it seems like people are getting into hob/dream which is cool, slow burn lovers, i get it, but i don’t really ship it myself. personally i LOVED the sibling relationship between dream and death most, and when i thought about it i got really intrigued by dream/the corinthian. not even necessarily in a romantic or even a sexual way, but more like:
you created me, you gave me a purpose and then abandoned me, i did my best and yet you don’t love me.
i created you, there will always be a part of me within you, i’m sorry you were a mistake, i’m sorry i failed you.
like idk that seems like it could be such a cool dynamic to explore (or maybe i just have a complicated relationship with religion 😂)

Realizing I haven’t crossposted many of my sandman fics on here for a while! Compiled this list for ease of access!
Better With Company: Hob and the Corinthian become FWBs/BFFs over the centuries until a pissed-off Dream sends the Corinthian to rape him.
Blood for Sweetness: The Corinthian insists that Hob beat the snot out of him (sexually, and also literally) before they get too warm and cozy. Hob eventually starts to feel a bit weird about the whole thing. Communication happens! (the Corinthian still gets beat up)
brutality (some call love): Dream sticks Corinthian in a fishbowl of his own after the events at the cereal convention. Nobody is happy with this arrangement.
By Any Other Name: The collectors rape the Corinthian in front of Rose. Some comfort at the end.
Game Face: Rose and the Corinthian explore a rape fantasy roleplay.
Heavy Lies the Crown: The Corinthian helps Rose become queen of the Dreaming. Dream gets stuck in another basement (a nicer one!). Eventual threesome with her, Dream, and the Corinthian.
hunger, shaped most intimately: The second Corinthian slowly regains his memories and his predecessor’s complex feelings towards Dream. They bang.
it’s a wild world (they’re coming for your pelt): The second Corinthian gets raped in Hell. Gault helps him cope via some shapeshifter style sex.
Multitude of Sacrifices: The Good Doctor is fucking obsessed with Death. Literally.
No Other Beast: Dream loses his memories and powers and the Corinthian decides to use it as an opportunity to wife him up.
(re)shaped for your pleasure: Dream transforms the Corinthian into Alianora and has sex with him. The Corinthian has a bad time.
sink into the only sin that’s real: The Corinthian considers Dream his father. Cue some daddy kink, Corintheus style!
wear your name in your heart (tear it free): AU where the Corinthian was originally a sex dream until Dream decides he’d be better as a nightmare.
you better aim before they tame you, boy: Dream gives the second Corinthian a vagina for reasons logical only to him. Hob Gadling likes it very much.

Dream is the perfect male character bc he’s clearly dying from consumption at all times, he cries when someone calls him a friend, he commits acts of hubris he will not survive, his only friends are his bird and his big sister, his biggest opponents are his siblings who hate him for no reason and an insane gay serial killer HE created

Corintheus for the Ship Bingo!
what if god made you to hunger and all you really hungered for was him? what if god made you a mirror and then hated you for reflecting him? what if you just wanted god to see you and god was disgusted with what he saw? what if god called you his masterpiece and a disappointment? what then??
anyways dream/corinthian is deeply tied into fundamental questions for me about what it means to be a person and what it means to be loved and the limits of religious devotion. can you tell i'm a queer person who was raised evangelical?
