Echo: I had to pick up Tech early.
Crosshair: Is he sick?
Echo: No, not sick, he’s just very upset because he’s had a hard day.
Crosshair: Wait, why did he have a hard day?
Echo: He took his two pet snails to school with him today, and he had the snails in his book bag. He let out the snails by the sink in the back of the classroom for some exercise, and Wrecker, who was visiting the class that day, thought they were snails that had come inside from the playground, so he threw Tech’s snails out the window.
Crosshair: Oh my god.
Echo: I know you are laughing, Crosshair, but please act sad about it when we get home today.
Crosshair: I’ll try but that is hilarious.
Echo: Yeah, I know. Stupid pet snails.
Echo: I’m trying not to let Tech see me laugh.

It’s my birthday so it’s time for a self indulgent fic.
Thank you to @floundrickthewayfarer for coming up with the title and for listening to me ramble along with @saturn-sends-hugs and @gentle-hero-blog about this fic.
Also to my partner who edits every single word for me. You’re a trooper 🧡🤍
I hope you all like this one. I’m incredibly excited about it and can’t wait to share it with you 🩶

Bad Batch fanfic recommendations (from ao3)
This is my first post, and I’m promoting some awesome content. All credit goes to the great creators. I own nothing. Also, I shortened the stuff because yeah but I copy pasted from ao3 directly.

Stronger Together by Lapis01
Rating: Not Rated
Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings
Series: Part 1 of The Sniper And The Scientist
Summary: Before the Bad Batch came together, each of its original members were on their own. This is how Tech and Crosshair met, and became their own little family before meeting the others.
Please note that this is being written before the show has had time to touch base on potential first meetings! This is simply just my head canon! Clonecest shippers are not welcome
Sing Me a Song by Tanwyn
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: Graphic Depictions Of Violence
Series: Part 1 of Sing Me a Song
Summary: The Bad Batch protects their own. It’s their most sacred promise to each other, come hell or high water. When a reg named Echo joins Crosshair’s squad, Crosshair makes that promise again. However, in the stark halls of Kamino, Crosshair discovers that Echo’s decision to join the Bad Batch is only the beginning. On Kamino, Crosshair and his brothers are helpless to watch as Echo’s augmentations thrust him into the sights of the Kaminoan scientists. The Bad Batch promised to protect Echo, but the promises of clones are fragile things. As Echo struggles to heal in the midst of a war and the Batch’s loyalties are tested, darkness creeps ever-closer, irresistible and unrelenting. The war is nearing its end, and none of them will escape unscathed.
IMO, ‘Success Rate’ has a great Echo and Tech focus, as well as an awesome plot and great pacing. Quite a lot of pain and trauma, but that’s why I love it. Super wholesome but heart-wrenching too.
‘Stronger Together’, is the first part of the ‘The Sniper and The Scientist’ series. The whole series focuses on Tech and Crosshair’s dynamic, which is so underrated. Very well-done.
‘Sing Me a Song’ contains some of the best fluff ever, but also great angst. Beautifully balanced. Mainly Crosshair and Echo’s (platonic) relationship, which is almost absolutely non-existent in the series but entirely needed.
notes: All of their works are super good, read them all! (If you have time, of course.) Also, here on Tumblr, there’s a really great artist by the name of @shyranno. Go follow her please. Her TBB art is aMaZiNg. And if you know any other great Bad Batch or Clone Wars stuff (fanfics, art, anything), pleaseeeee send them my way. I need to c o n s u m e. If you are in any way offended by me putting these here, tell me ASAP and I’ll take it down :)

No but it's...
the way they naturally fall into eachother's roles when the other isn't there.
the instinctual head-tilt when Crosshair stabilized his rifle on Tech's shoulder, as if they'd done it a thousand times before.
It's the fact that Tech clearly told Phee all about his brother.
It's the sad, fond smile on Crosshair's face when Omega said Tech made her memorize all the plans ("of course he did").
It's the way Tech knew exactly where to look for that mirror.
