still true about God

Our God has not changed.  The things that were true in the past are true today and will be true in the future.

Take a few minutes today and look through just a few things that we know about God and how He deals with us.  

Let me remind us that it is easy to be critical and negative, yet we are blessed.  Look at the blessings.  Thank God for the blessings.  Focus on what you have and not what you don’t have.  Focus on how you are living and not how you are hurting.

I am grateful that these things are true about God!

So we can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper, so I will have no fear.  What can mere people do to me?”

That is just a few verses that shore up what is true about God.  People in the past, like Biblical past, saw and experienced the same God and His work that we experience today.  Nothing is new under the sun, Solomon reminded us.

Why would we question who God is and what He does?  We question because the enemy is always out to kill us.  If he cannot destroy us, he will try to keep us too busy to connect to God.

May that not be true of us.  May we believe God and experience Him in big ways today!

I'm rewatching Steven Universe and I will never forgive Fandom for what it did to her

#also watching it at age 19-20 as it was released and experiencing the resulting clusterfuck online fandom response was a wild trip #im finally rewatching it again at 25 and really really feel lucky to have seen it at the age i did #i have completely different perspective on it now that i have 3 young nephews and a neice where before i was in college #the music is still as incredible as it was back then #and the animation #i cant beleive people got honestly and truly upset and violently aggressive about characters being off model sometimes #early stevens voice though kills me after awhile...... the yelling .... but his characters growth and development also being reflected in #his voice changing as he grows up #they also go crazy hard on some scenes #who am i kidding the show was a masterpiece and ahead of its time

THE CALLING With man, this is not possible. With God, all things are possible (see Mark 10:27). Jesus is saying, “Without Me, you can do nothing” (see John 15:5). Alone, and from our perspective, the assignment God gives us is in no way achievable. We cannot calculate it. We don’t have the connections, or the clout. Mathematically, we cannot monetize it. There is no business plan for it. The goal is nonsensical, yet we are pressured beyond belief right up to it. What doors we knock on will close in our face and we will fall down in mind, body and spirit. Nevertheless, it comes to us as if written on the ground—either do or die, because nothing else will work for us here. It is the thing we were born for. Leaders are cultivated by God only in the ground of an impossible dream. The vision you have will in no way work without an outright miracle from God. But if you study the Bible, that is precisely His point, precisely the place every out of the ordinary soul has had to get to to win God souls. This thing must be done on earth before you die, and no one else on earth but you can do it. Where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, maker of heaven and earth (See Psalm 121:1-2). From God’s perspective, it is not only easy, it is completed. Do not think for a moment that God will not test you severely today, that He will not allow storms and isolation just to see if you will get out of the boat, put everything on the line, and miserably try to stand and feebly walk just because it is really Him asking you to do it (see Matthew 14:22-32). Some would think this is too stressful for a loving God to do, but He saved you for a reason. There is a catch. He does get something out of it. If He did not operate in this manner, no one would have been there at the point of your salvation to minister to you, to pray for you, to hand you a book, to put you on to a preacher who finally made the Word make sense to you (see Romans 10:14). This is what God does because in our humanness, we all try to run from God’s call if we admit it or not (see the Book of Jonah). In God’s mercy, He won’t let us do that in our near-midnight hour. It is to our eternal credit. I have decided I would rather have a more difficult life here and bear God fruit, than have an easy life, get to Heaven and not recognize one soul I helped to get there. What about you? You see, some would think whatever God is calling you to, that it should not be so difficult. But deep down you know. You can sense the calm. You can hear His voice. And you know how to walk. You see, God believes in you so much, that He has called you to heights, lengths, depths, and breadths that you would never have attempted on your own (see Ephesians 3:18). You are not alone. You can rest, and watch the most miraculous of all things—God working His will out to the world through you. Go through the stress of the thing you are called to do, and you will find God is more real to you than ever. Just do it for the love of God. May God bless you.
