if you're comfortable, i would love to know more about the akechi npd headcanon. i think it's a rlly interesting take on his character and i wanna learn more abt npd bc i have bpd and ig im interested in what people experience with the other cluster b personality disorders? i just kinda wanna know why you think he has it and also maybe some of the mental stuff he has to experience with it. doesn't have to be detailed or personal i dont wanna make u uncomfy! i just cant stop thinking abt this hc haha :)

im actually on a mental health break right now, but this ask intrigued me so im answering it anyway. first off thank you for staying kind throughout the whole thing :)

its kind of hard for me to really describe why i think a character has/is something, because things like personality disorders are still a wide spectrum and every person experiences things differently, and i dont wanna make it seem like theres a one-way to have npd, but im gonna try anyway!

there is a site which helped me immensely throughout my self-diagnosis, so if you want to read more about the topic than what im gonna say here, here u go:

lets start simple and the thing that makes it most obvious to me: the engine room dialogue.

people with npd can heavily rely on other people for their self-esteem, because narcissists usually have a very low one. thats why they take on many tasks ("i was extremely particular about my life, my grades, my public image—so someone would want me around!") and might overwork themselves for more praise and acknowledgement ("you wanted to be acknowledged, didn't you? to be loved?") because its what they need to not constantly crash. a crash is something that happens when you dont get enough supply—which can be words of affection, praise, acknowledgement, etc—and you internalize it, doubt yourself, feel disgusting and generally you get to a really low point. this is just speculation, but i can see goro having a ton of those, especially during the time the phantom thieves get popular and he becomes public enemy nr 1. thats also why i drew him thinking "i really need supply rn but i'd rather die than ask for attention" because vulnerability is also a big thing people with npd can struggle with. we dont want to be seen as weak—our narcissism is essentially a shield, so we're seen as tough, when in reality, our egos can be very fragile.

one thing that the engine room makes very clear and also other interactions goro has with akira, is that hes very envious of others who have had it better than him. especially someone like akira, who was thrown away by society just like he was, was able to move past it, found friends and is acknowledged by many people. goro is jealous of it all, and thats the thing; people with npd can feel like they're supposed to be special ( and to me, with goro explaining how he got his personas, and how he often calls others stupid, its clear that he does feel that way about himself to a certain degree ) and anyone who threatens that status, anyone who seems much more special than we are is seen as a legitimate threat. its an ugly feeling and it can make us hate even those we love for some time.

this attributes to dysregulation of our emotions too. people with npd often feel their emotions, especially negative ones, way more intense than they actually should be and have difficulty calming down due to that. negative emotions often linger for a long period of time and its hard to move on so we hold grudges. now this might come to no surprise to anyone that goro is a very angry and sad person. especially in the engine room its clear that even after the others extend their hands out to him, its difficult for him to comprehend and he still acts rather mean and calls them idiots for trying to "save" him. when someone with npd is experiencing a multitude of negative emotions, it may cause them to avoid other people or act aggressive towards them because they feel trapped. theres many explanations as to why goro is the way he is in the 3rd semester, and i dont think only one of them has to be correct, but i do think that with the knowledge of whats happening ( like: being under the control of someone else again, or having to work with people who are unpredictable and who have seen you at your lowest point ) makes him act out to keep all of them, especially akira, at bay.

in the duel against akira—im sorry i cant really quote it, i just have a general idea of it in my head rn—i read what he says in a way that makes it clear that he struggles with a superiority AND inferiority complex, which sounds stupid at first i know, but its fairly easy to explain. like i already said, a narcissist's self-esteem is usually pretty low and we rely on others to know how to feel about ourselves. theres two traits of npd that are necessary traits to have: being self-centered and feeling entitled to good treatment, and seeking admiration from others/liking to be the center of attention. so there is some kind of superiority complex going on, at least thats what i would call it in goro's ( and my ) case. we can feel on top of the world in one moment, but once we have a crash or experience intense negative emotions, its back to being the worst human being on earth. i dont think its ooc to say that goro hates himself, as some like to claim he only ever thinks hes better than everyone else. i think that just attributes to harmful stigma. with everything goro experiences in life, coping with narcissism to hide a fragile sense of being just makes sense to me.

theres more i could probably add here but this thing is long enough as is. please do keep in mind that many of my headcanons for goro are me projecting—but that doesnt mean theres no basis for it in canon as well, as i've tried to explain here. at first i actually thought he could have bpd, but i dont know enough about it to really judge that—so it could still very well be that, or both, i dont really know how it works! im rather new to this as well, and at first i was scared of doing any research because npd is so heavily stigmatized. i wish there were more people like you, anon.

i love your in-depth response to the anon about rooting for finn to be queer and the difference between accusations of queer-baiting and excited speculation.

the main difference does seem to be entitlement, and public forums. for example, commenting on someone's literal social media post? rude. are they going to reply personally to you? no! but i think people honestly forget or dont care that the celeb can see that. they have something to say, and they think they have the right to say it. so they do.

so my main issue is being told i can't speculate amongst friends (which is what this blog often feels like) when we are pretty hidden over here. i certainly would never want to interact with finn or even comment on his posts, as i dont feel i have anything to contribute to his life. but i love to observe and wonder in my own space on the internet, because it does serve me to do that, and i am not hurting finn, which is what matters.

but lastly i will just say that the ambiguity of how we interpret things is maybe what freaks people out about speculation. for example, i had a hunch that noah was queer way before this debate and s4, but it didnt matter in my life so i wasnt boasting to anyone about being right when he came out. it wasnt about me! who cares what i thought? my hunch was also based on nebulous things that arent quantifiable and definitely would not hold up in a court of law (lol), so it also seemed trite to describe them.

whereas sadie simply saying she likes an artist who is queer, for me is very silly evidence because that essentially makes everything into a message, and if a large majority of the straight community realised that queer folk think them liking queer art made them queer, it would stop them liking that art (or rather, being open about how much they liked it), in case people started saying ooooh you must be queer! not that being queer is bad, but that the jump in logic is pretty large. its like saying oooh you've got a friend who is queer, you must be queer too! it was a wonder it didnt happen as much as it could have with queen in the 80s - the music was so good, people didnt care. same for elton john. but im sure plenty refused to listen based on the rep alone.

I personally am not queer, and if i had a platform of fans, and i said oooh i love boygenius, and some of those fans started thinking i was queer because of that, i would feel like they were reading too deeply. because my queerness would not be expressed through enjoying music, which is a universal thing. if they started to notice actual queer behaviours in me that i also acknowledged were queer, and i was questioning, i would be like ok, they've seen through me.

so as a straight person who is fascinated by modern (and older) queer culture, its kind of funny to me to see the ways modern queer folk interact with people who are unlabelled.

it seems to have gone from the old ways of safely finding others queers, like asking if theyre part of the family (which would have been an assumption based on instinct and vibes, and which was relatively easy to dismiss if they were in fact straight), to either demanding someone comes out, or relying on vague indicators of sexual identity, like someone's taste in music or even whether they wear rainbows.

these things might be big for the queer community, but they already have meanings in the straight ones, too. liking rainbows does not make you queer or even indicate you are queer.

of course, the queer community have used these ambiguous ways to find each other, but the whole point is that they remain double meanings in order to protect the secret language of queerness. 'are you family' means one thing to straights and another to queer folk, but now, in modern culture, lots of queer people seem to be insisiting that it MUST mean only one thing: gayness. for example, someone wearing rainbows? they must be gay. they must be flagging. despite the millenia-long history of the existence of rainbows and their popularity in pop culture.

in modern gay culture, many people seem to think they are entitled the queerness of others because they sense it. whereas back in the day, you get the sense that if someone did not respond positively to 'are you part of the family?' then you would leave them alone, not demand that they come out because they would be happier if they did so and lived their truth.

do you think this speaks more about the internet age than it does about queer culture itself? and can queer culture every be extricated from the internet age? can any modern culture, now? i love that young queer folk are living more freely, but it seems to have swung a horrible way, towards entitlement for a lot of people online. and all that does is make them unhappy when their faves dont come out. i understand that queer people are oppressed and need idols and role models more than straight folk. but you can still enjoy an artist's work even if they dont share your sexual identity, cant you? it might help to make your experience more universal if you can acknowledge that not everything is about sexual identity. we want gay love stories like stranger things to bring straight folk and queer closer, not divide them by making sure gay communities remain separate, surely?

Thank you for your thoughts! I hadn't really considered the straight perspective in all of this. You bring up a lot of interesting points, and I don't agree with all of it, but I don't necessarily disagree either.

You're right that sometimes rainbows are just rainbows and that, "These things might be big for the queer community, but they already have meanings in the straight ones, too. liking rainbows does not make you queer or even indicate you are queer."

I just had a vision of someone who is really into rainbows, putting them on literally everything, placing them in all their captions, placing them on all their bags, and everyone assumes they're flagging their sexuality. But then it turns out they're actually just a devout Southern Baptist, and they're really into the Noah's Ark story lol.

That being said, rainbows might be pretty universal, but I'd say there are symbols and clues that one might flag with that are very queer. And probably one or two of these things can be a coincidence. But just like with Mike's sexuality, it's not just one thing that clues us in but several subtle things piled on top of each other. And while of course "you can still enjoy an artist's work even if they don't share your sexual identity," there's a subtle magic when they do share it that I'd say can't be fully replicated by anything else.

The thing I find the most interesting about your message is your question, "Do you think this speaks more about the internet age than it does about queer culture itself? and can queer culture ever be extricated from the internet age? can any modern culture, now?" And I do think a lot of what you're critiquing is absolutely a part of the internet age in general. And it's not going away anytime soon.

The one thing I will clarify tho is that the Sadie Sink/girl in red thing is not a matter of her liking a queer artist but the context. At some point in like 2020 or 2021, "do you like girl in red?" actually became a very specific coded conversation/semi-meme for queer girls on TikTok.

So Sadie commenting I like girl in red btw on a girl's Instagram, followed by a winky face, is absolutely within that context. It's not about liking a queer artist, cause "I like Reneé Rapp" doesn't hold the same meaning even though they are both lesbians. And it's not even about liking girl in red as anyone can like her music (I love her music and I'm a guy), but about subtly communicating queerness in a specific way.

That being said, music/media in general ARE cultural signifiers that someone may be "safe," especially if there's a pattern. Like if someone's Spotify exclusively consists of boygenius and other similar artists, if they follow the Heartstopper cast on IG, and if their favorite films on Letterboxd are But I'm a Cheerleader, Bottoms, Carol, and Portrait of a Lady on Fire, that might be a sign lol.

one thing i've been trying to wrap my head around is: if hired help is still canon, but everything else relating to it is not then. what happened to the C.J?? does he just not exist? and for that matter where the heck Elvis? and does the witness stand-in still exist? idk is there a statement i'm missing?

literally in the first panels of hired help break the law is mentioned by name and we see elvis' missing poster but in my opinion almost everything seems to be leading to the clash crew trying to move on from this story possibly?

they possibly didn't wanna edit things out from the comic but since litigation team is still there i guess that hired help is still canon, but to be taken with a grain of salt? like aside from a meeting of two minds we only have 2 cog lore comics that are still deemed as canon and a meeting of two minds is

i believe ther never was a statement about this, aside from the article that mentions the writing team working on a complete re-write for the main taskline and also just.. the story in general and acknowledging how hard to access it is now and how confusing things have gotten

unfortunately with that it's in an even more confusing state now, so honestly it's just... about the wait until any other statements are put out or until any writing updates are released! i wish this was communicated a bit better but again i understand the crew is busy with mix and match and hammerspace currently. still, wish this was communicated better. unless i too, have missed a discord statement...?

it's a bit of a nightmare right now trying to just. solve what's currently canon and what's not. like we know for sure what's visible in game right now with the managers and a meeting of two minds and at least the april toons thomas dialogue stuff is canon (though with this i'd assume some minor old stuff thomas talks about may be tweaked...? again i have a re-read in order)

but anything to do with break the law and diane joining the company and cj leaving is questionable currently. which is... very confusing seeing that it's mentioned several times in hired help. i kinda analyzed that comic for myself just yesterday . especially this stands out

atticus wing is literally mentioned by name here and also the whole affect it had on cog insurance companies (and courtney and barry) is mentioned too. aside from thomas i don't believe we ever saw the full effect that atticus' death had on the cog world which always rubbed me the wrong way, since it was supposed to be kinda a big deal and now it's being put under the rug. and yet atticus still haunts so many parts of the story after. so like

(i think about this a lot and a part of my hc's ive been working on would rewrite atticus' death to have a bit more of an impact, while explaining how exactly he died and couldn't be repaired, while cogs who've gone through worse literally in-game through gags are rebuilt and repaired. though i'd need to re-read and re-watch old things for that, it's been a while... plus i've never seen actual content from the events this took place in myself, i wasn't playing toontown at the time, not even ttr!) uaurgh well done character in an admittedly (yet passionately put together) somewhat messy story . again i need to say this each time i criticize this i love the work staff does but i think it's only fair i get to be honest with my thoughts on these things as a fan. we're all just people here y'know

Is this about Noah being the Tom Holland of ST??

I think if this was about Noah’s identity or something substantial related to him personally, and not just a basic thing that happens in promoting content as an actor, that would be one thing. But this is literally just speculation about a cast-member in relation to what they are/aren’t revealing about the show publicly.

If fans were coming across private footage of Noah, with like friends without his consent, or if fans were like hacking his shit without his consent trying to come up with evidence based on that, yes that would feel invasive. But I don’t see how just talking about how his behavior in terms of publicly promoting the show, out in the open, in relation to other actors doing similar things to promote their projects, is weird?

But to be entirely fair, I know some fans completely separate their experience in the fandom from the actors, where some don’t even follow the cast or pay any sort of attention to their actions in relation to promotion, bc they just feel uncomfy about having any sort of association with them outside of the show? Which is valid to a major extent, especially just knowing how private a lot of actors are and would prefer that their everyday life not be intermixed with their work in a way they aren’t at all wanting fans to do.

I would say that when it comes to Noah specifically and what he posts in regards to the show, that’s just literal public knowledge he is offering up on his own, to the point where he is literally talking to fans directly by acknowledging them, and doing it repeatedly.

I personally would stick to instances of him clearly out in the public eye interacting with fans, knowing he’s doing so and comfortable with it, before I would feel the need to make a point about what it could/couldn’t mean, based on him being an actor with a job which usually requires some instances of keeping your mouth shut, or saying something with the guise that oops I’m not supposed to because it makes people feel like they’re in on a big joke, even though it’s actually quite the opposite.

I’m not gonna sit on here and go into all of Noah’s micro expressions he has or every detail of what he’s doing and what he means at any given point, especially if it literally has nothing to do with the show.

But if dude is on TikTok live spoiling stuff, only to end it with im gonna get in trouble, followed by just repeating over and over again, I’m just gonna respectfully assume that he is a professional and knows what he’s doing, and he wouldn’t put the show and it’s success in jeopardy. If anything I’m giving Noah the benefit of the doubt here to be doing something that is fairly common, bc the alternative would be that he’s careless and doesn’t think the rules apply to him which… I just don’t think is the case here.

If you’re someone who feels uncomfortable making any sort of post about the cast in relation to how they promote the show bc it feels weird to analyze a real persons actions, fair enough!

My main point in bringing it up was to remind ppl that Noah, just like all of the cast, are actors. I think people take EVERYTHING they say about the show as gospel, which is exactly what they want, so I fully respect wanting to just go with that so we don’t make their job harder for them? After all going along with the joke that he spoils things, just like fans did with Tom, is only actually funny to those who willfully believe everything he does is by accident when he goes online and talks about the show. It wouldn’t exactly be good for everyone to know he’s faking bc then it sort of defeats the purpose.

So yes we should try to keep this our little secret and not put him on blast over it.

In the future, we’ll just have to wait and see what he or the others are willing to reveal publicly about what they did/didn’t know while promoting the show over the years, if they’re even willing to share that knowledge. If and until then, all we can do is wait and see.

i don’t mean to catastrophize but i’ve felt that there’s something off about this leg so far. obvi the band sounds excellent & the ppl who go to shows are having a good time but i feel like theyre not having as much fun as they were on the other tours :( i guess it was the hiatus and the feeling of not knowing what comes after this but i’d hate for them to feel like this isn’t fun for them anymore

it's healthy to acknowledge your feelings so always do. but also know that a LOT of assumptions come into play here that influence both how you feel and how the band appears to feel. have you noticed there's a lot less videos and photos circulating this leg? especially of the guys who arent gerard. i follow the same people i did last leg -- the other guys were on my dash for more often then. amount and intensity get muddled up. like seeing less of your friends feels like it means theyre unhappy. also, how someone looks on stage doesnt reflect their mental state. people they care about passed away last year, but they still looked so happy around us. smiling slightly less on stage doesnt mean bad things are happening behind the scenes. just means theyre smiling slightly less. there are no hints here. it's not a murder mystery. it's just guys playing shows. and theyre obviously giving it everything. if im gonna put my speculative glasses on (knowing full well i know Nothing about them), theyre probably tired after doing 60+ shows in 6 months. they probably miss their families. they probably have other projects theyre itching to get to. maybe theyre stressed about taxes. lots of extra income! maybe it truly is just the lack of physical evidence. dont know.

reading all that, you know ive thought about this too. i acknowledge that i feel this way then i also acknowledge that im just afraid. fear lies. fear isnt the truth. i do not know the truth. they are the only people who can offer me the truth, and even that may not be the truth. THEREFORE the only truth that matters is the reality i perceive. if i can prove my reality is real, then that's my truth. so i treat these shows as the last thing they'll do lol. not because it's true but that's the reality that brings ME less anxiety. a known ending is less scary than an unknown future. this is one area in life i can choose the known.

that post about the Explosion was a way for me to understand the change i perceive in a good way. and i do think it's good. the happiness, passion, love, ENERGY is still so present. guess this is the actual marriage phase were the novelty of being in love fades. you just gotta keep loving. if you want to.

i tend to philosophize. also helps with anxiety. i hope this was helpful

hi storm! do you have any theories about jikook ever breaking up or going through tough periods? i know some jkers think they werent together during ON era and i was wondering what your thoughts were on if they ever were distant as a whole. its sad to think of that but i mean are we to assume theyve been perfect for 7 years? of course not! no couples are. so im curious are there any "eras" uve noticed something like that with them? :) thanks!

No, and I honestly think all those theories are ridiculous. 🙃 oops, sorry.

Look, those theories all get way too much into the k drama type of speculation for me. It takes the they are only human and humans are messy stuff too far in my opinion. Yes, couples fight. But fighting doesn't mean distant and broken up. Let's assume jikook have been an item for years now. OF COURSE they are going to have arguments. Big ones and little ones. Fights we of course are not going to be privy too. But all the behind content we have gotten from that era from memories just confirmed to me they were fine. They don't have to be eye f**king on camera constantly for me to think they are doing just fine or that they are fighting or have broken up. I've been with my husband for 11 years, married for 6 of those. Have we fought? Oh yes. Have we had very big fights? Absolutely!! Have we had tiny petty stupid fights? Yup. Have we had fights we laugh over later? Yes. Have we had fights that resulted in me leaving our apartment and sleeping over at my mom's house because I was so mad I needed to leave before saying or doing something stupid? Also yes. Have we ever broken up because of these fights? Nope, never taken a break or a pause or a separation. We fight, we communicate over it and we work through it. And then we come out the other end better for it and understanding each other better too.

The reasons they think they are dating cause of intimate off screen moment, couple items & posting a picture of same scenery or places .. Its saddened me how fans actually belive them and support them with out even solid evidence ( there is also haters.. Sadly alot.) But when it comes to ggdd us shippers are delusional. I want this world acknowledged their love but sadly its not that easy.. Can you share your opinion about this topic? I love how you talk about ggdd topic. I know a lot of international fans find the secrecy around GGDD's relationship, the fact that it's scoffed at, etc. upsetting, but it's actually not always a bad thing.

Fake, fan fiction, CPN.

There are many reasons why some romances are taken more seriously than others, and also many reasons why GG and DD are mostly kept pretty low key. I talked about some of those reasons a while back.

I urge fans not to feel burdened by any of that. Remember that it's not in GGDD's best interests for their relationship to be fully public and verified. While they share what they can and I'm sure they really appreciate the support of BXG, the limits to what they share and to what is known about them are there for their own protection.

Similarly, if they aren't seen together publicly, it's because it's not safe for them to be seen together publicly, even as friends. Let's respect their safety and privacy and trust them to make the right judgment calls for their own careers/lives. More on that here.

So there are always going to be people out there who think we’re idiots, who don’t understand what we’re here for, who scoff at the idea of GGDD being a couple, and who don’t understand where we are coming from. There are always going to be haters and antis. The best way to deal with that is to block and ignore, and stay in our own lane (i.e. avoid solo spaces).

As for whether GG and DD will ever come out publicly, I don’t think it will happen anytime soon. Not because they’re queer, but because they’re major stars in Asia, and at that level of celebrity there is a need to maintain an illusion of romantic availability. It’s part of how stars are marketed to the public. Any appearance of being in a relationship can jeopardize a star’s career.

All of the choices they make about their public image aren’t just about them as individuals. Every choice impacts the livelihoods of many people. If something negatively affected their careers, it wouldn’t just hurt GG and DD, it would hurt everyone they employ, it would hurt their endorsement brands, it would hurt their projects and everyone involved in those projects, it would hurt the networks or platforms who pay for the rights to their projects, etc. etc..

Revenue lost for GGDD would mean revenue lost for a lot of other people.

So these decisions aren’t just personal ones, they’re business decisions as well. GG and DD might be willing to stick their necks out themselves in some ways, but they’re both the kind of people who would never want to do something that could harm others.

That’s why I think that while they seem to be fine with their relationship being an open secret in the backstage world of the industry, they are unlikely to ever court scandal by making it public or official. At least, not anytime soon.

soulmates! (2)

soulmate!au BECAUSE IM WEAK. YOU'RE WEAK TOO.

characters: ganyu, kaeya, thoma ➡ mentions: cloud retainer, ningguang, adelinde, diluc, crepus, rosaria, traveler warning(s): like- just one swear

part one: (bennett, zhongli, diluc)

ganyu: can see footprints where soulmate has recently stepped on. if followed, they will be lead to their soulmate. sort of like "hot and cold" cold if you're far and hot if you're close

she knew she is a very busy person. she surprises herself when she asked ningguang for a day off.

"you want a day off?" she remembers ningguang's composed face deteriorate and herself doing the same thing.

ningguang let her rest for two weeks even if ganyu had only requested one. now she has so much free time.

the first thing she did was sleep, but she couldn't- not when she spots purple footprints.

as part adeptus with one heck of a good eyesight, she always assumes that the footprints on the ground are because of her eyesight, but cloud retainer says otherwise.

"child, you have a soulmate system of which," the old bird starts. "where one has the ability see where one's soulmate has been, and if they've been there recently."

blue footprints that fade away means her soulmate had left a long time ago. red-ish-orange footprints mean that her soulmate is very close by, but it's never been that colour in her eyes.

ganyu strolls along the grassy plains of liyue, admiring all the sweet flowers. she lightly touches her horns, a habit she got from being awoken from naps on a field of sweet flowers.

the footprints were purple, which is the closest to red ganyu had ever gotten. blue is the colour she always sees like her vision, her hair, the waters of liyue, and the glazed lilies.

the purple is also as beautiful.

"fate will bring two together at the right moment. thou need not rush." ganyu can hear cloud retainer say, so she didn't run after the footprints.

the half-adepti thrums her fingers on her leg, unsure what to do with all the free time given to her. she supposes she can head back to liyue and have tea with madame ping.

meeting madame ping confuses ganyu. the elderly woman keeps asking of her soulmate system and if she's met them.

"ganyu, have you met them?"

"ganyu, why not chase after them?"

"ganyu, ganyu ganyu-"

ganyu politely sets her teacup down, "i have yet to find them."

madame ping chuckles in her elderly woman way, like those smug elderly women who know more than others but will act clueless to amuse them.

"you know, i have a special gift, some speculate it as a curse, but i think it's wonderful," she said, pouring more tea for ganyu. "i have the ability to see red strings that connect soulmates. i can connect, i can break connections, but i can't see my own."

ganyu frowns slightly, "have you met yours?"

"no, but it makes me happy seeing the strings connect with people," she blows on her tea to make it cooler and turns her head to avoid looking at ganyu.

"madame ping, why-"

"you," a person behind ganyu seethes.

meekly, ganyu turns around and finds someone glaring at her. "may i help you?"

"ganyu, right? why do you always walk so fucking fast. i can never catch up to you when i see your footprints, and you're always going from place to place. one moment you're in liyue, the next your in somewhere like fontaine or something. it's like you're spiderman."

ganyu's jaw goes slack, "you're my soulmate?" she looks at the ground, seeing red footprints of where her soulmate had just walked. she now understand why madame ping kept asking her about her soulmate, because madame ping knew her soulmate was going to meet her.

ganyu clears her thoat, standing up to offer her soulmate a seat, "would you like to join us for tea?"

her soulmate blinks, and looks at the tea set then back to ganyu, "sorry, i didn't mean to intrude your tea party. i'm [name]."

"hello, i'm madame ping," the woman speaks "and your soulmate is ganyu. have tea."

ganyu stifles a laugh and sits on a chair next to her soulmate. "i apologize for walking too fast."

kaeya: he hears what his soulmate sings

at first kaeya thought he was going crazy when he kept hearing music in his head.

"dad!" he cried, forcingly rubbing away the tears that fell down his cheeks. the kids near the winery had come over and played with him and diluc, and that was when the first notes started. it never bothered him. he brushed it off until it became a full sound of a voice and a song.

not understanding scared kaeya to death. he always knew something, but this is the first where he doesn't know. he felt like he was going insane with this voice in his head, singing in his head; a voice that wasn't his.

"dad!" he called out again more desperately. diluc held him by his side, worried for his brother.

"father!" dliuc called this time, "father, kaeya's feeling sick."

diluc brought in kaeya, rubbing his back in attempt to comfort him. he saw adelinde and waved to her.

adelinde gasped when she spotted the blue-haired boy sobbing. she dropped her feather duster on the shelf she was dusting and dropped herself next to kaeya, inspecting of there were any wounds on his skin.

"kaeya, dear. what's the matter?" she quietly tells diluc to get his father in the wine cellar and gently pushed kaeya to take a seat near the fireplace.

diluc silently obeyed and ran, unlocking the door that led to his father.

kaeya hiccupped, unable to form words.

adelinde hushed him. her motherly fingers soothed his head, "what's wrong? breathe with me, dear. just until your father gets back."

she inhaled and exhaled in a steady manner for kaeya to follow. the boy shakily did the same. he did it a few more times, inhaling and exhaling slowly with adelinde. he calmed down. the crying stopped and his breathing was normal again. adelinde took this as another chance to ask him what's wrong.

"are you ready to tell me?"

kaeya blinked the tears off and gripped his clothes to stop himself from crying again. "it's happening again. i- i don't understand miss adelinde."

adelinde placed a hand over kaeya's for him to know she was listening. "what don't you understand?"

"i keep hearing things. i always hear a voice that isn't mine in my head-" kaeya sputtered.

diluc and crepus open the door from the cellar. crepus' face etched with worry when he spotted kaeya crying to adelinde. diluc had told him as much as he could but all the information he gathered was kaeya started covering his ears and crying.

"-all the voice does is sing and sing. i don't even like some of the songs it sings! i don't- i don't know," kaeya stammered, not noticing the two others that joined. "i don't know what happening to me. i'm scared."

crepus smiled at adelinde and nodded to her, signaling that he can handle it from here. adelinde gave a grateful nod and brushed herself off the floor to continue her duties.

"my boy," crepus smiles, kneeling in front kaeya to see him better. he brushed his face with a thumb and hugged him. crepus chuckled when kaeya hugged him tighter.

"my boy," the man continued with a knowing smile on his face. "that's your soulmate system. you can hear them singing if they sing as they can hear you singing when you sing."

kaeya lets go from crepus' hold and sniffled his tears away, "what? but isn't a soulmate system when things fall on you?"

diluc from the back of the room silently listened in, also confused as kaeya. didn't everyone have the same soulmate system?

crepus pats kaeya's shoulders, "we all have different ways to know who our soulmate is. yours and diluc's soul systems are different from everyone."

"master crepus is right." adelinde piped in while dusting off the dust on the shelves. "my soulmate system is a countdown to when i'll meet them."

kaeya looked at the woman shocked, "so not everyone has things falling on them?"

"correct." crepus raved, "but unlike diluc's soul system, instead of things falling on me, it appears on my hand for my soulmate system."

diluc eyes his brother, picking up a stray book on a chair and handed it to adelinde to help her.

kaeya pulled a cheeky grin and pointed to diluc, "diluc's eavesdropping."

the said boy gasped and turned his body around to make it look like he was doing something busy.

crepus bellows a laugh, "so what song is your soulmate singing?"

to be frank, kaeya had no idea what his soulmate sang that day. it was random words jumbled together. in fact, most things his soulmate sings are songs he has never heard before. it progressed from simple tunes, but now kaeya feels like his soulmate might be a song composer.

when he was younger he'd brag to diluc saying "my soulmate sings so well! what does your soulmate sound like, hah!"

to which diluc would respond with

he grins, swirling his wine around the glass as he watches a stack of papers hit diluc's face while bar tending on the first floor. kaeya clinks his glass on the table, watching people enter and leave the tavern from above.

today, his soulmate sings a song he's heard of.

'the wellerman,' and judging from the pauses and missing lyrics, kaeya safely assumes his soulmate was singing a duet with someone.

"soon may the wellerman come, to bring us sugar and tea and rum!"

kaeya hums the next few notes, never singing. after hearing his soulmate sing for the first time, his thought was to never sing- not when his soulmate could be a billionaire for singing with their voice.

only on occasions he would sing to let his soulmate know he was there.

he finishes the last sip of his wine and descends down the tavern stairs, raising a hand to acknowledge rosaria drinking in the corner. he airily chuckles, seeing diluc scrunch his eyes at the papers in front of him instead of looking at kaeya.

kaeya pushes the door open, humming along to the song his soulmate sings. he strolls by the alleyways, waving a hello to flora and a couple dogs that bark at his feet, scratching behind its ears.

he hears a bard singing at the plaza and saunters towards the music, climbing up the stairs and his frame almost freezes when seeing someone acting out to the song playing in his head.

good hunter's table tips over with a person on it. they land smoothly to the ground with a grin while singing with a resident bard.

"one day when the tonguing is done, we'll take our leave and go," they sing with so much melody and soul. the bard in green rumbles with cheer, raising his hands and dancing with the other with an arm latched around another.

kaeya watches, mesmerized by the singing and clapping around the plaza. he claps along and laughs when the bard drags his friend up to the walls of the fountain, singing louder.

the makes eye contact with the singer and waves. the singer waves back, unaware of what kaeya now knows.

soulmates.

he clued the pieces together and admired his soulmate from a distance, not wanting to disturb the performance.

"she'd not been two weeks from shore, when down on her a right whale bore!" the bard sings in glee.

kaeya quietly sings the next part, blending with the crowd. the whoops and cheers grow louder, chanting for his soulmate to sing the part kaeya sand under his breath, but to his surprise his soulmate tenses.

"WAIT! stop!" they hush the crowd with a hand and confuse everyone, "my soulmate's singing! but they're a bit too quiet. they never sing so shh, this is rare!"

the people murmur, watching kaeya's soulmate covering their ears to hear him clearer. kaeya grins, taking this opportunity to sing out loud.

"soon may the wellerman come to bring us sugar and tea and rum!" kaeya waltzes in front of the people who create a pathway for him.

his soulmate's eyes snap to him and he steps up next to them, standing on the fountain. the bard grins, and cheers. the crowd follows his cheer, watching their cavalry captain sing to his soulmate.

kaeya takes his soulmate's hand and presses a kiss on the back, "hello darling, i'm kaeya."

his soulmate doesn't hear him talking, no. they hear music when he speaks. though, kaeya's introduction threw them off, who's to say they couldn't return the gesture.

"a pleasure to meet you at last," they place a hand over their forehead for drama. they grin taking kaeya's waist closer to them and whisper in his ear, "you have a marvelous voice."

mondstadt had never seen kaeya at loss for words and a blush rising his face.

thoma: you taste the same things your soulmate tastes, no matter how strange- even when you're already eating something else

for most times, you were envious of your soulmate for eating the most lavishing food- food only one with money can get. you so desperately wanted to try the food they ate.

you didn't know what they ate, but only knew of the taste. sometimes it clashes with what you eat, like one time you ate an orange while your soulmate started toothbrushing. it wasn't very pleasant to say the least.

you were minding yourself, gathering food for your dinner until you taste something horrible.

wtf is my soulmate eating

it is a vile taste on your tongue, and no amount of water can wash the taste off. you try rinsing it, you tried eating something with a stronger taste, but no matter what, the thing your soulmate ate just stays there. it's disgusting.

you buy anything sour to un-taste what you tasted, and it still doesn't work. walking nearby a tea house, you see a man of blonde, clutching his stomach and laughing at a traveler from afar. call it fate, because it probably is, you know by the second he says his stomach hurts, he is your soulmate.

you point at him with a pointed glare, "what on earth did you EAT?!"

you take a bite of a sliced purple melon in your hand and the man in front of you widens his jade eyes, noting the food you're eating and the blooming taste on his tongue. the traveler next to him knits their brows, looking between you and their friend.

"thoma," the traveler calls. "who's this?"

thoma looks at you apologetically and sheepishly rubs the nape of his neck. "hey? i did it to win a contest... i couldn't let my pride down." he pauses, looking at you, "forgive me?"

you wanted to throw a punch on him, but you knew he had it worse with a bad aftertaste and a stomach ache.

you sigh, pinching the bridge of your nose. and place a mischievous grin, "take me on a date with food that's actually good, and then i'll think about forgiving you."

Mars in the 6th house- Ok first off, i cant lie, this placement is a lil difficult. But it doesn’t HAVE TO be. So this person is in constant need of routine, organization, and discipline. @kin anon i understand you trying to draw a distinction but i think a huge part of context you may be missing is that you cannot separate the rise of "irl" with the rise of attributing kinning in a "but no really i swear im this thing" way to many many people saying that it was a symptom of psychosis

like yes irl was a term that was supposed to mean "no no really its serious im this irl" to distinguish from the concept of kinning as it had been understood but it quite literally was hand in hand with people attributing these beliefs no longer to a spiritual thing or some odd (subculturally accepted) belief and instead attributing it to psychosis incorrectly for a lot of reasons you could speculate on pretty easily.

dont get me wrong i dont think those people are even particularly malicious but i think that i would disagree with the idea that many people who define themselves as "irls" are actually psychotic or delusional, as someone who is speaking from a psychotic and delusional frame of reference, the insistence that if you believe "insert strange thing here that the subculture you're active in supports and acknowledges as normal" then you must be psychotic and you must be delusional which is an incredibly heavy claim to declare for both yourself and anyone else who has alternative beliefs (granted i do think that an end result of "if everyones psychotic.....then no one will be" is really funny and technically literally how psychosis is defined as being "accepted" or not) additionally im not disagreeing with you that words mean things, the post about radical inclusionists was more about pointing out the irony that after trawling through dozens of bios and carrds the trend (for who are arguing that kin means a Specific thing, wont you please use another word, its hurtful to take this word from people who have been using it to mean this for years) was that the majority of them ALSO commonly stated that they forgo believing in "words mean things" in favor of "identify how you want if you feel like it fits" and the irony of many of those people actually in fact having a line in the sand about words meaning things and that perhaps they are not radically inclusive so much as many people who claim to be that are just pretending that their line in the sand is the most progressive and correct of all of them like im not arguing either position really it was more of just a statement of "oh a lot of these people arguing this commonly actually make it a point of their loudly proclaimed politics to declare something completely different" also if it helps i have been kinning since 2016 and i can absolutely promise you i understand the history and use of the word and that i was there for huge portions of the subculture developing because i was pretty active in it as it was happening, like i appreciate the history lesson but i was definitely online and doing the things you are describing to me as to what "kin is" and i’ve got posts going back to 2016 in specific tags outlining my understanding of kin and how i participated in the beliefs that will pretty much match what you said but with a caveat that i, like many others at the time and also today, felt that kin could be described as a spectrum that ranged anywhere from “i like this” to “i am this on all levels”

chapter 135

what preparations is utahime making? like i’ve mentioned before, i theorize that she needs to charge up in order to use her technique. since momo and the other kyoto students are fighting on the front line to buy time for utahime, i believe that they trust that their teacher’s ability can help turn the situation around.

what do the students think of her? do they think she’s weak?

chapter 128

mechamaru manipulates the circumstances in a way that allow him to keep the kyoto people away from danger. this has more to do with how much he cares about his classmates and his teacher rather than seeing them as incompetent sorcerers who can’t hold their own. notice how he says “EVEN utahime”.

chapter 128

kamo thinks mechamaru doesn’t have that much faith in the Kyoto students—but this isn’t true at all! he knows who the enemy is and has a grasp of how dangerous they are. he just wants to keep his friends safe. besides, kamo is a semi-grade 1 sorcerer which means he’s more than capable of defending himself against curses. but since he’s being kept safe too, it suggests that this is not a matter of keeping weak people away from fighting :)

chapter 41

this seems a bit off topic but let’s talk about the misogyny in jujutsu society. momo points out to nobara that the women from the zenin clan are expected to be perfect. the misogyny runs so deep to the point where some women aren’t allowed to even fight. you may think that this is just about the zenin clan but it’s about society as a whole. that’s why nobara responds to momo in a more personal sense. she doesn’t care about the boys versus girls issue because she embraces all aspects of herself. she loves herself when she’s strong, and she loves herself when she’s dressed up and beautiful. if it only applied to the zenin family then nobara wouldn’t have responded the way she did.

in the chapter before, nishimiya explains, “even if a girl has skills, if she’s not cute, she’s looked down upon. of course, if she’s only cute with no skill, it’s the same. women sorcerers aren’t expected to be skilled, they’re expected to be perfect.”

some of the female characters in jujutsu kaisen apply to this. for example, maki and mai. they’re looked down upon because one can’t use a cursed technique or see curses, while the other’s cursed technique is weak. in chapter 148(?) naoya says the only thing maki had going for her was her face, but it’s ruined now so she’s nothing. the zenin twins fall under the “cute but not skilled” category in jujutsu society. before we can put utahime into a category, let’s examine mei.

i promise this will all connect so please bear with me LOLLL let’s move on to mei. we find out that mei has the ability to control crows. she deems this ability as weak because it’s simple and doesn’t have much attack or defense power.

she convinces herself that a sorcerer’s worth doesn’t revolve around their CT. by following this ideal, she soon found herself at her limit because you can only hone your physical abilities to an extent. she said she was crushed because she thought that her weak CT would forever stunt her ability to grow as a sorcerer. but because of all the training she did in order to not rely on her CT, she was able to combine her physical prowess with her technique to make what’s best of her ability to control crows.

mei is an example of a perfect woman based on the standards the jujutsu world has established for women. although she has a weak technique, she makes up for it with adept use of weapons and physical prowess. she found a way to incorporate this “weak” ability to make it something strong. she’s beautiful and powerful so therefore, she was promoted to be a grade 1 sorcerer. she is what a woman is expected to be in order to be acknowledged by others.

what about utahime? why couldn’t she follow the same footsteps as mei?

i can’t answer that because we don’t really know much about utahime so far. i can only speculate why. being a grade 2 sorcerer at 20 is not bad at all. but why is she stuck as a semi-grade 1 sorcerer at 31? that surely proves she’s just weak, right?

semi-grade 1 sorcerers are sorcerers who have performed well on missions with a person accompanying them. i feel like when utahime was on a mission to exorcise a grade 1 curse on her own (the final step of the grade 1 promotion process), something happened that gave her her scar and made her unable to fulfill the mission. it’s either that or she did complete the mission but her appearance is too unsatisfactory. can you recall what nishimiya said? if you’re cute and not skilled, you’re not good enough. if you’re not cute and skilled, you’re still not good enough.

in men, scars are a symbol of honor and strength. on the other hand, scars on a woman’s face are seen as an imperfection. as a result, those who are scarred are deemed imperfect and unsuitable for marriage.

gojo hates the way things are run because the higher ups are so close-minded. they make decisions on a whim and have no compassion for sorcerers who are breaking their backs on their orders. he wants to change jujutsu society for the better by raising the next generation of sorcerers to be as strong as him. the old-fashioned and narrow-minded attitude of the higher ups leads me to believe that utahime is stuck as a semi-grade 1 sorcerer because she is viewed as imperfect. utahime’s scar is most likely the reason contributing to her being held back. who would want to promote a woman who isn’t beautiful enough to be a grade 1 sorcerer?

she obviously has a lot to offer because she’s a teacher at Kyoto. todo, a grade 1 sorcerer, has never shown any sign of disrespect towards utahime despite the fact that he surpassed her in rankings. he trusts in her and believes she has some things she can teach him.

can we additionally address the fact that gojo respects mei? he refers to her as mei-san and says that there’s no way she’d cry because she’s strong. mei has a weak technique though? 🤔🤔🤔 controlling crows?!?!?! nah im jk, mei is strong with and without her technique, of course. since gojo respects someone like mei, a person who doesn’t have an out-of-this-world technique, i believe his view of someone strong isn’t solely based on their technique. when he calls utahime weak, he may not be insulting her CT. it’s just all jokes because in chapter 65, geto and mei join in on the fun too and pick on her. mr. hot shot knows that utahime is a valuable asset to his plans so he entrusts her with the task of unearthing the traitor(s). if she was so incapable of such a thing, why did he pay mei to do the same job? 🤔

*a lot of people think mei was actually paid by gojo to promote his students but that’s incorrect. it goes against everything gojo advocates for. he wants his kids to enjoy their youth because his was taken away. being a sorcerer is not a smooth job and no matter how many years you’re in the profession, it never gets easier. he doesn’t wish for his students to be thrust in a world full of hardship and loss, which is why he was so against yuuji and yuta’s execution. he works hard to preserve the innocence of his students. he doesn’t want yuji’s heart to break, not even once. why would he pay mei to promote his students to grade 1? that would automatically strip them of their innocence and youth and push them into a world full of burden and pain.

PHEW that was long. how does this all tie back to utahime’s future role in the story?

her CT will probably come in clutch in an important battle

she might be the one to help get gojo out the box (A REACH i know)

she will help gojo with his plan to overthrow and change jujutsu society as a whole

i don’t really have to dive into the first bullet point. as for the second one, look at what i found!

in the second opening, utahime is seen searching for something in a dim forest.

*i read an analysis about opening 2 and apparently this just symbolizes her looking for the traitors. that makes sense too.

in chapter 144, this scenery pops up right before they enter master tengen’s base(?) the branches are thicker than in the opening but it gives the same vibes to me. i think utahime will be the one to break gojo out.

why utahime? well, gojo is their best shot at stabilizing whatever the fuck is going on right now. she knows it’s a crime to unseal him, but she wants her students to be safe so she’ll probably risk it. plus, gojo’s flashback starts with him breaking utahime and mei out of a building with a barrier. i think utahime breaking gojo out of the prison realm will make a perfect parallel :3

that theory is a massive ass pull I KNOW. it’s just fun to think about. it’s likely that kurusu hana will be the one helping yuuji and megumi out with that.

if utahime isn’t the one freeing gojo, she will definitely come face to face with the other traitors.

ive read numerous Reddit threads and tons of users think she’ll play a small role in the story—nothing too significant. i’m perfectly content with that as well. i never expected her to be gojo level or anything like that LMAOO. as long as we get to see her technique in action, i will be satisfied 😮‍💨

Yoko threatening suicide happened more than once. She threatened to commit suicide if John didn’t sponsor her art in the beginning & she threatened to commit suicide if John continued to have a relationship with Julian. This was after the Kyoko kidnapping situation hence why John didn’t see or contact Julian for almost 3 years.

Threatening suicide is manipulative emotional blackmail. Everyone talks about John’s mental health but no one has ever seriously talked about Yoko’s mental health issues. She did try to kill herself after her first marriage collapsed and was in a mental institution.

Assuming anons claims are true (I don't think you're lying btw anon, but I just like to have sources before I make any sweeping statements), I agree! And its a point ive actually been trying to illustrate for awhile!Threatening suicide can be symptomatic of BPD, and while thats not a mental illness I believe Yoko struggles with*, its still telling us that we should be recognising her as a mentally ill individual. That doesn’t mean anyone has to like or forgive her, because similar to what I was saying here (x), forgiveness and whether reparations suffice is a personal choice. But we should at the very least recognise some nuance and empathy regarding Yoko, rather then just totally vilifying her.

(*Im not ruling that diagnosis out entirely, but in speculating on her mental health I just see other disorders as better evidenced - though I do admit im not the most knowledgeable when it comes to Yoko.)

After posting this quote (x) a lot of people have responded with a lot contempt towards Yoko, and whilst I do understand that point of view, and I don’t think people are wrong in being disgusted by her behaviour there - I just cant help but feel somewhat sympathetic for her. She was such a mentally ill individual, who perhaps had such a fear of abandonment or a compulsive need to control that she felt compelled to threaten/attempt suicide. It is an abhorrently manipulative and abusive tactic, and I understand the immediate disgust in reaction - but at the same time, I can acknowledge that this abusive behaviour came as a product of mental illness.

A lot of us have empathy for John because although he was inarguably abusive, I think we can understand that this was a result of his own instability and immense insecurity. Without justifying any of Johns abuse, I can still empathise with him in the sense that I understand what its like to be confused and cruel and disorderly - and I can understand that the pain we often cause others is just a result of our own.

I just think we can often be very quick to entirely dismiss Yoko's mental instability, rather then analysing her the same way we do with John. At the same time though, I admit that im a bit of a hypocrite in saying that - its not as if ive analysed her psychology in the same depth as I have with Johns. But I guess my point is that we perhaps generalise when we just call Yoko “evil” and don’t attempt to find any understanding within her. There just appears to be an innate hypocrisy in allowing nuance in examining John, whilst disallowing the same for Yoko (I know ive linked so many of my posts already, but like, yup made this point here (x) lmao)

But also as ive said here (x), I think that there are reasons why many of us can get past Johns history of abuse but not Yoko’s - namely, John showed remorse over his actions, and eventually grew as a person, and took full accountability for his wrong-doings. Many people would argue that Yoko has not done the same.

As I mentioned here (x) and here (x) Yoko was always in competition with Paul. As she invokes in her own words, she's a replacement, albeit she claims she's a replacement for Stu here, but I believe she was intelligent enough to recognise she was also a replacement for Paul in 1968. None of that means she was right to threaten suicide, but it really just speaks more so to my broader argument that the John&Yoko relationship was just unhealthy from both behalf’s. Both parties were using the other as a vessel, and it was not a relationship built on solid and loving grounds.

why are people talking about jensen and misha getting doxxed? is there more serious and/or personal info being shared now or do they mean mishas text semi confirming for a lot of people what they speculated about, combined with things they already knew?

im personally of the opinion that if they truly wanted to hide and no one outside their personal lives to know anything, they'd manage to keep things totally private and definitely wouldn't be making jokes and innuendos they do, so I don't think by "shipping" or acknowledging there's ~something happening there, that we're intruding (obviously as long as no one brings that outside of fandom and especially not to them). that said, i do think that fandom spreading things that obviously weren't widely known or even assumed is imo straddling the line.

Nah, they're conflating the fact that at one point Misha and Jensen *got* doxxed to verify the info cockles fandom had found out by other, more harmless means, which Misha just kinda put out there on main. So now they're like UR DOXXING THEM/POSTING DOXXING INFO and it's like no sweetie. You haven't seen their utility bills yet, I promise we're not posting the doxxing info.

Watch, now they'll say me even mentioning that after they've been flooding my inbox is posting the doxxing info and like, you can't have it both ways while pretending info the fandom could have posted about YEARS ago from their OWN OBSERVATIONS BY INCIDENT are doxxing after waiting until Misha openly tweeted about it and then go "oof now you mentioned the THING?" like go away. There's a level of concern troll here that's out of pocket. If they didn't want it talked about Misha wouldn't have talked about "the last time" at Jensen's apartment, which unto itself says that there were more times, much less common sense brain function saying that if there's fond nostalgia about it that he misses, it wasn't exactly a rare occurance and A FUCKTON OF US BEEN KNEW.

Not like knew. KNEW. Like capital Knew. The rumor that spread in fandom at large also had a bundle of people directly given the information that more than verified it years ago. What fandom got was a loosely distributed candy pack to make sure more confidential details didn't get out (those ones still haven't) while giving the veil of plausible deniability as a mere rumor.

could you do an analysis on a sylph of light? and/or perhaps on the differences between a sylph of light and a maid of light? or perhaps the active/passive pair you speculate the sylph to be a part of? apologies if this is too much, im just very curious and currently trying to figure out my class ^^;

Its not too much! I'm kinda hyper-fixing on my own aspect anyway, so this works for me. Its actually a fairly easy ask to answer.

I'm sure you know and are sort of realizing already where these two classpects overlap enough to conclude you fit one of them based on how this ask is worded. So I will get the main question of how to properly decide a bit easier out of the way: The key difference is that while a Maid will act on curiosity by going out and asking questions and think they don't know enough, a Sylph will tend to think they already know exactly what they need to know from what they are given, and unlike a Seer or a Mage, this is usually even when they actually don't.

Maids will simply calmly go with the flow (Aradia as an example, Jane at first; with her natural love of cooking and giving and sharing this to friends indirectly sharing her life with them through creation), and tend to just naturally gravitate into their aspect and even create and redistribute their aspect. For Maid of Light, this will be through often giving out and pushing knowledge to others, but maids arent normally abrasive people- they prefer to allow how they might naturally behave be the catalyst to get what they prefer to happen, happen. "Creating" knowledge within a group of friends by just naturally wanting to show what they have learned that might accidentally be super useful to have good outcomes for things later for others. Maybe they are the type of person to give their friends a book on some seemingly odd interest of theirs, and for the fucks of it the friend decides to actually read it ir still keep it, and turns out later the knowledge becomes super convenient for them or the book becomes a weapon to hit a boss in the game with in order to progress further into a story line.

Sylphs on the other hand, are way more pushy and direct about things; maybe even a lot more self aware of what they are doing and why they decided to do something that winds up being important later and they want to be important so they try to do so on purpose for better or for worse kinds of results. However, as Aranea is a huge example of, they actually have zero idea whether how it will be important would actually be a good idea for the benefit of the people they are trying to help. As much as a sylph can buff and heal other players, its really hit or miss whether this is a benefit or a detriment to others (See; aranea healing terezis eyes) No offense to any sylphs who might read this, but thats just how Sylphs are usually. They only really tend to THINK they know best because they have an abundance of knowledge in other areas or they can heal, which means they are likely fussy motherly/fatherly type figures who push specific narratives onto others. They want to fix what they see as lacking of their aspect in others and like to push it onto others.

A classic sign you might be a sylph above a maid though, would have to be what conflict with how you are perceived in friend groups, i feel like. Araneas biggest issue was that she wasnt ever given acknowledgement and was simply shrugged to the side as the expositional Healer class and thats it. She was never seen as important and felt she was drafted to being a side character in her session and when she got the chance to become important - inverting into a Prince and roleplaying Mindfang - she took it. To the destruction of ever being acknowledged again.

Its for that reason in specific, Sylphs are definitely the Passive ones in my opinion and Maids are active. Because their natural roles in the plot are very passive in comparison to a maids who are constantly acting acting acting! And not because they expect anything to come from it or because they are forcing their way through, but because they flow along with their aspect and have a more natural inclination to be on the nose with things.
