Watching Wayward Pines for potential ST5 inspo bc the Duffers wrote a couple episodes in s1, and when I got to their second (last) episode and their name crossed the screen, I noticed a visual parallel that might already exist on the show…
Tumblr media
Recognize it??
It instantly reminded me of that last shot for the opening of s3, with the landscape peaking out behind the Russian base. But when I went back and actually compared the two, holy shit it’s near identical, and not just the landscape.
Tumblr media
I didn’t even remember the helicopter being there on the left, not to mention the pillar-esaue contraption at the center. Like… they’re the same picture.!
With them being credited right at that moment, it’s obvious this was an intentional nod to their previous work.
I just thought it was cool so I wanted to share, but in terms of my watch overall, there is a LOT going on that they could pull from. I’m only halfway through s1, though I’ve heard the show goes downhill in s2 so we’ll see how that goes 😂
#byler#stranger things#wayward pines#st inspo#st5 predictions#spoilers I guess?#matt dillon is a secret service agent and when fellow agents go missing#he goes to find them and ends up in an accident himself#and wakes up in wayward pines#and no matter what he does he can’t reach anyone on the outside nor leave#people around him seem to be playing along with this sort of Truman show lifestyle of pretending everything is fine#then he runs into one of the agents who went missing also his ex-mistres#carla gugino my beloved#and she’s also playing along#bc they kind of have to otherwise they will be killed#little does Matt Dillon know his wife and kid on the outside are worried because he went missing#they go looking for him and end up in wayward pines too#wayward pines is actually really chill in retrospect bc you get a free house when you arrive#but the whole being trapped and not explained what’s going on and treated like your crazy part makes it hard to see the positives#and just when you think this whole town is an experiment#it is!!#but also not because they have any other choice really#turns out humans devolved into this creature referred to as abbies and they basically take over the world killing everything in sight#a scientist predicted this and managed to launch an experiment where he basically kidnapped a bunch of people and froze them from aging#to live safely in the future over 2000 years later in this confined town#where very few know the truth#the town being an experiment aspect intrigues me in terms of all the surveillance in Hawkins…#also random but the main kid on the show has an uncanny resemblance to the duffers despite no relation and it’s freaky 😂

Since we're on the topic of music tastes (Diff anon here), read me for filth for this thought/put this un-thought out headcanon to shame...but would Dillon listen to certain Chappel Roan tracks, NOT for the first kiss scene though. What do u think
how could I possibly read you to filth for this thought when i 100% believe that dillon lies in bed at night thinking of lucas while blasting naked in manhattan in his airpods

The Flash Rogues/Hunger Games Crossover That No One Knew They Wanted!
In a fit of insanity, I have decided to write a Hunger Games fanfiction that features the Flash characters as if they were a part of the Hunger Games universe.
Here are the characters who are going to appear in this bizarro version of the 56th Annual Hunger Games. Flash characters will be italicized
Capitol Residents
President Coriolanus Snow (obviously)
Caesar Flickerman (again, this is a given)
Paul Gambi: District 6 Stylist. (He's the Rogues' tailor in the Flash comics, after all.)
Dexter Miles: District 6 Escort. (This somehow seemed appropriate.)
District 1 Residents
Osgood Rathaway: Mayor of District 1
Rachel Rathaway: Osgood’s wife
Hartley Rathaway: Male Tribute, age 12. Osgood and Rachel’s son.
Sapphire Steele: Female Tribute, age 18 (Volunteer)
District 2 Residents
Aurelius Stone: Male Tribute, age 18 (Volunteer)
Claudia Remington: Female Tribute, age 18 (Volunteer)
District 3 Residents
Giovanni Giuseppi: Male Tribute, age 13.
Mindy Hong: Female Tribute, age 13.
District 4 Residents
Mags Flanagan: Winner of the 11th Hunger Games, mentor to Digger.
George “Digger” Harkness: Male Tribute, age 16 (Volunteer)
Azure O’Rourke: Female Tribute, age 17 (Volunteer)
District 5 Residents Roscoe Dillon: Male Tribute, age 15.
Mayella Day: Female Tribute, age 17.
District 6 Residents
Fred Chyre: Mayor of District 6
Larry Snart: Former Peacekeeper. Father to Len and Lisa.
Jay Garrick: Victor of the 15th Hunger Games; only living victor from District 6. Mentor to Len and Lisa.
Leonard Snart: Male Tribute, age 17 (Volunteer). Narrates half the story.
Lisa Snart: Female Tribute, age 12. Narrates the other half of the story.
Roy Bivolo: Age 12. Reaped for the Games; Len takes his place when he volunteers.
District 7 Residents
Pine Rookwood: Male Tribute, age 16.
Sierra Fox: Female Tribute, age 17.
District 8 Residents
Richard Swift: Victor of the 17th annual Hunger Games. Mentor to Sam Scudder.
Sam Scudder: Male Tribute, age 15.
Martha Scudder: Sam’s mom. (This one is a Flash OC.)
Bobbi Weaver: Female Tribute, age 16.
District 9 Residents
Marco Mardon: Male Tribute, age 16. (Volunteer)
Claudio Mardon: Marco’s older brother, age 17. Reaped for the Games; Marco takes his place when he volunteers.
Isabela Daniels: Female Tribute, age 15.
District 10 Residents
Mick Rory: Male Tribute, age 18.
Iris West: Female Tribute, age 17.
Barry Allen: Iris' boyfriend, age 17.
District 11 Residents
Jennifer Conners: Female Tribute, age 15. (Another Flash OC of mine.)
Thomas Henry: Male Tribute, age 17.
District 12 Residents
Albert Desmond: Male Tribute, age 17.
Rita Jones: Albert’s girlfriend, age 17.
Lilybet Thompson: Female Tribute, age 14.
The first chapter of the story, Cold Fire, has been posted on AAO3 if you're interested.

;; Just Me & You Dedicated to @wyattjohnston for her birthday bingo!
Summary: A sequel series to Last Christmas, Adam and Charlotte are reunited after 7 years at the wedding of AHL Captain, and Adam's ex-teammate, Dillon Heatherington and Daphne, their childhood friend. Charlotte is forced to face the feelings she had spent years trying to deny and the memories she had tried to forget. It is proven to be a difficult task, even with her boyfriend of 5 years in her company as her wedding date. Demi's Bingo Card Tropes: Exes to lovers/friends to lovers, “I need you to tell me what we are,” body positivity, summer romance, pining, nobody can know (what happened in the past), “please just be honest with me” Tropes & TW: toxic relationship (original character / original character), past relationships, bridesmaid and the best man, there is body shaming before there is body positivity, alcohol consumption, infidelity ABOUT THE OC's: Charlotte: Face Claim: Crystal Reed. You can read her biography here. Daphne: Face Claim: Sophie Turner. Daphne is Charlotte's childhood friend. She grew up with Charlotte and Adam, and the three of them often spent the summer together at the cabin. Wesley: Face Claim: Ben Barnes. Ben is a career-focused man and has been Charlotte's boyfriend for the last few years. He can be controlling, and cold and doesn't let the wedding distract him from the work that needs to be done. Word Count: 20k+ Word Count Including Directors Cut: 22.5k+ A/N: I had originally planned for this fic to be in one post, but as normal I have gotten completely out of hand with it all. So this post will be more of a table of contents to direct you on your journey rather than the story itself and for that, I apologize because I know you probably would have liked it all in one place. BUT it also gave me the opportunity to make more graphics for the fic and for that, I am not entirely mad. Additionally, the director's cut is practically self-indulgence. At the end of the day, I am a smut writer, and if I have an excuse to wedge smut into a work I will but it is in no way necessary to read to be able to enjoy the story itself. I have made it a separate piece since you are not the biggest fan of smut and wanted to make sure the main story was catered to you for your special day! With that said: HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEMI! I hope you enjoy another story that I have created just for you for your birthday and I hope you don't mind that I went ahead and made it a sequel to Last Christmas! It was time to revisit Adam and Charlotte again and I couldn't have enjoyed it more aka this is the only thing I've worked on since my surgery and it's been such a passion project for me. I will be releasing a chapter a week leading up to your birthday! Enjoy! 🎉

Charming Life (2/?)
Opie Winston x Teller!Sister OC Joanne ‘Jo’ Teller Gemma Teller x Jax Teller x Teller!Sister OC
From these October Prompts:  “wow, dark already?”
A/N: I know myself well enough to know a prompt a day is a little ambitious but I really wanted to jump into some of those October dialogue prompts. SO I’m committing myself to a prompt a week for the month of October. Here’s week 4 out of 4. I hit my goal!!! Yaaaay! This was originally going to be a different fic but I’ve had Jo on my mind all day everyday so wanted to get this out!
Chapter Index
Word Count: 2.6k
Warnings: All my fics are 18+ regardless of content. Cursing, pining, angst, canon level mentions of drugs and jail.
SOA Taglist: @drabbles-mc (Let me know if you’d like to be added!)

Jax pulled up to his mother’s house with his truck, the windows of both the house and truck were open, making it pretty easy to hear what was going on inside. The yelling and screaming was something Jax was used to, he grew up with it since his mother and sister tended to butt heads a lot, particularly on Gemma’s side of things. But this was different. He heard his sister’s voice over Gemma’s which was surprising. Jo never let herself yell the way Gemma did, it was her way of trying to be different for her own daughter, break generational curses and all that. So when Jax heard Jo yell he picked up the pace to see what was happening in the house.
He barged into the door that opened into the kitchen to see Jo following Gemma around the dining room. Gemma seemed unbothered by Jo’s bickering, she was checking in on the various pots of chili and grocery bags that held ingredients to make more for the Taste of Charming fundraiser.
“Are you fuckin’ listening to me?” Jo barked as Gemma turned around, clearly feeling whatever nerve Jo hit with her words or tone. The two were now face to face, expressions as cold as ice as they stared at each other.
“Alright, chill out.” Jax’s voice boomed as made his way in between the two women. “What’s going on?” He was confused, while it wasn’t the first time he’s had to intervene between the two, it was the first time in a while. Since Jo had gotten pregnant with Dillon, the Teller women barely fought, it wasn’t that there wasn’t tension there, but they all learned how to live in harmony without explosive behavior.
“Why don’t you tell him?” Jo smirked, not breaking her glare from Gemma. She knew pushing the topic on Gemma to tell Jax would be punishment enough for her mother. Jax would take Jo’s side on this, no question.
Jo backed up letting Jax into the conversation. “The floor is yours, Gemma.” Jo didn’t let the smirk fall off her face.
“I should smack that smile off that darling little face of yours.” Gemma placed her hands on her hips.
“Mom!” Jax raised his voice. “Tell me what the fuck is going on?”
“April Hobart asked me to talk with the club and let Kyle come to the fundraiser. See his kid play, he’s in the band.” Gemma let those last words come out almost as if she was trying to seem like she knew more than Jax. Which sure, Jax didn’t know the kid was in the band or that said band would be at the fundraiser, but that shit didn’t matter. That was Gemma trying to show rank. What Jax did know was that Kyle was the reason Opie had done 5 years in prison. He also knew that was why Jo was freaking out.
“You gotta be fuckin’ kidding me.” Jax moved to look away from Gemma as his long blond hair moved from side to side as he shook his head and sucked his lip in with anger.
“I already talked to Clay. He’s putting it up for a vote.” Gemma went back to checking over the groceries, she knew regardless of how her two kids felt, she had won the argument.
Jax looked at Jo for back up in a way, but all she did was lift her hands up. Gemma had moved back into the kitchen, putting her focus on the pot of chili on the stove, leaving Jax and Jo in the dining room.
“We’ve been fighting all morning about it, well, I have been. She hasn’t said a word to me.” Jo explained. “I was there when April came up to the booth, I think it’s genuine but I don’t think that asshole should be in a 10 mile radius of Charming.” Jo was getting worked up.
Jax sighed, “Yea, I agree. It’s not gonna pass the club vote. Don’t stress too much about it.” Jax tried to comfort his big sister.
“Sure, easy task.” Jo rolled her eyes as she snatched her bag up from the dining room table.
“Few days at mom’s and you’re already back to fighting like we’re teenagers again.” Jax joked, before he was looking around the house, “where’s Dillon?” Jax seemed concerned.
“Worry about your own shit, Jax.” Jo snapped back at him. “She’s not here, I wouldn’t act like that in front of her.” She felt disrespected by what Jax was insinuating.
He held his hands up to declare surrender and innocence, “I was asking because I wanted to see if you were down for a ride to Ope’s, picking up some hand me down baby shit for Abel.”
Jo backed down a little. “Sorry, I’m on edge.” She took a deep breath and played with the tassels on her bag. “Yea I could use the fresh air.”
Jax laughed and made his way out of the house, leaving Gemma with nothing but a nod.
The drive to Opie’s house wasn’t long, only a couple minutes from the Teller house. That was the charm of Charming, everything was close.
“Haven’t seen you get that worked up in a while.” Jax said as he drove.
“It’s just bullshit. Pure bullshit that Gemma is even entertaining the idea.” Jo shrugged.
Jax kept silent and just nodded as he pulled up in front of Opie’s house. He was out of the car just as quick as he was driving up. He was halfway up the driveway before realizing he didn’t have company. With a glance over his shoulder he was squinting through the morning sun to look for Jo who was still in the car.
“You comin’? Or what?” He was still close enough where he didn’t have to yell.
“I’m gonna wait in the car.” Jo called out, praying he didn’t press for more information. Which he didn’t. Jax had speculations, he had thoughts, but never pressed Jo about them. He gestured with a nod and made his way to Opie’s backyard.
Jo looked around at his house, the home he shared with Donna. Although, with the fact that he hadn’t been home in half a decade she had to assume it felt less and less like home to him these days, but none of that was her concern. Jo never had the privilege of concerning herself with anything about Opie’s life outside of a normal friendship, and even that was limited. Jax, Jo, and Opie grew up together, they were best friends, inseparable. And somewhere along the line, Jo fell in love with Opie, her brother’s best friend. But, he met Donna, and there was never any hate there. Truthfully, Jo wanted Opie to be happy, whatever that looked like. With or without her. But it didn’t stop her from feeling something when she saw him outside the club outings, especially here where it felt more real. Seeing their garage full of things, things that they shared together, the life they had together, it cut deep.
She was brought back to reality when she heard voices and she looked to her right to see Jax and Opie making their way to the front yard with a couple baby items. Jax was walking towards the bed of the truck, piling things in while Opie stood in the front yard. Jo stayed in the car, her glance moved to catch what Jax was doing before it went back to Opie who lifted his hand up to wave. She offered a weak smile back accompanied by a wave before Jax was talking as he got back in the driver's seat but Jo was too occupied staring at Opie who was now standing there with Donna talking.
Somehow in the mix of all of it, a part of her appreciated Donna, and what she did for Opie, despite Donna’s feelings on the club, she was a mother and that was something Jo could understand and respect. Opie leaned down and kissed Donna, and that broke Jo’s stare as she looked over at her brother whose eyebrows were raised.
“What?” Jo said on defense.
Jax thought about mentioning it, saying something slick or even being genuine but he bit his tongue.
“I was saying I didn’t tell him about Kyle, he was in a good mood which is rare for Ope these days so I figured I’d let him ride it out before church later.”
Jo nodded, “Your club, not mine.”
_________
It seemed like the club had okayed Kyle’s presence at the fundraiser, which at this point Jo knew there wasn’t any benefit of holding the grudge, it was out of her hands. Her and Gemma patched things up between them, or at least their version of that which was simply never mentioning it again and carrying on with their daily life business as usual. They were scooping chili, collecting money, shredding cheese, and chopping up fresh cilantro and onions for chili toppings. The booth was a success as it was every other year.
Donna and Opie had arrived at the event, but hadn’t made their way in too deep before the two of them saw Kyle and had a discussion. Donna didn’t know the facts about Kyle or the whys and hows of Opie’s lockup, but all she knew in that moment was that Kyle had gotten out of the club and she wanted that for Opie.
One downside to Opie was, he shared nothing with Donna. And then got frustrated with her when she knew nothing. Donna suggested that he get out like Kyle did, and that pressed a button for Opie, rightfully so due to Kyle and Opie’s history, but the way he snapped on Donna wasn’t in the least bit deserved. In his frustrated rage, he still managed to apologize to Donna before going to watch some of the games and activities happening with her and the kids. His mood progressively got worse as he saw Kyle having a great time with his kids, something Opie missed due to his prison stint.
After attempting to get either of his kids to participate with him and ultimately failing, he let his family run off and explore as he sat on the picnic bench, alone and defeated. His eyes scanned over the crowd, he saw Jo playing with her daughter, blowing bubbles and laughing. A smile grew on his face. Opie made his way over to her, giving them a bit of a startle.
“Hey,” his deep voice made the both of them jump. He laughed trying to ease their fright, “sorry, didn’t mean to scare you both.”
“It’s okay, we were deep in a game of popping bubbles, once you get a 50 count, you kind of forget about the world around you.” Jo stood up wiping her hands of the bubble suds on her jeans. “Say hi to Uncle Ope, Dill.” Jo pointed to the man who was towering over both of them.
Dillon overed a simple wave and went back to blowing the bubbles on her own which caused both of the adults to chuckle.
“Dillon, go over to Grandma, her and Aunt Lu are going to watch you for a bit.” Jo pointed to the chili table that was 30 feet from them. Without fuss, the little girl was making her way over to the tent.
Once she was in Gemma’s arms, Jo moved her gaze to Opie who was back to staring at Kyle.
“How are you with that?” Jo stared at the piece of shit with Opie.
“You know, seeing how everyone is with their kids, it's hard. Especially that asshole.”
“5 years is a long time Ope, you can’t compare yourself to other people, other parents. I’m all Dillon has. Micky, well, we all know Micky is a deadbeat. And Kyle? He comes around every couple of months with money and toys, of course his kids love him, they’re not old enough to realize the piece of shit isn’t around because he chooses to be.” Jo comforted him as they stared at Kyle during the egg toss. “You’re not either of them. You were away, but you’re back. Be back. Don’t get sucked up in the past of it all.”
“You’re a good mom, Jo.” Opie glanced over at her.
“So is Donna. You can’t box her out, Ope.” The words hurt to say, but it was the truth.
Opie was silent for a bit so Jo spoke up again. “The club? I mean c’mon. Look at it from her point of view. The club put you away. I’m sure she doesn’t know how or why. To her, Jax, Clay, Bobby, the whole fuckin’ club, hell even me, Gemma, the fuckin’ crow eaters, we did this to you. Did this to her. To your family.”
“It’s not that easy.” Opie tried to argue. “To just open up.”
“You’re doing a fantastic job doin’ it now.”
“It’s different with us. I’ve known you my whole life–” Opie tried to defend himself.
“But you vowed your life to that woman.” She pointed over where Donna was. “I’m not saying you can’t talk to me. We’re friends, we’ve always been friends and always will be friends. I’m just offering up some friendly advice.”
“You think we’ll always be that?” Opie questioned. “Friends?”
Before Jo could answer, Jax was joining them.
“Sup?” Jax greeted them, now the three were staring at the egg toss. “What I miss?”
“Just hangin’ out like old times.” Jo laughed. “Wild isn’t it? We all grew up together, and now our kids, they’re gonna grow up together.”
“How is your kid?” Opie said looking over Jo’s head at Jax.
“Still in the toaster, but he’s healing quick.” Jax smiled.
Before the 3 could finish their conversation, their attention was averted to the egg toss, where Kyle was currently soaked in yolk. Although the conversation was halted, there was a moment where it felt like time froze for all of them and the tattoo on the back of Kyle was framed and blown up for all of them to see. Jo felt the two men to her left and right tense up as they caught a look at eachother.
“You guys go, I’ll distract Gemma.” Jo planned out knowing her mother would lose her shit if she found out things were going to go down at her event.
__________
Whatever went down between Kyle and the boys stayed out of the gossip mill of the town which meant it stayed clear of Gemma. It was already dark out, which meant the club guys fulfilled their community service duties for Gemma and were either home or at the clubhouse, leaving the rest of the fundraiser full of families and volunteers.
“Wow, dark already.” Gemma’s voice made Jo turn around to face her.
“Yea, the day went by fast.” Jo said as she picked up her little girl who was previously holding Gemma’s hand.
“Enjoy the days, sweetheart. Before you know it, the years fly by and you start wondering where the time went.” Gemma was playing with Dillon’s hair as she stood next to Jo.
The fireworks started to go off, which caused Dillon to shift in her mother’s arms and look up at the sky as she held one arm around Jo’s neck and the other around a stuffed animal she must have won during the day.
“I think the years grew wings a long time ago, Mom.” Jo said as she looked to where the fireworks were coming from and saw Opie with his family. There it was again. That bittersweet feeling, she pushed him to fix things with Donna and the kids, but her heart tore a little bit every time she had to see them. “A long, long, time ago.”

Aviscium Prologue
This is just something I wrote when I was 15. I think that it had been a cool idea, but it never went anywhere and at the end of the day I definitely think I could've improved.
But, I did finish the novel late into 10th grade, and it's sat stagnant for years, why not post it and see what happens? Maybe sit and read through, figure out what I would change and how my writing as a whole has changed.
Enjoy, if you'd like :)

Tumblr media
The moon was cold tonight.  It’s ivory crescent casting faint light onto those who dwelled below it.  It was like a whole other world, just out of reach of those who yearned for it.  For the safety of being in another world, where kingdoms didn’t rule and command every breath you took.
Some had attempted to fly up to it.  Astride their Magnavis, encouraging the Avians to propel themselves higher with every beat of their mighty wings.  Higher and higher, until the poor creatures' colossal wings gave out and they fell to their demise.
So, you would think, if people yearned to simply get closer to it, then they’d enjoy bearing its palette.
This is the story of how the moon became not a symbol of dreamers, not a figure in a story, and not a fairy tale treasure.
It became a curse.
Weighted footfalls crept slowly over the dark terrain, the glistening orb in the sky lighting up the path for him to follow.  A blessing.  A ginormous Red Kite soared in the woods above him, too big to fit through the trees.
He was Dillon Overbrooke, son of a wealthy mercenary, responsible for slaying many cruel beings in his younger days.  He had golden locks of hair that fell heavily in his face, and eyes so blue, they appeared black in certain lights.
He was hunting.  He was something of a mercenary himself, decent by other standards, never good enough in his fathers.
The trail was still strong, and he was getting closer and closer to the border of the Farwilds.  He had to catch his target before he crossed the border.
Arius, the man that had once been a worshipped figure in their small town.  He had the unusual ability of manipulating people's very beings, not quite a part of any Mage’s particular category.  Dillon assumed that his Magik was a fusion of some pair.
Arius could straighten a crooked nose, or change boring, mousy hair into whatever shade the person wished.  For this, people loved him.
They loved being able to look in the mirror, and see the face they wished, have it stare back at him and copy their every move.
For a price, of course.
Every person was given their wish, if they could give him what he desired in return.  Varying between jewellery, coin, and favours, he could ask for whatever he desired, and he’d surely get it.
Except this time, he didn’t.  And the kind, rat-like man had retaliated in a way no one had foretold.
When he’d asked for the daughter's hand in marriage, and been denied, he had made his choice.
“If I can’t have the witch, then nobody will.” He’d snarled, and returned later that night, disembowelling the girl and her father, and leaving them scattered as decorations all over their small cottage.
Dillon and his family had been alerted, and his father had sent him ahead while his parents spoke to the widow left behind.
This was a task that he’d never received before.  He’d never been in charge of something so important.
So here he was, tracking footsteps that had started out crimson, but were now little more than indents in the forest floor.  The ancient pine trees whispered their stories to him.  He could hear every creak of their branches, and he was alert for something, anything, that would break their natural pattern.  The quiet chittering of squirrels.
The singing of the breeze in the pines
Snap.
There.
Not a hundred feet away, a hunched figure stood.  Their foot was entangled in a briar, whose tendrils reached a dozen feet around.  The abnormal size of this plant was proof enough that a couple minutes’ walk away, he’d meet his doom.
The Farwilds were known throughout the land.  They frightened nobody and everyone at the same time.
Behave, and you’ll never have to see them.
Resist, and you’ll live there forever.
Dillion reached over his shoulder to grasp at the yew bow that was slung over his shoulder.
One arrow was all that it would take.  One shiny, brown arrow, with the feathers from his faithful companion crowning the end like a crown.
His long arm reached into the quiver, drawing out the arrow that would soon paint the forest floor scarlet.
He nocked it and drew the string back as far as he could.  He aimed the tip slightly higher than the other man's head.  One arrow.
But before he could release the tension in his fingers and send the projectile hurtling, the man looked up.
‘Shoot.  Shoot now.’ He told himself, and readied himself to release the projectile, but he couldn’t do it.
Arius was starting directly into his eyes.  Past them.  Into the soul behind them.  His fingers locked up, and the arrow began to slide down, away from the target.  He could do nothing to stop it.
The Kite Magnavis above him cried, feeling the cold that seeped through him through their bond.  It sent waves of warmth, trying to free him of whatever was paralysing him.  But the Avian could do nothing to help.  It was too big to swoop down through the pines, and could only circle above, unable to see what was going on.
“Well…” Arius drawled; his hair was black now.  Hadn’t it been blonde earlier? “It didn’t take you long to catch up, now did it? ‘Mages help me.’ He thought, limbs trembling.  His eyes drifted towards the moon, as if hoping to find one of the seven holy mortals peering down at him from the silver ball.  He had never been quite as scornful of its worshippers as his father, maybe his half-hearted faith would come with rewards...?
Arius, whose ever-changing eyes could rival an eagles in their sharpness, narrowed in on this miniscule movement.  The man followed his gaze, the briar around his leg now forgotten.
“Boy,” He began, an evil smirk on his thin lips.  “What do you hope to find up there? A better world?  Riches?  The answers to all your questions?” Dillon’s mouth was dry, he couldn’t speak.  He couldn’t move!
“You’re as dumb as you look, then.  There is nothing for you in that sky.  Nothing that could ever compare to what the people string together.  Myths, the whole lot of it.” He snorted. “But.  If you would like, I could do something very special for you.” He tried to shake his head.  Tears welled up in his blue eyes, his heart was pounding so loud he could feel it in his ears.  His arm was cramping from holding its outward position for so long.
“I could make you as bright as the moon…. I could mould you into what the people see, when they look at that chunk of rock.  It wouldn’t hurt.” ‘No, no, no!’ He tried to sob, but he could move his mouth.  Gargled whines were the only noise that escaped his lips.  The circling raptor above echoed his distress.  He wished that he had asked it to follow along the pathway with him, but he had been too afraid of her slowing him down.  How foolish was he.
“I see that you agree.” Arius giggled.  The sound was hideous.  It bounced off every rock, every stick, and seemed to jump past him like a deer, travelling for miles.
The now black-haired man reached forward, before curling his fingers in.
Dillon could feel the change.  His eyes watched as the colour on his fingers drained away, like water from a duck's back.  The fine hairs along his arms paled from white tinted gold to a couple shades darker than milk.  His arms, they were whiter than clouds.  A faint shroud misted over his eyes, tears, most likely.
“There…” Arius breathed, taking in his new creation. “You all seem to believe that the moon will guide you.  Even when you claim you don’t, you do.  This is more a blessing than a punishment, don’t you think?”
And with that, he pulled out a blade, no longer than one of Dillon’s fingers, and sliced through the thorny branch around his leg.  Why hadn’t he done that in the first place? It was as if he was waiting for someone to catch up to him.
The ice that held him captive melted away, and pain barked through him as cramped muscles loosened.
Dillon took a gasping breath, hearing branches rustle behind him.
His father astride his golden eagle, hopping over branches and foliage, its powerful legs launching it meters at a time.
Behind it, others called.
Birds soared above the trees, those whose legs couldn’t carry them far enough.  People milled around and gaped at him.
Dillion glanced again at his hands, pulling back his sleeve.  The colour went past his elbow, and further…
His breathing became heavier as he ripped open his shirt to look at his stomach.  It was white.  Everything was white, his feet, his hands, his stomach, he could feel his heart stuttering violently in his chest.
“Son…” His father said slowly, his eyes, which were as dark as his sons, appeared like voids in the shadowy forest.
“What’s happened to you?”
A single footstep would be too loud, the creaking of floorboards like sirens, white hair trailed behind as a shadow figure crept through the cabin, all they needed was to get outside.  Ink smudged her bone-coloured hands, remnants of the chicken scratch letter she had just left.
Their cabin was small, consisting of a bedroom, a living area, where the girl slept, and a kitchen, which also acted as a dining area.
Amell was waiting outside, she could see his black spotted feathers through the blurred glass.  A pack was slung over her shoulder, filled with only what she dared take.
Her family didn’t have much to spare, so she would have to make do.
There was a willow bow leaning against the door, small for such a weapon.  It reached up to her shoulders, and she knew every curve on the wooden handle.  She had received it for her birthday last year, hand carved by her father.  She could shoot her target four times out of eight and got better as every day passed.
But now, it would be serving a purpose much greater than simple defence.  It would take down food and keep her safe on what she hoped would be nothing more than an adventure.  A trip, to try and break the curse that had lay on her family for three generations.  She was the fourth, but at eleven years old, she supposed she had hardly even begun her generation.
She reached out to pick up the familiar weight.  It wouldn’t fit over top of the bag on her back, but she could secure it to Amell’s saddle.  A saddle that was as big as she was, and probably weighed around the same too.
The door’s whispered protests as she pushed against it made her muscles tense.
Up on the roof, her father’s Kestrel roosted, right alongside her mother’s Rockfinch.  The pair was comedic to look at, rich auburn feathers and sharp eyes, alongside dusty brown feathers, with endless black eyes.
She dared to release a breath, creeping along the stones she had helped her father place when she was just a few years old.
Indeed, her gyrfalcon, Amell, waited.  His white feathers were puffed out against the chilled wind that blew.
She bowed her head when he turned his yellow eyed gaze on her.  His eyes were as big as one of her hands, and he could bite off her head with one snap of his beak.  But she knew he wouldn’t.  He had been with her since she was five years old, and he had been barely fledged.  Still growing, with hints of wispy feathers remaining underneath his plumage.
She trusted him with her life.
When she reached the Magnavis’s side, she dragged out the long process of attaching straps to her legs, meant to prevent any deadly falls.
The sound of the aged leather could alert someone.  She would never have a chance like this again.
The bow she hooked over the horn of the saddle, the metal arch that sat near Amell’s head, where she could grab if she wished to steer, or to hold on for dear life if the occasion called for it.
Large woven baskets were clipped on just behind the Bird's wings, big enough to hold a fair few thing, but they seemed too big when she slowly dropped what she had brought.  The bread and salted meat were filling enough and packed with energy.  They’d keep her going until she was able to get more food.
Now she just had to get onto him.
Something she had done a million times and counting, but now was the only time that mattered.
Strong, tense arms braced themselves on the sides, preparing to haul herself over the Magnavis’s powerful wings, which would carry the duo far, far away.
With a sharp pull, she was up.
The straps around her legs tightened, and she made sure they were secure, and untangled from any of her companions' feathers before she dared rub her hand over the white and black Bird's neck.
Silent as a mouse, they were off. The initial whoosh of his feathers faded away quickly, and the Magnavis on the roof barely even moved, too exhausted after a day's work.
Her parents would know in the morning when they awoke to milk the goats and wake their daughter.
She had left a note that had just a few words scribbled on it.  Paper that had been folded more times than she could count, ink that was too watery, and she knew it faded with every hour that passed.
Above her, the moon whispered its cruel words in a breeze as she pondered over what she had written.  Would it be enough? What if they came looking for her?
But she prayed to whatever higher beings were above, whatever deity watched her escape.
She prayed the simple words were enough.
Mother and Father.
Do not look for me, I will be fine.
With love, Loka.

Hi I'm here for blorbos in pajamas and oversized clothing and somftness
Sweatshirts and sweatpants haven't been invented yet in the 1870s wild west but also Chester wearing Matt's sleep shirt some morning 🥺🥺 where it's too cold and the jail's stove has gone out for the third time that night and "I just don't want to deal with it no more, Mr. Dillon" and Matt doesn't even think about it too hard he just hands him the shirt and goes back to sleep but then it's morning and oh no. Chester may be tall but he's not as tall as Matt and he's drowning in that sleep shirt and his hair is a mess and oh no I think I need to write this,,,,,
Thank you for giving me this brainrot I love it I love you and I hope you're having a good night !!!
Haha YES!! More softness!!
Honestly that moment of obviousness while they're not at 100%, like "of course, I know what to do, I must hand him my shirt, this is just how it's done", and then in the morning when the brain's fully back online the "holy shit hoLY SHIT", it's so so tasty I love it. I was thinking Matt/Foggy thoughts (as I do right now) personally, cause it's sometimes a thing in fanfic for them to have clothes at each other's place for impromptu sleepovers and the like, and authors also like putting Matt in Foggy's clothes sometimes, plus on top of that they roomed together for - the show's not clear on that bit tbh but at least a year and people often give them more - for a certain time in college/law school or however that works, which I think would also be conducive to clothes sharing. I can't tell if I like it more if Matt wears something of Foggy's by accident and he can't tell cause he's not fully awake yet or he Knows that specific texture, knows the smell of the detergent and the closet it was in, he knows it's not his, and the pining on Foggy's side because he doesn't need to say something, does he? surely it was a mistake, Matt's just blind and it doesn't matter, 100% friendly platonic feelings about this! Anyway. Hmm I'm going to be thinking about this.
Thank you for the thoughts!! OH wait what you said also makes me think of the obvious warmth-sharing techniques you see in fanfics a lot. Not that shirt sharing isn't incredible (it is it so is) but y'know, huddling for warmth and such 👀 so yeah thanks for sending that, I'm going to go to sleep Early like a reasonable young woman, I know you're going to have a busy start to your week but I hope you had as good a day as possible and you sleep well!! <3 <3

Fanfic titles: Not where the Storyline Ends + Fern/Izzy????
Rating: M Relationships: Izzy Garcia/Fern; Camille/Jarrod; Adam Park/Rocky DeSantos/Aisha Campbell & Matt Cook; Tommy Oliver/Kat Hillard; Ziggy Grover/Dillon; Jake Holling/Emma Goodall. Characters: Izzy Garcia; Fern; Camille; Damon Henderson; Adam Park; Mike (power rangers samurai); Jake Holling; Ziggy Grover; Cameron Watanabe; Matthew Cook; Tommy Oliver; etc. Additional Tags: Crack Treated Seriously; Lesbians in Space; Bad Flirting; Pining Idiots; Hero Worship; Emotional Hurt/Comfort; Women Being Awesome. Summary: 'This feels like a Zayto or Amelia problem. Why does it have to be mine?' Here's the thing about the Morphin Grid: time is an illusion, and if you're sent a call for your Color, you have to go. Izzy is Green, though. Izzy is GREEN and in being called to gather with other Greens, it leaves her feeling...very out of place. She was the newest, the youngest, the least experienced, and looking around the weird location they'd all been brought to, she also noted with a precarious amount of trouble building up inside her that she was one of only TWO girls in the entire goddamn lot. And she couldn't even seem to talk to the other one in any meaningful capacity, because Camille of Pai Zhua might have looked like she was barely in her twenties, but she was actually thousands of years old and had come up from being a villain for the greater chunk of her life. Also, she flirted with everyone just to make them uncomfortable and---while Izzy could respect that---it just made her even more depressed in the moment. Made her miss her girlfriend while surrounded by the likes of Cameron Watanabe and Damon Henderson and Tommy-Goddamn-Oliver. Yeah, this Forever Green was shaping up to be a shitshow.
