DPxDC: Jarro Adopts an Alien
Ok, so Danny has a space obsession and a protection obsession (I headcanon that as a halfa, Danny has two obsessions like all Halfas do which makes them unique to other ghosts.) and so while he can get his fill protecting people in Amity, he struggles with his space obsession. Sure, he can look up everything he can about space and the stars on the internet. He can stay up until 2 am looking at the stars (who needs sleep? He’s a ghost, he can go days, or even weeks without sleep if he wants, same with a lack of air or food.) but it’s just not enough. He craves to learn more, see more. Just as Dani gets that itch to travel, Danny wonders. What would it be like to see the stars up close? Are they really as hot as a dragons fire breath? Hotter!? Or maybe they are so hot they are cold. What does it look like to see plasma dancing across the surface, or touch the gasses of Jupiter? Does Pluto have ice caves like the far frozen? How many planets are actually out there? What about Mars. There’s a whole species living there with a language and culture Danny can’t even fathom! Oh what he wouldn’t give to talk with martian manhunter or Superman.
And what’s stopping him from exploring this? He can fly. He doesn’t need air. He can go intangible if it gets too hot and he’s practically immune to the cold. He wants to touch a space rock! See if they are smooth because there is no wind or earth to rub against them and erode the surface. He wants to see what planets they come from. What minerals they might have. He wants to know if there are currents in space. All of these things are right there just above the atmosphere. Surely it couldn’t hurt to take a quick peek. So he does. During a particularly bad day Danny flies as fast as he can until the earth’s gravity looses its effects. Until his hair is floating as of it’s in water even more than normal. Until he can feel when breathing no longer became a choice (still not necessary though). And it…was beautiful. To be surrounded by space. To see the earth like this. Pictures just didn’t do it Justice. He flew across the solar system and as he passed planets, he longed to fly through them. To search every crevice and learn their secrets. But he had a bigger prize in mind at the moment. The crown jewel of their universe. The closest star he could find. The sun.
Danny was mesmerized. The plasma really did dance across the surface. Like a never ending performance of science and beauty. There were sparks that few in arcs. Danny flew down and played in them, making a game to see how many he could fly under. His ghost core purred in delight. His obsession had never been more satisfied. He spent hours out there. Just exploring what his solar system had to offer. So when he returned? He couldn’t just forget. Pictures and online science theories had nothing on the real thing. He wanted to explore some more. So he did. Every night he would go out and explore the cosmos. Flying from planet to planet. (Either the Martians were still around and Danny made friends with them, even learning their language, or he just looks at their ruins to learn as much as he can). And with both obsessions now being filled, Danny is more settled. More confident. And he can focus better. Everyone notices the change, even his teachers. They just think that he’s paying more attention to his education now. He’s even better during his ghost fights.
But Danny can fly awfully fast. And he soaks up information even faster. Soon his trips take longer and longer as he flies further out. Sometimes he can barely make it back in time for school. And he can't go every night. Sometimes the ghosts won’t wait for daytime so he has to make sure the town will be safe in his absence. Although he’s been able to take more trips ever since Valerie joined the vigilante ranks. But still, he’s getting farther and farther from earth each night. Until one day he’s visited every planet, every star, every comet or debris in their solar system. Which would be fine. He could deal with that if that was all there was. But it wasn’t. Danny saw the stars just out of reach. He saw places the Milky Way was leaning towards. He saw just the barest hints of new solar systems with new planets and stars. And he knew of legends from lanterns that they had posted online. Heard tales from some scientists that have made better telescopes. And his core itches. It aches to know more. See more. Yet he can't go further. And this puts him in a sort of depression. Suddenly he’s back to his old self. Lagging behind. Distracted. Zoning out. Crashing into a few more buildings during ghost attacks. Yet he tries so hard to be satisfied with what he has. He can still fulfill his obsession…it’s just more like chewing on a granola bar rather than eating a decent meal. He’s almost becoming lethargic.
So one day he goes to Frostbite to see if there’s anything he can do to lessen the effects. But the yeti just takes one look at him and gives him the infimap. And suddenly Danny is in a whole new universe in seconds. The planets are purple. The stars are blue. He’s pretty sure there are furry blob-like creatures living on one of those planets. And suddenly he gets that itch, but holding the infimap, he knows he had time, so he lets himself go.
And for a while it’s good. great even. Since he can’t keep asking the yetis for the infimap, he goes over to Wulf to see if he’s up for an adventure. Most of the time he is and they go exploring the galaxies together. And then Wulf had the genius idea of teaching Danny how to make portals. It took a long time but soon, he could concentrate the surrounding ectoplasm enough to weaken it and pull. It took a while since Danny didn’t have ecto claws and would have to use his pure will. But this would allow him to follow his obsession anytime, anywhere. So it was only a matter of time. And once he figured it out? It was like something was unlocked. Danny had never before understood how Ellie could travel so much. But now he did. That feeling when you discover something new. When you add to your reservoir of knowledge. When the patterns in the universe just click. There is nothing Danny could compare it to. And to explore that whenever he wanted? It was so freeing. While Wulf sometimes still joined Danny’s adventures, Danny did most of his explorations by himself.
He meets various planets and aliens. So many different cultures. He learns thousands of languages. Tries all kinds of foods (and it’s a good thing his ghost self has an iron stomach and he’s basically poison resistant.) even found a whole comet where blood blossoms grew. (Which he most definitely avoided). And wasn’t that fascinating? To find out they were from space.
And then during his travels one day he met a space alien starfish.
It was actually a funny story. A meteor shower was about to attack a planet of talking blue monkey creatures with 4 arms. Danny immediately started diverting them and was soon joined by some lantern corps (which his inner fanboy wanted to talk to so bad.). And a tiny starfish in a…Robin uniform? Oh and the starfish could apparently do martial arts which was interesting to watch him karate chop a meteor. He could also talk directly into Danny’s head which the halfa found more interesting. So they got to talking and apparently his name was Jarro. He seemed to be helping the lantern corps as a ‘proxy from earth’ to make better use of his skills.
Danny would run into Jarro a few more times. Sometimes he was with Lanterns and sometimes he would just be exploring the galaxies. They started forming a pretty strong friendship and Danny would start seeking out the starfish alien to travel with him. He knew all kinds of space facts. Apparently he had an eidetic memory. When they explored, sometimes Jarro would just stick to part of Danny. Wrapped around his arm, his waist, sometimes just sticking to his back like a strange backpack. But they always had fun.
So Danny was happy. He could fulfill both obsessions and got a space pal. Everything was great!
Until the GIW caught him.
It would probably be the worst day of his life.  There was an explosion in the lab. Something set up by them after they realized Danny frequented that place often. So they set a trap and blew it up. Thankfully, Jazz was at college during this but both his parents were home. When the explosion went off, Danny had tried putting a Barrier around them all. It took everything he had to maintain it. That’s how they found out he was phantom. Danny had a few moments where his parents said they accepted him but he couldn’t hold the barrier for long. His parents said that they loved him and then everything went green. He woke up in a lab, tired and injured. His only saving grace being that he remained in phantom form. And he was determined to remain so.
Danny’s time at the GIW was a haze but eventually, he managed to escape. Bleeding, and tired, and still recovering from the burns in the explosion, Danny made a portal straight to Amity. Only when he got there, it was a ghost town. Streets were empty, buildings were boarded up. Even the Nasty Burger was deserted. As for his house, there was nothing but a crater left and some scattered debris. Danny looked everywhere but there was no one. No Jazz. No Sam. No Tucker. No one. and he was tired. And everything hurt, and he needed a friend. Someone he could trust. So in a daze he made a portal and tried to just project safe. Safe safe safe. Somewhere he knew he would be protected. And so Jarro got a surprise when his space buddy suddenly popped out of a green portal, bleeding green and clearly passed out. He didn't know what to do. He didn’t know how to help him. But Jarro knew someone who would.
So with a speed never before seen from a tiny starfish, he flew to earth. Bringing his friend straight to his father. Because surely batman could help!
And with his appearance, the green blood, the knowledge of space facts. The lack of wanting to talk about where he came from (and the nightmares crying out for his parents). This is how the bats became convinced that Jarro brought them an injured alien.

I discovered something huge about Rolan and Cal and Lia!
I hope I am the only one who didn't realise this until now but Cal and Lia are NOT Rolan's actual siblings.
I killed them just to use speak with the dead spell on them and Rolan's corpse said he has no family. He said only Cal and Lia are brother and sister and "Cal says I am family, but..." and the way he said it is so sad.

Hunger Games AU where literally everyone else is aware of What Happened Before except for Cale. Whether this be reincarnation, Hunter fuckery or godly nonsense is up to you.
To Cale some victor in district 7 is really keen on him winning, even though he has his own tributes. Then there's this well known Capitol family that has only ever sponsored in the game once, which was for the district 7 guy, and has now decided to sponsor him. for some reason. And the presidents son is also weirdly supporting Cale. They also keep saying weird things.
Meanwhile, Cale's family is trying to get Cale to Remember Them while also making sure he survives and that they get back to their original world.
Cale had protected them so many times before, so it's only fitting they do so now, even if it means others die.

I can't get this out of my head. It's just something that ive had rattling around. If this doesn't make much sense I'm sorry lol but.
Do you ever think about if the Spartan ii's ever met one of those siblings without realizing it?
Like. John meeting a young female marine. She's quick witted and wicked smart. There is almost nothing she will back down from. At least not until she gets a "win." She will never leave one of her teammates behind. She's also known among her friends for her dry sense of humor.
One day she runs into John whiles he's out of armor. She never realizes that he's the Master Chief as they stare at one another. Blue eyes look into blue. The roots of her hair are blonde. Contrasted against a dark brown. They share the same smattering of freckles. Dusted along their face and down to their arms. Petering out along the backs of their hands.
And when she smiles there's a gap in her front teeth. (One tooth is chipped from a hard won game of King of the Hill.) She jokes that they match.
Apparently her brother had to. Her parents told her about him. How he had passed a few years before she was born. Her mother told her about her and her brothers shared a constellation of freckles.
Maybe Kelly runs into a pair of twin engineers. One is a girl. The other a boy. The girl has her hair cropped short. It's faded green. The boy has long hair. Held back in a tight braid. It's blue.
They strike up a conversation with Kelly one day. Mostly out of boredom. At one point talking about how they had been on their schools track team. Twin Terrors they had been called. They were the fastest in the entirety of their schools career.
They are the only two out of the group of engineers and scientists that could match her humor.
Kelly never sees them again after that. But she thinks about them often enough. About how they all shared the same accented voice.
About the day they all raced.
She won. Of course. But something about it made her feel like she was missing something. She matched it to the same feeling to her younger years with the rest of the ii's on Reach. On some of the few days they had true fun.
Linda was sent to therapy. Well. Not really sent. It was... Suggested. That she go.
Linda did. This time. For the first time. The last time.
She met an older man. Her elder by about three or four years. With the same red hair, that has streaks of white at the temples, and piercing green eyes.
Those eyes that looked at her like she does down the snipers scope. Those eyes that seemed to know her own.
She could see them widen. Hear the hitch on his breath as they flicker to a photograph and then back to her.
He...
Maybe she had seen him in passing once. Despite him never having been on this ship before.
He has been the one to pull the trigger.
"I don't think I'm the right match for you." His voice rumbled in a familiar way.
When she left. Linda tried to stop thinking about the worn, frames photo on his desk. The one with a boy. About eight or nine. With a shock of bright red hair. He held an archery trophy in one hand. In his other. The hand of a little girl. Close to five. With that same shock of red hair and green eyes that seemed to see you even through the cameras lense.
Fred meets a medic after a nasty injury. The Odst's and Marines in his company joke that he has as getting the best medic around.
He was a young man. Kind and deeply empathetic.
Those same Marines also joked about how the two of them could be siblings in a different life. With how they shared the same sloped nose and sharp jaw. The same, soft manner of speaking.
"Seriously Lieutenant. Just give the Doc the same hair cut. Could fool me that's for sure."
The medic said that he did have a brother. One that he has never met. That he had passed away a few months before he had been born .
But he and his parents visited his grave every year on his brother's birthday. And that this was the first year that he wouldn't be able to.
"He's be turning thirty three today." The medic had just finished Fred's stitches.
"Oh." Fred spoke it before it could be stopped.
"Oh what?" The medic had asked.
"I turned thirty three today." It was one of the few things he remembered. Something he rarely thought about. Because something around it had made his heart hurt.
"Here then. Happy birthday." The medic handed Fred a chocolate granola bar.

OKAY VASHWOOD KIDS ON THE HEAD THIS AFTERNOON HHNNG
While I do think that them having kids of their own is super cute and such a nice thing for them both, I am personally a Vash and Wolfwood adopting children truther. Best part is it was Not Even On Purpose.
The times are less aggressive, their lives are less violent (compared to before) and they are both a lot more free. They aren’t used to living a settled life, in spite of finally having a little home of their own at the outskirts of December.
They still travel around without an aim or clear purpose most often than not. They would visit old friends and the times they decided to stay in a place for a bit longer would either be at Home or the Hopeland Orphanage.
They like it that way. It’s familiar and they don’t have to watch for their heads as much as they did before. They are finally experiencing a much more gentler life of their own.
I imagine them stumbling with some kids, let’s say three, that live on their own in one of their trips. They offer to bring them to the Hopeland Orphanage like they usually do to orphaned kids, so they can live more peacefully. They accept after some more convincing.
During that trip they get to live a bit more closely with the children compared to the way they do with the kids back at the orphanage. They love them oh they do, with all their heart, but the closeness they experience with everyone at the orphanage is more of a caretaker sort of approach and nothing as intimate as taking care of them so personally.
The bumpy trip basically obligated them to be more close to the kids, spending nights and days with them, protecting them from danger, cooking meals for their little group of five, spending a few days in different towns to unwind and buy more resources. It was nice, traveling together like that (even if it did get a little dangerous every now and then when they stumbled upon a fight or two).
The kids start to get very attached to them, and both Vash and Wolfwood admittedly were feeling the same way too. They knew they couldn’t keep the kids, not with their wanderers life style and the danger that was still always present (not as terrible as before, but trouble would always be a part of them as it seemed).
Once they got to December to finally leave the kids at the Orphanage, they decide it’s a good time for them to have one of their long stays at the orphanage until their next trip. All of the kids love them both, and they return the sentiment as well. However, it’s evident how their closeness was bigger with the kids they just traveled around with. They knew a bit more about each other with more precision, they were a bit more affectionate with them, the kids would look for Wolfwood and Vash so they could spend more time together. It wasn’t rare for the kids to go and sleep with either of them at night or taking naps with them, but those three particular children would always sleep with them, all snuggled up and warm in their embrace.
It was nice, it almost felt like a little family of their own. Wolfwood remembers how nice it was to live in the orphanage with the other kids, and Vash loved his time with Rem and Knives when they were little, not to mention the people at Home later on, but neither of them really had a grasp of something in their lives they could call wholly theirs, something stable, something constant.
Their stay at the orphanage lasted from their usual month and a half to two months, and then three, until they thought it was a good time for some time of their own back at their little house (living with so many kids always around the corner didn’t provide much space for privacy, much less now that the three kids would follow them as if they were their shadows).
The kids were disappointed and a little sad that their time to leave had come already, even if they had stayed longer than what they usually did this time. Their three little kids were the ones that looked the most anguished from them all, and neither Nick or Vash missed that detail.
When they arrived to their home, they cleaned first, the dust had settled in their house and they could barely move without gusts of it coming to invade their lungs. After they quickly got rid of the most they could they finally got to rest and get some alone time of their own.
The days passed, and the quiet time between them was appreciated, but it felt a bit too quiet. They had quickly grown used to the noise that came with being around the kids in that short time. Maybe it was thanks to the fact that their lives were much kinder now, but something inside of them itched at the thought of not having the kids by their side, of not being together.
They knew what it was after sparing it a second to think of it a bit more.
“You know, I think it would be nice if we stay in here for a bit longer” Vash said out of the blue one day while they were making breakfast together, a soft and genuine smile hanging on his face.
“Yeah, I was thinking the same thing” Wolfwood answered back with a smile of his own, focused at chopping a portion of vegetables a bit too big for two people, it was probably enough to feed five mouths perhaps.

having a normal one about brad and birdie again
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
#no spoilers for definitive edition here because i haven't played definitive joyful yet and haven't gotten any new birdie content in painful#lisa rpg#i know that half the things i say about birdie are looking Too Far Into It#but also they give us another bearded b-named addiction riddled wreck ruining his life because he's haunted by the deaths of young family#members he feels he should have protected (one of whom even committed suicide) and you expect me NOT to go 'wait that sounds familiar'#honestly the 'like/love' parallel really gets to me because it's so throwaway and i don't know why it's THERE#terry and buzzo say that (and ofc lisa originates it) but that makes SENSE#they're both categorized as someone deeply devoted to someone in the armstrong family. ofc that parallel is made#but why BIRDIE#brad's shirt pattern when he's young is the same pattern as birdie's poncho too#god it's not even just brad#dustin's least favorite thing being 'letting people down' and birdie's being 'being a failure' ESP. with the context of his children like#and (prefacing this by saying i do NOT think birdie was at all the type of father marty was) there's even similarities to marty#like you're telling me the companion who visually looks most like marty is *checks notes* the alcoholic single dad whose kid killed themsel#like there are so many weird things that are canon traits of the armstrong family that you can also see in birdie it's WILD#i'm not even saying i think any of this is THAT intentional or deliberate. like i think having fathers that failed their children on brad's#team is an obvious and deliberate choice but i don't think all this minutia w/birdie was intentional. i acknowledge i'm a lil insane#(birdie has rosy cheeks like marty because they're both drunk. fly also has the same shirt pattern so it's recusing assets. i get it)#there's just a weird amount to pick at if you want to

Thinking about Raid Suit Sanji. He hated it. It's just one more thing that tries him to them. But the mask. The mask hides quite a few of his insecurities. His nose. The few scars he had on his face. The few teeth that had been knocked out either by his brothers or by getting into fights at the Baratie.
This is actually really good because it adds more angst to Sanji asking himself if he's more useful for the crew wearing the suit. And it just gives him another reason to try and wear it so he doesn't have to face his future. He says he's just using what the Germa gave him for their own good, but he's kind of still hiding himself from focusing on the future. Because, if he tries to move on from his past, who is he? He's afraid that the second he lets go of the Vinsmoke name again, he won't be able to do it completely. Like- He tried once and it ended up coming back. If he tries again, he's afraid that he'll turn into what he hates the most even without trying, so giving up and having control over it seems like a better option. If that makes any sense.
Besides, no scars. No broken nose. No imperfections to be seen that he hates so much. But it isn't himself.
And yes, okay, I always make it Sanuso because I have a disease called 'If I don't talk about Sanji and Usopp's bond every day I die' (also, it's called 'Being a fucking genius'). But this time it makes sense to mention Usopp because I think he'd be the only one understanding this. He'd be the only one understanding why Sanji is doing this and hating the fact that he hides behind a mask.
I pretty much think Usopp would end up telling Sanji that the suit isn't himself and that he can choose not to be like this. That if his past ends up haunting him again, suit or not, the crew will be here to support him no matter what. That he doesn't need to hide any of his scars or "imperfections" because that's what makes him himself, and Usopp, at least, finds it perfect the way he already is.

Tim jokingly sends Bernard:
Tumblr media
Basically every night, but one night, he forgets to, and at first Bernard doesn't think much of it, but he still texts Tim anyway because they always talk before bed and say goodnight to one another, but cause Tim silenced his phone during patrol, he doesn't answer so Bernard slowly starts freaking out. After a few hours of spiraling and no replys from Tim, he goes to the manor and sneaks in cause it's past Tim's 'allowed to have people over curfew' and when Tim isn't there (cause Tim is patrolling as Red Robin, hence the curfew), Bernard goes into full panic mode, and he finds Red Robin on the street and Tim, obviously worried about Bernard, asks what is wrong and Tim doesn't know whether to laugh at how funny the situation is (and how paranoid his boyfriend is) or cry over how much Bernard cares for him, and so Tim is like "of course I'll help you, let's not get dramatic, I am sure he is not dead, oh, I'm sure he's okay, probably even closer than you think" and now he can't take out his phone cause Bernard will recognize it, and they won't actually find Tim cause Red Robin is Tim, and so they just go on an adventure all night and by the end of the night, Tim finally tells Bernard, and Bernard doesn't know whether to break up with him because he saw Bernard going through panic attacks and freaking out and he still didn't say anything, or if he should hug him and tell him how he's so glad he's okay, or if he should bombard him with questions about superheros, supervillains, and the like. He settles for a hug, a free pass for something major, and a discussion on a rooftop over 24 hour minimart coffee (that tim had to pay for).
#tim: so you broke into my house without being caught#tim: my house that is protected heavily as we are both super rich and heroes so we have it everything from security alarmed to boobytrapped#bernard: oh it wasnt too hard; i know your family is targeted a lot and i also know if you were taken there would be traps to trip me up#so once you anticipate for it it is a breeze to get it#Tim: i think you will have to show me one night when i actually am home; you know obviously for safety reasons so we know weak spots#when alfred and bruce go to wake up tim one morning and find him cuddling with bernard they do a full interrogation#and when they find out how easy Bernard bypassed everything without help they have him test the new traps and security systems every time#and if he can get through it without trouble then his reward is he gets to sleep over (but the door has to remain open and they will get#checked on by Alfred throughout the night)#but Bernard gets through without trouble every time and they even think its Tim giving him insider information but they find out it is#just because Bernard 'conspiracy theorist' Dowd is prepared for everything#and so they literally get to spend every two weeks watching movies and hanging out all night just cause no security can stop Bernard#bruce had to move it to only weekends so Tim wouldnt be staying up all night on school nights watching movies with Bernard#he usually doesnt even see Bernard bypass security he just walks in 5 minutes later to find Bernard and Tim sitting on the couch together#tim drake#bernard dowd#timbern#timber

Unfortunately, Jesse's luck, and whatever divine providence has been watching out for him all this time, had just run out. He really shouldn’t have packed a white shirt as his backup. That had been asking for trouble.
@nade2308 I blame you entirely for convincing me I would enjoy this show and being right. I love the found team family, especially how Horatio seems to adopt everyone he works with, and of course, because Jesse is a precious sad puppy of a character, I can't seem to keep from making his life hurt even more...

every day webcomics are like “we will make a family/parental figure who is so neglectful and abusive but don’t worry! they’ll eventually realize the child they’ve neglected/abused is actually useful and change their ways!” and then we’re expected to forgive them
