just learned about the people posting '19th century paintings' by a supposed "emile corsi", which is actually just ai art misleadingly and purposefully being represented as actual historical pieces, and i do think this is an issue for art history and culture that people are doing this (and that more people are being tricked into reposting these pieces under the belief theyre legitimate historical ones, furthering the lie).

however after looking it up a bit im finding that the only issue people have with this is that misrepresentation of art history. and id like us to also consider that many of these pieces are in the 19th-century orientalist style, in which white european artists fictionalized, fetishized and otherized swana people. and the use of ai art to create new pieces of a historical racist style (which still today colors the way swana people and our history are perceived in the west) should be as big a concern as the issue of fooling people into thinking an artist who didnt exist actually did. probably more!

(preemptive disclaimer that im not "anti-ai" and dont care about having that argument. post is about a racist thing. does not need derailing.)

So once you were all situated and comfortably snuggled in,you pressed the play button

And the film began

Like ik we all know and love out little kachchan as this brave courageous hot headed best boi but even these movies get to him :’)

Like itll be a particularly gruesome death that yall can see it comin and he’ll slowly grip your hand under the blankets

Neither of you acknowledge it,but you feel happy and proud knowing that katsuki feels safe enough to let down his walls around you.and we all know how high his walls and defences can be,(theyd give even eugene fitzherbert a run for his tiara!)

Kiri on the other hand is very expressive

Like he’ll he yelping and gasping and shouting warnings to the charcters and suddenly the kid who was telling yall to shush was makin enough noise to alert even the league of villains!(dw the entire dorm had earplugs in,they knew how loud you guys got on ur traditional movie night)

And when you stop for a break you guys completely lose it and both chastise and mourn the characters who passed

The one where the guy gets his organs sucked out in the pool really had kiri TRAUMATISEDDD

Give him a hug please he needss ittt

Also youre gonna need to make sure he doesnt go to any pools for the next two weeks

Bakugou was really shook by the one where the train got derailed and killed them

He was out here cursing the rat :’)

And finally to wash it all down you guys watched some masterchef and Attack On Titan: Junior High.

And when the boys saw you were still a little shaken up,your eyes lookin at the windows and the shadows, they knew what they had to do

Bakugou pulled you to your feet and kiri got the tunes

And together they made sure you danced your fears away!

You went on till past 2 am and finally when you were tired enough you plopped back onto the couch and just chilled

You were the first to fall asleep that night,so the boys decided ‘you know what? Fuck it! And just stayed there with you!

You guys woke up at about 8 am the next day and had breakfast with the rest of your class all while still discussing the previous night’s movies!!

I've been thinking about making a Dreamwidth account. Its more personal and the posts would be in one place, all chronological, neatly together and all that, feels like it would be easier to read through them and find certain things than here. Also commenting on them and having conversations there is much easier and clearer, so maybe I could like "repost" my writing/fandom/fanfic posts there so everyone who'd like to have a chat could find the post easier and chat in comments.

Ive also been thinking about a discord server, for a looong time now, but Im not sure how many peeps would even want to get in one. It prob would need to be broader than Voiles. Maybe for more rarepairs?? or just for writers to talk their writing and interact with each other and readers more easily?? Id just like it to be an open space for chats to everyone, y'know?

I realize tumblr is not actually that good for conversations and keeping in touch and all, ao3cotd made quite a few posts on this and it got me thinking about all this even more.

Its just that with my wrists as they are I wouldnt be able to be the single driving force behind a discord server for example, even tho Id looove to chat A Lot. But if lovely peeps joined Id be there all the time, hah, or rather at least Id check in a lot ^^

I just miss connecting with people, tbh, having community where you can go chat fandom or other things, in an open space and all, but also ngl Im thinking about DW also cause I feel like I could make some posts there that Im kinda wary of making here, lmao. Like sometimes Id like to say I dont enjoy this or this ship and chat about it, but like chill and all, no hard feelings or heated debates, but Im Sure someone would come in and make it an argument/fight here on tumblr ;/ And I dont wanna hurt anyone's feelings too. Im very much of the ship and let ship and all, so personally I just block the ship tags of the ones Im not into ;p Anyway Im derailing the post here and its not about that xdd

So, I dunno, making that dreamwidth account is tempting, but seeing as its a site with no app that I know of, and posting there might not be as easy as here - tho I could just repost, hmmm. It could be a nice space still, kinda separate from tumblr, but also on pretty much the same topics, just easier to have conversations and chats on certain topics/posts. And a discord, well, Id love to, but I dunno...

So im very tired of self depreciating language. Specifically when used in a conversation Not About Your Perception Of Yourself.

I get it, we all get down on ourselves. Theres a time and place, though, to need to be comforted or reassured. And it isn't a) in the middle of a debate as a way to try to get the other people to?? Prove you wrong less?? Or b) in a conversation about someone else.

Why not? Well, see, in case A, what you are doing is making whoever you are arguing against seem mean and making it about that instead of what y'all were originally talking about.

"But that's not what my intent was" Doesn't Matter cause that is still what you're doing.

Do Not, say "ah im so stupid" in an argument when you Are Sticking To Your Original Viewpoint. Because now, when whoever you are arguing against continues to assert their points, it comes across as them agreeing that you are stupid.

And regardless of whether or not they think you are, it derails the conversation, especially if others are involved or witnessing this discussion.

If you can't argue your point and wont concede, stop talking. Don't try to frame your opponent in a bad light by making people pity you when they've no reason to. And don't act surprised when you do pull this bs and people get fed up with it.

As for case B, this is like when people are complimenting someones work and you jump in with "wow i could never do something like that / im so jealous, my work is such trash". Again, maybe you dont intentionally mean harm by doing this, but it's a shitty thing to do and heres why.

People deserve acknowledgment for their work. Someone posted their work, and others began commenting. However as soon as you derail the conversation (unless no one takes the bait, which unfortunately is rare) it is now about you. And the person who posted their work cant rlly repost it now or ask for people to go back to that without being a prick.

So yeah. Here's the calm explanation for these two occurances and why they are bad. Because, in the moment, if someone calls you out there's a good chance they wont want to calmly explain. And they dont owe you that.

what happened with musajirou? i'm on their blog and they're making it out to look like they're a victim of bullying. which is super manipulative if they in fact bullied you and your friends? just to be clear, i 100% believe your retelling, and you dont have to respond to this if it's a situation u would rather keep private. it doesnt involve me personally, except that i will block them if they were shitty. just super unclear what happened bc their retelling is just " TR fandom is toxic bullies"

a few years back, me and some friends made some PSAs about the general problems the pokemon fandom has with reposting art. most japanese artists who use mediums like pixiv and twitter to share their art are not okay with their art being reposted without permission, and the pokemon fandom in particular is REALLY bad at respecting this. 

we talked primarily about rocketfandom because that’s where we’re most active, and some members of rocketfandom took this VERY personally. i don’t know if they’re just thirsty for notes or what, but a lot of people just COULD NOT HANDLE the idea of being told to not repost art. and it wasn’t like we mentioned anyone by name! it’s such a wide-spread problem, and so many people circulate that art without knowing, it can’t be blamed on any group of people. i reblogged SOOOO much reposted art when i first joined tumblr, hell i reposted a lot of it myself.

james-team-rocket, musajirou, & buchichiu were the most vocal about their disdain for this idea that artists were to be respected. the latter two used the classic, ‘well I’M an artist and i’m fine with it!!!!!’ defense. so i blocked them, because i block people who annoy me. we have not interacted since then.

prior to this, most of them were a source of annoyance to me and a lot of my friends, anyways. jez (james-team-rocket) would reblog queer headcanons attempting to “disprove” them with canon evidence. musajirou would reblog innocent posts from me and my friends and just leave ridiculously negative garbage on them all the time. after we all just rolled our eyes and blocked them, they started vaguing about us on private apps thinking word wouldn’t get to us. a number of them, most notably musajirou, badmouthed my friend jessica pretty bad, even though she’s really never done much beside get on to make goofy jokes every once in a blue moon.

jez has a habit of making personal posts where she rallies her followers to bother me in order to circumvent blocks. at one point she smeared another rocketblogger i was friends with, claiming that this blogger called jez out directly even though it was ME who was doing the calling out. jez purposefully screencapped my her blog in such a way that it looked like this other blogger was at fault when it was ME!!! naming names and picking fights. why? because i’m untouchable. i block everyone, i stand up for what i believe in, i scare people. consistently, these members of the fandom tend to only go after folks they view as easy to cut down and bully. that blogger jez framed ended up nearly run off the site for things that had nothing to do with her. the lot of them then tried to appeal to said blogger’s senses by sending her asks in the vein of we know it wasnt you, honey, it was that evil bitch musashi.

we were also able to connect musajirou’s IP to a number of troll accounts. these accounts were meant to directly smear the kind of rocketbloggers me and my friends were--they were incredibly hyperbolic accounts that loudly sang jessie’s praises while consantly bashing james. this was in response to me and my friends calling out the misogyny in the rocketfandom, how the woman in the ship was often villified while the man was treated like a Soft Baby Boy Who Could Do No Wrong. when they weren’t this, they were loudly queershipping, reblogging rocketshipping posts to derail about how ‘lol they’re gay sorry!!!!!’ in an attempt to make fans who interpreted the rockets as not cishet look like ~crazy faggots lol!~

eventually, these accounts devolved into outright homophobia. unsurprising, lmao.

and again i’d like to reiterate, i blocked all these users LONG before all of this. their temper tantrums have and always will be responses to things i say on my own blog far away from them. it’s wild how the people in rocketfandom wildly recognized as toxic & ones to avoid are the ones calling people who don’t engage with them bullies. almost makes me wonder if maybe they’re the problem! xD

yeah i name names and yeah i don’t forget. nasty fuckers get remembered! you can call me a bully all you want, if it shuts your ass up and keeps you away from this website then good, it’s a much healthier place without your negativity and my dash has been a much brighter, dare i say MUCH GAYER place since i blocked y’all in 2017. stay mad!

calista: they make a yuan ti rogue and put like… 18 points in dexterity, leaving every other stat at 9 or sth like that. they ignore battles, conversations, and crucial plot points - all they ever do is look for things to climb. they become increasingly more and more frustrated with each minute that passes. around halfway through the game they slam their hands on the table. “i’m sorry, but i’m starting to think you people don’t know how to play snakes and ladders,” they say

celestino: “uhhh i forgot my dice is it okay if i uhhh -” [pulls out one of those big fluffy pink dice you put in the windshield of a car].  also he does weird, nonsensical shit to see what’ll happen - not really out of a desire to be annoying, but because he accidentally built a character who sucks at everything but, idk, animal handling, so in order to be helpful to the group he really needs to think out of the box and try out strange things, like having a kangaroo carry your loot in its pouch (”we don’t even have to reach in and get it because the baby kangaroo will hand it to us!!”)

lesedi: starts off with a sorcerer. makes lore and perception checks on everything. (”you stand in front of a house–” the DM begins. “I ROLL FOR LORE”. nat 20. with a weary sigh, the DM pulls up the wikipedia entry for ‘house’). eventually, he multiclasses into ranger. then fighter. then cleric. at the end of the campaign he has at least one level in every class and the DM is just banging their head against the table and crying

niamh: every DM’s nightmare. she’s constantly tries to talk circles around the DM and confuse them into letting her do things she normally wouldn’t be able to do (like cast a warlock spell while being a plain fighter). she tries to cheat by bringing loaded dice; when called out on it, she reaches into her bra and pulls out more loaded dice. when called out on it again, she spends the entire session sulking and trying her best to derail the plot

safiya: she likes to pay attention to the smallest details and she’s good at thinking on her feet, so she’d actually be really good at it if she didn’t spend so much time trying to optimize her character and plan out the best possible strategy. at some point she realizes she’s taking it way too seriously and just… gives up. “i roll to seduce the dragon,” she says, while absentmindedly juggling her dice. “you dont speak draconic, safiya”. “i dont need to speak draconic to show it THESE TIDDIES”
