Jason calling Bruce "dad" scenarios that I want to inflict on everyone:
1. The standard: fluffy and feel-good. Jason has never stopped calling Bruce "dad" in his mind and one time he just isn't paying attention and he does it. Bruce stops in his tracks, touched and trying to compute what just happened, watching Jason grow red because he did not just admit that Bruce is still his dad- cue the waterworks, cue the hugs.
2. The comedic: Jason realizes that Bruce is weak to him specifically when he calls him dad and uses this new-found advantage to his benefit.
3. The tragic (flavor 1): Jason slips up in a moment of thoughtlessness, calling Bruce "dad" then freezing up when he noticed how heartbroken the other is looking at him. Bruce asks him quietly if Jason still thinks of him as his father, hope wavering in his voice. And Jason has to swallow past the lump in his throat when he answers, no.
No, not in this lifetime. Not anymore. Not ever again. He stammers an excuse, leaving immediately with his skin crawling. Guilt eating him up because of the hope in Bruce's tone that he couldn't do justice. Memories swelling and quickening his breath of all the reasons that bond had broken in the first place.
4: the tragic (flavor 2): Jason slips up, calling Bruce "dad" and immediately blanches. He refuses to turn to the other man and hopes they move on without talking about it, but Bruce can't just ignore it. His voice is just as professional as always when he says "I'm not your father, Jason." He knew that already. Knew Bruce didn't think of him that way any longer. Jason bites his lip. He says he knows that, that it didn't mean anything, that they should get back to the matter at hand. He stubbornly doesn't think of signed adoption papers, of being picked up after school, of family dinners every evening. He knew that didn't matter anymore. He already knew that. So it shouldn't hurt so fucking much.

Another one of the Peeta moments that rot in my brain constantly is the scene in catching fire when Katniss and Finnick get stuck with the Jabberjays.
Peeta had his hands pressed against the force field, trying so so hard to be there for her and wanting so badly to protect her. And when it finally ended he held her, and rocked her, and let her hide her face in his arms, and protected her for as long as she needed him to and…..that’s just so ughhhh….so heartbreakingly sweet.
