H. N. Elly: The Box Witch
Thought I’d finally do another canon witch, H.N. Elly, also known as Kirsten! Tbh, which exactly IS the official name?? I’d reckon it’s Kirsten.
(Information and images are from: https://wiki.puella-magi.net/Elly)
Tumblr media
Kirsten (Handle name: H.N. Elly), the box witch with a covetous nature. She is a staunchly reclusive witch. Anything she covets she locks away within glass. The thoughts of her prisoners are laid bare, but one can strike her without thought without problems.
Now onto the familiar(s?), the series does considers these two as a singular unit.
Tumblr media
Daniyyel and Jennifer, the familiar of Kirsten/H.N. Elly, their duty is of transportation. Anything they touch becomes easy to carry.
Kirsten has this whole memory things going on, so I wonder if memories are a big deal with her backstory. She has a whole idol motif going on, so I wonder Kirsten was a girl who used to shy and spent her time only hanging with her online friends in chatrooms or something. Due to reasons, most likely her wish, she becomes an idol. After her enjoying idol life for a bit, she tries reconnecting with her chatroom friends, but they turn her away, believing she has become shallow and such.

Meanings of names. Batim/Batdr edition!
Hello there! I'm back with another name meanings list! This time it's the Bendy verse, because it was immortalized (Hehe heh get it) yet again, and I couldn't be more excited.
So! I will be doing the primary characters for both games, BUT not all of them. I’ll be doing all the folks from Batim, since there aren’t as many as in Batdr, which added a TON of new characters and I for the live of me can't do them all. It would take me an eternity, so there... So, I won’t do those who had like one tape or memo. Sorry. I also will not be including characters from the comics or the books. Yeah. (but I can do a part 2 if you guys want ehehehehe)
Let's go!
Toons (not doing the corrupted versions, they’re technically the same)
Bendy. I'm pretty sure that Meatly made it up from the name of some editing program. Something something Bender, not sure.
Boris. From a Bulgar Turkic name, also recorded as Bogoris, perhaps meaning "short" or "wolf" or "snow leopard". Hey! Literally a wolf!
Alice. From the Old French name Aalis, a short form of Adelais, itself a short form of the Germanic name Adalheidis, which means "noble type". Hmm, I like it! Fits her. I’m obviously also counting Twisted Alice and Allison Angel. They all have the same name.
Charley (one of my favourite characters hehehehe). Diminutive form of Charles, which means  "man". Literally. Just man. MAN. That’s it. I guess that fits... Charley is, after all, A MALE. Yeah.
Barley. Means “grower of barley”. Lmao. Just like that.
Edgar.  Derived from the Old English elements ead "wealth, fortune" and gar "spear". I mean... I guess? He has nothing to do with spears, but he’s got fangs. They’re sharp. Spears are sharp.
Humans (from here on going in alphabet order)
Allison Pendle. Norman French diminutive of Aalis, so basically the same as Alice. Cool! She’s very sweet, so it fits for her as well!
Audrey Drew (putting her here because I don’t really count her as an ink entity). Medieval diminutive of Æðelþryð, which is derived from the Old English elements æðel "noble" and þryð "strength". Oh, she sure is strong!
Bertrum Piedmont. Means "bright raven", derived from the Germanic element beraht "bright" combined with hramn "raven". Uhhmm. Ooook then. Not sure where the raven comes from.
Daniel ”Buddy” Lewek. From the Hebrew name דָּנִיֵּאל (Daniyyel), meaning "God is my judge". Nuuuu, Buddy:(      I still feel very bad for him... Man, poor guy.
Grant Cohen. From an English and Scottish surname that was derived from Norman French grand meaning "great, large". Well, his boss had GRANT plans for the studio (please don’t hurt me, I know the pun is bad).
Henry Stein (the man!). From the Germanic name Heimirich meaning "home ruler", composed of the elements heim "home" and ric "ruler". OOOOHH, i love it! Considering he is the actual creator of Bendy, he technically is the ruler!
Jack Fain. Derived from Jackin (earlier Jankin), a medieval diminutive of John, which itself is derived from the Hebrew name יוֹחָנָן (Yochanan) meaning "Yahweh is gracious". Maybe Jack is jewish? It’s unlikely, but I literally don’t know what to say here.
Joey Dr(ew). Diminutive of Joseph, which was from the Hebrew name יוֹסֵף (Yosef), meaning "he will add". Endless torment, that’s what he’ll add. Ugh, poor Henry.
Lacie Benton. Variant of Lacy. From a surname that was derived from Lassy, the name of a town in Normandy. I couldn’t really find anything else, so...I guess?
Nathan Arch Sr. From the Hebrew name נָתָן (Natan) meaning "he gave". Wha-  what’d he give? A new chance for Bendy to be relevant again? Idk, really.
Nathan ”Wilson” Arch Jr (please don’t hurt me, but I kinda like him as a villain... Like, yeah, he’s creepy as all heck, but isn’t that kinda the point? So there, I said it). I will be doing his moniker, since duh. The name comes from an English surname meaning "son of William". Eeeehhhh, almost fits, just replace William with Nathan.
Norman Polk (eeeeyyyy it’s ma dude!). From an old Germanic byname meaning "northman", referring to a viking. Now that’s interesting. I can’t tell English accents apart very well, but I saw someone say he’s got a southern accent. And then there’s NORTHman. Hmmmm.
Sammy Lawrence. Diminutive of Samuel, coming from the Hebrew name שְׁמוּאֵל (Shemu'el), which could mean either "name of God" or "God has heard". Lmao, I guess his god really did hear him. And decided to fucking murder him.
Shawn Flynn.  Anglicized form of Seán, which on itself is the Irish form of John, so basically the same as Jack.
Susie Campbell. Diminutive of Susan. This was derived from the Hebrew word שׁוֹשָׁן (shoshan) meaning "lily" (in modern Hebrew this also means "rose"), perhaps ultimately from Egyptian sšn "lotus". Oh, maybe those are her favourite flowers!
Thomas Connor. Greek form of the Aramaic name תָּאוֹמָא (Ta'oma') meaning "twin". OH he and Buddy are technically twins! Or, well, clones.
Wally Franks. Diminutive of Walter, which comes from a Germanic name meaning "ruler of the army", composed of the elements wald "rule" and hari "army". Pffft, he’s the ruler of the army that got OUTTA THE STUDIO, yeah ok it fits.
Ink entities (not doing Sammy, Jack and Norman for obvious reasons)
Betty. Diminutive of Elizabeth. From Ἐλισάβετ (Elisabet), the Greek form of the Hebrew name אֱלִישֶׁבַע ('Elisheva') meaning "my God is an oath". The heck- did she turn into Sammy?
Big Steve. Short form of Steven, which derives from the Greek name Στέφανος (Stephanos) meaning "crown, wreath". Uhh, I guess? Is there something that we have yet to discover?
Heidi. German diminutive of Adelheid, which means "noble type", from the French form of the Germanic name Adalheidis. Damn, what’s with all the nobles? Unrelated, but I love her bowtie.
Porter. From an occupational English surname meaning "doorkeeper". Oooohh, ok then, he technically is one.
And that’s it! Whew, took me quite some time. Please do tell me if you want a part two with the other folks! I’m not sure, when (and if) I’ll make it, we’l have to see.

The four horsemen of Revelation.
White horse rides...
And, Rick gets taken into the sky and is next seen again in the Millennium.
Tumblr media
Revelation 6.1
The 7 seals on the scroll 📜
The Lamb (Jesus) opened one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures say with a voice like thunder, “Come!” And I looked, and behold, a white horse! And its rider had a bow, and a crown was given to him, and he came out conquering and to conquer.
The white horse 🐎 represents a false peace that the antichrist rides in on. He makes a false 7-year (Revelation) peace agreement with Israel (Jacob/Daryl)
Antichist try's to destroy Jacob's ladder (bridge to God) during the time of Jacob's trouble.
Rick is Beth, and symbolically, the seal on the scroll 📜 being opened for the white horse was used to advertise DD2.
1st seal opened on the scroll 📜 , white horse, rider with a bow...
Tumblr media
The red (scarlet) horse rides 🐎
Tumblr media
‭Revelation 6:3-4
When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, “Come!” [4] Then another horse came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make people kill each other. To him was given a large sword.
The red horse 🐎 represents WAR, and the antichrist taking peace from the earth 🌎
Tumblr media
The black horse 🐎 rides...
‭Revelation 6:5-6
When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come!” I looked, and there before me was a black horse! Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand. [6] Then I heard what sounded like a voice among the four living creatures, saying, “Two pounds of wheat for a day’s wages, and six pounds of barley for a day’s wages, and do not damage the oil and the wine!”
The black horse represents famine and food shortages, but the rich (oil and wine) won't be affected.
Tumblr media
Buttons the black horse is eating and then gets eaten.
At Alexandria (revived Roman empire that the antichrist rises from), we see rationing of food around the same time we see the black horse ride. 🐎
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The pale GREEN horse 🐎 rides...
‭Revelation 6:7-8
When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, “Come!” [8] I looked, and there before me was a pale green horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth.
Nelly was Beth's (house of) Greene horse 🐎
Tumblr media
The name Nelly is a female form of Daniel, which is from the Hebrew name Daniyyel, meaning "God is my judge"
Nelly (Daniel's 70th week) that Daryl went looking for Sofia on.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Daryl on Nelly went looking for Sofia. Sofia, with her the days of Noah rainbow 🌈 t-shirt, came out of the ark/barn dead (death and Hades)
Tumblr media
Matthew 24.37
As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man (Christ/Beth)
Noah wore this t-shirt... a depiction of Noah gathering one male and one female of every animal to put onto the Ark. The stalk represents a baby, meaning the animal line will continue.
Tumblr media
The music box of 510 went into Noah's Ark/barn and played the gospel good news after the rain stopped. 🌈
The end is the beginning, and the beginning is the end. ♾️

story abt some guy who can’t stop lying
shortly after daniyyel's grandmother passes away, his best friend dana is diagnosed with mesothelioma. daniyyel feels unbearably guilty since he's a smoker and dana just works in a basement, he feels he should be the one with lung cancer. dana lives 6 more months.
after dana's funeral, daniyyel gets in the car to go to the family's home for the reception, but instead keeps driving.
daniyyel steps into a department store to get out of the rain, takes of his wet jacket and suddenly looks just like an employee.
the employee daniyyel is “filling in” for returns to work and he has to leave. he keeps driving and eventually finds himself in the crowd of a bachelor party in atlantic city.
now partygoer adam august, separated from the group is mistaken for a hotel porter in a casino hotel. as a porter, adam delivers messages to guests, but hating to see anyone upset, elects to modify messages which contain bad news. eventually, someone he delivers false good news to finds out and goes looking for him to fight him. adam swaps clothes with attendant kate dove to hide. during this time, kate falls down the stairs and dies, solidifying adam's belief that he was, in fact, missed by "the arrow of death" and someone is coming to rectify the mistake.
having narrowly avoided a death most certainly intended for the real daniyyel, now kate dove finds in her pocket a letter from her mother arranging her stay on a family friend's farm, and resolves to head out that way.
during her stay at the farm, kate speaks to the animals and they convince her to let them go. she does and flees the farm to avoid anger from the farmer. feeling bad, daniyyel goes to a newspaper office to purchase an obituary for kate.
at the newspaper office, daniyyel is mistaken for his father, who was for a time a semi-famous musician and invited to a party by a stranger.at the party, daniyyel meets recent divorcee, thomas "tv" valdez, who does not know who he is but invites him to stay the night. and the next night. and the next night. and the night after that...
when danny realizes he's acting as a stand-in for tv's ex he feels repulsed and has to get out of there. he walks to the dock to clear his head, and in a hurry of moving cargo, is confused for a crew member of a factory trawler and motioned aboard. danny obliges easily. anything to take him as far away as possible.
while on the vessel, hours pass easily to danny. he learns from a shipmate they are sailing from washington to alaska to catch pollock. while on the water, danny watches a machine that cuts heads off of fish all day every day.
when the fishing season ends, danny gets off near anchorage, and takes the train until he runs out of money. when he does run out of money, he decides he should just walk. this lasts him a while before it becomes too cold. luckily, hypothermic, but alive, danny is picked up from the side of the road by a kind stranger named q brewster who first takes him to a diner to buy him a hot meal and then to the two-room inn he owns to put him up.
q makes excuse after excuse to get danny to stay, and he does stay the whole winter, and after too.

I always thought the name Daniel was in reference to Daniel on the lion's Den. I assumed it was the religious theme.
"My God knew that I was innocent, and he sent an angel to keep the lions from eating me."
The angel is Armaaaannnnd 🫴✨
Oh, I definitely have always read it as an intentional choice given Anne's extremely Catholic background.
There are many sites for names, but I've found this one to be the most accurate in general over the years!
From the Hebrew name דָּנִיֵּאל (Daniyyel) meaning "God is my judge", from the roots דִּין (din) meaning "to judge" and אֵל ('el) meaning "God". Daniel was a Hebrew prophet whose story is told in the Book of Daniel in the Old Testament. He lived during the Jewish captivity in Babylon, where he served in the court of the king, rising to prominence by interpreting the king's dreams. The book also presents Daniel's four visions of the end of the world.
Maybe I'm being simplistic, but ever since I learned the meaning of the name Daniel way back when, I've always related it to this line in QotD:
Armand was Daniel's single oracle, his merciless and all-loving demonic god.
Because ultimately, Armand really was the arbitrator on whether or not Daniel lived forever. He was Daniel's god casting the final judgment, and Daniel knew this (even if Armand didn't want to acknowledge it on those terms).
And we can't ignore the bit about "interpreting the king's dreams" and his "visions of the end of the world."
Anne layered a lot into Devil's Minion in every single way and I love her for it.

Gender Masculine Usage English, German, Biblical
From the Hebrew name נֹחַ (Noach) meaning "rest, repose", derived from the root נוּחַ (nuach). After the flood he received the sign of the rainbow as a covenant from God. He was the father of Shem, Ham and Japheth. As an English Christian name, Noah has been used since the Protestant Reformation, being common among the Puritans. In the United States it was not overly popular in the 19th and 20th centuries, but it began slowly growing in the 1970s. Starting 1994 it increased rapidly — this was when actor Noah Wyle (1971-) began starring on the television series ER. A further boost in 2004 from the main character in the movie The Notebook helped it eventually become the most popular name for boys in America between 2013 and 2016. (Assuming context)
Wolf and Dani (honestly, just Wolf) accidentally lost a baby pic of Brian, Slade’s step-son. Wolfgang conjures a random photo he had and obviously it doesn’t work (probably because he’s trying not to make the situation stressful by being comical). However due to the stupidity, Dani whacks him into the 4th dimension.
Did I just explain the joke for no reason? Yes, yes I did.
