Sansa not even knowing of Arya's or Jeyne's marriage to Ramsay is an indication of how little Petyr Baelish has told her and the readers of his grand schemes, plans and secret BTS plotting.

Which is one reason why we cannot take any of what Baelish tells Sansa at face value, considering everything he is not telling her.

We can pick up some clues here and there. The food that he is hoarding for his price gouging scheme informs me that he is aware that the food situation has become dire.

At the same time, while Littlefinger appears omnipotent in how much he controls and manipulates situations, we can also see there are other events that are beyond his control and will end up putting a spanner in the works.

For one, Baelish is only able to keep ahead of situations with a lot of luck (Tyrion not exposing him) and with the help of information available to him from an extensive spy network that lets him know of what is happening where and who is doing what. Ex. Dontos telling him of the Tyrell plot to marry Sansa to Willas.

It's easy to have spies in King's Landing (We get a little tidbit of LF asking for some tapestries...). Same with the Riverlands given that Littlefinger has reason to be interested in what's happening there as Lord Paramount of the Riverlands.

The rest of the realm and Essos is harder but doable with respect to public events and information that is trickling in everywhere. Like the current chaos in Meereen or the attack on Old Town or the Golden Company and Aegon Targaryen. Dorne (and the separate Quentyn/Arianne plots) would be near impossible considering how secretive Doran Martell has been.

Also trickier is the North considering how isolated it is, the weather and a lot of secretive plotting behind the scenes.

I doubt Littlefinger knows about Robb's will/decree considering it was witnessed and signed by select lords - most of whom are dead, imprisoned or on their way North secretly. I don't think there is a possibility of spies there or anyone blabbing to someone else.

There's no way Littlefinger knows about Rickon because, again, no possibility of spies in Manderly and Glover's secret plotting with Davos given how stealthy they are being on account of the Freys in their camp.

There was a lot of noise recently about an AFfC draft which mentions LF getting a message from White Harbor. But again, what message? If he has a spy there then the information he is getting will about the Manderlys being forced into marriage and alliance with the Freys and the crown in KL.

If he plans to sail to White Harbor to unveil Sansa as the heir in Winterfell based on information he gets from WH, he's going to be in for a big surprise. I do think he will have to course correct because by the time the intrigue in the Vale is all settled, he will get news that the Boltons are defeated and that Rickon/Jon have taken Winterfell and the North. What will he do then? I think he will pivot towards the Riverlands. Or, he may focus on the Riverlands first before he gets the news of Rickon/Jon back in Winterfell .

Apart from Sam Tarly, the only other group who knows that Bran is still alive are select folks of the Mountain clans and again, I can't imagine a Littlefinger plant secretly sending him messages amongst these clans.

Same with Arya Stark. Littlefinger - along with the Lannisters and the Boltons - thinks that Arya is dead and knows an imposter is playing her in the marriage to Ramsay Bolton.

This is most likely a vital part of his plot to get rid of the Boltons by exposing fake Arya as Jeyne, revealing Alayne as Sansa Stark and lay claim to Winterfell through Sansa as the rightful heir just like Tywin intended to eventually do with Tyrion/Sansa. However, Arya Stark is alive and well and unencumbered by marriage and there are no spies or informants who know this.

Littlefinger most likely knows about what's happening at the Wall considering how much information is leaking out of there like a sieve. If Cersei is able to get information, then so can Baelish. He surely knows about Stannis at the Wall, Tycho passing through and will know about Jon's assassination and mutiny. What he does with that information will be interesting to read - how much he will reveal to Sansa, and in what form he will tell her the truth.

And that's what most exciting about all this. The lack of information on what's actually happening in the North that's going to thwart and throw a spanner in Littlefinger's grand plans while Daenerys does the same to Varys' grand schemes. I think it will be fun if events end up surprising these master players of the games.

I think TSCC was the first show I ever got on DVD. Watched it over and over and I would write out transcripts of the scenes I liked the mos, I'm sure my parents thought my level of interest was Fine and Good. Also probably at least 60% of the reason I'm obsessed woth Cersei.

What is your opinion of Sansa's costumes on Game of Thrones? I love the fabrics and the embroidery of the earlier seasons, but I wonder if the later, darker costumes make such a sensitive and feminine character as Sansa appear to be too dour and "sexless?"

I didn’t think I had much to say about costumes, but I started writing and couldn’t stop so the short answer is yes and the longer answer is, well, long. 😂

I was a very casual viewer and didn’t put much thought into the show other than loving it when it aired until s7. I thought the costumes were pretty in earlier seasons but back then I never watched or read interviews or bts stuff, so it wasn’t until I got involved in the fandom (before s8), that I started hearing the thought process behind the costumes which made me appreciate their intent but imo there was a failure in that, I couldn’t see the details. I think they needed to do screen tests with the costumes because there was SO much effort put into things that failed to pick up on my tv. And, in spite of my general impression of “oh, pretty costumes!” I hope that when they do a remake, they look back at historical fashions and use those as a starting place because at a certain point, it became clear that the costumes were informed by one person’s taste rather than making sense of the climate/status of certain characters. It’s fantasy so obviously the important thing isn’t historical accuracy, but there were some...choices in s7-s8 costume-wise that were odd.

I didn’t save the links to the costume metas that more knowledgeable people wrote, but I think the costume design (just as the writing did) became more of an issue because of inconsistent approaches. I remember Dany’s white fur coat was supposed to indicate her mindset of being a savior, but if the costume design was about how the characters perceived themselves then Sansa’s and Cersei’s outfits should have been different and Jon’s costuming doesn’t fit his mindset in s8 because he’s wearing the Stark wolves when he goes into KL in 8x05 which i would argue was when he was MOST distant from Stark ideals and the Stark family. Morally, emotionally, that would have been the lowpoint as he is leading the northern armies (against the wishes of the Starks) into battle in which he knows Dany likely won’t stop even if the city surrenders. So, at times the costumes reflect the characters self-perception and at other times they don’t which is confusing. If at times you’re invited into a character’s mind and not at others, you’re getting some mixed signals, especially with a character like Dany who had a warped view.

I know it was mostly more about how the audience was meant to see the characters and shaping their view of them but I have issues with that too. Dany generally had sexy outfits which I’m sure was a deliberate choice to keep the GA in love with her and distract them from her concerning words and actions. And even though they did introduce the Viserys’ like outfits to indicate her conqueror/Targ stuff and nudge her character progression along, the white outfit continued the audience’s misconception that she’s a savior and disrupted that conquering image until she went full Nazi in the end of s8. And I don’t say that lightly, everyone recognized what they did with her in the finale and that included her costume. If that’s the goal, to control the audience’s perception of a character, I have issues with how they dressed Sansa because even though there were pretty dresses in KL, the costume designer made them not fit to indicate how out of place she was which reflects her emotional state but doesn’t work with the idea of how well she manages court life and maneuvers the dangers of her situation. Something we were meant to pick up on but most of the audience didn’t. I know her “Alayne”/Dark Sansa outfit got a lot of attention because it was much sexier than her previous outfits, but the attention she receives from men was unwanted, so again, it doesn’t ring true as what the character would want to wear or that that’s how she viewed herself, and feels more like telling the audience something...but I don’t know what? On the one hand, it’s meant to be Sansa taking some control of her life, but she very quickly is victimized/sexually abused. I guess it just seems to me that the costumes might make sense in a way, but not from other angles. I suppose the costume design was tied to the scripts and the writing was so messy they reflected that lack of coherency to me.

The one outfit that to me felt genuine to who Sansa was is her wolf dress in s6. I believe that she would have created something beautiful to wear that was luxurious in a way, but still practical (ish), and proudly proclaimed herself a Stark. Of course, if it was meant to tell the audience what to think, where Sansa’s loyalty was, where her heart and home was, the costumes in s7-8 felt like a step backwards. Messy writing, I suppose. She still has the Starky wolves and furs, but there was so much going on with the necklace and the crisscrossed straps for her furs that we begin to get that claustrophobic feeling when looking at her in s7 and then she has her armor dress in s8 which...I know she felt the danger of LF, Dany, and the Others, so having her wear those armored things makes sense in a way, except, if by her own volition she wore that beautiful dress in s6 when going to war and before she was safe in Winterfell again and before she was reunited with Bran and Arya...it feels like regression, not a believable followup. I read a fabulous meta pre s8 that pointed out how Dany’s costume mimicked Viserys, Cersei’s mimicked her father’s, and Sansa’s had a lot of Jon, so some of these choices were about creating visual parallels and pointing out how the three queens were foils for each other, but the writing in s7-8 was so contradictory, and did more misleading of the audience than genuine storytelling, that I think it was pointless in the end. So, nice idea in theory, but no one but Sansa fans/Jonsas noticed what this was saying about Dany and the rest of the fandom thought that Sansa wearing dark clothes meant she was evil. 😑

The idea of putting Sansa in that armor dress in s8 was also frustrating because Sansa was supposed to feel safe in Winterfell and she clearly was wielding more political clout than Jon or Dany in the North, but she was no warrior/fighter, so I wish they had leaned into the differences there in costumes. Like, let’s imagine Dany wearing some form of armor in light of her being on the continent to, ya know, wage war and conquer, and stick Sansa in more colorful outfits or softer outfits to reflect how happy she was to be home and have her siblings again. Wouldn’t that change the audience’s perception of the characters? Wouldn’t that make more sense for their roles and goals? Sansa’s realm of power is in the court, in relationships, in words, so to put her in something that looked like armor when even Arya wasn’t wearing anything like that and Jon was wearing a gross jerkin (???) and nothing more when fighting the others...it just didn’t make sense in any way. To me, it feels like they were indicating she was closed off which is dumb because she was the most invested in her family/relationships. At the time I wasn’t that bothered, but post s8 it’s annoying. How do they justify putting Sansa, who in s8 works to serve her people and grants mercy where others want death (Jaime), and prioritizes her family over and over into costumes that told them audiences she was closed off/meant for war? And then when you think about a scene like her one on one with Dany, how soft and approachable they made her in contrast to Sansa when one of those characters was about to become a mass murdering tyrant…I mean, the intent is to mislead, right? Dany was allegedly uncomfortable in the North, why is Sansa the one in stiff/uncomfortable costumes? Sophie sold the calm strength of Sansa, the subtle power she held, I don’t think the rigid outfits were necessary or communicating the right ideas.

And now for my least favorite Sansa look which unfortunately is her coronation outfit. It had a lot of symbolism but most of those details weren’t visible to me until I saw high quality pics on the internet so again, screen tests would have been a good idea. Also, I thought it was a VERY questionable choice to include references to LF and in her outfit. I understand that he influenced her, but LF molested her. It REALLY bothers me that the designer put references to him alongside references to Sansa’s family. The outfit also continued her armor theme and considering at this point all her enemies (LF, Dany, Cersei) were gone it made no sense that way. I already objected to the armor being a miscommunication of where her power was, and that leaves us with this idea of being protected/isolated from others which is really upsetting. Here’s an addition to a post I wrote after the finale that perfectly explained why some of us hated it:

So, unfortunately, like much of GoT, the ending made what might have otherwise been forgiven, really upsetting to me. I know the costume designer had good goals and worked a lot of meaning into her design, but ultimately, the above was my take away for various reason. The writing isn’t the costume designer’s fault, but I think in working so hard to communicate what the scripts were saying, they said things that were repulsive to me. I wouldn’t exactly call her costumes sexless, her feast dress in s8 was very sensual, but rather, the conversation about sex and relationships that they gave Sansa, from child bride to girl trying to reclaim her home via marriage to being closed off from relationships…the story those costumes had to tell because of what D&D did….they became a visual for a gross sentiment so it’s hard to hold onto my fondness for them. Even her sensual dress isn’t pretty or open, she has leather straps across her chest, as if she is still repressing, still constraining herself, and all of this might have been forgivable if it wasn’t for the fact that when Sansa is free at last, in the finale, the costume sends her back into her cage. We could write an essay about queenhood being a cage, but that wasn’t the commentary they were delivering. Sansa deserved less misogynistic writing, and it is the writing that’s at fault, but because of that writing, the costumes feel sexist too. So I appreciate the artistry, I detest the message.

jin would be a very casual watcher. he’d be into it but wouldn’t look up much about the show or the books. if he has a question he’ll either just wing it & continue in the hopes that he understands later on or he’ll text a friend (*cough cough, text me jin*)

he'd be such a casual watcher that he might accidentally skip an episode then try to connect the dots himself

could actually see him enjoying the battle episodes

most popular member among the got characters - i just think that so many of the characters would love to joke around and go drinking with jin, he'd free them from the constraints and dreariness in their everyday lives

yoongi

in another universe i could see yoongi being someone who listened to the audiobooks

but i think he’d be a casual watcher, mostly, but he’d remember very specific and weird details that most people would have neglected

but he’d watch a youtube video of something if he feels like he’s lost on something or the lore - he wouldn’t finish said video though

yoongi wouldn’t be very reactive while watching, even during the shocking bits, but i can see him letting out a little disapproving “….wow” at cersei blowing up the sept

favorite scene: “tell cersei, i want her to know it was me”

rhaenyra would bias yoongi because he's just so chill while also being a badass, minds his own business, and is incredibly clever - i could see them working well together

namjoon

namjoon would love tyrion so, so much, he’ll use one of tyrion’s quotes as an instagram caption 100%

or a picture of his dog moni with a direwolf/stark related caption like “my very own dire wolf”

namjoon would get AFFECTED by the show like he’ll spend time pondering over morality and what he’d do if he were in a character’s position, considering the characters' povs, link it to the real world.....

namjoon would especially be mad as fuck at how jamie’s arc ended, i think

his favorite scene would be tyrion’s trial

would be so so into the show that he’d avoid consuming content about the show like the plague in case he accidentally comes across a spoiler

i don't think he'd hate the ending....

idk i'm so so SO curious to know namjoon's thoughts on the show i feel like i could be way off on his reactions

bonus / more than one member:

jungkook, hobi, and namjoon would be obsessed with the dragons

but namjoon and jungkook would be as equally obsessed with the direwolves

i said jungkook would love the theme song, but i think namjoon would too. If he hears jungkook singing the theme song, he’ll join in

jin and hobi could develop crushes on emilia clarke

as i said i don’t see tae watching the show, but i think he’ll see one or two scenes somehow & that’ll stick in his mind - im guessing the scene of daenerys getting the unsullied

i think sansa will definitely bias jimin because of how kindhearted and sweet he is and how that's just a part of his nature, he'll remind sansa of the good in the world <3

if any of the members were to post something got-related (like namjoon’s direwolf post i mentioned), taehyung would “respond” by posting a picture of yeontan with the caption “tan, the real king”

expect user uarmyhope to comment with "LORD STARK" a bunch of fire, snow, dragon, wolf, crown emojis - on both thv and rkive’s posts

(A/N: So this is based one idea I have with Oberyn, Ellaria and my Stark character. I’m not sure if I’ll have it in this particular verse as I’ll call it. The verse itself (and so are the others) are non-canon compliant. You’ll see in a moment!)

If someone were to say the North and the South would unite; you’d think they lost their self to madness, while in reality that’s what was going on currently. Oberyn Martell and Ellaria Sand (With a few guards and others with them.) had found themselves in Winterfell.

Lord Eddard Stark was with them in the Great Hall; a look of worry, tiredness and the haunting of days gone by, longed on his face. Three goblets of wine were placed down; Catelyn joined them shortly after, just getting in from trying to find me.

“I have no idea where she’s at right now; I sent Robb to look for me; you know I need to be here.” Catelyn spoke.

“Thank you for coming Prince Oberyn, I hope your travel was safe.” Eddard started.

The Dornishman looked around for a moment before his eyes settled on Eddard.

“It was, thankfully. It is a shame you couldn’t come down to Dorne instead.” Oberyn tried to sound cheerful.

It was a bit too cold for his taste and Ellaria had his cloak on; but thankfully for them, they were sitting close to the fireplace. Of course the couple was as close as can be; while Eddard and Catelyn sat next to each other.

Culture can be so interesting can’t it?

I’ve always felt like more of a Dorne, then a Northwoman. I feel so detached to my own culture because of just being me. I hear people spread the rumors about me and, sure a few maybe true, but most are false.

“Ellaria Sand, My paramour.” Oberyn introduced.

“My Lord, My Lady.” Ellaria smiled, kindly.

Catelyn kept quiet, just observing but giving the woman a smile in return. Eddard found out that Doran couldn’t make it, Doran’s health was acting up again; so Oberyn was sent and, wherever Oberyn goes, so does Ellaria.

“So my Brother tells me, you want me to marry your daughter for an alliance.” Oberyn spoke after a moment.

“Yes, that’s correct.” Eddard answered.

“Lord Stark, I highly doubt you’re asking for political reasons.” Oberyn quipped.

Eddard blinked in surprised, believe it or not he was right. This wasn’t for political reasons, Catelyn looked to her husband and she’s shocked. Ellaria smirked and watched on. Eddard quickly recovered and kept his eyes on the Red Viper of Dorne. Eddard Stark knew this wasn’t going to be easy by any means.

“I would like the real reason, the political aspect can be for my Brother as far as I’m concerned.” Oberyn added.

Eddard took in a breath. Yes, Father, I wish you all the luck in the world on this. Honestly, if I was there, I would have to take control of it. That should be soon though. I mean, when I’m in King’s Landing, I don’t wear my house pin.

“It’s about my oldest daughter.-” Me, not Sansa or Arya. “I’m fearing for her safety. With all these rumors going around, I’m not sure what to do at this point.”

“Prince Oberyn, if I may, my daughter she’s...I’m worried that the Lannisters could try to have her killed. As you know the Starks and Lannisters are at odds with each other. With Cersei being married to King Robert, we have no idea what they may try to pull.” Catelyn spoke up.

Oberyn nodded, allowing them to continue.

“Well, rest assured Lady Catelyn, my lover and I, hate the Lannisters.” Ellaria replied.

The room went silent; yes we all know the story of Elia Martell and her children; just hearing about it sends chills and fear down my soul.

“Are any of them true?” Oberyn asked.

“As far as we know, one or two.” Eddard answered.

A look of wondering was on Ellaria’s face. She had an odd feeling and she wanted to know if it was right. After all, it’s not everyday that someone from Dorne comes up to the North. Ellaria looked over at Oberyn, the two lovers knowing what the other could say without speaking.

“You're saying you need us? That must be hard for you to admit.” Oberyn knew he won.

Both Eddard and Catelyn said nothing; that confirmed Ellaria’s feeling.

“She preferences both?” Oberyn asked.

“Yes, but we’ve never seen her with anyone.” Eddard answered.

“Also you know how judgmental some in the North can be.” Catelyn added.

Or Westros in general; I’ve been busy with things; I don’t have time for a relationship or whatever else, I know Mother and Father eventually planned to marry me to someone; so why bring on heartache? Plus, I enjoy my silence and books and my secrets.

“Then everyone is missing half the world's pleasure. The gods made women… and it delights me. The gods made men… and it delights me.” Oberyn smirked.

Ellaria smiled and looked at Oberyn. The two Starks drank some wine to make things less awkward.

“The other rumor...we’re not even sure on. There isn’t any evidence but lately she’s been going missing for extent of time after midnight. Some believe she’s using magic to sneak out of Winterfell and goes wherever.” Catelyn said with bated breath.

Well, actually that is true; but I don’t think I want to get into that right now.

“Really?” Oberyn said with a surprised expression.

“Despite the rumors, we realized at times we weren’t there for her when she needed us, but we do care about her. I want her to be safe and I’ve done everything that I can think of.” Eddard nodded.

“You’d be also surprised to know that our daughter has a vast knowing of Dorne.” Catelyn added.

This interested both of them; they both came closer to Mother and Father. As they talked, I finally got back to Winterfell. Something felt off, I looked around and started to walk to where the Great Hall is.

Something just told me to go.

Instead of going around to the outside entrance, I opened to go through the one inside entrance; that way I could see if I should be on guard or not. I quietly get to the door and look to see Mother and Father talking to two people. Wait, why do they look familiar?

I pushed the door opened and I blinked once they turned around.

“Ah, there you are daughter; come meet your betrothed, Prince Oberyn and his paramour, Ellaria Sand.”
