Stuff To Watch if you like Rise Of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and have already watched or not interested the other TMNT iterations

Moongirl and Devil Dinosaur is my highest reccomendation if you wanna watch something very simaler to Rise.  MGADD is about a child genius named Lunella who protects her neighborhood and community with her tech, her sidekick “Devil” who’s a dinosaur from an alternate dimension, and her best friend Casey.  Its animated by the same studio who worked on Rise (Flying Bark Studios) and has very simaler comedy and writing while still being its own thing!  The music is amazing, the characters are likable and funny, the diversity is some of the best i’v seen,the animation is gorgeous and AH please watch  this show its amazing.  

Lego Monkie Kid!  Again animated by the same studio so the animation is once again super good. Its based off a classic chinese story called Journey to The West, we follow our sparky young protagonist MK who is training to be the successor to the Monkey King.  If you like found family, you’ll like this!  The action is nonstop and the fight scenes are incredible.  The story that unravels is very compelling as we learn more about our cast of characters, namely Monkey King himself.  The humor and writing is very also simaler to Rise as well.  Though you may have to hunt for the episodes.  (Yoho yoho a pirates life for me)

Wordgirl!  This one may be confusing but stay with me on this.  If you only watched for its animation and fight scenes... Then skip this suggestion.  BUT if you love Rise for its writing and characters then please stay.  Wordgirl is about a ten year old alien girl name Becky who’s from the planet Lexicon and has various Superman-like powers as well as a ‘super vocabulary’.  Which keep in mind this aired on PBS Kids so don’t expect Highschool vocab or anything.  BUT the writing is (I kid you not) hilarious, heartfelt, and even sometimes emotional.  It never infantilizes its audience so even if you’re not the target demographic there’s still stuff for you.  Like the characters are all very likable, wacky and cute!  Like a scientist who fused with a mouse and now has a very visible brain stuck to his head and kinda has a Jeykll and Hyde going on.  Or a guy who shoots meat out of his hands.  Or a ten year old british boy who creates giant robots to destroy the entire city who’s voiced by Remmy The Rat (If you like Donnie, you’ll like Tobey or Twobrains).  (btw dm me if you want the link to the show)

[Mortal Kombat] Reptile

Reptile’s original appearance in Mortal Kombat is the definition of a palette swap character. This super-secret ninja is adorned in green to reference him having a combination of Scorpion and Sub-Zero’s abilities.

Nearly two decades later, Netherrealm Studios would bring back this version of Reptile in 2011's Mortal Kombat (same name, different game) as an unplayable secret challenger.

Thankfully, Reptile would become a much more unique character in the following games. He’d share some sprites with the other MK ninjas, but he at least had some of his own unique attacks and animations!

After the developers of Mortal Kombat stopped using 2D graphics, Reptile and the other ninjas started to really differentiate themselves from each other. Nowadays, the ninjas feel wholly different from one another, with no shared models or animations. Notably, Reptile's appearance has become much more reptilian post-Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3.

Sub-Zero and Reptile would continue to share one special move, slide, in Mortal Kombat 2 and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. Reptile would continue to have slide or a slide-like technique in the following games, but they no longer shared an animation with Sub-Zero’s versions.

Kung Fu Panda Kwestions Answered...

Universal also made a big presentation at CinemaCon today, a little after Disney did theirs...

In addition to previewing some stuff for this year's DreamWorks animated films RUBY GILLMAN: TEENAGE KRAKEN and TROLLS BAND TOGETHER, they surprisingly dropped some big deets on KUNG FU PANDA 4!

We finally know who is at the helm. The film is being directed by Mike Mitchell. Mitchell is no stranger to DreamWorks, having been a story artist on ANTZ, SHREK 2, SHREK THE THIRD, MONSTERS VS. ALIENS... and director of SHREK FOREVER AFTER and the first TROLLS. Curiously, his involvement with the KUNG FU PANDA series was very minimal, merely voicing some additional characters in the third movie. Outside of DreamWorks, he also directed THE LEGO MOVIE 2: THE SECOND PART, which - despite the general ho-hum reaction to it in early 2019 - I quite loved and almost considered to be on par with the excellent first LEGO MOVIE. So, good choice! Not who I expected, but I'm curious to see what he brings to the series.

The plot involves Po leaving the Valley of Peace for an undefined big city, as he seeks to train the next Dragon Warrior... This must be set **a while** after the third one, then. Reminiscent of THE LAST WISH, I feel... Spent some time away from our favorite characters, and we come back... It's like they've been away for a while, too. Not the story continuing right where it left off, a la something like Pixar's INCREDIBLES 2. I think that's the logical way to go, honestly. Some time has passed, now it's the next step in an ever-changing life. Something new happens, even after the story seems to be over. Po might be significantly older this time around.

The new antagonist is named The Chameleon, who can "summon" Po's past foes. Summon? As in, he can shapeshift into them? Not dissimilar to Shang Tsung* from MORTAL KOMBAT? Or does he bring the likes of Tai Lung, Lord Shen, and Kai back from the dead? Either way, that's quite the opponent for Po!

Interestingly, there were a pair of characters named Chameleon and Khameleon in the MORTAL KOMBAT franchise, but they couldn't turn into the other characters like Shang Tsung could. In the early MK games, the developers took a character and then changed the color of their outfit, creating a separate character altogether. Saved time and money. This spawned the common video game saying "palette swap". For example, in the original MORTAL KOMBAT, there were three ninjas: Sub-Zero, Scorpion, and the secret Reptile. It was the same digitized live actor and the same costume, but the costume in a different color. Palette-swapped ninjas. Sub-Zero blue, Scorpion yellow, Reptile green. They did this again for MORTAL KOMBAT II, for a trio of woman fighters named Kitana (blue), Mileena (purple), and Jade (obviously white!). In addition to them, MKII added an all-black shadow ninja named NOOB SAIBOT, the creators' last names spelt backwards. And in MORTAL KOMBAT 3 and its updated versions (ULTIMATE MK3 and MK TRILOGY), added even more palette-swapped ninjas, like red ninja Ermac (based on a glitch that apparently turned Scorpion red in the original MK) and purple ninja Rain... So in the PlayStation version of MORTAL KOMBAT TRILOGY, they added a new character named Chameleon. Basically the base actor/costume, but the color changed, and so did his abilities. In the Nintendo 64 version of MK TRILOGY, they had Khameleon, the same idea, but as the women fighters.

I know a lot about classic Mortal Kombat, thanks for reading the tangent if ya did...

Anyways, The Chameleon from KUNG FU PANDA 4! Is that all the character can do? Since Po fought all three of these characters and defeated them, he can just do that again... I can only assume The Chameleon has crazy-challenging powers of his own, and perhaps might resurrect foes Po never fought!

A lot to guess and speculate, but it sounds very, very cool so far...

However, Universal/DreamWorks appear to be keeping the film in the March 8, 2024 slot... Despite the fact that Disney is opening Pixar's original space adventure movie ELIO the week before, their live-action SNOW WHITE two weeks later, and Sony opens SPIDER-MAN: BEYOND THE SPIDER-VERSE three weeks later... That's plenty of family-friendly/PG competition right there. Not that KUNG FU PANDA 4 has to worry, given how well its predecessors did at the box office... Plus an 8-year wait should help this one fine, some nostalgia-driven success.

I still feel Universal will put it in the February 9, 2024 reserved for an undetermined animated movie. Illumination has nothing between MIGRATION and DESPICABLE ME 4, and that third LEGO MOVIE Universal is doing is not that far along. If it was, they would've said that today... I think Uni will put KUNG FU PANDA 4 in February 2024, or they'll remove the reserved slot from their calendar.

I also predict that KUNG FU PANDA 4 won't be the title.

After Comcast bought DreamWorks Animation in 2016, their sequel titles dropped the numerals and adopted subtitles...

Either way, I love the KUNG FU PANDA trilogy, the first and second movies really resonate with me in a special way, so I'm ready for the saga to continue in a big and unexpected way. Hopefully we hear more about the not-sequel DreamWorks animated movie sharing the year with KUNG FU PANDA Quattro, sometime soon...

Ignoring my very brief meeting with Julia, I immediately went up to the last person in the room I haven’t met yet. I caught glimpses of them, and understood that they were here because of what MK said, but there was no way THE Nichelle Ladonna was here.

Except she was.

Right in front of me.

“Oh, hi-”

“OHMYGODNICHELLELADONNAILOVEYOUSOMUCHIWATCHEDALLYOURMOVIESI’MLIKEYOURBIGGESTFANEVER-” I had to stop to take in a massive gulp of air, and while I was winded the starlet (caught very off guard) smile with mild embarrassment. However, she quickly adopted a much more professional look as she addressed me.

"Yes, Hi, It's Me! Nichelle Ladonna,” She began. “You might've heard me from the critically acclaimed show 'Hot Teen Ninja Detective Squad,' or maybe from my recent Theatric Classic 'Wolves on a Plane'? No autographs please, just trying to be a normal college student like all of you. A Ridiculously Hot and Extremely Talented College Student, but still a College Student, you get it?”

She looked at me expectingly, and I hope the speed at which I nodded emphasized how much I totally agreed with her. 

“Hope we can hang out, most people would give up their first born for a meet up with the All Star Actress - seriously, it's messed up. All those babies on stage...yikes."

“Yeah...” I sighed as she left.

Please oh please some more Ninja/Green Clansman glasses-glinting confrontation between Fushimi and the Blue King? Thank you, m'lady

How often do you think they had the ninja discussion I wonder, especially after Douhan saves Fushimi in ROK? Oh like imagine right after she brings him up out of jungle's headquarters Douhan carries Fushimi to one of Scepter 4's vans for his wound to be looked at, as Munakata comes to check on him Douhan promptly peaces out with her insanely large check for his rescue. Munakata notes that it was kind of 'Miss Ninja' to assist him and Fushimi clicks his tongue and pushes up his glasses as he's like I didn't expect you to use a Green clansman like this Captain. Munakata assures Fushimi that he would have used any resources necessary in order to secure Fushimi's safety, including using a ninja to rescue him. Fushimi gives an annoyed grunt and pushes up his glasses again as he says that Green clansman was helpful in assisting him on jungle missions, as expected he was able to earn points quickly with her help. Munakata is very proud of Fushimi for finding a way to make use of a wild card such as a ninja in order to complete his mission. Fushimi wonders how much Munakata paid that Green clansman in order to rescue him and Munakata assures him that there is no need to be concerned, he made certain that Miss Ninja was compensated fairly.

After this even though the Green clan no longer really exists Fushimi basically insists on calling Douhan a Green clansman whenever he's discussing her with Munakata, like Munakata still keeps Douhan's number for when he needs certain jobs done because it is always good to have a ninja on the payroll. Fushimi's concerned about them working with a Green clansman and Munakata says he isn't worried and that it is odd for Fushimi to say so when he in particular seems to have a good relationship with that ninja. When Munakata says that Fushimi just pushes up his glasses again with a frustrated shine while Munakata continues to sparkle proudly, he is very pleased to have his very own ninja. (And as it happens Fushimi and Douhan did get along a bit and sometimes they meet to discuss knives together, Fushimi almost slips and calls her a ninja and then he clicks his tongue and corrects it to 'Green clansman.' Douhan adjusts her own glasses and says she no longer works for jungle so it is fine to refer to her as a ninja. Somewhere Munakata finds himself sparkling without knowing why and Fushimi grits his teeth and he is never going to tell Munakata that this conversation happened.)

How did it come to this

So.

Monkie kid.

I had this AU, classic Traffic Light Trio swap but with MK being a competent villain. (@ninja-knox-ur-sox-off yes it's the AU I told you about)

Somehow, it became a canon-divergent type AU instead. In less than a day.

I might have created the first Zombie Apocalipse AU in the monkie kid fandom?

The name is Arachnophobia Virus and MK is going through the wringer. Red Son too. And Mei. Everyone, really.

It's horror based (at least that's what I'm going for) and everyone who's scared of spiders, please block the #arachnophobia virus au tag, since, well, it's in the name.

Will post more about it later.
