “By God, I love you,” he mutters under his breath.
His schedule was cleared for the rest of the day and he treated you both to your favourite allergy friendly ice-cream and anything else you could possibly want.

10 CDramas I Enjoyed Enough To Recommend!
1. Nirvana in Fire (2015) — 5/5 ⭐️ 54 Episodes. This is genuinely as good as its reputation. It is a political palace drama and it is insanely compelling. My mom agrees that this is good. You can watch it on YouTube, but I recommend watching on Viki (which you can sign up with for free) bc cdramas on YT can have weird issues with audio + I’m pretty sure the versions available on YT are heavily edited to cut out Zhang Zhehan.
2. The Untamed (2019) — 4/5 ⭐️ 50 Episodes 🏳️‍🌈 Owns me. Censored BL low-xianxia setting. None of my family believe me about how good it is because they keep seeing out of context episodes and scenes. The Untamed is something you have to just sit through. It is a boiling frog situation. Beats out #3 despite being of lower quality (look. Those special effects…) because this is my best friend my silly rabbit my blorbo my love. My stinky cheese, even. Netflix, YouTube, and Viki.
3. A Journey to Love (2023) — 4.5/5 ⭐️ 40 Episodes. A mixture of court drama, wuxia adventure, and romance. So so so many dramas WANT to be this show, to balance court politics and wuxia shenanigans and epic romance but, frankly, only AJTL manages to perfectly balance all of its genres, plots, and characters. I cried watching the end. I watched this on YouTube, but it’s also on iQIYI.
4. Love Between Fairy And Devil (2022) — 4/5 ⭐️ 36 Episodes. Xianxia romance. Despite outward appearances of trite banality and overdone tropes, this show is gorgeous, insanely compelling, and will sit with you. My mom calls this “the fairy show :D”. Suffers in pacing towards the end, but sticks the landing. Netflix, Viki, iQIYI.
5. Word of Honor (2021) — 4/5 ⭐️ 36 Episodes 🏳️‍🌈 Wuxia adventure censored BL. Lead actor Zhang Zhehan is… a bit of a touchy subject, but I still consider this one of the best cdramas I’ve watched and I do still recommend it. Like LBFAD, pacing suffers in last quarter, but sticks the landing. Netflix, YouTube, Viki.
6. Lost You Forever S1 (2023) — 4/5 ⭐️ 39 Episodes. Xianxia reverse harem romance. Now that description may not sound compelling. But. Idk how to tell you this but I’m insane about this drama. Is it ~good~? I honestly can’t say. I’m insane about it. S2 is probably gonna be a flop and kill my love for it but for now? We’re riding high, baby!! YouTube, Viki, probably iQIYI.
7. The Rise of Phoenixes (2018) — 4/5 ⭐️ 70 Episodes. Court drama/romance. Actually you know what I DON’T recommend this. But like I DO need people to watch it so I have people to talk to about it with 🥺 Watching this is an exercise in masochism. It is gorgeous. It is insanely compelling. Watch like. The first 50 episodes because pretty much the rest of it is just [muffled screams]. Apparently it’s coming soon to Viki which is good bc it’s not on Netflix anymore 🙃
8. Couple of Mirrors (2021) — 3.5/5 ⭐️ 12 Episodes 🏳️‍🌈 1930s Shanghai censored GL romance. Hardly the highest quality, but it’s really fun, and you know what. Does a thing have to be good, historically coherent, and have two full seasons? Is it not enough for a show to be about lesbians??? Who are wanted for murders they may or may not have committed??? YouTube and Viki.
9. New Life Begins (2022) — 3.5/5 ⭐️ 40 Episodes. Fluffy court romance. Is this actually good idek I haven’t re-watched at all. What it is is a solid, serviceable, fluffy little het court romance with Feminism 101 undergirding it all. I liked it perfectly fine. There are many kinds of women and they should all be happy and free to pursue their passions!! Women who are friends!! And you know what? So true, cute little cdrama. So true. YouTube, Viki, iQIYI.
10. The Starry Love (2023) — 3/5 ⭐️ 40 Episodes. Xianxia romance. For the most part, a lighthearted comedic romance drama. It’s cute. It’s fun. It is sometimes comically low-quality, but it’s mostly charming and I like the visuals in general. The main pairing, while fun, doesn’t interest me as much as the secondary pairing or the friendship/sisterhood aspects of it. YMMV with this one. Viki and YouTube.
Honorable mention— The Blood of Youth (2022) Probably better overall than at least a few of these entries, but I’m just still so sad abt my favorite character dying :( Could be gayer.

Looking back on my first year as a c-drama fan!
This year I fell - first down a flight of stairs - and then (because I couldn't walk properly for a few weeks) down a rabbit hole of cdramas!
In total, I have watched 28 dramas since May. I actually finished 17 of them. I re-watched 8 of them at least once. My most rewatched show is Till The End Of The Moon, followed by Love Is Sweet and The Untamed!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shows I loved
Till The End of The Moon: This drama triggered my hyperfixation, and I still love it so much. Tantai Jin became my new obsession.
Love is Sweet: This one surprised me because I don't usually care for romantic dramas. It made me more open to different genres.
The Untamed: I watched this for the first time in 2019, and now I can appreciate it even more.
The Sleuth of Ming Dynasties: It took me several tries to get into the drama because the political setting was too complicated. I'm glad I didn't give up. Wang Zhi became one of my favorites!
New Life Begins: I was just looking for something light in between and was quite surprised how much I liked the show.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Things I learned as a newbie:
Cdramas are an acquired taste. Sometimes it's worth going back to a drama that you initially gave up on.
To avoid spoilers, it's best to skip the intro and especially the outro.
I love my characters unhinged.
Apparently it is okay to share leaks from filming.
Never believe anything that comes from yxh accounts.
Shippers are toxic in any fandom.
C-drama fans are a bit older than K-pop fans, but they can be just as unhinged and have trouble distinguishing between how to treat actors and the fictional characters they play.
My ADHD is better regulated when I watch shows in a foreign language while reading the subtitles. I don't get bored watching TV, which is rare!
Shows I dropped, and what I learned from it:
Hidden Love: I still don't like romances that have no significant plot beyond the relationship. Especially if I don't care about the characters at all.
Back from the Brink: Sometimes dramas that start well become an unwatchable, rage-inducing mess halfway through, and it's not worth sticking it out to the end.
Beauty of Resilience: I'm a character-driven audience. If the characters aren't compelling and the story isn't interesting, I don't care about the show.
Ashes of Love: I hate childish FL with baby voices and naive personalities. I need better written female characters. I'm on my 3rd attempt to watch this show and I only have a handful of episodes left, so I'll actually make it to the end (eventually).
I've dropped a lot more shows and actually watched some to the end that I didn't like very much in the end, but those are the ones I learned the most from.
Tumblr media
What will stay with me:
Tantai Jin: I'm still obsessed with this character. He is everything I need in a fictional character.
Luo Yunxi: This will come as no surprise to anyone who follows me, but my obsession with TTJ soon extended to Luo Yunxi.
Bai Lu & Sun Zhenni: While I appreciate both of them as actors, it's their fun and uninhibited personalities that made me fall in love with them!!
Costumes: I adore the detailed costumes and hanfu styles, and do prefer costume dramas to modern ones.
Food & drinks: I'm now looking into more Chinese foot now and how to cook vegetables in more interesting ways. I also bought "moon cake stamps"... so wish me luck!
New online acquaintances: I have made some new friends online who I can fangirl with to my heart's content!
What I'm looking forward to in 2024:
I'm really looking forward to Luo Yunxi's upcoming dramas, Follow You Heart, Shui Long Yin and Immortality (🤡). I'm also looking forward to Sun Zhenni's first leading role!
There are still many dramas I want to watch, but haven't found the time for. Like A Journey to Love, Goodbye, My Princess, Nirvana in Fire, Then Miles of Peach Blossoms and The Blood of Youth.
I'm not sure what else I'll post here next year. Probably more reviews and content related to my favourite actors. Let's see if something triggers my hyperfixation soon!
Happy New Year!

So a couple years ago, I fell into watching Chinese dramas and because my posts about the most recent one garnered some curiosity, here are the dramas what I have watched.
Hikaru no Go
Tumblr media
DID YOU KNOW. DID YOU KNOW. THAT IN 2020 THERE WAS A CHINESE DRAMA ADAPTATION OF HIKARU NO GO AND IT IS AMAZING AND MADE ME CRY ALL OVER AGAIN? It is faithful in spirit while making understandable alterations both for the setting and to avoid managing child actors for the entirety of the series (there are about six episodes with Hikaru/Shi Guang as an elementary school student before a time jump to high school).
If you are unfamiliar with Hikaru no Go I recommend becoming familiar with Hikaru no Go, my first and still one of the best sports manga. It's what Takeshi Obata was the artist on before Death Note and my hot take is that Obata post-Hikaru no Go is mid at best.
Hikaru no Go is a sports series about the most normal boy finding an antique go board that houses the soul of an ancient go master who died too young and with go regrets, so he bullies/guilts the boy into helping him play go so he can see or play a divine go move. In the process he acquires a rival/stalker in the form of the genius son of a go master. It's amazing and the drama absolutely does it justice.
The heart of the series is the relationship between Hikaru/Shi Huang and Fujiwara no Sai/Chu Ying.
It's just a fucking good series.
The Untamed
Tumblr media
According to one description on imdb, this is about two friends solving a series of murders. This is technically true, although it neglects to mention a few details.
Sixteen years after doing a whole lot of demonic blood magic shit and dying because of it, hated by society, Wei Wuxian (Xiao Zhan) is brought back from the dead by more super demonic blood magic and is recognized by his noble and esteemed peer/friend Lan Wangji (Wang Yibo) and trying to deal with why Wei Wuxian has been brought back from the dead leads to their investigating a series of murders that result in their becoming entangled in wider political schemes stretching back twenty years.
It's got weird pacing, prolonged flashbacks to explain a lot of the relationship dynamics, and basically an entirely self-contained sub-story that brings the main plot to a grinding halt. There are creatures and CGI effects of interesting quality. There are amazing wigs. There are piles of corpses. There's physical torture and emotional torture and some doomed love stuff and sword fights and musical instrument fights and a donkey and chicken theft and brotherhood and what you're willing to sacrifice for your goals and what goals you're willing to sacrifice for and it is based on a novel that ends in the protagonists raw dogging on the side of the road.
That part's not in the show.
Douluo Continent
Tumblr media
Ignorant country boy Tang San (Xiao Zhan) finds himself involved in the world of martial arts and magic after discovering a hidden talent and ends up in the group of fellow martial artists who are all weird or unorthodox or hiding crucial bits of their backstory like girl who is actually a rabbit and immediately decides Tang San is her best friend/husband (Wu Xianyi), guy who needs to become powerful enough to kill his older brother (Gao Taiyu), girl who rejected an engagement to the would-be brother killer and wants to fight him (Liu Mei Tong), guy who wants to ditch martial arts to become a great actor (Liu Run Nan), and girl who is too rich to be here (Ding Xiaoying). They learn together, they grow together, they fight monsters and embark on a tournament arc, and there's an overarching mystery about Tang San and his weak but simultaneously super powerful spirit summoning.
Even though the best technique is clearly the one where the boy in question can summon a sausage that you eat and heals you.
It's very much of a specific genre that can be pretty samey, but Douluo Continent has a charming cast that makes up for its predictable plot beats.
It does end on a cliffhanger that is possibly resolved in the sequel series where ... all the main characters were recast with, I'm guessing, slightly less pricey actors. Such is the way of things.
Word of Honour
Tumblr media
Do you like knowing what's going on? Then get the fuck out of here, Word of Honour is not for you. Real ones want to be immediately submerged into chaos and confusion and secret identities. You want Mr Bones' Wild Ride in plot form. Why has former superassassin Zhou Zishu (Zhang Zhe Han) abandoned the sect of assassins he created to live in wandering drunk anonymity as he slowly dies? Why is Wen Kexing (Gong Jun) stalking him aside from poorly censored horny desires? Is Wen Kexing actually a ghost? Can any of the impressionable youths attaching themselves to Zhou Zishu and Wen Kexing be stopped from their very poor choices in role models? What is up with this legendary hidden armoury and why do Zhou Zishu and Wen Kexing seem unable to escape the conspiracy around it? HOW HARD IS IT TO GET WOLONG'S FAMOUS NUTS?
Not recommended for people who constantly want to know what's happening or why X is doing Y, but great if you want to watch with someone and then after an episode, walk your dogs and try to figure out what's going on and what's going to happen (you will be wrong).
Advance Bravely
Tumblr media
What if the most ridiculously unrealistic and unhinged slashfic by a teenage girl who doesn't fully understand anything was adapted into a drama series where censorship means everything must be painted with a special "no homo" brush? You get Advance Bravely which is the most incoherently homoerotic thing I've ever watched. No one thinks you should watch Advance Bravely and you watch Advance Bravely and you agree but sometimes you just have to watch a beautiful trainwreck where the protagonist explains his lack of a girlfriend with erectile dysfunction and the series climax involves his being, essentially, trapped in a well.
Love Between Fairy and Devil
Tumblr media
DO YOU WANT TO GO FULL SHOUJO MANGA FANTASY?
Innocent fairy Orchid (Yu Shuxin) just wants to strengthen her immortal spirit and pass the exam that would let her serve in the palace of the fairy capital so she can catch glimpses of the War God Chang Heng (Zhang Ling He) who she is hopelessly in love with. Instead, an attempt to help her crush causes her to bumble her way into the high security spiritual prison that has held Dongfang Qingcang, the Moon Supreme (Dylan Wang), for 30,000 years.
DO YOU LIKE BIG NUMBERS BECAUSE YOU WILL GET TO SEE SOME BIG NUMBERS IN TERMS OF TIME SPAN AND AGES.
Because of some plot magic, Orchid and the Moon Supreme swap bodies and loophole out of prison, much to her distress. Their fates are tied together and Orchid becomes more familiar with the wider world and the politics between the realms and how much the fairy realm's supreme ruler fucking suuuuuuuuuuuucks while Moon Supreme finds himself having feelings again after they were tortured out of him in a mystical coffin prison as a child.
Moon Supreme's closest friend is a dragon. Orchid's closest friend is an opportunistic snakeoil saleswoman. There's a pissy younger brother and a bitchy but honourable love rival. There are secret origins and reincarnation and hidden identities and the way it alternates broad comedy and melodrama and sweet romance may give you whiplash.
I just love a bodyswap, you guys.
Sailor Moon vibes but Mamoru is actually interesting and becomes likeable.
Guardian
Tumblr media
Okay so the best thing about Guardian is not only that it's a censored adaptation of a novel with a same-sex romance, but that /the entire premise/ is altered for television purposes.
The novel is steeped in Chinese folk religion and the Underworld is real and mythical creatures secretly walk among us.
In the show?
ALIENS, BABY.
Ghosts? THOSE AREN'T REAL BECAUSE HUMANS DON'T HAVE SOULS, THEY'RE JUST ENERGY BEINGS.
It's so ridiculous it's endearing.
Anyway, it's about bros solving mysteries with a Monster of the Week vibe until it becomes about possibly the end of the world and alien domination and evil twins.

IT'S TIME TO SOLVE CRIMES. IN ANCIENT CHINA.
Quack doctor Li Lianhua (Cheng Yi) is just trying to live a quiet life with his dog and his horse-drawn house. Fang Duobing (Joseph Zeng) just wants to gain admittance into the martial art cop organization that's carrying on the legacy of his dead teacher, Li Xiangyi, who was maybe never actually his teacher and also wasn't killed ten years previously by Di Fei Sheng (Xiao Shunyao), the head of an evil martial arts sect who is also not dead. Not nearly as many people as people think are dead! Identities are cleverly hidden behind pseudonyms and various levels of mask!
Crimes are solved and Li Lianhua is very tired about the whole thing. It's an unwilling buddy cop sort of thing until it becomes about youthful hubris and the sins of the past and also one woman's determination to conquer the world and give it to the man she loves, even if he doesn't want the world and also doesn't love her. We love a woman who takes what she wants and if necessary cuts a man's tendons and imprisons him in a torture pool so his blood can't clot until he agrees to be her wife, don't we, folks?
Folks?
Story of Kunning Palace
Tumblr media
The scheming empress Jiang Xue Ning (Bai Lu) dies and wakes up, eighteen-years-old, at the point in her life where she's on the verge of making the start of the decisions that lead her to the Very Bad End. She is going to make different decisions this time and prevent the things she regrets and avoid becoming the empress at all costs.
What you need to know about Story of Kunning Palace is that Bai Lu could have chemistry with a rock and she inadvertently collects a bisexual harem. Her end game love interest is Xie Wei (Zhang Ling He), the man who killed her, an advisor to the emperor, music teacher, double or triple agent, and sufferer of vampire snow madness and a fear of cats, whether adorably fluffy or badly CGI'd. But she's in love with noble civil servant Zhang Zhe (Wang Xing Yue), a pure and hardworking man who she seduced into betraying his principles, leading to his imprisonment and probable death. However, her childhood friend Yan Lin (Zhou Jun Wei) is in love with her and previously she rejected him VERY HARSHLY after his family fell into disfavour due to political machinations and Jiang Xue Ning had cemented the likelihood of her marriage to the next emperor. Also there's Princess Le Yang (Liu Xie Ning), who Jiang Xue Ning made an enemy of after the Princess fell in love with her when Jiang Xue Ning was crossdressing and did not take the reveal of her true gender well. Xue Shu (Elisa Ye) is an unfavoured daughter of a scheming lord who was the only truly loyal person Jiang Xue Ning knew as empress. ALL OF THESE PEOPLE FALL IN LOVE WITH JIANG XUE NING and you look at Bai Lu and go 'yes, that makes sense'.
It's mostly about the politics and scheming and Jiang Xue Ning trying to find a way to have a stable, satisfying life without betraying everyone she knows and standing on a pile of corpses, but the love shape Jiang Xue Ning isn't fully aware she's in is comparable in complexity to the plots between ministers and lords and dowager empresses and cousins and rebels.
The choices the characters make are maybe not always the best choices, but DAMN are they a good time.
Story of Kunning Palace is also one of the only times I have begged a character in a show to take a particular action and then she DID IT and fuck it was satisfying.

IT'S TIME TO SOLVE CRIMES. IN ANCIENT CHINA. AGAIN. BUT WITHOUT MARTIAL ARTS.
Tang Fan (Darren Chen) is a low-ranking government official and detective genius who loves food and hates routine work, but loves a fucked up crime. Since he spends most of his money on delicious food, he writes trashy porn under a variety of pseudonyms to pay his rent. Sui Zhou (Fu Meng Bo) is an imperial guard and ex-soldier with PTSD who has no time for nonsense but loves the passionate pursuit of justice and food. He's also From Money and has a very empty house that Tang Fan whines his way into after they solve a case together. Everyone is manipulated by dangerously powerful eunuch Wang Zhi (Liu Yao Yuan) who is the enemy of basically everyone, except for Tang Fan, who has the political and social awareness of a rock.
An amiably pathetic man solves a variety of mysteries, from murder to complex imperial assassination plots and also this really complicated one involving diluting the purity of silver currency, and also the executive producer is Jackie Chan.
It's missing the romance subplot that I understand is in the source novel and also apparently there's an overarching plot involving a cult?! which we don't get here, but there's lots of bombs which are almost as good as a cult, maybe? (They're not.)
Divine Destiny
Tumblr media
This is the one we're currently watching and the ride that this show is. How many plots can be crammed into one show? How many ridiculous but true things can I say about this show?
Ji Ruochen (Ma Tianyu) is an orphan who dreams of martial arts adventures. Raised by a couple who run a Crime Inn, one day a customer robbery goes very wrong when the customer turns out to be the latest incarnation of Yin Feng, the Banished God (Marius Wang). Ji Ruochen accidentally kills the Banished God and his foster parents promptly take the body into the desert and dump it down a cliff, but not before taking a necklace made from a piece of Gu Qing, the Blue Stone Goddess (Xuan Lu), which is supposed to let her recognize the Banished God in their final incarnation. Accidentally stealing the Banished God's identity, Ji Ruochen finds himself a hotly desired commodity by the cultivation sects who are all eager to have the Banished God as a disciple for prophecy reasons. He goes with Zhang Yinyin (Angelababy), a feisty, argumentative girl who has had to work extra hard because her spirit was contaminated by a demonic root planted by the evil nine-tailed fox who is poorly imprisoned in a cave anyone can access.
MEANWHILE some dudes with amazing moustaches and a penchant for laughing in delight at their own evil have found the body of the Banished God and done some questionable mystical shit to put him in a new body and nurture a grudge against Ji Ruochen for stealing his identity.
THEN Gu Qing meets Ji Ruochen and like everyone else assumes he's the Banished God and she falls in love with him (Gu Qing having been a literal rock spirit who cultivated to immortality under the guidance of the Banished God, who followed her into the mortal realm and a cycle of 100 incarnations after Gu Qing accidentally Did A Crime) but then falls in love with HIM.
ALSO Zhang Yinyin is always at risk of succumbing to the temptation of using the demonic fox power that is within her even though that will literally turn her into a demon but maybe it's worth it if a woman who is actually a goddess who is actually a rock is making eyes at the junior you brought into the sect and are in love with and you want to be more powerful than her?
ALSO what's the mysterious power that let Ji Ruochen kill the Banished God in the first place?
IS the woman seeking revenge for the death of the Banished God's mortal incarnation his sister or his cousin or his "cousin"?
WHY is the only love language of immortals stalking?
There's a homunculus and a baby snake demon who is the most precious angel in the world and so many evil dudes delighted in how evil they are and TWO GOOD AND ALIVE PARENTS and a pair of comical monks who have a special attack with a name they have to shout out every time they use it.
Oh and the imprisoned fox demon may have an ex who just hangs out on a rock in something called the Endless Ocean wearing a mask and playing go against the homunculus he made.
And there's an ancient master who lives in an ice mountain and eats memories of love.
Also some people might be secret demons.
There's some weddings.
There's a tiny woman with an ice sword who brutally murders so many dudes.
Do you like CGI birds?
Do you like giant mechanical CGI birds that are for riding purposes?
There's a desert hermit who has a son who is a giant tortoise.
So many things are going on and terrible decisions are constantly being made and it's over a week before I can watch another episode and it's driving me mad. WHAT WILL BE THE FALLOUT OF THE MOST RECENT BAD DECISIONS?

Note
I'm pretty sure changing the timeskip from 13 to 16 was mostly so they could avoid having to cast actual child actors for the juniors. If a character is supposed to be 16 you can get away with baby faced twenty year olds, but if they're supposed to be 13 you do have to cast an Actual Child or else it looks weird.
Oh yeah, almost certainly! The actors playing the juniors do a good job acting like doofy teens, but when I watched Word of Honor with the actually-played-by-a-child Zhang Chengling, it was reeeeally apparent how different the back half of The Untamed would've looked with younger teen actors. (This carries over to A-Yuan too; a 5-year-old is WAY easier to work with than a toddler while still being suitably tiny and adorable.)

red-carpet
words: 3,007 ship: austin butler x reader summary: (anon request): reader is at a red carpet event & is seated with austin at a table during an award show, where they instantly hit it off. just cute, awkward, Y/N obviously had a crush on him before this, fluff type vibe. notes: masterlist on my sidebar, thank you for all the requests everyone :) let me know if you’d like to be added to a general taglist warnings: none tag list: @killerqueenfan, @karamelcoveredolicity, @elizabethrosecresswell,
You’re actually the date of someone else, that’s how you end up at this red-carpet event. You’re grateful of course but sometimes it feels like your life has been put into a blender and placed on the highest chop cycle. One moment your biggest dilemma is whether to buy orange or apple juice at the store and then it’s ‘what dress will even look remotely classy to go to a red-carpet event in Hollywood’ at the very last minute. It’s Will’s fault, one of your life-long friends, and well you suppose you can’t blame him too much. You know this whole ‘fame’ thing is pretty new to him too and he’s carting you along for the ride, which is appreciated? But at the same time, you don’t think you want to spend your night at an event like this—all eyes on you, trying to figure out who you are, why you’re there, who you’re wearing.
Little do they know it’s a vintage little black dress you were able to find on sale, paired with velvet green heels. They somehow bring out the brightness in your eyes, a scarlet lipstick for contrast, hair in soft curls that sit on your shoulders. While Will offered an appointment from his own stylist, you kinda like doing stuff like that on your own—besides, you’re not the focus of tonight, no one is going to be asking you questions when you’re arm-in-arm with someone being nominated.
To that point, you look over at your friend as you walk through the double doors that open up into a large ballroom type area that has the stage set and ready. Checking in with a few people at the front, you receive the numbered table you’re going to sit at—
“This is kinda crazy,” You laugh, “Just to think—one day I’m sitting next to you in the sixth grade and you’re crying over spilled milk, literally—”
“Unfair,” Will interrupts with a hand, “That was all over the valentine I had spent the whole night making for Justine—”
You try not to snort but a noise definitely leaves your lips, covering your mouth with your hand, “Justine didn’t know you existed, she was dating someone else at the time.”
“Hence the valentine,” Will says pointedly, “It was supposed to change her mind.”
You laugh warmly and squeeze his arm, walking towards an open bar to grab a drink. “And now you’re here, being nominated for best supporting actor.”
So much has changed in a short amount of time, or maybe it just feels like a small coverage of your life. High school, college, the ups and downs of Will trying to break through with his acting career. Not just open the door but knock the whole thing down—tirelessly he’s put in hours, audition after audition and now here he is, at an award ceremony being nominated. It’s not as simple for some people who have passion, who have something they really love and want to pursue, there’s a lot of luck involved. But you also know how much he deserves this, even if he lowballs himself.
That awkward kid in the third grade who had wild, untamed dark curls and braces is now a strikingly handsome actor with raw talent to top it all off.
“Just supporting,” Will says and there he goes, attempting to under-value his work. But you know him, he’s just acting like he’s not impressed with himself in case he doesn’t win anything tonight—then he won’t have to hide the fact that he’s disappointed.
You affectionately roll your eyes as he offers you a glass of wine before grabbing his own, “Not like I’m out here with an impressive lead role or anything, Austin Butler was literally Elvis.”
You hum a bit dreamily as you take a sip of your wine. It’s unfair for Will to use that as a comparison in so many ways, mostly because, “That doesn’t eliminate the difficult and badass work you’ve put in for your own craft.”
Will thought he probably wasn’t going to get much commentary back because secondly, it’s a well-known fact that you’ve never discussed with anyone that you have a major crush on the tall, handsome actor. Except…well, obviously Will.
Yes, okay, seeing Elvis awakened a lot of strong feelings that you didn’t know were so prevalent when you watched other things he’d starred in. Sue you—wasn’t that the entire point of the film? You let out a breath, the air fluttering your hair a bit. You’re aware that Austin’s here but you already know that, luckily, you won’t be running into him. Not with the variety of other stars here and the massive number of tables. He’s probably seated at one near the front with his own date and—
“You know I read he broke up with his girlfriend?”
Making a face, you begin walking with Will towards the designated table you were assigned, “Why do I need to know this?”
Will smiles, shrugging, “Cause you’re obvious,” He smirks, “It could just give you just the edge you need to make your move tonight.”
He snickers when you bump your shoulder with his, “Shut up—first of all, just because he’s here does not mean I’m gonna seek him out, and secondly, even if I did run into him, what makes you think I’m gonna be able to even talk like a regular human being—”
The rest of your question completely disappears underneath your tongue because you stop fucking short. Right at the table number you’re headed to, three feet away, is Austin Butler. Austin Butler…walking to that same table…alone.
No date.
Austin Butler who is looking ridiculously fine in his sleek black suit, golden details of jewelry that bring out the blonde in his curls, smiling as he speaks to other people that are sitting at the same table you’re going to be seated at.
Nope.
“We’re sitting someplace else,” You say, as if you have some authority in making that happen.
Will’s eyebrows draw together in confusion before glancing at the table and grinning in realization, “Oh no we’re not.” He grabs your hand, tugging, and you just about fall over as your knees turn into bowls of jello.
“Will,” You all but quietly screech, “Stop—wait, I seriously can’t, not with what I’m wearing.” As if Austin cares about the heights of fashion and what you’ve got on but suddenly you’re super paranoid about what you look like, even though you highly approved of your outfit about five minutes ago.
“You seriously can.” Will says back and it’s too late to even make a different decision because he’s pulling on you too insistently to change course and you consider, for a moment, making a scene but it’s too late—
And you’re already at the table, Austin turning to look directly at you both as you end up at the seat next to him.
You are ninety percent sure that you almost melt right through the floor as he offers you a small and polite smile before saying Will’s name, “Hey man—you were amazing in—” There’s this roar of the ocean in your ears and you realize it’s actually your heart beating so fast and loudly that it’s covering up Austin’s commentary to your best friend.
You take in a short breath, unlock your knees so you don’t faint, and rest your hand along the back of your chair to ground yourself. Relax, you repeat a few times and you finally do. Once that happens and you feel like you’re actually a normal person again, you realize that Austin is looking down at you and wow height difference before you realize you’ve missed what was said.
Blinking, a soft laugh comes from Will, “You’ll have to excuse Y/N, she’s a big fan.”
You’re going to murder your best friend before he actually has a chance to win any awards. Austin laughs warmly—maybe even a bit shyly? And your cheeks splotch red before you shake your head,
“Guilty.” Cool, one word down—only a million more to formulate before the night is over.
“Wow thank you, that’s really sweet,” Austin offers his hand to shake, “Y/N, is it?”
You confirm with yourself that it is, in fact, your name before you nod with a smile. Gingerly taking his hand, you shake it back and try not to think about how warm his skin is. You gotta shake off this star struck sensation before you completely make an ass out of yourself—the night hasn’t even begun.
“It’s great to meet you.” You smile, curling your hair around your ear as you take a seat at the table, “I promise not to talk your ear off all night about your filmography.”
A soft laugh tumbles out of his lips as he follows suit, shaking his head. “I don’t mind, kinda makes it easier for me to get used to when people talk about it.”
And that’s…a surprising response, refreshing almost. You’ve admittedly watched a decent amount of interviews Austin’s been in and he seems so…humble? Genuine. And it’s here too right before your eyes, in the way Austin speaks and handles himself, it’s not just for show. Your heart swells in your chest because that certainly doesn’t make your crush on him any easier.
“I’m sure you know what I mean though—with Will’s career up-and-coming too?” You suppose Austin has a point, you hadn’t really thought about it like that, “How long have you two been together?”
You take a sip of wine and laugh softly, the sound almost turning into a cough. Austin’s eyebrows draw together slightly even though the edges of his mouth are amused, “Sorry—uhm, Will and I aren’t together, we’re not dating,” You shake your head, “He’s my best friend, has been for half my life.”
“Oh, my bad,” Austin chews on his lower lip, picking up his own drink to take a sip.
A few others settle around the table, Will on the other side talking to a fellow actor that was in the film with him. A small smile tugs its way onto your face, stomach fluttering with apprehension. No matter what happens tonight with the awards, you have plans this weekend to celebrate—which may or may not include baking some sort of cake or cupcakes and an Alien movie marathon. Bottles of wine definitely included.
“What is it that you do?” Austin asks next, almost looking apologetic for a moment for the small talk but you honestly don’t mind. He could decide to read the phone book and that’d be okay with you—not only is he nice to listen to but any excuse to settle your eyes on him is an added bonus. “You in the Hollywood scene too?”
“God no,” Way too quick of a response and Austin raises his eyebrows just a little. You laugh slightly, running your hand along one of your heated cheeks, “I just meant I don’t think I could handle it, ‘the life’?” There are some air quotes with your fingers.
“’The life’?” Austin repeats, smiling, “You make it sound like some sort of mob movie.”
Leaning back against the cushion of your chair, you’re about to dive into the original question with a grin—something you love talking about, “I’m a kindergarten teacher, by the way, have been for…” You purse your lips, trying to remember, “Eight years now?”
And there’s this…warmth that Austin has in his eyes, like the sun on the ocean, sincere as he listens. “Eight years?” He asks, angling his body a bit towards yours—there’s this authentic interest when he speaks and you don’t know why it’s so surprising to you. Maybe because you’re talking about being a teacher, something that feels so mundane at this red-carpet event, and someone who’s just embodied Elvis in an amazing film is talking to you as if you hold a secret wonder of the world.
It's just…nice to know that Austin, thus far, is exactly who he shows himself to be.
“And you were sayin’ Hollywood was like the mob? Little kids can be tyrants too.”
Laughing, you take another sip of wine, “You’re not wrong—especially when there’s twenty-five in one room and you’ve only got three sets of Legos.”
It’s a small conversation before the award ceremony begins but you feel…validated in talking about it. Not something you expected from a celebrity encounter, especially sometimes when you can’t even get it from someone who works a more ‘normal’ job. You can’t help but sneak glances at Austin when awards are being presented, speeches getting made…hard to concentrate on anything else. He’s wickedly handsome, thoughtful, great at carrying a conversation because of course he is. You should have suspected that Austin would turn out to be everything you thought—just makes your crush that much more difficult.
Whatever, consider this a lucky interaction and move on, right?
During a small intermission, you stand from the table to get a refill at the open bar. Will comes up right beside you on his way to the bathroom and grins— “Both of you makin’ hearteyes at one another or what?”
You snort, shoving him a little, “Shut up, he’s just really nice.”
“Mhm, you can owe me one later.”
Rolling your eyes, you watch him walk off before waiting in the small line to get a drink. Stepping forward when it’s your turn, you linger along the bar as you wait for your order to be filled, smiling at the bartender when he places another glass of wine in your hand.
“Beautiful dress.” A guy says next to you, lingering. You look over to see an older gentleman that you don’t recognize—though there’s a ton of people at this thing, he could be anyone. You blink for a moment, looking over your shoulder and then realize—
“Yes,” He laughs, “I’m talking to you. Stunning.” You can tell he’s the type of Hollywood socialite that expects the world to move for him every time he dishes out a compliment. You take in a patient breath before humming,
“Thank you.” Not wanting to be rude but attempting to move away, you step back from the open bar but this guy steps forward into your space.
“Are you an actress?” He asks and oh no, really? That line? “I swear I’ve seen you somewhere before.”
You try not to grit your teeth because apparently this guy is going to be insistent with one of the worst pick-up lines known to man. And now his hand is reaching out to touch your forearm, “I don’t think so, excuse me.”
“I’m a writer, you know,” He begins, just as you start to plan your escape route but then feel a warm weight behind you. And suddenly an arm is wrapping around your waist and you panic slightly because is this guy tag-teaming you with a buddy? But then look up and realize—
“There you are,” Austin smiles down at you, squeezing your waist, “Thought I’d have to send a search and rescue team up here to find you.” He then looks over at the guy who wouldn’t buzz off, “Jack—I see you’ve met my girlfriend.”
Your head is going to spin right off your neck at the whirlwind of things happening right now. Not only is it enough to feel Austin Butler molded into your side, the scent of his expensive sandalwood cologne settling over you like a light blanket, his hand on your hip, now he’s throwing words around like ‘girlfriend’ and you’re lucky you’re standing against him because your stomach drops straight into your knees.
Jack visibly makes a face, crinkling his nose, “I see.” He clears his throat, “Good seeing you again Austin.” And doesn’t say another word to you as he moves along his way.
Austin is quick to detach himself from your waist, swiveling around to face you with the softest of pinks kissing his cheeks. Gone too soon, to be honest. You can still feel the heat of his skin seeping through the fabric of your clothes. You blink up at him, not that you’re not thankful for the rescue but,
“That’s Jack,” Austin supplies, “He thinks he’s a gift to the writers of Hollywood. Not the first time I’ve seen him corner women into conversations they don’t want to be in,” He smiles a little, running a hand through his hair, “You just seemed stuck.”
“I was definitely stuck,” You laugh, your hand automatically squeezing his wrist, “Thank you. Maybe I can uh…” Oh man, here goes nothing, right? “Buy you a drink sometime? Say thanks?”
Austin looks at you for a long moment, drawing his lower lip into his mouth in thought. He seems to be considering something that you can’t pinpoint but eventually he nods, “Yeah, I’d like that. Then I’d like to buy you one, if that’s alright.”
“That’s a fair trade,” You grin, can’t help but feeling a little giddy and maybe lightheaded? You half expect to wake up from this dream and stare at your ceiling in disbelief, “I’m on that kindergarten salary so it’d be much appreciated.”
He chuckles and the exchange of numbers is quick before Austin grabs his drink and begins to return to the table. Seeing Will beginning to walk back as well, you manage to snag him by looping your arm around his.
“Alright,” You sigh dramatically, glancing towards the table as Austin makes it back there. A small smile tugs the corners of your mouth, watching him talk with other people…and then his gaze just so happens to look in your direction again. There’s an eye connect, soft smiles exchanged, and your stomach bursts into fluttering butterflies.
“You’re right, I owe you one.” You tell Will and he laughs—no need to elaborate, throwing his arm around you to squeeze as you walk back to sit down.
The rest of the evening is a perfect blur.

Restless Rewatch: The Untamed, Episode 37 part two
(Masterpost) (Pinboard)  (whole thing on AO3)
Tumblr media
Warning! Spoilers for All 50 Episodes!
Inquiring Minds
Wei Wuxian asks the kids if any of them can perform inquiry so he can ask Song Lan who fucked him up like this. Sizhui does a good job, but he has to whisper to himself while he plays, because he is not a mensch like Lan Wangji (yet).
Song Lan says that Xiao Xingchen is the culprit, and the kids immediately ignore apparently-murderer Xiao Xingchen who's sitting next to them, and instead have a seminar on how inquiry works and the niceties of guqin-language translation.
Tumblr media
During the whole conversation, they talk about Song Lan being killed, not just mostly-killed, incidentally. And that's not a translation error; I'm actually able to recognize the phrase "shale ta." (My small collection of Chinese-words-I-can-recognize-when-I-hear-them is entirely Wuxia-based, including useful words and phrases like wo shale ni (I'm going to kill you), dianxia (prince/lord), and dalisi (the court of judicial review).
They all continue to ignore Xiao Xingchen while Sizhui asks Wei Wuxian's third question, which is "who controls you." Song Lan's answer this time is "that dude behind you." That dude, who we are perhaps beginning to suspect is not really Xiao Xingchen, smirks and snaps his fingers.
Tumblr media
Song Lan responds by breaking out of the rope and summoning his sword and fuchen (horsetail whisk) to his hands.
Tumblr media
He brings his sword to Wei Wuxian's neck and Wei Wuxian tells the kids to back off, saying that all of them put together are not a match for Song Lan. Which is true, judging by the juniors' sword moves, which consist entirely of standing still and pointing.
Tumblr media
Not-Xiao-Xingchen says that the adults are going to talk so the kids should go outside. Wei Wuxian tells the juniors to scram, and reminds them not to breathe in a lot of poison while they're out there. Gee, thanks, Laoshi.
(More behind the cut!)
Sizhui lingers, and Wei Wuxian tells him he's the most sensible and that he should take charge of the others. He tells Sizhui not to be afraid, and Sizhui says he isn't.
Tumblr media
He also says that Mo-qianbei and Hanguang-Jun are alike. Wei Wuxian denies this, saying they're opposites. Almost like yin and yang, in fact, needing each other to create a balance.
Sizhui thinks in a voiceover that he doesn't know why, but he thinks they're alike; that if either one of them is there, he doesn't need to be afraid. They are mostly not alike, I think, but they are both devoted parents to Sizhui, so he's right about that.
Tumblr media
His recognition of Wei Wuxian is growing, and I like that he's able to ponder this stuff in the midst of all these life threatening situations. It's actually fairly accurate to life as a teenager, in which the big work of figuring yourself out is always going on in your head, no matter the circumstances.
Dear Slim, I wrote you
Once the kids are gone, both of the adults can drop their aliases, and speak demonic-cultivator to demonic-cultivator.
Tumblr media
They stand around while not-Xiao-Xingchen, who is obviously Xue Yang, delivers a heap of exposition about making zombies and his new Yin Tiger Seal and...*yawn.*
Anyway, he lured Wei Wuxian here so he could resurrect someone for him. Wei Wuxian says nope, listening briefly to the spirit-trapping bag that Xue Yang hands him and saying that this person is super duper dead, and wants to stay that way.
Tumblr media
Xue Yang insists, reminding Wei Wuxian that the kids are hostages.
During this whole conversation, Song Jiyang, who plays Xiao Xingchen, does a great job playing Xue Yang - possibly helped along by using the same voice actor for overdubbing? - including by embodying many of Xue Yang's annoying mannerisms.
Tumblr media
On my first watching, I found Xue Yang very very annoying, right up until the point that the show flips the script and manages to make him sympathetic and tragic, which is quite a trick, considering that he's a psycho and also a dick. On subsequent viewings I still find him annoying but I like his fighting style a lot, and what he brings to the story generally.
When Xue Yang starts cackling, Wei Wuxian greets him by name and tells him he should stop pretending to be someone he isn't. Xue Yang responds by taking off his eye cover and then by taking off his face, which is a mask that's way more convincing than poor Mo Xuanyu's craft-store paper-mache thingy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Xue Yang picked up some good disguise tricks during that summer he spent in Changsha interning for Zhang Rishan.
Tumblr media
The mountain of exposition continues, covering a wide range of topics
Skull nails
how Wen Ning is hard to control
Yin Tiger Seal 1.0
Yin Tiger Seal 2.0
other pieces of Yin metal
Xue Yang's mysterious friend who is good at acting, i.e. Jin Guangyao.
Wei Wuxian being the founder of demonic cultivation
Xue Yang murdering the Chang clan
Xue Yang murdering Song Lan's sect
Murder Turtle
The Yin metal sword
The conversation does clear up some confusion about the Yin metal pieces from back in the day. Everyone thought there were only four, but Xue Yang is a Wuxia fan and knows that whenever something from a previous generation is hidden away for the good of the world and then is found by a later generation, there are always five of it. (See: Legend of Fei, Word of Honor)
During this conversation, Xue Yang shows a sincere admiration of Wei Wuxian, saying that he himself only figured out some things about Yin metal, but Wei Wuxian was able to learn without a teacher and create the Yin Tiger seal. It's...kinda sweet. He follows it up by explaining his "murder everybody" philosophy, which makes it a little less sweet.
Tumblr media
Fight Club
Mercifully, this near-endless conversation is interrupted by Song Lan crashing through the wall like the Kool-Aid guy, followed by Wen Ning in full multi-punch-man mode.
Tumblr media
Wei Wuxian tells the boys to take it outside, and then he and Xue Yang go out to watch the fight. Xue Yang was never able to control Wen Ning, he says, because "some things recognize their masters too well." Wei Wuxian says that Wen Ning is not a thing. He doesn't deny that he is Wen Ning's master, however. As if he could.
Xue Yang responds with some linguistic subtlety that is lost in translation and then draws his  Xiao Xingchen's sword and takes a swipe at Wei Wuxian, who easily ducks the blow.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Xue Yang explains that he doesn't want to kill him, just capture and enslave him. Then the fight is on, with Wei Wuxian dodging, blocking, and spinning, while whining about having low spiritual energy in his new body.
Tumblr media
Wei Wuxian calls for a substitute to do his fighting for him. Xue Yang says that Hanguang-Jun is busy fighting his little friend. (I find it hilarious that Xue Yang consistently refers to Su She as his little friend.) He's barely finished saying this when Lan Wangji comes sailing in, deflecting his blow and striking a pose for Wei Wuxian.
Tumblr media
Sometimes you succeed in recoloring a super foggy, blue-tinted gif, and sometimes you just give up.
Lan Wangji immediately yoinks Xiao Xingchen's sword off of Xue Yang, and tells him he doesn't deserve this sword. Boy howdy, Hanguang-Jun, you don't know the half of it.
Xue Yang summons his own sword out of thin air and Sword Superfan Lan Wangji says "Calamity Befalls" because he knows the names of ALL the swords. The guys in his Discord are going to be so excited that he got to cross blades with two famous swords in one day.
Tumblr media
Before the fighting starts, Lan Wangji tells Wei Wuxian to hit the bricks, saying "you are not needed here." I love that grown-up, mellower, affectionate Lan Wangji is still a salty bitch.
Tumblr media
Wei Wuxian bails while Lan Wangji and Xue Yang bust out a bunch of their best moves, with the actors doing a lot of the stunt work themselves.
Tumblr media
This sword move by Wang Haoxuan is pretty great. Useless, like Wei Wuxian's spinning, but hawt.
Tumblr media
And Wang Yibo is grace personified when he’s on wires.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While the sword fight is going on, Wen Ning and Song Lan are having a frowning contest.
Tumblr media
They are also beating the crap out of each other.
Tumblr media
The juniors watch the punch-up with keen interest; Jingyi is particularly happy about it. Jin Ling isn't smiling but he seems pretty entertained for a guy who's dad was killed by one of those same punches.
Wei Wuxian sees the fight and reflects that he's not needed there either. But that the juniors do need him, and he gets a happy little smile, finding a context in which he can be useful.
Tumblr media
The juniors all flock to him like ducklings and he teases them about his terrible congee.
When they see Lan Wangji fighting, the little Lans all preen. Jingyi announces that Hanguang-Jun is the best, and asks Wei Wuxian to confirm it. Wei Wuxian is surprised to be asked, given that he's just a random guy who is obviously fucking their favorite teacher.
Jingy is offended when Wei Wuxian doesn't immediately agree, but Wei Wuxian contemplates for a bit, thinking about all the ways that Lan Wangji is the best, particularly his dick, and chuckles to himself while agreeing with Jingyi.
Tumblr media
Lan Wangji backs up these assertions by pausing for a moment in his fight to knock out a whole group of zombies with one strum of his invisible guqin...zombies who dared to menace Wei Wuxian.
Tumblr media
Grave Disturbance
Wei Wuxian collects the kids and goes to find A-Qing, saying she has something important to communicate, and that she's not on Xue Yang's side. He also tells the kids that the dude fighting Lan Wangji is Xue Yang. He doesn’t explain why or how, though.
They all go into the coffin house/morgue, where Wei Wuxian says they're safe because they haven’t seen any zombies since, like, four minutes ago. Seems logical.
A-Qing pops up from behind a coffin and starts tapping it. She makes it super incredibly obvious, through hand signals, that she wants someone to open the coffin, and most of them, including Wei Wuxian, are too dumb to understand this.
Tumblr media
Fortunately Jin Ling is paying attention, and explains what she wants. Wei Wuxian tells everyone to back up, in case the coffin is trapped, and then opens it by leaning directly over it.
Tumblr media
Xiao Xingchen is in the coffin, and this time we know it's the real Xiao Xingchen because Wei Wuxian has a flashback about him.
A-Qing somehow knows it's him in the coffin, despite being blind and not reaching in to touch him. She cries tears of blood because that is exactly how human tear ducts and eyeballs work.
Tumblr media
Since she's mute, Sizhui suggests using inquiry to talk to her. She's...alive? Does inquiry work on alive people? Whatever. Wei Wuxian says that Inquiry won’t help, and that he's going to use Empathy instead, because what this show needs right now is a two-episode-long flashback. Jin Ling objects, saying it's too dangerous, but Wei Wuxian says to STFU and let's get cracking.
Then he tells us about his favorite mango drink. At least, if you are watching on Viki, where some of the original ads are included with the episodes. The combination of an abrupt, somber episode ending, followed immediately by a cheerful in-character advertisement, is never not hilarious.

That question was super serious im trying to figure out what's going on, love that taylor got all that exposure but it was a bit surprising, Im from a super homophobic country (illegal/death penalty type homophobic) and china is probably more progressive from where i stand but by western standards its still a lot conservative. So it was odd that an actor who's only popular in certain groups for playing a queer character is getting hyped up there.
Heads up, I went on a rant lmao
I agree. And I was really freaking anxious the whole time he was there because of it.
Okay, for those who don't know, here's the thing about LGBT+ in China. And I'm only gonna talk about the sexuality aspect because the gender aspect is a whole other topic and a lot less progressive than the sexuality side (that being said trans lives matter)
The official stance promoted by the government, ergo the public, is condemning it. Thankfully not in an illegal/death penalty type, but more in a "if we ignore it and don't talk about it, it will go away" type.
There were a couple of years I think in the mid-2010s where significant progress was being made in terms of both representation (see shows like Guardian, the Untamed, Word of Honor) and pride organizations and support (see Shanghai Pride)
But starting in mid-2021 the government suddenly cracked down on queer representation. "Effeminate" men were publicly condemned and called "sissy" BY THE OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT NOTICE (I was fucking fuming when I read it). Dangai (BL, or simply, adapted from gay novels) shows were banned. Multiple LGBT+ organizations were shut down without explanation. And just this year, when a singer with a famous song about being an LGBT ally supporting the community held a concert in Beijing, anyone with anything remotely resembling a rainbow was banned from entry and had to hand in the rainbow object, even if it was their clothing. And those stuff were never returned. The older generation, such as my parents' generation, condemn it. It's not an optimistic sight.
But here's the fucking truth: queer people, have always existed, and always will. So actually, younger people, I'd say 30 years old and younger, the vast majority accept queerness. Gay couples are sharing their lives on Bilibili. Danmei (explicitly gay) radio dramas, novels, and comics are still being produced and consumed. There are so many people watching Western gay shows and movies such as RWRB as well as producing gay fan content. And honestly, part of it is due to the shipping culture here (which is a whole other topic I can write a dissertation on).
Either way, what I'm trying to say is regardless of whatever the "official stance" is, the demographic that's active on social media is accepting of it. Which is why RWRB could gain such popularity in China.
As per my last ask, I think the main reason for inviting Taylor is his willingness to try things the local way. A lot of times Chinese capitalists/executives don't really care where the star got their fame from, they just care that they are famous.
The difference with Taylor is that actors in China of a similar level of status locally to Taylor and who have been in queer productions don't talk about it after the promo period is over. If anything, gaining fame from being in a Dangai is kind of considered shameful. In fact, they actively avoid it. Taylor is of course, more than willing to talk about RWRB. In fact, during the videos, live streams and stuff, I was actively observing if RWRB would be brought up by the Chinese side/host. It wasn't. During the Little Red Book livestream, despite basically everyone in the live chat spamming RWRB comments, Taylor was the one who said "Oh I see talk about RWRB, what do you want to know?" And I understand that there are several potential reasons why RWRB wasn't brought up by the host, including time constraints, pre-set questions, pre-set agendas etc, but latent homophobia is also a potential reason.
Either way, yeah. I don't really know what the conclusion of this ramble is but here you go 😅

Idol/Actor!Wang Yibo x Idol/Actor!Reader: Drama
Tumblr media
A/n: I am crazy about this guy okay. And idc There just arent enough fics about him so I'll fix that😭 (Y/n is a member of a group called Enigma, with Leader Aera, Nix, Flora and Soojin. They're under ✨KQ✨)
Summary: Yibo, the legendary actor from the Chinese drama The Untamed had finally been cast in a Korean Drama. What happens when he meets this recently debuted Idol, and finds them interesting. Will he act on his interest?
----------------------------------------------------
Even before your trainee and pre-debut days you've wanted to become an idol plus actor so when your manager brought you an acting gig you jumped into action. Since then it's been a progressive journey, with your group's performances and comebacks you barely managed, but it made you happy.
"Y/n! Come on, leave the script alone, please just practice one last time before you leave. You can rehearse it more on the way anyway!" You leader Aera called out. You huffed and kept it inside your bag.
"I really need to get this gig okay!" You said and jumped into position for the practice of the b-side track of your next comeback.
Sweaty and out of breath you collapsed on the ground. "Y/nie?" Nix you other group members asked.
"Yes?" You asked to support the upper-half of your body on your elbows.
"Why are you so desperate for this one?" She asked
"I bet one of her favourite actors is in it? Who is it?" Flora asked. You shook your head and said "I really want it okay, One, it's a good role and two it has good screen time".
Well, lets say the auditions wasn't really difficult.
----------------------------------------------------
"Y/N UNNIE!!!! Y/N UNNIE?!" Soojin came running to you, "The Turn Tables! That's your drama right?!! You made the lead supporting?! There's Wang Yibo!" She huffed and spoke, excited and out of breath.
"What?! How did you know?!" You asked.
"Uh, Soompi" she said "Why didn't you tell us!" She groaned. "I wanted to surprise you guys!" You said
"Wait what?" Flora, who was chilling on her side of the bed asked "Aren't you excited?"
"Excited! I feel like I'd throw up not gonna lie" you said.
"Why? Why would you throw up?" A familiar voice said from the door behind Soojin.
"No what are you two menaces doing here?" Flora asked
"Hey I was invited" Yunho protested
"How did you even imagine to do this without me?" Wooyoung said wiggling his eye brows.
The two took a seat on your bed as Soojin walked out and Flora put on some headphones and said "Don't mind me, I'm gonna nap".
You had called Yunho as he's done romantic roles before and this was your first time. So, Wooyoung helped you run the lines as Yunho guided you better.
"Make your eyes a bit big as you say that" he told you and you nodded your head.
All of you were actually trainees together, specially you Wooyoung, Yeosang and Flora were together even before joining KQ at Bighits. From there, being KQ trainees and then KQ Chicás, you all have come a long way.
(a/n: I made up KQ fellas to KQ Chicás)
And here you were standing infront the elevator in the TV station trying to calm your nerves, when your manager said "Y/n, Look sharp"
You looked up to find Wang Yibo and whom you assume to be his manager walking straight towards you. Your primary trance broke as they stood infront of you both and the two managers greeted eachother.
"Hello sunbaenim, I'm Y/n from Enigma" you bowed and said.
"Hello, I'm Wang Yibo" he bowed back and smiled.
"You're doing the role a Yerin? Right?" The manager asked you. You nodded.
"You have many scenes together, get along well okay" he told you both as Yibo passed a small smile.
"Um, I don't know much people around, how's the Director?" He asked
"Ah, she's very nice and chill, as long as you remember your lines" you said and smiled.
"That's good to know. Lets work well" he said bringing up a fist and said "HWAITING!"
To say you were flustered was an understatement, being in front of Yibo itself short circuited your brain plus the conversation, damn. His smile was so much cuter in reality. You felt your heart melting and that wasn't good for you.
This was the start of a budding friendship between you and Yibo, and you looked forward to the schedules. Because it was a crime and action series it took more time to shoot, as you had fights and chases but you liked them.
The day of your 1st fight scene a few of your members and friends came to cheer you. Hence you found a worried Nix and Aera and a very excited Yeosang and Wooyoung.
"Beat some!" Wooyoung cheered as Aera glared at him. After your scene, Nix, Yeosang and Aera went as they had schedules, but Wooyoung decided to stay back as it was an indoor shoot anyway. Yibo and you had a joint fighting scene which led to you both saving the main female protagonist who was taken by the villains you were "fighting".
"Ackh" you fell to the ground as the charecter fake pushed you and you were thrown on Yibo. And the director shouted "cut". But that moment that Yibo held you and your eyes connected, your heart almost jumped out of your chest.
"I saw that" Wooyoung teased
"What?" You asked as your makeup artist ran up to you to touch up and the fx make up artist came to touch up your fake cuts and bruises.
"You know" he said wiggling his eyebrows "Introduce me? Please"
"No!" You said blushing and looking away
"I swear if you don't, I'll post that picture of yours that I took yesterday while you were eating!" He said laughing
"That's blackmail you bitch" you snickered and motioned him to follow you.
"Sunbaenim" you went up to him.
Wooyoung could see from afar how his eyes almost lit up at your sight.
"Yes, Y/n ssi?" He answered
"My friend here wanted to meet you" You said shyly.
"Hello, I'm Wooyoung from Ateez. It's nice to meet you" Woo said bowing.
"Hello, I'm Wang Yibo." He said and they shook hands.
"Huge fan, of your music and acting" he said
"Ah, trust me I also love your music, KQ really has very good artists and music" he complimented and You knew it was meant for you as well and you smiled.
And even though Wooyoung was a catalyst, after that moment you and Yibo spoke more often and in between shoots y'all were generally found chatting. You even introduced your other members to him. The whole cast along with the main female lead Solbin were all sweet to you and you all were like friends. Wooyoung often visited the site and he had quite the friendship with Yibo considering they both were filled with Gremlin energy. The three of you have also been to grab coffees and had lunches together, with Solbin tagging along too at times.
Yibo genuinely enjoyed your company, and your personality made you easier to talk to. You? You loved talking and joking around with him. Currently you were laughing at how he brought out the handkerchief from his coat pocket and was "cleaning" his fake gun. Just what goes on inside his head?
----------------------------------------------------
You were sleeping as you still had time for the next shot, the comeback and shooting was getting to you. But you had to do it, you felt something warm being draped over you. You open your eyes lightly to see Yibo, draping his coat over your sleeping form. His heart dropped seeing you so tired but he knew this is your dream and you've gotta keep going on. He wished he could be beside you for all those times to come. He loved talking to you, he loved the way your eyes lit up when you talk about your passions and your friends.
You were woken up later for your scene, you found Yibo's jacket drapped over you which brought a smile on your face. It smelt like him, his manly smell and cologne. You were informed of the next scene and you winced, it was the scene where your charecter Yerin sees Yibo and the female protagonist kiss and finally decides to move on. You had go watch him kiss. Well even though its acting even the thought pulls your heart strings, after all your celebrity crush is now your actual crush, and who would like to watch there crush kiss someone else.
"Action" the director yelled and the scene rolled, you walked down the corridor and were about to call Suho (Yibo's charecter) but stopped to find them kissing, you knew all this wasn't real, you knew this was acting but you couldn't stop the tears stinging your eyes threatening to fall. The director gave counts "three, two, one" and you kept stepping back with every count and "run" you ran away from there.
"And Cut!" The director shouted. "Very good Y/n!" He said as you lightly wiped your tears.
"You're okay?" you heard Yibo's voice
You nodded your head.
"Ah our poor Y/nie must be so tired" Solbin said "You did good"
"Thank you" you said bowing not being able to meet anybody's eye. But you could not ponder on that thought for long.
Soon the stylist walked up to you with a huge spray bottle and you went "Wow! Whats that for?" You asked.
"this is your last scene for today, the rain scene remember?" She said and you nodded. Yes, today was the day you'd meet the actor who would be Yerim's love interest. You couldn't remember who it was, well guess you'll meet him in the shoot it self.
Once the artificial rain was on, the director started rolling "POSITIONS, ACTION!"
You ran out and walked off looking downwatds as the script said suddenly you collided with someone, "Oh sorry" he said as you looked up to find Cha EunWoo. You kept following the script, and kept looking into his eyes and he looked at yours, the counts were given before the scene proceeded, with his charector Woosik, seemingly helped you get a cab. As soon as the camera got cut you went to greet Eunwoo. "Oppa! Hi" you called.
"Hi Y/nie! You were good" he said
"You aced it too" you said.
You stood there for some time talking to him, about your current activities. Unknown to you both Yibo's eyes were glued at the two of you, watching closely at the way the two of you were talking to each other. He rushed after you as soon as he watch the two of you bid farewell.
The shoot was over for the day, you were about to leave when, you heard "Y/n! Y/n! You have promotions right?"
"Yess Op- gege" you told him. You've always called him after je asked you not to call him 'sunbae'
"Can i come with you?" He asked
"Umm... Ok. It's in this building anyway" you said.
"Yes. And Y/n call me Oppa instead" he said with a smirk. You were left with a flustered face.
----------------------------------------------------
"What's he doing with you?!" Aera asked
"He is not WITH me! He's just here" you debated as the others shook their heads. The crew of the show took over and provided him with a seat, he was with a mask and cap so it wasn't much of a hassle in any way when he entered with your managers and took a seat behind the cameras.
Soon the show started and Yibo's eyes went wide to see the MC. Damn he's everywhere, Yibo thought. To say he was amazed to watch you dance, sing and rap was an understatement. He really loved the hip-hop style your team used instead of general bubble-pop. He actually followed your songs and progresses since before debut but seeing you up close, his bias was something else. And now that he knows you in person he's almost proud of you. However, the way he tightened his fist every time you and Eunwoo interacted, be it during the interview or side glaces and smiles was visible to anyone who was looking and in this case someone was looking. It was true seeing you even look at Eunwoo pulled at his heartstrings, he hated the way Eunwoo looked at you.
"Oppa, Yibo Oppa" You called out as you found him leaving. Yibo stopped in his tracks at the name you called him, his heartbeating fast.
"Can you do a tiktok with me? Our dance challenge?" You asked when turned to look at you. He nodded. The two of you came to the place where most idols shoot their tiktoks. Only for Yibo to find Eunwoo wait there, probably for you. At least you're not doing it alone with Eunwoo. You showed them the steps of your song as your Manager stood there to record it when asked. You showed them the steps as the two followed and after practicing it twice, you shot it. Thanking the two, all three of you went to you're own ways.
The next day you met a chirpy Yibo who told you "I liked dancing with you, can we do it again like hangout and dance and we could grab a coffee. If you're free sometime" he said
"You will have to teach me your Swalla routine then" you said.
"Deal" he said with his signature smirk.
So, you were waiting at the KQ dance studio, you were wearing some loose cargo with a loose top and a cap. Messing with your phone and decided to post a selfie for your fans, putting a cute caption you did that and as if on queue Yibo entered.
"Hey!" He said and sat beside you on the floor.
"Nobody stopped you right?" You asked
"Nope, but your manager said, I'm welcome here" he said and ruffled your hair.
"Ah Hanguang Jun!" You whine
"Oh god! No!" He laughed
"Oh yes!" You said and stood up, followed by Yibo.
He taught you step by step and you caught on to them fast because you're a fast learner and you've watched the video a million times.
"You're good Lady L/n" he said with a smirk and your heart skipped a beat. After an hour of messing around you filmed the end result dance with Yibo.
That was when an idea struck you and you said "Do you remember the choreo to Falling in love?"
"Yeah somewhat" Yibo nodded
"Let's do it" you said propping him up.
You both took a video reference from youtube to recall the steps and practiced the choreo a good few times. When done the two of you popped on the floor, laughing and exhausted.
Watching you dance made him feel some type of way, you looked so adorable in the baggy dress and so beautiful without make up. He felt himself falling for you more and more. He doesn't know what to do? He has not felt this in a long time, this pull and longing, he can't not act on it.
"I love doing this with you" he side glanced at you and said.
"Me too, it's good to dance with someone else other than my members and Ateez. I'm glad it's you" you said and smiled.
That was when Yibo said he had a video choreo he wanted to try.
"Would you be comfortable?" He asked.
"Yeah I am" you said with flushed cheeks. Who wouldn't want to be close to their crush when the said crush wants it himself.
And you obliged, it was your first time with that kind of dance, but the thrill was killing.
You tried to copy, step by step, memorising them and synchronising your moves. You could swear your heart almost leaped out of his chest each time he drew near.
It was the same with Yibo, looking into your eyes for permission, he held you. Somehow, you, right there in his arms felt so good to him, it felt so right. You lost count of how many times you both got lost into each other's eyes and missed beats. But ultimately, you made it.
After filming that and sharing contacts you both decided to get coffee as you were met by a smirking Yeosang and Yunho on the way.
Soojin knew you had an awesome day the moment she found you at the door smiling ear to ear. You told her everything, starting from how you openly fangirled on his acting as Lan Zhan and his pair with Xiao Zhan which made him blush so red. To how you had a moment when dancing so close. How, even having his hands on your waist was so comfortable for you. What she noticed was how you were falling more and more for Wang Yibo.
----------------------------------------------------
"Really? 7 times?" Yibo asked in shock
"Yea. I just love the whole series. You're chemistry and acting was so on point" you said
"Hey hey!" You heard Wooyoung's voice in a sing song.
"Don't you have schedules?" You asked
"Nope, I'm free today, so I came to cheer you" he said making fists.
"I told nobody to come. It's embarrassing!" You whinned
"It's ok Y/n-ah. You'll do great" Yibo said.
"Were you talking about your unhealthy obsession with Untamed?" Wooyoung asked.
"Shut it" you said. Soon Solbin came to join y'all as you were called for a scene. It's the scene you've been dreading, the scene in Woosik's office, the kiss scene.
"Wah not just Eunwoo sunbae even Y/n is so good in acting" Solbin said and got up to get inside when Wooyoung spoke up.
"Acting isn't as difficult for Eunwoo hyung, that's the natural way he looks at Y/n" Wooyoung said, only to find Yibo with gritted teeth.
On the other hand, Eunwoo stood up and pinned Y/n against his desk and they got close, closer too close. And right then Eunwoo closes the gap.
"Y/n, stay stiff" the director kept saying "Soft, soft and hold" and you held Eunwoo's collar pulling him in closer. Tears formed into Yibo's eyes, he knew this was acting but hell, did it hurt. Wooyoung notices his gritted teeth and tightened fist, just as last day.
"Hyung you should tell her" Wooyoung finally said. And Yibo just looked at him confused, but Wooyoung's expression clearly said Yibo's secret crush on you, wasn't a secret at all to him.
"Are you crazy?!" Yibo said,
"So you want someone else to take her away? When you clearly like each other?!" Wooyoung said
"But her career? Media?! Com-" Yibo was rambling at this point
"Hyung we don't have a dating ban. And the rest can slowly be managed" Wooyoung said "I saw how you get upset whenever she's near Eunwoo hyung. But trust me, it's only on his side, Y/n had eyes for you even before she met you, but now, all the way more"
Yibo went silent, he did like you. After a long time he found someone who genuinely made him laugh and he found himself getting drawn to you like a moth to light. He felt this attraction since the very first day the two of you spoke. He needs to try, what if Wooyoung is right? He can't let you go.
He was in the middle of his thoughts, when he heard cheers and your voice thanking everyone. Followed by Wooyoung cat calling and the two of you bickering, which brought a smile to his face.
"Y/n, we need to talk after shoot" he said
You were shocked but nodded.
However, he had to rush to someplace after the shoot and he couldn't tell you. So you two decided to meet in the studio the following free day you had (yes he made his manager change and shift schedules accordingly).
This time you found Yibo waiting for you in your dance studio as soon as you entered he played the song you both practiced last day and he took position. So you did the same without a word and when he pulled you close by the end he said "I like you".
"What" you went into shock.
"I really do, I think I might have even fallen for you in these past months. Watching you near Eunwoo kills me. I love talking to you and knowing your point of view and opinion and stuff. I love how passionate you are and I would love to stand by you as you move forward" he said. You felt tears in the corner of your eyes and you acted on impulse and pulled Yibo by his neck and placed your lips on his. He immediately held your hips tighter and pulled you closer. You parted, in the need of air, as Yibo connected your foreheads and said. "I take that as a yes"
As he pulls you in for more, this time in a deeper kiss as he pull you closer holding you tight against his body. You're his.
"What did you mean by bringing up Eunwoo oppa? You were jealous?" You asked playfully.
"Wouldn't you be?" He asked.
"Oh I was. When you were kissing Solbin, my expressions were real" you said pouting.
"Aww" he cooed kissing your cheek. Gosh, he loved doing that.
Things were easy from then on, but you had each other, your members and Ateez cheered so loud when you told them. It was your plan to gather them saying you wanted to show them something. Yibo and you, performed your routine and ended it with a kiss and Never has anyone heard Wooyoung cheer louder.
The company didn't have a problem if things weren't public. When the drama aired you had fun promoting it with your boyfriend, with solbo, YiY/n, EunY/n even Y/nbin (you and Solbin lol) trending. But it was fun and you both knew that this was the end game.

The Untamed Mind Dump (Spoilers duh)
(I have yet to read the novel for MDZS, and I am on Episode 47 of The Untamed so I want to do another mind dump like last time)
Jin Guangyao, I've been suspicious of him ever since I saw that face of his (I am not calling the actor ugly or anything like that, I can acknowledge its the acting that made him look suscpious not his actual face.) But I didn't excpect for him to be that sick of a human being.
Wei Wuxian being the scapegoat all over again
Damn these people love to gossip
I forgot about Wei Wuxian offering his Golden Core to Jiang Cheng
I miss Jiang Yanli bro
I also miss Wen Qing
At least I have Wen Ning, he is so awesome
I have the firm belief that while Wen Ning and Wei Wuxian are responsible for the death of Jin Zixuan, I know damn well Jiang Yanli's blood is not on Wei Wuxian's hands. Heck, I kind of think even though Wei Wuxian was the cause of Jin Zixuan's death, that that situation was obviously curated from the start, there was no intention to kill anyone that day because Wei Wuxian was doing this all in self defense. (Still sad that Jin Zixuan had to be a casualty).
I legit don't remember Su She before episode 45
The way I had to pause, sit up, stand up, walk around when that lady revealed Jin Guangyao tortured his father like that and what he did to Qin Su??? OH MY GOOOODDDDDDDD
Lan Wanji, you're the best supporter and best friend ever (I know in the novel he's Wei Wuxian's lover but in The Untamed their relationship is still amazing as best friends).
Wei Wuxian is such a great leader and protected those teens well (most of them are teens right? they all seemed kinda young)
I feel so bad for Jin Ling, all of his family's dirty laundry being aired out from both sides because his (defected) martial uncle is infamous for doing dirty tricks and is the supposed one who killed his parents, his maternal uncle being really hard on him, his paternal uncle being absolute scum and him doing things worse than what Wei Wuxian was ever accused for, and then to top it all off, he is constantly bullied.
To add to that, Jin Ling's outbursts are to be expected, he's just like his maternal uncle, really emotional. Jiang Cheng has had his outbursts of anger and aggressiveness (verbal and/or physical) and this could be the only way Jin Ling knows how to express himself.
At first I thought Jin Ling was an arrogant and stupid spoiled brat but I just want to hug this poor kid, the trauma of not having his parents and knowing that they died brutal deaths, the bullying, just everything. Just let him have a nice and warm blanket while snuggling with Fairy for once, please?
Speaking of Fairy, can people stop threatening the dog please? Like, they're such a good boy/girl (Netflix subtitles swapped them at somepoint from he to she and then it so I have no idea).
I WAS CRYING WHEN LAN SIZHUI STARTED TO REMEMBER HIS PAST AND THEN WEN NING WAS TRYING TO CATCH UP WITH HIM BRUH I WAS UGLY CRYING, SOBBING, THEY'RE FAMILY, THEY DESERVE TO SPEND TIME TOGETHER, THE LAST OF THE WEN FAMILY AAAA
I am such a sucker for reunited families, families with close bonds, found families, I don't know why, but it strikes me in the heart in such a painful and joyful way.
Zewu Jun, I always have mad respect for this man and I understand how he needs to make his own judgement and not only trust the words of others, I just can't blame him for that. But man was I afraid that he betrayed everyone by actually being 100% on Jin Guangyao's side knowing everything he did in episode 46, but he looked as confused and weirded out as ever so thankfully he isn't on his side anymore, I love this dude, I'm his biggest supporter.
I'll make each of these things their own post because I have so much more I want to say.
